I'm rank 2 and I have no idea how I got there. I am not very skilled and I just play for fun.
(I think the rank system... especially for survivor needs to be looked at).
I will admit... with shame in my heart... I tap gens from time to time.
I will de-pip to purple ranks now...

Also no more booping the snoot
That... is too far... if we do not boop snoot how do we appease our piggy goddess?
SNOOT MUST ALSO BE BOOPED!

Just because it's called a ranked mode doesn't mean you can't have a little fun.
No fun, only tactical precise play is allowed. Fun is for toxic people ;)
We better stop the butt dance greeting too. Big waste of time!

Bhvr can have really absurd reasoning at times.
Like the whole making perks for solos and for swf is stupid and is a waste of their time and resources to do, when they can just have everyone have the CHOICE of joining in game voice coms. Solving the whole bullshit with swf having perks for free and killers having crazy swingy inconsistent matches because solos take twice as long to do things. And also lighten the chances of killers dodging survivors because solos and swfs would play relatively similar to each other if htye can just communicate.
regardless on what's being discussed on is a positive or a negative thing, trying to talk to them about anything swf related is like talking to a wall.
Yes...I wish they would add voice chat. It would end this tiresome debate once and for all. Of course give people the option to mute it ^^ I play better solo because I find coms distracting.
-
For killers I would go for BBQ & Ruin first.
For survivor I would level Claudette and Meg.
When you get surveillance, keep it at level 1!

Yeah then the killer has NO chance of killing the survivor and quite frankly the killer has to do all the work to get to one survivor in EGC so if it's going to favor one side it should be the killer. I don't know why this is so hard for some of you to understand. If it's get to the 2 gates and there's only one survivor they have already messed up 10 times if you don't account for moris. That's just accounting for lives if you account for bad plays they've messed up even more than that generally speaking .
They even get a chance at a free escape if they do nothing called the hatch. If you find it that's another chance they lost. But if they have a key it's not even lost.
I fail to see the logic in y'all's reasoning.
Well you have a suiting name.
I wasn't arguing that 'survivors have the right to always escape', I was just agreeing with OP that it is a blah situation.
As a killer it always makes me feel bad when this happens. It is horrible luck for the survivor. Kind of feels like kicking someone when they are already down, you know?
-
Yah, as a Killer or Survivor this situation is not fun.
The gates should spawn across from one another, or at least not on the same wall.
-
@Plaquer said:
Preventing tunneling isn't the killer's responsibility, it is the rescuer's responsibility, the rescuer is responsible for taking aggro and letting the unhooked survivor recover, if you both hide, chances are the killer is only going to find the injured person since they are easier to track and are at their weakest. Don't act like its the killer's fault if they can only find the unhooked survivor.
100% this.
If you go for an unhook and the killer is within 30m... take the aggro. Point. Take a hit. Anything!
Yes Tunneling can be abused, but survivors also need to take responsibility for their poor plays.
-
Or, I know people hate hearing this, how about we just use perks that pretty much do 80% of what you are asking for?
- being chased (I think this is something a most people have asked for) - Bond + Obsession has a chase indicator so there is that.
- repairing a generator - Better Together or Bond
- healing or being healed - Empathy, Bond, Aftercare
- cleansing a hex totem - Bond or Aftercare. Maybe a cool idea for a future survivor perk. Something like see the aura of you teammates whenever they perform an action?
Open Handed and Kindred will also provide all this information from time to time.
2) A bar under the icons showing how much a survivor has wiggled when being carried by the killer and seeing the aura of the closest hook to the killer when they're carrying a survivor.
Maps let you see hooks. As for the wiggle bar that could be a cool buff to Break Out- Fun idea :)
3) A token or number next to the icons showing what hook state a survivor is at.
I mean, this one is pretty easy to track on your own and isn't something exclusive to swf.
If people really want all this information, the game already provides it. I always have Bond on because of all the information I get from it.
As a red rank solo survivor I don't think there is any gap to close, and at the end of the day if you want swf benefits then just play swf. There are a ton of resources out there, including this very website, that helps you find people to play with.
-
I see what you're saying, but my competitive spirit wants this game more difficult and less hand hold-y ^^ Balance around red ranks is what I want. However I know a lot of people would like your ideas :)
I would LOVE a casual mode and rank mode. Casual would very much be what you mentioned above! Rank then could be even more challenging then it is now.
Not sure if having two modes is possible since there is already an issue with lobby times.

Because I want to know, why is that such a big problem? There must be a reason, no one ever cuts me that kind of slack. So what's the difference?
I let people go for a number of reasons.
They are playing my fav survivors.
They played a good match.
Everyone else DC.
They ask for mercy.
They are simply the last one standing.
Heck if I'm Pig and you boop my snoot you go free!
People who don't go free are flashlight clickers, butt dancers, and OoO users. You all go to the entity!
Everyone has their own reasons to spare the last survivor. At the end of the day it doesn't matter much does it?
-
Things that are toxic:
Using exploits (like the sprint burst one or infinite mend legion).
DC in mid match because the game isn't going your way (yay new DC penalties).
Working with the killer and calling out your own teammates.
Anything else is fair game. I know people don't like body blocking, camping, slugging, stuns, etc but that is just part of the game ^^
-
I can't wait for it to be on PS4!
It is funny how many people are crying that they shouldn't be punished for bugs and crashes. Really? You DC 5+ times because of bugs and crashes in a day? I call BS.
If people didn't abuse the game in the first place we wouldn't need these penalties. Its sad... but I have my games ruined multiple times a night from people DCing because they got hit ONCE or hooked ONCE. Heck, Killers DC as soon as Ruin is blow. It is very frustrating when one person has a tantrum and ruins the game for 4 others...
My games ruined by crashes or bugs are far and few between. The problem is people's behaviour, not the game.
Edit: As a side note someone mentioned in another discussion a 'rejoin match' option for those who do DC unintentionally. Not sure how difficult it would be to add but it help people avoid the penalty when they didn't mean to leave.
-
I like that they took it away. People get pre-conceived notions by a silly number and dodge a perfectly good lobby because 'rank x is bad'.
How do you know if someone is an immersive player by their rank? It is the same as assuming a survivor is toxic because they play a certain character in a certain outfit. Its ridiculous.
My friends drop rank all the time because they are too busy with life to play all the time, but when they do they are amazing ^^ Much better then me! However we had people dodging us because they saw me, and rank 3, and a friend, Rank 10.
Wait times are bad enough as they are, we don't need people dodging for made up reasons.
-
I would also like to see less chapters and more work on new mechanics, maps, perk changes, and killer changes. Not that I don't enjoy the chapters, but @arslaN is right. The game feels too bloated right now. Too many useless perks no one ever uses, too many killers with similar powers, or killers that are forgotten about because they are simply outshined by stronger more viable options.
However at this point I feel like a DBD 2 would be in order instead of overhauling the game as it is now. Maybe that is in the grand plan somewhere ^^

Back in the day there was an unsaid "social contract" that when you agreed to play a game with a group of people you would play and finish said game. Those that quit were seen as.....jerks. If you landed on Boardwalk while playing Monopoly you couldn't get away with quitting and starting a new game because no one would play with you. Now it seems as though quitting is an entitlement that every player reserves the right to use at any time a game isn't going their way, even though it ruins the game for the rest of the players. I still see it as a selfish move
100% this.
The issue isn't the game, it is people with toxic poor sport attitudes and that is why we need harsher DC penalties.
All these excuses to why DCing is okay is sad.
-
This always sucks but just look on the bright side, your team got out!
Never send salty or angry messages. You are just feeding those people and damning yourself. Why else do you think their messages are open?
You can't take action against him, but you can remember their user name and just dodge the lobby if you see them again ^^
Hope you have more positive matches!

True, but when you factor in all the things someone could get punished for - crashes, connection issues, games being held hostage... five DCs in one day isn't really that much.
Crashes and connection issues are minimal for me (1 or 2 a week).
That is just my experience though on ps4.
As for games being held hostage that is rare for me also. How many times doe that happen to everyone else? Maybe once every few months for me and I just report the jerk and move on.

Not really. First DC is 1 minute, second is 5 minutes, third is 15 minutes, fourth is 1 hour, fifth is 6 hours.
I mean, 5 DC within a day is excessive. The general player base shouldn't have an issue with it.
Its good to know 1-2 DC is minimal time.

I see, in my personal opinion the punishments are a little too extreme. Honestly if it goes higher than 24 hours that's pretty spook because it's probably a week o.o
Do we know how many DCs it takes to get to the 6 hour ban?
I am sure you have to do a lot of DC to reach that point.
-
Nope. I ran it for awhile when it got changed but my teammates as whole are great. I don't need it.
I'm rank 3 tho so I am playing with people who know what they are doing.
-
Not a strat.
When its two people left I will find hatch with them and then bait the killer away and die on hook.
This is the way.
-
If slugging wasn't encouraged, sure. It is however and is part of the game. You can't punish people for playing how they want.
-
This would be a cool idea. Maybe like overwatch where they have 3 min to rejoin match?
-
This game needs a stronger DC ban and I am happy they are testing it out.
Yes there are bug that ruin matches, but they are far and few between. If you get stuck in a rock, for example, and don't want to wait it out. DC and take the 60 sec penalty. No big deal. It doesn't effect you at all.
This new ban system is suppose to effect the serial DC offenders, not the unintentional DC or Bug DC. 'Innocent players' have been dealing with poor sport DCers for far too long. I hope this new system works and those jerks learn their lesson.
-
Meh, I am at the point where I pretty much have all the perks but I remember finding it frustrating when blah perks were in the shrine when I was new.
Now I just use them to get tasty blood points ^^

Tell me how to play her then. I've searched and basically everyone says she's a camping killer.
Literally all she has is M1 and teleports to triggered traps. #########, I would trade the traps for 115% mov speed.
She isn't a camping killer, or at least if you play her that way it is not optimal.
Pick a side of the map with the best gen configuration. Set traps in middle of jungle gyms, and at key vaults. If you can trap the shack do it.
Don't get in long chases with her. This is key. If you are chasing someone in a non trap zone you are wasting time. Herd survivors to your trapped area and let them do all the work for you.
When it comes to hooking a survivor do NOT trap around the hook. It wastes time and not very effective with swf anyways.
Instead, trap the closest jungle gyms and high traffic areas. You want to always be applying pressure. If someone trips a trap on the way to an unhook that is what you want! Bam, you got one on the hook and now you are chasing a second. The other two have to act. If you down that survivor before the other is unhooked you are now snow balling baby!
Her best perk is Monitor and Abuse. Use if effectively by approaching gens in an unusually way (like behind against the wall). The small terror radius and her small stature can really trip up survivors.
Besides MA, Play with your Food can help her with speed, and Whispers let you quickly know if survivors are near gens are not. Do not use it as a tracking perk, use it as 'oh there are not in this area' and move on perk. Its a time saver.
Her best add-ons are the increased distance to teleport, and the fast trap set.
Hag is a queen and can easily get you to purple ranks. This is just my experience. I love her to bits!
-
I was wondering this too. Very distracting and misleading. Hopefully it will be fixed soon ^^
-
Yes and no.
No in that most swf are just people talking and playing together. When I do get to play with my friends we are goofy and don't really try since we are too busy chatting. We are also overally altruistic which gets us killed a lot lol.
I am like you tho, mainly a solo survivor and that is when I am more of a threat to the killer. More focused, more engaged.
The other side is yes, swf breaks this game. It is not often, but when the moon is full and its a weekend night I tend to run into a bully swf group. Sabo, perks that synergize, flashlight stun gods, head on, etc... as a killer there isn't much you can do. Luckily I have a sense of humor and just move on to the next match.
These 4 man try hard swf groups are RARE, but they do make the point that if 4 people want, they can make the killer a joke.
Tldr; yes swf is strong, but 90% of swf are just playing and trying to have fun. They are more of a threat to themselves ^^
-
I don't think you can buff solo survivor (aka the survivor role) without changing the game in a big way. With all the suggestions above they would give Survivors multiple extra perk slots, make perks obsolete, and leave the killer in the dust. If you start giving survivors free information, what does the killer get in return to keep up with this change?
I don't mean to sound harsh, but if you want swf benefits, play swf. It is that simple. Don't have irl friends that play the game? The forums and many FB groups help you find people to play with on the same platform.
-
For me I wouldn't like it. I want to play how I want to play.
As for Maps I know I am in the minority when I say I like random map selection ^^ Plus if I really want to play a specific map I make an offering.
As soon as people can pick and choose maps/killers/perks for others everyone's fun decreases and lobby wait times will sky rocket.
-
Why do killers need to have tells on what their add-ons are? Are they not allowed to have some element of surprise?
Hypothetically where would this stop? Would all killers need tells for their strongest add ons?
As for iridescent head needing a Nerf I disagree. I played against a rank 5 huntress this weekend using these exact add ons and 3 out 4 of us escaped (red ranks). She put up a good fight but those 3 hatches are very easy to bait. Also I haven't seen Irid. Huntress in a long time.
Huntress is not easy to play (especially at higher ranks). I can see lower ranks having issue with it but it is simply learning how to play against her and baiting those throws out.
If I had to come up with some kind of nerf to irid. Head maybe instead of having 1 hatchet with an insta down it is your first hatchet that is the insta down, and once its thrown (hit or miss) the rest of the axes are normal. The add on would make it so huntress has to use 5 axes before a reload. Only then would the first hatchet be a irid. one again.
-
The game is better without them, we don't need that kind of info. All it does is give people 1 more thing to flame fellow survivors for.
-

So, with all the broken things in game, like falling through the floor etc, that literally force people to disconnect...you're suggesting they punish people for it?
I mean, I get it . DC's suck, especially when you're trying to do a challenge or a daily...but they need to fix the technical issues that force people to DC first. Any other option, or opinion, yours included, is incorrect. It's not even up for debate. It's flat out wrong.
Lets be real here, the majority of DC is poor sportsmanship. Period.

Its amazing how playing killer makes you feel like more of a victim than playing survivor.
Lol this!
Playing killer is a thankless role. You gotta be able to laugh off the small stuff and keep your chin up. Killer isn't easy (at purple and up that is).
As hard as the killer life can be, that shouldn't make you feel like you need punish other players or take your frustrations out on them.
If you are ever playing a game to make peoples life miserable because 'someone made you missrable' that is very the definition of toxic.
Killers camp and tunnel because its a game and can be effective in turning a match in their favor... People who set out to camp and tunnel to make people's game experience miserable are just jerks.
-
What is your rank, and are you doing anything that might be considered toxic by the killer? (Flash light clicks, butt dance, etc)? Is your team farming you off the hook without BT? Are you a swf that are being jerks?
30 matches of killers camping makes me think they are either low rank or new killers, or you and your team are doing something to provoke it.

Like I said to everyone who says what you do, play on xbox for 1 game at high rank and then tell me it's not toxic, there's only a handful of players on xbox with skill so 90% of the games are just throw games because you get camped tunneled and farmed, let alone rank 20s somehow getting up the ranks
Well I am rank 3 survivor on PS4...and I am telling you, it is not toxic.
Ranking as survivor is easy. I am not very good at the game (I just play for fun) and I somehow reach red ranks all the time.
Maybe the rank system needs to be looked at so potato survivors don't make it to the high ranks. That would stop them from having to farm you all the time.
-
Sorry you are having a rough go.
Realistically killers are allowed to camp and tunnel. Heck, there are perks that encourage it. Yes it feel bad, it sucks, but its not toxic.
What is annoying is teammates not capitalizing on the killer wasting their time... or worse yet, farming you off the hook without BT. That is what bothers me.
A camping killer should be defeated easy... but when my teammates throw their bodies at him that is when I get irritated.
-
No. You can not get in trouble for this. The other person was being a poor sport, that is all.

A lot of "killer mains" are dissatisfied by the game and come here to complain. These people mostly just take the game too seriously and more experienced members become chill and unbiased. Based on my small amount of experience.
It's 'mains' in general.
People who play both roles have a better understanding of what balance is in DBD.
-
Game forums attract complaining, it is not specific to DBD. Sometimes when we are lucky we can get real discussions going :D
-
I would assume the technical term for a veteran player is that you have been playing the game since early access/ release.
That being said if you feel like a vet of the game because you have followed it so closely who is to tell you otherwise?
-
Yes, it works with all killers even when they are using their powers ^^
It is one of the best perks!
-
Does it really matter if Killers can see swf or not?
Killer already dodge if the assume swf, which isn't always the case. Sometimes 4 solos all show up in a lobby and it stills get dodged.
As people keep saying, the game as a whole needs an overhaul and be balanced around swf. I am not sure how feasible it is with the current game but maybe for a DBD 2 ^^
Until then a quick fix would make be to give killers the desire to play against swf.

I get that you think its perfect how it is. no need to mention that twice.
I dont really think theres 8/10 someone near the hook. also I think its a bad idea as survivor to stay close to a freshly hooked.
This just in: Survivors near a fresh hook 8/10 times... but killers constantly accused of camping ^^"
Go figure!
Jokes aside, I think whispers is okay as is. Any tweaks and it would become too strong of a tracking perk.

Yes, as killer I have always wanted to be swarmed and beaten to death by survivors with bats and then have them butt dance on my corpse.
Let's do this!

Survivors don't need to care about the Killer's fun because they have fun during the entire trial. Survivors meanwhile are doing the very exciting generators, sometimes not hitting a great skill check and being forced to hold m1 longer. There is a small difference between survivor and killer gameplay.
Water is wet? I am not sure what your point is.
You think the survivor role is not fun because 'gens are boring'? If you think so then don't play survivor. I mean, I switch between roles to keep things fresh.
Still, it is not the killer's job to make things fun for survivors. Their job is to remove them from match however they want.
-
Who says gen rushing is tunneling? Survivors need to complete gens... and killers need to kill.
You do know that each side has their own objectives, and the two side's objectives contradict one another... therefore what is fun for one role, is to the detriment of the other... its an Asymmetrical game lol.
Survivor's are not concerned of the killer's fun, why should the killer be concerned for the survivor's?
-
@Pulsar said:
Correct. No such thing as tunneling either, or camping for that matter.
This.
Each side has terms for how the other side completes their objective to make it sound dirty/unfair... which is not the case!
Gen rushing = survivors complete gens. Sometimes they complete them faster then 'normal'. Survivors have to complete gens to escape, which is their goal.
Camping/tunneling/slugging = methods killer use to complete their goal. Sometimes a killer will strictly use one of these strategies and sometimes they will use a combo. Either way they be killing, which is their goal.
