  • I've gotten this twice in a row playing the singularity. I lost two bloody party streamers too ;-;

  • Nurse kind of has a lot of indirect buffs mainly from perks synergizing with her. I'm not exactly on the side calling for massive nerfs nor the side saying she's "pErFeCtLy FiNe GiT gUd NuB!"

This is just my speculation, but I feel like just after her nerf people didn't realize the only thing that was meaningfully tuned down was extra chain blinks, and that range was still busted but it was "~nerfed so it's fine guyz!"

We haven't had a killer nearly as powerful as nurse (blight being one of the most recent) in a while. Especially with Sadako and Dredge being a bit subpar in terms of chase.

There's really a lot of factors that we probably don't know. If there's one thing I know the DBD community and the stock market has in common, it's that they're impossible to predict.

  • Isn't this due to latency? It's coded to be instant, but you can get the occasional 250ms delay. This is why many lunges at max distance seem like they shouldn't hit for survivor, but if you were to calculate it on the killer's end it would both look fine and calculate out to the real lunge distance.

  • The reason is latency. If you were to look at the killer's screen you would likely see them go into their chain blink phase and then hit immediately after they're done traveling through their blink. Since the survivor isn't right next to the killer physically that means that the survivor is going to see a delayed hit that ends up merging animations together and it looks bad this is a technical problem that as we get more technically advanced with our gaming is going to be a bigger and bigger problem.

  • It's been talked about right after her change. Here's an old thread I made in 2020 talking about it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/161188/is-omega-blink-really-fixed#latest

  • I feel like what oni needs is no buff to his power or addons (his addons are actually really good and nice imo) but a way to actually access his power without having to be an M1 killer. This is where the problem lies.

He cannot gain BF from passive recharge. He use to in his PTB, but now he needs at least 1 blood orb to do so.

An Idea would be to buff his passive recharge rate either neutral by a substantial amount (like gains power in 60-90 seconds) and allow passive recharge to fully fill the bar.

But a more interesting idea that lines up with lore really well would be he gains SIGNIFICANTLY faster recharge while chasing a survivor (and of course the ability to fully charge his bar with passive recharge). Say being in a chase for 45-60 seconds would be enough to charge his power up completely.

"The constant pre-drop of pallets feed into your anger. Gain X% faster recharge while chasing a survivor."

If need be even, lower the amount of power blood orbs gives by 25%. I think he needs to be able to get his power without needing to injure survivors.

  • You need to sacrifice the specific character I believe 25 times IN THE BASEMENT in order to get the masks.

Wiki says it's only sacrificing them 25 times.

This whole thing of nurse being hard to master is the biggest over exaggeration in Dead By Daylight history, you can learn how to blink in a day of playing her, in a week you'll be 3/4King most matches.

I think that's more a consequence of killers not being put against people of equal skill even at red ranks rather than her being easier than people think to learn. I gotta say, you see a ton of players in red ranks that simply don't belong, and when you're half decent at Nurse you easily can 4k.

But actually playing towards the top of the skill range takes much longer and a lot of experience at almost every tile to get a gist of what options the survivor has and what you have to predict by.

Though I think you're right in a way, to become proficient with her isn't as hard as people make it out to be, and I've played Nurse since she released. But her learning curve becomes a ton more steep when you are challenged on an equal skill-field.

  • Oni's blood orb addons essentially let him have his power the entire game, add nemesis+PWYF you have a fool-proof method of consistently getting your power.

Blight has his stuff right off the bat, but at the end of the day considering at least green addons I feel Oni is stronger.

I am still to find a good nurse I can only listen to the legend of how shes op but i've escaped against most nurses I've played against cause nurse has to guess where you are behind a wall and if they miss you can make some distance.

Part of the reason god-tier Nurses aren't very often seen is that they've simply moved on from DBD. She is the most buggy of the roster and the least cared about by the developers.

I've played maybe 5 matches of her in the past 6 months, and I haven't opened DBD in one and a half months.

Other killers are less buggy and more fun. Oni is one of my favorite killers in the game currently.

The way he dashes in itself is unique, but the overall power is not. He seems to be moderate-high skill, average reward. It's very punishing to use. Some number tweaks would do it a world of good. It is a shame that we have another Killer who lacks creativity, even though I do enjoy his look and lore. The art and lore design of the game is always getting better and more varied, yet the gameplay design is always lagging behind. I give them credit for Pyramid Head's caging mechanic, but that's about it. The last truly unique Killer we had was Plague, maybe Deathslinger but that's debatable.

In a game where movement is everything, powers that incorporate mobility are on average stronger than powers without. Pyramid head for example is strong in chase, but fails ultimately against equally skilled survivors due to having no mobility. Billy has arguably a slightly weaker chase than Pyri but makes up for that by being anywhere in a matter of seconds.

I think we shouldn't be sad about "hurr durr killur go fust" as long as the way it's done is creative and executed well. I for one praise more mobile killers coming to the roster.

  • Deactivate on locker and on generator repair, that's all that's really needed.

  • Don't know how this post got two replies and got buried. Deserves more upvotes.

  • If you did a quick google search, you'd find your answer much faster.

  • Considering most macs that have good enough GPU's to play DBD are priced in the $1k-$1.5k+, I don't think supporting MacOS would bring much of a playerbase and in turn monetary incentive.

    Don't get your hopes up.

Wait the new ranking system is live? I thought it was just the Killer lock system.

My first game last night had Survivors running into the walls multiple times. I couldn't tell if it because the game performance sucked or they were just that bad though.

I'm fairly sure the system is live.

  • @ad19970 said:

I mean the only thing you have to manage now in addittion to the chase is pressing your power button at the right time while he is chainsawing. It definitely takes some practice, but I think that's fair when considering how much he got buffed. He's much stronger now, so he shouldn't be as easy to use as he was before his nerf.

My view is that if it was just needing to look at the bar, it wouldn't be that bad. But bubba has to pay extra attention to geometry lest he gets a terribly long tantrum.

He already needs to pay attention to geometry, so should he need to look at a gauge too?

  • If it's run in a 4stack, perhaps with one or two OoO, that's probably going to be the most consistently strong build in the game.

  • Believe it or not they changed Hag's break animation so that she couldn't see where survivors run after tossing the pallet. It use to be a much more cute slap.

  • I built one that did 60fps in 75% resolution for 200 a few years ago. Get an old office pc and slap in a 1650 or something that doesn't require a power connector and you're set.

Gotta make sure the form factor of the case is right though.

Anyone who's ever used PWYF knows just how big a deal even 5% movement speed is. This is NEVER gonna be a thing without some sort of huge downside or buildup.

That's why there's a wide berth so that you can implement these types of perks in many different ways. Remember we can use some form of teleportation to stationary objects (say lockers or gens).

It doesn't have to be movement speed, but if it was it would have to have major drawbacks, this I think everyone understands.

  • @YaiPa said:

"will run chase perks to substitute the killer's lack of chase potential." band-aid fix, we have plenty in this game, bloodlust, bamboozle, ruin and so on. We should integrate into the killer's role the chance to give actual map pressure and chase potential, not being tied to perks.

In an ideal world, every killer has some form of mobility that isn't just w key at 115%

But we're talking about a new form of perks, the issue of killers not having it base is a different discussion.

  • @walrusthemighty said:

For a casual game with no competitive scene, meaning there is no reason not to try and tweak the numbers or effects every so often, they are being extremely slow and careful for no reason. As it was mentioned by Throwaway123, they only had 20 perks worked on for the past year, which is unacceptably slow in my opinion. There is no risk playing around with perks and trying new things.

There is a competitive scene, even though it's small.

It's just that no one seems to know about it.

The Dead by Daylight League has been around since summer 2018, and it's still going strong with tons of fantastic players duking it out every season.

  • Played Nurse since she released, 2k hours in the game total. Won a few tournaments with her worth some good money, so she paid for herself and the game pretty easily.

    image.png

I've her maxed and usually like using a variation of this build. I've never liked running addons for personal reasons, so I don't usually run any on almost anyone.

    image.png

It's hard to really find the "best" Nurse build. You can't really go wrong with many perks, it just depends on your play style.

When I'm not playing her it's a mix of Oni, Hag, Demo, Plague, Wraith, and LF I guess.

Yeah, but most people don't want to go through that learning process, thus they "spam" the ability. They use add ons like recharge power or charge rate like Billy has now, because they can't deal with downsides of using their power. It's evident by how people would constantly spam omega blink and 5 blink Nurse before she got nerfed, or how Billy currently gets to use his boring instasaw add ons which are getting trashed soon.

And no, PH does not "spam" his attack "with no thought put into it and no punishment." IDK if you've ever played PH but missing his ability has a hefty cooldown, like "Nurse double blinking into a missed attack" sort of hefty.

I'm not even claiming that this is all super important -- I really couldn't care less about this whole "definitions" thing personally, but I just figure that's probably what most people mean by "spamming." Whether or not it's a smart use of the word, I can imagine what it might be referring to. I mean anybody who went against a 5 blink Nurse back then definitely knows what spamming is.

I think you misunderstood me when I was talking about pyramid head.

given a survivor is unable to run elsewhere

I'm talking about you're in a classroom on midwich and if you left a tile, you'd be hit, so you keep looking around a dropped pallet until he inevitably downs you. Thus, spam.

I agree with you on using the addons to make up for the learning the intricacies of powers. Nurse with 5 blinks was indeed stupid and worth the title of spam. But I don't think Nurse is applicable by the same definition in her current state which is where I've seen the phrase most used.

I know it's a bit off topic and many already agree (and I think you do as well) that in the cases where spam was an issue, it was addons. But we all know what happens when addons are the problem and the devs go to fix it.

Just wanted to thank you for being my hypothetical debate opponent. It's nice being able to have a few points being brought up even when you're just stepping in for a perspective you don't share.

  • @Huff said:

"Spamming" blinks is probably just what it sounds like. IDK how those people are using it, but I would imagine the same thing as if Billy is "spamming" his chainsaw. Just using the power willy nilly with no regard for how it's actually being done, and rather just trying to brute force it. I would imagine it's being used to refer to Nurses who aren't good at playing Nurse, and therefore have to resort in using brute force and the most blinks over time possible just to get their hits. Just like 5 blink Nurse used to exist. As for the comparison to Billy, his "spamming" would be just using chainsaw after chainsaw after chainsaw even if you're just constantly missing.

It's slightly different right now because Nurse can't necessarily "spam" her ability because she has that cooldown in between now. Billy can just still kinda endlessly use his chainsaw in a brainless way, but that's getting changed soon too.

You bring up a point that I'd like to discuss on, when you say

"spamming" would be just using chainsaw after chainsaw after chainsaw even if you're just constantly missing.

If you're billy and you're constantly revving at every opportunity, you're bound to lose chases due to simply being outplayed because you've chosen the wrong time to saw. Same kinda goes with Nurse, if you're in a chase (Not gonna talk about traversal in this case) and you're blinking at every chance and not doing it methodically, you're going to be in a longer chase than you would have if you manually set yourself straight. Through this process you get better with the respective power, ultimately finding out when and where is it a good idea to blink/saw.

It's apart of the learning process because you will fail unless you adapt, unlike say Pyramid Head who can, yes, spam an attack until it hits at random, with no thought put into it and no punishment for missing given a survivor is unable to run elsewhere. I don't think spamming should be an adjective applied to either killer in the big picture.

  • @Momentosis said:

Who's complaining about Nurse spamming blinks?

  • @TrappinMan said:

So, multiple prestiges as a bar for entry means that no one will ever play it. Most players will only prestige one character for the achievement, much less one per side. Then you have a banning system which if I'm understanding you correctly means the survivors can block off killers they don't want to see which will be the strongest ones, and then ban perks on top of that, so the killers they do see won't have perks that can really help their playstyle. There is no need for an alternating between killer and survivor banning, as they don't pull from the same pool, most games that feature a system like this have bans all coming from a common pool like champions that both sides can use, thus the alternating picks.

Then we get down to the meat of competitive mode, what defines a win. Does a survivor win if they escape? Do they only win if they get a double pip? Does the killer win for a 4k, or does he win for a merciless? What defines a competitive map? All the maps right now are designed for casual play. People can't even agree on what maps are survivor sided versus killer sided, and then you have killers who just do poorly on certain maps or survivors with cosmetics basically blending in.

And finally, what is even the point? Do you get more bp? Rift xp? Account xp? Are there seasonal rewards? You're causing longer queue times since there are now 2 queues, and even if this only appeals to 10% of players, that's 10% less in the main queue. It essentially splits the player base with the only variant being that survivors might not DS you, and you won't be facing iri Mori huntress.

I'll even pitch you a sample setup, presuming all survivors get to ban 1 killer, and 1 perk, while the killer gets to ban 6 perks to compensate for the killer bans.

    Banned killers:

    Huntress

    Freddy

    Spirit

    Nurse

    Banned killer perks:

    Noed

    Play With Your Food

    Bbq

    Infectious Fright

    Banned Survivor perks:

    DS

    BT

    DH

    Unbreakable

    Spine Chill

    Adrenaline

You might expect the perks and killers to change slightly game to game, ie switching Huntress for Billy since she won't have instadown due to no red or purple add ons, or swapping bbq for Devour Hope so we never have to do bones, or a killer planning to never slug swapping Unbreakable for Balanced Landing.

Tl;dr: It's a mess that will expand queue times for very little reward, and very samey games full of sweat lords.

While his execution could be worked on, I think your last statement is a really good reason for having a comp mode. You get the people who play to win in one place instead of scattered in regular matchmaking.

Personally I'm all for a comp mode. There's certainly enough players for it, and if you don't want to play to win you can choose to play casual.

  • @Kind_Lemon said:

Yeah, the method in which power bars and cooldowns have been introduced recently is not cool.

Perhaps you don't agree, but why does Pyramid Head have a recharge gauge on his power? It's not like instantly refilling the entire gauge is going to give any players any benefit past annoyance relief. Players only use his power in small bursts anyway unless they just want to draw lines and not participate in the rest of the game.

I am inclined to agree with you on why does Pyramid Head have a power bar. He has a limit on the amount of trails that can exist on the map, and the power bar doesn't affect him being able to use his ranged attack since even at 1% you can activate the power and click to hit.

    It's just weird.

  • @Trwth said:

I don’t really understand the issue with power bars. There’s nothing bad about them. Killers like Oni and Plague have them because their secondary power is more-or-less an “ultimate” ability that would be too strong without a power bar. That’s what “snowballing” is.

That’s exactly not how Billy’s power bar works. It’s more Pyramid Head’s Rites of Judgement if anything. Like, “you can do this, but can’t do it forever.” It’s (appears to be) less of a hinderance than a bazillion other people are making it out to be. If it overheats, then it overheats. However, if it’s gonna have a cooldown, it shouldn’t be super long unless there’s a way to stop and ventilate it or something. This 18 seconds I’m hearing about is pretty long...

I agree with you, there isn't anything wrong with powerbars in themselves. As I said in the post, they allow the devs to implement a power that would be too strong base into the game without it being too overwhelming. Oni is a perfect example of it.

The thing is they are putting it on powers that really aren't at that level of power. I get what you're saying when you say "you can't use it forever", but billy does need to be able to rev his chainsaw for a long period of time due to needing to mindgame/curve on certain tiles. They diverted resources into something that most people (even the devs themselves said they were happy with billy) are fine with the current state. His addons for sure caused some issues, like engravings. If they stuck to the main problem and not have tried to over correct there would be far less outcry than what there is currently.

Powerbars have a time and a place, but I don't believe billy is one of those.

  • @YaiPa said:

they're trying to omologate every killer, so that baby players don't get too confused (for example they changed Myers T1 not being detected by spine chill). When they nerfed nurse it was obvious how they would have nerfed billy. I'm just happy they didn't slapped a 20 seconds cooldown after you land a chainsaw, which it was my biggest fear.

It could've been worse, but I wish they'd stop overdoing most of their changes and focus on what is the real issue at heart.

  • What people are complaining about is the developers going above and beyond in the wrong way. Ultimately they wanted to look at his addons, which in some cases are a bit too much. Instead now they did something unneeded. Who asked for yet another powerbar?

We won't know how it will play out until live, but I'd assume it would have more of an effect than we realize currently.

Unless you're a really good nurse, or if you're a hag and the OoO gets near/steps on a trap, you'll NEVER get him in this map. It isn't about being good at chases, is just the architecture of the map that screws you over. Scott called it one or two days after the map release I think...

Hag can't get a hit if the player pops her trap at the very edge and starts running. They are guaranteed to make it to a pallet.

Just tunnel the OoO user out the game. Problem solved

Even then it isn't a surefire way to get a handle on the game. Often if you aren't pressuring gens against the swf they will rush the heck out of you and you will likely lose any chance of getting more than a 1k even with Nurse (given you aren't on a really good map, like say you're stuck on badham) and even then unless you built your build around securing that kill (which you most likely won't have) DS and BT are present and you will have little chance of securing it.

Just a little info that I know what I'm talking about, played Nurse since her release and have participated and won many tournaments (SpaceEsports multiple 150$ tourneys, Tyde's 750$ tourney). I'm not some joe schmo.

  • Honestly, they do tend to focus on survivors when it comes to bug fixes. Look at Nurse, it's been close to a year and every match without fail there is at least one bug which ranges in detriment to my match. From the chain blink click not playing at the right time to stuns while blinking having you fatigue instead of be stunned and you're moving at full speed while looking at the ground. Or the infinite blink bug where the sound replays the first bit of the charge and the hand looks wrong. Not to mention latency being an issue for her.

    It's just not their priority.

Pyramid Head does need buffs. I've been playing him since release and well....his Range power is completely useless.

Many of the entrances (Especially those in the courtyard) are deadzones for her blink. While it's not the worst, it's far from the best.

  • 1440p 16:9 everything looks chonky as well.

  • To the people talking about him being able to utilize IF and being able to down players as fast as the high tier killers, I'm sorry but that is not at all true. Pyri has no movement bonuses whatsoever. He can never be faster than 115%, which means he can not snowball fast enough for it to matter. The closest to that you could get on him is to run antiheal and do your best to keep everyone injured then use IF to snowball, which is still outclassed by pretty much every other killer better than him. I'd even say Demo uses IF better.
