  • Given that Susie and Joey are the only members left with zero background info, it's only fitting one of them gets something in the rift, instead of Frank who has a full bio and Julie who has Tome lore. That way, now we know Susie's official surname through a charm - Lavoie. And she is much more popular than chad Joey, so, like, no brainer they picked her for this one. Besides, coolness of Joey's and Julie's skins is strong enough to get them through a whole year, while Frank is a boring dud anyway, so I see no problem with all this.

If you hate her - don't play her. It's not like new body-piece is incredible and you can mix-and-match masks and weapons with any member.

If we’re being honest Eric Matthews should have been the survivor instead of Tapp, as he had a lot of ties to The Pig/Amanda Young, he was the one who framed her and got her arrested.

I believe Eric was actually supposed to be the Saw Chapter's survivor originally, Tapp even had his name in the files. But I guess something changed during development and BHVR switched to David. Which, I feel like, was kinda a mistake, bc as you said - Eric is much closer tied to Amanda (she even has a skin, in which she was when they fought in the movie), while Tapp is rather connected to Kramer himself.

  • [SPOILERS WARNING]

Hoffminator all the way! Dude literally demolished dozens of people w/o any traps, if anything he's even more fit to be Entity's toy than Mandy.

And it's not like there's any other adequate option. Don't see terminally sick Kramer or one-legged Gordon running around in trials, tbh. Don't care about Logan, and the guy from Spiral doesn't strike me as anywhat significant "Jigsaw follower", despite the fact that his doll Mr. Snuggles is already in the game as a charm. Would also be sick to have Detective Matthews and Adam Stanheight as legendary skins for Tapp!

    Yes it does ?

I mean - it doesn't push nearly as much sales revenue as a new product on a hot market like a good DLC release, but it absolutely makes money.

It's the same debate as building a new house to sell, or flipping a junker.

You can get a lot more money for the new house, but flipping a house is a lot cheaper and much lower risk.

If they made one of their lowest performing killers viable, people may actually buy her.

If they gave her some good cosmetics, people may actually buy it.

If they gave Elodie good cosmetics, people may actually buy it.

When the game releases with a major update - such as a new map - sales and retention usually go up.

Retention is a massively important sales figure because it's correlated with microtransactions.

The more engaged, the more fun a player is having - the higher their retention. The higher a player's retention, the more microtransaction sales are made.

A game fix not only spreads good will to the players, but in the long run it has the capability of increasing a game's profitability for a very low internal cost.

Instead of having to create new assets, new powers, bug test new features, generate new terrain, make new perk art for 6 new perks, do tons of balance and bug tests... you just tweak what's already there and add a couple of new skins - which sell themselves separately.

You don't charge players for QoL updates like a DLC. You give it away for free and make an event out of it. Make it a fiesta. A Party.

Last year's Resident Evil chapter was an absolute party. We need more things like that where the changes are celebrated and emphasized - new or old. Updating 7 perks to be meta or even near meta is worth the fanfare alone.

If they do this, they will gain money - and they will save a lot of money while making it.

That being said, I still didn't get an answer for my question:

What would you rather have seen released in march: The Saduko Rising chapter we got, or this fictional 'Cosmic Inheritor' update - and why?

I had this whole detailed paragraph written out at first, but....

You're trolling, right? 'Cause I fail to understand how any sane person would think that players should be paying their money in order to get updates and reworks of the content they already own. And if you really think that - hell yes Sadako Rising is better. At least Sadako Rising is an actual new content that's completely optional, not a cashgrab I am forced to buy in order to get a flippin' perk update.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2934360#Comment_2934360

    I must disagree.

The content is in the game - it's just no good.

For every good survivor perk, there are six bad ones that NOBODY uses.

You always see Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, Unbreakable, Circle Of Healing... when's the last time, honest to goodness, you saw someone take No One Left behind, Appraisal, Dark Sense, Rookie Spirit, Repressed Alliance, Slippery Meat, Aftercare, Left Behind, Empathy, Open Handed, Visionary, Deja Vu, Hope, Buckle Up, Red Herring, Sole Survivor, Up The Ante, Corrective Action, This Is Not Happening, Lightweight, Poised, Wake Up, Premonition, Calm Spirit, or Solidarity?

Rarely, and even at that, what gives? Why don't you see it more than once every 40-50 matches? Why do survivor players hate these perks??

It's the same sad story for Killers too, almost 100 perks and using the same 10-12.

Why do some killers get a lot of screen time while others don't? Why get a NEW killer, when the Twins is seen every 100 matches or so on average?

Why get more killers with useless perks, and more survivors with useless perks - when you can get the same exact effect on something already in the game?

Would you rather have gotten Saduko Rising as it was, or would you rather have the 'Cosmic Inheritor' update (or something like that)

    • New and improved Twins, actually fun to play as and against! New Twins skin and minor lore update!
    • All twins perks reworked - they're good, fair, and killer's actually take them.
    • Elodie gets a new skin, lore touchups, and a new charm.
    • All Elodie perks reworked - they're good, fair, and survivors actually take them.
    • New Map! Paris France map in the Crotus Prenn realm! Feature for the Twins.
    • Monstrous Shrine rework - fair, good, and actually useful!
    • Keys rework - they are good again, without being broken!
    • Prestiging a character now makes their Bloodweb slightly cheaper!
    • Incapacitated tweaks and updates
    • Multiple bug fixes!

Is this more attractive than the Saduko chapter, or less - and why?

Because, for my money and - I bet for many people's money, this update is a more attractive prospect than another poorly implemented and rushed DLC.

    You know what I mean?

I believe there isn't a single word about quality of life changes in this poll. And you make it sound like quality of life chapters might be monetizable just like regular chapters are (the sole fact of comparing the two + the whole "for people's money" thing), but company "fixing" something they've already put out should never be something players have to pay for with their money.

No matter how good for the game those fixes are.

  • For me, it's not so much about adding new modes (such as 2 v 8, hide-and-seek, etc.), but rather more concentration on quality of life in the game itself. If they would do "quality of life chapters" kind of thing - yeah, it's better than yet another license. But if we are solely talking what's better for the game - new content or new modes, ignoring QoL, I would pick new content without any hesitation.

The problem with new game modes is that they divide the playerbase, which lately been only spiraling down. And unless they are rewarding enough, they will get stale real soon - merely matter of few months at best. Same goes for ranked/unranked matches idea - at the end of the day it halves a number of players playing, which will increase lobby waiting and might even add more problems towards the matchmaking system they have in place. Whereas new content is the whole reason why this game is still alive, mostly well and kicking, while Friday the 13th pretty much completely died. If it wasn't for new chapters, new achievements, new tomes and new archive challenges - I would've left this game, like, half and a year ago. Can't say the same about thankfully non-existent numerous game modes.

  • Well, pretty much anything you might need text-wise can be found on the official Dead by Daylight fandom wiki. From perks to biographies, from add-ons and powers to Archive writings. I wouldn't risk using third-party programs/tools with how unreliable EAC is. And I doubt there are any for this kind of thing in the first place, to be honest.

  • Dating Simulator might be fun, but it pretty much just for the laughs. In case of DbD I'm more interested in lore, than repetitive memes.

TV show, if written well, might be a very interesting thing to watch. I don't think Dead by Daylight world fits for a standalone movie - it needs A LOT of worldbuilding to give it justice (instead of making yet another slasher spoof), which only TV series can achieve well enough (unless you are LotR or Dune, but those aren't even horror and aren't as complicated on paper). I also wouldn't mind some physical literature pieces, actual books might go well in hand with game's Tomes. Graphic novel cycle sounds like a neat idea, actually.

  • I can kinda get behind it not activating against Undetectable, as it does feel like complete BS from killer side gameplaywise.

But everything else (like Oblivious) should not stop it from working. Because otherwise what's the point of it even existing then? You get 10% to vaulting in a regular chase unless killer can moonwalk, is Ghostface, is Freddy or has Oblivious/Undetectable perk/addon? Sounds like a pretty non-existent value, to be honest. Not to mention that solely faster vaulting doesn't go in hand with the Spine Chill's theme, which is supposed to give you almost supernatural feeling that danger is coming (kinda like Spider Sense that Spider-Man has).

  • Those are some GigaMeg ABS.

The first one might look more impressive in picture above, but in reality they are all covered by shirt and dirt.

  • Not a big fan of buying games in Epic Store and I don't own any consoles, so I'll most likely wait for its release on Steam (if ever). It coming to Steam will also show if it can stand the test of time. But the game itself looks pretty interesting, I bet it's a blast when played with some friends!

  • Werewolf of any sort is honestly long overdue.

  • It really depends on your personal preferences tbh. Almost all original characters have at least one good fit available for shards. If we are talking survivors, my favs in no order would probably be:

    Dwight - Mr. Elf

    Nea - Beach Break

    Feng - Lady Defiant

    Kate - Winter Wilderness

    Adam - Seoul Spectator

    Yui - Kumi-Daiko Performer

    Mikaela - Open Mic Host

I actually feel like I have MUCH more killer skins that I like, which are available for shards lol

  • There was no official announcement about it, as far as I know, so can't tell a certain date per se.

But I'm sure there's gonna be a sale of some sorts in the nearest days or weeks.

And unless it's a very serious issue, I'm sure that next sale will include that discount on shards.

  • If you haven't used bloodpoints after having them gifted, the cap gets ignored on your way to the max amount. But not completely.

So, for example, if you have 500k BP and aren't getting any BP gifted by BHVR or through codes, when you get to mil, you won't go past it.

But if, say, while having 500k you get gifted like 150k BP - your total amount of current will instantly go up to 650k, but when you get to that mil you'll keep getting bloodpoints until you get 1 million 150k BP total. At the same time, the gifted bloodpoints are getting used first, so this "overcapping" will not work even with gifts/codes if you spend those bloodpoints before reaching a million.

  • If able to chain Chain Hunts - deadly monster destroyer demolisher painkiller 3000. If not - ded.

    Sounds pretty balanced to me.

  • It's just plain annoying. You find a guy in a deadzone, you think "gottem", but then he sprints and you turn out to be the one who gets gottemed.

And not many run it, so you can't even predict it to begin with. Everything else on this list just feels like basekit at this point.

  • It's kinda called "Adept" for a reason - you should get the best result with what you've got.

Making it "just 4k" would be an equivalent of giving player an infinite rocket laucher on highest difficulty in shooter game.

If anything I'd say survivor Adept should also require double pip, because requirement "just escape" isn't even healthy.

  • The censor actually proved to be completely useless and inadequate numerous times. I've had non-bad words blocked left and right, including basic in-game terminology (i.e. camping), names of characters (i.e. Smithson, which is Nurse's surname), names of perks and simply random words that can't be possibly percieved as insults or else by any single somewhat sane person on this planet as a whole.

Not to mention that you can still cuss like crazy and say all sorts of graphic stuff in any other language, most notably Russian.

So I actually just don't understand, why this censor still exists and why it isn't an optional feature.

  • "i think it is boring so make it bannable" it's literally the same as asking devs to permaban people for facecamping

grow up and deal with it. if it's in the game and is not an intentional bug abuse, then people should not be banned for it, not even temporarily

not to mention afk pigs appear like once in a blue moon

  • It kinda comes down to how much Silent Hill matters to you. If you're a big fan of SH, Heather and Pyramid Head, then you should probably go for the Silent Hill Chapter. BUT if you don't have much personal connection to them already, then Halloween is objectively a better pick. Perk-wise and killer-wise - while Pyramid is absolutely stronger, Myers has place for lots of different playstyles thanks to addons. Survivor-wise I think Cheryl-Heather is better than Laurie (forgive me Jamie), but at the end of the day all survivors are reskins of each other so it doesn't matter lol.

  • I actually still think that simply removing overheat mechanic is the only change he needs. He used to be the most balanced killer in the game. Now he's punishible for using his main power a lot subsequently. There's no need for that, imo.

Sounds like someone needs to see the doctor purple eggs are normal a bad thing.

Well, Demogorgon is an alien. Maybe for them this color is normal...

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

    Aren't "Egg" Add-ons usually Rare Add-ons?

Actually, Hag is the only one who has a green "Egg" addon. She also has brown and yellow addons that are "Eggshells".

Demo's, Artist's and Pyramid's eggs (that sounds weird) are purple i.e. Very Rare.

  • I'd bet on Jake.

Next month will most likely be Meg.

  • Not a single map in DbD has a mindgameable third-floor hole that has an infinite meme potential. Hawkins had it.

  • Given that none of the killers are actually overpowered, these three are equally non-OP, none of them is "more" than others in that regard.

The killer, who's the closest to the "Overpowered" title, imo, is Blight, and yet he's still outplayable and needs some more unnecessary buffs in order to get there.

Get rid of his passive ability. That does most of the work for him with no effort.

You mean - delete his teleportation, his map pressure, his rare ability to play 4v1 and the only part of his basekit that punishes survivors' ignorance, making him effectively the weakest killer in the roster? That's not even a nerf, that's a first-degree murder.

  • I actually find Dead Hard to be hundred miles less annoying than Sprint Burst.

Just for the sheer reason of me being effectively denied instant chase after I finally found a survivor. Not to mention that well used Sprint Burst can give way more value than Dead Hard ever could. Plus you kinda expect Dead Hard to be on everyone, while Sprit Burst is more of a "ah ######### here we go again" type of thing.

  • Spingwood a.k.a. Badham Preschool

There's nothing worse in this game as of now. A bastion of safe structures plus Haddonfield's kilometer walls, which against good survivors is going to mess a lot with any killer that has to abide by the game's rules of chasing. And the only killer who doesn't have to do that is now killswitched and before that would constantly get sucked in basement, if it was placed in shack and survivor decided to loop there. Fun.

  • Use Clairvoyance, be prepared for hatch game and never, under any circumstances, prioritize random teammates over yourself.

That's what SBMM solo survivor experience taught me. Which is unfortunate, giving that prior to that I would always run BT and was selfless.

  • I actually don't have any problem with killers being on more of a "mediocre" side when PTB rolls out. The thing is - I believe that devs shouldn't be afraid of making them strong, so if this killer is generally found by community and prominent content creators to be either weak or mediocre, devs need to buff them for the release date. And only if those buffs show to be too overbearing and inadequate on live servers - BHVR should reconsider and nerf killer to an acceptable extent, but not to the point where they become worse than during PTB or just as bad.

As for perks - it really depends on its effects. Some perks are meme material and are made just for the fun of it, so there's usually no need for nerfing or buffing them, giving quality of life changes at most. And some perks might become overly strong or simply unhealthy (like Boil Over, for example) in case they're buffed, so you kinda need to be a bit more careful with the decisions there. Then again, with perks it's usually not even about how strong they are, but rather how fun they are. Basic survivor meta always stays the same (DS - BT - DH - IW - Unbreakable) either way for, I'd assume, sheer reason of players being used to those perks. Even Boons didn't change it that much - I see DS, BT and DH waaay more often than even Circle of Healing. So with perks, I guess, BHVR's current approach is fine as is - release, look at performance, act accordingly. The only thing I'd wish is that they act accordingly faster.

  • @Bennett_They1Them said:

    Both B and C.

On one hand, iron will could use a bit of a nerf; on the other, Jeff's breathing.

I do really think the survivors should all have the same breathing volume. Playing ace basically gives you an extra perk, but playing feng (for example) basically gives the killer stridor.

Survivors are already merely reskins of one another mechanic-wise. They don't have any unique powers or abilities and their "unique" perks become available to everyone as soon as you level them up to 40. Removing uniqueness of even their voices kinda defeats the purpose of having different survivors even more. They shouldn't have the same volumes, they are people, not robots. People react to pain differently.

  • Jack Torrance is one of my favourite characters, ever created by Stephen King. There's personality and tragedy to him that not many other "horror icons" have. A loving husband and truly caring father, who gets corrupted by an evil Entity, yet manages to take control over himself back when needed most. And Overlook is such an amazing location, which will be so cool to see in Dead by Daylight! I wish they'd do both "inside" and "outside" variations of it, because both are pretty important both in novel and movie (especially novel).

  • @Pulsar said:

    I'll look at it.

I don't really think there's gonna be much hype for Sadako. Ringu is cool and I like new licenses, but considering it's not a super well-known franchise AND it was announced months ago, I don't expect there to be much hype.

My prediction is that the Survivor and Sadako will both be extremely OP because that's the only way I see them selling well.

also is it bad that i don't want a new map? the last two were midwich (yuck) and RPD (literally the worst)

The Ring is extremely well known, though, around the whole globe. Every single person who's interested in horror even little bit, knows Ring's shticks of girl with long black hair coming out of a static TV and phone calls that tell you you're gonna die in seven days. The whole thing is probably more recognizable by wide audience than Candyman, Hellraiser and, arguably, even Saw, Silent Hill, RE and TCM are. So it is super well-known, at the very least as a concept, if not franchise. The reason why it's unlikely to generate much hype isn't its "well-knownness", but its irrelevancy as of now (franchise had no big well-received releases in the recent years at all and overall isn't talked about as much as it was in 90s) and more importantly - current state of DbD itself, with a ton of people being displeased with BHVR's decisions, actions and priorities.

  • It could use a slight rework for convenience, but other than that it's a pretty straightforward and unproblematic map imo. Layout is that of RPD from RE2 and RE3 remakes, so anyone who played those games even once will know it by heart after a few matches on it. Those who haven't played RE games can still easily learn layout, as the only RNG aspect of it is basically position of the basement and hooks/gens/pallets.

There is, of course, this new problem of campable and uncounterable library hook, but that's pretty minor and fixable.

  • Can't see why not. Having Old Man Michael would be especially nice. Just don't bring that alien abomination from part 5.

  • Green Broken Key.

Useless in game, just like me. With it, I feel represented.

  • Still waiting for that Tony Hawk paragraph.

(with the Jackass cast as legendaries)

  • "This game is toxic...", so is every single other online-multiplayer game in the great big world's existence, sweet summer child.

  • Since the announcement of "giving shards to everyone during 24 hours" I got 2k shards in total. None of them came from BHVR.

  • Being a child who can't adequately react on a person repeatedly crouching should never give you an ability to ban for another person.

Slugging is a tactic, no matter how boring it can be - as long as there are tools for countering it, it should never ever be bannable.

Hitting hooked survivor is a waste of time, so if killer does that they are dumb, and if everyone is killed - let them have it, if they are so happy, must be that it's not often that get four kills.

As for sound spamming (repeated vaulting, flashlight clicking) it's literally meant to get killer's attention for either saving teammate or getting chase points - how in the world is that a BM? If there's no good reason for it, you can't do anything about it, the game is over already, and you just dislike the sound - just take off your headphones, get some tea, and wait until match ends, no big deal whatsoever.

  • Prestige level doesn't mean anything, to be completely honest. It doesn't take much skill to put a lot of bloodpoints in one character and just being P3-50 doesn't mean you have all the perks you need either - it would just be a useless piece of information no one really needs. The only reason I can see for it is just showing off like "hehe see I have this character prestiged", but it's like pointless self-petting. If you play with friends - they know your prestige level already. If you play with randoms - they literally couldn't care less about you. Real world works similarly.

  • Old Ruin actually used to be one of the few perks I enjoyed a lot on both sides - as a killer (because of the nice gen-pressure) and as a survivor (because of the need to always hit great skillchecks, which added some challenge to the usually snorefesting holding M1 simulator).

Then again, we all know that even old Decisive wasn't as OP as the Pharmacy is. Green Medkits Supremacy!
