It definitely is not a pleasant sight to see the fat man in a clown costume heading your way 😭

lol having said that, I do agree with your statement that I think his power is fair and balanced! I’ve never gotten downed by him and thought it was cheesed - usually my own lack of looping ability 😅

I am biased as a clown main, but I think he's fair. You can still pull down pallets when he gasses you. You're just slowed down. Remember too that he is one of the strongest 1v1 killers in the game, but he has literally nothing else. No map pressure, no remarkable mobility, nothing. A big counter to him is to pre drop pallets and either run to the next tile or try to mind game him. With all that being said, I can definitely see him being one of the most annoying/hardest characters to go against.

when I see him striding towards me, forget the gas, I become a headless chicken without it lol

O yeah I've been DBDing on deck since Gabriel's chapter .

Great! I might come to you if I ever have any issues (still getting used to the steam deck so am afraid to tinker with settings too much! 😅

  • @jde said:

So I need to hit sync on both steam and my console of choice?

I would imagine so ☺️ That’s what I did anyway. I’m awaiting any further instructions just in case they announce anything but for the time being, linking and syncing is the most I can do. Hopefully we’ll find out more very soon 🤞

Yeah I'll give that a shot. I normally sign in with the same Gmail I use for any games. So I don't see why I would link to a off account.

I also had issues - especially on safari browser on my phone, try with chrome in case that works (it did for me)

  • @supersonic853 said:

Hm. My steam isn't linking to bhvr even though I've only ever had 1 account. Unless I'm forgetting something. "A game account with identical information already exists"

That sounds problematic.. maybe try forgot password reset option and enter any emails you usually use for sign up stuff just in case?

Good luck and hope it gets sorted soon! 🙏

  • I’d use Boon exponential because solos often get slugged so it’s useful for you and team

  • This is essentially where the game doesn’t teach newer players about these concepts. Unless you’re reading forums, checking and seeing content creators and/or gleaning through experience, macro play and strategy isn’t going to come naturally to survivors newer to the game.

Kind of like with plagues power and pinhead box. The lack of macro coordination and understanding amongst soloq players make it a rather confounding predicament.

  • @joel84 said:

    Sorry,

but some players should slowly but surely accept that DBD is not all about chases. I recently had a game in which I was very agile and tactically clever.

I was able to repair at least 3 generators myself and take 3 players off the hook at the same time, including full healing.

It's hard to believe, but that's my style of play. Do Gens, help your buddies and SURVIVE

SURVIVE SURVIVE ...... Does anybody know what that is? SURVIVE ??.....

I think some people don't know.

It's not my job to go into a 1v1 with a killer. Others can do that, but not me, and that kind of playstyle should be accepted. Whether you like it or not.

The endgame chat was a bit surprising for me

    me: GG

My Teammates complained about me. I would play with distortion( No, I don't want a debate about this perk ) and hide. I had no right to speak …. crazy or ?

than comes the Killer: My God, you have thousands of hours and not even the balls to go hunting with me ? Running Distortion and hiding all game bla bla.

After that, he got upset again about the number of hours I had spent in the game and then left.

Excuse me? But I survived because I played smart. Few people like that style of play, and that's probably why those people got upset. But that's not my problem

There were no such discussions in 2016. You can take my word for it. What do I want to say with my contribution? Times have changed. Nevertheless, don't let anyone tell you how to play.

Have you also had such experiences? And do you think there is a difference to the past?

    Please let me know

I can see both sides of the argument and honestly totally understand. I just have never been able to possess the calm and reflexes - DBD is my first PvP so I have never really had a grounding in reflex and quick response gaming. (I’m the type that will lose 5 billion lives and continues when completing a Mario game for example lol). So it isn’t always black and white.

I tend to avoid direct chases (particularly in early game) because it will mean I will become a liability to my team after I get targeted quickly and require saving - taking them off gens and potentially getting hit and injured in the process of saving me. In mid and end game I’ll do what I must in engaging with killer to take grief off.

HOWEVER, I do try to compensate for this in several ways - in addition to trying to do gens consistently, I’ll always go for saves and unhooks, trades and downs and taking hits and chases (purely as a means to take grief off a teammate) when the situation requires it whenever I can. I am not able to use flashlights for above stated reasons but my equivalent of a save is ‘For the People’. I don’t care about my survival only with the above - it is essentially about NOT being a liability (or exposing my weakness for killer to target and therefore becoming a hindrance to the team). I’ll be the first one to take hits or go for unhook - my discord friends often post the Mrs Doubtfire ‘I’m on my way dear!’ Meme about me as I’ll always prioritise helping a teammate off hooks above gens).

In addition, my build is almost completely team centric to further add value for the team in exchange for lack of intentional killer engagement - I use For the People, Boon Exponential, Plot Twist (ok this one is selfish, but means saving someone else’s time in having to heal me) and either Flashbang or a meme perk like mirrored illusion (my one guilty pleasure).

I really and truly do wish I possessed the ability to be better at chases and other stuff as I could provide better rounded plays but sadly, I just don’t think I possess that latent skil.

This is however a horror themed game and, like OP has said, different and varied playstyles should be viable - the game invites as much through its perks and items. Someone can assume a role (primarily but not totally of course) as looper, Gen jockey, flash saver, totem and hunt, stealth etc etc but of course with the proviso that we ‘do what we can’ at all times and that includes chases, as short as they may become in my case lol

I’ll caveat this by saying in solos, when it is clear that I might actually be the more experienced survivor, I do try to take chases and attention of killer to protect my little babies. Sadly, I am the adult that gets swatted lol

I don’t think anybody should be shamed for playing the way they do unless it’s toxic, overly selfish (I have had countless times people have left me to die on first I hook when ample opportunities to come get me, or not hook-trading when someone and no hook states and I’m on death hook etc) or otherwise totally non-contributory towards team escape, then these will likely earn the ire of teammates.

Apologies for the delay on this and level 4 of tome 19. I have been taking a bit of a break from DBD due to all of the bugs, but given that they are likely to be resolved soon and i can't stay away i'm back now.

Here is my guide to save as many bloodpoints as possible, while also completing the archives, This level seems to have a total of 235k that you can save, while earning 140k. To get to the end path, you do not need to own any DLC. To save all of the challenges you need to own Yui Kimura.

Since these are no longer stickied, I'll update this thread with links and will post new ones for each level. You can also find the links at: https://reinami.com

    Level 1: forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/421169/saving-bloodpoints-tome-20-level-1/p1

    Level 2: TBD

    Level 3: TBD

    Level 4: TBD

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Y666U3QUQWYG/image.png

    Red Line = Collect

    Yellow Circle = Save

As always, if someone finds something better feel free to post i here and i'll add it to the OP.

    FAQ

    • I'm new at the game, should I still do this?
      • Maybe. If you tend to have specific things you want to spend your bloodpoints on, you are better off just spending them on what you want. You would generally do this if you want to max out the new survivor/killer when they are released. Generally they are released between level 3 and 4 being released.
    • Why do this?
      • Since the game only allows you to hold 2 million bloodpoints at any given time, this is a way to store extra bloodpoints for a later date. This is useful if you want to save bloodpoints for a later event or chapter.
      • Doing this with the first 3 levels + level 4 of the previous tome, capping your bloodpoints to 2 million, and saving daily challenges, should allow you to max out the killer or survivor to p3 and probably get the other to p1 or p2 before even playing a single game when the new chapter releases.
    • What do I do?
      • Following the map above, just follow the red line, then complete and turn in the challenge. For the challenges that have yellow circles, do the challenge but DO NOT turn in/complete it. This lets you have the challenge completed and ready to be collected when the new content, or whatever you are saving for releases.
    • Do I miss out on rift fragments doing this?
      • Only if you don't turn the challenges in during the rift. Typically since the new content releases between levels 3 and 4. You can at least get the fragments for the first 3 levels. And if you need the fragments for level 4, you can do those and typically you'll only miss out on saving 500k bloodpoints in most cases as level 4 typically lets you save around that much.
    • Is this definitely the most points I can save?
      • I think it is, and if you are reading this, I have already set upon this path myself. Sometimes I make mistakes though, so if you find a better one, please post it in this thread and I'll add it to OP. In the event that someone finds a better one, I will place theirs above mine and make a note/credit of it. I will still keep mine on the thread though as often once you have started down the path you can't really change or you'll end up losing out on even more points.

welcome back and thanks for your hard work as usual!

I dont want to sound rude and frankly I dont even have this platform so you could say I dont have to care but...

Damn 4500 shards for owning all DLCs or many DLCs and to have to rebuy them again if you want crossprogression? Thats it?! So if someone spend like 100$ on dlcs And now has to buy it all over again..the compensation is just single 4500 shards? This is rock bottom of Marine Trench guys, seriously. Big bruh moment and I am disapointed.

I feel bad for Nintento switch players atm. Not cool. It should be at least 4500/per DLC you own.

I’m really glad to hear people who don’t have Nintendo switch say this - we are a small circle so often feel we don’t always have the same priority given to us

I must admit, when anti-facecamp was added to the game, I was super on the fence and against it, fearing that it would disrupt my gameplay too much and give SWFs another super unfun and unfair tool to assert dominance, but after the nerf that the bar didn't start immediately and kicks and environmental destruction would halt it, antifacecamp has become 99,95% a meaningless mechanic.

I still think that it's tough to balance and fine tune, but it appears that BHVR has all but stopped their attempts at doing so. When it got introduced I was scared to even threat into the space around a survivor and took a couple seconds to give hooks a wide berth, but that was totally unneeded. In all my time since the introduction, I personally got to use it exactly once, and as a killer I maybe saw survivors unhooking themselves 2 or 3 times, but only when I was already winning hard and I gave them a big staredown before strolling off. I MIGHT have set up a self unhooking maybe once or twice, but taking extra long searches around the bushes in the area, because I legitly saw a survivor, and when they moved away, this couldhave filled up the bar, but overall its a very weak and nonexistingmechanic.

Here is a thing, BHVR: please fine tune the effect, but whatever you do, let BOTH sides see the bar fill up. Transparency is key with this mechanic, and a killer who sees that he is close to filling up the bar will probably actually leave the area. Being open with the effect for all sides would also help to bring everyone on par what's happening and how the mechanic works, instead of "I believe of you smack the wall next to s hook and turn around 4 times, it slows down the bar enough, to chase a survivor around the hook", just show us the cause and effect and let everyone see it with their own eyes how it works or doesn't, and you will have much more valuable feedback this way.

EDIT: on a sidenote, the number of ACTUAL facecamping and killers staring into my face till I died have actually fully declined to zero. But I still think that the mechanic could be a little bit more effective and pronounced.

I think I’ve only unhooked twice and once was where the killer definitely wanted me to lol

As of right now, we have hundrets of perks available on each side. With every chapter or "mini-chapter" in a midchapter, we get 3 more perks per character.

We have reached the moment when pages of perks are too many to get shown (even more complicated on Charms):

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WF1LDAIAHR54/1.png

What do you think about an ability which allows the players to manually disable perks they would never use anyway to clean things up. I mean, yes, I have a search bar, which is good, but for example on this screen, I will never use Ace in a hole, Aftercare and Better than new.

Which brings me to my 2nd topic: a perk shop

The shrine of secrets presents 4 perks per week to claim for players who dont have all DLCs unlocked. The Inventory of perks however is increasing and increasing and increasing, so your chance to get the one perk you want (for example: I want Dead Mans Switch, but I dont want to buy Deathslinger) is getting reduces every time new perks are added.

So how about reworking the Shrine of Secrets into a Perk-Shop, which grants access to more perks than 4 per week, which you can buy with Auric Cells (Licensed) and Auric Cells / Iri Shards (Original)?

A really good idea! One of many things that can be easily implemented but represent significant improvements (another being either discarding or trading items with the entirety for bp or anything - I can literally open up a botanical garden with all the bog laurels and other items I have lol)

As the title suggests, share which Killer makes your blood boil and leaves you dreading the match. Don’t just mention their name — describe what specific mechanic or aspect about them makes you want to avoid playing against them.

I’ve always disliked facing spirits - their incessant breathing makes my blood curdle and sadly the vast majority of spirit players I personally face tend to engage in constant hitting on hooks. Her breathing just makes the game feel sweaty off bat too.

tricksters unfortunately (for me anyway) tend to be 80% of the time very toxic - slugging and then hitting your slug with knives/hitting on hook.

the above two may be a bit unfair to single them out as it’s probably not the spirit/trickster players in general but the fact that their abilities allow for enhanced toxicity baked in (knives can be thrown at a slug and hooked person so a toxic player can utilise it).

Legion is personally one of my disliked killers to face but that is more for my build (I like to use for the people) so being injured or broken a lot kind of negates my build a lot

Killers have a few Status Effects they can leave on you like Mangled and Hemorrhage, and these two I can see the impact, But there's one status effect I can't really see.

Does Blindness slow you down at all?

As a killer player I'm under the impression that auras aren't always a big deal for survivors. And it isn't a big deal for survivors to lose their aura reading for a minute or so. It's not always clear if when I bring these add-ons for Blind that they see use. So i'd like to know.

How often do you get blinded by killers? And does being blinded slow you down?

blinder stops you from seeing auras - so for example if a teammate is downed, you can’t see where they fell or the killer picking them up etc until they’re hooked

as a survivor main, I’d say auras are definitely a big deal.

  • Quick question for killers:

I know BHVR have said that No Mither is intentionally a meme ‘hard mode’ perk for survivors, barring going perk less or just having a downright awful perk (of which exists on both sides) is there an equivalent perk for killers? Something which does have distinct benefits like no mither (less noise and can get up an unlimited amount - minus eventual bleedout lol)?

    they're probably trying assign roles.

    trapper #1 is support killer.

    Trapper #2 is chase-killer

    Wraith #1 is support

    wraith #2 is chaser.

    Huntress

#1 supports by giving ally aura reading on hatchet hit

    #2 is selfish bonus

    Billy

Billy #1 gives your ally exposed, so like wraith can instant down people.

    Billy #2 is selfish bonus

    Nurse

    Nurse

#1 is some ganking support killer

    #2 is selfish killer.

Billy is obvious best killer in 2vs8 because exposed is invaluable bonus to have. the fact that he grants allies exposed is crazy. it doesn't work with nurse because of basic vs special but it works for other 3 killers. As long you time your exposed sprint with your allies basic attack like wraith cloak, wraith will just be instant downing on every hit. So for all m1 killers, trapper and wraith need billy in that mode.

Huntress #1 +Nurse #1/2 is strong synergy. you hit someone with hatchet. the nurse sees aura and machine guns the player.

good grief nurse and huntress combo would be terrifying!

  • @HerInfernalMajesty said:

Again, why is it a bad idea to have hatch spawn but locked when there’s only 2 Survivors left? I feel like it would give keys more legitimacy. It would also foster a collaborative relationship between the last two players as opposed to the often times adversarial too few times heroic dynamic that exists today.

Great idea! How about a system where depending on how much gen progress/chase time/altruistic actions a meter can fill that determines whether the hatch even spawns and the one who has the most of the meter filled can use a key (perhaps make the key auto-populate only on these conditions?)

I really do hope this (and 2 Vs 8 mode) isn't a signal that BHVR are going to stop supporting the Switch soon. It will be quite a while before I upgrade to the new Nintendo console and doubt I'm alone in that respect. It probably wouldn't make great business sense to drop a huge install base for a what is likely to be a pretty small one (for at least a year or two, anyway).

While there are probably not that many Switch players left in the west, I bet it's a fairly popular platform in Japan where the Xbox may as well not exist and PC gaming isn't so popular.

Funny thing is, I'm not sure DBD should be having the terrible performance issues that it has on the Switch. Fortnite shares the same game engine, seems to be more demanding (at least to my layman's eyes) and yet is very well optimised for the console. But on my PC, DBD is flawless yet Fortnite ran so poorly I ended up uninstalling it.

I know BHVR doesn't exactly have the same resources as Epic, but surely the Switch version of the game can be improved beyond how it currently runs?

yes I can absolutely vouch for your point about Japan where the Switch and generally all Nintendo consoles are pretty ubiquitous. I started playing DBD whilst I was in Japan

Nemesis players have a bad rep for being tunnelers, but almost every one I meet is goofy as hell. I've farmed with them, participated in slug races, I've even stood on the second floor, admiring the view with one.

yeah I agree. I think players who tunnel will always tunnel regardless of character (and I’m not gonna say that’s good or bad - that debate is always raging) I personally always enjoy Nemi players - the zombies always make me laugh too whether they’re the crazy fast horde variety or the cumbersome ones lol

i feel like this is the story for many Nintendo switch players. I knew nothing about DBD but my friend in Japan played it on switch and bought it for me when I was there. I still remember when I was a potato Dwight and got killed every game but could laugh playing with my friend.

    Thanks.

Honestly i didn't expect they would do that. Usually with switch ports if performance is too bad they won't release it at all because of quality and appearance and all that…

Though if you've heard about the mortal kombat 1 port for switch i guess devs don't really have… standards for switch ports anymore.

yeah the standards are low and always have been. But when we’ve invested so much time and money it is just a very bitter pill to swallow.

I mean the rational part of me does understand and I bought a steam deck because it is the closest thing to switch handheld experience (whilst being FAR superior in visual and performance). I knew the time for switch was nigh and pre-emptively made the move. As @CountOfTheFog mentioned, we usually buy the switch for the Nintendo licence games and can understand and forgive the compromises in terms of graphics and performance etc of other games, however, the sheer investment (monetary and otherwise) makes the situation a very demoralising one.

It makes me sad more than anything but I hope there will be a positive solution for everyone - the problem is the switch playerbase (at least it feels so to me) is seen as ‘not worthy’ enough to have attention paid to it. But the fact is we spend money and love the game as much as anyone .

  • If you watch from 1:32 it explains it briefly (so not a long watch) but the gist is: we made every best effort for 2 v 8 but on switch it is gonna suffer from framerates (most likely very badly if they mentioned it) and they have said they will include switch but it is up to players to decide whether to keep playing it (so, it’s gonna be awful, but you can play it - but don’t complain because we told you so)

Honestly, this complain sounds completely fair to me given BHVRs statements in the past.

I get Nintendo might say No to the DLC Sharing but this feels like something BHVR should then make right themselves. Like…just unlock the Original Characters and give an "At Cost" discount to the DLC (I have no idea how much of the $4 per character goes to BHVR versus whoever owns the rights to the character. While it would be most right for them to just give everyone on Switch the characters on other devices, I can at least understand why they wouldn't just want to eat those costs).

I would even say that as these are digital assets, a show of goodwill can be made (seeing as the person has already spent money on these and this can be verified), that for Switch players transferring who are losing their characters and DLC, they can get a token to download across accounts regardless of Nintendo.

or as you mentioned a discount - DBD players are usually very loyal - we are spending money on an 8 year old game anyway. Goodwill gestures will usually bring benefits in the long run.

I’m sure there are many nuances to this but honestly, loyalty in this case would be the best move.

  • Good grief, if the framerate drops anymore we’d be playing turn-based Gameboy era Pokemon!

I’ve started playing on my steam deck and when I return to my main account on switch, holy moly it is difficult lol

The Switch purist in me sheds a tear at the state of events lol

We're toast. Skip to 1:32:00 of the Livestream to hear about 2 v 8 on Switch 🤦

I feel nostalgia for the days where we were mere toast, we are now the discarded burnt bits on the end of toast.

I shall watch this stream with even more sense of martyrdom than normal lol (இ﹏இ`。)
