I'm still against any form of nerf to the basekit, but if they wanted to give more counterplay to survivors they could've slightly increased fatigue instead of creating this whole blink recharge bullshit. Like why are they overcomplicating a simple issue? It's so weird.
-
You better bet your top dollar she's getting the Nurse treatment. Legit has even less counterplay than Nurse but Nurse still gets the nerf first.
-
Whether a pallet is "safe" or "unsafe" doesn't really matter to a Nurse. LOS is what decides it.
-
I like knowing that the character I have won't limit me, only my skill will (Spirit is debatable, I'm a Nurse main). And winning due to that is fun.
Actually, winning is just fun.

Hm. What's your point? This "slight" nerf is needed. As an ex-Nurse main I kinda stopped playing her because she was definitely easy mode.
Oh, and a little tweak =/= straight up buff.
I know that many players are kinda incapable of learning from their mistakes and take 4ks for granted, but the faster someone accept not every match is supposed to be a flawless victory, the faster he'll really learn how to actually play the game.
Instead of seeing her as ez mode, I see it as a killer who requires a different mindset to beat. Most players want to use the conventional tactics with pallets and loops on every killer, and Nurse breaks that gameplay loop. If people just took the time to learn how to properly play against her, there wouldn't be this much uproar of her having no counterplay. You wouldn't believe how much prediction goes into playing Nurse, and how smart survivors can screw over a Nurse vet's past experiences against other survivors in similar situations. She has counterplay, but due to both the ranking system being meaningless when determining skill past mediocre leading players to believe they're actually good, and pure laziness to adapt, we get outcries of "no counterplay!" Spirit is much worse in this regard. Nurse has a strong hand, but not unbeatable. And for how many hours you have to sink into her, it really should be a good reward.
-
People who don't play her won't understand just how valuable being able to follow up blinks immediately are. They just get smashed by some Nurse, refuse to learn how to utilize her counterplay, then call for nerfs.

Rank 20 Nurse actually has the lowest kill rate of any killer. If we were basing it off of rank 20, she would be buffed.
It's okay if you don't like the changes, but at least give them a try first and at least tell us why you don't like them. Making up reasons isn't going to accomplish anything.
There was no answer to why she was getting a nerf to her basekit either. Can't you get some actually good Nurse mains to give you advice on how to rework the Nurse? You know, Marth... And some competitive players who've won significant tournaments, Space Esports, TydeTyme's 750$... The team seems to not be willing to take input from the top players.

I will give them a try. But I am fully prepared for the worst. There is so much you lose from not being able to blink directly after a fatigue, and so many people who don't play her to a certain level will not understand. Honestly if you wanted to slow her snowball, increase her fatigue. Implementing a whole cooldown on her is too drastic.

The LF add ons you’re talking about aren’t even high rarity, I could realistically use them every game, it isn’t a fact, if you can’t do anything against halfway decent survivors then the killer isn’t the problem.
A lot of people seem to expect to kill fully decked out survivors without decking out themselves.
And even when you deck out yourself, you can't win. Survivors against LF and Wraith specifically do not need to be decked out to assure their victory. If you do not see this problem then I implore you to take another look at what it means for a killer to be completely powerless.

I wasn’t aware that being in red ranks prevented you from playing 14 of the killers, I’ve been playing LF,Trapper and Wraith just fine.
It gets to a point where you can't do a single thing through no fault of your own. Leatherface and Wraith have no ability beyond the 115% to get downs without high-rarity addons. Even then, their down game is very bad. With most maps, when a survivor knows what they are doing, you cannot down them quick enough to get a hold on the game. You can't do anything.
On the other token, there are killers that can do something. You can't just state "You can use all killers" when it is a fact that most of them can't do a single thing against halfway decent players. No amount of skill will let you win.

Despite what a lot of users on here may think, the devs do not favour one side over the other, just because survivors were OP in the past does not mean they are now, it also doesn't mean that certain killers didn't need their fair share of adjustments. The devs are trying something new out and a huge amount of users on here are acting as though the devs just punched them in the face.
It's a suckerpunch to my face especially, because I've played her since her release.
-
I've been playing Nurse since her release. A big part of her power and getting hits in was blinking to an area with two blinks, then being able to secure a hit on survivors using another two. This was most of her kit and her way of downing. This DRASTICALLY increases the time to down. I am very unhappy with the changes, as her basekit was the only kit that can handle top tier swfs without too much of an issue. I don't even use addons because I don't like them, but those were the ONLY thing she needed fixed. Now that we have addons affecting her cooldown timer, it's VERY unlikely that we will get Nurse's basekit back. F
-
My style may be "sweaty" according to what people post here. I play for the 4k, amd play to do it as fast as possible. In my eyes, a 4k is a complete victory. I find winning fun, amd there isn't antthing wrong with that. I expect others that I am playing against to be playing to win also, which in their case is escaping. So if I don't I'm at a disadvantage. I don't like addons due to my philosophy that if you can't guarantee use of something every round, you can't be consistently good.
I don't see why a lot of people, especially on the forums, see it as "below them" or unsanitary. Everyone is playing for their own reasons, and as long as you aren't exploiting or cheating, there's nothing wrong with the way you play.

So the community spoke.
People who want a whole nerf: 40
People who want her as she is now : 30
, So it's 42,86% VS 57,14%.
So following democracy I think the nurse definitely must get nerfed
Don't remember this being a poll. You completely disregard the readers who just didn't post, which is over 10x the amount of people who've commented.

Played since launch and have played and won many high profile tournaments under the team name of Instant Dodge. (750$ TydeTyme tourney, x4 Space Esports 150$ weekly ritual tourneys) And can say that OoO is the sole reason many killers other than spirit or Nurse aren't played in a competitive setting. It guts them to the point of it being sad, trapper especially. It is perfect information with little downside. That downside of being seen is only usable by killers that don't have to spend a large amount of time getting close you you, ala Nurse and Spirit. Huntress is just a big sad.
How to rework it is up in the air, but it should not be in the state it is today.
I will say that you have to be good at the game to use it effectively.
-
I don't know if DBD can handle any more anime, but if it involves thic thighs I'm down.

Would be a good idea to show what hag struggles with I suppose. Knowing that if survivors know how to safely pop traps and always be able to get to a safe zone, Hag will almost never stand a chance against a 4man OoO team. I did some teating, and a survivor that triggers a trap at the very edge of it's hitbox has a good 28-36 meters if the hag teleports immediately before the Hag can get a hit in.
https://youtu.be/tPid20Wo2LwThis actually makes me sad. I've tried to play Hag in many tournaments, but she really doesn't stand a chance when OoO is in play against the best of the best.
-
Should be invisible entirely when in cloak I feel. It gives Wraith more mindgame potential, and survivors can still see grass moving and him (Wraith Sounds) and stomping. He already takes 3 seconds to come out of cloak, so it isn't spirit on steroids. That and a few other buffs I think would be great.
-
Plague has better perks, and has good slowdown perk synergy (thanataphobia + Dying light), while demo has a harder time snowballing survivors. If you bring apples for fountains each game or find a way to make it so unberable to not cleanse against you, Plague I feel is more consistent than Demo. With everyone being 1-shot she has better snowball potential, and her corrupt puke is a very powerful tool that if she got to utilize it more, she'd be one of the top tier killers.
-
I P3-50 maxed plague, and have found that Thanata, Dying light, BBQ, and discordance are consistently good in public rank 1 games. If you struggle early game it might also be worth it to switch our Discordance for Ruin. Also it can be situationally advantageous to use play with your food. Plague on her own isn't that good. You have to use specific perks to get her full potential.
Also should mention I almost never run addons.
-
Please keep in mind that dedicated servers don't actually decrease ping between players. It only judges your distance from you to the server itself. In actuality, a lot of back and forth checks are made in order to confirm changes in the game state like a hit on a survivor, which is why you see a bunch of weird things like grabs not happening with the dedicated servers. It adds another link in the chain, so instead of the signals going directly from you to the survivor, they need to pass through the server. The only thing servers can provide is consistency to some degree.

Against solo survivors basekit nurse wins every game if the nurse plays well.
Against SWF teams a nurse with addons wins every game if the nurse plays well (and doesn't get a terrible map).
If that is people's idea of balanced, I would never be interested in playing a game they create.
We're talking strictly without addons.
-
I think it's great that the devs are looking at making Nurse an easier killer to get into. Though the addon that teleports you back to your previous position looks entirely useless bar some niche situations.
-
@FireHazard said:
If we're talking no add-ons and no offerings... Than it can be do-able to avoid her while also making it not as overpowered as some would believe.
If we're talking PS4 Nurse, than I couldn't say for sure as I hear more Nurses there have a harder time with the controls. (Unless, you've already mastered it on controller than nevermind)
Yeah, I don't buy it when people say Nurse doesn't have counterplay. Granted it is different and there is no guaranteed safety like with pallets, but that in my eyes makes her balanced. If there was guaranteed safety from counterplay, there would be little chance to actually get anywhere. This is where I see problems with m1 killers. A window or a pallet almost always spell out guaranteed safety when against them. There has to be a level of counterplay that allows both sides to have a chance at every chance, Nurse happens to come very close to that in my eyes. But for the most part that's an issue with game design.
-
Nurse:
Whispers
BBQ
Bloodhound/I'm All Ears
Infectious Fright
It takes a ton of effort to become good enough with Nurse to play entirely without slowdown perks, but once you get there it's so damn good. Infectious Fright is probably the best perk on Nurse due to her ability to catch up to survivors faster than any other killer. Generally the pressure you build up with one downed and one slugged is enough to compensate for generator slowdown perks. Plus I love non-stop snowballing.

OoO is for experienced players, and its a great tool or at least if you feel like it can be a lot of fun, even if you die quick.
And Spirit can be countered even when she is a Top 3 killer, but with Nurse I dont feel you have lots of tools to avoid her, and all I see here is Nurse mains tryhards defending their broken killer with tooth and nails.
"I dont feel you have lots of tools to avoid her"
I get that, but I have experienced it first hand. It's just a matter of learning how to outplay a Nurse. What the true good Nurses will do is predict where you're going to go, and breaking their hundreds of hours of what survivors do in this situation is what allows for counterplay. You may "feel" a certain way, but it takes time to learn, especially since you don't play against Nurse every game. Understanding that if at all possible running away from a Nurse instead of staying inside a structure can lead you to leave the max range of a Nurse's blink and allow you to make it to another structure to prolong the chase. You can't just keep bashing it in and trying without thinking. Work smart, not hard. All I ask is that you see it from my perspective. Not trying to change your mind, but allow yourself to open up to new ideas.
Many people think there is no counterplay to Nurse. So it's been ingrained in most of the players minds that no matter what they do, they can't win. And if you aren't working and playing smart with the idea that no matter what you do, you will die, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Break away from that mindset. You won't be able to escape a Nurse 100% of the time. But that's how it should be. If everything had counterplay, nothing would be viable. Sometimes it is necessary to have overly strong characters and powers in order to bring out a more strategic mindset. Reminds me of For Honor. People get mad over unreactable attacks, but if everything was reactable no one would attack. That kind of philosophy is necessary in order for games to thrive, in my opinion of course.

Well, please illustrate us with your Dev knowledge from outworld.
Well before the public realized it, it was the competitive meta to use OoO on all killers but spirit and Nurse. Before the fast vault nerf, it was possible to fast vault reverse cowtree and long 4 walls making it impossible to get a hit in with M1s. Those are a few.

I love these nurse threads. Always filled with the same nurse mains clinging to the hope that their imbalanced killer isn't broken.
All other killers require the use of addons at the highest level - not nurse. And yet 'nurse basekit is fine'? LOL
It is so clear that a huge maps overhaul for the weaker killers (smaller, better designed) and a nurse BASEKIT nerf are what is needed to make this game closer to balanced. But that would anger the legions of nurse mains who think that just because they've put some time into the killer that they deserve to dominate all but the best survivors even when they themselves are not very good Killers. Some of the killers with the worst game sense I've seen are nurse players at red ranks, relying on her overpowered kit to carry them.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/729291#Comment_729291
The only way the best survivors are beating the best nurse is if that nurse plays poorly or they get a bad map.
I don't know how you'd know what the top survivors vs a top nurse would do against each other given no items or addons or offerings. Sure, I acquiesce that maps do play a large part, but I'm fairly sure you haven't seen a team that has such experience against Nurse. You can't just say a god Nurse will beat anyone and anything without taking into consideration the types of counters survivors can employ. Fact is, most public games are filled with people who don't necessarily want to learn a different way of countering a killer other than the method that is most prevalent today (looping, pallets, and windows). Sure you probably have never experienced it. But I implore you to actually consider it given the person you're talking to has a vast amount of experience beyond public matches. There are a wealth of strategies that competitive survivors employ, not all being in the realm of public knowledge.

Was already done several times when nurse mains showed their statistics. If you show those who defend nurse a thousands of games they will rely on 10 games where such thing didnt happen in order to pretend everything is alright. So nothing to gain from working me out for people who dont want to change their "opinion".
I've been a Nurse main since release and have partaken in several tournaments. I've won TydeTyme's 750$ stuffed by daylight tourney and my team won most of Space Esports 150$ weekly ritual tournaments (4/10 I believe). I can say that for certain, basekit at the highest end of play is balanced, and at the end of the day survivors who know what they're doing will have the upper hand. I may only provide anecdotal evidence, but I come from a position of authority in this matter. I've seen the best players in this game absolutely destroy a great Nurse using no addons with all perks allowed. My own team even can wipe the floor with me from time to time.

It's more annpying to do now then it was earlier, but you now have to paste a code into the engine.ini file to override the current setting. Should be a link to a post ahowing how to do this in my post about disabling AA at the bottom of the post.

You're telling me Nurse has no skill requirement? Come on, you have muscle memory to hard predictions. A Nurse who can't make predictions isn't a very good one. As for the mechanic of blinking, you can't say she's easy. Don't be disingenuous with sweeping statements.

Wouldn't that just make one Survivor better than all the rest? So for example, if Claudette with her already passive ability (Not intentional) to be hidden, and this increases that with her brown clothes add-ons that a lot of Claudette mains love to abuse...
Than you add healing bonus on-top of that? Yuck... BHVR has stated before that all Survivors want an equal experience, and not one should be above the rest. It's a different case with Killers because their powers naturally make one better than the others.
Could be solved by only allowing one player to be one character. Though that would require a whole rehaul of the BP system.

The matchmaking system has been bad, that we can agree on.
However, killer being easy at rank 1? Not even remotely.
The game has been since release and still is quite catered towards survivors. This is the opinion held by most players who actually play both sides at rank 1 and with a good amount of hours into the game.
I tried to be neutral in the matter, but I'm not saying killer is easy. What I said applies more towards survivors from my experience. Just didn't want people to divide again when this is an issue for both sides.
-
Your post made me realize something key. A big reason why a killer or survivor complains about "scummy" tactics (at red ranks) is because a large portion of them may believe they are at the top of the skill-curve for simply being rank 1. As more experience people know, achieving rank 1 means nothing. It gives a false sense of "skill" that despite actual skill (being able to prolong a chase consistently, being able to efficiently sacrifice survivors, being able to decide when to heal, save, or do generators...) which gives them the belief that they have authority over the game. A lot of them aren't good, but they think they are just because of the falsehood title of "Rank 1."
-
Not particularly. Survivors would still hold the upper hand and arguably more so than in the current iteration at the highest level of play.
BBQ I still don't see why people yell about it.

Nope, I've unlocked adapts with with Ruthless with at least three killers. HybridPanda even has his adapt shape video with ruthless.
Then it must've been bugged, because all adept achievements require Merciless. Please provide a link to what videos you spoke of.
-
@Mr_K said:
Technically they fixed it. Originally killing all four was a Merciless Victory regardless if by hook or mori. During the Victory Cube you could still get the adapt by Ruthless Victory as long as all four died. I believe starting with the Legion chapter it was again tied to the result Merciless. With the progressive pip system we have now, it becomes harder to achieve the higher your rank.
It comes down to the devs unwillingness to change achievement conditions. Like stated earlier, killing all four was Merciless. Killing all four was the underline standard. The achievements need to be reword to say kill all four survivors instead of Merciless Victory to represent the original standard.
Please read the above post, you could not get a merciless with a mori if you didn't at least 2 hook everyone with the old ranking system.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
While a 4K can be pretty easy with an Ebony, maybe just change it to 4 Sacrifices. Sure, a DC might ruin it then, but this happens with the current system anyway.
It just does not make sense that Ranking Up means that the Achievement is harder to get, because you need more points. It sure is harder anyway, because the Survivors are better at High Ranks, but this should be enough.
You couldn't get the achievement if you exclusively used a mori back before emblems to 4k. At the very least you'd have to 2 hook survivors due to how the ranking system worked. Each survivor had 4 possible points you could take from them, sacrificing them would award you with all 4. Each hook counted as 1/4 of that. A mori counted as 1/4 or 2/4 so you couldn't double pip if you only 1-hooked everyone and morid.
-
I think it was somewhere in the ballpark of 96%
-
It takes him just as long as a regular pallet break to recover from the stun of breaking the pallet. All it does is cut out the inbetween time of a survivor dropping it and a killer having to rev a chainsaw or walk up to a pallet to break it.
-
It's kindof redundant because the obsession isn't affected by the regression. Most you can really hope for is in the ballpark of 18%, or 5 hooks before the perk starts to matter less and less.
-
4k doesn't equal a double pip anymore unfortunately. You have to try and score well in each emblem, which at red ranks can be a nightmare using only adept perks. Study up on the emblems and know that you should be hooking 10-12 times.

It is to do with a line in the new hotfix patch notes.
They will be applying AA to Low settings, whereas before it was only applied to Medium and higher.
I have the game set to Low but enable Ultra textures, shadows etc in the settings .ini file, but leave AA disabled because it's like playing with cataracts. The game looks great and crisp this way.
Also OP, I seriously doubt they would ban for editing the settings file.
It wouldn't be intentional, rather if EAC decides for whatever reason it is bannable, then you have the issue where the devs stated that they will NOT unban you.
-
@not_Queef said:
Wait, so if I have antialiasing set to 0 in the settings .ini file, this will no longer disable it completely?
I would prefer the awful hair than vaseline-o-vision.
If you have it set to 0 in the ini file, it should be off after the patch. But the problem is introducing "vaseline-o-vision" with no option to turn it off other than risking a ban. How large this risk is, is unknown.

The measurement of a good killer isn't by kills, but by hooks. Camping isn't a strategy and it's cute you think that it is. Camping in any game just indicates that someone is bad and perhaps afraid. The game rewards more hooks opposed to more kills and the game actually punishes you for camping hooks, fyi. You literally lose piping points or experience. If you wanna occupy survivors time and get them off gens then play a good killer and apply pressure, slug, etc.

NOT goal: kills
