So we just go back to making hexes unusable garbage, then?
Hex perks are designed around powerful effects that can be removed.
They are supposed to be removed, that is the counterplay against them. Thrill of the Hunt completely eliminating the risk of running hexes isn't balanced, it is unhealthy for the game.
-
That rarely ever happens, and it shouldn't happen.
Thrill is overtuned, therefore it needs a nerf. No need for compensation buffs this time.

I think its just as janky as Ghostface, but while Ghostface gets thrown out of his power from all kind of bad angles, Unknown only slowly ticks down their Weakness status effect, setting them on a very strict timer, so its not as apparant when survivors "reveal" it when they shouldn't.
I'm not sure, it feels fine to me. With the Unknown there is rarely a scenario where the mechanic prevents me from doing the intended counterplay.
With Ghostface, the sheer amount of times I couldn't reveal him even though I'm clearly looking at him is unreal.

Like I said based on my own experience this is not the case. I was survivor main for 2 years. Majority of my matches went fine as far as toxicity goes from killers. If anything it was my team mates that was trying to annoy the killers quite alot lol. Now I'm a killer main and a huge percentage of my matches has some sort of toxic behaviour from survivors, usually post match ranting. That's just my experience tho, others might have a different experience but if killers get the same experience I get then I can understand why they lash out.
Like I said, you are more likely to encounter a toxic survivor than a toxic killer, simply because of how many players of each role are present on one DBD trial.
If the game had was, idk, 4v4, you would see both in equal measure.
-
@Prometheus1092 said:
It's not what I would do but I can see why some killers do it... Too long being bagged at gates and even pallets knowing there is nothing the killer can do about it. Years of survivor torment and toxic behaviour during match and post match...killers are fighting back lol
The "years of survivor torment and toxicity" isn't exactly the truth, I'd say. In truth, toxic survivors aren't a majority out there, there are just as many toxic killers.
But every match of DBD has 4 survivors and 1 killer, so you are more likely to encounter a toxic survivor, regardless of which role you are playing.

Oh, wait, you ment the other way around, my B.
Uhm…….I guess the pallet vacuum fix or smt?
Oh and Skull Merchant so people had years to adapt to her.Yep, it is a question that I don't think has ever been asked before, but I was amused by the possibilities.
And I gotta say I agree with your choices, my friend!. I've recently started playing a bit of Skull Merchant myself, and despite her unnecessary nerfs and the sheer amount of toxicity I'm getting, she is really fun to play.

The hug changes that we have now as survivor would have been pretty neat in old dbd. I think that would be cool. I missed a cool era of time when Coldwind was dark and eyrie. I think it would be fun if some of the coldwind maps had a day and night verison.
Dark and eerie Coldwind Farm was truly amazing, my friend, it is really unfortunate they got rid of it.
And the HUD changes are useful for the survivors, though I still prefer the old UI we used to have.

Hooks not being destroyed forever after a kill. It was just another thing to waste brainpower on which made no logical sense. Even now, I don't think they should have to 'respawn.' They shouldn't be destroyed at all.
Interestingly enough, this actually used to be a thing, with the original Hangman's Trick. Though really not worth the perk slot.

I didn't play him when he FIRST released, so I only remembered the 24 meter version. You're right... slap monitor on the 16 meter version and call it a day. With the machine gun combo+ rapid, you'd be ending chases SUPER fast against anyone who doesn't wake up ASAP.
This would be a deadly combination.
Especially considering how the first hit with Freddy is easier due to him being invisible before the Dream Transition.

Well, unanimous vote went to current object, specifically ([{#### that perk)}]
Individually, aside from that:
Artist
Midwitch (he wasn't picky about either version)
DS disable conditions
Well, tell the one of you who chose Midwich that it is a hell of a good choice.
That map was a good fit for DBD's horror atmosphere when it first released. It could have been here since the early days and it wouldn't feel out of place.

OG Freddy got aura reading on survivors outside his TR. I use to run monitor on him because of this. Unforeseen though COMPLETELY hides the TR. You'd be constantly catching survivors...
True, but you mentioned the original Freddy. Before his first nerfs, he had a 16 metres TR at base.
Its enough to catch survivors unaware.

Adrenaline also no longer counters him. Imagine OG Freddy with the green beam range addon+class photo. Combo that with current base speed hit cooldown, original STBFL+Unrenting, rapid brutality and maybe unforeseen.
Why Unforeseen though?
-
I've seen it at 50% on killer last night, but it does seem like the 100% bonus just disappeared.
-
Freddy would get some interesting effects.
Every survivor would start the trial asleep and get hit with the Blindness status effect for 150 seconds after dropping a Dream Pallet. Freddy can no longer cancel the teleport, but he gets 20 seconds of killer instinct on anyone who was close to the gen.
Dream Snares are just gone.

Dedicated servers.
Admittedly, they've been in the game for longer than they weren't, but they were the single biggest improvement to the general state of the game.
It was tortuous having to invite all your friends to a lobby, queue for 10 mins, finally get into a proper lobby (assuming nobody got disconnected at that point, which was common), then all get booted back to the main menu because the killer dodged and then have to do it all again. Sometimes we would go an hour without a game, and that's not even taking into account the mid-load crash bug that plagued the game for the first half of 2019.
That bug cost me an original Class Photo add-on years ago. Those were valuable ya know?
In all seriousness though, the dedicated servers were an improvement.
@LordGlint said:
Actually, I also wanna see OG Freddy with TODAY'S meta. Curious how that would work out. I remember alot of ppl using selfcare to wakeup mid chase before. No one really uses selfcare anymore though...
He would be a good fit.
People never appreciated the Dream World slowdown and the aura reveal when he was around, but I think they would now. Self-Care is no longer a factor, and even chases would be easier now that many maps have been nerfed to oblivion.
But you know a meta that would have been perfect for him? Circle of Healing.
The Dream World slowdown would cut CoH's healing bonus in half, and with the aura reveal all you would have to do is pay attention to where survivors were going. They would lead you straight to their totem.

Too bad you can't save all the survivors from the fate of camping, tunneling and slugging. Our legion is much larger.
Haha, I'm sad to report this sacred duty of mine is not being appreciated.
The amount of toxicity I've gotten in the past few days due to playing Skull Merchant is unreal.

Who is to blame that the killer's side is preferred only by people who want to win? The rest of the players were driven away by nerfs. It is quite natural that the most persistent with a very unpleasant character will remain on the killer's side in the game. Such killers are used to overcoming difficulties.
The right question would be. Where did the chase killers and 12 hooks go? After all, if the killer is easy to play. Why does the survivor lobby look like an eternal holiday of sad tactics? Why do we get a 100 prestige Nurse who plays as if her life depends on it? Perhaps because the chase killers and 12 hooks simply do not play on the killer's side.
I mean that noble killers are in the minority. Being noble is simply unprofitable. But campers and tunnelers are legion.
Where did the chase killers and 12 hooks go?
Well… I am still here.

With how many games are taking advantage of the "classic" versions of them I would not be surprised if DbD would do the same at this point.
It would most likely be a limited time mode, but itd still be cool

Yes, that change came very quickly if I recall correctly. Too much clutter.
I'm going to have to search for a couple videos or VODs, because now I want to see it.
I wasn't around for the release of the End Transmission chapter (though I did get to see the infamous "It wasn't programmed to harm the crew"). There is quite a significant number of things from the modern DBD that I didn't get to experience.
-
Perhaps a few DCs here and there, but it doesn't seem the behavior of survivors going against Houndmaster is the same as when survivors go against Skull Merchant.
I've playing SM recently and I have gotten a lot of toxicity, something that I hadn't seen since the days of Forever Freddy (a build that yes, I did use quite a bit). And in those games I didn't camp or tunnel anyone. I didn't BM, I didn't hit them on hook, I didn't do anything to warrant toxicity. Still got hit with tbags (from a survivor who died, mind you) and post-game chat toxicity.
All because of the character.
I don't think the same happens with Houndmaster, even if she isn't fun to go against.

It work reliably cause it's survivor sided but absolutely broken for killer. if i stared at unknown or ghostface for .1 seconds look away and get 3 seconds of guaranteed cleansing? Extremely frustrating, your seeing this completely one-sided my friend I'm sorry
I don't think so, my friend.
In discussions like this one it is very important to consider the other side. People often complain about the flaws of the reveal mechanic for the killers, but the survivor side is rarely taken into consideration. And it needs to be.
Survivors are supposed to actually use the mechanic, it is the intended counterplay for both killers. It is also extremely frustrating when Ghostface manages to expose you when you were clearly looking at him, but you couldn't do the intended counterplay because the mechanic didn't work properly. The same doesn't happen as often with the Unknown, because his mechanic is actually a reliable source of counterplay, at least in my experience.
Things don't need to be the same as PTB Ghostface (which would be a one-sided take if it had been said), but the mechanic needs to work properly.

Hahaha, I appreciate the compliment, my friend, but to be fair it didn't take much.
I just thought about the main complaint me and other OG Freddy mains had: being unable to stop survivors from interacting with the objectives during the Dream Transition, and DBD just happened to release a new status effect that conveniently prevented survivors from interacting with objectives.

This is literally true of every single Killer. Once you know the counterplay they're pretty easy to deal with. The problem is people would rather have their hands held than learn counterplay.
Unknown suffers a similar issue to Ghostface because it uses the same Reveal mechanic - that being that the reveal mechanic is finicky at times. The difference between Unknown and Ghostface is that Unknown has to hit three times to down someone. Ghostie only has to hit once.
Maybe, but I think the difference is that the Unknown's reveal mechanic isn't frustrating for the survivors, because it actually works.

It doesn't surprise me. When it comes to nerfing killers, this community and these devs can be very petty and vitriolic. No one in their right mind would have taken the 2 scanners on drones and changed it to 1. Even after Skull Merchant's been nerfed for like the 3rd time, they still rage quit on sight against her, or say she's OP.
What they've been doing is crutching on 1 example they were given which supposedly proves that Skull Merchant 3-genning is OP. I'm referring to that 1 cocky Skull Merchant main/bully vs Team Eternal match. This was when she had Exposed instead of the new claw traps, but it changes little. That team has got to be the biggest group of fakes I've ever seen in competitive gaming. They don't deserve the "best team in world" title as so many suckers have been conned into believing. 1) They did nothing to split the map, nor '99 the second to last gen, even though they knew coming into the match that he was gonna 3-gen them. They just gave him a free 3-gen. 2) Once they were in the 3-gen, they played laughably bad. They threw down multiple pallets when they didn't need to, didn't use that time the killer spent breaking to push gens harder, and even allowed themselves to get downed and hooked with no added gen pressure in exchange. - Every time they switched to some other teammate when that happened, what were they doing? Nothing. Just walking around, not attempting a flashlight save when in position to, and barely running back to gen to work on it for 5 seconds when they know it should've been 20+ seconds WITH 2 or more people. So that's why a meathead Skull Merchant held "the best team" for 30+ minutes. 4 of me, in my mediocrity, would have been a better team of opponents. Hens' fake excited commentary just tricked people into thinking they were watching something high level. An M1 holding a 4-man on comms at a standstill. What a laugh.
So she should have her nerfs reverted. We should be balancing around players who understand basic strategy and game sense, not people who know nothing and contribute nothing. They're just gonna keep nerfing killers until current Freddy is the most "viable," because they don't understand anything, especially not the real balance issues of the game.
Having only a single scan line is ridiculous, I agree.
And honestly, I don't even mind that people complained about her original version. But her previous iteration, the one we had before the recent nerfs, was completely fine. She was not overpowered, not even in the slightest, and people would've learned this fact if they didn't DC every time the killer happened to be Skull Merchant.
I've had full solo queue games where we all escaped against SM simply because everyone in the team decided to stick around and actually play the match. But instead of players adapting we get another Freddy situation, exactly the same thing that happened in october of 2017: something that is perfectly fine for the game gets nerfed because people just don't want to learn.
It is wild that it has happened with SM, when there is a clear example in Freddy as to why this shouldn't be done. I strongly believe her nerfs should be reverted and people should be explicitly told to learn and understand the killer, instead of DCing every single time.

Yeah there have been gross metas on both sides, any killer who played through the original Mettle Of Man days and is still playing the game has a high tolerance for misery. Can you imagine every survivor having a free 3rd chance? And it was pretty much every survivor in a lobby as why would you not run it?
Currently killers are abusing the ridiculous state of Thrill, so hopefully they sort that or at the very least kill switch it in the meantime.
Old MoM was easily one of the most infuriating perks they've ever designed.
Playing a M1 killer back then was genuinely miserable.

I knew this the moment the nerf was announced. Heck, even before that, when Unknown appeared on the devs' game plan, I knew. This community is so slow to catch on to stuff like this. And the rest of them will never say a killer nerf was unwarranted, because they don't play the role.
And the rest of them will never say a killer nerf was unwarranted, because they don't play the role.
I think it depends on the circumstances.
Many players here were against the introduction of the Overheat mechanic for Hillbilly, and those comments came from both killer mains and survivor mains.
Just wish the same had happened with Skull Merchant, because those recent nerfs were completely unnecessary.

Honestly, my friend, I think the perk is good and healthy for the game.
Personally I would have replaced the exposed downside with aura reveal, but I don't the perk is causing any problems right now. I've already had it used against me, and it barely has an impact if you're already spreading hooks.
It is good against hard tunnelers, which is something DBD absolutely needed. Tunneling should never go unpunished.
It would be nice if solo queue managed to catch up and use this perk more often, but this is very unlikely.

I don't think this is needed.
It is okay to have a chance of escaping. In fact I don't think any perks should deactivate after the gates are powered.
And yes, I know people will mention DS. But players didn't get hit by unexpected decisive strikes during the end game, they knew tunneling always comes with its risks.
