Well, I've sure noticed my escape rate rocketed through the roof and average match times went from around 9~11 minutes down to 5~7 before I stopped playing. Though to be fair, I can't tell if that's because of the Ruin nerf, the botched matchmaking, or a mix of both.
Out of curiosity, I've been watching a killer main stream who is relatively new to the game, and oh my god, it's like watching a train wreck. He gets more and more demoralized with the game every day and is pretty close to dropping the game because every game is him versus at least two red ranks, usually rank 1's, usually in a SWF, who absolute bully the ######### out of him. The current state of the game is pathetic. Almost every game he asks "What could I as a new player do? Not what could a 2,000 hour veteran of the game do, what could <I> as a newer player have done?" And there's no answer to that question. There's no solution, other than to not play the game.
This entire "initiative" to help new survivors while the new killers who sometimes don't even have hours into the triple digits yet are just getting repeatedly screwed with a broom stick sideways every game by survivors who have hours into the 3 or even 4 digits.
BHVR totally has their priorities straight, yeah.
In all honesty Survivors in post game chat have a serious toxicity problem and in later games in the day when SWF get on, getting a 4 man flashlight 3 man body blocking on first down at lower skill levels is disheartening for newer players. Getting death treats, told to #########, and other racial/sexual slurs that get thrown by survivors is one of the major turn offs for this game.
I mean I personally dont have an issue when people say this ######### to me, but I know alot of casual players will. When i play survivor I never have the killer say anything remotely as toxic as i get survivors saying to me as killer.

People are sleeping on Oni. Honestly haven't heard a lot about Oni ever since his flick removal. Granted he has some awful early game but once he gets that hit it's gonna be really bad.
You would think that a killer with the mobility of a billy would be bad in Indoor maps but he actually excels and revels in there it's actually hilarious. I'm not even running add ons with him...well I am but it's such pretty garbage stuff that just get blood orbs quick.
Oni is very strong, he just suffers like Billy on maps like Lerry's and Hawkings, and ######### the Great Walls of China in Haddonfield.

Nah, ill take lerry's every time outside of oni and billy over playing some cornfield for the 10,000th time.

As a killer main, Dead Hard is the kind of perk you want BVHR to give survivors, it benefits skill and execution. When it survivor pulls off a proper Dead Hard its always nice to see and respected, rather than DS, BT, or Adrenaline that are just there and/or require a simple skill check. At higher ranks I expect most to be running 3 of the 4 skills listed, and Dead Hard is the only one im not like "okay lets get this mechanic over with and ill hit you again"
DS/Dead On either eat the stun or play around the mechanic. BT hit them again. Adrenaline, chase the Flash and hit them again. Dead Hard chase them another few seconds and hit them, it only really extends the chase small amount or if the survivor is good allows them to escape a lesser skilled killer.

It's okay to be bad at video games. The killers that use the ebonies know that deep down they are, and it's perfectly okay. It's just funny that they try to hide the reason they use it as the ruin nerf or gen speed.
Wut? Most killers use them either for a daily, after having had a string of toxic swf's. or clearing out inventory to prestige.

Why would you use CI on either Hag or Trapper? They either A) hide for two minutes, nullifying a perk, or B) manage to get a gen done in the middle, and when CI ends, they have three new ones in the far reaches of the map that neither Hag nor Trapper can effectively cover. Maybe that's just me.
Either way, I haven't been enjoying it all that much. On the larger maps, I try and force a three gen, and that isn't all that fun. But then, I'm playing mostly Trapper and Plague atm.
Depends on your build, with CI you can build a 3 gen strat using either side of the map, it will require you to push them to the side that you want/dont want during the match. It does require you to be flexible. I dont really like CI on hag but it can be made to work.

XD have fun with that and I dl agree it's mostly fellow survs screwkng you. I honestly think Killers will eventually wisen up and move against them. Might be awhile I do hope the devs start working on this for the sake of balancing issues eventually. Forever Freddy was boring and toxic, but a Survivor running 4 second chance perks is not really all that different either.
First 20 seconds of game, 2 dumb ass survivors just let Michael get T3 stalk on them. How ######### ######### do randoms have to be?

Old Ruin was honestly only to help with bad RNG. A lot of people just used it because they were told it's a perk you need to be able to win by a large percentage of the playerbase. While it definitely had its uses like learning a new killer. It was never really needed other then a few things. I think what really irritated people was when it got revealed that it was being changed the comment was entirely "Survivor Bias". Truthfully it was pretty survivor sided.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1033551#Comment_1033551
It is a unbalanced game it just depends on which update cycle we are in which side it typically favors. Currently Killers are stronger then they have ever been, but that does not improve the quality of playing Killer against God Tier Loops, Broken RNG Pallet spawns, Horrid Map Design, and Survivors stacking second chance perk upon second chance perk. While it may seem kinda moot it does not take much skill as a survivor to abuse these elements. Map design can affect both sides watch how the next new map release goes.
I could explain the Survivors issues for the game as well against killers, but that's honestly a beaten horse on the forums currently. It's all over the place.
In the end I thing both sides need some amounts of reworks. Yet everyone looks at specific issues which imho rarely are the real issues.
I am having fun abusing all the second chance perks as a survivor doing the archive objectives and leveling the remainder of my survivors. So many second chances and ways to ######### over a killer with almost no effort. The real enemy to survivor is their fellow survivors, they get me killed more than the killers actions.

He seems faster, pallets don’t drop with him, and that static blast was stupid strong. We’re rank 5-8 so it was weird how good this doctor was.
I know people will rush to be original and say get gud, so go ahead, but what does everyone else think?
Rank 5-8 survivors may as well be rank 20 survivors. Even in red ranks you are going to find players that dont know the basic mechanics of killers. For doctor all you really need to do is not stay bunched up when he is around, dont stay in m3, and he counters flashlights.

Doctor doesnt need a nerf, players just need to learn to counter his mechanics. I main killer but dont even have Doctor unlocked, but having played survivor a decent amount since the Docotor rework, I have yet to go against a Doctor and feel like he is too strong. Its simply get out madness 3 and dont stay bunched up if hes around. With the ruin nerf, his skill checks are the only ones that have a challenge, simply for the random placement and rotation. It actually makes skill checks more fun then holding m1 and pressing spacebar every 10 seconds.

You know, when think about starting to main Ghostface just so you can t-bag back, you really start wishing every killer could crouch.

Correct you can record longer but i've not record everything because the game lasted 30m why would i lie. Killers blocked because he wanted to troll. My team have done all gens and opened the doors at 99%, but instead of opening the door they taken the hatch so EGC haven't occur. I've blamed them but he doesn't change the fact that the killer was holding me hostage with another teammate.
Like i said you want to treat me of liar go ahead but, i haven't cut anything and is the full clip i had. If you want however i can give you the full ID list of who i've played even the random who were with us.
You have every reason to lie, you are trying to persuade the devs to take action against a killer you hold a grudge against. Again, you have more than a 48 second clip, you recorded via PS4, settings are at given intervals. Quit lying.

As I said above, escaping isn't forcing anything. That's only true if the killer was somehow unable to move. Assuming that the killer wasn't bugged in place, it was 100% their decision to hold the game hostage from that point onwards.
And while I agree that the evidence OP posted is inconclusive, and the game was not being held hostage in that video, I think it's a bit unfair to accuse them of "cherry picking to fit their narrative" just because they don't have a recording of the relevant section of the match.
See my post above, he records his gameplay on PS4, he has more than the 48 second clip. He cherry picked to fit narrative.
-
Furthermore, looking at his channel he is playing on PS4 and has videos of 10minutes to over and hour in length. He records his gameplay and only post 48 second clip, just post the entire match, so the argument can end.
-

It doesn't matter what the killer was thinking. They didn't know that the survivors were in a group, and even if they did, it wouldn't matter. If they continued to block the stairs after the others escaped, they were breaking the rules and taking the game hostage. You can sympathise with them, but they were still in the wrong.
Technically yes, but it OP should post the whole length of video, not cherry pick to fit narrative. Also SWF with communications could force the hostage situation in an attempt to get the killer banned. If that was their intent then it really just arguing over who is breaking the rules more, neither should have happened.
-
@xllxENIGMAxllx said:

IT is because Jane and the other teammate escaped via hatch. It's not shown but it's what has happened.
Then show the full video. Also were you swf? Because its starting sound more like you tried to force a hostage situation if anything at all. 48 second video is a clip, if you were using shadow play it would be longer duration typically of whole minute values.
-
@ermsy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1031950#Comment_1031950
Ah it does kinda follow his narrative, that survivor did get the hatch...but I think it happened in the opposite order. Claudette finds the hatch, the two DC and the hatch opens, she escapes.
In which case, the game was not held hostage.
He needs to upload the full video then, as it stands you have 4 healthy survivors, 2 blocked upstairs and 1 gen left to be completed. When people omit the full information while trying to persuade others, its usually intentional. If the hatch was opened and the two other survivors left, the HUD would display 1 gen and the hatch icon, as well as 2 survivors having exited. If the players were an swf and communicating they very easily could be trying to force a hostage situation to get the killer banned out of spite.

Why didn't you show the end of the match or at least the others opening the hatch to escape?
Because it doesnt fit his narrative. He is selectively sharing information to sway others opinions.
-
Not taking game hostage, jane on stairs can finish 1 gen, start egc and the game will end. The spirit could chase her leaving time for the others to get down or stand there blocking and the two or three survivors with die from entity after egc ends.
-
@xllxENIGMAxllx said:

I do but he doesn't change the fact the spirit is exploiting. Saying that killers use a DIRTY tactics to Kill is like saying it's not a exploit. This is a exploit and devs HAVE to fix it.
Using "dirty" tactics is not an exploit. Hell the devs have recommended killers slug and use as bait within the past few days on these forums. You had the option of finding the hatch or powering the gates to start egc. Your friend is not owed an escape from the killer nor is he owed a kill, you got outplayed; it happens to everyone.
-
@ermsy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1031833#Comment_1031833
The out of house team did finish the gens but opted to use the hatch rather than open the exits so egc never prompted...so in this scenario the game was held hostage.
Then thats not taking the game hostage, you can open the gates or find the hatch. Or you could eat a basic attack tap your friend and try for save. Killers lose collision for a brief period on basic attack to prevent body blocking in a hostage situation, and this is not a hostage situation.
-
DS is fine in its intended use as an anti-tunnel perk. Its problem is when it is used in combination with other perks in an unintended way, baiting, protection hitting, hook teching etc... Even then its not really a huge annoyance unless its a full team "abusing" these mechanics. Now if you want to talk about broken perks, Adrenaline is the one that needs a straight nerf and thats only due to the way its used in higher ranks.
2 man body blocking 1 hook teching to BT a hooked survivor, slug all 3, some have DS and the previous hooked guy goes and taps a 99'd gen and now you have 4 Flash's running to exit gates Survivors need more buffs pls. 😂

Either way, play a sandbox game where losing isn't an option.
Or you know BHVR could attempt to fix why both survivors and killers are finding DC'ing is the best solution.
Hell if making Ruin less "frustrating" for new survivors was their primary objective with the ruin change, a simple tutorial regarding hex perks and totems would have sufficed or provided a stop-gap measure until the could address the underlying problem. But no lets be oblivious and tell players of game with a declining returning population to go play another game. How are survivor queue times at red ranks right now?

If you think playing killer is stressful, like I've seen a few people say, stop playing the game. Games should be fun. The fact that you're worried about perks possibly being nerfed in the future is insane. If it's not fun, stop playing, and stop making drama where there is none.
They can and tend to be stressful, but there is still a fun element to the killer role/ however that fun element goes out the window when simply having a bad spawn location on certain maps compounded with bad generator/tile spawns means you are 3 gens down before you even get the first hook. I play way to much and enjoy sweaty games, what i do not like is when im left cold sweating because im caught with my pants down by factors outside of my control and because the dev's decided to push an unfinished balance patch out irregardless of gameplay. They said they have been working on a change to ruin since june or july 2019 and they honestly thought pushing out the change without balancing the underlying problem was going to make anyones experience better, be it survivor or killer. Thats just being willfully ignorant.
That five or six months they have had to conceptualize, test, and implement a change to ruin in an attempt to balance the game, is enough time to address the underlying problem. By only balancing a temporary fix, ruin, they left the original problem and shoveled more issues on top simultaneously making gameplay less enjoyable for both survivors and killers. It is the same mentality as "fix it in post", they should have held the ruin portion of the patch until they finished the remainder of the balancing related to the problem. In all honesty it more likely came down to project managements call or lack of resources.
Then there was their formal release of patch notes and reasoning behind it. One thing is for certain, BHVR needs to hire a communications specialist or at least send who ever wrote that release to a workshop. The bias, be it perceived or real is definite and only hindered their efforts for patch 3.5.0.

I wish I had BBQ, I don’t own Leatherface and don’t plan to purchase any more killers with money for a while. At least until they make it less stressful and have all maps reduced in size.
I’ll pray it shows up in the shrine soon.
Yeah it sucks that its behind a paywall or you can wait the 2 times a year its on the shrine. The time saved farming bloodpoints is the only reason why purchased Leatherface. I have all the licensed killers besides Demo that I purchased before patch 3.5.0. I would not have made the purchases if I had know how patch 3.5.0 was going to turn out and what the devs intentions are for killers. If you plan to stay with the game, he is the only licensed package I would recommend spending actual money on simply for BBQ alone. It cuts the grind down immensely for both killers and survivors. Outside of BBQ, leatherface is just a meme killer so know you really are only pay $5 for one perk, maybe two if you like Franklins, which I do.

I'm sorry, but what? Are you constantly running party streamers or something? 40k for a bad game. . . I'm calling bs.
No, I don't run BBQ often. I can't capitalize on it often enough to justify the perk slot, at least not on my Plague and Trapper.
Oh man, you are missing out. BBQ is mandatory for the grind. Unless you have all the perks and addons you want or killers/survivors to p3, BBQ is just to good to not run. The actual perks use is powerful on a good number of killers but its the bloodpoints is why i run it. I want my 4 stacks everygame. 25-32k average before bbq with no offerings turns into 50-64k then 75k-96k with BPS or 100% solo offerings.
I main Hag, but play Freddy and Oni a fair amount. Both Hag and Freddy are strong for maxing each quadrant for scoring. Oni you have to make sure to use his skill and collect blood orbs for devious. Ive only level plague to 40 and use her only for dailys but ive heard she is harder to farm bloodpoint with due to her skill not stacking points as easily. Like every phantasm attack on Hag is 500 points to devious, traps triggering are 200 points. Wraith is another good one if you land attacks after coming out of cloak.
