Surveillance nerf, Pyramid Head nerf, Undying nerf, Compound 21 nerf, Trickster nerf, Freddy nerf, iri head nerf, Twins nerf, more bad breakable walls. You probably already knew all this but I was nice and told you again.

Surveillance nerf was a bug fix, Pyramid Head nerf was needed since faking out his power was stronger than actually using his power (But also came with a buff which made using his power much better for beginners and people who just missed his attack) and seeing the aura of the cages let people tunnel hard. As a Blight main the compound 21 nerf was absolutely busted and needed a nerf, for being a green addon it had the strength of an iridescent addon. Trickster never got nerfed, unless your referring to his trick blades, and that nerf was needed to since people were using it in a way where the dev's never intended, and it made him really strong. I still believe he needs buffs, but that nerf was absolutely warranted. Freddy nerf was also warranted, he had way too many things in his kit without any punishment for it. Twins nerf I absolutely do not agree with, but I can see where the dev's are coming from. As long as they fix their time inefficiency, then I'll be fine with the 5 second cooldown. Bad breakable walls affect both sides.

Most of those changes you stated are awful examples of showing how the dev's "cater" to one side, they were for the most part warranted. And what about the other changes to survivor? If those changes make the dev's survivor sided, than what about the toolbox nerf, infinite removal, insta-heal nerf, DS and OOO nerfs, and more? Do those just not fit your narrative?

Also forgot to mention but the undying nerf was also completely warranted, having Ruin be saved up to 4 times was absolutely dumb and also having it have no synergy with token based hex's made it extremely limited with how you could use it. Yes, having your hex totems broken in the first minute of the game also sucks but that's an entirely different balance issue.

Edit: Also forgot about the iri head nerf, but I am really praying right now that you don't unironically think that it wasn't absolutely warranted. Even most killer mains agree that iri head + Infantry is the strongest thing in the game.

  • I've played and mained Blight since the PTB, and I've got to say, this is the worst his Collison has ever been. Took a couple day break from DBD and when I came back I decided to play Blight on mothers dwelling and had one of the most tilting matches of Blight. I slid off so many things which ultimately cost me the win, and there's nothing more I hate more than losing to bugs. Granted, I've won 97% of my matches as Blight but it's still incredibly annoying to look right at an object and watch as you slide off of it and go into a cooldown.

If spirit gets nerfed then your survivor main queue times will be 2 hours long.

BHVR isn't that stupid to completely kill their game by nerfing 1 of the 2 viable killers at red ranks

You are massively overestimating how good the average red rank survivor is. Most of them are complete trash at the game and can be easily killed, and even when you go up against decent or good survivors it doesn't mean you'll immediately lose, you just need to put in more effort. Every single killer in that department, apart from Trickster and Trapper is consistently viable in red ranks.

  • It isn't killer sided or survivor sided, anyone who says otherwise is just wrong unless they're specifically talking about a category like competitive level. DBD is mostly RNG sided because depending on how good the pallets and loops are it could either heavily sway in the killers side or the survivor side. It doesn't really matter how good you are if you get a fractured cow shed that has a lane pallet leading to a long wall leading into a another lane pallet leading into yet another long wall which connects to shack or a suffocation pit with 6 pallets on it.

  • I for one think that a 2v8 and even a 4v16 mode would be awesome for the game! It would breath so much more life into it. I'd especially be awesome in custom games!

  • Most people use the definition wrong and use it whenever they mess up and get punished for it or start losing gens early on, but the correct definition of gen rush would be Marth's depip squad, basically a team that focuses on pumping out gens as fast as possible, even if it means sacrificing a teammate or their self.

He does have a high difficulty, because the vast majority of people that attempt to play him don't even know how to run tiles with his knives, and when to get the knives into people. Also people don't know that he is meant to be played as a killer that excels in finding people out of position, and push them to weak tiles or into a bad spot. If someone is in a bad zone they won't have a chance. Also a lot of bad Tricksters run STBFL on him even though it's the biggest waste of a perk slot on him. He has an incredibly high skill cap, but is dragged down a bit by the fact that his recoil still exists when it shouldn't even be there in the first place. I've yet to play against a moderately decent Trickster. I play him on PC too. In fact if we go off actual stats I have 6.2k full laceration damage on him, and am #4 global with him. So I have sunk a lot of time into him a little too much infact. He's not an easy pickup, because there is very few people who actually know how to run tiles with him in the first place. If people did maybe we wouldn't be in the position where people call him a terrible killer when he isn't. I still think he needs at least to be put up to 115%, and he would be fine, but even then he still isn't an easy pick up, because most people just don't have the mechanical skill to even play him properly to begin with.

Wanna know who else can punish survivors who get out positioned? Nurse, Spirit, Blight, Huntress, Bubba, Oni, Hilbilly, I could go on and on, so already on of the things he excels at is done considerably better by many other killers or at least done on an equal level. And because of his awfully designed power, yeah sure you might be able to shred mediocre survivors but even just ok survivors will know to not put themselves in a bad position against trickster and because of that you will have an extremely hard time trying to down people in a quick amount of time due to his extreme weakness with places like shack, cow tree, and jungle gyms.

Wanna know who else can force survivors to bad tiles? Clown, Phead, Demo, Blight, and yet again I can keep going on about how his strengths are already done better by most of the cast. Almost everything he does can be done even better by most other killers. Combine that with the fact that a core part of his power, main event, is so awful that it can be countered by just running around a tall rock or going behind a wall and you essentially just get a much more weaker and situational Huntress/Deathslinger.

  • @Pulsar said:

    I agree.

He suffers from the same issues that old Legion did.

If you buff him at all, you run the risk of him being totally broken in chases with no chance for an outplay. With how many knives he has and how fast he throws them, any reduction to the amount of knives needed to down could tip the scales too far.

He's just poorly designed. He has all of the problems of Old Legion without any of the strengths.

Yup, that's the main issue I have with him that I've expressed to other people. Right now he's in an awful spot where his power is both oppressive and incredibly weak. If you leave him as he is now, then he'll end up exactly where legion is, basically no one plays him but if you buff him then he might become overpowered.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

It's mostly a Crotus problem. Too many smoke effects probably, maybe a texture or two that's unnecessarily detailed. It's been tanking 1080 ti's so it's an optimization issue.

Ah, makes sense. I've been having much worse FPS on those maps compared to any other, so I guess it isn't the game as a whole, just those two.

  • Trickster has the same problems as old legion and the same stupid design decisions as old legion. Extremely annoying in the chase department because no matter how god like you are in the game you WILL go down in a certain amount of time which is painfully unfun and being outplayed because the gen was placed in the corner of the map or the only loop you have is a loop where the Trickster can throw over is frustrating. Despite the fact that you can loop him hard around stuff like Killer shack and how he isn't a very good Killer it still isn't fun to play against him.

  • Survivor for sure, atleast as killer i have the power to influence the game but as survivor it mostly depends on your teammates which means if they're bad, no matter how good you are you will lose most of the time, and there's nothing I despise more than feeling like there was nothing I could do to change the outcome of the match.

Combine that with the fact that some killers will camp, tunnel, and do other really frustrating tactics or you'll go up against killers like deathslinger and Phead then you've got a recipe for a incredibly frustrating and boring experience. That's not to say that survivor is always unfun and killer is always fun but I've personally had more frustrations with survivor than killer.

  • That's subjective, some people find playing Killer more calm than playing Survivor but usually it's because as Killer you have to be active the entire match while as Survivor there will be small periods of time in a match where you will be on a gen which is pretty easy to do.

  • Dang, I never actually thought about this before, it makes much more sense now that I think about it although I'm kind of worried that if they do nerf the spirit and add a fatigue that she'll become too similar to the other killers that can catch up quickly, more specifically Blight.

  • Moris shouldn't provide any advantage whatsoever. They were meant to just be a way to get a cool looking kill animation, not as a way to give yourself a competitive advantage. Imagine if instead of being items keys were instead offerings, just imagine how incredibly broken that would be. Now Imagine a buffed ebony mori being used in conjuction with really strong addons and a strong build, and you've essentially won the game before it even started.

  • Doctor is also receiving a visual rework, and he looks waaaay better but I don't have the images.

I was being sarcastic what the #########-

I literally main Pyramid Head. I've said and will say time and time again he's incredibly strong and the more everyone underrated him the better I can do.

Yeah my bad, didn't pick up on the sarcasm.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2114820#Comment_2114820

nah it's just like how pyramid head is now f-tier and they nerfed him just to get hype for silent hill.

just like how ghostface is back to his ptb version

just like how demo is getting nothing but nerfs in the upcoming change which is immidiately after his release-

    oh nevermind

Dude, if you genuinely believe that Phead is an F-tier killer, you are objectively wrong. At worst he's a low A-tier killer, I've been playing him for a while and he's still an incredibly strong killer. And how is GF back to his ptb version? If I'm not wrong they haven't nerfed or changed him since his release, and the Demogorgon changes are objective buffs, and before you say something about rat liver watch Scott Junds video on how the nerf to it doesn't mean jack.

  • These are also the dev's who gave us descend beyond, cursed legacy, stranger things, silent hill, and chains of hate. Your point is?

  • That's why most people compare him to old legion, they share many similarities like how despite the fact that they're really bad, they will down you eventually no matter what you do which makes for really frustrating and unsatisfying gameplay.

I'm not sure what everyone else thinks about this but I feel like tricksters in a really sensitive spot right now where if he gets buffed a little too much he becomes an extremely oppressive killer (Like Legion with old franks mixtape) but if he stays where he is now he's going to be absolute garbage.

  • Not everything in this game needs counterplay. Some things will just be unfair, and you'll have to accept it.

  • I've mained him since release and have probably mastered him or really close, and my guess as to why he's a rare sight is that he's a pretty tough killer to learn. You have to learn which loops are effective to use with his power, which ones aren't and on top of that deal with his annoying bugs, like sliding off of stuff and bouncing off of hatch. Also console players suffer massively when playing Blight since they can't flick, so that's a good chunk of the player base unable to play Blight.

But if you stick with him and practice frequently he becomes one of the strongest Killers, and imo rivals Spirit for second strongest Killer.

  • Survivors aren't scared because they aren't in an actually life threatening situation. You aren't some bloodthirsty killer about to kill some helpless survivors, your a regular human being up against 4 other regular human beings in an online multiplayer video game.

  • I believe that Blight would win. Canonically he is the strongest killer in the game and he has strong ties with the Entity.

  • I'd recommend Blight since imo he's much more fun than nurse. If your going to learn nurse, be prepared to face tons of bugs and frustrations with her power.

  • For each hatchet you lose you gain 1% movement speed. Only works for 5 hatchets (You can't gain an extra 2% with infantry.)

  • Axe/Hammer - Lets a survivor break X amount of breakable walls. I thought about survivors being able to use it to stun the killer but I'm not sure how good that would be balance wise so for now they'd only be able to break walls

Pile of wood - Lets a survivor build one breakable wall. Takes X amount of seconds.

Cloak - When the survivor clicks the action button they'll wrap themselves in a cloak that will blend in with the environment. Has X seconds of usage. Also comes in different colors so it doesn't completely make you invisible and you have to hide in certain spots of the map to blend in better.

Blight Serum - Requires X amount of health states in order to get charged. When the Blight Serum is charged survivors will temporarily get powered up and can throw pallets and vault windows X% faster. Will be consumed upon using it and it has a 3 second start up time. Once charged it can also be saved up, so it doesn't get used up immediately. Also lasts X amount of seconds.

  • @M1MASTER said:

Just want to say that all the people who say Billy is A tier don't actually play him.

Why do you think that? He's still a very powerful killer with his map mobility and curves, the only thing that the nerf really took away from him was his strong addons and screwed up his POV. I play him frequently too.

    Hey there.

I have 2.5k hours in game, playing maybe 60/40 killer/survivor closer to 50/50 with a slight favour on killer.

This game is survivor sided at high levels of play (ranks don't determine skill).

The fact that the killer needs the survivors to slip up means that they are constantly behind in high levels of play, as they struggle to power through and get that early hook.

The viable killers at high levels of play are: blight, nurse, spirit, hag.

The other killers can be used if mained, but you have to master them for them to be good.

4 man swf are 6-7% of the gamebase.

However 3 man are 17% and still have a massive advantage. So 23-24% have a massive advantage. That's 1/4, on top of that they are more prevalent at high levels of play.

That's fair, the average player sucks after all.

But when matchmaking is released you'll see how wrong you are.

At the highest level of play, the game is survivor sided. I won't argue against that because it's a fact, but everywhere else its fair game. There are waaaaaay too many RNG elements to be able to pin point who the game favors consistently. I've had matches before where there are a total of 7 pallets on the map, and I've also been on the opposite side of that spectrum where the map has 25 pallets. Skill definitely comes into play but RNG is what ultimately decides who gets to win the match.

It doesn't matter if your a god at the game if more than half the map is a deadzone or if the map has 4 long walls combined into shack combined into cow tree.

And I've already had MMR experience with DBD, I got much more sweatier matches than I anticipated, especially with characters I played frequently like Blight, but guess what? I adapted, I used stronger builds and used stronger addons to level the playing field and bam, now the game is sort of fair, excluding the RNG.

  • I'm pretty sure that every setting above low makes the game look much, much more darker, so that could be why Autohaven is brighter for some people. Pretty sure Tru3 plays on ultra and Otz plays on low/medium. I play on low and autohaven looks pretty bright.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

It's certainly getting that way for both roles for me. As survivor I either get crappy teammates or killers who camp and tunnel at 5 gens and as killer I get esport wannabes who go for world record escape times. Even trying to just have fun with my friend in the game has become a chore because it's becoming more and more unfun with the way people currently act in the game.

You've pretty much nailed it. Many people on both sides just take the game too seriously and as a result use painfully unfun tactics whether it be getting camped or tunneled or getting survivors who send you to Haddonfield and clicky clicky. Even when I SWF with my friends I still don't have any fun and get really frustrated after just 3 matches, if not just 2. I don't even care about escaping matches or not at this point, I just want a fair and fun game where I feel like I genuinely got outplayed by the killer or outplayed them.

I still remember the most fun match I've had with solo survivor. It was on dead dawg saloon (My favorite map) against a good Blight (My favorite killer to go up against) with good teammates. The Blight didn't camp/tunnel/slug and was pretty nice in the end game chat and even managed to get a 3k with me barely escaping. I looped him, he outplayed me, just as it should be.

  • @Lord_Tony said:

SWF stacks the deck so heavily it's unfair

SWF are usually harder to beat than solo survivors, but just because some survivors are in a SWF doesn't instantly make them godlike or anything. Unless its a 4 or a 3 man that are pretty good at the game it won't be too much more harder to beat them, but hey it might just be because I mostly play good killers.

  • @Lord_Tony said:

maybe because the game is survivor sided and only 2 killers are viable at red ranks

How is the game survivor sided? I'm not gonna go on a whole rant about how wrong you are but please play both sides before forming an opinion about one being too powerful. I have 1640 hours in the game and I play both sides frequently and there are a whole lot more viable killers at red rank. I've mained blight since release and even without abusing his J-flick I win most of my matches. I also play lots of huntress, Oni, Demo, pretty much every killer except Freddy, Pig, plague, Myers, and Hag.

The game screws over both sides and favors both sides constantly. The only role in the game that is blatantly overpowered is a competitive 4 man swf (Which are extremely rare anyways.)

And also don't act like red ranks is some big scary place with big scary people, most of my matches on both sides involve the killer not being that great at the game or the survivors having a collective IQ of -4.

  • @WaluigiTime said:

    Game too easy?

Not really, but ignoring the passive aggressive comment I don't even escape most of my matches. Most of the time it will be matchmaking screwing things up like my last game where I as a rank 1 got matched up with a rank 11, 9, and 7 teammates or me just being an idiot and getting myself killed or sacrificing myself for someone.

I dunno if you got the wrong idea but I'm not saying that survivor is a super hard role while killer is easy. I have frustrations on the killer side and enjoyment out the survivor side, the whole point of my post though is saying that I've just been having zero fun with survivor recently.

  • Timeline? There's no timeline, we have a Killer from ancient times to more modern killers like Trickster, and a bunch in between. Just because Trickster is from recent times doesn't mean we won't see killers from much older eras.

  • I agree that trickster is pretty bad but that tier list is....weird to say the least, atleast in my opinion.

  • @ilovedbd123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066878#Comment_2066878

I've done this before, but maybe because My condition for a win is 2 people or more escaping.

If you just mean escaping, my current win rate is 42 games as a solo survivor.

It doesn't take much, as most killers are mediocre at best, and they are weak against most survivors. If you make it difficult for them and they camp me but 2-3 escape I count that as a win, but that rarely happens. If a killer camps (I run kindred btw) I stomp out gens like they're nothing.

It isn't difficult if your mediocre at both loops and game knowledge/ decision making.

Yeah, without video evidence I seriously doubt that in solo queue for 42 matches in a row, not a single one of your teammates were bad enough to drag down the team while also simultaneously getting killers so mediocre that they always end the game with a 2k or less. The luck that's required for that is just insane unless you were in the low ranks, and even then if you were in the low ranks you should've had bad teammates. If you were in red ranks than the chances of getting teammates that are good at the game are better, but 42 times in a row? And not running into a single competent killer? I doubt it.

  • @Killing_Time said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066573#Comment_2066573

Survivors can EASILY defeat every Killer in the game... If they truly wanted to. Isn't that bad balance when they aren't the "power" role?

Easily? Yeah that's a massive over exaggeration. Unless we're talking about a competitive 4 man SWF with thousands of hours in the game here then there isn't a power role in the game (and even then they account for less than a percent of the total playerbase), and there shouldn't be a power role due to the massive imbalances that come with making one side completely OP.

If you think survivors can "easily" defeat any killer, then load up into a game as survivor and get 50 win streaks in a row while solo queueing. I'll wait.

  • The game was balanced around 4 perk slots, putting an extra one for killer would instantly destroy the balance of the game and end up killing the game. With an extra perk slot you could have extremely powerful builds that were not intended to be made.

  • Stop making up BS, the devs balance towards both sides and caters to both sides as well. Killer/Survivor mains will see a single buff to the other side or hell even just a bug fix and go to the forums to cry about how their side doesn't get anything. Do everyone a favor and grow up.

  • Who's asking for nerfs on Blight? I haven't seen a single complaint or post asking for a nerf, and even then on the extremely rare case one does show up everyone just tells them that he's a fun, fair, balanced killer, and I agree.

No one's gonna complain about him (Unless it's his J-flick)

  • Yeah, it really does suck that Trickster sucks. I want him to be a good killer, my first couple of matches with him were pretty fun until I started going up against people who knew what to do to counter him. Hopefully the upcoming buffs fix him.

  • There's so many things that are wrong with him its insane. Against good survivors he gets looped to death, hell even against just decent survivors he gets destroyed quickly. When he uses his knives he slows down a massive amount, slower than survivors which means that they can gain a lot of distance on you, combined with the fact that you need to hit 8 shots on them to injure the survivor you usually end up getting looped for long amounts of time which is a big no no on 110 killers. 110 killers need to have powers that end chases quickly otherwise they get destroyed due to the fact that they can't move as fast as the other killers which means gens will fly.

His other power, main event is also a massive detriment to him. First off, you can't really choose when it activates or not so sometimes you'll end up getting it during a chase when you don't need it or can't use it. Secondly, when you use main event you still move slower than survivors which means on certain loops you literally won't be able to hit them with your main event which causes you to get fatigued and unable to use your knives for a while.

Plus there's nothing he does right now that's better than other killers. You catch survivors in deadzones? Well other killers can capitalize on it way more than he can, like Bubba, Hillbilly, Spirit, etc. Your getting looped by a survivor? Well you could hit the survivor 8 times with your hatchet but Huntress only needs 1 hatchet to injure survivors and Deathslinger has a .15 second wind up time for his shot. He just isn't that special.

He's just Deathslinger/Huntress with a bunch of unnecessary steps.

  • Banning perks that some people paid for and forcing them to use other things isn't a good idea. It would do significantly more damage to dbd than positives.

  • I'm not entirely sure but I think Blight is the strongest killer physically, so whenever he used the serum its only natural that he'd be able to overpower the killers.

  • Seriously, some of the people here are so entitled and one sided it genuinely confuses me. I've seen people say that after a toxic match they'll put on extremely strong items/addons and offerings and take it out on the next group they go up against. It really says a lot about how they are as a person in general.

After a toxic match the worst I might do is put on a stronger build on the character that I'm playing but I always avoid keys, moris, OoO, and the other seriously broken stuff in the game. I just don't get how some people are so selfish that they think its ok to ruin other peoples enjoyment in the game because "they deserve it for playing that side!" or "I had my fun ruined in a match now I'm going to do the same thing against people who have done nothing to me!"

It just boggles my mind each time.

So survivors want un telegraphed instant movement for easy games. So why don't they admit it is strong and makes the game easy for them?

Your bias is showing. Survivor movement has stayed the same for 5 years, and to have it changed so drastically screwed up a lot of survivor players me included. Being able to turn corners sharpely is NEEDED for loops and when you take the ability to do that you make a lot of loops in the game much more weaker. Hell, even the devs said themselves that the animation changes wasn't suppose to change survivor movement, only how it looks.

How would you feel if the devs made it so that whenever a killer moved side to side or backwards there movement speed would be reduced heavily because of an animation change?

  • That wasn't the main problem, the main problem was that the new movement made survivors feel awful and clunky to control, and it made weaving left and right to dodge a deathslinger or huntress way harder.

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 10
