lol no
People who work on cosmetics (artists/designers/modellers) are going to have an entirely different skillset to gameplay programmers, you can't just assign a game designer/programmer on cosmetics and vice versa.
You missed the point. I wasn't saying have the cosmetic team work on balance. Instead of hiring people to work on cosmetics they could have spent that money on hiring more people to work on the balance team.

lets buff it to 5 minutes and just have the game die completely for a few months.
I think that's a great idea. Have the game die and the devs need to really overhaul the gameplay if they want people back. What else are we gonna play from BHVR? Death Garden?

If you´re sick of seeing them, maybe browse the CIV 5 forum instead?
It's funny. For no reason at all. I felt the urge to play Civ 6 last night :P

You are better than most survivors because you recognize that you suck. Instead of blaming the game or saying killer's are OP, you realize that you can improve.

It doesn't matter that it's a different team. A separate team working on cosmetics are still resources that could be put into the balance team.

In my opinion, DS alone isn't even that bad. The only change that I believe DS needs is the ability to weaponize the perk.
The real issue is Unbreakable when it's paired with DS. That is when it becomes truly uncounterable. DS is relatively counterable when on its own, but if the weaponization of the perk is taken away, it will be entirely counterable.
That and make it so locker/gen grabs don't count. It's really annoying that someone gets unhooked and goes straight to a gen. Then if I see them they run into a locker.
-
If DS+UB was truly balanced do you have any idea how many survivor mains would suddenly suck?
-
You can always spot the people who only play one side. In the situations you listed. Anyone who has a decent amount of time into killer would do the same because it's the best option for your objective. Anytime I get tunneled, moried, camped or whatever. Before I get bitchy I ask myself "In the same situation wouldn't I have done the same?"

Because the killer can't really do anything about gen rushing, it is baked into the core of the game with 4 survivors vs 5 gens and it just failed game design, and any perk that helps against it gets nerfed into the ground.
Meanwhile survivors have 4 people, Decisive strike, Borrowed time, Unbreakable, For the people, Soul guard.. etc.. etc.. to deal with tunnelling.
"Because the killer can't really do anything about gen rushing,"
Not to mention every time we get something that can work against gen rushing. The devs are quick to nerf it.
-
Might as well. Moris are useless now anyway. It takes more time to execute someone then to hook them. The only time Mori is practical is if you somehow get 5 stacks of Devour Hope.
-
1: For obvious reasons, never try to body block a chainsaw. If your the obsession, STBFL will lose stacks. If the killer can catch people quickly than just don't body block. It's a judgement thing. If gens are going well and you can afford to do other stuff than by all means. If the killer is kicking ass, stick to the gens.
2: If the Plague was tunneling/camping then I suggest just doing gens. You probably won't pip but if they aren't applying pressure, it's best to capitalize on their mistake. If they spend 5 gens camping one person to death and they have noed. They might get only 1 more person. more if your all grouped together.
3: If someone is running kindred and you can see someone going for the save then stick to the gen. Or other objectives. No sense everyone stopping gen progression to make a save. If the person going for the save suddenly makes a 180 and runs away from the hook. They are probably being chased. Then it's okay to go for a save.

I mean... I don't understand why people want that at all. I'm fat, like unhealthy fat, largely as a consequence of my depression. It's something I struggle with and am constantly trying to deal with.
While I am completely a supporter of not shaming people for their weight there is nothing to celebrate when it comes to obesity. It's not anymore cool or sexy than a person with the opposite problem. Most overweight people don't over eat because of a conscious decision to be fat. It's because of mental health based compulsions or poverty making it hard to get healthy food.
So, no. No we do not need people with eating disorders and unhealthy body types.
For like 9 years I was working dead end jobs that only gave me a 30 min lunch break. That greatly limits what you can eat. For 9 years I had Mcdonalds and Wawa 3-5 times a week -.- I was too lazy to make my own food for work and even if I did. Someone would see it sitting in the fridge and steal it.

My question now. Why should I have done?
- Be chased? He was already chasing others. Running towards him and saying "chase me" via teabagging or other means would be rude and inefficient bcs I deny the Survivors being chased efforts. They get chased so others do gens.
- Do totems? Why I should spend plenty of time to prevent a perk from appearing that the Killer might not even have?
- Save from hooks? I am not meta Survivor, I don't run Dead Hard, DS, Unbreakable, I can't afford myself risky saves when others can do it, and they already do it. I see them with Kindred.
1: You don't have to teabag to get the killers attention. If he is commited to chasing one person you can attempt a body block to take a hit for them.
2: Totems are worth doing if your team is doing well. If you got a few gens done and the killer is barely applying pressure, ease up on the repairs and look for totems. He may not be running NOED but you will cry if you ran circles around him all match only to get one shot+face camped at the end.
3: You do not need perks to make a rescue. Just be sure the killer is no where near by and don't run to the hook. If he see's your tracks going for a save he will likely go back and trade. If you make a rescue and the killer comes back to the hook, try to grab his attention so the person you saved isn't tunneled. If a save is made, you both sneak away and all the killer can see is a blood trail. There's no other option for him other than to tunnel. It's counter productive to pass up the chance to hook someone again and there are no other targets. If you unlock Borrowed Time I highly recommend it. Don't assume the person your trying to save has DS. Also don't unhook right in the killer's face without BT if you can help it.
Most important. If the killer isn't giving you any opportunities to make a rescue then just don't go for it. You'll only be adding to the body count. Do gens and escape.
-
You need to do a little bit of everything to pip. The reason is if one person on the team is a god looper and occupies the killer for so long. Everyone else is free to do gens and get out. That's why you don't pip for just doing one thing. It's the same for the looper. Their chaser might be iridescent but everything else would be bronze. If you want to pip you need to repair a gen, get chased for awhile, heal/save someone, cleanse a totem, open a chest, pallet stun the killer. All sorts of things. If you do just one or two then you won't pip.
There are times when the killer is playing very poorly or they are new. They aren't hitting or hooking people so there's no way to rescue/heal someone. If you get one of those killers your best bet is to just finish the match and start the next one.
-
I can't make a decision. I believe the perk is damn near useless in it's current state. However I remember the hell it was to put up with it when Ash released. I don't want a repeat of that.

But a Spirit without her power is the same as a Hag without her power. 24 meter terror radius. 4.4 meters per second. And every down they get will trigger Surge. Every hit they do will lose or gain stacks of STBFL. Only M1s will do that.
Im unfamiliar with spirit. So I take back what I said. If she is slower without her power then she is an M2 killer.
-
Id say Nurse and Hag are M2 because they are slow. They need to use their power to be able to catch people. Spirit on the other hand is M1 because she can down people without her power. Her power just makes it easier. Nurse+Hags power is required.

The killer was way out of our league. We had no chance. I already explained what happened and how I literally could not do enough to even safety. Yes, regardless of your personal opinion or perception of how every match should go at the very least, matches like this actually do happen. And yes, I should at the very least safety pip if I achieved the main goal of what a survivor is supposed to do in this game: survive. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that survivors should depip for escaping. I'm also guessing you didn't read my reply earlier where I said I had 2 disconnects and the third gave up first hook and I hatch escaped and still depipped. I had no control over any of that but yet because I was there and that happened I depipped for escaping a match my entire team gave up on. This is not fair and it is not fun.
This games MM does not exist. I know all about being thrown to the wolves in this game. Pretty much everyone does. Unfortunately you just have to push through it because it's the only way you will improve. It's never going to get fixed because there isn't enough people playing one side or the other. No matter what they do to the MM it can't work if there is hardly any players.
The reason the survivors don't safety automatically on escape is because there are people who literally do nothing except hide all match and find the hatch when everyone dies. If you escape by the hatch they can't find a way to determine if you were hiding all game or your team was getting clobbered and there was no other option. That's why the emblem system is in place, even if it is a piece of crap sometimes. It's also why there is no punishment for face camping. Without recording the match and watching how it went down. They can't write an AI that can tell if the killer was doing it to be toxic or if the survivors were constantly looping the killer right next to the hook.
-
My advice as a killer.
Show no mercy for you shall receive none.

It's a sock puppet :P

Which would be everyone? Except Ohmwrecker. I've escaped from Spirit, but they've been hatch escapes in very short matches. Why participate in a match that won't be much fun and over in 5 minutes or less?
If the survivors represented EVERYONE this game would actually die because there are no killer bots.
Second why should you participate in a match you might find unfun? Because you clicked "Ready". That's why. If your not willing to play a match because you might not have fun then you shouldn't be playing the game. Your argument makes you sound like the person who DC's because it's a spirit then you open a thread saying Spirit is OP! Your input is detrimental to this game.
Last, how do you expect to get better against a Spirit if you quit every single time you face one?

There are issues that need to be addressed. The abusiveness of DS+Unbreakable comes to mind.
The thing is, I've seen plenty of complaints about keys, exhaustion perks, NOED, ... basically anything that top players can and will use to their advantage. It's reasonable to assume the vast majority who are dedicated to enough to the game to join this board are playing in red ranks. This place is an echo chamber for people in higher ranks who want every "crutch" out of the game whereas less skilled players do appreciate a second chance in the form of Dead Hard or hatches for a last-ditch effort.
I'm still waiting for them to fix Nurse's bugs that were introduced after her "rework". It's only been over a year -.-
-
Bugged cosmetics is money lost.
Hackers are just an upset player basis.
One issue clearly affects their $$$$$. Isn't it obvious they will prioritize that first? I agree it's bull#@$% but this is why they are doing it.
-
My favorite. Haddiesfield but only if I am playing Trapper. If I block the roof tops those traps cannot be disarmed without stepping in them.
My least favorite. Lerys. I have a hard time finding gens or totems on that map. It's also a play ground for stealth killers.

They nerfed them, because her add-ons were busted. Given that Nurse is still a consensus top-2 killer with much weaker add-ons and a cooldown on her blink I think it's fair to say that a nerf was warranted.
What the devs changed on Nurse isn't relevant to survivor complaints about killers like Deathslinger and Spirit, though. Nurse was nerfed because she was OP. People were specifically calling for nerfs for her. People want Deathslinger to be changed because his 1v1 has very little counterplay for survivor. He's only an average killer in terms of strength, so most players would agree that his strength isn't the issue. It's 100% his 1v1.
Spirit is similar, except she's also a top-tier killer so the DoritoHeads of the world do want nerfs. I think she could certainly stand a nerf, but she doesn't need one either. The key issue is just that survivors get just about no feedback on where she is while she's phasing, so they can more or less only counter her by guessing where she's going to appear. People don't think that's fun, so they want a bit more feedback on where she is while she's phasing (or even to know if she's phasing). Giving some sort of feedback to survivors without doing anything else would be a nerf, but that's not necessarily how she'll be changed (if she ever is). Like I said, I don't really care if the devs keep her this strong while tweaking her, but it would be nice for her to give some more feedback to survivors.
1: I agree her add ons were broken and needed to be changed but they could have stopped at that. Her base kit was fine. She didn't need a CD. Now you can literally avoid her by holding W. Her map pressure dropped. You need to waste 2 blinks just to close the distance. Then wait for your 2 blinks to be able to land a hit.
2: People don't think Spirit is fun? Well it's not fun to try to blink as Nurse and get stuck on an object or your 2nd blink glitches.
3: My point is when the Devs nerf something they tend to either do nothing or too much. They hardly hit the sweet spot. This is why I am against nerfing killers because the devs are inconsistent. Given the low amount of killer players I think nerfing one of the few top tier killers isn't a very good idea.
4: Their coding sucks. If they rework Spirit in anyway there will probably(almost certainly) be bugs added to the game. Given how they haven't even looked at fixing Nurse's bugs and it's been over a year. Spirit's bugs will probably be neglected as well.
5: I don't know how many times I have to say this. If you nerf a top tier killer, people are just going to move to whose next in line. This means less spirits, more Freddys/Billys.

Friendly reminder that people generally want her changed, not nerfed. Same goes for Deathslinger.
Edit: Not @DoritoHead I guess, lol
Friendly reminder. What happened to the Nurse when the devs said they were going to rework her add ons?
Pimped slapped with an unwanted CD, add ons completely suck and a plethora of bugs that have not been addressed for over a year. I don't want another repeat of that.
-
It sounds like the killer was playing very well or you and your team were playing badly. If you escaped via hatch and didn't even safety then you didn't do much that match.
Did you unhook or heal someone?
Did you repair any gens?
Did you cleanse a totem?
Were you in a chase for a decent amount of time?
Did you search a chest?
Did you pallet stun the killer?
There's a lot of ways to pip as a survivor. If you didn't even get a safety than you played very poorly or the killer was kicking ass. If it's the latter than why should you be rewarded?
-

DBD as a game is already pretty much a Lovecraft story so I'm not sure if the Devs would want to double down on their Lovecraftian horror. Lovecraft as a survivor would be hilarious but impossible, dude had serious issues.
Having Lovecraft in here would probably be more problems than BHVR would like. Considering how triggered the current generation gets about something that isn't politically correct. Id rather they just accept things were different in that time instead of holding him to today's standards. If Lovecraft were alive today he would be racist as hell and probably wouldn't get a publisher to print any of his works. Thing is he was born around the early 1900's. This was well before the civil rights movement. It was a different time. Not saying it was right but all I'm asking is just acknowledge things were different back then.

I used to show empathy for the other side. Then I remembered the other side usually has zero empathy for me.

Actually I've been suggesting for years the idea of putting 2nd chance perks into their own category and you can only equip one of them to limit the stacking. You can guess which side I play more :P

No amount of Blood Points will encourage players to play killer more on a consistent basis. Most have BBQ to farm points and there is a limit to how much harassment one can take. This. The problem isn't the amount of bloodpoints. It's that playing killer isn't fun most of the time. Unless the Devs find a way to fix that, the amount of killer players will stay where it is.

The "community" doesn't have a problem with spirit. "Survivor mains"(The ones that suck against her) have a problem with Spirit.

IMO when a developer asks you to take a survey. It means they "know" they screwed up. They just want an idea of "how" bad.

Welcome comrade. Show those survivors no mercy for you shall receive none.

I don't understand why they put some totems in high traffic areas where they will easily be spotted. If you work on a gen and rotate your camera. Let's be honest who doesn't do that anyway? You'll probably have a LoS on a totem. Why would you even put a totem in a spot where the survivors will most likely visit?
-
They can't really make the game scarier because in order for that to happen, the survivors would have to actually be afraid of the killers.

They were mostly average? Most games got down to 2 gens and some 1. Some were obviously good loopers and likely would have ran me for a hot minute if I was a basic m1 killer. I’m not saying I ever went against a swat team while I was playing her. I’m sure a coordinated swf could do me dirty. Like I said one swf made me sweat a bit but I capitalized on some mistakes at the end and 4ked
It kinda highlights why killers whose powers help them during a chase are the meta.

Yeah, for better or for worse, DBD's devs have seemed to prioritize new content over improving performance, fixing bugs, and improving balance. I do think they've made strides on the balance front (still work to do, obviously) and while frame rate isn't improving I do appreciate that the new maps look better without hurting frame rate either. Still, I do think they should put more effort into that side of things. Switching to three DLCs per year would really help imo.
I agree with everything you say but they make money from DLC. They don't get paid for balancing the game. I agree they should cut back on new content and focus a bit more on game health but money is the reason they are doing it this way.
