As stupid as it sounds but i think Freddy needs another rework. His abilitys are really boring. The only thing i like about him is his ability to teleport to gens. ( and also faking it ).
Trickster should just be able to use his main-event whenever he wants to and not be limited by a time frame.
On Sadako i never got use out of her condemning and in my opinion it could be scratched. Its just a gimmick.
Knight feels stupid to play as and against. I could only find strength in his ability to kick gens and place a guard next to it. I guess i didnt quite get the hang of him yet but honestly id like him to be reworked. Its really unfun as a survivor to be pushed from both sides where there is literally nothing you can do ( except to use dead hard against his guard, which in itself feels broken ). I rather get outplayed by a good Nurse or Blight then to just be pushed towards a corner with no real skill involved.
reading your quote about Knight. Idd like to recommend you look up CreepyClub for some juicy knowledge.

That hardly seems fair and balanced.

Isnt those movies just a advertisement or fancontent for WWE fans?
From wikipedia, I guess you have to be a WWE fan to enjoy it.
What other claims to horror or slasher does this movie has besides its a movie where somebody kills a bunch of young?

OnePumpWillie is already single handedly preventing Sadako from getting any buffs so that could be bad news for the Skull Merchant getting any reasonable buffs.
lmao and why would that be?

Can we not go on the premises that a few people who can play weak killers well does not make them good by any means.
If we archknowledge that playing a strong killer is a poor way does not make them bad by any mean? Then sure.

Anyway, idd like to make some constructive critiques to bHVR but I need to be able to record the animations to show the problem.
But I think the biggest offending walk animation is in the Post Game Screen.

What if instead of individual hook stages per survivor, all survivors would have a shared pool of hook stages amongst the entire team? Killers would need to get a minimum amount of hook stage progress in total before being able to kill survivors out of the match, regardless of who's been hooked however many times.
My face when dumb Survivors have used all the Hook Stages and I get hooked once and died.
What I mean is that it ends up destroying people who don't deserve it.

Like I stated in the OP, a Killer's strength doesn't equal how engaging or "fun" they are to go against. It's a bit more complicated then someone losing and going "i hate this killer its bad bleh"
I'll try to answer your question to the best of my abilities though.
One could simply chalk it down to taste and call it that. Some people like vsing Knight, some don't whatever. No big deal right? The issue comes in why people don't find a certain character enjoyable or engaging in the first place.
Ideally you want to strive to have both sides enjoying the content in the game, right? I don't think that's an unfair expectation and again this thread is NOT "Knight boring Knight bad" it's "People have issues with this Killer, what could be changed to fix it?". I wanted to have a constructive conversation about it, same reason I made that thread about DH not too long ago.
I don't know how accurate this is but from my exposure to conversations and my experiences since his release, Knight's not exactly considered the pinnacle of fun and engaging design, especially when compared to the Killer who came before him.
Ideally you want to strive to have both sides enjoying the content in the game, right? I don't think that's an unfair expectation and again this thread is NOT "Knight boring Knight bad" it's "People have issues with this Killer, what could be changed to fix it?".
I think "Fun" is poor indicator of that, even tho Dead by Daylight is a horror movie simulator. People DO NOT like to get hunted, smashed and killed in this game. But it happens cause that is how this game is played. We definitely need to question those feeling ALOT more.
One could simply chalk it down to taste and call it that.
You say this yourself and then back down from the idea without really giving a good reason why.
Why isn't it a taste thing then? Why cant we just chalk it up to taste? Why must Knight be changed now? Can you answer this?

Because we have a ton of killers that are fun for both sides. Its good for the health of the game, makes a killer more interesting because you can give him more pronounced strength and weaknesses that can be played around.
Or i guess you can keep him the snooze fest that he is by camping 3 gens and making survivors hold W because you can't do anything against him and he can't do anything against survivors holding W. AKA, no one wins.
I am gotten complaints about Killer being boring on every Killer I have ever played so where are these Killers which are fun?
Your following argument is 1. makes them interesting and 2. maybe being more interesting can make them stronger, which is really cool if that happens. But it would be an absolute terror if it failed and bHVR screwed up and ruined the Killer for years before a Rework in 2026.
Case is we have seen Killers such a Deathslinger which was nerfed to address an unfun strategy and after that his player numbers dropped, waste of my money really. Playing him any other way is too hard and bHVR is slow to react to make the Killers inviting to players.
The only way is to take it EVEN slower with Killer changes cause we need to make sure we don't end up with another Dead Deathslinger. That way we can make sure bHVR does not render the Killers unfun for Killers as well and when we do that I certainly think people need to come to the discussion table with more than, "its not fun"
-
Why DOES a Killer have to be fun to play against for Survivors?
"Sorry, you cant murder me right now, cause I'm not having fun while being chased."
I fear I have heard people in this Community use the word fun so much I don't know what it actually means anymore.
-
At least Sprint Burst does not force Killers to play who goes first when your corner a Survivor.
At least Sprint Burst is not a third health state.
At least Sprint Burst is countered by giving its users a scare.
Yeah I dont really care if Scott Jund thinks 4 Dead Hards per game is fun, I dont and that is what matters to me and others.
I could easily argue myself that I find current ERUPTION fun, does that mean it should stay? NO.

When you lose in this kind of system though you get worse teammates making it harder to win every single time was my point. You loop five gens and die next game you have WORSE teammates
I had a plague match earlier where I was the only survivor in gens for THREE MINUTES and the plague had her power all game
my swf hasn’t lost to plague in probably a year.
This was stupid ######### were they hiding injured and sick in lockers for? nothing I can do when every player is feeding her the corrupt all match and not on gens
Yes, but it you lose consistently again and again, while looping the killer for 4 gens, then you have good abilities in some places but lacking in others.
-
Its simple: Even tho a player can run a killer for 2-5 gens, healing, double pipping etc but getting face camped. They wont get that every game, they will in fact perform better than the players who escaped that match you have imagined here.
Dont look at MMR in examples of one match, look at it over many matches.
-
Hmm, do I as a Killer really want to commit to this?... Sure.
"YOU ARE GOING ON THE RAINBOW HOOK NOW MISTA!!!"
Any chance we can get Pride Rainbow Vomit for Plague?
-
Maybe we should wait and see how Skull merchants actually performs and see if any distinct strategies develop?
-
What on Earth makes you think bHVR would agree to maintain 201 extra perks for Balance Considerations?
what even

Sure I'm up for the new Killer. It was the first PTB I played the full week of the PTB.
I did pretty well, and now shes getting buffs. EVEN BETTER.
-
Yes, I'm running into really good Survivors tonight as well.
Way better than what I'm usually used to playing with.
Did you change something bHVR?
-
I'm not against camping and tunneling at 5 gens, if the Survivors let me do it then ill do it.
Like if I hook someone and I turn around and I see stretchmarks all around, Ill look for the scratch mark maker.
or If the Survivors unhook next to me, so I really go for the unhooker or just wait 10 seconds to down the unhooked again?

Dead Hard isnt fair in its current state, if it was people would not use it as much as they do. Clearly.

To echo what others have said, we typically hold perk updates for Mid-Chapters, not Chapter releases. Eruption was originally planned for the following Mid-Chapter but was bumped up due to the amount of feedback it was getting. We found just enough time to squeeze it in to an earlier update. Dead Hard, by comparison, has become a hot topic somewhat more recently. Keep in mind our updates are planned and worked on months in advance, so it can take some time before things that are 'hot topics' see changes.
That said, I cannot confirm whether or not Dead Hard will be changed, but by no means are we ignoring the discussions about it. Keep 'em coming.
Is the idea true that Pro Killer suggestions are fewer because there are more Survivor players in the Community?
I heard that idea a lot lately relating to this, but I'm pretty confident in the work of the Community Managers to sift through it all.

Hillbilly and Deathslinger come to mind.
This one is easy actually, so bHVR does that with considerations to balance and with both those Killers there exist players who play them despite that. Hillbilly had a big fanbase and Deathslinger still does. These are communities of players who knew how to play them and played them well, so it was a thriving community so they could not give Billy a full rework then as they intended. However fanbases dwindle and Hillbilly is so out of date by now. So that means they move up the priority list for a new change.

I dont think bHVR will change DH outside of big Patches. Cause the community will explode if they touch DH again.
-
We don't know if bHVR is going to address Dead Hard in next Mid Chapter. The Big Summer Perk Patch.
I hope they do, even though you may feel they gave Survivor Priority to Eruption with Incapacitated. I too think its a bit unfair.
Like a Survivor can use Dead Hard to undo a 25sec chase, but a Killer isnt allowed to prevent progression/healing for 25sec?
Just make sure you voice you concerns/ complaints to bHVR and they will do something hopefully.

Any decent nurse will down you again in 6s every single time with current DS. You can be anywhere. You just make no distance to hide behind something to actually juke her. Blight & spirit is in similiar position if slightly worse (yes - god pallet will help you in this case - but why would you die in that spot if you were next to god pallet anyway?).
Anyway - none of the mentioned perks will even help you if killer proxy camps into immediate tunnel. Not a single one of those.
Again is like you are not listening at all, if Nurse downs you in 6 seconds the MMR is off. if you expect perks to help you about an off-mmr nurse that thats not intended and there is no way bHVR should buff perks to save you from an off-mmr nurse. There is no way that would be fair to actual balanced mmr.
But they will help you vs a fair mmr matchup. I have used them myself MANY times.
Perks are not designed to save you against people who have honed their skills with a Killer too much.
-
There should be a way to buy a Legendary Skin outside of their characters.
Instead perks should not be tied to "Leon" but his role as the "Rookie Police Officer"
Cheryl and James Sunderland could easily share the "Veteran of Terror" Role
Even tho Carlos does not really share the Role of "Rookie Police Officer"
That being said I'm sure there is a way it could be done so Roles, Perks and the store being wide open without considerations.

Actually...yes. I'd be very happy to have longer waits in exchange for a better game. Especially for killer, since if they get an MMR glitch of a game, they're trapped in there for the whole game, even when it's very obvious they have no chance of winning.
Then go make a new Feedback post about it, a new big fresh one, Arguing for your point.
its the only way to make bHVR reconsider their previous changes.

what purpose does ds serve if the killer doesn't leave ur hook and face camps you? correct! nothing! if a bubba face camps you with their chainsaw nobody can unhook you. period! oh and if i play blight or nurse i don't give a ######### if you have ds or off the record. i will shred through 6 health states in seconds. if i hit u once with otr u can't use dh so u'll go down easily. if u have got another exhaustion perk i will bump into 3 more walls and u r down again. then hit me with ur ds and i will down u again in seconds. with nurse it's even easier because u don't even care if there are windows or pallets. u will just teleport right through them. a good nurse doesn't care if u got ds, otr and dh. u will go down in seconds anyways.
If you are not unskilled, you can use We'll Make It, Guardian, Renewal, Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike and Off The Record.
All of those perks will help you with tunneling.
For Camping, there are Reassurance and not getting Caught.
if you go down in 6 seconds to a Nurse then you should not be matched with that Nurse mate.

1, DH is also anti-tunneling perk.
2, there are no GOOD perks against tunneling now. DS got nerfed. It basically works now only as 1x 6s chase extender and bleeding-status remover (so in combination with DS, now it's much riskier version of old DS, but takes 2 perk slots). OTR helps only against killers that don't really tunnel (making it especially bad, because it disproportionally punishes killers that don't tunnel by survivor getting healed and then having 3 guaranteed health states for about a minute). Against real tunnelers it's basically just old Iron will for 80s and that's it (because you will get hit within first 10s of your BT anyway).
So again. Current design with OTR and nerfed DS is just pure bad. Most of killers do tunnel but still survivors don't bring anti-tunneling perks that much, because they plain suck at their job. If they were good at their job, they would be used a lot (and killers would complain again that most of lobby have THAT anti-tunneling perk on most of survivors). Tunneling is just too good strategy and there are too few good counters against it in the game as is. Meaning it will remain to be the problem and it will be even worse so long as there are fewer ways to combat the strategy.
We would need just 1 good anti-tunneling perk and the problem would be fixed to quite some degree (with exception to said killer complains about how many people bring the perk) - this was already done with reassurance to combat hard/face camping. The opposite was done to combat tunneling (and yes basekit BT helps, the chase didn't last less then 1s if somebody didn't bring BT and killer was tunneling, but it did nothing to prolong the chase above 30s (disregarding survivor being much better looper then killer) - which was killer's win every single time - it's impossible to do gens quickly enough for other survivors to power the gate before last survivor gets "tunneled out" like this). So the only way survivors can win is if single survivor can loose killer or loop him for 2+ gens every time - which means killers will say maps are OP and it's too easy to loop killers (something mentioned in these threads all the time).
there are no GOOD perks against tunneling now.
False. I use them myself and while I know how to evade a killer it helps still. I see a lot of Survivors whine because nerfed DS wont help them against sweaty Nurse or Blight, but they still do work against those. But ofc they are not the free escape which Survivors want those perks to be. Face reality. OTR and DS are not bad at all.

@Gandor said:

My point was it doesn't matter if survivors make this mistake or not (and in my experience survivors don't do that - at least not often). Killers will capitalize on it anyway if they want to play optimal game. Because the game design just dictates that most optimal strategy is to zone/proxy camp and then hard-core tunnel. So if killer plays optimally (aka boring), then all 6 of your points are totally meaningless. And again - I don't blame killers for this - they just play optimally. This is something devs should actually fix.
Survivors have multiple perks to deal with tunneling and perks to deal with camping and they can do gens and get out.
But they rather Dead Hard, and twerk, its their funeral.
-
@Gandor said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3358151#Comment_3358151
This is such an idealistic thinking so removed from reality...
Like sure there are survivors that make these mistakes. But these things will solve absolutely nothing against decent killer that wants to just win (I am not blaming killer for this - I am blaming developer's design. Each side should try to win, but devs should make sure most optimal strategy is not the most problematic one).
Because any such decent killer will proxy camp and tunnel immediately and there's nothing you can do about that one. There will be no safe unhook. There's no point in taking hits. Even downs will result in nothing, because such down would be trade where tunneling one guy out is more optimal. And devs should make sure that this is not the case. Instead we got DS nerf so NO KILLER EVER respects it (because why would he? It usually prolongs the chase by 6s anyway if said survivor even brought the perk at all).
I'm glad we understand each other, YES Survivors not doing not smart actions is quite idealistic, but that's not the Killers problem.
Don't nerf Killers because survivors are being not smart. Its not my problem.
Fix the MMR instead so the bad survivors can end up in Low MMR, where the unwise survivors belong instead.
-
A Better Solution of Camping and Tunneling is to:
- IF the Killer Camps to Gens, dont unhook.
- Dont pull Survivor off next to killer, then the Killer can tunnel.
- Dont pull Survivor off if the Killer can come back is relative time, then the Killer can tunnel.
- Dont loop the Killer near a Team-mate on the hook.
- Unhook when safe.
- If you must Unhook next to Killer take a hit for them, it makes you a target and not them.
-
Agreed, Dead Hard is still used too much even after getting "fixed" by bHVR.
They need to redo the Endurance Effect. Change it into its two basic components.
- Braced - the ability to take a hit but get deep wound.
- . Flight - the Speed boost received normally after taking a hit or getting off the hook.
Getting unhooked should give you Braced and Flight.
Activating Dead Hard should only give you Braced.
That way Dead Hard can still be used to save your life, but it wont be consequence free experience.

I'm complaining about the thought processes behind these changes. It can be a change I disagree with, but if I can understand the reasoning behind it and think it fair then that's fine. Maybe, if the person making the changes knows more about the game and can explain it to me, I might even change my mind!!!
Given the past record, it doesn't seem to be the case.
MMR is meaningless because of the cap. It still represents the overall skill level of the player. Right? That's what you were saying in the other thread? Or is it completely meaningless?
MMR isnt meaningless for anyone who isnt a sweating achiever in this game.
For everyone else its actually helpful to finding good matches, for you probably its bad cause sometimes there are not enough equally skilled people on, it seems without the MMR Cap, you would wait for up the half an hour for a game. Do you want this?
But I agree, bHVR should raise the cap again. Im tired of playing vs. sweatlords who has to be matches with me cause nobody else wants to or can.
-
Power descriptions leave a lot to be desired... but its true and it does seem to be missing.
-
These Bloodhound suggestions look very much like mine.
@Emeal said:
Bloodhound is Wraith's Unique Perk and let me tell you, he has been done dirty. Its just a plain bad perk and its does incredibly little for a perk slot. I mean, have you SEEN the Perks Knight has? Philip Ojomo deserves better.
So what I think it needs is that bHVR should add an additional Effect to the Perk.
- Pools of Blood are shown in bright red and can be tracked for 2/3/4 seconds longer than normal.
- Run over Pools of Blood to gain small% movement speed for X/Y/Z seconds each.
- Stacks up to # times.
I think this would really bring Bloodhound into the current meta (maybe even) and there is even some synergy with Haemorrhage addons and Perks, which would be really nice. I'm tired of the gen regression meta.
Now this is pretty anti-mindgame for a perk on the surface, you could easily go tunnel vision . But it could make some mindgames easier if you just build up a few blood stacks and then perform the mindgame. Survivors could perhaps even predict this?
Regardless, bHVR will have to figure out the best speed/stacks combo so the perk isn't overwhelming, but still something you would want to run. Would you prefer an m1 slight speed% choice over gen regression perks?
Thanks for listening everyone and bHVR.
I agree.
-
@VaporLion said:
I think DS is fair how it is right now. Its still a great perk. The only thing that annoys me a bit is that you cant combo it anymore with Head On because the stun duration is too low.
Gee I wonder why bHVR dont want you to combo stun the Killer.
-
Please don't hold your nephew's happiness hostage just because you want to make a point to bHVR. That's so sad.
-
Killer Instinct is from Killer Powers only and bHVR is not into making Perks that destroy Killers Powers.
Imagine playing Legion and 4 players have that perk you want. Its just a bad idea.
-
Knight's Guards are not AI, its a pathfinding system.
Why else you think they have to Yell Out, Fly to the Survivors location and then start running? Its just a system building a path. I have played the Knight for the last 3 Nights and I must say I really enjoy the Killer and I would be very unhappy if they reworked it.
You see you are not supposed to use it to chase a person, rather I use it to Occupy a Survivor. Its like a free incapacitated but the Survivor is running away. You can also use it to flush out survivors and cut them off cause you can see them running around from the Guards.
As for Three Gen'ing sure it works, but it also works on many other Killers. But its not as popular as you think, cause its very boring to do as Killer. I have not done it and if Survivors end up in a Three Gen anyway, its their design not mine honestly. I don't think that 3Gen Knights is optimal
Does that mean Knight is stellar? nah, but hes far from a Rework.
-
Cause you can Wiggle on hook to show the Killer being there.

Wait for the Summer Mid Chapter Patch.

I'm not saying to buff any other perks at all. I'm talking about the introduction of new perks entirely. Something that's not just "do x to get speed boost", something more interactive and fun to use.
Those are the same issues.
