=== GUFF =============================
It's pretty hard to deny that one of the most controversial characters in DbD is the Nurse. A power that at its core has the potential to (in the right well practised and honed hands) decimate survivors with little counter play, espeically in maps that don't offer a lot of line of sight blockers. At her best she creates a whole unique style of play to survivors that force them to combat her outside of standard gameplay mechanics, and variety such as this IMO has to be good for the game... right?
From what I gather the Nurse seems to be in a more reasonable spot now after her blinks were made special attacks for the sake of certain perks. That said she is still extremely powerful in capable hands, and any new aspiring Nurses are forced to practise a HELL of a lot just to even start seeing basic levels of success... this means that her kill rate is among the lowest in the game simply because of just how hard it is to use her.... but with a stratospheric skill ceiling.
This difficulty is especially prominent on console. As a console player one has to accept you're never going to manage the crazy flicks on Billy or Blight, the ridonkulous axe snipes on Huntress, and spin juke techs are the bane of your existence...
However on console Nurse... you have to do things akin to these precision tricks just to basically function... it's absolutely brutal to try and blink to survivor location, then turn with any accuracy on a stick, and blink again within the time limit to actually score a hit on a half competant survivor. Nurse to date is the ONLY killer I've player where I ended the game with 1 hook and 4 escapes... even my first 10 games as a new player were not even close to that bad a performance. For me to use her I actually run her Matchbox or Spasmodic breath add ons so I only have to be a blink god 1 time, and then follow up for a down as a regular m1 killer, where I can fall back on bloodrush so I don't get these horrible 1 hook and all escape games xD
=== TLDR ============================
Given her poor accessibilty and kill rates on console and low MMR players, I find myself exploring, mostly just out of curiosity/game design interest, ways of making her more accessible while still retain the elements that make her unique and most importantly FUN for people who already like to play Nurse...
So my question is, what is it that Nurse mains actually love about playing the Nurse?
I enjoyed the very rare situation where I actually hit a 1-2 blink down across a loop and successfully guessed the right side of the pallet... but I suppose this loses its charm when you master it, and I've seen many high level players describe the Nurse as boring once you master her cause she is so easy... Thoughts?
Console nurse is somewhat playable if you put the hours on her. I have 4K most my games with her before but she feels more limited. You can't cancel blink in middle of it and 2nd blink feels shorter it's like pc nurses still has range add ons compared to console that what it feels like. I did enjoy starstruck build on her before...

I posted on similar topics a lot in the past and it is a hill that I will happily die on:
rank and grades are no longer a representation of ones skill, they are just a means to reward playtime on the players end. Thus de-pipping should be done away, ie unless you DC you will never depip. As a direct consequence, all pips would increase; right now you need around 90 pips to go from Ash4 to Iri1, increase that to 150, so that you need about 150 good games in a month to reach Iri1: a sizable number for someone more casual, while easily reached by veteran players.
Now everyone could play anyway they want, without the pressure of having "to reach Iri1 asap so that I can finally play anyway I like". Meeting some really cute survivors and wanting to take pitty on them suddenly won't come back and bite you the next game, if you decided to show mercy at 4 pips, just go ahead.
There are games where I would want to give survivors some mercy and not play so sweaty and employ most powerful tactics... but current pipping system just does not allow it. I do try to play more chill couple games once I reach new rank I mean grade though...
-
When you play enough killer you know your skill is only small factor. You can down survivor in under 30s and still 3 gens can pop if they just do them.

Nah. I main the wraith and my lest few games have been 4ks.
I won 30 games a row with wraith so winning few games does not telll anything. he is still weak killer if survivors know what to do.
-
No idea killer is miserable now unless you play toptiers. Survivors gen rush and rush. I almost have stopped playing killer even soloQ is better.
-
@Shaped said:
"Seems swf is only option to left to reach red grade 1"
Nope. I play alone usually and I always reach iri1 just by playing often and not thinking about it. Same way I usually do challenges as well because I don't really like throwing unless I meme.
I can come from a break and iri1 fairly fast just by playing the game. It is just about how often you play imo. And it is not like I don't get a lot of bad matches either on surv. You can still reach it by playing the game enough.
If you're extremely lucky maybe but it's not possible anymore in solo I tried once 2 weeks to reach iri 1 from iri 4 and only got to iri 3.
-
@Emeal said:
this would also mean, you could fool around all game and annoy the Killer and other survivors and still get 2mill free bps at end of month
You could do that now as well. Why players who want to fool around would care about pipping anyway? You can reach red grade 1 in swf about week so even now you could fool around 3 weeks if you want without any consequences.
Not to mention pipping is even worser for killers you likely depip with weak killer if you face strong team. Best way to pip is to tunnel someone out and then spread hooks which is not most enjoyable way to play.

But then in "proper" matches where everyone try to win, killers doesn't get a chance to play if they don't tunnel/camp due to lack of literal time.
Yeah that's not 100% but it can be good chunk of games like at least 60%.
60% games definetely does not require tunneling first person out. That is not always even smart thing to do survivors can rush gens more easily when one loops killer on the side of map were they all completed and take hits if needed. Smarter is to spread hooks and tunnel when someone is on death hook. Unless you play blight or nurse then hard tunneling works.
-
Anti-facecamping change is welcome devs will then have no choise than to buff weaker killers. But blight needs nerf dh made him balanced before and now he is out of control. I would put restriction for swf:s who escape too much and reach very high mmr. So those who just chill with friends would not be affected but most sweaty swf:s would get nerf.

I think for the gens you need to 2 two whole gens to get a good emblem. I think getting 4 gold emblems or 2 gold and 1 iri guarantees 1 pip (dunno about 2 iri emblems and the rest silver). Anything less and you're not getting anything. You have to play exceptionally well.
I just wanted safety pip.
-
@SonOfaZerg said:
It is important to do the gens by yourself for the emblem. Seeing you got a bronze i assume it was a coop gen. You can do one full gen, but if you are doing it with someone else it counts as if you did half a gen. Two saves is more than enough, consider that a heal also count as half an unhook, so if you want to pip, you do need to do decent at everything, specially the moment you reach gold and iridescen it gets even harder to pip, if you focus too much on benevolent you want make it on the rest, in my experience is better to do good in the other three. Getting bronze means you barely had any chase that game or got downed very fast. scaping chase (lose line of sight and walk) and pallet stunning gives a lot for the emblem if im not mistaken. Also getting hit gives a penalty, so if you are in the exit gate and start a chase, dont get hit before scaping. Check the wiki on emblems, there is a lot of good info there, about how much each emblem gives and how much you need to safety pip, pip or double for each rank.
I agree though on solo queue depiping is kind of unfair.
Only part which I could done better would be chase but she was very good huntress and I didn'r expect her to shot me over tall rock. Then she camped me to second stage when she got other down close. I think even swf would struggle agains't her as she tunneled, camped and slugged and she went for snipes. But still I managed to do bit of everything and escaped so that should be enough to safety pip.
-
Devs probably should reduce the amount of times players need to get that medal as it's going so slow. But I don't know if it helps keeping it equipped.
-
Killer is easier to win but survivor is easier to play.

This was something that was mentioned in the Anniversary Stream - that we would be giving out the previous crowns as part of this years celebration.
This does not affect Legacy, nothing has changed there at all.
P100 players should get their own legacy skins. Like golden or silver skin etc. That is very big grind and deserves reward just like legacies back then. Only very dedicated players do that.

@Aven_Fallen said:
When comparing it with the other original Anniversary-Chapter, I think it falls a bit behind Roots of Dread. But mainly because this one was really unique with a non-humanoid Killer for the first time.
But when it comes to the actual parts of it, I think it is better than Roots of Dread. The Map is certainly better than Garden of Joy. IMO Singularity is also stronger than Dredge (even tho both are good Killers in my opinion) and Gabriel is a better Survivor than Haddie, mainly because his Perks are better with Made for This being Meta, while Haddie had 3 Perks which are not really good.
I also think that the main criticism comes with two points (at least in this forum):
- Survivors got an actually good Perk for once
- Singularity is harder to pick up than the average Killer Main wants to invest time into
People are still overreacting over Made for This - while it is a decent Perk, I dont see it more often than Exhaustion-Perks, which shows for me that it is not OP. If it would be OP, people would change their Loadouts. Whenever I play Survivor I am mostly the only one using it, when I play Killer I see at max 1 oder 2 Survivors bringing it. If it would be the new OP-Perk people claim, you would see it more often.
Singularity is a good Killer. But IMO he is weaker than Killers like Wesker (who are stronger and in general more fun to play) or Nurse (which is stronger), while being harder to play than those Killers. You need to put in some effort to get decent results and there are simply Killers where you dont need to put that much effort into learning them with better results (e.g. Nurse) and then there are Killers who are weaker, but way easier to play and still good enough to 4K most of the time against the majority of Survivors.
And the Killer being quite rare is not really a point IMO. It is not Twins-Level of rarity and we now have 32 Killers, which means that on average you will not encounter every Killer as often as you used to a few years ago.
tl;dr: Overall I like it and I think after Knight and Skull Merchant, it is 100% a big improvement.
Garden of joy is better map though if you are survivor but not a map you want to play as killer. Definetely still not worst.
-
I play for fun but im addicted to bp grind on both sides probably even more. On killer I enjoy downing survivors and hooking them because I like the screams and I like to outplay them. I also find fun to mess with survivors and sometimes let them escape.
On survivor I find chases most fun and close games which can go for any side. Winning mindgames and tricking killers to make mistakes are fun.
-
I will personally not bring them for while I just had multiple very bad games in a row that is hard to even believe. Killers making sure everyone get as little bp as humanly possible and just tunneling blights and knights at 5 gens so I need to save bp now so my supplies of them don't get too empty. I bring garden of joy offering ofcourse so I get lot more bp in that map.
-
Would be better if during event you could only use terromisu offerings and nothing else.
-
It is acceptable always if no-one depips. So try to give survivor chance to safety pip before you take him out.

Here's a hot take for ya, bud: stop sweating your nuts off on killer and you'll get more chill survivors to go against. You do NOT have to tunnel. If you tunnel / slug / camp, don't be surprised when gens go ding ding.
Even if I play non sweaty survivors would still sweat like their actual life would debend on it. Survivors really only care about doing gens as fast as possible and hope to never see killers. 3 gens in first chase leaves no option than to tunnel if I want even one kill or some bp.
Played few games today without tunneling and survivors gen rushed even harder. I should be getting easier survivors as I have not gotten over 2K in a while. So far only one easy team and because they were too bad I let them escape.
Meanwhile on survivor I have escaped most my games as even my soloQ teammates has realised that doing gens wins games. I have only died when tunneled or faced toptier pc killers like blight or wesker.
-
For me it's bit better playing survivor. Matches usually last decent amount of time and most killers don't tunnel and some even farm and let you escape. But there are few tunnelers but I don't blame then because swf:s are out of control.
When I play killer I get P400 squads who gen rush at the pace I never seen before. I think survivors should be hugely nerfed if they play swf for compesation also strongest killers should be nerfed hugely. SoloQ is fine but I rarely get to face them as game thinks im OP killer. But I usually play m1 killers and play on console so idk why. I have had to tunnel lot more too killer just sucks to play now.

Base kit Unbreakable was tested and it didn't work.
The easiest way to fix 4 minutes slugs is just to give the survivors the option to bleed out/give up if they've been slugged for a minute or so. That way the killer can't be toxic and hold games hostage for 4 minutes anymore but it doesn't have any effect on the balance of normal slugging, which is fine as it is.
Self-unhook is part of the anti-camping mechanic they'll be adding later this year.
Basekit unbreakable would be fine if there was just 2 survivors left?
-
Gen speed always seems faster if there is event. Survivors just try to make them as fast as possible. Getting even the first down quickly does not always help survivors can still easily recover and still one gen will at least pop.
-
I had rough time while trying adept singularity. I played 12 games with results 1×1K, 8×2K and 3×4K if we count dc:s to kills. Win rate of 25% is lowest I probably ever have had. Gens were going crazy fast I could just not keep up in most games.
-
Im pretty sure bubba would kill normal human. He killed like 20 people on the bus in latest movie on netflix and is very durable and big guy.
-
@Toky0_Gh0ul said:
Then let's punish survivors for genrushing, as killer main i could say that the killers face camping and tunneling because they just can't fast enough get survivor befor 1 or 2 gens done and they just have to camp you because if they don't they lose. And after last update with nerfs of most important perks for stoping genrush it becomes even worse and the killers HAVE to camp you if the want to win
Facecamping is more likely to end in 1-2K if the survivors are any decent. Best way to win is apply pressure spread few hooks and tunnel weak link out if opportunity rises. Ofcourse if someone is about to reach second stage that is smart to camp. But if you just wait there 60s good survivor go put reassurance on and finish 3 gens while you just facecamp. It's not winning strat often you need the survivor team to mess up.

I really want to but I absolutely suck at using his power so I play him as a M1 killer with basically no power, so I went back to playing Demogorgon.
I think I'm just not patient enough to learn new powers, mostly if they're at least a tiny bit difficult to use properly. I also wanted to play Dredge but I haven't touched him since the last anniversary (he still has last year's offering equipped lol), I'm doomed to only play basic killers like Demo, Doctor, Legion, Trapper & Huntress bc im stupid basically.
Yeah im kinda same I got some use of his power but it was hard and survivors always just easily counter it most of the time by using emp:s. So not really worth to even use it but then he is only m1 killer. I only played him to get adept so that did not motivate me to practise his power either.
-
Let's just remove every perk are you happy then? This game is amsymmetrical 4vs1 horror game so you can't expect both sides to work same way. One is hunter others try to hide or run away. So ofcourse each side perks will have different activation conditions. Because their objective or role is completely different.

Just had a game yesterday where the killer slugged Leon who I got up and then me. He both camped us hoping the other survivor would go for a save. Leon just started working on the last gen while I was down, but then he went to find him. Needless to say, the killer couldn't catch Leon for the whole 4 mins I was slugged on the ground, but he still ended with a 4k.
Now I want you to convince me how such a killer is skilled and he deserves the 4k if he spent 5 whole minutes maybe more (including Leon being slugged before me) being unable to close the game at 4k and why something like this should be allowed and award an auto 4k.
Because you need to do that to get adept achiement done otherwise is not worth the effort for killer.

@HugTechLover said:
Considering it’s just a 4k now, they are all pretty easy. Just play super scummy and get it first game.
No they used to be lot easier. The old system was much better bleed outs or dc:s didn't take your chance for adept away lowered ofcourse but even 2K with 10 hooks was enough in the past to get it done. 4K can be hard if last 2 just hide and you go forever slugging them again and again. You probably play blight with aura reading so that's like completely different than playing m1 killer with no aura reading.
-
For me he feels worst killer in the game and in fact that is true at least in my case I lost 5 games a row trying to adept him now. Maybe bad timing as gen rushing is now at it worst but still that has never happened me before. I tied couple games but that still lose in case when im trying adept. I have actually gone 7 games without winning now crazy. I remember my previous longest winless streak was 3 games...
-
Well for me it was wesker farming with me and some nice killers mostly. But when I played killer survivors were gen rushing hard as possible so yeah I don't blame those killers doing what neccessary to win.
-
@Krazzik said:
By 'gen rush' I mean survivors simply focusing efficiently on gens, because that's all it takes. Good toolboxes and certain perks can help shave time off but really all it takes for gens to fly are 4 survivors who actually sit and do gens at every opportunity.
I understand that balancing gen time is impossible, because the difference between 4 solo survivors just chilling/doing archives and a SWF (or even solos) who sit and do gens as efficiently as possible is massive, and you can't balance around efficient gentimes without making it almost impossible for the other group.
In the meantime though it just feels bad when I can find survivors and end chases quickly and still lose because that isn't enough slowdown on it's own. Against efficient survivors, if you aren't playing a top-tier killer you NEED good slowdown, and that's becoming increasingly harder to find thesedays.
I hope they do something it's out of control now when the anniversary is on. I lost 5 games a row while trying to adept singularity and not even tunneling was enough to beat the gen rushers I face. Well 4 games ended in 2K but obviously that is losing when trying to get adept. Though on survivor myself I usually get potato teammates who struggle to do gens I quess the game just is agains't me particularly no matter which side I play.

IDK about none of that. All I know is there are too many variable in a match and the loss of a hook/kill can lose you the double depending on what else happened in the match.
Sometimes yes but if you know you have done lot of chases and gotten downs and survivors had hard time repairing gens +2 pips should be quaranteed with 3K. But if you're unsure go for the kill.
-
You get merciless killer with 4K and unfortinately dc does not count as kill even I think it should in this case. You were unlucky that it happened you so many times all you can hope is survivors now play fairly unfortunately. It used to be much better done achiement before. 3K with 9 hooks was enough even 2K in lower grades and dc:s kind of counted towards it before as it was based on medals you got in the match.
-
@MimiDBD said:
I used to give hatch every single game to a survivor I felt played the best....or was Nancy 😁.
Now I don't because it makes me lose the +2 pip. I wish they would rework pips and delete d-pips. When I hit Rank 1 I close hatch (survivor always think I am trolling) and let them leave out gate.
You can still give it below red grades if you got 9 or more hooks (should be +2 pips). Personally I try not care about pips anymore as the reward is not that big, how much you have to work for them.
-
I give hatch sometimes if I feel bad for them. Or sometimes I do it just to show good gesture. If I happen to close the hatch in front of survivor I give them gate I know from experience that it feels bad.

You still lose less than you are "supposed" to lose. If you get outclassed on a regular basis, this is the game telling you that you are not in the MMR-Regions you should be.
If you facecamp yourself to 1-2 Kills you might still lose MMR, but it will be less than you "should" lose.
The game is survivor sided if killers don't use stragedies. So killer getting kills by facecamping is just stragedy and he outplays survivor if he succeed getting 2K or more.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Probably just play, try to improve or lower your MMR.
If it happens frequently that you get 4 Survivors which need Bloodlust 2 or Bloodlust 3 to catch, this probably means that they are way better than you.
So if all of them are that good, you might want to try to catch them (if there is really no weak-link), because you might improve. Or at the very least you will lose some MMR which you keep when you facecamp because this should usually end up in at least one Kill, probably even two.
You should lose still mmr with one kill and if devs aim for 60% kill rate so 2K should still slightly decrease it or very least keep it same.

I think this is better idea actually. This mori system we saw on PTB was just terrible, i don't wanna see it in live servers.
Basekit unbreakable would be fine when it's last 2 survivors only alive it would encourage killer not to slug for 4K. It's still pretty common. But if all 4 get slugged that on survivor team and they don't need second chance.

Getting put into your appropriate skill bracket isn't punishing the player.
MMR defines the win condition, that was the main point of making it besides attempting to improve how players were sorted.
Sweat just means trying hard to win. So yeah going for hooks is less sweaty because you're prioritizing that over that actual win condition of getting kills, so you're not trying as hard to win as someone who doesn't.
Your MMR is lower than your actual skill in that case because you're purposefully handicapping yourself for your own personal goal of hook count, but that's not the goal of the game itself.
"One flaw they need to fix is to increase softcap so 2000 mmr killer won't face 1200 mmr survivors."
Yes I agree on this. One of the problems is that the softcap is so low more than half the player base is above it.
Sweating and playing most optimally always ruins the games in the end just look fortnite probably prime example of that. It takes all the fun away. Same looks to happen dbd as it's becoming more sweaty. Tunnel/camp 5 gens left and gen rushing more common than ever 3 gens pop in first chase.
So put those kind of players only agains't each other. Sweaty tunneling killer should never face casual soloQ survivors. Casual killer going for hooks over kills should not face sweaty gen rush swf. Some amount of sweating is not bad if letting other side have some fun but when it comes to these strat that not the case.
Good example is that killer spreading hooks smartly and priorisating kills when he gets opportunity. Otz for example managed 80% win rate without any tunneling. Now what if he would tunneled when neccessary. But just proves hard tunneling every game is not always the best or only way to win but the most easiest and sweaty. Survivors should not bring toolboxes with BNP:s and gen rush builds. In match they should not prioritise gens over everything. Swf really just needs a nerf.

I'm comparing "tunneling" a survivor (repeatedly chasing, downing, and hooking one survivor until they have been removed from the match) to "tunneling" a generator (continuously working on a gen from start to finish). What's so hard to understand?
If gens could come onto the forums and post, there would be an equal amount, if not more posts complaining about being tunneled by survivors as there are posts of survivors complaining about killers tunneling.
You're saying "gen rushing" is bringing perks, items, and addons to speed up gens. I don't think that's comparable to "tunneling." It's comparable to bringing strong killers, perks, and addons to get quick downs or snowballs.
Tunneling has always mean in this game focusing on one survivor/player and chasing just him after he is unhooked. Gens are not people they don't have feelings that just absurd. Now it's killer who can feel bad gens getting done is that what you try to say?
The fact is soloQ can rarely coordinate gen rushing anywhere close to what swf can do. Gens before friends/healing is what I count gen rushing if there is no perks/toolboxes. But other than that is just doing objective normally.
Sometimes gen going fast is just bad luck if survivors spawned separatedly to fix 3 gens that should not happen. But the problem is gen times are still too short and killer regression is nerfed. So gens should be increased to 100-110s to compensate. But with condition tunneling nerfed.
-
@MrPenguin said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3443593#Comment_3443593
Yeah that's why I said optional objectives. Killers don't have anything similar to be doing instead of trying to kill the survivors. The defense "survivors don't have anything else to do" is false. If you mean they don't have any other main objective then sure. But they can choose to do so to slow down the same way they want killers to choose to slow down their main and only objective.
Killers primary objective are not hooks.
If it were hooks MMR would be based on hooks, but no, devs made MMR based on kills.
If it were hooks mori's wouldn't exist as a benefit as they skip hook stages to kill the survivor.
Kills are the objective.
Hooks are just the first and most common way to get kills.
For survivor it's the same, the primary objective is to survive and escape through the exit gates, gens are just the only way to do that. Otherwise MMR would be based on gens.
If mmr would be based on hooks that would punish killers going for hooks instead kills so that would be no good. Ofcourse 11 hooks and 3K is much more skillful than 4K with 4 hooks but it's best to put sweatiest teams agains't sweatiest killers. One flaw they need to fix is to increase softcap so 2000 mmr killer won't face 1200 mmr survivors.
-
@MrPenguin said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3442637#Comment_3442637
That's not true survivors have totems and chest as optional objective. Killers actually only have 1 thing to do, kill the survivors. There's nothing else they can really do.
Everything you mentioned is just doing the objective in slightly different ways, its not different optional objectives.
You have it flipped.
There's nothing stopping solo's from doing gens quickly. They have a lot of other problems, doing gens is not one of them lol. They can spawn spread out and gens are easy to find. You don't need communication for gens, just people who actually do them.
That's more of because solos can't filter out potatoes like a swf can. But if you get a team with a brain gens still fly. You can't really do anything about bad teammates however. Signing up solo is rolling the dice on teammate quality like in any team game.
Totems and chest are not objectives more of an side quest. So survivors only has one and only one way to do gens. Ofcourse we could count healing as objective. Maybe before if killer had hex ruin or devour hope as those could slow down doing gens sugnificantly. Like I said usually soloQ does them lot slower yes 1 out of 10 games you might get good team who do them fast. But most of the time when gens go quickly in soloQ is because killer made mistakes.
Killer primaly objective is to hook survivors that what the game literally says not just killing that's why survivors don't die when they get first hooked. Devs intended killers to go for hooks and survivors to heal and probably do some totems. But players ofcourse on both sides find more effient ways to play and take the fun out of the game.
