If you mean not as skill-less as it was, sure. Those actually good with him are doing fine.
Also, imagine quoting and replying to your own post to further your point.
You're using a logical fallacy called the appeal to authority. "Those actually good with him are doing fine" is the same thing they said about Nurse. Please be careful with your arguments.

I think you need to get your reading checked. Clearly the patch notes said D A S H, not the regular M1 flick.
However, yes, this is the exact same flick as it happens when using Demon Dash. Also, shout out to the dev that said "you can use your mouse to 90° flick omegabrain" - no, you can't.
If you consider the Oni being able to just mildly move his camera (5-10°) to the edge of your screen, then you either expect your players to break their wrist to achieve what you call "the flick" or it just doesn't work.
Either way, bring back what we had.
Had tested that too, same deal. I'll try to get the clip up just forgot to include it here.

Hello
Use the mouse not the keys, you should go 90 no problem.
I'm using the mouse, with controller sense set to 100% (Because billy at some point ect.) and I'm getting like 10 degrees as well.

Survivors need to be judged moreso as a team instead of individually. Of course completing generators and saving survivors should count towards it, but escaping is the main goal and depending on how important you were in a match say if you died but 3 people escaped, you'd pip because of your taking killer aggression/whatever.
-
I love how it seems every game mechanic is trying its best to screw me over. I've autoaimed to more corners than I can count. I've had wonky geometry screw me out of blinks because my player model wasn't 100% not touching the rock or pile of boxes and crates. Then you have that cooldown exacerbating it all by punishing you for something that you aren't responsible for.
And all it takes is a few mistakes to lose.
-
What stealth does against Plague and Oni is deny them their power. I've had many games against Plague in particular where I took it a bit slower and was able to avoid getting sick for the entirety of the game. The same can be done with Oni, as typically you won't see whispers being ran on him. Spinechill can prove a very useful tool for this kind of play. After they gain their power, that's when you're going to see stealth do little to nothing.

I love Oni. He's fun as hell to play and fun to play against. I'm not even mad when he one shots me because I'm just like "Crap you got me." It actually feels engaging from both sides, unlike Iridescent Hatches or an insta-saw Billy where he just gets right on your ass and just holds his ability.
In the right hands Oni is also very strong. I 4K almost every match, but a lot of those matches are fairly close. I don't really feel this release was stale but Demo fell off really hard I agree...
Yeah, no doubt he's a very strong killer. What I'm trying to get at is that his and the last few chapters worth of killers have had lacking skillcaps. It doesn't take a whole lot of time to become proficient with Oni unlike Nurse and Huntress. You don't have that seemingly endless application of power those two and a few others like Trapper and Hag. I think that future killers would benefit from being hard to use in a good way, with seemingly limitless applications. That's all.

Personally I believe Plague and Demogorgon are well designed killers. I have fun playing as and against both of them. I have zero complains other than the fact that survivors can deny Plague her Corrupt Purge (I always get teams who cleanse though even though I’d rather they not cleanse).
Legion is the only BADLY designed killer in my opinion. They’re just awful in every aspect and a chore to play as and against.
I haven’t played as Oni yet so I don’t have a strong opinion. Based off of gameplay I’ve seen I believe he is very strong in the right hands.
We’ve had a few good perks in the past year like Discordance, Infectious Fright, Corrupt Intervention, and Thrilling Tremors. Of course there will be duds and meme perks like Iron Maiden and Dark Devotion but perks are can always can change ya know.
I agree the add-ons are a bit stale though. I love killers that change the way they are played based on the add-ons they use, like Myers and Nurse. Add-ons could use more variety.
I want more high skill cap killers like Nurse and Huntress or killers that have their power based on elemental factors in the trial like the fog or crows. Just something unique and not seen before.
Legion- Terrible
Plague- Strong in the right hands
Ghostface- Strong
Demogorgon- Solid killer
Oni- Very strong in the right hands
I don’t what there is too complain about. Of the past five killers, 4 of the them are strong killers. Other than maybe boredom.
You're absolutely right, these killers are by no means weak, in fact many are very strong. What I am trying to convey is that these killers do not have high skillcaps. Skillcaps and actual strengths are separate. You can have a low skillcap killer that performs very well, Plague for instance. Her power is very easy to understand and use to its fullest potential. I think for the longevity of the game, killers that take time to learn will lead to less stale gameplay and will give us more bang for our buck when it comes to dlc killers. Hag is probably the only payed-for DLC that has a skillcap close to what should be expected of all killers. We have enough easy killers, what we need now is actually hard killers.

I respect all these opinions, but I quite literally feel the opposite. I feel like these last 2 killers have been some of the best they've ever made, I absolutely love their design and gameplay.
They feel like some of the most effort they've ever put into designs in total, from the animations, the sound design (unique TR + chase music ftw), and models, to just how fun they are to play for me.
Oni's addons are fine to me, but I agree Demo's are the most boring addons they've ever made in DBD.
I totally agree from a concept and artistic standpoint, they have been doing excellent. What I'm concerned with is that there have been a severe lack of killers that require time and skill to be used effectively like Nurse and Huntress. You essentially know how to play Plague after a few matches, and the same with Oni. I believe there is something special in a killer that you can always learn from, say like learning new trapper trap placements. The new killers have close to none of this.

I would love a mew killer that rewards skill and practice like Huntress or Nurse. Too bad the survivors would riot against anything they can't instantly counter with an unsafe pallet loop.
Every future killer will most likely be a stale mess with niche/bad perks, not to mention with counter play built into their kit. Instead of being something survivors figure out.
Can only pray. I just don't know how they'd pull it off. Maybe a bow&arrow killer that is very risk reward?
-
@Cetren said:
100% agree with this. As time goes out, its going to become harder to justify adding new killers that don't introduce anything new into the game. With that in mind, what does the Oni introduce?
Not one shot mechanics.
Not a sprint attack ability.
Not a limited time mode that makes you more powerful.
There isn't a single new mechanic or even new gameplay style born of the killer. Lets look at the demogorgon. What did he introduce that was brand new?
Not a long attack that is charged up.
Not the ability to break pallets with this attack.
Not being able to teleport to different locations.
In fact, I think the only reason either of these two have been considered different or interesting is their unique audio and ambience, which they did a great job with, but that quickly becomes old and once again leaves a stale taste to the killer. Just like demo, give the oni some time for his flare to die down and it'll just be another killer in the new Billy-Myers-Oni trifecta of instant down killers.
They need to release killers that REALLY change the game and introduce new mechanics. Here's a list of outdated mechanics they could use;
-Fog
-Crows
-Skillchecks
-Luck
This is just a few. There's also been datamined stuff they could introduce as well, such as artifacts.
I'm dying for a killer that brings something new to the table.

Devs are afraid of adding powerful killers with good perks. Can’t blame them either, if they add an S tier killer with strong perks they’ll get constant “f devs” “so killer sided #########” “hell were y’all thinking” “nerf this ######### now devs.” Then again for a really strong killer it has to require skill and can’t be a pick up and master.
Flip a coin too. It’s been awhile since survivors had meta changing perks. If they add really good survivor perks, killers will bash the devs. While as broken as MoM was, it was meta changing. However it was strong and took no skill.
Personally the devs need to make a 50/50 chapter but start with strong perks. Ex:
- Killer: After downing 5/4/3 survivors, the next basic attack will instantly down a survivor.
- Survivor: When injured, after unhooking another survivor, both you and the survivor will be passively healed over the course of 20/15/10 seconds.
It'd be interesting to see some meta changes.

They're afraid to create another viable killer like nurse.
I wish they'd create a killer that's viable with a skillcap like Nurse. After her artificial limitations were added to her basekit it feels so wonky with what seems like so many mechanics battling against you from autoaiming on to corners, to short-blinking on complex geometry, to dedicated servers. She's a shell of what she once was.

@youarewronglol said:
well it doesn't help that ONI/ghostface/demo have really bad and boring add-ons, even the ultra rares
Indeed.

Personally, I think the reason we've been seeing very small bits of oni is because of his skillcap. He doesn't really provide a challenging experience to users that rewards them for great showings of skill. He doesn't have things like cross-map hatchets, perfectly predicted blinks, or chainsaw curves.
He's strong, no doubt. But you only need an hour or two to experience what is very close to his full potential. There's no getting better with trap placements with this killer. You hit, suck up blood, blood rage, run around and insta down people. There's no great amount of skill. There's a reason people play killers like Nurse, Huntress, Hag, and Trapper with such devotion. Their possibilities are engaging, and seeing the fruit of your effort is a good feeling. You don't get that with demo, oni, ghostface, plague.
We haven't gotten a killer with a truly high skillcap killer since arguably huntress (I might be missing one here). This is where we are seeing the game become stale.

How the heckledoodle am I suppose to derive satisfaction from bulldozing a darntootin yam of a player? How is this engaging?

Hawkins' demented cousin.
-
As long as it doesn't activate from grabs from lockers, and other actions I'm fine with it now.
-
His power is more effective in loops compared to billy. His neutral charged lunge in blood rage is akin to a demo lunge but can instant down and has better turning. Only thing is that it's a lesser distance I believe and it could be a tiny bit slower in movement. Still effective at shack and several pallet loops with relatively straight walls.

Or maybe you just cant comprehend someone not having "the norm" of the usual nurse opinions who aren't lemming train followers that think she is ruined, I think the changes they did were perfect, people just need to git gud
Do you think that Nurse with only basekit pre-nerf was overpowered? If so, do you also think that a very efficient 4man is also overpowered? What do you think the game should be balanced around? Solo, SWF? These are the questions that will help me and others gauge where you lie instead of trying to force derivative opinions without trying to find out the base of your beliefs.

Yeah, why would you play a killer that is mechanically trying to fight you and frustrate you the whole match? That's what Nurse is now. Not a test of your skill but paitence.

I don't like how people can just hop in lockers and he's forced to lose his power.
-
You can 4k at red ranks with any killer.
This doesn't make them good killers.
This has to do with the ranking system itself not judging on actual player skill, rather the longer you play the more and more likely you'd be at red ranks. Sure, Rank correlates with skill to a certain extent, but only to that. When you have the top Leatherface/Legion playing against the top SWF, you straight up don't have a chance to win more than 1 or two kills. The issue is not being able to perform at the very top, and the developers preferring to balance around regular players.
When you nerf say Nurse, the one top tier killer that can go against these steamrolling players while requiring a great amount of skill, practice, and most importantly prediction, you leave a bad taste in a player's mouth.
God knows I've had potato teammates at red ranks, so bad it makes you wonder why they're even there.
While I don't particularly think spirit's changes were bad, I think that the Legion and Nurse (basekit) rework were put into a real sorry state. Instead of addressing the problem with a meaningful solution, like how you could hold w and m1 with Legion and down people no matter what given enough time and now pretty much making him oscar the grouch tier. Or when you have what seems to be the majority of players who believe basekit Nurse was acceptable, but her addons were out of wack, then proceed to excessively nerf her basekit which then highly discourages prediction-based gameplay which punishes you to such an extent it becomes literally impossible to win on certain maps like Hawkins. Don't forget janky geometry and janky fatigues that were introduced after her rework.
These are what people are disgruntled about. I hope this helped you understand what people really are not happy about.

I just have to ask. What's the downside to BBQ, Pop Goes the Weasel, Make Your Choice, Dying Light(You could argue the downside is the obsession can heal better, and isn't affected, but the healing better barely comes into play, and not being affected isn't a downside, it's just not an upside), Spirit Fury + Enduring, Franklin's Demise(You can literally ignore a survivor offering with this), Haunted Grounds(I mean it's not perfect, but there's literally no downside to it and it's a free tier 3 Myers on any killer), etc?
For the first four perks, you have to hook a survivor. It isn't free, you have to work for it. What do you need to do to activate DS? Get unhooked and have 60 seconds of immunity. What about DH? You need to be injured and press E. Spirit Fury requires you to break two pallets, Haunted grounds is more of a mindgame if paired with ruin. In general killer perks require more effort to activate and gain use out of than survivor perks. And when you have 4 survivors that turns down a dark road real quick.

He had an addon rework a while back, around a year ago I think. Old windstorm used to give a speed boost after decloaking, but the made that part of his base kit.
There was a better version of old windstorm that was accessable via the purple windstorm. They gave him green. ;-;
-
For how long it takes him to get to, initiate, and arrive from teleporting he might as well be able to teleport to any portal without having to be on one in the first place. It's such a huge time waster to get to, dig in, and teleport to an area that often it's easier just to walk. Limit his amount of portals if need be, he's really slow anyway so it's not like it's going to be as powerful as mint rag. :/
-
I like my power not being dictated by survivors, rather my own skill. That's my reason for playing Nurse for 3+ years as opposed to other killers like Hag who can be bullied when against a reasonably good 4man. I also can't stand killers that need addons, like doc. Basekit Nurse has been my bread and butter, and pulling off those prediction blinks are some of the sweetest moments I've found in this game.
If I'm playing a killer that doesn't have a fighting chance at the top level of play, I can't say that the match results from that game truly dictate my level of play.
Not that I don't dabble in other killers, it's just what I like. Hope my perspective gave you a bit of insight. :D

So you consider that when because example:
Situation 1
A Wraith against 4 players plays without focusing, camp and kills only 1.
Situation 2
A Wraith against 4 players (SWF) plays by focusing, camper and finally by performing that action kills 3, the other one escapes.
Explain to me ..
What are you trying to point out? If it gets more kills without hacking it's fair game.
-
For me the issue with DS lies when every survivor has it. You cannot down a survivor off a hook for a minute, which depending on how fast you down can basically punish you for snowballing too hard. It changes how you play the game entirely and makes endgame unhooks basically free escapes.
