Camper killers? Has Jason Vorhees finally made it to DBD and nobody told me?

i just never enjoy killer as much, i like being on the side that has a worse chance of winning. For me survivor has always been that, my killer matches are always to easy or too challenging, so i play lets say a killer match or 2 every 2-3 games of survivor rn.

I like playing with friends, especially now that i have 80% of the perks and steve is fully leveled, so fun is my main factor.
Fair enough.
-
Yeah, you rolled some bad gates, nothing more.
RNG is RNG.
-
Survivor main.
Why don’t you give killer a good ol swing? Might put some things in perspective for you. Who knows, you might even enjoy yourself.
How you can sit on generators, flail like chickens on a hook, or run in circles and find it fun is beyond me, but that’s just my personal opinion.

Yeah, let a toxic survivor main voiceact for an ingame character.
Then you get to smack No0b3 in the face whenever you see a Steve running around.
This is a bad thing how?
-
He’s a blast to play. I thought the loss of his static field was going to be a detriment, when in fact I rather enjoy the on demand tracking of static blast. If it hits, the survivor screams (unless they use calm spirit), and you now have a general direction to go in.
The hardest thing to master with the doc is action cancelling. Meaning blasting someone with his shock to stop a survivor from vaulting/pallet slamming. The static shock has a travel time, and you have to hit the survivor with absolute precision and timing to make it work right. When it does work, however, it makes you feel very good as you club em in the face.
-
Many true stealth killers lack the ability to end chases quickly. Yes, you can get the first hit in without a problem, but the problem lies with the second strike on good survivors.
Ghostface and Wraith are a blast to play, especially the Wraith with the right build/Addons. Yet both of them can and will still struggle to end a chase if they get caught in a bad loop.
Not saying it is impossible to win, because it’s not, but it’s harder than some of the other killers.
-
I honestly don’t like this solution. It’s another band aid fix for the larger problems at hand. The current gen speed would be fine IF
A) Toolboxes were addressed
B) Map sizes were seriously looked at
C) ALL killers are able to have mobility to pressure gens on larger maps (if not fixed) or just get across the damn map before a gen pops
These are just a few, as I know there are more. Core issues need to be fixed. BHVR loves their band aid fixes, but this is the only way to truly get things where they need to be.
-
Well, at least the guy felt bad. He wasn’t spamming you with the “GG EZ” nonsense that most internet trolls are fond of. Small silver lining, I know, but at least there is that.
I have a screenshot of something similar on my PC of going against four red ranks when I was rank 10 or 11. I actually killed them all (been in red ranks before), but had it been an actual SWF I would’ve gotten demolished. Yeah, matchmaking is very bad.

I figured corrupt would be great on Hag, much like Trapper. You can just hang around the unblocked gens, setting up your web while the survivors either do nothing or walk right into your area.
Yes and no. I main Hag and corrupt may make things a little easier, but I have many other perks that will be permanently useful.
I don’t mind the extra time, but after the ruin nerf I found ways to get my trap network up in an efficient amount of time.
-
I see it making people who think they are entitled angry. I play “normally”, so it hasn’t effected me personally.
I get a brief moment of satisfaction when I outplay someone at a loop and down them, only to watch them D/C out of rage. Good times.
-
I was going to say something witty and clever, but everyone already beat me to it.
If you want to exploit game mechanics to get around a killer, then you are one of the prime reasons the D/C punishment exists. Enjoy your penalties while you sulk in a corner.
-
Wait, what?
-
Keys need to change, too.
Both keys and moris are cheap cop outs within the game. The only time I will ever use a mori is if a streamer appears with their frothing fans, and I don’t even do that sometimes.
-
All corrupt does is buy you time, and once it’s done you lose a perk slot. This is very similar to ruin, a perk I did not particularly care for to start with. I used it just as “that’s what killers do” kind of mentality. I am fairly happy I don’t use it anymore. Just wish they’d fix the map sizes *grumble*
i would personally rather use four active perks that cannot be taken away then use a one shot perk (hexes, haunted grounds, corrupt, etc).
Just me, though. If it works great for you, keep using it.
-
A true ambush killer. I don’t mean pigs little tiger roar slide, but a real one.
Give them the ability to hide in a locker and spring out at people. Stuff similar to that. If you want a horror game, making people paranoid of a nearby locker is a good start.
Another ability I would love to see is shapeshifting. I don’t mean turning into another survivor, either (which is a neat idea though). I am talking shifting into inanimate objects. A piece of a wall structure that sticks out, a bush (gotcha Claudette), a tree, or even a pallet. This pairs with an ambush killer fairly well. I know I would have a hell of a lot of fun with this.

I agree, but we know BHVR plans to keep working on the killer roster.
Without a doubt. Fixing a game doesn’t generate immediate revenue
-
I’d rather they fix their game before releasing another killer.
-
Nurses Calling. As I like stealth and small terror radius killers, it’s practically a staple for them for me.
-
Normal SWF groups who play the game without being asshats? I am perfectly fine with that.
SWF groups that get together to bully and annoy a killer? That’s something I take issue with.
-
These are the many reasons I close the chat box and never open it again. As amusing as their ridiculous crybaby banter is, I would rather just move onto my next game.
The fact you demolished a SWF with no perks or anything is downright hilarious. They even admitted they played poorly. That’s their own damn fault, not yours.
-
So you want corrupt intervention as a core mechanic? No.
Just shrink down the maps and I can almost guarantee you will see results.
-
Best thing you can hope for is running insidious bubba and hope for incredibly stupid survivors.
-
Map size and matchmaking are the largest issues at hand. Fixing those two things would go a very long way in this game.
-
Go against a full SWF, all armed with flashlights carrying the best Addons. I can guarantee that your opinion of flashlights will change quickly.
-
In terms of actual games, I consider 0-1 sacrifices a loss, 2 is a draw, and 3-4 is a win.
In terms of how much I care? I don’t. I play to enjoy myself these days, but that’s what always goes through my head when I play as killer.
-
80/20, killer to survivor.
Survivor, at least for me, is boring. Stare at a generator, run around like an idiot, rescue a dude, go back to staring at a gen. I have to think more as a killer, put pressure on myself to do well, and always be ready for whatever survivors have to throw at me. This is more exciting to me (and sometimes stressful).
-
I would like a more varied objective instead of “hold mouse 1 until done.”
This type of game offers more variety that hasn’t been looked at. Seeking out parts for only a few gens, making indoor maps with certain pieces to open certain doors (think resident evil mansion), etc.
More flavor in maps instead of staring at a gen would be a welcome and more exciting experience for everyone I think. How to balance this type of stuff, though? Well that I don’t know.
-
Shrink the maps and I might agree with you.
-
You act as if all killers do this. Like we all play leatherface and do this very thing. Hate to break it to you, but this is simply not the case.
You get games with fun killers, campy killers, oblivious killers, anything. People are going to be people. Stop getting upset over one game and move on.
-
Because people like to argue and complain. This is just human beings being human.
My idea of fun, your idea of fun, and other people’s ideas of fun don’t exactly correlate with one another. Some survivors like to play in bully groups where they intentionally piss the killer off. This is fun for survivors, but not fun at all for killers.
On the flip side, some killers like to camp and tunnel survivors into oblivion, as it’s fun for them but not the survivor.
Its nice to see the positive ideology, but people are just going to be trolls.
-
If you are sprinting high speed through tall grass with an active trapper and you step in a trap... you deserve it. You should know better.
Just like nimrods who go against a hag and insist on sprinting to a hooked survivor, full knowing a trap is probably right at their feet.
Stupid people are stupid
-
Killer mistakes are far less forgiving than survivor mistakes. The only person a killer has to fall back on is himself. He has no team to carry a load. This is why killer is so damn difficult, as any mistake we make can be a costly one.
Survivors have three other people to make up for their mistakes and lack of effort, so they are able to make more because of it.
And yes, gen speed is fine. What is not fine is the gen speed on maps the size of Australia. Gens popping before you see/down people is incredibly disheartening to any killer. While we can turn it around, sometimes you can’t. Newer players don’t understand this yet, however, and will suffer more from it. Just shrink the damn map size already or give killers who need it better mobility.
-
I don’t see it as totally catastrophic. Yes, some can be annoying, but some play in my favor as a killer. Sometimes gens don’t get done as quickly due to challenges, which just helps me.
On the flip side, though... that damn hook breaking challenge.
-
As much as positive vibes are appreciated, people are going to be people. I hear you loud and clear, but there are quite a few pissed off people that play this game right now... and they tend to lurk here.
-
Patience. Things like this are not simple to create.
I am not holding out high hopes for this matchmaking system. They are devising a hidden (not a fan) MMR system that runs on "winning" and "losing" games, along with performance. There has never been a clear statement of what a win condition is for either side. They are going to have to do some serious brainstorming to come up with this. Time will tell.
Take a break and breathe. You're gonna get run into the floor by good teams... it happens. If you are frustrated, do something else. I enjoy DBD, but I do so in serious moderation. Too much of it will eventually grind away at my nerves to where I will want to spit out vents like you just did.
It'll be okay.
-
Survivors have had their share of nerfs as well. Insta-heals, DS on demand, and pallets galore being three that immediately come to mind. Is this enough? No, it isn't, but that's my opinion.
Killers just happen to be getting spit on more often these days. Playing an effective killer these days is not impossible. It can be hard in some games, yes, but there are also games where you just completely run people over.
Ideas and creativity? Depends what you are looking specifically at. In terms of design, they have a vast amount of creativity. I am looking forward to their map/music/in-house killer designs in the future... definitely some promise there. Now the balance team...

Do you know how the devs could punish face camping? By making the hook timer stop when the killer is camping you unless EGC has started or you are the only one left of course.
Is this really so hard?
So when the other three survivors are swarming the hook and circling it like a bunch of buzzards, do you really think we are going to leave when we KNOW you are there?
Yes, some killers do this to be cruel, yet some killers feel obligated due to the survivors thirst for altruism. If i know there are survivors floating around the hook, I may not proxy camp, but I will remain close until I find you or whoever else is nearby.

Well by making all killer perks he's it will be more fun and balanced for new players as well as old players who can just not v do the totems
More fun for who, exactly? You? All survivors? What about new people who want to be the killer? Are you going to pigeonhole all “new players” as survivors?
Dont think you are really thinking about this.
-
You clearly must not play this much, or are trolling, if BBQ is that much of an issue.
There is so much counterplay to the perk it’s unreal. If you stand in one spot, remain there for its duration, and then are suddenly blindsided by a killer coming for you... is the perk REALLY to blame?
-
Fine. I will allow this.
However, as a trade, every time I hit you, you lose one perk.
Does that sound fair to you? No? Neither is what you suggested.
-
If you lose three gens in the opening minute of a match, I am questioning what it is exactly that you are doing during that time.
Yes I have lost a gen, on rare occasions two, but three? I would have to have been AFK for that to happen.
-
Haunted Ground is the only risk that there is. The only inherent risk is if people are intentionally seeking out totems and ignoring other obstacles.
I really don’t honestly see much issue with this. I agree that survivors could use another objective to fiddle with, but even that comes with many drawbacks.
-
I think it’s more along the lines of being a killer on a gigantic map and seeing a gen popping before we even reach it. We know survivors are there, and weare practically powerless to stop it from being completed (unless we are a high mobility killer).
To me, gen speeds are fine on maps that are not the size of Nebraska. When the maps are huge and certain killers are at a disadvantage just due to the fact they just have walking speed (Myers, trapper, clown, etc) and nothing else.
Thats the issue I see. Is it catastrophic? No, it isn’t. Losing a gen isn’t the end of the world. Not being able to pressure certain gens due to the absolute mileage between them is a problem.
-
Yes, my little self righteous survivor. You fools are just as guilty of this. A perfect example of this:
Playing as the doctor. I had already smacked a survivor and was in a chase. We come to a pallet loop. We do our thing, all the while I am zapping him and baiting a pallet drop. I get the drop I am looking for and the next part of the chase begins. We go back and forth and I time a zap to where he could not vault in time for me to catch him. I knock him down and go to pick him up... instant D/C.
He was outplayed and threw a little tantrum.
So, as a killer main. Stop D/Cing survivors when you are outplayed or make a mistake. One down will not cause the end of your game.
-
I am on no side. I have my own opinions about what has happened. I admit I was on absolute fire due to the ruin and doctor changes, but it’s amazing what happens when you actually play what is available.
Do I support the dev team? No, they have made some bone headed decisions. Do I like the ruin and doctor changes? Surprisingly, I have enjoyed them. The dev team just needs to start hitting other issues instead of band aid fixes.
-
Sounds like you’ve had a bad run. I assure you that we all don’t do this.
-
Honestly? I would rather them create their own. Their balance team has a few screws lose, but their design team is phenomenal. Plague and Oni are shining examples of gorgeous work and love put into a killers aesthetics.
A licensed killer doesn’t allow much freedom.
-
Glad you asked! Here’s what’ll happen.
Killers will have all abilities removed, as well as the ability to attack survivors. From now on they will only pop from the ground for jump scares. The new objective for the survivors is to do generators as fast as possible. There will be leaderboards and blood points will be awarded to the highest survivors when ranks are reset.
This will be called “Alive by Daylight: Generator Edition”
In all seriousness, ruin going down is NOT the end of the world. Honestly, I am having more fun without it than when I actually used it. Makes games more interesting for me.
-
Yep. I am gonna stay in a lobby with three toolboxes and a key. That might sound all and well for the four of you, but for me that sounds like a waste of my time.
