Thats not fair though. Us console peasants have to deal with this horrible frame rate while PC has better everything?

Talk to BHVR. I have nothing to do with the games development.

  • Hate to tell you this but dbd on console was a cash grab. Your better off getting the pc version or playing something else. DBD console is terrible.

  • I won't last 5 mins

Tbh DS is fine. If DS is gonna get nerfed then noed should be too.

I'll gladly give up NOED to get rid of DS.

  • If I get hit by DS it usually means 1 of 3 things.

    • I'm playing very well and being punished for it
    • I ran into the person I just hooked by chance and forget they were just hooked
    • My favorite. The survivor deliberately comes to me because they have DS.

None of my reasons involve ignoring other survivors to take out this one person.

I agree that the SWF/solo gap needs to be reduced and that queue times for survivor are terrible at the moment, but the answer to that is not buffing killer. We need to buff solo queue. If we buff killer from here, solo queue just becomes an automatic L and no one is happy. We also need to at the very least add an expected queue time to the main menu so that people who don't care can proactively pick the shorter queue. Better yet would be BP incentives. I have a great time playing killer, now more than ever. It's just an inherently more stressful role and people can easily get triggered by doing poorly in match or by the post-game chat. And then they come to the forum to complain about toxic SWF instead of just closing the chat and trying to evaluate how they might have played differently to improve the result, as is tradition.

As for hook suicides and the like, these are going to be a factor, but things like AFK de-pipping Wraiths or farming killers are also going to push things in the other direction. There is almost no chance that the combination of these effects are enough to make a survivor-sided game seem killer-sided. Maybe 68% would prove a bit inflated or a bit deflated if these effects where adjusted for, but it's not going drop the kill rate like 25% or something.

Undying is far from the only meta perk that's been added for killers since the last survivor meta perk (Dead Hard, July 2017) was added. Pop and BBQ are meta. Infectious Fright is meta on a few killers, namely Plague and Oni. Corrupt Intervention is meta on slow starting killers like Trapper and Hag. Undying and New Tinkerer were just added a few months back and both will very likely still be meta on high mobility killers like Blight even after the upcoming nerf. Nemesis was meta on Bubba for a while. Discordance is meta on Legion and is strong on many killers. Spirit Fury was the basic M1 killer meta (along with Enduring) for quite a while, and it still gets a decent amount of use today. Undying wasn't a "hey killers, here's your new meta perk since we've ignored you for years!" It was more of a "hey killers, here's another meta perk...oh crap, actually, that might have been a bit too strong". It's the same thing that happened to MoM, except Undying is still very good and MoM is meme tier.

Survivor meta perks haven't even just stayed the same; they've gotten weaker. DS has been nerfed three times since launch, and while I agree it still needs another nerf (it pisses me off enough as killer that I don't run it as survivor), it's certainly weaker than it was and it's somewhat counterable. Sprint Burst and Dead Hard have both effectively been nerfed from their initial states due to the exhaustion change that prevents you from recovering from exhaustion while sprinting. These have all been good changes, but we can't ignore them when complaining about one-sided nerfs.

Hillbilly's nerf was basically just an add-on pass, since overheating is usually not relevant when playing normally. As a result, Billy's still an above average killer. I've only had issues with overheating when running engravings personally. Nurse's change was a clear nerf, but she's still nearly universally recognized as a top 2 killer in the game. Seems to me like a very justified nerf. If we're bring these up, though, we can't discount Freddy, Doctor, and Bubba's transformative buffs with a "but they were weak before" argument. Yes, they were. And Billy and Nurse were both extremely strong. Now that the dust has settled, all five of those killers are pretty strong, and less extreme outliers in terms of strength than before. Freddy is still a bit of an outlier (highest kill rate in the game), but he's not as overwhelming as old Nurse was.

The killer and survivor community are both whiny as hell. The difference is that survivors usually whine in the post game chat and killers usually whine on the forum.

The current kill rate suggests there is no need for an early game mechanic to make life easier for killers. The generators clearly aren't going fast enough to allow even a middling amount of survivors to escape.

The fact that the kill rate has been consistently strong since at least year also suggests that killers are not being nerfed over time relative to survivors.

I agree with the part that the gap between swf and solo is terrible. However how does buffing solo address the lack of people playing killer? If we were to buff solo, which I think we need to somehow, that still doesn't fix the issue with que times. The only way to fix the survivors long que times is to get more people to play killer. Buffing solo survivors sounds like it would be good for the game but that won't encourage me to come back and play killer.

Okay I won't. A lot of killer perks aren't "counterable" either they can only be mitigated. They don't get touched either because they don't need to be. BBQ cannot be countered as you say only "mitigated" as you say. And its been that way for a lot longer than current DS.

DS and Unbreakable isn't invincible, what kind of silly argument is that. If DS+Unbreakable were invincible we'd have a 100% survivor escape rate.

I stopped reading when you said BBQ cannot be countered.

  • The devs will fix DS when they fix Nurse's bugs.(Never)

  • I haven't found a use for a smaller radius "during" a chase. If Furtive Chase was reversed I could see it being pretty useful but how it is right now. I don't know why they put it in here.

  • You know when you play CoD as solo. You get into a room. Your team is composed of randoms and the entire other team is all in a clan? That's what it feels like to play against a swf. Only your by yourself. It's not fun and you've only the devs to blame for making killer frustrating.

  • Normally I don't run it because I feel the same way. However when I play survivor I'm usually with a swf. Since solo sucks, I wouldn't feel bad about running DS.

  • All hail the mighty pebble! /church choir

  • I'm pretty sure a mod will consider this name shaming.

Allow me to point out the hypocrisy...

Killers want and use anti-momentum perks every game and depend on it.

They claim DS is abuseable if it is used as anti-momentum.

    DS < Ruin, Tinkerer, Undying

Ruin+Undying+Tinkerer gets nerfed because too many killers are using it. It took them a few months to adjust that. Ruin also only worked if you were pushing people off the gens.

DS+UB+ADREN+BT with keys have been used for years. Yet these are totally acceptable and reward you no matter how poor you play.

Take your tinfoil hat off! The devs are not catering to anyone. Everyone even killers admitted that Mori’s were bad for the game and needed changes Keys are different cause they have to completely rework the item give it new addons and make it so the achievement when 4 survivors escape through a hatch is not impossible it’s harder to code than mori’s

I agree Moris needed to be changed but how they did it feels wrong. It's like the MoM change. It had to happen but the way they went about it made the thing useless.

  • Nope. I'm a trapper main. Nurse is my back up :P

Found a bias survivor main though.

  • @shyguyy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/218135/nurse-is-bad-for-the-game

Definitely not the hardest killer to learn and master. This is simply a meme stated over and over by Nurse mains. As Nurse there is no need to learn how to run shack, jungle gyms, t walls, how to loop efficiently, when you can mind game a pallet vs when you need to break it. There is basically no need to learn how to play killer because she is so different. Once you have timings down and know the few things you need to learn as Nurse I would argue she becomes the most forgiving killer in the game.

I'm going to call BS. Nurse is hard to learn to master by far. If the survivors suck against a Nurse then it appears you don't need to practice to play Nurse. However the survivors that know how to block los and juke are hard to catch unless your a god nurse. The shack is most certainly required to learn how to play as Nurse. Good survivors can make better use of the shack without the pallet when fighting nurse. The trick is to loop the outside of the shack and stay just around the corner. It is a complete guessing game at that point. As Nurse you either have to

    • blink through the wall and pray you dont end up inside the shack then hope the survivor was still running forward
    • Blink to the end of the corner and hope the survivor doubled back instead of continued to run
    • not blink at all and wait a long time for bloodlust to build up. At that point gens are completed

Nurse is certainly not the most forgiving killer. Every single blink you mess up or every time miss swing adds to your penalty. Your entire post tells me you have never played as Nurse against real survivors because every thing you have said is completely false.

"So this perk is like a Nurse of survivor perks:"

I'm still laughing. Yeah, I get it I used to be a greenhorn too, back when DS didn't require getting hooked. But those two things are not even comparable.

Does anyone remember when they even considered making the skillcheck so huge you couldn't miss it? It was in a Dev Stream. Thankfully, someone put some smelling salts under their noses and woke them up from their fever-coma.

Don't run DS if you cannot hit skillchecks. Simple enough.

"So this perk is like a Nurse of survivor perks:"

I guarantee people run into DS way WAY more then Nurse players.

Nah nah, keeping 4 survivors happy to a ratio of 1 killer is smarter to do than the other way around.

I agree from a business point of view. It's best to please as many of your customers as possible. The problem with this product is if the killer isn't pleased enough to play the game. The 4 survivors don't have a game to play.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1864110#Comment_1864110

No its not bad for Killers to stack 2 slown down gen perks or more, you can put Ruin, Dying Light and Thanatophobia for example or switch Ruin with PGTW etc, that kind of stuff rarely sees people complaining on the forum.

What devs dont like is Survivors having to go through 4 Ruin cleanses while the Killer has high mobility with Tinkerer, while he can see you cleansing and Ruin keeps putting gens at 0% progress.

Only like 5 out of 22 killers have mobility. What about the rest? Your still proving my point. Ruin+Undying+Tinker is bad but DS+UB+BT+Adren with a key is fine. Double standard.

  • The answer is simple.

The devs cater to new survivors.

  • @Bond4ever said:

It is a anti camping perk, and in case survivor had 2 anti tunnel perk, what's the problem?

So it's okay for survivors to stack 2nd chance perks but it's bad when killers use more than 1 gen slow down perk? So that's why ruin+undying are getting nerfed. The devs don't like killers. Thanks for confirming what this community has suspected for 5 years.

  • The problem with DS is the killer doesn't have to tunnel and can still get hit by it. It punishes killers for playing well and rewards survivors for playing poorly. 60 seconds was too long for PGTW but for DS it's fine? There's no killer perk that adds a 6th generator because the killer failed to apply pressure.

Also a side note. If I hook someone and leave. A save is made and I currently have no clue where another survivor is. So I return to the hook. If the rescuer sneaked away and all I see is the hooked persons blood trail. Please tell me what do you expect me to do? Not go after that person because they were just hooked? Should I play poorly because your team made a save then sneaked away? Leaving you to be the only target? Now that I think about it. Don't tell me what you expect me to do because it will be something that solves nothing and only benefits you.

I realize that the same amount of blood points can be obtained through a handful of killer matches, but the amount of grinding that would have to be done every month just to get to rank one with the current pipping system would be ridiculously high. That's why it would be nice if it were replaced with an experience system. I'd like to think that playing a few matches a night over the course of a month would be more than enough to get you to rank one.

That or give us auric cells...........Yeah right lol

  • It's nice that we'll get BP for ending a rank reset in R1 but it's not really much. You will get 250k in like 3 matches if you bring BBQ and some BPS. Like someone mentioned, it will take you longer to get to R1 because you'll be starting from the bottom.

  • Evolve Stage 2 "might" have been a competitor if 2k hadn't pulled the plug :(

I wonder. When they were making Deathgarden were they hoping that game would take off so they could be done with DBD?

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1862855#Comment_1862855

Why would a Clown player do that to a survivor they suspect has one of those perks though?

Well not on purpose but it could happen by accident. I'm just saying it sounds kinda dumb to design a killer power that can actually hurt your objective.

  • What happens if a survivor is in a meth cloud the moment SB, Lithe or BL activate? Won't that just give them an even greater distance on the Clown? This power change sounds like it has too many draw backs.

  • I thought the reason devs didn't touch keys in the mid chapter patch is because they have no plans to actually balance them.

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1862792#Comment_1862792

Well, considering giving trapper 2 base traps already makes many addons quite OP, he already needs an addon rework once they implement that. However, being immune to OoO only is a bit hard to do, especially if its complete immunity. This discussion was with the addon rework in mind too, and making him immune to aura's while carrying traps actually allows for some very interesting addons that normally would be considered far too weak with OoO in mind.

And as for immunity to kindred, only when he still has traps. There are many killers who can be permanently immune to it, and Spirit can essentially use kindred in her favor. Let alone that perks that grant undetectability exist too. So I dont see that as being too big of a problem.

Being able to carry more than 1 trap without bags would help him. The main issues I feel trapper suffers from are

    • His traps all scattered all around the map and he has to pick them up to use them.
    • If your playing a swf with headsets. If one person see's a trap they all know where it is.
    • Without the bloody coil, which is ultra rare, there is zero risk to disarming his traps. Making him an M1 killer.
    • He requires time to setup. Making gen slow down perks a must pick. It would be nice if the devs gave us some more info on the early game start up they said they were working on.
  • When I opened this thread I was expecting some smart ass comment like "Play with friends" lol

  • I can picture that being OP in some cases and I'm a trapper main. I'm all for buffing my boy but within reason. He would be immune to kindred too. Could we just make him immune to OoO?

  • @BuffPig said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1862356#Comment_1862356

ok you say i should learn how to tbag and try to get pressure with oni when everyone cobes and no one need to leave a gen.

Maybe you know how to chase 4 survivors at once

When facing opponents that have way more hours than you. There is a fine line between "learning" and "getting clobbered". A match like the OP posted should not happen in any game. If your playing CoD and you spawn in the path of a moving bullet, your not really learning how to get better at the game. Your just cannon fodder.

    @MrGrizzly said:

Oh my god I thought this was gonna be another post how 'survivor sided' this game is, but thank god it's just matchmaking.

It's refreshing to see a player admitting that they lost because they played against better players instead of blaming the game.

Hope you get better matchmakings next time, good luck!

I agree. It is refreshing. Terrible MM is a legitimate complaint. All I can say is keep at it or play something else. Remember these moments the next time survivors quote their survivor's rule book for killers. Show them no mercy for you shall receive none!

  • @lagosta said:

I just wish they show your own MMR, or possibly other players to in the post-match screen so we can have a parameter as to why we've been placed together.

If we could see our own MMR and that of our opponents. That would only give us more evidence that their MM is #@$%ed up. They won't allow that. The more they keep us in the dark the less things we have to argue about.

  • @AggressiveFTW said:

    Chill, it's coming soon...

Just like the fixes to all the Nurse bugs from her rework a year ago :P

  • Honestly I feel the killer buffs are mediocre. It feels like they just did it to say they did something. Trapper has way more issues that are more important than how fast someone escapes from a trap. The fact that he can only carry one trap without bags. Traps spawn all around the map and require him to travel to pick them up. There are other issues that require attention and they choose to fix this? It's like you take your car to the shop because your brakes are shot. Then the mechanic installs a better seat belt........Why not just fix the brakes?

  • I haven't played since April. With this damn virus, lord knows I got time to play games. DBD isn't one of them however. I didn't even hop on to unlock the twins. I have enough shards to purchase them for free but I don't even want them.

  • @SkerpiTwitch said:

Ofc not, if you stay on a gen it does absolute nothing. Gens goes as fast anyway. As you can only chase 1 survivor at a time

Then again, if you have alot of survivors complaining about it, the rest will follow and adventually actions will be taken no matter if its true or not.

There was no infectius. It's a switch audio bug. What should I do in your opinion? Hide in a locker the whole match when there are 4 gens left? Do you see a medkit I could use or a teammate who could heal me?

There's very little to go off without knowing the Nurse's load out. Was she running M&A to shrink her TR? Was she using range add ons? That would explain how you didn't hear anything until she was on top of you. Before I got into that situation I would have tried to find someone to heal me or look for a chest hoping for a medkit. As soon as someone got downed near the gen I was at I probably would have backed off. The Nurse could have heard you working on it while chasing that other survivor. The very least if you insisted on staying on that gen you could have switched sides when someone was hooked. You might have survived the surprise attack that way. The window to blink after blinking is very short. She might not have been able to catch you right away had you been on the opposite side.

if you're a experience player you can be everywhere.

just play nurse, billy, blight, spirit etc any mobile killer. and just go immediately to the totem, get a quick down and repeat the progress.

What about the other 19 killers who aren't mobile? Even if your mobile the killer would have to give up a chase the moment someone touched a totem. Which is also counter productive.

  • @Raz_ said:

    killer mains : do bones

Undying : shows aura of survivors

Killer main : camps the totem everytime he gets information

well yes it needed a change and that was removing the auro reading. eveything else was fine.

The killer can't be everywhere at once. There are 4 of you vs 1 of him. If the killer is guarding the totem then they aren't applying pressure. Which defeats the purpose of ruin in the first place. You can just power through it. If you gave yourself a 3 gens then that's all on your team.

I watched the clip and do you want me to go over what I saw?

From what little it showed you were still injured.

She just hooked someone not too far away from you.

You sat on the gen and your back was towards the direction she would be coming from.

It sounded like you screamed from infectious fright so you should have been leaving the moment that team mate got downed.

    You had DS up.

From what little your 30 second clip showed. I see a cocky injured survivor whose location was revealed but he had his 2nd chance perk up and assumed he was invincible. He got downed and went to the forums to complain. You didn't even attempt to consider what you did wrong or how you could improve. You just made a thread saying Nurse is unhealthy. People like you are the reason killers get crappy nerfs that aren't needed. Nurse didn't need a CD, Billy doesn't need an overheat. Freddy didn't need to be nerfed the week he released but survivors like you didn't want to git gud and instead made enough hate threads. Then the devs listened to the majority.
