i agree i can see it happening it's just that i don't believe most survivors would actually try to do it but that might just be because i always play solo so for me it's just too random to see it happen a lot. but in the end i think i agree that they should probably try to find a way to make this impossible to do. hmmm maybe they could make it where if reassurance is used and the killers terror radius never comes near the hooked survivor then the hooked survivor can't recieve it again. that way if you realize they are doing it you could wait it out and force them to either unhook or let that survivor die. thoughts?
Yeah completely agreed. I dont expect to see this more than once every like 25-30 games.
I would honestly be fine with that. I would much prefer a condition like the killer must be within 20-30 metres of the hook to be able to use this perk but yours would work pretty much the same way.

Not 'good' swiffers. Godly swiffers. And no, it's not abuse. Why would it be abuse? A perk is used in its intended way. The killer is given ample opportunity to act against it. If they can't, it's just their incompetence.
Is it also abuse when a survivor uses Quick & Quiet to shake a killer by going into a locker?
Oh so now reassurance isnt meant to be an anti camp perk?
Agreed, if we accept that, its not an abuse at all. Hopefully the devs think its an anti camp perk.

I don't think it would ever be balanced. It'll either be too weak, onryo's condemn, or you'll have the ability to kill someone at 5 gens, tombstone piece.
Oh yeah it would be a nightmare for balance.

I doubt they'd want to eliminate the use of hooks entirely.
You could argue that Plague counters any healing related abilities, but there's still scope to bypass it via cleansing and getting injured via M1.
So whatever power this would be would still have to leave room for potential hooks, like Pyramid Head.
I mean. The killer im talking about isnt actually that far fetched mate.
I'm basically describing tombstone Myers except without the ability to even attack. Do tombstone myers tend to attack?

People are arguing over how useful it would be which is not the point. The point is that its an abuse. I know im being an arsehole but not one of these people so far said yeah i can see that happening but its not an abuse because xyz. Its full on denial and insisting people wouldnt do it. Its insane and im more insane for arguing with them.

You'd need to be able to get a full win with one survivor being incapacitated a full chase earlier, and two other survivors operating at partial capacity.
If the killer doesn't manage to get anything out of that, I'm sorry, but you deserve 0K. That's not abuse, that's just the killer getting outplayed.
A single survivor can take the timer from 1 minute to 4. Yes you would need all of those. Does that make it any less of an abuse?
Dude we have been over this, yes it only basically affects good swfs or godly solos. So what, an abuse is an abuse.

Biggest issue the game had, was that it was balanced around casual surivor gameplay. Which made killer extremely stressful. Now the patch changed that a bit towards equalitly and survivors are freaking out how unfun the game is. Well newsflash, thats how killers felt for 5 years.
But instead of adapting, or "gitting gud" how survivors always preached when killers complained, they just give up on the smallest inconvenience. Which ruins the game for everyone else.
*claps slowly*
The people that don´t enjoy the game currently, should just take a break instead of sabotaging the game for everyone else.
On a brighter note. For the last few days i havent encountered a single survivor that dced on first down or just gave up at the start of the game.
-
Pretty abusable.
One more thing to add to the list of things you would be able to do.
Teleport on a falling survivor attack and while they are staggered attack again. I mean dropping from a height is already basically a guaranteed hit for nurse but turning it to a guaranteed down would be pretty funny : P
-
Cause i like twins and even though i main nurse i wouldnt want to associate with people that main nurse in this forum.

Ah yes because the average player is often very reasonable and correct. Buddy i know you will never be good enough at the game to abuse this and im sorry its like this. What?? Lmfao. “If 4 gens popped with 2 hooks the last gen is obviously popping”. Exactly so what is your point? lmfao. You just contradicted yourself. And that has no relation to your first point. Either you don’t understand the game or you’re just a bad troll. And I really hope the devs don’t fall for the few people who don’t understand how the game works and are complaining about the perk like you, and end up nerfing it. It’s a anti camping perk and that’s it. There’s nothing else to it. If you are not camping, the perk us not useful nor should it be used. Simple. Have a good day
Jesus mate, i honestly cant tell if you are honestly unable to get something this simple or if you are just pretending. Either way, you are kinda sad.

There is a question that should be asked, such as why hasn't the killer seen you yet?
The killer has seen you but you are good at looping and didnt get hooked. The killer hasnt caught up to you because you are in a pretty good swf and when the killer is going somewhere or doing something its getting properly called out so you book it or hide before the killer is even close.
Thats the scenario. Yes yes i know this only applies to a really small percantage of players.

You described rare scenario when survivors choosing least bad play against bad play (3v1 against risking 4th teammate being tunneled out). So what? I can tell 20 lose-lose scenario for both killer and survivor, and that ain't one. It's just a "slug" that teammates don't pick up.
More of that, and most important one, if one "tactic" (I still have nausia calling camping a tactic) suffers A LITTLE from one rare scenario, but completely detriments fun and game absolutely for everyone in lots and lots of matches, I can easily sacrifice it.
Camping should be gone. Like DH is gone. Just being not existant.
Reassurance should be a basekit.
Do you think the abuse should be allowed because its rare? My dude what?
I'm not saying im against this perk. Camping is pretty boring and im glad they are bringing a perk like this into the game.
Hell im pretty sure despite me saying its abusable im going to immensely benefit from this perk being popular because i literally do not camp and survivors wasting a perk slot for this perk will be pretty good for me. And ill encounter a scenario like i described maximum once every 25-30 games.
But like, all bhvr has to do to stop the abuse is add a condition that the killer has to be in a certain distance to the hook. Thats literally it?

Oh wow you’re actually serious lmfao. How do you have 900+ posts (meaning you’ve probably played this game a lot) and you still don’t understand the basics. If the survivors use the perk when the killer is on the other side of the map it only hurts the survivors. Simple. They have 1 less person doing gens, totems, gates, healing, etc. the perk ONLY and I repeat, ONLY hurts camping. Leaving somebody on hook “because they are on death hook” even though the killer is across the map is just not beneficial at all. There is 0 reason why that would be good for your team. You not only have 1 less person doing things, you have 2 people running over to keep activating the perk, which is wasting more time. “It’s the difference between getting a 3 man or 4 man out” and so is unhooking the survivor and healing them and they can hide/be extra cautious. “Swf will use this to make sure all 4 get out by keeping him on hook” and it’s almost like we forgot that swf have comms so once the death hook person gets unhooked and healed and starts working on a gen the other survivors can say “he’s not chasing me anymore” or “he’s coming over to you (death hook person)” and then that person gets off the gen and hides. And all 4 still make it out lol and it’s more beneficial for the team.. This perk ONLY hurts camping
In this scenario the gens are getting completed no matter what. If 4 gens popped with 2 hooks, the last gen is obviously popping.
Dude i understand this is a scenario you'll never have to deal with but actually good survivors can make use of it. Git gud and maybe you'll understand how to abuse it.

I don't know why I would do that as survivor, leaving teammate completely useless. Only if I want to throw the match. But as killer, I'm absolutely fine with that. 3v1 is much easier 4v1.
You would do it if they were the only person with 2 hook while every one else had no hooks and there were only 1 gen, maybe 2 left that are already partway done. In that situation, you would be throwing by unhooking rather than stalling with reassurance. Not in the way that you would be more likely to lose no. In the way that you would make a 4 man escape way less likely by giving the killer a bigger time span to sacrifice that survivor.
Yes this is only useful to good swfs. Yes this is not an issue for solo q or average swfs. I know.

@The_Krapper said:

There's no way that's even close to better than having another survivor out doing gens, the only way that's even remotely a good play is if the killer is camping someone other than that you're killing your team by wasting time off gens to pause a guys hook timer with the killer not even there, a good swf would never make a play like that because that's one less body on gens and or keeping the killer busy and if they're good they can run the killer and make the time useful, we can agree to disagree we're all entitled to an opinion I just don't see any scenario other than camping that this would be a good thing, it's more of a hindrance than a blessing
Yes game play wise, its akin to shooting yourself in the foot. It literally increases the workload of the survivor team and the chance of losing.
Yet if the killer got 2 hooks, both on the same survivor, while 4 gens popped, im quite sure that swf team can spare the manpower to keep the literally only person that can realistically be sacrificed on the hook while they pop the last gen and do a 3 man rescue for a 4 man out.
Obviously its not easy to abuse. Doesnt mean its not insanely broken. Imagine 1 gen remaining with 2 hooks on a single survivor thats still on hook. Do you think at that point the survivors need the extra help or do you think they would rather force a 4 man out? If they unhook the guy that got unhooked can be sacrificed. Even if they heal him, even if they try to body block or sabotage hook or try to go for flashlight saves. If they keep him there there is literally nothing the killer can do and unless you are bubba a 3 man rescue will basically ensure a 4 man out after you do all the gens.
I know this offers no game play advantage, i literally told you the same last post. Thats not the only way to abuse something.

Not sure I'd enjoy that idea. Especially if it becomes too commonplace. The Sacrificial Ward offering normally is good to protect against any bias anyway, so there's something already towards that affect within the game.
Yeah, but sacrificial ward is like shattered hope, its useless if they dont bring a map offering.
You know what would be awesome, if sacrificial ward didnt get burned if it doesnt cancel out a map offering. Probably way too strong though, i would literally use it 100% of the time.

If one is on hook, he is inoperational, then it's 3 survs only and you already going for another one. Unless you are camping.
Reassurance must be a basekit.
All you said is true yet it changes nothing? Killer doesnt need to be camping for you to use reassurance. You can do it when they are on the other side of the map.
-
@The_Krapper said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3131717#Comment_3131717
That's not true though because you leaving them on the hook like that makes it easier to snowball because if one of the three go down the others have to rush to the save and stop progressing the game, you have to have faith that person on your team is smart enough to play stealthy and work on gens at that point and even if they get caught, if they spent even 1 minute on a generator before being caught it was more beneficial than them hanging there and the other stopping gens to keep running over and pausing the timer.
Yes survivors need to be in a completely dominant position for this to work. And yes it also increases both the odds of a snowball and the workload of the survivor team.
Guess what, really good swf teams can usually be in a really dominant position. This ensures that if a swf team was winning hard anyway, they can now literally force a 4 man out. The abuse isnt that this makes the game easier for the survivors. The abuse is that if they decide to keep the guy on hook safe, they can. Thats not the intended use of the perk, so its an abuse.
I know dude, this is pretty rare. I get a good swf team maybe once every 20-25 games. Most of the swfs i get are barely above solo. But that 1 team that was already good? Now they are basically untouchable. Is it a big deal? No. Its still abusable af.
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3131707#Comment_3131707
I have to disagree. What's the functional difference for your team if a guy is hanging indefinitely on a hook instead of being sacrificed? They're not doing generators or running the killer either way, it's not actually helping your team at all- it's not even saving the time of running over to unhook them, since you have to run up close to them to use Reassurance to begin with.
Reassurance is only going to be useful if the killer is camping. If they're not, you're shooting yourself in the foot by trying to keep using it.
@ Topic, only two killers could use Thana reliably at all before and as stated, Reassurance is only useful if you're camping. Killer's not only fine, it's in a pretty good spot right now, those two things aren't going to be huge problems.
The difference is the difference between a 3 man out and a 4 man out.
-
@EvilSerje said:
How Reassurance even affect your gameplay if you are proper killer? Definetely won't affect mine.
Reassurance means a single survivor can add up to 3 minutes to any hook stage no questions asked. Doesnt matter if you are near the hook or on the other side of the map. If some one is on death hook and the rest of the team is doing fine, its 100% better to use reassurance to keep the guy on the hook than to save them and risk getting them sacrificed.
Reassurance needs a few conditions to not be batshit insane.

I've not had a single camping killer since the update dropped, most killers play for 8 hooks and then sacrifice. Reassurance will not do anything for the most part, it will just be a replacement for borrowed time in the old meta. A perk to ensure the killer doesn't do an unfun tactic.
Oh wow you most be a statistical anomaly. According to the average forum user they get tunneled and camped literally every single match <3

I don't mind the hooking part it can be annoying against certain builds but generally I think it's fine for how strong his chase power can be.
They are very clunky I agree, stopped maining twins then just stopped aying them after a while because of it
Yeah, same. I became decent with them but playing them feels more like fighting the game more than fighting the survivors. Its such a shame they are the most unique killer they ever created but didnt give them the QoL changes they so desperately need to be viable.
:C Sadge
-
This is already a thing?
-
Guys literally just wait for Reassurance to come live.
Its going to hit the meta like a truck if it makes it to live as it currently is.

@IlliterateGenocide said:
If they just reversed that 5 second stun for using ur power correctly so many more people would play them. That and revert the random addon nerfs
Yeah thats basically the only thing. They feel so hecking clunky to use due to that. I literally thank people for stuning Viktor with a pallet because the switch is way faster.
Oh i also wish they would give Viktor a way to hook people so i dont have to frigging slug people all the time. Do those 2 and Twins is A+ tier.
-
Reassurance is so much more than just a camping perk.
It has so many abuses to the point it changes how the game works. When used correctly it turns the hook into safest place in game. It changes the rules of the game.
It needs way more restrictions. The cool down should start after the ability ends. In order to be able to use it the killer must be within a certain distance of the hook.
Atm it is insane how much it changes the dynamics of the game. The perk is worse than release CoH and im not talking about it stopping camping, im 100% on board with that.
-
I just like how good the core gameplay loop is. Even if i get burned out for playing the game too long its a game i'll keep coming back to. Because its genuinely fun and pretty easy to just pick up and play.

I suppose it depends on the killer:
I'm maining The Onryō currently, and I've had a few offerings for Haddonfield by survivors. But she is surprisingly effective on that map.
Sure, it can be a bit annoying when a Trapper finds themself on Eyrie Of Crows or Mother's Dwelling, but I just treat it as a higher difficulty.
Mind you, it would be better than the alternative of offerings that ban maps. It would just be the same crap over again.
Banning maps would probably be a bit more fair tbh. Unless you can ban 5 maps at once or something.
-
@Marc_go_solo said:
Quite possibly. It would be an extremely dull game were all maps carbon copies.
Some maps are great and some aren't, but the aim is to make maps unique and varying in balance, which for me is great overall because it eleviates boredom and acts as a difficulty level for me..
Agreed. It adds such a variety to the game. Kinda a shame that people can decide the map though.

I dunno. I have a 3080 + Ryzen 5900X. Top of the line,along with an SSD and plenty of RAM. The fact that DBD pushes up against my system limits and has lots of stutters is really,really bad.
The fact that implementing a perk like mercilless storm break BNPs suggests quite clearly,along with the recent Calm Spirit Pig bug that the whole game's codebase is a mess you wouldnt wish upon your worst enemy. They clearly need to devote time to fix the mountains of technical debt they've acquired through going for more and more releases.
Oh i have a 3080 as well. No stutters whatsoever. Game was kinda hard when playing more mobile killers like blight and nurse when i was playing on my 1660 tho.
Ngl, playing nurse is like 5 times easier on 3080 so yeah i gotta agree that game is pretty hardware reliant.
-
@OnryosTapeRentals said:
Wdym by difference? I don't think I understand the question.
Well for example in game, there are if we are being conservative, a billion gazzilion safe pallets.
A map like Eyrie of Crows is pretty open so you can see the killer coming from miles away, is pretty huge so it takes approximately 2 to 5 work days to travel from 1 side of the map to the other.
And a map like Midwich is so tiny compared to the others that a good doctor ability can cover the whole map (maybe, i dont really play doctor all that much)
Seeing which map i got at the start of the match adds a certain spice to the game for me. Eyrie and im trying extra hard or maybe playing a little dirty. Game, im chilling, cause you know, nurse. Etc.

I imagine if they give the technical side of things more time to work on the spaghetti code they converted from UE4 Blueprints the game might not run like Crysis on release.
i think most of the issues of the game are with latency. Game usually runs pretty smoothly for me unless a guy is playing with 200 ms or something.
Though i do have a nice laptop so i dunno.

I don't mind 99% of perks, especially now that Tinkerer got nerfed down to single use, eliminating the Ruin Undying Tinkerer return to gen Blights. Certain combos are annoying like Pain Res/Dead Man's, but those are more annoying because you're dependent on your teammates not being dumb and blocking every gen.
The only perk I ever really just groan when I see is Bamboozle. It's just a lazy perk to slap on when you don't feel like learning how to correctly run tiles, and it reduces every single chase to just dropping pallets on a timer because the interesting window vault plays get removed. Plus 99% of players that run it just hold W and bloodlust because you're prevented from using windows anyway.

Tunneling is when a killer does everything in his/her power to get someone out of the game, ignoring other survivors, gens, winning and all that
If the killer player is ignoring other survivors and gens they are more likely going to lose not win.
Depends. Average survivors unhook as soon as you give them the opportunity. That means you can hook some one 3 times in as little as a minute sometimes. Smarter survivors sit on gens even when some one is hooked and try to save closer to struggle time/ death time in order to be time efficient.
Hell, most of the strategies depend on how time efficient survivors are. Thing is the usual survivor is pretty damn inefficient with their time because of the lack of information in the base game.
Is some one else going for the save? Who knows. Is there anybody closer to the hook than you? Beats me. Is the killer staying around the hook or moving in a certain direction? Good question. Is the killer coming in your direction? Perhaps. Killers in your area looking to hook you up? Click here!
