  • i mean, some very specific addons might change killers playstyle. just that is just the same with survivors. and even with these addons the essential goal of the game is the same, kill or survive.

and to fully max out a survivor compared to a killer your barely looking at 10 or so levels difference. so theres not really much of a change there.

essentially it just puts survivors in line with killers regarding addons and its a change for the better imo.

  • NOED is fine in its current form. if you dont want to be 1 hit at the end of the game, do bones. theres counterplay so use it

  • i would probably argue its one of the best DLC theyve added.

love the design of the killer and power when playing. the map is probably the best map in game to date.

    perk-wise. i love using gear-head and hex:retribution

survivor wise: for the people and red herring can make for some really fun and interesting plays.

guess it just comes down to personal preference

When the Rift closes, the only thing that changes with the Tome is that the challenges no longer award Rift Fragments. You can still do the challenges at any point for bloodpoints or lore.

A new Rift does not start right away. The next one starts around the time of a mid-chapter update, give or take a few days. The time in between is a grace period with no Rift, where you can go back and work on older challenges or just relax and forgot about the Rift altogether.

From the compendium, alongside the ability to earn bloodpoints and lore as you state. Are players also able to obtain completion charms by getting to the epilogue? or are these only available whilst the tomb is live?

  • @apathytheclown said:

Someone asked this before and a dev responded that you could still earn it after it closes.

    thanks for the response :)

The thing about season pass models like the Rift is that you can get a lot of value for a low price, at the cost of playing a decent amount in a certain time frame. The challenges help keep it interesting, and it's nice that you can do those any time even if you miss them.

Luckily, the cosmetics that are in the Rift will be available in the shop at a later date if you miss them. The FOMO is a lot lower in the Rift than comparable models that I've seen, since there's always the chance to get the outfits later.

i thought it was said that rift cosmetics were exclusive?

EDIT; nevermind i was mistaken, ignore please :)

It's neat on paper, but then you'd run into the issue of people immediately opening the gate at the start of the match to force not only themselves, but everyone in the match to derank.

surely with the new mmr based system, that won't really be a problem though?

    when its introduced that is

  • its fair enough. legit strat

  • These changes are nothing short but great. adding new mechanics and with the changes to item addons i think it might shift the meta quite a lot. plus the QOL/buffs to those killers is very nice

yea maybe when he gets reworked he will get an ultra rare addon that makes it so breaking pallets and walls does not stop your chainsaw dash. Still would really like to see this as part of his main power tho.

oh i absolutely agree, i'd set him apart from other killers and give him a unique edge as you suggest. fingers crossed!

  • madness no longer decays. I dont know why but this excites me more than the new killer. yes, im a doc main -_-

  • as it says it works like a pallet id assume it wouldnt, but itd be a neat idea for one of his addons when they eventually get round to him.

  • because of the games current condition, in some instances its the only thing to be done

  • NGL, these were pretty funny xD

  • @deollie said:

Can we just enjoy the game please? Nothing will ever be perfect about anything according to the players, obviously, once the devs fix something.. People wanna complain and change something else. Nothing will ever please everybody 😂😂

On the subject of complaining in general, surely to a certain degree thats a good thing?

with constant critiques and such the games constantly changing. You can still enjoy the game and complain for somethin to be added to make it better, or if you like the game and you want it to get better you might complain that somethings not working as intended.

In any case, complaints that hold validity behind them are good if you look at it the right way. Peoples complaints might even change your own opinion on certain aspects. Even if you dont agree, its interesting to see different perspectives (and if your not in the mood for it close end game chat)

  • It does have counterplay. Do bones.

If you are struggling to find bones, there are perks to help with that

  • only no because technically i was already playing him quite often before this cosmetics release. i play him about the same amount

  • @MegaWaffle , damn. you really wanted that dollar huh.

    nicely done though

  • Feel like its not so much they're scared of doing it, but moreso that it'd probably take time away from other things to focus on changing survivor models to allow it etc. and seen as it only really happens during mori animations i dont see it as a high priority for the devs.

    just my 2 cents

  • Not gonna start anything as my previous comment was already deleted, im just saying as a rule of thumb probably dont put stuff like "killer was obviously cheating" in these threads as it has a tendency to provoke peoples attention, just say while waiting in your penalty que or something.

I understand its been cleared up here by mods already, but just an FYI for other threads if you were to make more.

With that said, Minecraft and Left for Dead (1 or 2) would probably be my go-to games. Pretty fun and can easily switch over relatively fast once the penalty subsides.

  • I mean, the whole purpose of the perk was to eventually add a "hard mode" for survivors.

Sorta feel like this'd go against the intention of that, you can always run iron will with it if u dont want grunts like how it is currently. obviously just my 2 cents on the issue : )

  • sensing a tinsy bit of aggression in that second voting option...

    you okay bud?

  • One, but my pc is really old so don't really think its the games fault entirely on that score

  • As the Sheriff has already been done, ill say The Broken

edit: didnt see broken had also been done, ergh

    maybe The tainted then

  • Its kinda sad that this is the mentality of some of the playerbase.

DCing should never be an option, end of.

  • probably 3-4 consistently, the rest either when i have dailies, achievements, archives or when i get bored.

  • The doctor is in a great spot right now, if anything its probably archives or just your bad luck. i remember 2/3 of my games on the first archive was against trapper, whilst my friend had only a few.

    nerfing doc would be stupid

  • This wouldnt really help though?

  • @RainbowSuperLoki said:

It would require too much work from the developers. I'd rather have them focus on more important things, or just give us more perks that allow to mori, because Memento Moris are kinda old now.

Furthermore, I don't understand what would be a map-specific kill animation. The Clown would pick up a katana in the Yamaoka Estate ?

This. maybe just different animations to choose from in future? but probably quite low of the priority list in all honesty

  • No killers need nerfs, they need buffs

Except that Last Year get's weekly bug fixes, while DBD has been out for more than 3 years and still barely get's bug fixes. Even simple audio bugs like Bubba's chainsaw, is still bugged since Plague release.

I mean say what you want about the DBD devs or update system. But last year devs legit banned people for disagreeing with them and ######### off for over a year. Not trustworthy imo. and all the updates theyve been doing are blatantly stolen from dbd soooo, yeah... no dice.

Today I learned I do not play the game. Here I was thinking I've been playing the game for the past 3-4 years, but it turns out I was launching the wrong game all along.

I think the sarcasm in these threads, as well as peanits titling one of his streams as "DBD Dev doesn't play their own game" honestly shows how little they care about the game and the members of the community that disagree with them for that matter.

It isn't a "myth" that the devs don't play/aren't good at their own game, as peanits title suggests, at this point it's quite honestly fact. But more importantly even if it wasn't true, a community manager (not even Dev if we're being honest) to take it to this level and actively take the piss out of a member of the communities opinion is atrocious. How about instead of making stupid jokes and comments in an attempt to retort these comments, you actively try to address them in a functional manner?? Or at least act how a community manager and Dev should behave regarding a member of the communities opinion, if you are to be taken the least amount seriously.

I think he's referring the the vast majority of the devs shown to being ranks 19/20, even if a few DO in fact play the game, they are still the outliers in this case.

Additionally, the ones that do in fact play the game, are also shown to not be entirely knowledgeable of certain elements of the game that a devoted individual would know.

Actually the 3 gen strategy itself, isn't bannable.

It becomes bannable when no action is being taken on the killers side to push the game forward, as in just sitting on the gens not committing to any chases to finish the match. Equally problematic would be if the survivors decided to all sit on the other side of the map not trying to work on the gens. However I think this falls mostly on the killer, since they need to kill survivors to finish the match, where the survivors end up becoming helpless and give up.

Eventually someone has to do something.

So what your saying is, if the survivors don't mindfully acknowledge which gens THEY THEMSELVES are completing, and end up on a 3 gen-strat. It then turns to the killer to either leave the gens and let it be completed or they face a potential ban?

Can you see the hypocrisy in the situation? How it falls upon the killer to rectify the situation, when in reality, its the survivors who have not only caused a situation like this to occur, but more importantly, when this situation arises, the killer is on the defensive and must let the survivors win out of fear of a ban, losing all sense of 'power' they are meant to have.

No, in a situation like this it is the survivors fault to have 3 genned themselves, and they must go with the consequences of that being that the final gen being hard to complete, rather than "oh we've 3 genned ourselves, lets make this game go on a bit longer than normal and get the killer banned".

The worst part of all of this though is these comments won't be looked at or responded to. I'm not even going to tag devs in this one because what's the point. They just addressed the last sentence of one post that was several lines long.

No, if you raise a decent point that actually has validity to it. You'll either get ignored, your comment deleted, or banned.

Or survivor mains mob you and it turns from a discussion to a rave

  • @Almo said:

This is why the Gatekeeper emblem was changed with Ruin. In terms of emblem points, it's no longer important to keep 5 gens up the first two minutes to get all those points.

In terms of the game's power curve, it's expected the first couple gens go fast. 4 Survivors, one Killer... several chases to get one Survivor out. But as the number of gens to patrol decreases, it becomes easier for the Killer to patrol, and their power rises. As the Survivors die off, the Killer's power increases more as there are fewer Survivors to work on gens.

Old Ruin gave people who depended on it the idea that it should not require input from the Killer to keep the first couple gens from popping in the first couple minutes. But that is not how we intend the game to work. My apologies for leaving old Ruin in place as long as we did; it was hard to find a good update, and we knew there would be a huge outcry from the players when we did the change, no matter how good it was. The moment I joined the project in August 2018 I knew Ruin was something I wanted to change. It took a lot of time and a lot of discussion with the other designers to find something worthy to replace it.

New Ruin requiring Killers to act in order to get its benefit is by design. Its lack of large impact in the first minutes is by design. Its subtlety is by design (by subtle I mean that one of its large benefits isn't mentioned in the text: no need to spend time kicking gens). Because we recognized Ruin's impact on the Gatekeeper emblem and Killers' ability to pip, we made the alteration to that emblem.

We can easily understand players' frustrations with this deep change to one of their core tools. But the opinion of all of us on the design team is that the new Ruin will make the game healthier overall. Our willingness to stand by it in the face of such anger over the change is an indication of our confidence in the new design and the benefits it will have in the long run.

So new ruin should help later in the game? But with it still being a hex, it will not only not be useless early game as you describe, but more often than not it won't be around late game at all!

And surely by stating killers aren't supposed to protect early gens, its promoting 3 gen-strats, which im sure you've also previously stated is something the devs didnt want to happen. (as this is actually a bannable offence). And if you say you don't promote 3 gen-strats in this way, then your simply advocating for the killer to lose as certain maps have become so big, killers that lack mobility simply can't traverse the distances without a generator being completed.

In addition, games will go by much faster, giving less time for the killers to actually earn the other 3 emblems they are to focus on. Making the game as a whole harder as killers have the same stuff to do, with a lot less time to do it.

This change to hex:ruin with no compensation to the generators themselves is ludicrous. As it shows, once again, that the devs have sided with "making survivors lives easier" whilst simultaneously making killers jobs that much harder, with no consideration given on how this would positively effect killer gameplay!

  • Ive recorded data from my last hundred or so survivor games and ive got much different results than you. so im guessing it depends on region a lot as well as rank (as many of my games are a mixture of red/purple ranks), for example Nurse was my lowest killer, only facing 1 nurse in a little over 100 matches

  • I'm getting this problem at the moment, does anyone have a fix for this issue? ive even reinstalled the game, and i still cant get into lobbies

  • i recorded the results for 120 consecutive survivor games.

Of that i was between ranks 15 and 1. And i only faced 2 nurses, the joint lowest killer from my experience

You missed the point buddy. But that’s okay. I’m saying you aren’t that special. If you leave game new killers will come. They always do. Killers on rank 20 today will be rank 1 before you know it.

But with matchmaking, most new killers quit relatively early on. rank 20 killers vs red and purple rank survivors is just a miserable experience. Why do you think DBD was one of steam highest selling games in 2019, yet the player base has remained constant rather than increasing?

ppl get sick of ######### and quit, especially new players when they are facing veterans who know every exploit and loophole

Ah I forgot that there was a second delay, so at least you can hit survivors.

Still, I don't know why you can't attack straight away. A delay on the shock therapy I actually wouldn't mind as it would reward skill on the survivors' side, but a delay on attacking is just an unnecessary nerf and makes the Doctor clunky ànd not fun.

yep, but it makes it fun for survivors soooo...

seriously i agree its too much of a cooldown

  • its dead. play survivor if you want to have fun, cause if you have fun with killer the devs will find out whats fun about it and destroy it infront of you. You arent supposed to have fun as killer, your to act as the survivors punching bag

  • basically, the skill in skillcheck was deemed too inconvenient for survivors, and the devs saw a chance to get rid of a popular killer perk with barely ANY compensation.

After all, gameplay and fun is balanced around the survivors perspective

  • @Cancan71 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969660#Comment_969660

They are talking about the cool down of 3 seconds after using shock therapy before you can attack. The shock therapy stops survivors from vaulting for 2.5 seconds so even if they're in a loop they can vault back before you can hit them, making the shock therapy more of a hindrance than a help.

Its been pointed out that as the shock takes 1 second to reach and affect the survivor after usage, and that initially the cooldown for the killer is 3 seconds whilst the interaction block is 2.5 seconds for the survivor (after the 1 second it takes to reach the survivor), the killer wouldd have approximately 0.5 seconds to react and try to hit the survivor.

Ive worded this rather poorly but essentially the killer would have around half a second to hit a survivor, making it technically better than not shocking, but quite harsh in gameplay for the killer.

The announcement on it states theres a "brief pause" after using shock therapy (the normal shock) before you can hit somebody with your weapon. Do you know how much this pause is?

    3 seconds

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 12
