Finally got my p100 Onryo today. Quite a long journey. I'd been just spreading blood points all around the killers pretty evenly and then enjoyed Onryo enough to solely push her.
Didn't think to start recording my stats on the journey till p15 or so.
Wins: 456 Losses: 9
99.98% Win Rate roughly rounded
Longest Win Streak: 152 (still ongoing)
Zero tunneling. I see most streaks involve tunneling and that's fine, but for me that nulls out the streak entirely. The whole point of a streak is to measure how skillful you are. Tunneling removes skill. Personal opinion but that's why I don't do it and I think it artificially boosts peoples win streaks without relying on skill.
6 of those losses were in the first 100 matches when I was still getting the hang of her and figuring out optimal strategies and builds. The matches I lost were mostly 4 mans with some variation of styptics/syringes.
Very few games made it to 1 or 2 gens. Most games were over at 3+ gens still remaining.
On average I'd say I was getting at least 2 condemns per game.
Best maps were Game, Midwich and RPD.
There's a large population of players that seem to still not understand Onryo mechanics. Lots of players would totally ignore on TV's sitting right next to them.
Primary build for like 95% of the journey: Undying, Face the Darkness, Surge, Sloppy Butcher
Final few matches I started swapping Undying and Face the Darkness for Franklins Demise and Weave Attunement when I saw 4 items. A bit easier countered by good teams but more reliable in the sense of not being removable hexes. Super strong on indoor or smaller maps but quite weak on larger maps, whereas Undying/FTD is more consistent regardless of map size and even better on larger ones since they tend to have a harder time finding the totems and no range limit on the aura reading.
I like Sloppy since I'm all over the map so rapidly I tend to interrupt heals a lot and I like that it's passive. Same with Surge. I keep the pressure up super fast paced and any kicking kills pressure so I like that they don't slow me down from being all over the map. Also since all the other gen regression/blocking nerfs it's just made Surge look a bit better, but I was running it before those nerfs any way.
Addons used for almost the entire journey: Blood Fingernails and Remote Control
I think these are her two best addons. A vast majority of your hits are from the post teleport zoomies and fingernails just amps that up further. Helps compensate for the very large audio queue they get warning them of your teleport. Remote Control is essential for cut offs and preventing tape pick ups. Since you now basically have zero counter play in tape returns your only real tape counter play is to prevent them from picking them up in the first place. You gotta keep those TV's off. Remote Control aids in this.
Unfortunately most of Onryo’s addons are really bad so she doesn’t have much variety of choices here and her two best feel nearly required.
Special shout out to Videotape Copy though, also very good. If they ever gutted either of these addons that would probably be my replacement or if your stock pile of Remote Controls is low.
——————————————- Conclusions:I think Onryo is very underrated and most people don't realize how good she can be if played well. Most I see play her incorrectly. That said, I do still think she's weak overall and has some design flaws. I think she gets such good win rates from the vast majority of people simply not understanding her counter play and not respecting condemn until it's too late. She also has the added bonus of killer rarity. She's so rarely played that people typically don't have much experience playing against her to know what to do. Anyways feel free to drop your thoughts if you did the journey yourself on her or any questions you have on Onryo. I feel like I learned a lot about her on the journey and can help anyone out who's also playing Onryo and having any trouble.I streamed about 90% of the matches and let them just auto record on twitch for people to watch back.
congratulations!

Just slight curiosity coming from a killer main that tries their best to not tunnel. Up to the point of completely ignoring someome that was unhooked even if no one else is around. Yet I still get the 4k so the question I'm asking is if survivors still find blame somewhere?
Slugging never happened. Maybe the perks I'm running or the particular or perhaps the killer? Perhaps it naturally just falls to their teammates or is it all of the above? I suppose the point I'm getting at is how do people still find a reason to complain when the killer played fairly?
It's a stupid question. That much I do know.
Well it probably means you’re a very good killer for starters!
Regarding those who will complain still, sadly that is always gonna be the case for every game and every role - survivor and killers.
Sometimes it’s just momentary salt and sometimes it might just be the way some people are. Don’t let it bother you.
You’re obviously super talented so if you’re getting lots of 4Ks, there will probably just be a higher ratio of people getting salty because they lost and making excuses (both sides) is just that.
I play on Nintendo Switch so I don’t have end game chat etc but if your getting lots of messages from people saying stuff that is accusing you, maybe it is best to turn it off for your own wellbeing.

I have found my favourite build;
- No Way Out
- Weave Attunement
- Franklin's Demise
- Unforeseen
People aren't sweat swamping with Gens, chases are interesting with the new pallets and the quiet mode is insane for mind games. Being able to hook a survivor by using a token makes me feel like I'm playing my favourite part of Pyramid Head. Being able to use my giga, mega brain psychic powers to break pallets and walls makes me feel like when I use to play Nemesis.
I am just in such a happy place right now, it feels like I found my part in DBD and I am thrilled.
I ALSO bought Artist at an extremely low price so I now have Pentimento and Grim Embrace (Probably will try them once, who knows)
Also, Tryk's personality is such an awesome addition, it really gives a nice change to the usual silence of Killer gameplay.
From a survivor main, I quiver at your build! lol

I think it’s an interesting concept though the numbers and metrics may need heavily consideration. I’ve seen a few different ideas on the forums recently that all have merit. I certainly think they can be tested on a PTB at least to see what can/cannot be abused and make tweaks accordingly (applying certain conditions and disabling things that may lead to abuse in the way that many others above have mentioned).
I can’t remember who** so cannot credit them sadly, but someone also mentioned about hooked survivors moving around like PH cages - this can actually kill (or at least injure) two birds with one stone* as it can also detract against easy zone-camping.
Other ideas someone mentioned was to stay in deep-wound (like Legion power) until the person is no longer being tunnelled - again, with conditions and so on to consider potential abuse.
In any case, a potential combination of these are definitely worth testing and refining I would hope. Any idea can potentially be abused so it’s easy to pick them apart so the numbers and metrics, conditions and scenarios will of course need proper testing.
I do like that you have sought ideas though as the current status quo (though of course not all killers) and the VERY high propensity of tunnelling can make the game unbearable for many and as such, ideas must be tested.*Not physically of course! @GentlemanFridge 🦜

There are a lot of things people like to say about Skull Merchant, and maddeningly, quite a lot of what's said is factually wrong, and even some of the stuff that isn't can be kind of misleading or misrepresented. This post isn't necessarily geared towards convincing you to like Skull Merchant, or even to stop hating her, but rather to try and make it so the discourse surrounding her is at least honest.
Fat chance, I'm aware, but maybe I'll convince some people.
I'm going to list some of the common complaints I see about Skull Merchant, and tackle each one in turn to explain why I think they aren't helpful and should probably be, like, retired. And not used anymore. Please?
1: "She takes no skill" / "She has no skill expression"
We'll start off with a pretty easy one. There are generally two things happening behind this statement, and both of them are things worth addressing. The first is that most people generally tend to not acknowledge the skill expression her kit does have, and that's typically because they don't even know it exists, so we'll start with that.
The Skull Merchant's skill expression comes in a few areas. General drone placement is important, largely for hiding them as traps but also because the nature of how they work means improper placement within a loop can make them useless, depending on what the loop in question is. There's also what some refer to as "lasertagging", which involves timing and aiming your drone placement mid-chase just right so you can instantly tag someone with a stack of Lock On as soon as the drone initialises and the beams come online.
Manually rotating the beams is a skill-expressive element of her kit as well, albeit to a lesser extent. It's also worth mentioning that she's still fundamentally an M1 killer, and you need to know how to do default M1 chases to play her well.
None of this is to convince you that Skull Merchant is cool and awesome and you should enjoy playing her. It's just to remind you that the initial statement - "she has no skill expression" - is factually false. If you mean that you don't find her skill expression compelling, you should say that instead.
The second thing happening behind this complaint is something that we're going to tackle in the next header, but it's ignoring everything a killer is capable of because they have one kind of cheesy strat they can use. This happens with other killers too, and it's just as silly there as it is here - you might as well just talk about the thing you don't like, without trying to act like there's nothing else possible for the killer to do.
2: "All she does is drop a drone at a loop and force you to leave"
I actually debated putting this one on the list, because to be fair, this strategy is annoying. I'm mostly including it because it was relevant to the previous point, but there is one thing to say about it beyond just pointing out it's not all she does.
Mostly, it is worth mentioning that she's the least offensive of the three killers that can do this. Unlike Artist and Knight, this strategy doesn't work at every loop and doesn't require you to run away immediately even on the loops it does work on. Still, it is annoying, so I'm not necessarily defending it.
I've also seen some people say that running away from the loop means you get hit straight away, unlike Knight and Artist, but, uh. I don't see how that could be true, let alone how to argue against it. If she's close enough to hit you like that, she was hitting you either way, idk what that complaint is on about. Maybe I just don't understand the complaint properly?
3: "She's uninteractive" / "She has no counterplay"
These two get to be part of the same header because they're inherently linked. There is actually quite a bit of interaction when it comes to the Skull Merchant's kit, and that comes as a direct consequence of the counterplay that she does, in fact, have. Note again that this is not an attempt to convince you that you should be having fun playing against her.
So, how do you counter Skull Merchant? This isn't an in-depth guide on that particular topic, so I'll try and keep it a little more light, but there are generally two elements to SM's counterplay: In chase, and out of chase.
In chase, the way the drone's beams work is crucial to her counterplay, and the interaction that comes from it comes from positioning yourself so the beams are blocked as much of the time as possible, and crouching/standing still to avoid the beams when you would otherwise be scanned by them. Sometimes you'll see some people saying you can't do that in chase, but you obviously can, people duck and crouch in chase all the time. It really depends on the length of the loop and how far away the killer is, and you'll forgive me if I don't find the concept of a killer's counterplay being nuanced and having a skill curve to be particularly compelling evidence towards that killer being uninteractive.
Briefly, I want to also touch on the idea that sometimes, when you crouch to dodge a beam, you get hit with an M1 instead. Again, briefly: Yeah, that's countering her. Forcing a killer like Bubba to M1 you at windows is part of his counterplay, because taking an injury to deny a better effect from the killer's power is not all that uncommon in this game. It applies to them, it applies to Skull Merchant.
Then we move on to out of chase counterplay, which revolves around knowing which drones to hack and when to hack them. If it's hovering over a generator, you'd ignore it, but if it's in a loop you think might be high traffic in the foreseeable future, you'd go hack it and reap the rewards when a teammate is chased there and SM has to replace the drone instead of benefiting from it. A direct benefit, as a reward for interacting with her power, or… counterplay.
Again, none of this is to say it can't be improved or that you have to enjoy it. I'm debunking a specific complaint here.
4: "Her kit is bloated" / "She has too many status effects"
I'll come out straight and acknowledge something: This is the most subjective thing on the list, but I do feel strongly enough in my reasoning to still make a case against it.
So, the reason I think this particular complaint is really misleading is the fact that it misses a very crucial detail: Her kit doesn't do much else.
The only things her kit does that aren't related to a status effect are the tracking on her radar and the fact that she can push survivors into interacting with a map prop, everything else comes from a status effect. This is different to other killers (especially ones closer to her in how recently they were released), who may get a few status effects, but get some of the value in their kit from more baked-in mechanics as well. Take Wesker, for example: he and Skull Merchant do a comparable amount of things, after all. He and SM both have:
- A way of speeding themselves up
- A way of slowing the survivors down
- A way of injuring survivors
- A way of applying Deep Wound
- A way of tracking survivors
- A map prop survivors interact with as part of the counterplay
The only thing Merchant has basekit that Wesker doesn't is stealth, outside of that they do a similar number of things. The difference is that Wesker's comes from a mix of baked-in mechanics and status effects, and Merchant's is almost exclusively status effects.
Please don't reply to this to say you think Wesker is better designed, that's not the argument being made and you'd just be proving my point. If you're okay with that NUMBER of effects on Wesker, your problem with Merchant can't be the NUMBER of effects she has.
5: "She gets all her status effects just for pushing a button"
No she doesn't. She gets Undetectable for pushing a button, everything else comes from scanning survivors.
This is relevant because two very important things are true about the spread of Skull Merchant's effects. One, they're staggered, they don't all happen at once. Two, survivors being scanned is something that both sides are putting effort and skill into playing around; the killer wants it to happen, the survivor wants to avoid it.
This point mostly just loops back around to the arguments in the counterplay header, but it's a separate complaint so it gets its own header.
6: "She gets passive, unpredictable Haste"
The Skull Merchant's Haste effect is both not passive, and is very predictable. It only happens when someone is shown on her scanner, and it happens for twelve seconds after a single scan. This is information the survivor players do have access to, though I'll grant the duration is only something you'd know if you look it up.
(As an aside, I would very much like to see that duration conveyed to the survivors via their Lock On stack counter turning red while they're shown on the scanner, to address that.)
The only reason this effect would be passive is if someone's tripping drones outside of chase, which is almost always avoidable and the result of skilled placement when it isn't, which would make it not passive in the latter case. Being rewarded for survivor mistakes you can't rely on or force is not a passive effect.
7: "She's still the best at 3-genning" / "3-genning wasn't fixed"
This one doesn't pop up as much because I think most people kind of understand why it isn't true? But for the sake of completionism I might as well address it here as well.
The argument you see in favour of this complaint typically revolves around arguing that Merchant can set up her drones near generators, and survivors will get scanned when she comes to harass them away from that generator, building up towards a Claw Trap. The problem with this is… well, there are a few problems:
- This isn't actually guaranteed to happen. A survivor running away from a generator MIGHT get scanned on their way out, but they equally might not.
- This means Skull Merchant has to approach and leave the same generator three separate times before she even gets an injury, let alone a down. During this time, the other two generators are free to be repaired with no risk.
- Most importantly, other killers can make that initial approach, the time where Skull Merchant has to be content with a single scan, actually immediately threatening. They get objectively more reward for the same patrol pattern.
These things combined reveal that the situation being described is exactly why Merchant's 3-genning isn't still a problem. She is now at best on par with every other killer- which isn't to say that 3-genning isn't still useful, because it is, for every killer. She's just in a position where her power barely adds anything to the tactic anymore, let alone stall games out for fifty minutes like it used to.
8: "She has the best stealth in the game" / "Her stealth has no tell"
This is another slightly more subjective one, but I think one of the things people need to remember here is that her stealth is balanced with a short timer, not a tell. Every time someone lists a group of killers who have Undetectable but a tell, it's always the killers who have permanent stealth until some action is taken, whereas Skull Merchant's is on a timer.
…Also Dredge is on the list sometimes, but its stealth just sucks in general.
I'm not necessarily saying there's no argument to be had about whether or not that's a fair way of balancing stealth, but the fact that nobody is ever making that argument means the actual complaint made belongs on this list.
—As we close out the list here, I'm going to repeat an important caveat: This list is NOT evidence that there are absolutely no problems worth discussing with the Skull Merchant, nor is it meant to convince you that you should love and adore her. Keep hating her all you want, the point of this list is to at least try and make the discourse surrounding this killer more rooted in the actual, observable power she actually has in the actual game, rather than the misconceptions constantly passed around. In fact, as a show of good faith, I'm going to acknowledge a flaw I think this killer does actually have: I think the amount to which her drones can overlap is honestly a big problem, especially on indoor maps. That's a legitimate problem I'd like to see fixed, but to loop back to the point of this list… how often does that come up? Sometimes, but it's not one of the big and most common complaints, right? We can criticise and provide feedback for a killer while still being honest and fair about them, and that's what I'm trying to achieve here.
Someday, when SM will gain a cult following and a fonder, more forgiving reputation, you shall be seen and sought out as the sage who told everyone!
On a serious note, I DID read all of it and I agreed with most things (insomuch as a survivor main who has never played killer can!). Great write up!

When I had to spend time in the living room for a while, I didn't want to move around my main PC. So I hooked it up to the TV with the dock. It ran well on there as well. It didn't drop below 60 fps very often that I can remember except maybe on certain maps. I also turned fsr on in game, it just seemed to give it a sharper image.
Im not really a handheld or on the go gamer so I can't tell you how it is for that. But it makes a great backup PC or something you can freely move around rooms.

what exactly should a survivor do to not be judged as wrong or toxic? Maybe selfcare behind the rock?🤣
I once had a match against a twitch streamer whose video I watched back after the game and I was quite shocked that they considered my character toxic!
I am quite possibly the most feeble, skill-less and general potato in DBD but they didn’t like that I finished off a gen near them whilst they chased another survivor. Then when that survivor got downed, I used For the People (not with. Buckle Up) because that survivor was on death hook.
I mean of course I can understand it can be frustrating for killers in that situation but the game is full of frustrations - but I don’t think these necessarily equate to being toxic so was take aback honestly. I finished the gen off because it was close to completion, I used for the people cos I had health states to spare where the teammate could have been sacrificed so used the perk at disposal. -

In terms of "taking the game hostage", you can slug one, and if they come to pick up, kill them both. If they don't come to pick up, let them bleed out. The new perk that shows auras will also stop them from being able to drop/pickup items to stop crows.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3736431#Comment_3736431
Ah yes, all the survivor nerfs from 6.1 onwards have most definitely been "biased in favor of survivors". I've played since 2016 and I cannot recall killer being easier. Playing Billy or Twins at the moment causes me to have to apologise in endgame chat because it is so disgustingly easy.
It would be great if people played both sides equally so we got rid of this "us vs them" mentality. A 2k is a draw, which means the game is balanced and MMR is working. Killers getting a 3k+ every game actually means the game isn't balanced. Not every game should be a 4k.
I have noticed that some killers set their ‘win’ standard as 4K and sometimes I’ve heard some even feeling affronted at a gen being done.
I mean that is fair enough, I also set my own standards in the game as a survivor - if I can get value out of my perks, I feel happy, or if I could help a teammate during a pivotal moment etc.I do think having such a high bar for ‘win’ can lead to frustration and might be a little too exhausting but that’s just me - I’ve never had the level of skill to do win streaks let alone give myself higher bars for win lol
-
I played around 20 or so soloQ games yesterday and most of them, we got destroyed very early on. Probably about 5 matches I died on first hook as someone of my teammates were a little scared to approach (some did try but the mere presence of the killer frightened them off lol).
Other games the killers outplayed us and or their powers were difficult for solos to coordinate without comms. It was frustrating but the general standard soloQ experience so it is what it is.
However - and I’m mentioning the above for context - what was the most frustrating was that after suffering all of the above, the two (our of twenty) that I did find some natural synergy with solo teammates, ended with killer DC-ing after 1 or 2 gens/a chase gone wrong/flashlight save. -

The first killer to be released new since i started playing this game was dredge.
Every killer including him has been called OP when they were newly released, unless people started to learn the counterplay to those.
Dredge, Singularity, alien are seen almost never, they had a very short popularity span. Chucky lasted a little longer but i barely see him now either. Only one to break this cycle was wesker for now, but i dont think he was called OP upon release, he seems to be perfect middle ground.I think the game could benefit from not having as many new killers come out (I mean survivors are different as they’re just skins) so the player base can mature their roster. Maybe even have a chaos mode for killers where you have to play certain characters? I’m sure that won’t go down well for everyone though.
Maybe hold off adding new killers unless it is a genuine marquee character or adds real value.
I know that won’t always equate with the money generator the game has with new characters but I probably see more doctors for example than alien - probably because he has a more mature player base?

I love what Prove Thyself represents for Dwight. A goofy character encouraging others to follow his lead so they can survive as a team.
Yes Dwight are team players! I’m still hoping him and Claudette are the major protagonists of the DBD movie (if it ever comes out!)

yes absolutely for me too - I give myself my own challenges and markers of enjoyment - pulling off a boon exponential comeback when teammates are slugged, a well-timed For the People, getting a teammate off hook or some other little but satisfying thing during the game

I like the icon for Dark Devotion, it looks like a heart trapped in a cage, even though that's not what it is technically suppose to be.
Dark Devotion's actual icon is meant to be the Terror Radius (heart) trapped within Plague's incense burner (formed by decorative sections and Entity tendrils to indicate that it is an Obsession perk to create the incense burner). I like the details on it.
Also I like the perk.
It's effect is honestly more of a meme, but the perk synergies is why I love it, you can do a lot with it and it's honestly a lot of fun. I know that it isnt a "meta" perk, but I love it, it will always have a special place in my heart.
I’ve always seen it on my Nintendo switch graphics as an acorn lol But zoomed in it does look cool! I didn’t about Plague’s incense burner though!
Also it’s great you like your perks because they give you value for the way you play and enjoy the game and not just meta ones!

I wonder if it would be better for gens/slow-downs/items to have different conditions and effects depending on killer? So for killers who are ‘M1’, maybe have longer Gen times and/or negate the effect of speeding up perks/disable Gen repair toolboxes (I think the game should let survivor know before hand when match is made to allow for adjustments of perk and item selections accordingly).
Conversely, for very mobile and anti-loop killers, slow-downs could be disabled or reduced.
I can’t see a world where a blanket approach would not hit someone very hard as a negative compromise.
It is probably time to have conditional things that have a more flexible approach to addressing issues in the game I think.
I’ve mentioned in older comments that going forwards, the game could also apply conditions to players at different positions of the spectrum - those very new players can have some more leeway (e.g. going into bloodlust sooner, in-built base kit anti tunnel and slug etc).I’m sure there are gonna be those who can and may abuse such an approach but it surely can’t be a majority and at the very least worth trying out perhaps.

Here it is! Obviously I know it’s not EXACTLY like Geralt/Witcher, but to me it’s close enough and that works. But now I just don’t know what Survivor perks work best for Witcher.
so sorry it may be a bug on my end but I can’t seem to see it if you’ve uploaded a pic?

it wasn’t until chaos shuffle where I had it on me a few times that I realised how useful this perk is as I kept having tokens used! Others have mentioned to me too and I realise now that killers have a lot of aura info effects which I’d never thought about before.
Though it won’t break into my usual build (if only we could have 5 perks!) I’m really glad to have the experience of using it and if any of my usual perks get nerfed beyond value for me (boon expo, for the people, plot twist and bond) then I’d certainly consider distortion.

It's the sensitivity I'd almost guarantee it, I don't see how console players can do it honestly I've played on both platforms and can safely say console feels like slow motion just due to the Cap on sensitivity as to where the m&k can always out spin you , when it comes to the killer role console is at a significant disadvantage I commend any killer that hangs in there on those platforms especially Nintendo switch because you know they go through hell against literally any other platform at like 25 fps
Ah it pleases me to even have Nintendo Switch mentioned - thank you! I always feel we get left out of conversations and when people say console, they usually refer exclusively to PS and Xbox 😅
Though I’m just a Nintendo Switch survivor main, I always wonder how the experience is like for switch players as killers (*゚v゚*)

It was the DBD logo for longest time because it was only neutral sided pic available. Was going to switch it to the pride bird because it's pretty but then they also added Maurice and Maurice is my favorite so had to make it Maurice.
And Maurice is also loved by both survivors and killers too :) although one particular killer perhaps moreso than others..

There’s so much about Plague that I can relate with.
But more than anything… it’s the feeling I get when I play her…
I can’t quite describe in words the feeling that playing Plague gives me… Here’s a song that captures what it feels like:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8waJ7W3QcJc&pp=ygUfb25jZSB1cG9uIGEgZHJlYW0gbGFuYSBkZWwgcmV5IA%3D%3D
Imagine this song playing to a whirling montage of crescendoing moments during the match. Overwhelming the Survivors with sickness, Dark Devotion, mind games, hope extinguished… A romantically sadistic twirling dance all trial…
haha love it lol poetic and ethereal against a backdrop of all the shenanigans!

What vibe do you look for?
I play solo q near 100% of the time. Honestly it’s just circumstance. I would love to play with forum members but I often get ignored or ghosted a lot. It hurts my feelings but whatever. Plus I don’t think people look at the lfg threads very often. And even then I get suspicious vibes from some people that reply to those threads. And wow I’m very surprised you’re asking me for my opinion. That is a really considerate thing to do. After all my time on this forum I rarely ever see anyone who cares about hearing someone else’s/ OP’s pov instead of just demonstrating their own. Wow, you alongside a few other users have given me hope for the forums. It can feel like a practice in abnegation at times.
if you ever need people to play with, I have a discord server full of friends I made through soloq (because I play on Nintendo switch and get lonely lol) that play for fun (not toxic) and though we don’t use voice comms, we like to chat and have fun in between matches/while slugged/while on a hook lol
Lmk if you ever want to join!

Just for fun I made a map tier list, and am curious what other people think of the current map situation in DBD. Personally, I think BHVR has improved a lot when it comes to map balance and design, with far more maps being very well balanced and fair. Of course there still have been some misssteps, like the new reworked Haddonfield, that is definitely too killer sided. But in general, BHVR has been doing a fine job with map balance, even if not all of the balanced maps are balanced in an ideal way in my opinion.
So the following is my tier list:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7NP5D2BDVA59/map-tier-list.png
There are a few things to note here.
Within one tier, the further right a map is, the more survivor sided it is, the further left, the more killer sided it is. However there generally aren't big differences within a tier.
Also, this is judging the average version of each map. I am aware that RNG can sometimes tilt a map towards one side a bit, but this is more about maps with their average rng.
And this map balance tier list is also generally considering a good killer player against a good survivor team, with the killer that is being played being A tier, or possibly B tier. So no low tier killers, or broken killers like Nurse.
A few extra notes on certain maps: I have seen some people say that the Coldwin maps lean towards killer now, but except for Rancid Abattoir, I couldn't disagree more. I think they are generally well balanced. Torment Creek is balanced for the wrong reasons, being very big, but having quite large deadzones. On the other hand, Fractured Cowshed is now one of the very best maps in the game in my opinion.
Azarov's Resting Place is also a killer sided map in my eyes, because as a killer you can just split the map pretty much in half and easily defend that half of the map. And I consider Grim Pantry slightly killer sided because 6 of the 7 gens spawn on one side of the map pretty much, with only 1 gen spawning on the pantry.
But as I said, I am curious what other people think of the current maps in DBD.
haha turns out some of my favourite maps are more killer-leaning!

Ok :-)
I play both sides on PS4 and PC at the moment but in a more casual way. Doing tomes and challenges are more important than trying to escape. But i also have over 3.5k hours which is pretty crazy and more than i ever had in any game.
This game can consume so much time - and also this is a game where imo you get better the longer you play.
Unfortunately i think you learn a lot of survivor play by playing killer. Because you see what confuses you the most or what surv plays get you the most. Also you see all the mistakes surv makes.
So i try to give some humble advice:
try not to get found first - a lot killers use Lethal pursuer which shows all auras at the beginning of the match - just walk a few seconds in one direction and then go in the other direction and if you hear a heartbeat immediately - hide somewhere. Only a little bit away from you starting position, because there he saw you.
If you run you leave scratchmarks where a killer can follow even if he don´t see you. So here and there try to walk a short distance to distract a killer. You can see the scratchmarks from pretty far away - especially if you walk on the edge of the maps - the scratchmarks cover the wall and are even more obvious.
Some survs unnecessarily do fast vaults which causes explosions. If you don´t need to, don´t do it.
Special thing about doctor - he sees the ilusions, so he knows where you are.
I almost always run Bond from Dwight to see my teammates, and often kindred (see aura of killer near hooked surv) too. Good information.
Hope you have a good looper on your team (that alone wins games)
Watch youtube videos :-) There are so much good tutorials on how to do stuff. Even if you can´t pull it off it is nice to see what you can do.
SImple chase trick is to just run straight forward if you hear the killer - it takes some time to catch up - some leave you then. (Not Nurse, Blight or Legion..)
If you teammate is hooked across the map and all stay on their generators because it is almost finished and no one is saving the game is very often lost.
Last second saves often don´t work as intended - timer runs out - one person runs to the hook and gets caught and chased and the other ones are to far away. I have seen this so often.
thank you so much!!
I have a question about lethal - I tend to almost always be the one that gets targeted with lethal lol does the game preselect a single person at the start or does the killer get to choose who it applies to? (Or does it show all survivors auras and killer can choose who they go for?)
I’ll definitely do the double back method you described!Yes I tend to play with some friends who are much more balanced and some who are comfortable to take chase (not in a toxic way) so I find myself fulfilling a particular role - being a stealthy healer and use for the people, boon exponential etc.
I do enjoy watching both survivor and killer YouTube videos though! I find killer videos to sometimes be more educative as it provides an insight into the mindset killers have.
I’m glad to also get your feedback and other vets and members on the forum as players on YouTube sometimes (understandably) do things that I can’t pull off or regardless of the perk or theme of the video boils down mainly to being good at looping lolThank you so much again!! 🍰✨

I'm not a killer main, but when I do play it does remind me of their perspective. Once a survivor is injured I feel like it is borderline impossible to lose them, but before that unconventional plays can work really well. It can be hard to track healthy survivors when they break line of sight, especially of they take unexpected paths and break up their scratch marks. I try to apply this to when I play survivor and look for good opportunities to leave the loop.
Thanks! I’ve noticed on some rare occasions I lose killers is they probably thought I'm good and trying to chain a loop, whereas I was cowering in a bush mid-chase instead lol and they kind of mind-gamed themselves unnecessarily thinking I’d actually be competent 😅
Appreciate your advice and will definitely try to weave into my approach going forwards!

I am confused today - do you want killer tips or surv tips or both :-) ?
Sorry I may have been confusing with my wording lol ( I have that habit)
I’d like survival tips from killer mains! As I believe some things are learnt behaviours from those who play both sides or coming in as a killer main - what things do you do that make your survivor play (or approach) better - things that a one-dimensional player like myself won’t know as I don’t play killer.I probably won’t ever play killer as I just cannot enjoy first person view which I find disorienting and uncomfortable (´•ω•`)
