Thanks for taking the time to try it for yourself, I appreciate that a lot

It really is just a war of attrition if you play like this.

bHVR should put SOMETHING in the Survivor HUD that helps with dealing with 3Gens.

Something that informs the other survivors of whats happening.

Skull merchant is really really good at 3gens, and SoloQ survivors are not. But many Killers can do 3Gens if they are bad chaser.

I think @Phasmamain is right, Skull merchant is just the latest offender, this is a problem SoloQ'ers need help to identify and have a strategy to do about.

  • yes, make it Large and to go. (I prefer to eat in my Car, alone.)

  • In response to @Phasmamain, @Brokenbones

Okay so I just tried holding down 3 gens. So I was on a new map and the survivors landed 3 Dead Hard before I got my first hook. So I was like well fug that, so I started patrolling gens, kicking (without any gen reduction perks), sooner or later all the pallets on one side of the map was gone and they were picked out slowly one after one.

It was surprisingly easy, the Survivor team didnt know what to do for sure, idk if bHVR can tell us what they were supposed to do.

    But I ended up with a 3K.

Itsreally powerful, but really boring for me, then again getting DeadHardDenied is also boring, so it was either plague or cholera.

  • You might as well add this effect to Hysteria & Blood Echo then.

Why? because i want the game to evolve and have some more excitement with trials, instead of expecting the same thing over and over.

    You got breakable walls. OOOOoooooOOOOooooo

  • Ill take option 2.

I already argued for it in my own post here:

    @Emeal said:

So Dead Hard is a really good perk, its fun to use and extremely obnoxious for the Killer too. What better Perk to start a flame war over. I mean Dead Hard was already nerfed once, but Survivors recovered and learnt to use it again. Who cares about introductions, AAAA I hate this perk so much, someone else could write this intro better.

    But here is what I find odd about DH is all its benefits;

    1. Negate a Killer Power or Killer Attack
    2. Slow the Killer down with Attack cool down.
    3. Give the Survivor a Speed bonus (6.6m/s) for 1.8 seconds.

On a Successful Dead Hard to killer is left behind wiping his weapon, an attack was negated and Survivor gets speed bonus as well. That like a lot, like not even Sprint Burst negates a hit, and sure you can miss a hit vs a Sprint Burst Survivors but its not as bad as an on hit weapon cooldown. Plus this gets worse for other slower Killers. Dead Hard is like a smorgasbord, compared to an All bran Diet. Yikes. No wonder its prefered.

So my Suggestion really is to change the focus of Dead Hard from its mid-way point between as a hit negation perk and haste perk to make it just a Hit Negation Perk. Basically tone it down to have some more risk and not so great benefits that it overshadows other viable exhaustion perks. This must be the standard, right?

Now bHVR loves to make the game simple (bless them) they consider new gamers and that is great, but it was a mistake to make only one new status effect: Endurance. It actually complicates balance even more, since Endurance is automatic Dead Hard. It works great for being unhooked Styptic Agent and perks like Off The Record, We Gonna Live Forever and Soul Guard. Because you are either protecting from Tunneling or making a Heroic Rescue on another Survivor which requires two Survivors. That stuff is cool with me. But on Dead Hard its getting out of hand, Dead Hard isnt negated by Conspicuous Actions or require the help of anyone else.

Now lets say Endurance had a little brother, Lets call it ""BRACED"" (Get it? cause your are braced for a hit.) Braced does exactly the same as Endurance does, but it does not give a speed boost for a hit you take. This would solve any issues I have with Dead Hard as it would force a Dead Hard user to become more dependent on the pallet situation while also being fun to use for Survivors, at least what I think is what Survivors value the most of the three DH benefits. To sum up leave Endurance for anti-tunneling plus heroic saves and let Dead Hard have braced.

Added bonus a New Status Effect Braced could also be used to balance other Perks, Items etc. with Endurance that are also too good. A smaller tinier type of Endurance just makes sense to have as an option and I think Dead Hard calls for it now.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk on Dead Hard, I cant wait to hear your feedback on these changes and I hope to hear from Survivors who are open to this- If you have questions about something that didnt make sense, please ask, ill be happy to make it easier to understand if I can.

Hope you have a great day.

TL:DR: Change Dead Hard to not give speedboosts from negated Killer hits, centralizing DH's Strength as a Hit Negation Exhaustion Perk and not as both hit negation and Haste Exhaustion Perk. This will make DH less able to protect the pallet economy and give Survivors a chance to just make it to the pallet, forcing pallet breaking and thus less resources saved by the Survivors and put it on par with normal (non-DH) gameplay. Cool Beans.

Its not really that strong of a nerf, it just ensures that DH play makes the gameplay progress. Pallets/windows or smarter play being a requirement of a good Dead Hard play in the future. No more DH to save resources, especially when its such a good time waster of the Killer in the right hands. Preserving the fun and normalizing gameplay is a good thing and a good compromise.

Basically makes gens regress super fast the moment they are kicked

And you can't just gen tap to counter it because the Overcharge skillcheck is there, adding more risk for the survivor

    yeah how fast

Potential energy has some use but can’t win the war of attrition against Cob Overcharge reliably

Well I dont use those perks so I would not know. Whats does that combo give?

  • maybe that Vitto perk that lets you charge up?

  • This is why I run Deja Vu as Survivor.

  • @BlueHorkew said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/366849/why-i-think-bhvr-should-cut-dh-in-two-again

Reducing the distance survivors gain from successful DHs is really not a bad suggestion for a nerf. I don't know how the numbers work with your suggestion, but i will give you what i know and discussed in other thread.

SB- while its hard to measure the distance gain from the killer because of the variables gives close to a 5m distance for survivors (can be more or less, there are many variables at play)

DH- On normal M1 gives the survivor close to 12m distance, on a killer with STBL the survivor gets 9m. I think because DH presents more risks than SB, DH should still even after the nerf give more distance than SB. How much would people think is fair and if the survivor will need a haste effect or not needs to be seen when you find the number people think is ok.

If they don't want to change that i would suggest something like a 0.5 second window where the survivor can't do actions like vaulting or drop pallets after they DH, giving killers a bigger buffer to hit a survivor if they fail a DH

Dead Hard does not present more risk, both players will get the same amount of Risk and they have the same chance to make a good play or go down. Both Perks are just used differently, DH providing so much freedom of when to use should also be accounted for in comparison, We already know DH is used more and Killers are fed up, this is obvious.

On the notion of Skill, its okay to have a Perk that requires high skill to use. But its completely unreasonable that a high skill dead hard player can get the high rewards consistently in so many games. Imagine that having a a game and one perk that requires a specific amount of skill, will dramatically screw over and come out better than other players who don't. This is really bad and needs to be toned down. it Overshadows all other perks, it has to be normalised.

Again this is why my suggestion makes DH more reliable on the survivor resources so the Survivor can get distance by attack cooldown AND an eventual pallet-breaking or window navigation, instead of getting haste. Like it or not STBL is not used every match either.

If they don't want to change that i would suggest something like a 0.5 second window where the survivor can't do actions like vaulting or drop pallets after they DH, giving killers a bigger buffer to hit a survivor if they fail a DH.

I think this idea is really bad, making a window play using a perk is the specific combination of skill, luck and map awareness that I think we can allow with Dead Hard. These plays are also much easier to counter as Killer as Survivor is stuck in a vault animation and cannot activate DH when in that. Furthermore this seems to be the core joys of DH too, if you look at most videos on Dead Hard this is the apex adrenaline moments.

To completely remove those from the game would be a very bad move.

  • @ZeroEthics said:

They already did something to address tunneling. They gave everyone basekit BT. What did survivors do with it? Did they use it as intended to make distance and not be tunneled? No, they weaponized it for a free body block, then still come here and whine about being tunneled.

You want to avoid being tunneled, learn to loop better, put in the hours to learn, and stop asking BHVR to fix your lack of skill. I mean that in a general sense, not at YOU directly good sir.

I completely agree with this, expect I think base kit BT was implemented to help Camping and Tunneling.

which is does, well if you dont use it to take hits.

I see what you're getting at with referencing Eruption. However, with Eruption, the survivor literally couldn't do anything but unhook. With Decisive, it would only take away the power from the killer, and for only 10 seconds. The killer could still down a survivor and hook them. There's a difference between what Eruption did and what I think should be changed about Decisive. Also, I know that Decisive is still a decent perk. However, it could be alot better than it is while also not being overpowered.

Survivors could still run to another Gen for 25seconds. So its the same as Eruption.

Overall. I think what they are suggesting here is giving too much on one perk. DS was already meta once, We don't need it again.

  • Its simple, MMR works to a degree, but it has to make a Queue at some point. So if it cant find someone to match you with, would you prefer waiting 30min or get a within 1 min?

Take off all the pressure, just relax and try to stay alive as long as you can. Thats my best advice. People have no right to get mad at you for learning. Knowledge and Skill will come to you in time.

With survivors having +100% bps bonus too meaning that there isn't exactly an issue with too many survivors playing the game out there.

Actually this is the other way around, a +100% bps bonus to Survivor means there are many Killers and bHVR would advice you to play Survivor. most of the time, Killers get favoured cause there are fewer of them.

If you like you can ask for someone to give free training in https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/categories/looking-for-players

  • @gilgamer said:

maybe a killer that is fun to play would be a good start. Tbh though its pretty obvious that they need to stop focusing on new killers and focus on new ways to play the game instead. The same gen format has gotten really old and stale and there's only so many ways you can make unique killers around the gen defense mode.

What does a fun Killer play like to you?

Is map prevention always going to be disabled when there is increased rates of certain maps?

If so, it would be really nice to have some form of info in game to know when it isn’t enabled. Even just a notification in the news section would be great.

this might make sense to do.

  • Skull merchant is missing from that drawing, I think you really need to draw her and her hips for ... you know clarity's sake.

  • If only Survivors could remove the drone. Hmm.

What if Survivors equipped Deja Vu and didn't 3Gen themselves?

Its worth considering if the Survivors didnt just make a mistake here, Sure survivors might be good at looping and rushing gens, but how good are they when it comes to picking which gens to finish? Most are really bad.

A Good Strategy vs Skull Merchant is doing all Gens a little bit, it forces her to use the drones to be spread thin.

Wow...just wow. You Killers really just have an excuse for everything. I love that it's okay for Killers to make all these terrible suggestions for Survivors to try to counter their stuff, but when legitimately good advice is given to you, every excuse under the sun comes out. This game really just makes yall miserable people.

They are not excuses DH validation is just really bad.

the hooked survivor will go a down

    Interesting ...

Do you need help explaining what that mean or did you figure it out on your own?

  • Lets put some more words on this:

Try using phrases like, When he does X it makes you feel Y.

  • @Tostapane said:

1 the changes that they did to the maps were AWFUL. It's literally impossible to use your power since devs not only added a lot of trees (rip also killers like blight, wesker, billy and oni that rely on a clear sight and need to calculate the object hitboxes in order to not get stucked into them), but they also improved the loops by adding more bushes with huge hitboxes and increase the height of said loops, making them projectile proof (I challenge you to use a ranged killer in the red forest now...)

2 perks are mediocre for both sides (only exception is bloodrush and even in this case it's situational and only coordinated SWF will get the maximum effect from it)

3 the new killer is AWFULLY bad, both aesthetically and gameplay wise (perhaps the worst killer of the entire game actually speaking since she's a pure m1 killer: she has no antiloop potential, no mobility and has a VERY limited instadown potential that depend if the survivors are enough dumb to stay in a loop guarded by a drone, which it can be disabled)

    @[Deleted User] said:

Big agree on the map changes. Way too much random clutter. Not sure how much hope there is in this regard because it has been a consistent feedback from players with maps for a while and the new map team keeps cranking out maps with way too much random clutter. I find myself saying "Oh I guess I don't have a power this game" more and more these days. It's great that the map looks cool the first time I load into it. But then I have to actually play on it for the rest of my DbD "career" and I no longer care how it looks.

The killer is weak and really annoying to play against. Great at making games last forever and not much else. Stop designing killers around area control. Stop. Please. We're begging you.

Hard disagree on the Map changes, finally there are maps in which you can actually sneak and hide as a Killer. This is a huge bonus.

Not every map is for every Killer and that is alright. Some do better on indoor maps and others not. Perfectly fine.

  • My heart is with you, however things must be done fair and balanced... and constructive. I personally think the best option is the keep the part Survivors like the most, the negating of a hit and then remove the speed aspects of the perk. Solidifying it as not both a speed perk and hit negation perk but as the latter. This is turn will require DH users to use windows and pallets better which I think is a fair trade off from the height the perk is at right now. 20% global usage rate.

  • Sounds too much like a I'm being chased, go do gens Perk. Which the game already does for you if you look at the Survivor HUD.

  • Sure, that could be a fun Perk or Offering. Like Shroud of Binding.

  • If you thought losing the ability to play Survivor for 25 seconds with incapacitated was annoying, Then try having your power disabled for 10 seconds because you played the game the right way. If anything was to be learned from the Nerf of Eruption was that making players unable to use their abilities is a bad idea. So why would we ever think taking away Killer's Power is a good idea.

I am extremely against this idea because:

    1. DS is not a get out of Power Free Card.
    2. Run to a pallet.
    3. Its okay if a Killer counters a perk of yours or feels minimal effects of it.
    4. When used together with multiple people you can use it block a Killers Power for 40 seconds.

DS was nerfed cause it was used offensively and used with Head On to stun-lock the killer for a long time.

It is now an Anti-Tunnel Perk but it still requires some skill to use, and that is perfectly fine. There are no get out of Jail Free Cards.

  • They didn't nerf Eruption because of 3 gens. They nerfed Eruption because of incapacitated was just a bad idea on a random perk.

    image.png

If you are worried about 3Gen Situations, use Deja Vu.

  • @Tostapane said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/367118/some-tips-to-counter-dh

You forgot the only REAL counter for that perk: hitting the unhookes survivor and tunnel him (deep wound = no dead hard)

Good God you are right, if I just tunnel more. Ill never have to deal with Dead Hard .(so much atleast)

  • Killers with voice lines or laughing elevate the experience both as Killer and Survivor in my opinion.

If bHVR added voice lines and laughs to Skull Merchant that would make her SO GREAT imo.

Trickster is a good example of talking and laughing. Wesker is just good at talking trash at Survivors, hes the best.

  • I am also very perplexed where bHVR thinks Leverage fits in, what builds they expect me to make?

Like the game is over before I get value, WHy? How is that supposed to be useful?

I wish bHVR could come down and explain it, how its going to help me as 1/4 perk slots.

Whew. Maybe take a break if you're so entrenched that you're celebrating visual issues on a map update

That is hardly fair, visual issues other places in this game are celebrated elsewhere. It could be a new feature to make the game more immersed and mysterious.

  • @Gamall said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3364892#Comment_3364892

Ok I understand now but I think bhvr could solve the issue easily just pausing the chain hunt if Pinhead is nearby the box for more than X seconds?

Yeah but that would make standing nearby with insidious to Lure Survivors be detrimental.

I think my solution is least detrimental,

A pinhead player would know not to step over it, then they can still do ambush Pinhead, but they cant stand on it to guard it.

  • It means Pinhead's would have a much harder time protecting the Box, one step too close and the game progresses normally.

Its a suggestion of how bHVR could solved this issue. You understand now? Ill edit my comment to clarify.

    @CharBurger said:

I think he means when the pinhead player walks over the box it should automatically be picked up instead of giving the option to

    Untitled Image
  • To my understanding when Pinhead hits the box out of the hands of Survivor using Franklins they automatically pick it up right?

Then bHVR could make it so that when Pinhead picks up the box on contact or walking over, yea?

I don't think that would hurt Pinhead players that much and the BoxHostage Game is pretty unfun for both sides.

Yes and it got nerfed despite that and now you don't see it so often? Are you not happy about that? Then why complain?

  • Good. about time the Maps were in the Killer's favor for once.

Maybe its a good thing Survivors need to be careful where they run to.

  • @Xernoton said:

Obviously because it had synergy with Distressing and Monitor and Abuse on Wesker. Completely broken combo of 3 perks that can almost rival 1 aura perk.

    This^

I just hope they change those perks up so they can still compete with other perks. I already didn't use most of these and they they are nerfed even more? why would I?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3364827#Comment_3364827

I mean server validating can work in the survivor can also work in your favor, it happens a lot ping, lag or delay can create a lot of issues.

What do you want a survivor to do if the killer is laggy and they get hits while vaulting, dropping pallets or grabs that from your perspective were unfair?

Yeah, sure that might be bad. They can dodge the lobby if their ping is bad. but mine is always at like 37 but the Survivors have 4 people each with individual Server Validation shenanigans and favors and unfavors and it always ends up getting them out and away from me again and again. But despite this it still always happens even after the Survivor spins around 5 times as I try to bait it out. I'm tired of it. Please just give me an exhaustion TR I don't want to deal with this perk being so powerful every game anymore.

  • This List is poor advice and it might work in writing, but not in reality and it wont make Killers like this perk or have fun.

    1. What if I have a poor memory? Its easy for Survivor Mains to remember the Killers 4 perks I cant remember what perks the Survivors use, In fact it all blurs together. You basically have to pretend every survivor have Dead Hard, which is bad. bHVR could give Killers some QoL changes that remembers Survivors perks when you encounter them. But I dont see any support for that.
    2. I had a Survivor last night, had to waste 10 seconds on her and she still got Dead Hard. It does not work, the second she sees me attack she presses the button and the Server just validates her. Yes, the Server validates non-lunges. so your point there is a untrue. There is nothing that can be done, they always get an escape. Plus where is my Server validated Killer grabs?
    3. Your third point just repeats the second. Same problem, Server Validates them anyway.
    4. Ah yes, the Dead zones which bHVR have almost removed from the game and the pallet amount is still out of this world. The only time a Survivor runs into a dead zone is when another survivor has rarely screwed over their team-mates by dropping all their pallets. It dont matter most of the time, "one hit sorry Server Validated the DH."
    5. STBFL what if I don't want to use that perk, another meta perk. Give me some better perk options for dealing with DH yesterday.
    6. Not all Killers have animations that can fake out a DH, and most have Powers that stop them right down. Losing distance. Not great.

In the end DH is a press a button, get server to validate, you get distance AND you take a hit and the Killer gets nothing is slowed, plus t-bags and death threats in post game chat. I think its absolutely horrific that bHVR would give such a Powerful Perk to Survivors who then get to use that min 8 or more times in a match with 4 Survivors. There is no other perk for Survivors that wastes the Killers time that much.

The best solution would be to cut the benefits and keep what Survivors like about the Perk, like I discussed here:

Ahh, i am sorry for calling you a douchebag. But saying that i am telling sweet lie really triggered me for some reason, i am sorry.

I don't think perks should be nerfed for being overused or popular, i would never ask for perks like Pain Res, Jolt, BBQ or lethal to be nerfed even tho they are on the top 5 most used perks for killers.

Either way, i shouldn't have reacted like that. I hope we can put this water under the bridge.

Fair enough, I should also have called your claim untrue instead to distance you from the discussion.

I think @Phasmamain wants BBQ nerfed tho. so those perks can get nerfed next patch for all we know right now.

  • I'd like to see stats on how much BBQ is being used and even then, I dont think players have much of a problem with it.

Like I don't see at least 5 threads a day on BBQ, Dead Hard on the other hand... the people are not happy.

I'm not a douchebag for telling you tha yoru argument about perk changes are not true. Please say it more clear, bHVR is committed to dealing with the meta so that every match isn't the same. Which is good cause those perks are really annoying seeing every single match.
