Not necessarily true. While those perks are nice they are certainly not deal breakers. Only putting traps around things you want to defend is unwise, as once people realize you are doing it, it’s now expected.akbays35 said:Hag is pretty good problem is that she is a defensive killer, you pretty much put traps around things you want to defend like totems, hooked survivors, generators. In many regards she is a camping killer, you do need detection perks like whispers and bbq to be effective with her.
You trap places they don’t expect, trap loops, abuse the camera flick to mess with survivor movement, a good trap network is the absolute key to success with the hag. Detection perks are not always necessary, as well placed traps in frequented paths by survivors are excellent detectors without using a perk slot. -
I would stick whispers on and face camp each individual person. Fight fire with fire.

So you want mystique from the X-men franchise?
-
I wish you luck. Just realize that you need to learn map control and ideal trap locations, so those same things to learn on a spirit apply to the Hag as well.JhonwayneX said:Hello there. after seeing the comments and watching some guides, i think i'm gonna purchase The Hag since i really think i need more experience with enviroment and stuff to play Spirit properly. Thanks a lot for the advices and opinions of all of you, i do really apreciate it.
I take this opportunity to tell you i'm at Twitch with the same name that here in the forums. Come around and give me some advices and tips; and laught at my fails :^). This is my second week on DBD and i apreciate all help possible.

It would be cool if the person writing those journals turn into the killer. He/she injected the nectar into their bloodstream. Perhaps it’ll mutate them into something? That’d be a neat twist
-
That’s what makes Hag fun, though. You are fully immersed in the game and keep everyone on their toes. I love the Hag but you are right, it can be mentally exhausting having to constantly reset traps. It keeps the game fun for me though.Eight said:@The_Crusader said:
I also often see hags who put down 5 traps around a hook and also facecamp.Yeah, that's another one I don't get.
I'm probably a better Hag player than I am a Piggy. The reason I don't play Hag much, is because it's a full-on experience - from the moment the game starts, everything is full throttle.
I don't trap hooks or gens, I trap all the places people are moving through... and survivors are constantly setting off my traps. It's exhausting. I don't always win, but my god can you panic survivors with Hag! Camping is a complete waste of her ability.
Edit: Will add, I ran Insidious during the Blight. Just because I wasn't focussed on "winning" and it meant I could give myself a break here and there. Set some cool traps, stand still within range, catch your breath, and wait (won't be long) for the booming to start.
If there is a Hag putting five traps at one hooked survivor, they are doing it wrong. You can horribly exploit overconfident SWF groups with one trap. I actually pulled TWO survivors off of one hooked survivor with a single trap. I was hardly 30 feet away when they booked in and popped it. -
I am not a doctor main, though he is my “secondary killer.” Here is a little advice, but this is how I play.
I have never enjoyed monitor and abuse with the doctor. It takes away from one of his greatest strengths... the madness he generates with his terror radius.
Distressing and the addon that boosts madness generation to those who stand in your terror radius is great fun. You will find survivors a lot faster and constantly generate madness while walking around in shock therapy due to your massive radius.
learning to time your shocks before a survivor vaults or drops a pallet is a key skill. It seriously screws with people as you zap them right before they hop or drop because they stand there screaming for a split second, which is long enough for you to switch to your bat and smack em.
I recommend YouTube on how to play the doctor. Bricky put together a guide that has a little age but is still viable. I learned how to Hag through Spacecoconut on YouTube and it brought me success. She is a different killer altogether though.
The doctor is not a super strong killer but he is fun. -

What killer do you prefer? Certain perks are better for some than others.
As a hag main my build usually consists of monitor and abuse for the tiny terror radius, nurses calling, sloppy butcher, and I change ruin/make your choice as I feel is necessary.
I use the perk that repairs hooks within 10 seconds if I happen to see a sabo squad coming, but that has only happened twice. -
The thing is though, you truly don’t need that speed boost for those three killers.
A nurse is fairly obvious as she doesn’t need to move towards you. She just needs to move into a better blinking position. That movement isn’t always necessary, and if it is it’s not very far.
The huntress has hatchets to counter her low speed. If you are running around without hatchets as a huntress, well... just get to a locker.
The Hag may be a good contender for that perk, but it is a wasted perk slot for much better ones. Hag is about trap placement, herding, teleport strikes, and mind gaming. If you are chasing survivors across the map, you are doing it wrong. -
Scarred Hand, Waterlogged Shoe, Mint Rag. These are very wonky and fairly debilitating addons for a Hag.
Sticking a cooldown on in the primary power of 15 seconds is a poor choice, plus you have to have further awareness of your traps and everyone else’s location to truly make this work perfectly. If you can do this, you are clearly awesome. It just seems novelty, but can be fun.
Anything that removes her teleport from an already slower killer is just not a good idea. Despite the “benefits”, teleporting is what makes a hag who she is.
Oh, and the scratched mirror is fun for Myers. Jumpscare Myers in the right setting is an absolute joy to play. -
Crushed them as a wraith? Awesome job. You took an “underpowered” killer and milked their tears.
I usually get the salt brigade whenever I teleport back to a hooked survivor because the would be savior tripped my trap. Poof, I reappear and grab the moron and hook him too. What do I hear?
OMG LUL CAMPING HAG, NOOB, #########... etc etc
What? You expect me to NOT teleport to my trap after you were stupid enough to trip a very obvious Hag trap at a hooked survivor? -
Honestly, it comes down to your play style. Do you prefer chasing and chopping? Do you like being able to zip around the map at will? If that sounds like your game, spirit is your lady.
Do you prefer setup and mind games? Not a big chaser and would rather foolish survivors do your work for you? Then the hag is your woman.
This excludes perks, of course. I personally love the Hag as she requires more map knowledge and herding people around to let them give you an opportunity to take them out.
It honestly comes down to how you prefer playing. Spirit mains have to master their stealth walk while Hags have to master where to trap that isn’t obvious. Both have glaring weaknesses and strengths.
Pick what suits you. -
Would it be cool to demand sharks with laser beams attached to their heads?
-
I just don’t bother running to the exit gates if the game is at a point where I got wrecked. I will just hang out elsewhere while they stand there.
I have actually had a survivor come halfway across the map to teabag me at the end and it ended up getting him killed. That was probably the single most satisfying thing I have ever had happen in DBD. -
Lower ranks come with higher queues. I have never heard of 10 minute waiting periods (unless you are over exaggerating).
If you are a higher rank and getting very long queues... then I don’t know. Unless your internet is severely borked, that should not be happening. -
For major competitive games such as 1v1 fighters or brawl games, sure, your statement is very true. Many people will not reach that high powered play in those games, so the majority of the player base won’t even have to worry about that. In a game like dead by daylight, however, where most people are not “hardcore”, that statement loses some of its validity.Dabrownman1812 said:Can people stop complaining about who is on top. As with any game you will see the best at the top tiers of plays. There's characters that people who want to win with the best win chance will pick, and that's the best characters. Smash has bayo, tekken has dragonov and devil jin. No matter what, if stats and power/moves are different there will be some timeless bests out there in many other games too.
All people are wanting is for other killers to have a better shot at performing better at the higher ranks. You could be the best killer in the world, but if your killer choice has abilities that seriously throttle your skill, that’s a problem. We are asking for more than just hillbilly and nurse. We want greater choice, not to be pidgeonholed into those two killers. -
Freddy is not a difficult killer to best once you understand and grasp his nature. As you get better and understand, you’ll laugh about it later.
just know how to wake yourself up or track down survivors to wake you up. Seven seconds before he can actually hit you is a long time -
For a second there I thought you were talking about the actual Predator.
Yeah sure I will take infrared vision. -
I would approve of this only if I can hurl flaming skulls and scream fatality every time.PhantomMask20763 said:How about instead of shapeshifting into a survivor you can shapeshift into one of the other killers. It would be quite the plot twist because both survivor and killer would have to continue changing their playstyle. -
Abuse their altruism, hard. Most of their groups are always over-altruistic. You don’t have to necessarily camp them but being nearby on a very expected save is a good idea.
In addition, avoid the brightly dressed flashlight survivor. Most SWF groups carry at least one person who knows all the loops and tricks and it is his job to waste your time. Save them for last and go after his friends are catch him in your playing field instead of his.
Or or as someone said earlier, play nurse and never care about loops again. I Hag main and I can deter loops, but never stop them completely.
good luck! -
So you are hoping that we do these things to justify your thought process?
Folks like you are basically begging to get tunneled into the ground. It’s even more amusing when people with your mindset act totally shocked and wronged when we do it. Survivors have their toxic behavior, we can gladly break out our “toxic” behaviors too. -
Well when I play and if I “win” I want it to be on as fair footing as possible. I know P2P will never truly be 100% fair, but I want each game to be as enjoyable as possible.Kaelum said:@Divinitye9 it very definitely is your Internet connection; however, that doesn't mean that it is bad. As others have stated, when you are killer, you are the host. Every survivor is sending you telemetry, and you are sending telemetry to every survivor. That is a lot of data for a connection that may already be overtaxed due to video streaming. In fact, many "so-called" streamers cause this lagg themselves, due to their upload stream.
FYI, 99.999% of the people on the Internet have an asymmetrical connection, meaning that their upload BW is a fraction of their download BW. If either BW limitation is exceeded, packet loss occurs, which has the EXACT same effect that lagg switching does. You seem to be one of the rare players who gives a rats ass, and would like to fix it, if you can. Here are some options:
- For now, don't stream any videos, download files, etc., while you are playing killer. And be aware that if you do this as survivor, you will not have a good experience either.
- Contact your ISP to see if you can increase both the upload and download BW of your connection. Be aware that a single HD stream requires ~9.6Mb/sec download, and as much as 10% of that for upload.
- Switch to a different ISP, which is not always an option.
Best of luck!
Thanks to your advice I have contacted my ISP and have boosted my net speed. Aside from DBD purposes it still fuels all entertainment in the house, so it’s a net gain all around. -
I appreciate the feedback. Was honestly more than I was expecting on forums.
to answer the question, I 99% of the time have no issues while she is watching netflix. On very rare occasions I will, and that just requires me to restart the modem, but those are not common instances. I actually felt one lag spike in one of those games, but it hurt me as well.
Who knows, could just be freak occurrences since charter (spectrum, whatever) is known to have very finicky internet.
