Why is this a problem? The reason I don't see this as a problem is because I don't see enough people playing Nurse in general, especially with Omega Blink

    Is it powerful? Yes

    Is it the same? No

Nurse has by far the highest skill cap, and rather boring if I do say so myself (no offense). It doesn't really attract a lot of players, especially new players and veterans stay away from her unless they like a challenge / feel like playing nurse. She is really stressful to play as.

I'm not saying it is a problem, like you said not enough people are using it.

"Honestly, the only thing the devs accomplished with the Nurse rework in my eyes was removing 3+ blinks. Everything else was just a jumbled mess."

This was the main point in my post.

  • @ytduh said:

i can't see any point in this video

this guy basically 15ranked play in korea or japan if he not played on console i would surprised

We're talking about the stats of the addons, I know he's not good at the Nurse at all.

    But he's got datamined numbers.

  • I know this is by far an unpopular opinion, but the truest way to address SWF in my eyes is to bring voicechat (only if you have the ability to mute certain players and turn it off all together) and balance the game around that. But this game has been communication limited from the start, so unless there is a real push for it (and there won't be) it just won't happen.

  • Nurse can not be stunned mid blink. This could've been the case for you, but if you are 100% sure that she was not blinking, then there is an issue.

I've been hit with Head On as Nurse several times, so I haven't experienced your issue.

  • I dunno. Pc player here and I played her since her release and now she seems to not hit as far as I'm use to. It cpuld just be latency is better but idk.

  • It's really frustrating that I can't go a game without being bugged to hell.

  • @darklinger said:

Yes. She can't spam without blink addons more. No need recharge for nurse now or atleast make recharge faster

The blink spam argument always caught me off guard.

The Nurse cannot catch up to survivors because she is slower than them, so her blink is the ONLY way to down survivors. Applying spamming to this scenario is in a way similar to saying a 115% killer is spamming w to move at a survivor.

  • I'd vy that OoO on a competent survivor is Hag's real problem. Given if you can see the radius with the particles, a survivor can run an excess of 32m if the hag teleports the frame she pops the trap before getting hit.. This pretty much makes it a guarantee that a survivor can make it to a safe area. I tested this myself and made a video of it.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPid20Wo2Lw

  • What @BumBumOReily said for the most part. I'd say Whispers, BBQ, and Corrupt Intervention can be interchangable.

Stridor really is a perk you should run 100% of the time on Spirit. Being able to hear injured survivors is just all that much more powerful.

144 FPS isn't recommended because of the Server Tickrate. Go for 120 FPS if you can constantly obtain it.

    In the Engine.ini:

    [/Script/Engine.Engine]

    bSmoothFrameRate=False

    in GameUserSettings:

    bUseVSync=False

    FrameRateLimit=120.000000

Oh my god you are my savior. I thought that since they didn't allow people to edit the ini files this fix didn't work. Thank you so much!

So because you cannot find them, which is part of a Killer's job, and they are hiding, which is part of a survivor's job, the game should automatically kill them after a while? πŸ˜‚ Nah fam. Report them and move on.

I don't think you understand what my point is. It is not healthy that any number of survivors can hide indefinitely not doing anything and forcing a killer to either DC or get lucky finding someone. You know how the Yamoaka maps are, without whispers if a survivor doesn't want to be found, they won't be.

All I'm asking is a solution for this issue. Yet you seem to think I mean otherwise.

  • @LALYTHIA said:

Maybe camping the hatch is their escape strategy. There is ZERO reason why Killers need any additional methods to get free kills given the implementation of EGC and hatch changes. LOL Again, report them and move on.

I don't think just reporting is a solution to thus issue. I don't believe I ever said that this was the only solution either. But don't you think it's a bit asinine that unless a killer has some form of tracking perk, a group of survivors can hide and do practically nothing, forcing the killer to either get lucky finding them, or dc because they have ni way of finding survivors. With maps like Oni's this is just ludicrous.

  • @Entity_Hugs said:

Report them after the match. If they are not playing their objectives for a long period of time, it's considered taking the game hostage, which is reportable.

Honestly, a timer would suck. Then a Killer would not even have to kill people to win, just wait out the clock.

Wouldn't that give incentive for survivors to, do the objective? :/

  • With the iteration of DS before this one, the obsession was the only one who could use it immediately on pickup, people who had it as well but were not obsession had to struggle to ~35% in order to get the skillcheck.

Let's not forget that you could dribble.

Now how it works is that no matter what, if a survivor runs into a locker with DS active, you as a killer have to either eat DS and likely prolong the chase by another 20-30sec depending on what killer you are, or you leave a survivor healthy because you're wasting time camping them out. The killer won the chase, so at the very least he should be able to decide whether to slug or not. Hopping in a locker is not skillful.

If DS was changed to not being allowed to work on lockers, that would make it a fair perk and weaker then it's previous iteration. Ultimately that in my opinion is the biggest issue with DS.

  • Don't buy within the ingame store. If you wanted to family share and start a new account you won't get the chars you bought ingame.

  • The only true way to address SWF without taking it out of the game is to give voicecomms to everyone. And before you berate me, you would obviously have the ability to mute certain people or turn it off completely.

This lets us finally balance killers against swf instead of somewhere in the middle of solo & swf without leaving solo's in the dust.

It really is the only simple way to deal with the gap.

That just sounds like a fun time ;]

  • Always. Play however you see fit.

Not like you aren't going to get complaints even if you don't tunnel anyway. People will find a reason to moan if they feel like it.

I mean I dont regret the fun times I had in the game, but that doesnt mean that I should keep playing a game that is getting consistently less fun with every patch so why should I keep playing while the game is in such a horrible state.

I'm not telling you to keep on playing the game if you don't like it. I thought I made it clear that people shouldn't be telling other people to quit if they don't like something. That was the entire point.

How about they give us some of the conditions for the new mmr? They've stated they had rolled it out during 3.5, and that it allowed them to gather some preliminary data.

  • Only if you want a 6ft 2 man dressing up as Nurse.

  • They've never given us what the parameters for it are, so whether it's skill-based is entirely unknown.

What are you trying to say, exactly? Maybe the reason so many people are misunderstanding your point is because you didn't communicate it as clearly as you meant to in your original post. Because it certainly came across like you were saying people shouldn't be expected to stop playing the game even if they're not enjoying it, just because they've invested in it previously.

After rereading my post, I did have a sentence that made my point unclear. I have since edited it (last paragraph) to better represent what I am trying to put across. Sorry for the confusion. What I am trying to say is that it is not a productive way of talking to someone who is taking issue with the game. People shouldn't be telling others to stop playing if they take issue with certain aspects of it or the path it is going down.

    @Financial_Stability

First off, I’d like to note that I’m not telling anyone to quit if something upsets them.

And I can see now that upon re-reading, I misread and misunderstood your point.

I thought you meant that people shouldn’t allowed to tell others to not pick up DBD, as in like an anti-recommendation.

    β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

I can perfectly understand why someone wouldn’t want to lose their hobby.

I have about 900 hours on the game, so I get why someone would want to improve the game when it’s going down hill, rather than just jump ship. That’s the entire reason I even have a forum account.

    β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

So I’m sorry @Financial_Stability, that’s entirely my bad and on me.

Bro I can't ask for anything more. You went above and beyond and I'm actually surprised. You have my reapect.

  • @illusion said:

If you expect someone to just drop DBD if they don't like it, you're willfully ignoring these investments players have made. I urge you to stop this line of reasoning, as it is utterly and entirely unrealistic.

If you are unhappy, you should drop it. It is nothing like a stock investment. It's a game. If you invested hundreds or thousands of hours into it, it was because you enjoyed playing it. If that is no longer the case, it is best to move on. Why would anyone want to keep playing something they no longer find fun? That would really be wasting time you will never get back. There are hundreds of games out there to be played. Attatching yourself to one specific game HOPING that it will eventually become fun for you again, would be insane. They can always check back in the future to see if things have improved.

You too are misunderatanding my point entirely. One can still enjoy the game while taking issue with some aspects of it. We aren't talking about people who aren't having any fun anymore. We're talkimg about people who tell othera to atop playing if they have an issue with something, and I'm trying to explain why that's a very unproductive thing to say.

  • @Fibijean said:

If we're going to use economic metaphors, maybe we should talk about the sunk cost fallacy.

It's okay to want something you've invested in to succeed. That's perfectly natural. But the mere fact that you've invested in it doesn't mean you should stick with it.

You shouldn't continue to invest money in a failing endeavour just because of how much you've already invested in it, and you shouldn't continue to play a game that makes you miserable just because you've already poured a lot of time and money into it.

It is, as the name implies, a logical fallacy. That's the point people who follow that line of reasoning are trying to make.

I'm not discussing whether or not people should drop the game or not. This is about people who tell others to drop the game if there is something they don't like. They may still find the game enjoyable, so if they have some way to try and remedy that issue (say posting on the forums) then that would be the logical course. I'm not saying people won't drop the game. I wish that there wasn't so many people misunderstanding what I am saying.

  • @ModernFable said:

Save for the tiny minority of people that built their careers around this game, no.

    β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

People devote thousands of hours to many things: sports, tv shows, comics, and of course games.

But games aren’t some kind of stock that gains value just because you’ve played it a lot.

Nor is it something that just because you stop β€œinvesting” in it, suddenly becomes worthless.

    β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

    Games are experiences.

Generally used for casual fun and memories with friends. Those are irreplaceable, and not something that will be lost just because you don’t like the game anymore or don’t recommend it.

Either you are missing my point or you disagree with it on a more fundamental level.

If someone invests time into something they enjoy, they don't think of it as memories and experiences. That is making it look like something someone has already parted with and passed on. It is something you actively enjoy. It's a hobby that you could perhaps put a ton of effort and love into. You tell someone to leave because they don't like something, you're ignoring all those hours they've spent playing, learning, getting involved with the community.

So they're gonna just drop it at the hat like that? No! What about children? You nurture them without any real incentive or promise of incentive (of course we're talking about a game, but there are parallels that are undeniable). Can you ask a parent to just give up their baby for adoption because they don't like how (insert annoying baby trait)? No. They've invested too much already.

Time is something you don't get back. I don't know how many hours you have in game, but if I told you to just stop playing if you don't like something, that wouldn't be proper logic. You have your personal investment, as do I. From what I'm reading, you're response is only about moving on.

Games give experiences, games create memories. But why are you looking at it from an angle of someone who's already moved on and not at all attached to the game currently?

  • As long as there's a visible cooldown bar, you're golden!

Hey, while we're at it, let's pause how long it takes a killer to be able to walk after a swing to 10 seconds. Make sure there's a bar!

By not following the forum rules https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/87004/forum-rules

I think a lot of warnings at least are given out for "making light of serious issues" (see the rules), but I expect a lot of bans come from getting into a heated argument with another forum member. You'll notice a lot of disrespectful and derogatory posts that lack anything constructive, or one member specifically targeting another member and "calling them out" for whatever reason (which is a no-no, even if you're right). Accusing a member of anything publicly isn't taken well; if you think they're posting bait, ignore it; if you think they're using an alt account, flag it; use the official means to report cheaters; etc.

Yeah, calling out a mod per se was probably the main reason I was jailed. Though only through an image, not calling them out in the text. Had to do with that thread about looking at the root problem of why 80% of killers use ruin instead of nerfing the perk. I had spoken about how a dev had commented in it but completely not addressing the post itself. Was responding to something along the lines of "well not everyone can play like [insert popular streamer]" Dev: "Yes"

And of course a bit of vulgarity, though never calling say someone a butthat.

  • In specific circumstances like indoor maps and without the use of OoO, she can contend with the best at the highest level of play. Seen it in my experience in tournaments and such. Though she is strong, get a team well versed in Hag mindgames and the use of OoO and you barely stand a chance at all.

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/976257#Comment_976257

Naturally. But if that's the case, those who can't play at a high level will derank to a place where they're more comfortable. That is the point of a ranking system, after all.

Imagine commenting in a forum post directed at you but not addressing the OP's complaints.

    Nice.

  • @Peanits said:

I would definitely say give it a try first. Having played around with it, it can be pretty nasty once you get some pressure. Combine it with Surveillance and you also get some outrageous tracking (since generators automatically regress). You'll always know which generators are being worked on.

Do me a favor and help me with this thought experiment.

The reason for ruin being nerfed and doc being arguably weaker than his current state is because survivors were too annoyed by said perk and killer. AKA change.

Now, we have post-nerf nurse, whom many people are quite unhappy with due to her mechanical feel being completely annoying. AKA no change.

    :|

  • Lemme just pull out that pool chair for the survivors and hand them a pina colada while I'm at it.

What? You wanted pineapple in it? I'm so sorry. lemme just nerf myself real quick.

  • I still don't understand why people think the locker DS tech is OK. Just let me have that gone because that is complete BS. Heck if you're interacting with something like a gen you should forfeit DS.

  • I'd rather not remove the skill that learning blink ranges gives. Personally just see that as a good thing.

Blink cancel might be something if implemented correctly, since now after the addtition of the cooldown if she so much as presses M2 she has to blink no matter what.

The issue with her skillgap widening lies in the addition of the cooldown. Already you need to have a prediction level so high to be able to keep up with survivors as Nurse, so when new players try to read players and do their predictions, and because they are new they will fail so many times before they start to succeed, you punish them even harder with extra cooldown. This is why the learning curve just spiked with her rework.

Not that I have any hope these devs will rectify the situation correctly. Afterall, wasted resources is wasted money. Plus it seems they are quite happy with their work.

I don't get it, they don't want to balance for high level play, yet they actively nerf something because the people at the highest level were too good by their standards. Pick a side goddamn it.

  • Bow and arrow killer, or just anything that requires a high level of skill like the level of Huntress or Nurse require.

  • People don't seem to notice that sometimes gen tapping if done right isn't that dumb of an idea in certain situations. The thing is you can hold on a generator for just under a second and not be hit with a skillcheck, and if you can get the delay between not working on the gen to working on it to sub 25ms, it saves more time than it wastes compared to missing even one ruin skillcheck. I've been able to get the delay to basically a single frame out of 144 (I run 144hz)

I'll say that most people probably don't know this and do it the dumb way, so bleh.

  • I remember there being a discussion of a Japanese CM that stated only the killer's rank was taken into account. Can you clarify that these statistics represent matches where both the killer and all 4 survivors are of red rank?

  • @Hopesfall said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/927813#Comment_927813

i started running it on doc with pop, just to be irritating

seen lots of explosions even at rank 1 :P

I mean, you have to go and actively kick tons of generators constantly to be getting proficient use out of it. At most you're getting a few extra seconds of that generator being done, so if you waste time actively kicking gens, which is a 2 second animation, you would be wasting a ton of time that many killers don't really have.

  • @Hopesfall said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/927770#Comment_927770

it's pretty decent on doctor if you put the survivors in tier 2.. the skill check can be off center and then it's pretty much a failed check

I mean it has it's niche uses, but even then there'd be perks I'd rather run for Doc.

  • Though no one really holds it to any high regard, people tend to rate overcharge higher than what it really is.

The perk is so bad for what it does. SOOO bad.

  • This really is something if what that Japanese CM said is true. Why would they even give us stats knowing full well that it's misleading as fudgesickles.

Both are true. The only people who suffered when Nurse was changed were people who relied on that which was theoretically broken, or her addons.

OG Nurse players (like Marth, tru3, Ardetha) adapted just fine. They only ever needed 2 blinks, and never used additional blink addons.

I'm talking about the argument. Not whether or not it is or isn't. Simply saying those who're good with said character are fine without factual backing is a logical fallacy. Since the update has only been out about an hour or two, there is limited evidence from said good players still doing good. The real test, in my opinion of course, of if a killer is good or not is when they have a decent chance to combat high level SWF given the player himself is of high level himself. By high level I mean skill, not rank.

1 2 3 4 … 7
