I feel horrible just killing the rest of the team after one person gives up first hook, but I also don't want to spend an extra 10 minutes farming with the rest of the survivors. I want to play the game, and survivors giving up makes me feel really bad for the rest of the team. If I play 10 games a night of killer (I play mainly PHead and Bubba) 4 of those games will have one person giving up early on.

I just don't know how to handle it, because I play survivor and if someone gives up I see it as a major middle finger to the rest of us, because it basically guarantees the loss.

How do you killer mains handle this? And how do you survivor mains expect the killer to handle this?

As a survivor main who is in this kind of situation constantly: please do as you feel fit and prioritise your own experience. When this happens realistically survivors absolutely expect a stomping unless they play very well AND the killer plays badly.

if you wish to farm then that’s totally your prerogative. If you want to kill everyone that’s also fine - your next kill, if not many gens are done will likely lead to the last two either giving up or playing hide and seek.

Some survivors may get salty but honestly don’t think too much of it. It’s understandable because some people brought offerings and items and that one survivor giving up means they lose a lot of that and they’ll be salty and upset by default. Not saying it’s an excuse but try to empathise if you can and don’t take it to heart.

Anyway, it’s unfortunate that a DCing player leads to this kind of unsavoury scenario. But do what you need to do - survivors won’t be surprised either way.

  • I think there are many more better placed people with more experience who can provide a better response but my advice would be anything software related, you should probably avoid as if you get banned the whole process of trying to explain what and why will probably not be worth the trouble and most likely, will not be accepted.

I'm not sure about hardware related solutions such as auto fire button on some controllers for example but again my advice would be to tread with caution.

If that’s true, then damn, poor Ace. Released before Feng, David, and Mikaela and yet isn’t part of the original survivor group.

Wow I didn’t know that! Also for some reason I always forget Ace isn’t a licence character lol

What I'm really wondering is what are our Switch cousins supposed to do? Their ability to record their trials was removed years ago for game performance reasons.

we are the poor cousins at the wedding for sure lol

I've just versed a survivor who had some distinct advantage over his teammates as I had a lot of trouble finding him. Basically all the teammates had been hooked twice when I finally found him.

Iron Will + Lightweight + Premonition were the key perks. The fourth was Weaving Spiders.

No visible trackmarks, almost silent when hurt (75% is really pretty good), and could evade me for quite a while.

Replacing Weaving Spiders by something else may make it even stronger.

    What do you think?

Today was a nightmare. I thought at first that people were just overly dramatic about survivors disconnecting or giving up but I was playing only survivor today (regrettable) and things started to go bad. Real bad. I got the most unfun matches of my life. I had survivors slinging me on hook, never healing me, never doing any generators, dcing, afking, working with killer. They robbed all fun from me. It really made me sad.

It has been a little rough for sure, but we need more people who can bring the qualities and mentality needed for soloq - hopefully such players will eventually bump into each other more frequently

I've finally started to play The Unknown. I've spent some bloodpoint and used a build I'm using on another killer.

I expected to get my backside kicked while I'm learning its powers.

My first match went better than expected as I had no idea what his powers were: a 4K with decently prestiged players.

Naturally, after a win, the next lobby had to be stronger …

    And yet …

I'm expecting a stronger lobby and I get four flashlights … sounds like trouble.

    Or not …

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/N0SWZFO7YVGM/image.png

Naturally the next team has stronger players and after one look at the p100, I feel like crying …

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/I41NA98TXCAM/image.png

… but it went pretty fine.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/U2L6K6RFLG4D/image.png

How is that possible? I barely understand the killer …

Is it a "S" killer or have I been incredibly lucky?

I’ve definitely faced some u known players who were just gliding through the match, such was there phenomenal pressure and use of TP and power - even as a survivor only player I had to applaud their incredible fluency and grasp of the killer’s potential

Yeah to be fair I come from Ghostface as my 'main', so a setup Killer with delayed payoff is what I'm used to. Singularity compared to Ghosty however makes Marked stalks a joke with how much you can get with how little comparative effort is involved.

With Ghosty it is super macro-intensive, as I have to sneak along edges, track everyone's location, intercept a rescuer to force others off of gens or soak the 2nd hook state, force good pallet drops, and all that to get an Exposed down or stealth hit here and there. With Singularity, I can get a far more micro intensive gameplay, but far far far more macro reward. My first chase can often result in 3-5 good pallets being deleted for the rest of the match, at near no investment compared to Ghosty, but it still takes the continuous mental energy. (Place biopod, shoot Surv 1, TP on Surv 1, force a pallet drop, kick at 1.75 speed, Surv 2 EMPs Surv 1, Tag Surv 2, keep chasing Surv 1, Tag Surv 3 on a gen to force an EMP, get a hit or pallet from Surv 1 not realizing the shrunken TR was from tagging Surv 3 but sticking on Surv 1, finally get the down on Surv 1 and check a few pods to get all Surv locations and know where to go next, then hook Surv 1 where it helps you and hurts them the most.)

A good Singularity is similar to (and even more effective than) a good Dredge, and you can make all Survivors 'feel' like they are pressured at all times. The key to Singularity is reaching a rhythm or flow state, where all your actions neatly connect into the next action. When you can establish a rhythm, it doesn't feel stressful (for you, and ultra stressful for the Survs), but without enough experience, it is painful.

Damn, I don’t even play killer but even I found this fascinatingly informative! 🤖

  • I’d like for the people to have a status notification so the person who is grounded can know I have it and can stop squirming away when I try to use it lol

I’d like the new illusions perk to have less cooldown - I don’t think it’s a particularly good perk against killers and is mainly a meme like pebble - just hope it could be used more often!

I’d like boons to have a different colour from each other or let people know in status icon across map (so people can crawl to it) that it is lit (boon exponential when slugged for example)

Do you have hope in seeing Solo Q ever getting improvements? I feel like I have lost all hope in any meaningful changes in regards to making SoloQ better. In my opinion, I don't think it can get improved because it all comes down to the player. I really don't know what Behaviour can do about this. Isn't this entirely out of their hands?

To be honest, I try to treat soloQ as an exercise in practicing my skills on certain elements such as looping etc (spoiler: it’s going badly lol)

I don’t have any hope or expectation that I’ll load into a match that I’ll escape often. This helps me to deal with with the matches we get stomped quickly and can move on next (though sadly tunnelling - whether perceive or actual, and slugging can make this frustrating for sure).

I do however, every 20 solo matches or so, get paired with people ‘on my wavelength’ and we have fun whether we escape or die. Quite often we’ll befriending each other and try to play together when the opportunity arises.

SoloQ has become something of a recruitment ground for people I can play with going forward and have made some amazing friends this way that makes the overall motivation to play the game increase.

I’m going to preface this thread by saying that I absolutely do not support griefing in any way shape or form. Nor do I encourage any of the upcoming examples of “cruelty”.

Cruelty. We’ve all felt it. Some of us have acted on it. What do I mean by “cruelty?” You know, the things that rub the salt in. 4-man bleedout. Stun squads, aggressively tunneling one player while ignoring the game as a whole. I’m sure we can come up with more examples.

Question: Does in-game cruelty raise the stakes of a trial? Nobody wants to be bled out for 4 min, no one wants to be eliminated super early, no Killer wants to be endlessly stun locked.

Does the risk of experiencing in game cruelty motivate players to play better? What are your thoughts? Does playing better manifest this behavior?

I wonder very much about this because DbD is a game that feels like it has an “edge” that no other game has. I can’t help but feel that this “edge” has some kind of relationship to the passionate feelings that emerge from the community. Others have used the word “Visceral” to describe this “edge” and I am inclined to agree. The knee-jerk reaction this game can make people feel seems to fuel(?) try hard gameplay. However It can also be argued that it instead deters players from playing hyper efficient.

I don’t condone toxicity. My lofty (though unrealistic) vision is for every player to be grateful for every other player in the community. I’ve never played a game that felt as intensely personal as Dbd. I can’t stop returning to this idea of an “edge”.

I know this is a sensitive topic and I don’t support making anyone feel bad irl or ruining their games just to be cruel. I just can’t seem to shake the feeling that the stakes of a trial seem linked to:

A.) As a Survivor the longevity of your life in a trial

B.) The amount of “cruel” interactions one may experience in-game.

Does anyone else kind of understand the idea I’m trying to describe?

I understand a lot of the comments on this thread.

For me personally, I have a lot of mixed thoughts. For the first year of the game, I was purely a soloQ player though I gradually made a lot of in-game friends, we had never had the opportunity to chat to each other (Nintendo Switch has zero communication options) and I didn’t even think of methods to reach out that I had now (downloading the PS and Xbox apps to find players I play with - this came later).

My first year in the game being oblivious and ignorant, it was an incredibly isolating, lonely and frustrating period when I felt I was constantly tunnelled and subjected to be and had nobody to share the feelings with. But having my in-game friends, who I’d never spoken to, their acts of kindness during matches - just someone caring enough to unhook me and heal me, do a little pirouette for me at load in etc used to fill me absolute joy and make me want to keep playing.

My biggest problem is that I have a strong sense of justice but lack the skill and ability to deliver the justice which can be one of the most frustrating things ever.

Through a series of incredible coincidences, I managed to catch a few wow my long-term in game friends on someone’s twitch stream and from there were created a discord server which now contains almost all our regular in-game friends. The purpose of it is not to form hit squads or whatever, but purely to be able to chat with each other and anecdotally entertain each other and provide stress relief.

Honestly, I would have given up long ago on DBD were it not for the heroes and wonderful people I play with - who are survivors and killers so has given me a lot of appreciation for both sides though I only play one (I’ve mentioned before but I cannot play First person view games).

My solemn wish is to one day gain the skill to help protect those who I play with and to be a less liability. That is and always will be my motivation.

(I apologize in advance if there are any mistakes in the translation, as it was translated by a translator)

I have 1 prestige on Sable Ward, and 1 prestige on Kate Denson. But with all this, Denson's skills are purple (although they should be yellow, because purple rarity opens from the 3rd character prestige). But Kate's skills are already yellow. And I thought that since Kate's purple rarity skills are given at the first prestige level, then Denson's will be the same, too bad it's not so. Why is that?

I think perhaps the perks you are using might be from other characters which are already purple (so it can be selected at purple for all characters regardless of prestige )

If not, then it may be a bug (a good one for you! lol)

which language are you translating from by the way?

  • Never played a killer (I don’t do well in first person view) but I’d imagine 3+ kills OR if I was ever a myers or pig, I’d probably feel happy to scare survivors or maybe a head pop lol

As a survivor, I’m pretty much a potato so if I can escape great but no escape has ever felt as good as when I’ve managed to for the people someone or rescue a slugging situation with boon exponential.

The worst losses are when I’ve been a liability for teammates or not added any value either through actions or passive perks. I’ve never minded dying but get disappointed with myself and my own lack of ability when I didn’t last long enough in a game to make any positive contributions.

  • I’m honestly surprised that it isn’t considered conspicuous 🥸

The original is terrific with a young Jennifer Aniston. They go slightly downhill from there until it turns into a joke cult classic. The lore gets weirder from movie to movie as they attempt to flesh it out. Warwick Davis is a GOD.

haha not surprised about sequels going downhill as per all cult classic horrors, but didn’t know Jennifer Aniston and Warwick David (legend!) were in it!

Look forward to checking it out!

  • consider me considering! I am allergic to rot! 😅

On a serious note, have not seen the movie but you have piqued my interest :)

  • I had a flashbang in my hand but also came in with a medkit. I tried healing someone discreetly who was on death hook, but ended up throwing the flashbang.. to make it worse, I then tried to administer For the People but ended up body blocking inadvertently AND threw the pallet nearby by accident (console buttons..)

I’m sure the other person thought I was trolling but I was just doing things potatoes do 😢

  • I have recently got a steam deck and I play now and again (no cross progression from my Nintendo switch yet) and I can honestly say without any exaggeration that my Dwight gets tunnelled and targeted (as in, killer is in chase, sees me and switches to me immediately) in at least 6 out of the 10 matches. The other 4 where I’m not tunnelled, has a high likelihood that I see another person being tunnelled.

Likewise, I really don't want to play Survivor anymore, or really DBD in general, but I will if you'll actually accept what I find. Somehow, I imagine that if the results don't fit your narrative, they'll be conveniently ignored.

The add-ons sometimes change but tbh, Julie's Mix-tape and Mischief list almost never leave my build (at the moment I'm enjoying Julie's Mix-tape with the Iri Button for some extra anti-loop).

Outside of events I usually bring an ebony mori because moris are fun (it's also useful as a makeshift hook counter for when I want to slug early game death hook Survivors).

    Honestly it's just Backwater Swamp.

It's long overdue for a rework, tracking scratchmarks/red-stain is a pain due to my red-green colorblindness. It is generally a really ugly map with little to no visual appeal to it. Totems spawn at the very edge of the map and finding the hatch takes forever and makes matches an absolute slog. The Generator spread is really compact so there is hardly a reason to leave one side of the map, especially with the decent main building being easy to run.

The ONLY redeeming quality to are the holes in the main building(s) since it is funny to bait the Killer into the hole… outside of that, there really isnt much of a reason for me to like it.

  • Also, hilariously got targeted and tunnelled out in every single match with my baby dweet with one yellow perk - upside: had plenty of time while on hook to observe the graphical detail lol

  • I’ve tried DBD though trying not to play too much until cross-progression lol (works great! Shocked at the graphical improvement compared to my Nintendo switch - so those orange blobby things in notifications are actually generators!! 😱)

I played a match of survivor on swamp and a game of pig on the game. It ran great. I had it on lowest settings but in game it never really dropped below 60 fps. The only time it drops seems to be when spending blood points. That being said I'm still not use to the steam deck controls but I'm the same with any handheld.

@Moonras2 I have finally got the steam deck! Looking forward to cross-progression this summer to transfer over!

  • I think a wider irritation with Franklins is that an item can be depleted and gone when for a lot of people (especially during events) it feels very bad.

Personally, I think if Franklins stays as it is it is fine but make the effect for that one game only (so items can stay with survivors when they die/escape IF it was depleted or taken off my franklins).

That would then not have any bearing on killer or survivor during the match and can feel less bad for survivors at the end.

in regards to WA, I think people need to get used to it - I see it like pinheads box, a secondary (important) objective. Sadly, as Pinhead has shown after several years, soloQ can end up getting utterly decimated with such side objectives as you can’t mitigate for how others will play easily.

    • Plot Twist - it has helped me many times. Sometimes can use it mid-chase if I can distract the killer for a few moments and find somewhere with a bit of camouflage - though when it goes hilariously wrong it is a free hook for killer 😅
    • Flashbang - would love to say I’m good at flashbang saves but I probably only get 1 in 50,000. Mostly it can help me in chase (see plot twist above) IMG_1641.jpeg

These are the results of a self-imposed challenge I did to use the same build on all killers and never use their power and see how many games I could win. I wanted to show that any killer can be played well using an m1 playstyle and why strong killers who tunnel at 5 gens are not really that skilled at the game and could improve by learning proper looping and map management techniques.

I will note these results are my first game with each killer and on random maps.
