  • I think they meant "Civilization V".

Not that mess masquerading as a Civ game.

What do you mean you can't hear the near-silent terror radius music from 16m away? What do you mean that you can't dodge an unreactable, unpredictable, instant wind-up ranged ability that counters almost every loop and tile in the game?

Honestly you should've just played better I don't see the problem here.

You probably should just play better.

But given your post history here in the forum, you probably haven't. Or tried to.

  • "EAC is an easy and cheap solution for Indie Devs."

That's what a dev friend of mine told me, obviously it is easy and cheap for a reason given how many times cheaters have bypassed it ^^

  • Is it possible this is one of the gifts we might be getting for the 4th Year Anniversay?

Apparenty this gifts depending on a trust level of no reports, you get bp, shards or both

Guess that means I won't get gifts then because I've had my fair share of "Reportable Actions" as a Killer XD

(Listen, when I see another Survivor after downing one, I am going to slug the other one.)

  • I didn't get it here, that is rather strange and odd. Are they testing something?

  • Demogorgon - Ability to replace his portals, make it so activated portals still allow you to teleport to them before they disappear from your aura reading.

Deathslinger - Not necessarily a power change, but replace his Ultra Rare Add-ons with instantly pulling a Survivor into you and having 2 bullets every reload.

Pig - Have her RBTs be more of a consequence during Endgame, having them beep red the closer the get to the exit gate and exploding if they try to get out (this used to be how it works), forcing Survivors to complete one final objective before they could escape.

Trapper - Have him have all his traps at once, cannot re-pick up traps that is higher than the bag limit at the start of the game.

Maybe these are just straight up buffs, but I feel like these killers do need them because they tend to be less of a hinderence to their power and more of an annoyance when playing them.

Also how the hell do you think bhvr is a small group? According to my researching bhvr interactive has nearly 500 employees. Obviously not all of them are working for dead by Daylight but majority is since that's currently their main business.

Oh and btw lets don't forget how they generated so much money out of dbd that they kept deathgarden alive for multiple times while it was basically dead and had no revenue.

I think you don't really know.

500 Employees is like 1/4th of a standard AAA Gaming Company like Rockstar and Capcom.

Not to mention, those 500 employees might not all be programmers, some of them are artists, map designers, writers, concept artists, or even Janitorial Staff.

I agree Deathgarden was a mistake and they could've moved their resources elsewhere, but trying to keep a game alive is sort of a thing game developers would want to do. Because they don't want all of those hours wasted because the game failed or the company is failing (Look at PAYDAY 2).

Just saying, put it into prespective with other game companies and also realize not everyone in that company would be working ON the game's code, but rather creating the assets that make up the whole game.

  • Yeah no, I don't think anyone but the people who find her overpowered/boring would want this change.

Something Ozt brings up in his video of the mobile version of this game. Is you can earn free Auric cells overtime, to slowly get killers like Myers or Ghostface for free, which would be impossible to do so on other platforms. So for the mobile version, it seems giving away some Auric cells or allowing people to earn them, is a idea they are testing with or seem to think is a good idea.

I think it works more on the mobile market because giving away premium currency for free in small increments is a wildly accepted practice there that's heavily encouraged.

You want people to get invested in your mobile phone game, because it's easier to let your wallet loose in it.

Not necessarily OP, but I have seen complaints that his power is disorienting and hard to avoid if the Clown is good.

  • @LordGlint said:

I wanna know which killer is "fun" because I keep having people telling me various killers are "boring", lol.

Fun is subjective, which is why that is never something you should consider when balancing your game. People will have fun against strong killers, some people won't, and that's just the nature of the game. That's how it is, and to change something because some people feel something is boring is unfair to the people who do find that something fun.

  • @MysterTal said:

I was thinking about this for a long time, and (being serious, not trying to mock Survivor Mains) the conclusion that I arrived at is that no Killer in the game is truly fair (and that's a good thing but nevermind about that right now).

So, in Dead by Daylight we're used to talking in absolutes ("this is Killer-Sided, this is Survivor-Sided, this Power is OP, this Perk is useless", etc) but if you play long enough and you think about those things long enough, you'll start to see that it's a little more intricate than one sweeping statement.

In my opinion, every Killer has something about them that can be frustrating to deal with as a Survivor.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that they all break the game in some sense.

If we make up a sort of list of "game rules" for Dead by Daylight, as if it was a boardgame, we might come up with the base rules for how Killers work like this:

    1)     The Killer moves at 4.6 m/s.

    2)     The Killer emits a red glow that marks their gaze.

    3)     Survivors receive an auditory warning when a Killer approaches their position. Killers have a Terror Radius of 32m, centered on themselves.

    4)     In order to catch Survivors, the Killer must Attack them, which reduces a Healthy Survivor to the Injured state and an Injured Survivor to the Dying state.

    5)     After the Killer makes a basic Attack, they have a short cooldown during which they also move slower, and a Survivor who is hit by an Attack and becomes Injured receives a temporary Speed Burst.

    6)     In order to eliminate Survivors from the game, a Killer must sacrifice them on hooks. Every Survivor can potentially be hooked three times and rescued twice before they are eliminated from the match.

    7)     Survivors can defend themselves using windows and pallets to put obstacles between themselves and the Killer.

    8)     Survivors can avoid the Killer by hiding.

    And so on.

Now, already you can think about how pretty much every Killer in the game breaks one, some or all of those rules.

Killers are supposed to hit you twice before you go down, but some of them have a Power that lets them down you with a single attack.

Killers are supposed to move at a certain speed, but some of them can move much faster than that and others can even teleport from one side of the map to the other.

Obstacles are supposed to protect you, but some of them can circumvent obstacles, ignore them or attack through them.

Tell me that none of you have ever played Survivor and gotten hit by a chainsaw and felt like you were robbed of half a chase that you would have gotten against a "normal Killer" - or that you've never been caught out of position by a stealthy Killer and thought "oh, this is bullshit!"

What, you've never ran a Trapper or a Hag around for a while only to get caught by turning a corner into a trap and felt cheated?

I remember at the time when I started playing, people were talking about how the Trapper is "too strong" (and this was after Nurse, Myers and Hag had come out).

And this is why there will always be Survivor Mains complaining about pretty much every single Killer being "OP". In a sense, they're not entirely wrong because every Killer has the ability to circumvent, bend or break one or more of the "core rules" of Dead by Daylight.

The thing is, the only way to "fix" that (in their minds) would be to reduce The Killer to the bare basic "rules" that I listed above – basically, to make a purely "M1 Killer".

But just imagine if the devs did that. Imagine if Killers were completely reduced to this sort of stock standard M1 Killer type and maybe some of the things that we have as basekit for every Killer would be the new special Powers.

I say that in such a world, you'd still be seeing Survivor players complaining.

You would be seeing threads about how Gen Kicker is OP because "regression is broken", you'd see people having discussions titled "is Locker Searcher fair on Inner Strength players?" and there would be angry threads about how "Pallet Breaker BREAKS Dead by Daylight!"

Even then they can't fix that. Freddy while you're awake is the most barebones M1 Killer you can possibly imagine. But he has the most complaints out of all of them right now.

Its not bound to a chase. Its the same as Deep Wounds, where you keep running to pause the timer. Its probably the least cheesable way, since you can't moonwalk or manipulate your terrorradius.

Ah okay, that's fair. Though it effectively gives downed Survivor immunity to be picked back up again since it pauses if you get downed.

Well, there isn't really much to add to it. What you said is true, we have had multiple killers with similar abilities to iconic ones.

Personally I don't think it's gonna be Jason purely because of the legal Hell he is in.

It only activates within 7 seconds, but that timer stops. The stuntime can stay, its a strong but deserved stun.

Then the Killer just needs to moonwalk for 7 seconds. Because moonwalking is not a "chase".

I would absolutely hate that as a survivor. You get hit/downed because your teammates were finally doing what they are supposed to do while you are being chased.

It would be powerful, but if the Killer relies on this perk that means they are only ever getting 5 downs at most.

  • @WRussoW said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1286222#Comment_1286222

But then what's the point of the hatch? To stroll a failed match for survivors??

The hatch is a CHANCE to escape. C H A N C E. It's not a guarantee escape. If you find it first, congratulations! You escaped! If the Killer finds it first, you have another chance, albeit a lower one, to open an Exit Gate.

That's the point of the hatch. It doesn't guarantee the Survivors an escape, it only gives them one after they failed to finish their objective.

  • The devs have said the last survivor should always have a chance.

But that chance is always going to be lopsided to favour the Killer. And that's how it should always be.

As a team you already failed to do generators or keep the Killer busy, so why should the alternative escape be even easier to use?

  • @Weederick said:

Decisive Strike: Lasts for 7 seconds, but the timer stops while running and in the dying state. Prevents immunity in lockers as well as slugging to tunnel around the DS.

Does the perk stun for 7 seconds OR can the perk only activate within 7 seconds?

  • Cruel Limits effects the entire map, not just around the generator that it was completed on. It would make it so much more useful and it's only useful 5 times every game, and you don't want that to happen.

Try to make a ticket reporting a player for doing the DC tech :)

    Uhm.

And no, when DBD crash it is 99% of the time cause of the spaghetti code.

    And they're getting punished still.....

No, it's your machine. Not DBD crashing.

Because otherwise the fact that I kept DBD on for as long as I usually do, I would experience crashes on the regular. Yet I don't. Your experience is not universal.

  • You know what that flaw would be if it were added into the game?

The same amount of time it takes for a Hooked Survivor to die before the Hatch is opened. DCing removes that short amount of time.

DCing is the equivalent of skipping the whole sacrifice cutscene when you get Death Hook as a Survivor. Which halts opening the Hatch until it ends.

  • It gives them Props. As far as I can tell it doesn't really do anything obvious, maybe there's matchmaking in the background which puts you in with other players who are also given props at the end of the game.

  • @nancybestgirl said:

And 5 minutes prevents you from playing so that is a temporary-ban.

And wanna know what else dcing gives you? 0 bps, 0 devotion experience, 0 rift progress, depip and if you get a in game crash it will probably a 15m and game crashing on this game are pretty common if you play more than 7+ matchs

I've played DBD with it being on 24/7 and I have never had it crash as common as the Forums makes you think it does.

If DBD is crashing, it's your machine. Not the game.

And honestly, do you think someone who DCs cares about BPs, Experience or Rift progress?

If I'm going to be asleep in chase either way then wasting the time to wake up barely seems worth it. I don't really care to much if I'm asleep and out of chase because it barely affects me. Its a waste of time to wake up when I could just loop him for the time I would be wasting waking up to begin with, and I'm also not doing the objective in the meantime. He gets his teleport a little quicker, but he's either going to be chasing or teleporting, not usually both and the teleport also has a tell. I don't want him to be weak, but we need to give a good reason to wake up to begin with and also make waking up reasonable.

If he chases you and you fall asleep by being hit, that means he already worked to get his advantage over you, he already worked on being able to use his powers against you. If he is a terrible Killer and couldn't hit you in the first place, then you have nothing to worry about. Especially if we go with the timer being paused during chase suggestion.

You wanna know what's the counterplay? moving on cause 3k is enough for pips if that's your problem.

And we can say this discussion isn't going anywhere, the fix you bring to the table is abusable and not fair, so there's no point on discussing it

You know what the equivalent of saying this is?

"Hey Kibara, don't worry about those cheaters using actual hacks and cheats in the game. Just move on with your 3k! You'll pip anyways. You shouldn't punish those people because they're abusing cheats and hacks, because that would not be fair."

  • @nancybestgirl said:

    But they get a penalty.

And if we talk about fairness in this game than it is subjective, cause I can easily say slugging isn't fair

Yes, the penalty. 5 minutes which resets every 24 hours.

You know what I can spend with 5 minutes of my time? Walk downstairs to the kitchen, cook up a quick snack, and then come back upstairs with said snack and ready to play again.

  • @MrPenguin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1285909#Comment_1285909

Whats the point in wasting the time to wake up when if I get found while awake I get put to sleep anyway either by him hitting me or by the timer. I might as well stay asleep and use that time to do a gen. Also old Freddy did not have teleports, snares, and the ability to hit awake survivors. He would in no way be back to old Freddy status.

I honestly think what @Atrushan88 suggested is what should be changed with him. Keep everyone in the Dream State, but give him penalties for using snares so it would not be as effective as it was previously, but this also eliminates the hassle of trying to stay up and wake up. And give his add-ons that gives more changes to his basekit and how he plays.

His suggestion is honestly the one I would love to see the most for what they could change for Freddy.

So basically, if people can get banned by dcing, why we keep complaining here....?

What you said literally fixes this whole entire drama

What I am saying is, just because they get banned, doesn't mean the fact they could still DC to give the other survivor hatch instantly is fair.

Plus, it's not like people who DC for Hatch would DC enough to get banned anyways.

  • @Hippie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1285888#Comment_1285888

The last part of your post basically addresses the problem.... it's not like these people can D/C for their teammates game after game without facing increasing penalties. Unlike slugging for the 4k, which has no penalty for the Killer, can be repeated game after game and only hurts and wastes the time of the two Survivors that are left (unless you see the last Survivor when you down the third one, obviously.... that's perfectly fine).

If D/C'ing for the hatch is "an exploit", while it still denies a Survivor all of their BPs, removes a pip and gives them a temporary cooldown, then slugging for the 4k could be called "an exploit" as well. It "exploits" the bleed out mechanic and drags a game on for much longer than it should be. I mean, heck, you could even say the Killer is "holding the game hostage" when they slug for the 4k. I'm not saying that personally, but I'm just saying if you're going to call one action an "exploit" when it has a similar, detrimental result for one side, then you can say the same for the other. Neither are very fair but at least D/C'ing for hatch actually hurts the person who did it.

If the Killer is slugging, he risks the other Survivor coming in for the rescue.

If the Killer is slugging, he risks the slugged Survivor bleeding out and die before he could find either the Hatch or the other Survivor.

If the Killer is slugging, the game will end normally with the slugged Survivor bleeding out.

Nothing is being exploited there, because the game will end naturally.

Either by the Slugged Survivor bleeding out, by the Killer finding the Other Survivor, by the Other Survivor rescuing the Slugged Survivor, or by the Other Survivor escaping and leaving the Slugged Survivor to die with a key.

  • @nancybestgirl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1285927#Comment_1285927

And if they wouldn't find that fair, why it isn't fixed when this was a hot topic before?

And show me a proof of a dev saying you should bleedout to open hatch...

I don't need proof of the dev saying that, because it's in the game's rules.

Disconnecting is considered Unsportsmanlike Behaviour, and that can get you banned. Keep DCing and you might find yourself banned in the next wave. So by that logic, if you Disconnect, you're exploiting the hatch to open by throwing the game.

  • Pretty sure the thread you're talking about is made by a guy who has gone on hiatus for 7 months, so I would think his opinion is still rather "fresh".

  • @nancybestgirl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1285900#Comment_1285900

Than basically this discussion isn't going anywhere cause if you really want a constructive discussion you would fix it so both sides dont have to be punished.

What you said is "I would rather it being abusable to the other side instead"

If someone is there to troll, they are most likely going to get banned either way. But doing this gives one side an unfair advantage of allowing the Hatch to open without the other side being able to do anything about it. There's a reason they slowed down Gen Times for when you work with other Survivors, because it's to give the Killer a chance to do something about it and not be left with Gens popping before they get into a single chase.

Same logic can be applied here. The Killer couldn't do anything with a survivor doing a "Tactical Disconnect", thus it leaves them feeling cheated because the game was ended prematurely because someone decided to forfeit and open the Hatch for their friend which should not have been open in the first place because they didn't bleed out.

Do you honestly think a Dev would find that to be fair?

  • @MrPenguin said:

Personally I would mostly just touch the sleep mechanics to start with and see from there if more is needed.

    1) increase the sleep timer. I see the popular number for this is 90 seconds (1 min 30 sec). Possibly also increase the clock pause on the timer. They always make you go to the other side of the map to use them. They should give sufficient protection for the time put in to even reach them that could have been spent doing something else.

    2) Take away the survivor getting put to sleep on hit. This kind of defeats the whole purpose of waking up. Either passive sleep or on hit sleep not both. Maybe make on hit sleep a rarer add-on if it really wants to be kept.

Honestly I don't know about the getting put to sleep on hit, I think maybe pausing the timer during a chase is better than that. Mainly because if it's just using the Passive Timer for him to be able to use his powers, then we have issues back with Old Freddy as to why he is so weak.

And you already said it, the survivors that dc gets a penalty, what do people want? if they make it so the hatch opening delay when someone dc this could easily be abused by a troll survivor dcing just to deny you hatch

I'd rather be abused by a troll as a Survivor rather than allow Tactical Disconnects to be a thing.

Are you a dev to say what's intended or not? this has been in game for years and devs know it and if it wasn't intended this would already be fixed.

Still butthurt about the jake escaping?

Again, I'd like to repeat myself here.

The DC option is there to leave during emergencies. It's not there for you to leave if you are not having fun. Being butthurt and leaving because you aren't having fun is something the devs does not want to have in the game. That's why they added the DC Penalties which gets worse and worse the more you DC. DCing constantly is also something bannable because you're actively ruining the game of multiple people by doing that.

  • @nancybestgirl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1285865#Comment_1285865

I never said it isn't fine, I said it is boring and isn't fun for anyone.

And how do you it isn't allowed to disconnect when you lose all bps, depip and get a 5min penalty? and if it wasn't intended devs would remove the dc option or would fix this a long time ago.

A lot of the things both sides do is boring.

Thing is, that's most likely just them being optimal.

Focusing only on Generators may be boring, but that's the most optimal way for Survivors to finish their objectives and escape. Same with Pallet Looping and using strong loops.

Slugging and tunneling one person out of the game may be boring, and can be downright frustrating if you're on the receiving end of it, but it is, again, the most optimal way to spend your time as a Killer because one less Survivor living is one less person working on generators that you should be worried about. Same with Slugging.

Also, the DC Option is there for you to leave during emergencies. It's not there for you to leave when you're not having fun. That's why you can longer and longer matchmaking bans the more you DC.

  • I think I'm gonna hate this for both sides.

Because I don't want to be moried while using a key, and I don't want to give Survivors any chances at the Hatch while using a Mori.

  • @nancybestgirl said:

If you're complaining about it you were slugging for the 4k.

Why complaining when you're using such boring mechanic to make the game miserable and even more long to everyone? take your 3k and move on, you're not entitled to nothing.

So what you're telling me is if a person Disconnects and forfeits their game, which is something the devs heavily discourage you to do, so their teammate can get on the Hatch that's fine, but if a Killer slugs to give himself a chance to look for the last Survivor while still playing the game isn't?

  • Trapper, Trapper, Trapper.

I much rather face all the other Strong Killers in the game at once than to play against a single Trapper.

I just hate going against him, mainly because good Trappers can basically stop a chase before it happens. And that's not what I like about the game as Survivor. I want to be chased, I want to risk my own skin to give my teammates time to work on generators. Trapper doesn't give me that.

With Freddy I at least can expect a ton of fun chases around multiple structures, with Spirit I can count on my knowledge as a Spirit main to read her and fool her everytime she phases, with Nurse I can juke her with LOS blockers, Huntress? Force her to throw at false doors or windows. Hag? She has to still teleport to you AND chase you with her 110% movement speed.

All of these Killers have one thing in common, they are all based around the Chase. And that's the one thing I love the most about this game as a Survivor. Feeling pressured and feeling unsafe only to risk yourself during a chase to give your teammates a chance to work on generators as safely as they can.

And Trapper can down you with an unlucky trap.

  • @Hippie said:

With the amount of Killers that slug for the 4k (leaving the slugged Survivor on the ground for up to 4 minutes.... it's happened many times on my games), I don't really see a big issue with D/C for the hatch. I personally have never had it happen in my games (and I play a fair amount of Killer, as red rank), and while I am aware it happens in other peoples' games I still don't think it's as widespread as slugging for the 4k, where the Killer can just leave a Survivor on the ground for up to 4 minutes while they look for the last Survivor, then find them again with BBQ.

Maybe if they implemented an option for a slugged Survivor to "give up" if they were left on the ground for more than 60-90 seconds straight, then I could see them implementing something against D/C'ing for hatch, like a delay to hatch opening immediately after a D/C.

I've had to deal with the Killers slugging for the 4k as a Solo Survivor to the point where I started considering slug builds, it isn't fun but I'll be darned if I have to DC to give my teammate the hatch. I'd rather bleed out. Your suggestion to Give Up is still the same as DCing for the Hatch, the game will have ended anyways with the Bleed Out timer. It's just a matter of whether or not the Killer will find you before you die.

7 or 8 months, a long time for sure. Edit, I quoted the wrong post.

Wait, so with no gens done, EVEN IF I CLOSE THE HATCH, they still get to escape without doing gens?

I mean.... I guess the entity has a real soft spot and doesn't want sacrifices????

The hatch closing mechanic is basically added to prevent taking the game hostage for long. Same reason why the EGC was added.

  • How long have you been away from DBD? Because this has been a thing for a long time.

Don't worry I will mate 👍 I do it for myself so I may as well post it to the forums also. I always try and upload it within 30 mins of the challenges being shown.

I think I'm gonna spend all of these lovely bloodpoints (and Dailies) on the Pig.
