A killer whos power is to completely denial up to 4 areas in the game...

Killers using said power to shut down 3-4 gens that are next to each other.

No one could have predicted this? Like... really?

They probably knew and it was on the list of changes to be made.

  • There is a concede option,

Please consult our "Get out of Game" Specialist. Jump in and our of a Locker 10 times and the Specialist should be with you shortly.

Just to be clear, they have stated while reading the killer concepts they will not implement communist created content like that directly. They might take inspiration, sure, but even then you will probably never know if they used your ideas or if it’s coincidental.

as to game mechanics, game features etc, that’s something different, and with these you might actually get them to listen/implement them as long as they see it fitting and it gets good community approval I guess

they will not implement communist created content like that directly.

bHVR are capitalists after all, its only natural. 😝

  • If you have a full killer concept use: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/categories/Creations

if you have other suggestions use: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/categories/suggestions

But bHVR rarely gives feedback as that would take too long, we all want to be that ideas guy, but there is not any recognition for the most part, being a forum guy is a shadowy experience really.

  • If she had a 5th drone, then idd have no concerns at all.

  • I'm optimistic about all the changes, expect I think the Skull Merchant needs a 5th drone so she always has a Power in chase. regardless of how organized the opponents are. Its just great to see bHVR take action.

While yes, this also puts things like previous released killers that still haven´t gotten any rework, because the devs wanted to wait and see, into perspective.

SM should have never been released with the concept of locking down 3 gens. Since its a terribly boring way to play the game.

SM should have never been released with the concept of locking down 3 gens.

Hard Disagree. Not only would this be impossible, because nobody can predict everything, but also you need to make mistakes to get things right anyway. Failure is a beautiful thing cause you learn and improve.

    @Tsulan said:

What i´m more surprised is the speed in which they took this decision.

I mean, devs said that they didn´t want to make any... how do i put it nice... "quick balance decisions on new killers" anymore. Yet, this was announced 10 days after the SM released. I´m getting Freddy vibes here.

I don't think that that this is a 10 days decision. it seems unreasonable that bHVR would do something that quick. Nor do bHVR seem to design with the worst players in mind, rather to make a fun game. So when a Killer like Skull Merchant is gearing up for release the values are already relaxed and a theory is being developed on what is wrong and solutions then need to be tested, developed and released. I don't know for sure ofc, but that explains how they could seemingly crank it out in 10 days.

I have been told by an employee I talk to that the PTB isn't used as much for making sure the Release is flawless, but more to get a head start on bug fixing, taking care of the serious issues and laying the groundwork for balance discussions, theory and solutions to those problems. Its not unreasonable that a list is formed for Skull Merchant of things that needs to get fixed and bHVR is simply chugging out the list right now. You agree this is natural for a Live Service Game?

I'd love to hear a deep explanation from the Community Managers as a more official telling on when problems starts becoming more apparent and what solutions are being cooked over time as feedback comes in.

We always had these "the devs don't care about the game" stuff around here, but since the last chapter, this has become a fever all around. The apocalypse horsemen went out of their way to say the game was over, that the devs don't care about feedback, and that they would never again play this game because of the 3 gen and the boring killer situation.

And we had the "scream" change that destroyed the gameplay (as some people were saying):

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/YCSIWXHIRZ4B/captura-de-tela-2023-03-17-124548.jpg

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/W9L4V8UBU3AF/captura-de-tela-2023-03-17-124649.jpg

Now that the devs actually took in the feedback (even tho they always have) will the apocalypse horsemen create threads apologizing for the hysteria? Maybe a "thank you devs for listening to our feedback"? Or even a simple: "oh, they really care after all"? Or will they pretend nothing happened?

What do you guys think? Have we finally overcome "the end of the world" for now? 🤐

They wont, they will simply reshape what good as happend into another negative point. Lemme demonstrate:

""Wow the buff Skull Merchant, but leave Sadako and Twins in the dirt???""

Its an endless cycle, bHVR can never be vindicated or praised for their attention, no its either spin or move on.

  • 3 Gen isn't an illegal strategy mate, its part of the game, like Camping, Tunneling, Looping, Teabagging, Slugging, unhooking your teammates poorly etc. Skull Merchants still need to be able to do basic Killer functions, but if they are out of control, it has to be changed. Its part of the experience, for better or for worse.

So they wont just nerf Skull Merchant into the group to make it impossible for her to 3Gen, like dont expect that.

Don't forget there is a high possibility Call of Brine and Overcharge will be on the cutting board for the Summer Perk Update too.

  • I'm so worried about the balance of this game beyond the novelty of the experience.

Imagine a new SoloQ player vs a group of Killers on Discord, my God.

I'm way too lazy to explain what I'd want to do with Freddy, so here's a video that basically explains how I'd change him.

    https://youtu.be/CobeRAK2aYI

This rework seems solid, the Dream Objects part is pretty good and Dream pallets are my fav addon.

  • The devs are fine with players stuck twiddling their thumbs while bleeding out over 4 minutes

This is the problem the "Mori Update" is set to fix, bHVR is working on it.

    You are very very impaitient.

  • I see Dead Hard in every game, its undeniable that DH is a popular choice and part of the meta.

I think bHVR should start with removing the speed gained from negated hits in DH, the fact that a player removes an attack is powerful enough.

Given that game breaking and overpowered, on average, actually means "any perk that has any effect or causes me to think on how to deal with it as Survivor or Killer", I would claim otherwise.

Okay??? you realize everybody isn't you here, right? So by your thinking you would have kept Eruption in as it was?

  • @AMOGUS said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3368063#Comment_3368063

Nope, that's also a bad idea because that leads to perks being relatively weak overall and forgettable.

I dont think I want all perks to be game breaking and overpowered. Maybe you do Mr. SUS.

  • I have lost quite a few 3Gens as Skull merchant, sure I might be able to hold them but not forever. Does not seem like such an easy win as you say it is to me. However what strategies HAVE you tried so far?

    Make a list.

  •  They've nerfed every possible survivor perks that they had...

So I guess the Midchapter Summer Perk Rework Patch will be empty huh=?

  • As Killer I have not lobby dodged in years, but I see it often Survivors fill in and then some leave. Happens every day I play.

  • Lets take a count then, I play as Killer and based on my experience with the game there are 44 which is about 40% of all Killer Perks which I believe would be extremely niche, just bad or detrimental to my build compared to other options.

bHVR is far far FAR behind on working on Perks to make them all viable choices.

  • Only if you win too often, its fine otherwise.

  • Yeah I would like to see how often Adrenaline comes in clutch.

It is almost entirely RNG. The shrine is and always has been randomly generated, the only exceptions are when perks are required for a current Tome challenge. In those cases, the perks are guaranteed to appear in the shrine for a week.

Outside of that, it's all down to chance. There's 102 unique Survivor perks and 90 unique Killer perks that can show up in the shrine, but only two slots for either side each week. That means any given perk only has a roughly 2% chance to appear each week. Since some have been in the game much longer and there were fewer perks back then, they've had a lot of appearances. But these days, the chances are very low in comparison.

The shrine was designed back when there were only a few chapters, not so much for hundreds of perks. If you have any suggestions to improve it, please feel free to share!

I got one for sure. So there is a handful of perks that are good for beginners, I really think that you design a Perk that is really really good for a beginner it should be in a special always available category.

Windows of Opportunity, Empathy and Visionary comes to mind. Solid and essential to learn the game. They should come at a heavy discount in shards to incentivize new players.

Or even better, you should overtime replace their perk with a new character perk and release the essential one to the free pool for free.

That is why I said they need to hear the community, but not listen to the community. And even if I don't agree with the "They take their time" part and still thinks they are listening to the community a little too much right now, I agree with you.

In fact, after rewatching the video I posted it really surprise me how well the situation he described with the KI community can be applied to the current state of the "entitled" part of the DbD community as well.

Oh so you mean "listen" as in meaning to hear and do or obey? yayaya, we dont want want that from bHVR.

We are the FEEDBACK, not the directions.

To actually provide a solid response when Im not sleep deprived (I had been working on a college essay with like 4 hours of sleep when I responded, but now I am better rested):

I never said that you said it was "just Survivors", if you actually look at posts Ive made, youll know that I use " ", - -, * *, and a lot of commas to highlight points that I am making. You can go through others post I have made and see it for yourself, I hold on shame in it since to me it is normal and 95% of my posts are boring for the average person to read through when I use my normal writing style, sometimes I do write things differently because most people find it boring but most follow the same style.

Quotations markers can be used a literary tool more than just quoting things, since I can bring implied information or hypotheticals with quotations markers that were not present in the original post since I am able to use them as a literary tool and stretch the rules... or to simplify it, it is my writing style that I use a lot (since I am college and my writing style holds over to normal life), quotes from me can be exact quotes, near quotes, interpretations, and assumptions since such is require for the formatting I use often (MLA, APA, and ASA).

I do not blame you for interpreting and assuming what I said was directed with malice or in a negative way, since my writing style is different than what you will see in most cases, considering the fact that I am a lot more formal with things (again, feel free to check out the other posts I have made and see for yourself). And often I do tend to forget that what I can say can be interpreted a different way, so my apologies.

Also when you leave a question in the air for anyone on a public forum, expect people, anyone, to respond because it is a public forum. If you want to keep a discussion private, then go ahead and move the discussion to a private place. You asked a question, I answered and provide a perspective of looking at it using interpretations and hypotheticals. I never accused you of anything directly nor was that my intention.

I'm not going to preface every impossible question to my question in my question to another user. Maybe some sleep should help you, if you don't understand why that isn't a reasonable request. There are reasonable assumptions and unreasonable assumptions. You are telling me even though you direct a tirade about "just survivors", generalizing and hating to me from one single question I asked someone else, that I am then supposed to believe it isn't about me? HARDLY. None I showed this back and forth to has taken that direction.

I mean, you left the topic to begin with, but alright.

I gave you an answer to the question in my original reply, they are toxic individuals, they do not care about what side you are playing or what side they are playing, if something happens that they do not like, they take it out on others.

That's it, that's the answer to your question, that's why people feel the need to send threats and such (even if it is pointless).

you left the topic to begin with,

Nope. I asked a Question to another user (not you, but Dreamnomad)

I gave you an answer to the question in my original reply,

You attempted to answer it by placating me with irrelevant points and going off topic, accusations of moral character and a misunderstanding of the question not posed to you. I did not say "just survivors" and I did not suggest that the blame is only on Survivors. Then you accuse me of generalizing AND HATING survivors, What??? I didn't even say it was just survivors. You assumed that, straight off the bat.

If you are done with the assumption game you run here, then maybe we can talk about the social influence Survivors have with the weight of death threats and have a productive conversation instead. (yes, it was a rhetorical question.)

If we are going to pull out statements like that, then in all fairness, I never specifically stated that you do it…

If you want a solid response to what we both said though, the answer is that what we both said is heavily implied, let’s not be around the bush here and pretend that we don’t judge others, it is simple human nature to judge and it would be a lie to say we never do. We can only minimize what times we do actually do it though.

Fairness??? what in the world. What sentence did I send that "heavily implies" that? and how is that a fair interpretation? lmao.

I didn't even mention the words you used, like come on, How about you stay on topic?

  • Eruption was nerfed because the incapacitated effect restricted players too much.

I think bHVR is fine with Killers being different and having different strategies. Sure there are chase Killers and there are trap Killers and yes the loud majority of this community want Killers that give sick chases. They dont want sassy drone mommy who looks at her phone instead. The Skull merchant does not restrict players, what she does is that she traps you by patrolling hard.

Now is she really good with Call of Brine and Overcharge? Sure, but those perks might get changed with the next big Summer Perk change patch, without them it comes down to Survivor ability to Cooperate.

  • @Batusalen said:

You just need to take a look at this forum to see this is a horrible idea.

Streamers, no matter how good they are at the game are still players. Not game designers, not programmers. And there are plenty of good reason for not listening to the playerbase directly (because one thing is hearing what people says, other thing is listening and take for granted every single word they say, something I think BHVR should have learn when they nerfed Freddy).

In fact, I think BHVR should stop listening to the community all that much and dig deeper in the real problems of the game. Maybe they can learn a thing or two on how Iron Galaxy do (did) balance:

    https://youtu.be/ks4eZoG94Vs?t=4668

1:17:49 to 1:21:40 if the video don't start in the precise moment.

In fact, I think BHVR should stop listening to the community all that much and dig deeper in the real problems of the game.

This is a awful idea, but a well argued point, except bHVR does not do robotically what the Community asks for. They take their (sweet) time, look at the numbers and evaluate the performance. There is nothing wrong with looking at what the community thinks tho, useful things might come of it.

Like I think DH is too strong so I try to be constructive and give good critique, I know bHVR heard me, but they may have the numbers to prove me wrong so they wont use that idea, that is fine. But bHVR needs to know what we think of the game so they can make changes to fix the problem, even if what we ask for is bad and wrong.

Through playing the game for 5K hours over the last five years.

Ah, but I have 6K hours over the last 6 years. I got you now.

  • Great, then I can finally use the famous Mass Effect Quote.

The Council can kiss my Ass.

Anyway what makes you think those streamers have more viable ideas than the rest of the community? I am a large consumer, I have been with this game since 2016. I have more hours than most Streamers, Do I get invited to this 'council'?

What makes you think that bHVR isn't already in contact with "the masses" enough?

  • The perks you think will save your life in this game. They wont, they will be nerfed soon enough if they are that good.

  • Tunneling and Camping is the only way to avoid Dead Hard to most.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

Most people who send death threats to people who use them are not "just Survivors". Realistically, most people who play the game to begin with play both sides (I think people forget this). Ive been sent death threats by Killers and Survivors, Ive been cyberstalked, DOXed, and DDOSed many times, I do not agree with the idea that it is "just Survivors".

Another thing, is that they are just toxic individuals in general, generalizing and hating a group of people over something horrible that only a smaller portion of the community does is horrible idea. Negativity bias is definitely a hard thing to move away from but it is worth doing for your physical and mental health.

Where did I say it was "just Survivors"?

Where did I generalize and hate a group of people over something horrible that only a smaller portion of the community did?

  • @Dreamnomad said:

Literally NO killer strat is "illegal". What are you even talking about?? You want to camp? Nothing stopping you. You want to tunnel? Nothing stopping you. You want to slug? Nothing stopping you. You want to 3 gen? Nothing stopping you. None of these are reportable offenses. Unless you are hacking or using 3rd party software or you are preventing the game from progressing for an extended time (IE body blocking someone w/o hitting them) then you are pretty much free to play the game however you like. It's no secret the developers don't particularly like certain killer playstyles like camping/tunneling/slugging so they give survivors some options to combat those playstyle, but they haven't actually done anything to stop killers from doing it.

If those Killer strats are not illegal why do Survivors feel justified to use death threats against killers who do?

  • and how do you know this?

  • @Pulsar said:

You can play almost every single Killer at a high level and do perfectly fine in 95% of your games.

Killers have received significant buffs in the last year.

People are upset that SM and Knight seemingly must hold 3-gens if played optimally. I've actually found Knight to be fairly oppressive in chases, but SM is most certainly not.

If you are playing against meta Survivors and you refuse to play optimally or use optimal perks, you should not expect to win and we should not rebalance the game to allow you to win.

Likewise, Potential Energy is a horrible perk and Prove really isn't good.

You can play almost every single Killer at a high level and do perfectly fine in 95% of your games.

What does doing perfectly fine mean? What is the end score?

  • I dont think bHVR will increase the range as the low range is supposed to expose you visually to the Killer, starting a chase.

This seems to be the point of the perk.

  • The Trapper is literally a Miner.

  • Well bHVR cant be blamed, the feedback took a loop of "wow new DH suks" to "new DH is still bad"

but they are aware that DH has risen in usage again most likely.

I hope when they do finally get around to changing it, they will start by removing the Burst of speed you get from Negated Killer attacks. As it is able to SAVE the Survivors pallets in ways than no other survivor without DH could. It would be interesting to see how DH would operate like that.

  • I would love to see Dead Hard as it is but without the Burst of Speed. It would be way better it to just be a Survivor Power to block a hit instead of block a hit AND Sprint Burst.

  • Why not Emperor Palpatine?

  • More Killers like Plague? so more Killers with the second part of her Power locked behind a Survivor's action?

    No Thanks.

  • Imagine not knowing people have asked for MMR in DbD for a long time and then come on here to claim nobody asked for it.

Only in SWF if whole team takes it. And at that point BNP does the same but much better. Useless perk

Nah, it just helps. But ofc if 4 people all take its gonna be stronger.. like come on ok.

  • Its a perk good vs. a 3 Gen Killer.

Good thing we aint got any of those.

  • Meh, the game is designed about getting about 2 Kills. However most Killers play like they get 4K or Loss.

  • You know why? Its because that two problem are not equally prevalent.

    Welcome to Reality.
