I hope you dont mind me asking, but how is Prove Thyself a "killer-sided perk"?
Prove is really strong when used right.
- It removes a majority of the downsides of working on generators with multiple survivors which can make the final generators (in which spreading out generators is somewhat pointless due to the lack of available generators to repair).
- It let's survivors finish a generator close to completion a lot quicker when the killer is going to pressure the generator. It has it's utility when used right.
- And with multiple survivors and strong toolboxes, you can immediately slam a single generator before the killer even has a chance to reach you (literally at the start of the match).
I use it but will normally tell my teammates to go and spread generators, I only use Prove when it needs to be used.
Yeah sure towards the end of the game it makes a lot more sense and there are a lot of situations in which its 100% a great perk.
But more often than not, average survivors who have PT kinda tend to seek out other survivors to use it instead of splitting up like they should. And thats free pressure for the killer and a lot more manageable.

Hyperfocus is fine tbh, any console player running it trying to hit greats at max 60FPS is gonna be hella funny.
Thats like saying nurse is fine because console players cant play her well : D
Its an interesting perk though probably too restrictive to be meta. I like that they are taking chances with risky perks like this.

@fulltonon said:
If that is easily possible in whatever situations, that is basically equivalent of reverting all the killer buffs.
what's up with BHVR lmao
Wouldnt call being able to semi reliably hit great skill checks easy. But it is possible. Its got some really good synergies with toolboxes which increase the rate of getting skill checks and stake out which gives you freebies so you dont lose your bonus.

You don't get 30 minute games at this point. So far i have the formula down. Play like normal, when someone gets off their second hook, ignore them, or down them but don't hook them. If they are the obsession i kill them. This gives me a 1k so i at least get silver in hooks, then i go for the rest of the hooks on everyone. Then i just cap my bloodpoints and run to the basement or work on challenges like glyphs to let them finish.
Alright but that still prolongs the game and i dont really get why. The game doesnt become hard when you soft cap mmr. The only thing waiting if you lower your mmr is people that are more prone to giving up each game and less experienced survivors.
No wait this is probably because i only play nurse. I can legit 100% understand doing this if you want to play all killers in the roster. Ok i get it.
-
And to be honest i dont believe in MMR at this point. I 3-4k about 9 out of 10 times and have been doing so since basically the dead hard nerf patch.
Games certainly got a bit more competitive after a point but it was more like going from a survivor giving up every other game to survivors not doing that. If thats what higher MMR gets me, im all for higher MMR. And honestly games havent gotten all that hard. I'm not getting seal team 6 swfs every other game, maybe once every 20 games and even when i get swfs they are barely any better than solo qs.
-
I dont want 30 minute games and i dont care about BP?
-
Yeah man solo q players are insufferable. Sorry you have to deal with them.

Then don't complain when you have the option to avoid the perk and voluntarily choose not to.
The correct way to play against ds is to eat it and tunnel the survivor. Unless you are playing a bottom tier killer. Avoiding it makes no sense whatsever. Specially after the patch <3
-
@Firellius said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3135765#Comment_3135765
And what do you accomplish with it? Killer gets a free down and then DS doesn't fire, so you're left on the ground until you bleed out or get help. Which slows down the survivors' progress more than it hinders the killer.
You know what else requires you to get help? Being on hook. Unless you are playing a bottom tier killer just eating the ds and tunneling the survivor makes 100* more sense. Why would i give the survivor a free pass?
-
@Firellius said:

Again, DS cannot be used offensively without killer compliance.
I mean body blocking when you have ds is using it offensively whether you like it or not. You are banking on either being slugged for a minute and getting picked up or using ds to hopefully escape.
And honestly waiting for a minute is incredibly boring. If some one uses ds offensively im eating ds and hard tunneling them each time. Why wouldnt i?
-
Power Struggle, Tenacity, Boil Over, Dead Hard. The only combo that made me want to play survivor. Though its probably just not as fun as straight up playing nurse ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If that happened often, Mad Grit.
Also, that's someone not on a generator. Just drop the survivor and go on a slug fest.
Its boring af to just wait ds out. I'm eating it and then tunneling the survivor out every single time when they use it offensively.
-
@Firellius said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3135617#Comment_3135617
Because it doesn't work. DS requires killer compliance. If someone was unhooked in the last 60 seconds and intentionally goes down, just leave 'em slugged. Just don't hit that space bar. That's all it takes to 100% nullify this perk.
Additionally, AFAIK, DS does not remove exhaustion, so you can't 'DH again'.
Also also: DS being 3 or 5 seconds makes no difference to your absolute doom-scenario.
Its not an absolute doom scenario, its just something that people sometimes do: Use otr and ds offensively and dh just compliments that build really well. I mean its a really solid build with just those 3 perks, not just for bodyblocking.
-
Its a magical spell. When a survivor crouches and walks slowly to you or when they point at you and shake their heads. Or worse yet, when they drop their items! All the aggression leaves your body and survivors go from prey to be put on hook to a fren. Frens are gud
-
@Seraphor said:
Absolutely no problem with DS going to 5s again. Hell it can even work on both unhooks. As long as it remains disabled at end game all is good and right with the world.
The risk of a stacked OtR + DS would be a damn good disincentive to tunnel.
God i already have people body blocking when im carrying a survivor to hook with otr + ds. If they made ds 5 second again that would be incredibly obnoxious to face.
I can right now see people bringing otr, ds, dh and trying to body block 3 hits followed by ds into dh again. I wonder why i only see a few people do this.

What is your reasoning? I mentioned both the strong and weak sides to the perks. Not working on gens is not a point in favor of their strength. The patch was to extend matches which favors killers.
What are my reasoning for thinking a perk that gives you endurance for up to 80 seconds of an unhook that only gets taken away if you heal yourself or touch a gen that also comes bundled with 80 seconds of stealth that includes removal of grunts of pain and complete immunity to aura reading is great? Oh and you keep the stealth part even if you touch gens or heal yourself.
What are my reasoning for thinking why a perk that single handedly obliterates camping, the literal most complained about thing in game is great?
Just ... dude. I understand the mentality of grass is always greener on the other side but this is just insane at this point.

No Way Out: the Killer has to play inefficiently to get maximum value.
Deadlock: the Killer loses an entire Generator for 30 seconds of blockage which gets countered by splitting up on Generators.
Eruption: the Killer has to kick a Generator. The Incapacitated Status Effect can be countered by letting go off the Generator (harder for SoloQ but still not an op Perk).
Pain Resonance: the Killer has to hook a Survivor on 2 of 4 Scourge Hooks that are randomly scattered around the Map. The scream is nigh useless, it doesn't tell you where the Survivors are.
Simply get off the Generator to counter PR/DMS. If the Killer is succeeded using this combo, it's not the Killer that is lacking game sense.
Call Of Brine: the Killer has to kick a Generator, is only active for 60 seconds and can he countered by hitting Great Skill-Checks.
The typical Huntress has seven hatchets, Artist has infinite crows, Deathslinger never runs out of ammo.
So Deathslinger should run out of ammo mid-Trial because you think it's too hard to dodge left/right? My God, please uninstall
The scream is pretty good mate. You can pretty reliably tell where its coming from unless there are multiple generators in the same direction. Dont discard it as useless.

I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make. I literally just said that in simple terms.
Yeah im saying it doesnt have to be due to survivors making a mistake but rather you forcing survivors into that situation.
-
@RatbasterdJr said:
Absolutely, if they are pulling chase by hook (stupid survivor stuff), I will 100% prevent unhook to secure a second stage or a sacrifice. At the very least I will get some injures and a trade. I’ll send the unhooked person off with a hit to mend and the unhooker is going on hook. Gotta do everything to keep them off gens.
Not really, stupid survivor stuff. More like a play you can make.
Hook a survivor at one corner of the map, doesnt really work if you hook them in the middle part.
Check others auras with BBQ, if you see all 3s auras, chase the closest, chances are they are on their way to the hook anyway.
This forces a further away survivor to stop doing gens and go to the hook
If you see that survivor making their way to the hook, even if you have already injured the previous survivor and are about to get a down break chase and chase the other survivor
Hooked survivor goes to 2nd stage or gets sacrificed because 1st chased survivor is already injured or downed and cant make an easy save and you are already chasing 2nd survivor near hook.
This isnt really camping nor is it proxy but it feels dirty af and in the same vein. Well the vein being using any kind of strategy i guess.

Reason why PT is so good is that it takes away the disadvantage of working on a gen together, so splitting up isn’t even that needed.
I mean we get it but if you are together its that much easier to pressure you.
Now if a nurse teleports on that gen she is disrupting 2 people for the price of 1. What a steal!
And as some one who runs lethal pursuer most of the time, i love it when survivors group up at the start of the game. Kinda ensures that i get a good early game.

Don't camp or tunnel. Easy counter. Off the Record was already nerfed.
I can chase and hook 2 people and when i chase the 3rd completely different survivor they sometimes still have OTR.
Which isnt a big deal since it means im getting downs left, right and center but saying just dont tunnel is obnoxious. 80 seconds is an incredibly long time in a game where matches take usually 5 minutes.
I resigned myself to just eating the otr sometimes even when im not remotely tunneling. At least it means the survivor was being largely useless anyway.
Kinda wish people would stop bodyblocking with OTR though, thats annoying af.
-
You can do a gen solo in 40 seconds with the new gen speed perk and stake out.
I think it might be borderline op.

Not for me I can't get that muscle memory everyone speaks of. Without Plad my "hit" rate of blinks is below 30% with it I'm about 50%
I would suggest loading into a game just to practice going from tree to tree and then from an open position to a cluster etc. Practicing for a few games while ignoring survivors really helped me at the start but im guessing you probably tried that.
-
To me it feels great. 3 mil bp give or take and i unlock 3 perks at level 3 across 28-29? characters. I get a mil what, every 2 days? Something like that
-
There is another wildly swinging thing you can do. Might be that.
After blinking on a survivor you can attack and then turn sharply to get the hit in. You can even start the attack and turn 180 degrees and get a hit or wildly swing if you know survivor is close by but have no idea where.
Or ot might be style points lol

Yea because multiple level maps are a hindrance to nurse at times, I can't count how many times I try to blink forward and somehow I go into the basement or first floor of a map. Thats why I run the plad all the time because I can't get that muscle memory every nurse player says they get with her.
Oh cmon the blink muscle memory comes naturally after like 5 games. 10 max

*Sad Trapper noises*
He may not be the best. His power may leave him to be Machete Man a lot of the time. But dammit, I won't give up on him. Hearing survivors scream as they step in a trap makes the happy chemical in the old noodle.
I do wish they'd give Trapper some love. Imagine being the poster child for the game and only receiving minor buffs that allow him to hold one extra trap as base (!). Meanwhile, we've got a Nurse who ignores the game mechanics, a Spirit who shuts down mind games and instadown killers like Bubba. Yeah, giving Trapper some buffs would obviously make him OP *facepalm*.
Yeah man i wish they would show trapper some love.
Hell i wish they would show all the killers considered unviable some love. Its insane how different the game feels when you are playing trapper or clown compared to something like Nurse.

But his power isn't looking at them. It's a dash that's in need of some qol changes. And you're missing the point with lethality. Nurse and Blight have lethality, yet 5 gens get done against them all the time. You can leave your teammate on hook until they're about to hit the next stage and then get them. If the killer camps to make sure that doesn't happen, then you stay on gen and get them done that much faster. Even with 1 guy getting hooked and another guy slugged, they only need to send 1 guy to get someone off the ground or the hook, and the last 1 keeps on the gens. I don't think good survivors will ever even be in that position where someone's slugged and hooked at the same time; that's very much there fault. The neutral state of the game is not favorable for killer, and they can't really do much to switch it off of neutral.
No im just explaining how lethality affects gens. I uhhh in fact know thats not his power, lol.
And yeah i agree that survivors should be time efficient and work on gens while ignoring hook till last sec. Yet that rarely happens and a hook means at least 1 person gets off gens in 99% of games.
And even if they are time effiicient there are ways to force it. If you have bbq or other info perks and know which survivor is best situated to make a rescue you can and should immediately start chasing that survivor to force those that are far away to stop what they are doing and rush to the hook. This specially works in your favor in bigger maps. And it has the added affect of concentrating 3/4ths of the survivors in one part of the map if you can end the chase with the closest survivor soon enough. Which is in your favour.
I play nurse with just PR as slowdown and even in bigger maps i almost never feel like im out of options or gens are going too fast. Even vs pretty good swfs. That is mainly because i can get downs pretty fast.
-
@danielmaster87 said:

I don't think he's going to be oppressive. Blight can't even be oppressive, and he's considered top 2. What you're describing is a killer having good synergy with perks, which is something we don't really see anymore aside from Starstruck/Floods of Rage sweaty Nurse builds, but she makes any build look OP.
His vault still feels kind of jank and slow, unless you do it on those long-fall, 1-way windows after a survivor has just vaulted it, in which case you get massive catch-up. I still feel it's gonna be like a Blight/Nemesis/Artist/Sadako thing where there will be many times where you tried to use your power (which is what you should be doing, else why pick the killer?) but you miss it instead of just going for an M1, which ultimately lengthens your chases by many more seconds than you can afford. Ultimately, whether you're good at using his power and ending chases quick or not, he's still gen rushable. Every perk you bring to strengthen his "oppressive" chase is 1 less slowdown perk for you, so do so at your own peril.
Lethality is gen slow down. If you down some one, that person needs to be rescued. That means some one needs to get off a gen. If you down that guy coming for the save, no gens will be getting done at that point.
Doesnt matter if you have no map traversal or if you move at 50% survivor speed, if your power is downing survivors by looking at them, you have the best gen slowdown in the game.

Trapper.
Agitation, Iron Grasp, Monstrous and anything for flavour.
Purple bag addon and either injure survivors who disarm, or the iri stone.
Get a survivor, down them. Then take them to shack, hook and trap the entire shack. Easy money.
Honest to god forgot trapper exists.
-
Cant use it for distance.
If you are good enough you can still deny a hit and gain even more distance than before but 99% of survivors arent good enough to consistently get a use out of it so they use easier to use perks.

I've been thinking the exact opposite of you in regards to taking advantage of the new Monstrous Shrine - who can activate the faster hook progression quickest? Upon hooking, Onryo (Sadako), Dredge, Blight, Spirit and kinda Wraith have the ability to book it away from the hook after throwing on a survivor.
Especially with Sadako and Dredge you can hook a survivor and immediately teleport away to begin that bonus hook progression.
On another thought process, consider Pyramid Head. Throwing a tormented survivor on a MS hook (for their first hook) adds the threat that the they are very quickly approaching an easy Final Judgement if the PH focuses on booking it away from the hook.
I mean booking it away is nice but unless they can actually camp i dont think it would actually matter.
I think it might be surprisingly good on Ph though, havent considered the tunnel angle.

If its an anti camp perk, obviously no, they wouldnt deserve that. But honestly man havent we talked about this fringe situation enough?

Maybe if this power resource first led into instadowns, then progressed to mori's. So that you have a window where you could potentially make use of hooks if you decide to.
Kinda like Trickster lacerations or any kind of stack system, Condemned etc.
A base power couldn't be as effective as Tombstone Myers, that's only still in the game because its a Very Rare/Iri add on.
And without any way to make a hook rescue, you're basically making tunneling/camping uncounterable.
Wait is Tombstone Myers considered good? Isnt he pretty weak even with it?

The 5 second basekit should be a different status effect than Endurance. This would definetly help against camping.
Your teammates can still use BT or you can equip OtR if you don´t trust that your teammates have BT.
The aim for the patch was to increase kill rates. Not reduce them. Which might explain some of the decisions. But i´m pretty sure, that DS will get back to 5 second stun. Since its timer has been changed several times now.
110% agreed. Killers being able to bypass OTR by hitting a survivor that just gets unhooked is bs.
They should make an exception for base kit BT when it comes to endurance stacking.
