with Twins sure, a rework probably wouldnt make anyone that mad. Her kit is flawed in concept. But twins was never really as popular billy as was. Eventhough she's rarer, most players are more excited to see billy than twins.
The foundation for a great killer is still there, it was built upon poorly.
If, in theory, dark souls was too strict with its inputs, it would also not be as good as it is currently. But wouldn't you agree that instead of saying "bad game, change concept", the best solution would be to make them less strict to hit the sweetspot of difficulty?
Thats the situation were in. Make billy less punishing, and it's perfect.
Thats why theres such an uproar about this change: instead of going in that direction, theyre removing the possibilty for players to bridge that gap with skillful application of these addons themselves.

If an addon is overperforming, I don't see what you expect them to do. Besides I heard alot of Hillbillys in this chat saying they love "hard gameplay" so that would be exactly what you want.

First: you say its bad design, i say its intended design
second:also billy does have easy mechanics?! chainsaw goe Brrrrrrr! just that they have more nuance to them, same as rolling in Darksouls you cant spam rolls in DS and win !? you have to time them in accordance to a enemy attacks, same with billy if you just rev your chainsaw and expect to land a hit no wonder u suck with billy, timing and when to use your chainsaw is key.
third: but according to most, you are the minority. most people consider hilly billy a very fun killer to play against. you are literally one of the only people in this forum for the billy nerf, your are contradicting yourself
your are one the few people to keep happy?

Yeah, this is something we hear a lot here. But do you have some studies to support that claim? besides your personal experience or if you are that streamer dude who only gets people coming in to throw roses as him-

A full Power rework takes a long time to make, We dont want Twins to end up like Freddy did.

If Dead Hard was fine, why didnt bHVR find nothing wrong with it when we encouraged them to take a look at it?

have you heard of the deagle? the gun thats celebrated for requiring a lot raw skill along with good gamesense? I personally still suck with it, eventhough i regularly use it., and i already have 1.8k hrs invested
Its objectively mediocre balance wise but fun as hell to use, prolly due to the potential lethality. Kind of reminds me of a certain killer.
hard is not a synonym for bad.
Billy is the darks souls killer, dont like dark souls, thats fine, there are a ton of other great options. But why would you want to take dark souls away from the few veterans it entertains?
lmao. Dark souls is the worst example you could use cause I know that game like my own hands.
First. hard is not a synonym for bad, but it certainly depends on how hard. Hillbilly certainly is outside any standard at this point.
Seconds. Dark souls have incredibly easy mechanics, there are no slide around a bush to get increased damage.
third. We certainly have to rework a Killer at some point. Besides like so many have told me in this thread, you can just play a different killer when that happens, yourself.
Should we keep Twins like they are forever cause it makes a few people happy? No this is a game, for many people and if the power is just too bad or too old. Just can it and move on. Its so simple. I used to Main old Freddy, I didnt bat a eye over that.

It takes significantly less than 100 hours to get a basic control of the chainsaw. I've literally taught people within a day how to control it in a basic sense.
How long does it take without a personal trainer? plus how long should it take before a rework is considered.

You're not gonna be remotely good at AWPing in CS in 5 hours. That doesn't mean the AWP needs to be nerfed.
Im certain if CS made a gun and people didnt get kills with it until after using it for 100h, then they would admit they made a mistake. but in DbD land you guys think that cause for celebration. (its not)

I guess I still don't really understand why you think that having a high skill floor on a killer is unhealthy and justifies a full rework - if that's even your point, I really can't tell.
I have explained this a few times now.
Bad product design. You cant have many people enjoy a product if a high skill floor gatekeeps them from enjoying them, a high skill ceiling is fine. But if you make a Killer insufferable to play as, its a really bad idea. bHVR would not create a similar killer these days.

That's just how he is at this point. It's balanced, if not weak leaning. And the "kill rate of X" concept is literally the fallacy I described earlier.
There's nearly 30 killers in this game. Nurse and huntress are incredibly easy in comparison. It's not a bad thing to have a difficult killer, especially if he's easily counterable as he is now. If you remove the skill element, which is DIRECTLY tied to speed, you get a worse blight, and a much less fun one at that. Just as much as some people enjoy hiding and sneaking around, some people enjoy chase. Billy's the epitome skill interaction in chase with double engravings, and you have to invest a literal job's worth of time to get to the point where he can be considered "oppressive".
Like, he wouldn't be more fun, he's just going to be a loud wraith. Basekit movement speed billy is ungodly bad, and even at the current speed of double engravings, he's STILL really easy to keep away. It's just going to be boring at that point.
That is still bad product design. bHVR really ought to packup that idea of keeping a Killer being insufferable to play as just because someone says "It's not a bad thing to have a difficult killer" is really bad. Luckily for us they dont make Killers anymore that are insufferable to play as, they have well designed powers you can easily use and that is why Hillbilly deserves a rework instead of life support in death while being bad to play as.
A high skill ceiling? Sure you can have it, but there has to be standards for mechanical requirements to play a Killer and billy is way off.

I'm really not sure what you're trying to tell me here, but I am a former Billy main I'm well aware of the steep learning curve compared to everyone else and the various issues surrounding Billy. In fact the learning curve is why I even chose to spend a lot of time with him in the first place. I think having killers with high skill ceilings and still floors is healthy because it gives good options. You want purely mechanical killer to grind and get good at? Billy/blight. Want a killer with simple mechanics that also has a high skill ceiling? Nurse, huntress, etc. If Billy was any more simple to play I think that would absolutely ruin him. If you don't want a killer you don't have to grind and get good at , then don't play him. Play any other killer. That's all I'm going to say on that subject.
To be honest with you I will never agree with anything you just said in this post, and hillbilly is actively the only killer I even enjoy facing at survivor, especially double engravings because of the fun looping mechanics on both sides. A good Billy obviously takes a lot of skill to be, and it does take enough skill to go against as well. To me that's the definition of fun on both sides.
I'm glad you are aware of the issues with Hillbilly, but im not here to retell you that. Im here to suggest to bHVR a full rework of Hillbilly would be better than what exists now. Its fine if you want to tell me not to play him. I already stopped. I only play him when I have a daily to give him a worthy try like every month, but its rarely worth the trouble.
These are concerns I raise cause its just a unhealthy way to manage a product. bHVR needs to realize that.

I agree partially, but that isn't the consequence of gentlemen who're able to land absolutelly rancid curves, it's a result of problems that bother the beginner more than the expert IMO.
- Overheat is mostly a non-factor for experienced players, newer player constantly get put on cooldown.
- great billy dont bump into objects nearly as often as beginners, who suffer from 5 sec stuns every second stride.
- players aware of what objects have good and bad collision know where and where not to chase, inexperienced billy players will undoubtedly have to learn that bushes = danger the hard way.
The overheat one is addressed a little in this update, which is nice.
Overall, these have nothing to do with "pro-billys", rather, they're somewhat of an inspiration, showing that one can overcome these problems. If those stop playing, we wont see the really fun sides of billy anymore. the amount of mindgames that occur at one filler pallet is peak survivor chase gameplay to me.
Overheat has never been an issue for me on Hillbilly. Less overheat will do little to improve his play rate. Nor has bumping into stuff. Its the mechanical requirement that is out of whack. I think bHVR could solve that with a rework.

You're probably one of the only players I've ever run into that sees it this way. From a survivor stand point Billy has a huge amount of counter play and enjoyable looping, usually always involving skill from both sides. Billy isn't insufferable to play because his power, or addons, or the skill floor and ceiling being high. Billy is insufferable to play for a lot of people because of the overheat mechanic as well as the map design over the past 2-3 years making him suffer more than most other killers.
Almost every survivor regardless of skill that I run into when I play Billy enjoys going against him, especially when using double engravings and curving. That sentiment is also shared heavily in the community on these forums and on reddit. You literally sound like you've attempted playing him for 5 hours and quit, that isn't a problem with the killer, that's a problem with you.
Well I'm glad I can introduce you to a different point of view, but its beyond weird you say you never have met anyone who didn't like playing against current Hillbilly. Even so how you say he is insufferable to play yet say its a "my problem" when I played him for 5 hours and quit.
Yes. Any killer you have to play more 5 hours with to do anything with really bad way to treat a product. Nurse too.

Bhvr, if you were to listen to anyone about Billy, this is the person you need to be listening to the most. He is one of the best Billy players in the world, and this post is right on the money.
Listening to the professional Hillbilly players is what caused Hillbilly to be insufferable to play as for any casual player. He is just too hard to play and only hardcore experts play him. Listen instead to the rest of the community who does not play him, ask them why they don't play him. Hillbilly is like Nurse in that regard, completely insufferable to play as except you get mediocre results for your sweat. bHVR could have given him quality of life, change the power. but that would not fly.
Leather face is a much more viable and open to other players kind of Killer, but you have to pay for him.
Like have you seen the gameplay vs a Good Hillbilly? they walking back and forth revving the chainsaw around the same loop for a min and then BOOM insta-down. Its super boring and Im glad I never see a Hillbilly nor have any want to play as them. Hillbilly needs a full rework of his Power and a reduction of addons that show too high a kill rate is a good solution while we wait. Make Hillbilly fun and easier to play instead of gatekeeping him hard.

Nah, im fine with the proposed Mid chapter changes.

No, DS is about escaping the Killers grasp. Its not a distance perk.
If most of the community agreed 5 seconds was fine, then most of the community is wrong.
What speaks for DS is that stats and DS performs fine as far as we know, despite the reasons you guys mention against it.
-
I dont see how you are getting 5 seconds stun back because it was abused together with Head On. It would also prevent more stun perks in the future. But now, it cant be abused and allows you a free get out of Killer grasp card. The fact that you are too cheap to use the perk because you want to gain distance for 100% of the stun duration is really poor critique of the perk.
That being said. Smash Hit should have Synergy with DS. 100%

It doesn't matter how many sentences you insert into a text that doesn't contain those sentences, they won't magically come into existence. This isn't art or literature where we are interpreting and theorizing about what the authors intentions were. BHVR stated that they saw no evidence of a DDOS-ing issue. No yet, buts, ifs, anythings.
Now if you advocate for more people to send in logs I fully support that.
BHVR stated that they saw no evidence of a DDOS-ing issue. No yet, buts, ifs, anythings.
Do you realize this is not how language works, right? This is pretty much wrong, bHVR could still find it and that does not make them a liar with this statement- Interpretation is possible but it takes some severe bad faith going on to read so much malice into bHVR's statements- there is no question about that.
Yeah, ofc if people have relevant evidence send it to bHVR. Why would I not support that?

This is such a bad idea, So they just camp the hooked until eternity?
Why? because you absolutely refuse to let the Killer get you if he uses all his power and energy on you alone?
Seems like a lot of work, a lot of complications when you can just hang out to buy your team time while they do gens.
What's the purpose of this, so you can hang on a hook for 45min?

Seems a bit of an insipid rebuke by calling it a "cope", tu quo que, really?
There have been numerous explanations around voice chat, or even proximity chat being a good tool for handling the game's more competitive leaning tendencies, and additionally it'll cure a lot of Survivor Boredom that occurs. There's just not REALLY a substantial reason to not have VC, especially if Voice Chat also comes with the added cost of revealing your location to a stalking killer.
Can we get an explanation as to why you think this is coping? I would prefer something a little more in depth if that's the only thing you took out of the entire video. :3
Why its cope to say that=? because it tries to disregard and dismiss any discussion or arguments outright in order to overcome it.
-
Have you guys tried, Sloppy Butcher, Leverage and Dying Light together?
-
I had to laugh at the Arguments against Voice-coms bit at 12:58
I wholeheartedly believe that voice chat in dead by daylight would solve a large portion of the game's cultural and balancing problems however I want to make clear that this voice chat should be optional on by default but you have the option to turn it off if you want there is literally no good reason in 2023 to not have this feature in any multiplayer game ever made whatsoever any arguments against these features at this point is just cope and I will not hear any of them because they frequently make no sense there are so many problems solved by the introduction of a voice chat that it is asinine to not added at this point
Sounds like he is coping a bit himself. I hope someone will make a better constructive argument for the idea.

And some people were so blatant about it as well, let alone the amount of cheaters and bots this game has.
But you go on assuming you know everyone's experience and questioning everyone else, whilst sticking your head in the sand. I wish you the exact same experience <3

I normally avoid being negative, since I feel like it gets people no where, but I think you can understand where I am coming from after being cyberstalked and harassed/DDOSed for months, in which has had such a significant impact upon my life to where a lot of my friends stopped playing with me or cut ties altogether since it had implications to affect their lives.
This isnt me being pissed because I got DDOSed once or twice a month, this is a common occurrence for me that affects my daily life. DBD was the catalyst for this.
It is entirely human to be mad at someone else in time of crisis, but it wastes a bunch of time and getting mad at bHVR is not an outlet either. bHVR can only help if the leak happens through DBD. but as they investigated so far they have not found anything concrete. One thing I know tho is that blaming bHVR before they are proven guilty is a waste of our breath. People need to come together to find out how the leak works if its that.
- If you are getting DDoS'ed you need an IP change stat, check if your router can do it or ask your Service Provider.
- Once that is done, all we can do is sit, make sure everything is jotted down what happens see how long it takes to repeat.
I unfortunately have no clue myself how its done, but it can be done in a lot of ways. Review the best practises for internet security.

I feel really bad for their support department, the guy I reported my incident to seemed really eager to get information and help figure things out. Feels like upper corporate is walking over their efforts pretty hard.
Their Support team isn't the ones investigating that, the Support Team have probably been asked to send all reports to the Data Security department. But if my investigation is as fruitful as bHVR's its pretty dud. You dont even need a corrupt stockholders to get a dud, they happen all the time themselves.

I mean, it's entirely possible that their evidence really doesn't show any indication of an IP leak or DDoS, which would be a failing in the way they gather their evidence, or the DDoSers are successfully hiding their tracks.
As someone is the scientific field, you get a lot of negative data that simply doesn't give you any conclusions. Which can either be because there isn't a conclusion to be had, or because your data is of terrible quality.
That said, pattern recognition would suggest that targeted 'crashes' like this simply aren't that likely. But if they're not present to collect the information to determine that pattern, i.e. they don't see the streamers getting DDoSed when it happens and just rely on a handful of second hand accounts, the evidence of that pattern may not present itself.
If the IP leak happens through DbD then that would be easy to find once you have a lead, but there isn't a lead to be gained. I have biggest doubts about "the DDoSers are successfully hiding their tracks." I have run about twitter, the forum and discord. Asking how people know their IP was leaked through dbd, they don't. All they say they know is their IP was leaked and they received a DDOS attacks to that IP address.
The Streamer's Service providers should be able to determine if it was a DDoS.
I find this weird cause I have known for years you can get someone's IP from a Steam Voice Call and Discord has also had some leaks. Even Minecraft. And that is ALL you need, they you just go on and buy some bots to start a DDoS on someone as far as I know.
Even if the problem IS in DbD once bHVR's Data Security Department has a lead they can patch it, but if they dont get that...

The quotation itself cannot be inaccurate, any observations and implications perceived may.
Reading this comment now I can see that viewing it as neutral towards the concept of a FOV slider is possible and my interpretation was a result of it being vague.
"FOV is literally tied to game balance with the direction a Killer is looking, how do you propose such a change going through easily? You probably picked the worst game to play when asking for this to be added imo."
The concrete information that can be inferred from this is: You care about balance and are concerned about what a FOV slider would bring. You see the content of the request as being either improbable, unreasonable, undesirable, impossible or a combination of these.
The reason you are concerned can only be because you believe the impact on balance may be negative and you do not wish that, naturally you would also not want what you believe to cause this unbalance, here being a wider FOV.
The problem is that your response fails to clarify what kind of FOV would provoke unbalance as well as how. The title asks for a FOV slider without specification and the post itself only gives Shadowborn as reference, thus I assumed you were contrary to any kind of FOV augmentation when in reality you appear to mind only severe instances.
perfectly possibly my comment was vague in regards to my opinion on the subject, as my opinion was not important at that time.

Already laid out the theory, Killer vision FOV is of importance for spotting Survivors. If a Killer can suddenly see more around then, then they will spot more. That's how its tried to Game Balance. Idd say its pretty wild to believe they are not tied together.
Now I ask you, what happened in 2018 to magically not make FOV have ties to game balance anymore?

You state that FOV is directly connected to the game balance and follow by saying that this is the worst game for a FOV slider, this implicates that you do not believe it should be in the game.
The original post did not ask for a dramatic increase, it was a general request for a FOV slider, If you are opposed only to extreme increases of FOV, you are opposed to one type of FOV slider, not a slider in itself and your first response does not articulate that well.
Hope this clarifies.
You state that FOV is directly connected to the game balance and follow by saying that this is the worst game for a FOV slider, this implicates that you do not believe it should be in the game.
Your quoting of me is inaccurate so your implication is probably influenced by that.
- I said FOV is directly connected to the game balance. ( yes Correct.)
- I asked them how they propose to implement it. (You seemed to miss that part)
- I said that this probably is the worst game to ask for it, given 1.
idk how any of this "implies" I don't want it, at best that Idd think it be very complicated to do cause it messes with the balance.

They did not give any definite values but Shadowborn appears to resolve their issue, there is no reason to assume they want anything more. And yes, I believe that a slider as narrow as 87-102 might be enough.
Your post was also unclear, it made you seem opposed to any FOV increases rather than just radical ones, which is why I gave the example of Shadowborn.
How would I be opposed? I literally asked them how they would propose it.

This is false. Shadowborn's latest iteration has been in the game for years and has not broken the game, a FOV slider that goes up to the same value would not either.
a FOV slider that goes up to the same value (as shadowborn) would not either.
Is that what OP is asking for? Their post was not very constructive so its hard to tell. So you lads only want a FOV up to 15?
Maybe you ought to make that clear in your posts, just sayin.

FOV is literally tied to game balance with the direction a Killer is looking, how do you propose such a change going through easily?
You probably picked the worst game to play when asking for this to be added imo.

Here is what to say to them, "Then report me."
That's all you can do, you cant prove a negative. You have nothing to fear from a false report. It only wastes bHVR's time, but its up to bHVR to punish false reports when that problem becomes too big for them. I have people report me for wall hacking when I use aura reading builds,
Even further, never confront a hacker. Just file the report and leave, its Post Game Chat. Not twitter.

That only works when Pyramid Head cannot see where the Cage is, back when he could, he could hold a Survivor hostage.
The only way this would work, is if Killers could not see where the hook is.
But then this would also remove most of the defense gameplay from the Killers, which I don't think is fair despite the trade-off.
If bHVR wants to add some anti camping perks,
Give me a Scourge Hook Perk that TPs the Killer silently next to a Gen with most progress. 🤠

Nothing wrong with suggesting it here on the Forums, either <3 I'm definitely one of those players that switches between the lowest BP spending route and prioritizing Perks/an add-on or two (then back to trying to spend the least BP), so understandable that would be a question/concern for others that wanna do more than just Bloodweb zoomies. I know Peanits and the Team will keep us posted when it gets near time to share more!
D'aww you. 😍 Good to know, I have also been longing for so long to get a system to fast buy the stuff I want like this.

They responded to a comment asking for the same thong, BHVR replied with "👀" which probably means they've already done it or are looking into doing it
I saw that, but oh boy I better suggest it anyway. Make sure bHVR gets the feedback, we cant have them not do it like that.
