  • Pros: you destroy the game

You are matched with the survivors the same "skill" as you. this is how it should be. Why should you get to pummel noobs who will not enjoy the game just as you are not enjoying having to try.

Yeah, except for the part where the survivors were much, much more better than me and I got steam rolled. Then I had to play sweaty, and even though I don't speak for everyone I think its safe to assume no one in this game likes going up against a really sweaty killer or sweaty people in general.

I don't wanna just beat noobs constantly since that gets boring extremely fast but constantly going up against *really* good people gets mentally tiring really damn fast.

  • Isn't Blight lore wise one of the, if not the strongest killer in the game? It was mentioned in his lore that he has killed killers before.

that's your problem. are you going to stay in a structure against a nurse. no because you will get hit. then why you stay in a structure when you know she can move fast.

I don't always stay in structures against a spirit unless I'm stuck in a deadzone and it's my only option, and even if I do run away the spirit will usually realize quickly that the scratch marks lead away from the loop, thus they catch up quickly and you get whacked, or if I start walking away they pay attention to the grass movements or the breathing sounds.

Unlike spirit, Nurse gives the survivor information on what she's going to do. When she activates her ability it makes an audio cue for the survivor and the survivor can see how long she holds her blink for. Just before she blinks a smoke trail appears and shows where she will be going.

Just like playing against good survivors as m1 killer is having odds against you:

if you don't mindgame, you're forced to power through loops and lose the game.

if you mindgame, you're at disadvantage by definition, since survivor has 3rd person view and can see the direction you're looking at, while you don't have such privilege.

That is actually a good comparison, in both scenarios there isn't much the player can do and as such it becomes a unfair and unfun situation to be in.

I don't have a problem with mindgames, in fact I believe that's its absolutely necessary to have in the game but when spirit phases there isn't any clue or hint on where she could be and it becomes a guessing game which isn't fun. With normal mindgames you atleast have some information to go off of but spirit gives you nothing to work with at all.

I don't want permanent vision on her on all times, I don't want her to be gutted but all im asking for is some kind of hint, even if it's small, that she's phasing in a chase. She'd still be a strong killer.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2023424#Comment_2023424

It's not hard to guess. If she stands still just don't run towards her and you don't get hit. If shes far away from you then she's likely phasing to catch up. I can't remember ever falling for the stand still mindgame. Just position yourself for all possibilities. And seriously play her, that's how I learn to predict her. A lot of spirits are very predictable.

I don't really care too much about the standing still mindgame as it can be ignored in most situations, but if your looping a structure and the spirit starts standing still then your options become incredibly limited and it turns into a guessing game where the odds are stacked against you.

And really? Playing as spirit isn't even close to proper counterplay. Just spend money to learn how to counter the killer 10head! Yeah sure you may be able to predict what the spirit will do slightly better if they're okish but once again, against good spirits it all turns into a guessing game. Even good survivors struggle against spirit because how unpredictable she can be in a chase.

Judging by your previous posts it obvious that you have a bias for killer, and it's becoming clearer to me that I can't have a proper debate if your not willing to acknowledge my points. If your countering a spirit consistently in a chase, that's not you being good, that's the spirit being bad.

The most hilarious thing is that people are perfectly fine when M1 killers are forced to mindgame and guess survivor's movements (while survivors use their 3rd person cam and red light advantage), but go completely nuts when killer gets that kind of advantage and they lose it.

    Survivor's hypocrisy at its finest.

I hate M1 killers because whenever I play them it feels as if I'm forced to use bamboozle on them just so I don't get looped for 5 minutes on dumb structures. If it were up to me, I'd give every current M1 killer at least some form of anti loop to prevent situations where they get looped for very long amounts of time.

  • @Dizzy1096 said:

Why do people act like it’s a fact she needs massive and obvious counterplay? So she can become the next Demogorgan?

Half the things ok the survivor side, maps as well have very little counterplay and killers have to learn to live with it. Just use pallets and windows and learn to read Spirits. Its like survivors arent happy if the counterplay is anything more demanding than “press space bar to drop pallet for complete safety”.

No, I don't want spirit to become some F-Tier killer, all I'm asking for is some kind of hint that she's phasing. I don't want it to be overly obvious like what happened when she was bugged, but at the bare minimum just a small audio cue telling the survivor that the spirit is phasing.

And don't bring whataboutism into this, I absolutely hate dead hard, OoO, haddonfield, and all the other stupid stuff there are on the other side and I'd really like it if they were nerfed, but just because those things are broken doesn't mean that Spirit is a balanced killer. The whole problem with Spirit is that you have to guess if she's going to phase or not, and despite what you and others may think, there isn't any real counterplay to it (unless your using iron will and the spirit isn't using stridor). It's a guessing game where the odds are stacked heavily against you pretty much ensuring that if its a good spirit you get screwed over quickly.

And stop with the petty over generalization. I could say stuff like "Killers are never happy unless every map in the game has no pallets or vaults and they can instantly win the match whenever they feel like it." But I won't because it isn't true. Most people, me included, just want a fairer chance against her. Look at Blight, Oni, and old hillbilly. Those killers are very strong but also offer up a fair amount of counter play ensuring that both sides have a fair chance against each other. No one complains about them, despite the fact that they're strong because they have fair counterplay.

  • 2 wrongs don't make a right. Just because she tried to 4 percent in your face doesn't justify the fact that you left her on hook to die, which pretty much threw the game for your other teammates. In this situation, you were both in the wrong.

  • Blight is the most powerful, even surpassing Oni and Demogorgon. In his lore it was hinted that he has killed killers before.

With licensed killers it'd probably be Pyramid head.

  • The game was balanced around 4 perks, adding any more then that even if its just a hex totem would completely destroy the balance of the game. Yes, hex totems can be destroyed but even then it would still be a massive benefit, just imagine builds like rundying, enduring + spirit fury, and tinkerer.

  • Damn dude, didn't know you have the same experiences as me! Anything that you haven't experienced yourself or something you disagree with just hasn't happened right? I play both survivor and killer, and if you bothered to read my entire post you would've seen that I also said that survivor is really unfun right now as well. I never asked for a buff for killers, I just said that lately I've been encountering much more experienced survivors, which I don't have a problem with but when its every single match then that becomes very unfun. I don't wanna just play the killers I'm good with with meta builds, sometimes I wanna practice another killer without having to make the experience unfun for the survivors.

How do you know they're not playing for fun and happen to be winning against you too?

Because I personally asked some of them if they were playing for fun and they said they weren't because they were getting Killers who were tunneling and camping them.

  • Sweaty for me would be when people no longer play the game to have fun or enjoy it, but just to win. Granted, not all the players I played against were sweaty but they were extremely efficient on gens which means I had to play very efficiently which isn't very fun for me or the survivors. It's not bad when I get it sometimes but getting it super consistently makes the game become very unfun.

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

I'm really starting to hate the term "sweaty".

All I hear is "I hate it when players are trying to actually win the game".

My bad, I guess what I meant to say is that in my recent matches the survivors have been really efficient on objectives which means I also have to be really efficient and even though its not bad to have a sweaty game once in a while, getting it consistently is a headache.

  • What? I'm not asking for the game to be made easier for anybody, I'm just saying that lately I've been encountering really sweaty games where I need to also be sweaty, which isn't fun. I've had sweaty matches before, but never this consistently.

  • Using perks isn't toxic at all, and don't listen to the people who say they are. Feel free to use whatever you want to.

Blight is strong against average survivors that make mistakes. A good survivor team will clean him up.

"A good survivor team will clean him up." Have you seen a competitive Blight game? Blight's literally an S-tier killer, especially when you bring strong perks and his really good addons. I've mained him since release and I've gone up against 4 mans who definitely knew what they were doing and I still got a 4k against most of them.

Son, Blight is a joke at the highest level of play and comparing him to the Nurse is lunacy.

Sounds like someone hasn't ever watched a competitive game with a good Blight. He has the best mobility in the game combined with really strong chase and some crazy addons (alchemist ring, speed addons, iri addons) which makes him absolutely the third best killer in the game. Despite the fact that his attack turns are only 30 degrees it can be increased up to a full 180. As long as the person that's playing him is really good then he's very powerful.

  • @Dizzy1096 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1985181#Comment_1985181

lmao you guys are dreaming. Winning a few average players in public games does not make those killers viable for the top percentage of players.

What are you talking about? Go look at competitive games with Blight and the Twins. Those two are atleast top 5 in the competitive scene. Blight is essentially nurse with mobility and the Twins have amazing synergy with gen defense perks since they can pressure two spots on the map. What kind of nonsense are you talking about?

  • That would still be incredibly overpowered. Clown would move at that speed 90 percent of the time because he would be able to use his bottles constantly.

  • No side in the game has a consistent advantage. There's just way to many RNG and matchmaking factors that sway towards one side. For example, lets say a trapper with no addons goes up against an experienced team that gets a good Haddonfield. In that scenario, the game is going to be very survivor sided. Lets say that in another example an experienced nurse goes up against a bunch of newer survivors on Dead dawg saloon. In that scenario the game is going to be very killer sided.

In short, the game isn't survivor or killer sided, its RNG sided.

  • The place where Blight injected himself was father campbells chapel.

    1. Blight
    2. Hillbilly
    3. Oni
    4. Clown
    5. Deathslinger
  • Using the excuse that 360's aren't realistic is an awful excuse. Do you think people getting repeatedly mowed down by chainsaws and getting put on meat hooks multiple times is realistic?

  • Dead hard to extend chases and other things, Decisive strike to avoid getting tunneled, Kindred to get info on where your teammates are and to help them coordinate saves, and the last one depends on what you wanna run.

  • No, they won't. It'll just be the same as before, a mostly balanced experience. It just sounds like your having a matchmaking issue.

And what type of nerfs to killers are you talking about? All the killers in the game are viable and can be good as long as your good with them (and have some good addons for the more addon dependent killers.)

  • If survivor gameplay is easy, then that means the killer your going up against isn't good. Like the other guy said, if the other side is bad at the game then whatever side your playing will be easy.

  • Yeah....DBD has never been a horror game. Sure, it might have been scary in the first 20 hours but after that most people get over the fear. Other than the occasional jump scares the game itself really isn't all that scary. Theres nothing wrong with the tricks survivors have, the game isn't realistic at all anyways and even if you removed them the game still wouldn't feel like a survival horror game.

  • You know, I've never heard anyone propose what I'm about to propose, but what if the Spirit got her own chase music and whenever she phased certain instruments would play or something that would change the music slightly to warn the survivor that she's phasing? I think it would be pretty cool, having to carefully listen to the chase music in order to predict where she might be.

  • I'm not too sure if I'm being honest here. The problem with Deathslinger is that his extremely powerful chase mechanics are all he has. He doesn't have any natural information gathering or map mobility, so if he gets his chase nerfed he'll likely end up in the trash tier. If people want him to be more fun to play against he'll need a full on rework otherwise he'll get crippled.

  • @Dingo88 said:

Yea but when I run iri i only run nurses and corrupt with it so i don't C why I'm being complained at for running it as I'm putting myself at a disadvatage and still get moaned at when I 4k

Still doesn't change the fact that iri head is extremely strong, you could have a single perk and you can still win with how strong it is.

  • In my experience solo queue is genuinely one of the most unfun, stressful, and unfair things I've experienced in multi-player games.

More often then not I will either get bad teammates, boring killers, or just get BS (Getting hit when I shouldn't have.)

I do actually have some fun games but those are rare.

  • Yeah, the lack of empathy in this community just creates an extremely toxic place.

I've seen soooo many people who just play one side and could care less about the other side. I've seen killer mains who think every single survivor is a toxic scumbag who will use all the meta perks and tryhard, likewise I've also seen survivors who think every killer tunnels and camps.

I also agree with you on the whole no matter what BHVR does they're going to get a lot of complaints about it. I don't think they're perfect beings who could never do any wrong but with how this community is BHVR could buff 40 mediocre/bad perks and nerf like, 2 meta perks on survivor or nerf a killer and the community would say "BHVR has a bias against X side!"

Its seriously annoying and saddening to see. If people would just play the other side and acknowledge the problems with their own side the community would be a much, much better place.

The problem with your argument is that it implies that you have a similar level of experience and both words are being used in their original intention. In which case you are absolutely right, "genrushing" is an excuse for poor play by the killer.

If you just started playing the game, at most have maybe a few dozen rounds under your belt, and likely you're three teachables unmaxed are your best perks on a killer you are still trying to figure out you're argument loses most of it's merit.

The reason why is because the most common argument opposed to 'tunneling" is that it isn't fun to be tunneled. It's also not fun to lose a game because you barely know what you are doing and the four people act like you are some kind of scum bag for losing. The reality is that even at rank 20-15 you will still have purple/red ranks say some messed up ######### after stomping someone with literal years less experience than them.

This is then exacerbated by the fact that "tunneling" is predominantly used as an excuse for poor play on the survivors behalf in higher ranks. The killer is not obligated to let a survivor go because they behaved predictably or stupidly. If you get unsafe unhooked and your choice is to run right back to the gen you were picked off from, or worse, selfcare under the damn hook or body block for the unhooker when you don't have bt that's not the killers bad, yet commonly it will be called the killers bad even if your Frosty self would never do that, which I am honestly assuming you wouldn't.

When you are dealing with a scenario where almost any response from the other team is an accusation of unfair play instead recognizing they lost due to poor decisions you just stop caring. Which is why I'd argue that from it's most frequent usages tunneling is the same as genrushing, as they are both made up words used by players to rationalize being an agro jerk post game.

I didn't say that gen rushing doesn't exist, just that most people use the term incorrectly, just like tunneling. My definition of tunneling is when a killer will repeatedly and purposely only go after one survivor and ignore the other survivors, even when doing so will lose them the game.

Newer players are an exception to the whole tunneling thing since they're new and don't really understand the mechanics of DBD fully.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1903900#Comment_1903900

With that logic tunneling doesn't excist either outside of an Marth skilled nurse.

If you play the best survivor perks and you and your team play well you also can't be tunneled and say Damn i was powerless to stop it

    So still no difference

Once again Gen rush =/= Tunneling. Tunneling is when a killer repeatedly and purposely goes after one survivor and ignores the rest, atleast thats my definition of it. Gen rushing is something like marths depip squad, basically a group of survivors who will ONLY focus on generators and will purposely leave each other to die on hook in order to pump out more gens.

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1903900#Comment_1903900

Tell that to gen rush squads with 4 full power toolboxes when your playing a slow/low tier killer.

You may be able to stop it with a more powerful killer yes but NOT WITH MOST OF THE KILLER CAST!

Ps. By your own logic tunneling doesn't exist either.

    Gen rush =/= Tunneling

Please reread my message, I said gen rushing doesn't *really* exist, atleast the type that most people use. What actual gen rushing is something like Marths depip squad. Just because a team has 4 good toolboxes does not mean its impossible to beat with a low/medium tier killer, just very hard and RNG dependant.

  • Aw hell yeah let's nerf a killer that needs a ton of skill to play! I'm sure you'd like to go up against more deathslingers, spirits, freddys, and phead right?

  • @ausanimal said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1903900#Comment_1903900

And yet any form off pressure from perks, combos or killers that can apply more pressure and allow for more chasing survivors want nerfed, Like someone said before PGtW, nurse, Freddy, ruin+undying stuff that helps apply pressure are getting changed/nerfed, instead of survivors learning how to get better at the game and work around these things its just more easy to nerf/change them to make them more easy for survivors to deal with.

No? Not all survivors want good killers nerfed. Look at Blight, every single survivor I've seen has stated that he's a very fun balanced killer to play against. Freddy has way to much in his base kit, he has teleportation, good anti loop, natural slowdown (dream world) and anti BT. I dont want him to get a flat out nerf but its clear that if you aren't a killer main that he needs changes. Rundying, especially on good killers like Blight and Nurse can make it so that solo survivors get destroyed easily. Pop is still really good, not sure why people treat it like garbage, I still find tons of value with it and also still have plenty of time to kick a gen with it. Also on the topic of the nurse change, unless your an entitled killer main it was painfully obvious she needed a nerfz omega blink and 5 blink nurse completely broke the game.

  • @JPA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1903900#Comment_1903900

Well yeah you are using the fastest Killer in the game with a build heavily based around gen defense, it makes sense you are well prepared againt gen rushers.

Try playing Huntress or Trapper against a good team.

I've played both against a good team, and I've also won with both of them. With Huntress I came across an experienced team while using corrupt + pop and even though the match was tough i managed to get some really good shots in on them and even managed to snipe twice that match (Map was also coal tower, maybe that helped me a bit since its smaller). With Trapper I came across another good SWF team but this time I was on Dead Dawg with Rundying + Corrupt + STBFL and I'll admit, the only reason why I won that match was because towards the end when there was only 1 gen left one of them messed up and tried to get an unhook in my face which failed which gave me the snowball I needed to win.

  • @Killing_Time said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1903900#Comment_1903900

Just apply pressure huh? You mean like the pressure Billy could apply before he was nerfed? Oop. You mean like the pressure you could apply with Nurse BEFORE the BUGS/NERF? Oop. You mean the pressure you can apply with Undying/Tinkerer/Ruin right now? Oop. You mean like the pressure Spirit can apply? Oop. You mean like the pressure Freddy can apply? Oop.

You can still apply really good pressure with Billy, just not as good as before, and I know this because he's my other main, right next to deathslinger, huntress, oni, and blight. You can still apply pressure with Nurse, just not as much as before, I also know this because I play her a decent amount although the bugs (which aren't as common as you think) do make her frustrating to play as. Rundying + Tinkerer will still be a good combo, even with undyings nerf. Also not sure what your trying to get at with Spirit and Freddy...Spirit hasn't been nerfed super hard yet and neither has Freddy so...you can still apply a ton of pressure with them.

  • Difference is that "gen rushing" doesn't really exist, unless we're talking about something like Marths depip squad. If your playing killer and multiple gens are getting down really quickly, your just not putting enough pressure on the survivors. I main blight and use pop + corrupt + tinkerer with him and I havent had game where I was like "Damn I was completely powerless to stop the survivors and they actually gen rushed me."

I'm telling you dude, 75% of games go like this, only when I 4k as wraith or some other ######### killer do i get a chance at respect, cool if you don't do this we'll get along just fine, but the majority of survs I do bad against or dare play a good killer for once, ######### hate me, ######### even if I do good as a good killer, I'm verbally just ######### berated at egc by 4 people, one of the reasons survs are such a circle jerk is bc they all just ######### jack eachother off in EG chat.

This is 90% of the reason it's miserable to play killer.

Not sure if your over exaggerating or not, but whenever I play as killer 99 times out of 100 the survivors won't say anything, say gg, or actually be nice to me, I rarely ever get disrespectful survivors and I've only come across a small handful of 4 man SWF survivors that are really toxic. Sounds like your just getting unlucky.

  • Fellas, is it cowardice to talk to your friends in DBD?

  • Even though I don't think it was the most imbalanced thing in the game, pallet vacuums are definitely up there on one of the strongest tools survivors used to have.

It was extremely frustrating when you were about to hit a survivor and they're able to vacuum a pallet and not get hit.

I don't think that is true. If you go watch any recent dbd tournaments there are NO hillbillys, like literally at all left. Only killers you see now are nurse and spirit. Back before hillbillys nerf you used to see at least few billys even in highest tournament level. Now hillbilly cannot reach that level anymore

Well of course he's not competitively viable anymore, most killers aren't and the ones that are extremely powerful.

He's still good and can beat good survivors, but yeah competitively he's not great.

  • Yeah, sometimes it seriously feels like the bloodweb will intentionally starve me of an addon or perk.

I really enjoy the speed addons for blight but god damn are they really annoying to get, I will sometimes have to level up 3 times in order to find just 1 or 2 speed addons.

so why did the devs go through with the hillbilly base-kit nerf? if what you say is true, does that mean devs balance for the usual noobs? is it too delusional and too late to think hillbilly will be reverted?

Even though most players didn't want Billy to be nerfed im guessing the devs still went through with it because his kill rate was really high (~75%)
