"Cuz right now killer is super weak"

    Hahahah...Nope.

    @Topic:

People who are working on DBD do not need to be good at DBD. You cannot compare them to people who play the game for a living, and even most of the Casuals will most likely play more DBD than the people actually working on it. And this is fine.

I mean, I can also imagine that you dont want to spend your free time on DBD (at least a lot), when you work the whole Day on the game.

You can compare that to a Cook who is working in a restaurant. They will most likely not want to eat the food there and rather go to get some Fast Food.

I hate the argument that devs don't have to play the game or be competent in it to understand balance. Using your analogy it is like saying a cook doesn't have to taste his food before serving it, he can just trust it will be good.

If you care about your craft you should at least know what you are making.

I disagree. It wouldn't kill the game because it would add more killers. More killers means more people to spread out the ranks. The reason r20 killers face r1 survivors is the lack of killers. More killers means less survivors and a more even playerbase. Which would be a step in the right direction for matchmaking.

Also this post isn't here to complain about the games problems. I'm just trying to suggest something new and fun. There are plenty of posts aimed at the bugs and issues.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1069641#Comment_1069641

Shards and splinters are nice but you don't get perks. Also they are a choice (you know which killer you are trying out), and they are one time use. Whereas this would give you a load out of T3 perks, and you have no idea. You might want to try out legion and wind up playing the pig and being like "holy crap I can make lion sounds" and now you have a new pig main.

It wouldn't add more killers. People don't play killer because killer is too stressful, not because they don't have them unlocked or leveled up. Just because you offer to let someone play as bubba doesn't mean they are going to want to play as bubba. Also, if I were a brand new rank 20 killer, I want to practice with one character, not bounce all around.

I agree with what you say about him being good as he is right now, but the skill checks with Huntress Lullaby + Whispers and addons to make them reversed and random placed on the corner of your screen is actually hard AH, take it from a rank 1 SWF 4 men who worked through old Ruin no problem. I'm having lots of fun learning to do them, but they are hard

I'm not saying they are not hard, I'm just saying people should practice and learn instead of asking for nerfs, especially people who have only been playing for one week.

I shouldn't have to completely change whatever build I'm using just to use the meta perks to escape. The whole point of this game is to have fun and if I'm just stuck using a meta build to survive against a now somewhat overpowered killer, it's not fun.

I've been playing for months and old doctor wasnt as bad. I dread any game against doctor because it's so difficult to get out with my own build

You are supposed to feel like you can't escape easily. What's the point in playing otherwise

  • @darknahu said:

He knows your location. So he can tunnel and camping you easily.

You can't save your Allies, cause with his shocks he knows you are coming

He change your skill check. So for new people It's so difficult.

You can't be silent, you can't vault, you can't drop pallet, you need to snap out of it, you can't rescue, skill check zones are different.

I read so many post about this Killer, It's broken.

    It really needs a rework.

He is fine where he is. Idk why everyone complains about skill checks and new players. It's hitting a button at the right time, figure it out instead of messing with killers.

According to the steamcharts there has been little to no difference

In my opinion, the fact that a new killer didn't help them gain any substantial amount of new players is indicative of player dissatisfaction and people leaving.

  • @PrettyFaceKate said:

Easily abusable. If you camp to death, you can effectively stall all gens. Then whoever picks up the tool has to go through 5 gens. If you catch them, or alternatively catch anyone else while having at least 3 gens with some regression, you can camp and stall again.

To be feasible the tool must be respawned immediately upon hooking and the killer should not be able to see it, or it could just be camped.

Or, you would have to make it such that any 3 tools would have to be able to get a gen to 95-ish%. However, it would still encourage camping to get a lot of cheap 2ks which could be turned into 3-4k.

I'm aware that any idea like this would need to be refined to figure out what happens when a survivor dies. And I don't consider any 2k game as cheap because that is clearly what the devs have set as their standard.

I agree the killer shouldn't be able to see the tools at anytime as that would give them too much information.

  • @C3Tooth said:

Good idea, I can add a toolbox of 4 can not fix, but only able to repair when a Gen reached to 95%. Like a tool that trigger Gens to finally work.

Though your idea still have the flaw, 3 people still can fix on the same Gen and complete in no time

True, but my hope is something like this might slow it a little. Maybe one of the tools will make the user gain no benefit from prove thyself, or one tool might require you do a different type of skill check (like one that requires 2 button presses).

  • @Toastyy said:

the concept is cool don’t get me wrong but gens aren’t the problem the problem is toolboxes and swfs running a minimum of 2 in their team and running prove thyself also the maps are a big factor as you can’t keep up with the gens being so far apart and there being too many strong loops and vaults like disturbed ward’s main building as soon as I see someone run in there I immediately break chase because it’s super difficult to catch people in that building unless they’re a potato.

I know it won't fix the map issues but the hope is if you can eventually get one killed or scatter the swf in the game then it might slow them a bit.

  • That's the problem with people like you. You complain survivors have it so hard that you ruin it for everyone else.

There is multiple ways spirit fury works, it can beat low skill players that love to stun him (for some reason) and high skill players that get greedy or another loop. Assuming you have a very optimal team, your spirit fury will proc like once or twice but then they drop pallets early. Making them create more dead zones and if they don't heal (which is likely the case) they become a 1 shot down with also a bunch of pallets wasted.

Once again i'm personally not a fan of monitor at all, but that's just me and I've seen people say it works for them.

In all honesty i'm against add ons, I just don't see the use in them not saying their completely useless but they don't have a big enough effect on FF for me to use them. If i were to use them though i would run blades, fatigue reduction and recharge. Hope this helps :)

I get not everyone likes monitor, but I love sneaking up on survivors with it

"Just because someone disagrees doesn't make them stupid."

    Thats not what I mean.

But I mean, getting a 4K while the first Gens were fast, should be fine. In the end, it only counts if all Gens are done. Obviously you will not get many points or Emblems for a 4K only because of NOED right at the end, but usually Killers in Red Ranks play pretty solid.

Of course, if you have the mindset "2 Gens done, this game is over", you will not have a good time. But then DBD might not be the game for you. (Not meaning "you" in particular, but this is just the way I use to express myself)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1035345#Comment_1035345

Then you need to go to the Butt Doctor, a proctologist.

(Which is kinda odd, I always wanted to ask my proctologist when in his life he came to the point to say "I want to look in other peoples buttholes".)

I agree with all of this. I guess my concern is that it's too easy for a game to snowball out of control when a good team of survivors plays well. But if someone is a half decent killer then a 2k minimum is always possible.

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1035288#Comment_1035288

Assuming that the speed at which the first 2-3 gens get repaired will remain constant throughout the match is a pitfall that many of those who feel that games go by too fast fall into. In reality, it's to be expected that the first couple of generators will be repaired within minutes if the survivors know what they're doing, and it doesn't mean the game is lost at that point.

The start of the game is always going to be the point at which generators get repaired most quickly, because that's when the killer is applying the least pressure. As the game goes on, people get chased, hooked, injured, the pressure builds up, survivors will be forced off generators and the repair speeds will naturally slow significantly. That's how the game was designed to function, and that's the point the devs are trying to get across in saying that we should not expect all five generators to stay up for more than a couple of minutes.

I'll say again that I don't think the game is always lost when the first couple of gens go quick. My point is if all 4 survivors are still alive and well on a big map, it's going to be a very uphill battle for the killer (who is supposed to be the power player).

You can still win at this point. There is no reason why a game should be lost when 2 or even 3 gens are done. This is the problem, people think they lost at this point, meanwhile they still 4K.

When someone thinks it is bad when the first Gens are done fast, despite ending with a 4K, this person is just outright stupid. There is no other word for that. Especially with the adjustment to Gatekeeper it should also not be as punishing as before.

I see it problematic when 4 Gens get done with still 4 people alive. THIS is where a game might become a loss. But not after 2 or even 3 Gens done.

No one is saying a 4k isn't possible. But if one or two chases go on too long after the first 2 gens are done, good luck even getting 2k.

Just because someone disagrees doesn't make them stupid.

They said that you should not expect to have all 5 Gens still to go after 4 minutes into the game.

    This is totally different.

It's true they did not directly say that they want short games. But when the first 2-3 gens pop like crazy and the survivors are smart enough to not three gen themselves what do you think is going to happen.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

"DEV CONFIRMED THAT THEY WANT THE GAME END IN 5 MINUTES"

This is incorrect. Stop making things up because you are Butthurt that your Crutch Perk got nerfed.

They did make it clear that gens were supposed to go fast early on. This usually results in quick games

  • @ad19970 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1033839#Comment_1033839

Well sure that's true, but in that case many people complained about those certain things. If they see that many people are unhappy with something in this game, the devs will at least take a look at it. I just meant they won't just see my post and think that that's a great nerf, then go ahead and implement it. Pretty much everyone here disagrees with me.

I wish it was true. But if that were the case then the ruin nerf wouldn't have been put in so quickly.

Edit: I wish it was equal for both sides.

  • @ad19970 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1033768#Comment_1033768

I'm not a survivor main. No matter how much you want to believe that, lol. And these kind of posts aren't immediately the reason killer powers get nerfed. Only if the devs see that many people agree on certain issues. The devs do have brains themselves. They don't just go and look for the next suggested killer nerf on the forums and then implement it.

I do tend to think about both sides though, which is why I made this post, simply because I feared survivors might not have a fair amount of counterplay against Doctor. That and I wouldn't want the Doctor to be nerfed in any wrong way so it ends up making him too weak again. But I guess if people do that they must be a survivor main. But actually, no that's not the case.

I do get this is an early post on this matter, which is why I stated in my main post that I'm only talking about a scenario in the future in which the devs decide that they need to nerf Doctor in some way, because people feel like the counterplay against Doctor is too little. And that this would be a good way to simply add a bit more counterplay to Doctor, without hurting him in any significant way.

I'm actually happy to see that pretty much everyone agrees that Doctor does not need any nerf. So please stop with these immediate and ridiculous accusions towards people that have a different opinion than you.

The devs have to look somewhere for killer nerf ideas, and I don't think it's coincidence that the nurse, legion, and Oni all got nerfed around the same time forum posts were being made about them.

  • @ad19970 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1032859#Comment_1032859

You are comparing the cooldown of Legion to the slightly increased cooldown of Doctor I am talking about? Which again I explained why I would want this cooldown so anyone who understood my post would never get the idea to compare these two cooldowns.

I'm sorry but ythat makes me believe you do not understand what nerf I am suggesting. The only thing I am suggesting here is to make the counterplay of dodging Doctor's shock therapy just a tad more viable.

Everyone understands everything you are saying because you keep repeating it. Everyone else is telling you though it's not needed. And it is comparable to legion because it prevents an attack after using the ability. That's common sense.

  • I used thana, monitor, PGTW and nurses

  • @EnviouSLAY said:

If he couldn't cancel vault animations especially if they were quick vaults i would be okay with whatever. But i find it completely BS that its a 50/50 if you can vault because of his power. It happens even more now than it did with Old Doctor. Quick Vaults should be more rewarding than they are. Because vaulting in general anymore just means you get hit because of dedicated servers.

Vaulting is broken, but don't nerf a fresh new doctor because of it. He needs at least 2-3 months of evaluation before anything should be looked at imo.

  • @ad19970 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1032359#Comment_1032359

Yeah no not really. This certainly wouldn't be the Legion treatement, heck I even explain why this wouldn't be a big nerf in my main post. I guess you didn't understand the idea of this nerf and why I think it might need to be done in the future, but that's fine.

Legion has a 4 second cool down on his ability that cripples his game play. You want to add a cool down on doctor. I actually read and understood your obnoxiously long post chief. At this point, any nerf to doctor would be too soon.

  • So you want to give him the Legion treatment? And only 2 paragraphs of your whole post was necessary to make your point.

It's a rap entitlement problem to be fair to him. I just find it bewildering how all sorts of slurs are staple to rap music.

This would indicate #2 was chasing after you for the unhook and off the gen longer than they needed to be. People chasing for unhooks and rescues slow the game down more than the other 3 sticking on gens and leaving the 1st victim hooked for awhile. I don't know about you, but if I'm seeing both my allies chase for a rescue with Kindred on my own load out... I know things are likely going to be a 4K.

No, you are assuming he is directly behind me. If I'm on the farm and I hook someone in a corner, all it takes is 2 to be on the far side and one to be close for them to unhook before I can find the other two.

  • In what time? By the time you hook and go look for another, the one is unhooked and you have nothing new to show for it.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1018629#Comment_1018629

This might come as a shock but some players can put out enough pressure that keeps multiple survivors off gens.

Lol good one. I guess I did misspeak, a survivor could be picking another one off the hook, so that only leaves 2 gens being fixed.

You cannot pressure 4 people. IDC how good you say you are.

  • I'm a rank 8 survivor. I play my level 5 Meg all the time and escape most games. I'd say I hit about 99% of my ruin skill checks.

    Personal stories don't prove anything.

I'm not trying to be rude, but this is how these posts come across.

On top of that new Ruin is so much healthier for the game and as a 1600 hour vet yes it is less boring and frustrating to play against. Nobody liked those stupid skillchecks.

Its also surprisingly powerful with the right build/playstyle. Old Ruin slowed gen progress, new Ruin actually deletes gen progress. Its certainly a totem you want gone a.s.a.p.

I wouldnt take it myself because it doesnt suit my playstyles but yeah its underrated.

So one gen suffers, cool. What do you think they other 3 survivors are doing?

  • No, the devs started from the start they liked the changes and were not going to listen to feed back.

Everyone should be aware of the trend around new chapter releases and mid chapter patches including a rework or significant gameplay change.

Current players remains here or there abouts at 22k which is still really good, a lot of people play this game no matter what.

In terms of player count I'm personally unaware of it means people who own the game loading the game up and just accessing the game rather than playing it.

Personally as a dbd player, I've loaded the game up and lost patience with the matchmaking/lobby times and I just quit for that evening or whatever.

It's easy to defend the game's health when data can be construed by 'people are still loading the game up at the normal rate therefore the health of the game is ordinary'.

I know killers are in decline and looking at the steam charts the data of 'player count' doesn't represent the truth behind the frustration of players.

You could have 22k players looking for a match for 30 minutes and 22k players finding instant Lobbys and the data would remain the same even though players patience is wearing thinner than water.

The reason why I'm making this analysis is because I think around March/April when other games similar to dbd come out everyone will be shocked by a noticeable decrease in players.

This is because that is when players already disgruntled by dbd will be able to try other games similar to dbd and the data would be more of a truthful depiction of the playerbase.

Dbd is by no means going to die anytime soon however I feel it's important to have the means to analyse player behaviour and understand the many reasons why people are looking and hoping for enjoyment from elsewhere.

Dbd to some people is like a prison, a chore to play but it's one of those things where when you finally break free, you get banged up again a few weeks later.

Players are looking for hope on the outside but nothing real materialises (The last year, hide or die, F13, etc.)

People are desperate for something to ignite the spark to fire the passion which brought them to dbd in the first place.

You shouldn't leave it too late to actually see sense and acknowledge the needs and wants of all players.

People who play killer or survivor are the foundation of the game, if one of those doesn't work then the whole game starts to crumble and then eventually tumble over if you don't address the problems which exist on all sides.

These problems are what the game relies on to function yet they are often treated with a bandaid fix or left in to make the game more a better experience but at the cost of (temporary) imbalance.

I agree. People point to the steam stats but those stats simply don't provide enough depth.

If the queues were still like they were in the beginning of December... I'd be the first one here crapping on the forums about it, since I've been doing it in the past since the new Match Making system came in, which replaced the Match Making that was giving me instant queues for both sides not matter what rank I was.

    --

The issue as I see it is Killer became too popular. You could see it when special events were started and players all switched to killer since getting more BP during those events was easier than grinding it out on survivor.

Killer side actually has gotten way better over the last year or so. I never touched killer for the first 2 years cause of all the crap that went along with it.

That is why I see changes such as Ruin only a good thing. Since it might return some players to the Survivor side.. and again removes BS from the game and makes it overall more enjoyable.

    --

Match Making will never be fixed because of SWF.

    --

Well as for potato survivors in the high ranks. Survivor has to be easy to rank up. They had made it harder to rank up as survivor and that led to long queue times for red rank killers. Survivors are expected to die... Make it tough for them, why bother wasting the time on it.

This makes no sense. If killer was more popular, killer wait times would be longer and survivor shorter. You said the opposite is happening. And if ruin pushes more people to survivor side, how will that help survivor que times?
