It would cause a real risk of power creep. I don't see bhvr ever introducing something like that unless it's accompanied by a burden of conditions and failsafes.

Not much different to ruin, like I explained above in a comment it's weaker than ruin, requires at least 1 other perk to be usable even to begin with and wouldn't even need to regress as fast.

So all in all is weaker than ruin. But allows perks like dead man's switch etc. To become far more interesting and deadly. (Obviously regression wouldn't affect when survivors block gens)

  • @cpt_hellman said:

gen blocking perks work best as means of pausing the game for both sides. if you're having trouble with gen speeds try running Ruin or Dying Light

I'm not having issues with gens, it's just to make a huge amount of synergy possible with these perks.

I do run ruin, would rather the perk I suggested

Dying light is trash no thanks

    @Hippie said:

I think Ruin exists for that, haha... although it's a Hex perk and can be countered, thankfully. 😛

Yeah but ruin regresses all gens at x2. This would be less of a regression and only on blocked gens. So weaker in every way (especially since most gen blocking perks you need to force them off) but it cant be removed.

Weaker, but more reliable and would make perks like tremors, dead mans switch etc. Actually useful and playable.

This one perk would and could shift the meta

I don't think its been long enough to make any judgements.

When the environment and even pinhead himself can destroy hooks instantly then it makes his anti-loop worse than clown. Clown forces slow vaults, has a huge gas clown that doesnt really need to aim and doesn't get remove instantly.

It's a fair and easy judgement to see, tweak to that and I'd probably be happy. Great chapter from design and playstyle, just needs some tweaks to make him good

  • Hes weaker than clown atm though

I use wired connection since a long time.

It isn't my internet's fault. Download speed is just fine.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2438707#Comment_2438707

As far as I understand, DbD has a different way of making updates. And this causes issues for a lot of people.

Honestly, why does everyone say it is my PC's fault? The only reason I am complaining is that DbD takes an eternity compared to ANY other game.

I finished the update in 9 hours. 3-4 times more than it took me to download and install GTA V.

Like I said next time you're updating and its taking awhile try changing your dns and make sure you're using wired connection.

I had the same issue one time, my wifi was fine but the mass amount of players downloading etc. Hurt my speed.

I'm just saying what helped me personally

  • Things that helped me was a wired connection (even a wired tp link can help loads) and changing my DNS settings for the update and swap back once it's done

Now it wouldn't change much. Survivors will just learn to wait for end of it, before actually starting to play. I have played against teams that did it even against actual Corrupt.

Actually it would change alot. If you cant find someone during a whole minute then that's an area you need to improve on.

0 people on gens is always better than 4 people on gens. But like I said it's not always gen speed that's the issue it's the early game.

If you dont have ruin and everyone jumps on a gen then even getting the fastest down possible will put you in a bad situation due to 3 survivors working on gens. This is why corrupt is so good at the higher level games.

  • Corrupt tier 1 as base would solve this. Issue isnt as much gen speeds as it is early game issues. 4 survivors spawning on separate gens at game start is the real killer.

This is why I was hyped for the early game change they was talking about but never done

From the very first look he seems kinda weak but otherwise its tons of fun for both sides.

    Hoping for some tweaks.

Well having a close look it's due to how easily the hooks break on the environment and pinhead himself. Tweaks to that and he could be pretty deadly at most loops. But appearance wise etc best chapter so far

how many cenobites are there, because that's prob the amount of legendary skins to expect lol

Like 8+, so we wouldn't get that many lol.

  • He gets 2 skins, one likely a cenobite while the other a different outfit. All we know it ones legendary the others very rare

  • Liscene is what keeps me so interested in this game, I'm a horror fan and I'll never forget the first one added.

Besides some cosmetics ruin the killer, and I like the classic looks. Remember this chapter can have multiple set outfits. If I remember right theres like 8 of them?

This is my 2nd favourite indoor map as killer and survivor, first is lerys. Gutted it has to go especially since we are not getting new maps every chapter.

This is my favourite indoor map, the amount of meme/unique builds that this map allows for is amazing and were going to loose all that...

  • Trapper. Rather any other killer

  • Increase the dc penalties? You're completely right! I agree!

  • They should just up the dc penalties and implement an afk system to stop players going afk as well.

If I had my way I'd also remove survivors trying to escape to give up. People just need to grow up and accept not every game will be going as well as youd like

  • Most myers arent that though, still an iconic horror character and more fitting than other suggestions like fnaf etc.

Like I said alot of killers dont run, nor do they need to. Myers looked great considering

  • So maybe hes a ranged 110%? Honestly power wise he has alot of opportunities. Besides alot of the slasher killers dont run, even myers doesnt, he kinda just appears and stab...

So it's not that far off, if seen pinhead walk. But I still want a chatterer skin for him

  • I play on console and I enjoy killer, if I was limited to just survivor I'd get bored pretty quickly and couldn't play as much especially against bots

  • Okay but what stops a 4man sweat squad or top tier nurse going in unranked for easy games?

  • I came here expecting to see some mega bad spawns like iv seen instead I get images of a basic loop?

When you have 3+pallets about 1-5meteres between come back to me. Or at least a double pallet at these loops

Does that mean someone plays top Tier Killer and tunnel, then camp. Then get another hook with Noed activating Bloodwarden, and somehow manage to 4K with 4-6 hooks.

Will get lower skilled Survivor vs a Killer who play fair with 10 hooks 2K?

Yes, playing a top tier killer doesn't automatically make that person able to play at high level, you pretty much said the answer yourself. If a killer struggles to get hooks and can only facecamp and use noed to get kills it's quite clear they arent as good as someone who can verse the same team but get lots of hooks.

Look at it this way, imagine the survivors are the same 4 but one killer got 2 hooks and 2kills as they just face camped. But the other killer got 9hooks 1kill. Its quite obvious the one with 9hooks did better versing that team despite the less kills.

Kills only show the end result, not what happened in the trial. Does not take into skill, people quitting, giving up etc.

Sooooo... if it shouldn't be balanced around kills, then what is MMR based off for survivors?

I think it should be balanced around both kills and hooks.

Well the devs say its balanced and mmr is determined by a bunch of different aspects (they have said, they just stated it's not just off kills)

If you're asking me personally then for survivors chase is the most important skill wise, this is a category which a bad survivor and a good survivor has a huge gap between, next would be a made up category "efficiency" as this is another huge part of high level players.

All in all the game should be focusing on what makes good players good players, and I know kills isnt that and I think the devs soon realized it too.

Even in the recent survey they're asking what hooks do people class as wins so I assume hooks is becoming more of a balancing point?

I'd rather hooks than kills personally, I'd take 8 hooks 0 kills over 1 kill with1/3hooks

  • @glitchboi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2427875#Comment_2427875

If 2 survivors are able to escape and win, then it's fair. If the killer is able to win 2 kills, then it's also fair.

No. Kills is the worst form of balancing and even the devs acknowledged that and stated mmr is not just based off kills.

2hooks and 10hooks are 2 completely different games and can end in the same outcome of 2 kills. Someone getting 2 hooks and camping does have the same skill as someone with 10hooks

  • Well mmr doesnt put new players at the bottom if I'm correct, I could of sworn the devs said its place them middle of the pack for skill.

But putting that aside you was a swf, this allows very good efficiency and just a harder game for killers compared to if you was all solo.

People need to remember an average killer will lose against an average swf, it's why at the higher level people say survivors are the power role as when the skill is matched most killers struggle with pressure etc.

  • All killers have the same lunge distance except a few exceptions like tier 3 myers which is longer

  • @glitchboi said:

I thought they were aiming for 2ks for most games, not 4ks.

2k can be 2-10hooks. Kills mean nothing and should not be a balancing point.

Not too mention that if this matchmaking is actually good and working properly and you're getting placed with people like that then well im sorry to say but that means your the same "skill level" as them so....

I'm on about without matchmaking, with mmr my survivor life is like 100times easier, people actually do gens lol

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2421758#Comment_2421758

The thing is, if i end up in several games where only one other survivor is doing gens, and the other 2 just run around, why did i end up there?

I prefer to play stealthy, but i usually end up with the highest points (including killer) because i just do it all, gens, hook saves, totems, but chases only if the killer finds me (depending on the teammates i might also take over if one is in trouble).

But if i end up with people that don´t play constructive, there might be an unhealty focus on chases. I know for a part of the playerbase that is what the game revolves around, but thats is not true for all of us.

That being said, this reflects a previous experience and just shows why a little insight in how things work might help balancing different aspects of the game.

The last games i played were fine.

Yes but taking chases is important and certainly shows the most skill and that's why its important not only to take hook stages for your team but also to show you're good at chases.

To be high rank you should be doing everything in a trial, from chases, gems, totems, saves etc.

Biggest issue is alot of players dont do gens or chases which are by far the most important 2, so play how you enjoy playing and the game will adjust you to killers and survivors that match

how can be one of the most unbalanced games in existence competitive? where also RNG is a main thing, offerings changing the maps, LOL this game has everything to not get called competitive, i do understand what you say about people wanting to win and stuff but this game isnt balanced and is completely terrible for solo q players at that level.

Well mmr will make balancing easier, it's very hard to balance atm when you can have a rank 1 like me who knows all tiles, totems spawns, pallets, perks, can loop very well and is efficient on gens to another rank 1 who hides, cant look behind them, misses skill checks etc.

So that's the issue, you cant balance a game when players are so mixed up in the ranking.

Best thing is just play to have fun, ignore the ranking. There will be downsides to mmr but also positives

  • Well I get sweaty swf anyway, just when I play survivor I get people who should be rank 20 that cant loop or do gens.

So mmr will just better my survivor games and make everything more consistent so I'm all for it!

Btw a sweaty 4man can still go in a casual mode, and you cant stop swf in casual or you're stopping a casual group playing.

If you struggle in mmr you will go down and face people more your skill and playstyle

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2421742#Comment_2421742

Okay but then wouldn't there be a problem of peoples playstyles being unfairly belittled by the matchmaking without their knowledge, I dont see how it's a bad thing to at least roughly know what the system sees as good or bad. How can we give feedback on the system when we know nothing about it.

Well the idea is not to focus on the rank, if you want feedback then focus on how the match went and not if you're ranking up. When you know the ranking it's quite easy to abuse it so I dont blame them, everyone should play for fun not to hit a high rank sorta thing.

Then again I feel like I'm the only one who wants MMR lol

  • This game is very competitive. When there is so much salt or hate in end game chat its clearly competitive. While not everyone plays competitively you cant say the game isnt.

Every game has competitive and non competitive people.

But you cant say quitting to give their friend hatch isnt competitive lol.

  • Well if I'm not mistaken the devs said something like:

We wish to hide the mmr so players play how they would normally play and be match within the right ranking instead of people knowing how the ranks are determined and change how they play etc. To get higher.

Basically they want you to play how you normally would without ranking changing your play style

  • Honestly they should swap these two addon varieties around. I don't mind versing them and I like how wraith actually has good addons unlike most killers but having the aura as iri addon would be much better

  • I want it so theres less of a gap between my games. I hate having to try so hard in my killer game then when I play survivor I get potatoes that throw the game and dont do loops/gens

  • Fixing the desync would be a good start

  • @NomiNomad said:

More to the topic, I believe they stated it's not on their list of priorities. I would definitely love to see some of the killers get better Mori's.

Gore-wise, I think Oni and Hag are the best we're gonna get due to censorship laws in countries the game is played in.

I'd certainly like them improved, alot of the older killers are outdated. And are censorships that bad? Honestly never thought they was that strict

    @GannTM said:

Moris that need a complete rework imo are Wraith, Trapper, Hillbilly, Pig, and Freddy. There are a lot of cool animations including Plague, Ghostface, Oni, and Demo imo.

Yeah I can agree on those, very old animations for sure.

    @Tsulan said:

Since moris apparently are toxic and the devs want to do something in that regard, i wouldn´t expect much reworks visual wise.

Well they arent toxic, and moris are being worked into base kit at least that's what the devs said last time

  • @IlliterateGenocide said:

Isn't desync a thing that happens in 100% of online games? Its just the amount of how bad it is, dead by daylight is definitely not that bad in that area, atleast recently.

Yeah it's in most games you just dont see it, but DBD has 1+second desyncs. So when you see the pallet down and get hit, likely desync. Get a hit before they touch the pallet but get rolled back, desync.

DBD is the worst iv seen though

  • Honestly wouldn't be so bad if mmr was a thing, even without challenges I get teammates that dont touch gens or able to lead a chase etc. So I'm versing a rank 1 killer with a team that should probably be rank 10

  • Rather Jason, pinhead, alien, candyman etc. Before that. Not a fan at all, I'm an old classic guy

  • No desync is quite common, the hit validation proves it when you can get a hit before the pallet even starts to drop and have it rolled back.

I have 40ping and I get hit with desync pretty often, notice it more on killers like PH when your power is dead on them but they never get injured.

It's kinda a shame tbh, it's hard to adjust to the desync. Hopefully they will fix it or make it lesser.

Feel like when I play Pig, survivors just use a Bobby pin that was in their hair to take off the traps while fixing a gen, lol.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/270892/why-is-ds-even-a-skill-check-still

The perk has been destroyed, so congrats to killer mains. Not only do survivors now get punished for playing the game, it's useless on console. I stopped using it and just run Borrowed Time now. I wish my teammates would do the same. They've been complaining a lot about DH and Iron Will lately too, so those should be the next to be destroyed for survivors.

Um I'm console, use it every game and hit it easily. Still one of the best perks in the game as it punishes people who tunnel. Plus what if I dont want to use my DS straight away? I might want to save it for later which I cant do with an automatic skill check...

  • No, but I am on next gen though. Having said that you get hit regardless, I'll be mid animation and get hit so you aren't missing much

Starstruck and lightborn will actually give you easier games than normal against lots of flashlights, a lot of fun you're missing out on.

I avoid flashlights as survivor not killer, killer is just keys and bad ping

  • Sadly too time consuming at high level play. I'd be happy for the Moris to be more graphic, and the body left actually shows what happened (if doctor burnt your face with his mori you would see that on the survivors body on the floor)

  • Survivor: bad ping, keys, multiple flashlights.

    Killer: bad ping, keys.

Very simple really, game struggles with good connection. Keys just ruin my fun for either side. And I dodge multiple flashlights as survivor as they're either toxic or cant actually use it and throw the game, neither are fun.

“Imagine if most games you have as survivor end up getting hit once a pallets down, you wouldn't enjoy it would you?”

That… was literally how it worked before this change. That’s WHY they made this change. I stopped dropping pallets entirely, I would just take the hit and the speed boost every time because I knew pallets meant nothing and I was almost guaranteed to take a hit no matter how early I dropped the pallet.

And you keep missing my point. Latency is an unavoidable, undeniable fact of PvP games. It’s not possible to remove it, only reduce it a bit or make changes to try to make it less of an issue - but it will ALWAYS be an issue, especially when so many people still play on unreliable connections.

Either killers will lose hits at pallets because of latency, or survivors will get hit over dropped pallets because of latency. Those are the options the devs have and they have to pick one. There’s no possible way to eliminate both. You’re proposing some kind of utopian world where nobody suffers the effects of latency and everyone gets what they want but I’m telling you it’s not humanly possible to do that.

No. That is not how it worked at all. Being hit when the pallet was fully down was so very rare, dont go lying and saying every hit at a pallet was that far off. Like I shown in the image he got a hit before the pallet even began to move. That is the same as being hit over a downed pallet, which is obviously not acceptable so why is it acceptable for killer now?

And no I'm not offering a utopia, it's just obviously not working or working in a fair way. If on the killers screen it was close and got rolled back fine, but having a hit roll back when the pallet isnt moving is clearly busted and needs fixing.

I know no other multiplayer game which puts 1 player a whole second odd out of sync. This game has 5 players, if played games of 16v16 with far more going on and have better connections and hits. So no it's not normal to this degree, the latency should be so minimal you dont have these clearly broken hits.

Stop exaggerating your points saying all pallet hits wasnt accurate. In this example it's the same as being hit over a downed pallet. Which was a bug alittle while back that go huge backlash and was patched. But I guess this is different as its killer? No. It's not acceptable and it needs looking into, neither side should be 1second plus out of sync. No other game is, I'm done discussing as every comment you dont seem to grasp how this isnt working right. Survivors shouldn't be hit over downed pallets (on their screen) and killers shouldn't lose hits when its clearly before the drop (on there screen). Neither is acceptable, and saying it's killer or survivor has the issue is wrong.

DBD needs to fix their servers, create more or try to reduce the latency between players, this game is 5 players.... 5, every other game manages it for far bigger and complex games so DBD can and should focus on that.

  • Pretty bad imo, like sure she beats bad survivors but every killer does. A good team can beat you pretty easy, its rng if you get a map your dash works on and even more rng if your traps do anything. I have awful rng so shes an awful killer
