I think the idea I like best so far is to significantly slow the hook timer when the killer is within X meters of the hook, with X carefully chosen so the killer is enticed to not just stand around a hook but not so far that the killer can't feasibly react to a rescue in a reasonable timeframe. (Something like X= 20 or 25 meters might work for instance.) That would put the base game in line with perks like Devour Hope, Make Your Choice and the new Monstrous Shrine which also all encourage killers to steer clear of a hooked survivor to gain a benefit. You still could hypothetically have a killer just face camp anyway for no reason at all, but at least in that case in the above system the timer would go so slowly that the rest of the survivors could much more easily finish all the gens and escape in the meantime, even against something like a face camping Bubba.
As far as the idea in the original thread above, I don't like the idea of the base game unhook Endurance being treated differently from other Endurance effects. I could see its duration being increased to 7 seconds to give the survivor more time to get to safety or at least a loop or pallet if the killer decides to chase them. That said note that increasing the base game Endurance from an unhook still wouldn't protect you from a face camping Bubba specifically since their chainsaw will just shred through Endurance like it's not there. So I do think another system like the timer slowdown I mentioned is probably needed instead to cover that.
And this is all assuming we're talking specifically about so called "hard tunneling" straight off an unhook being something the devs might want to disincentivize. Other types of so called "tunneling" (e.g. a killer following you after they injure you to secure a down, or intentionally choosing to down an injured person over a healthy one or an already hooked survivor over an unhooked one) aren't a problem.
Yeah i agree that some people have very broad definition of what tunneling is. I'm talking about hard tunneling right off the unhook, this change would have no game play consequences after the base BT wears off anyway.
Imo hard tunneling shouldnt be this easy and base bt stacking would just punish people that do it right off the bat. Its the same idea behind DH rework: Game flow wise it feels terrible.

So the meta change, if we dont have Dead Hards we have 4 Lithes or Sprint Burst, Off the Record or just a back to back Dead Hard.
It was supposed to be "meta change", but I don't see much diversity tbh. People still go for whatever is strong
DO YOU SEE THE USAGE RATE OF PROVE THYSELF???
You showed me a very varied perk rooster friend. Yes i see the usage of prove thyself its usage is around 25-30% by my guesstimate. I'm not surprised, its a good perk.
Would you like to equip discordance so you counter it? Perhaps eruption so multiple survivors are incapacitated with a single kick?
Or would you, as we keep saying survivors, rather not adapt to the new meta and just complain instead?

I am not taking out my real life issues on you by camping as Leatherface homie... I am just chilling. Like???
There is no ill will, fam. It could be you, it could be the Jane, probably definitely the Jane. I love chasing Jane. I digress, or even Shirtless David. Unless that is a hate crime... Felix? Whatever, you get the point. I do not discriminate. No need to take it so personal. We out here just vibin'.
The meaning of toxic is lost in the fog in this game.
Killers arent tunneling or camping because they want to mess with survivors, they are just trying to win. Its by definition not toxic.
We can call it unfun, we can call it a crutch we can call it a hundred things but its not toxic.
And some killers like bubba and hag are basically designed to camp. Saying those killers camped is like saying you saw a fish swim, what did you think was going to happen.
Its the same with killers that think body blocking and using DH was toxic or better yet doing gens fast was somehow toxic. Oh no the survivors are cooperating and trying to achieve their objectives, how dare they >:C
-
Tunneling and camping are crutches.
Tunneling and camping is not toxic.

Your math does not calculate any variables. Almost no-one start to run away from killer until they see him meaning you usually get first hit very quickly and if they run straight and don't loop you down them in 10s roughly. Some of my first chases even last under 10s if the survivor get bit stuck on object front of him.
The new spine chill is amazing for telling you immediately if you are running away from the killer or accidentally towards them. Im a baby survivor but that thing just carries me.

Fun thing. I had two days of soloq with just one game not escaping. But that was just mmr being on point:4 good survivor vs one really bad killer. Today I had the usual experience: 3 at best average mates vs one average or even bad killer. Not a single escape. I even lost against a babynurse that needed like 6 or more blinks to hit someone but with tunneling the first bad mate out at 2 remaining gens and stacking her slowdowns it was impossible to get those two gens done.
So its a problem of matchmaking <3
-
Hahahaha you got me : D
You got me.
Edit: Also im very happy with all the exhaustion perks being used now. That includes new DH. Its beyond liberating not having to worry about each and every hit and just swing when you are on top of a survivor.
What they did was beyond great for the overall flow of the game. The big scary psycho catches up to you and then waits several seconds to see if you would dash forward or not was not how this game is meant to be played.

So they're always hurt , I hit them and they have endurance . They dont dead hard cause I know the animation and will re watch it .
Lots of perks give endurance but most probably its syptic agent or something. 8 seconds of endurance on use.

But why?
Alright ok, tough sell huh?
How about insidious is base kit but standing still for 4 seconds summons a duck that chases survivors AND the killer.
The duck is able to steal survivors items and killers weapon and hide them.
The duck will honk if it sneaks up on you and force you to do a hard skill check.

Remember when all the survivors were trying to convince everyone that killers would be complaining about Sprint Burst and Overcome if DH got nerfed?
Where are the pages and pages of Sprint Burst nerf threads? what happened, is it a skill issue?
Oh yeah man i remember those threads. People claiming SB is way better than DH and saying we would all regret it if DH was nerfed : D

How to say you know how to play nurse without knowing how to play nurse LMAOO
I'm a nurse main

How to play nurse effectively
Step 1- Learn her blink distances
Step 2- Nah we are good that was the whole guide.

@Sludge said:
You were always screwed if a Nurse decided to tunnel what difference did the patch really make?
Agreed but with the 3 seconds stun its much, much easier to keep track of a survivor now if a nurse wants to tunnel and that makes things a lot easier for her.
Its the difference between a chase taking 20-30 seconds or maybe even the survivor getting away if they also had IW and the chase taking 5 seconds.
-
Huh, your mmr stabilized when you reached baby killers?
Huh, thats something.
-
Nurse 2 electric boogaloo.
Its just like regular nurse but we taped a pair of rollerskates to her feet so she moves at 7 m/s
Downside, she literally cant stop and if she collides with walls a laugh track plays.

I mean a weaker killer like wraith probably needs it.

An overwhelming majority of killers think it’s massively unfun to go against a SWF with voice communication, to the point where BHVR can’t ever let the killer know if the lobby contains a SWF. Does that mean SWFs should be looked at?
Yes, obviously.

Played against a Pyramid Head who tunneled, kept missing with his power against one survivor just constantly baiting him, then 3-man slugged to ensure there was no chance of escape. He had 1 gen left. The entire team rallied together to stop the killer from tunneling me out. It unfortunately did not work.
Killer was very smug and self-satisfied in their "win". Didn't feel like I got outplayed, but I guess this is what the devs want.
Its exactly what should happen. If a team throws themselves to the killer to prevent them from sacrificing 1 guy, the team should lose.
Except of course they are smart about it and just take 1 hit, get right out of there, heal and continue what they were doing. That should win pretty much every time. But we both know that wasnt your team mates.

People play games for fun. If overwhelming majority of players complain about something being really unfun, that should maybe be looked at.

I wanted them to nerf slowdown perks into the ground, but they're too scared to do it. Some got nerfed but others were buffed, how is that a meta shake up?
Boring.
They are 100% mandatory. Disable them all for a month and you'll see how bad it is.
My dude im memeing around with a make your choice, insidious nurse build. A bit to lower my mmr a bit because i dont wanna play seriously and the 3 games i tried with that build have been 4k/4k/3k
I'm running Make Your Choice/Insidious/Floods/Lethal .
None of them were throwing either. Granted its probably harder on m1 killers but why play m1 killers in dbd.
-
@Sludge said:
I thought there was gonna be a meta shake up?
Slowdown perks are still mandatory, they just changed which ones people use, meh.
They really are not. Except against really good swfs. And why would you plan against really good swfs, they are a 1 in 10 at most thing.

Alright we’ll just pretend 10 extra second gens, pallet and gen kicking, insane killer perk buffs and attack cooldown buffs did nothing. Name one thing other than a useless 5 second endurance and Off The Record that really benefited survivors this patch.
Worse killer slowdowns overall so prove thyself + swfs got a buff? I dunno game seems fine to me on pretty much most levels
-
Dh is gone and killers got substantial buffs at the same time + good amount of perk changes.
Some would say these changes are too much at once, i disagree as well.
Sounds like you are just burned out. Try out some new games and hopefully in a month or 2 game is fun for you again.

Against Nurse? There isn't really a TR to begin with. Either boon the Plaything or leave it. Honestly, Penti is just so easy to counter. You can't balance around the fact that some people play badly, anymore than you can balance around people DCing or suiciding.
Yeah, Starstruck - just peel away from the person as they go down and you can escape it maybe 4 times in 5. If you don't, hide and wait it out.
Hiding is really risky when we run floods of rage/bbq. Best thing to do is just split up at the start and hopefully not have to deal with starstruck.
Otherwise some one affected by starstruck, that thinks they are hidden while nurse has however many seconds of aura reveal is pretty easy to deal with.

I think that if a survivor turns the corner of a wall and waits for the nurse, flashlight in hand, it can really surprise her, because the survivors who do that ... personally, I have never come across one! 😮
I'll really have to try it in the custom part, to see what it looks like!😀
The other reason that makes me think that waiting for the nurse at the corner of the wall, a little bit behind, can be interesting (generally speaking, it's the principle of preventing her from using her second tp), is that at that moment, she has just used her first tp.
So she is inside what is called her teleportation window : she can't stay indefinitely on hold, she must either attack, or use her second tp, or do nothing.
Therefore, preventing her from using her second tp, whether she is looking at the flashlight, or turning around, will force her to enter a fatigue phase.
Can also do it on first blink afaik. But its really not practical to do it alone imo. When you are targeting 1 survivor another one can try to burn you to make you choose between targeting them instead or getting burner.
Doesnt always work but its pretty cool.

@Marc_go_solo said:
Not sure if this is still a thing, but I hope to find out when I play a bit this afternoon: does she suffer from _lightburn_ still?
The reason I'm interested is that, of all the debating back and forth, this isn't mentioned as one way of taking her on.
From what I remember, if you shine a light on her she cannot charge her power at all, so can be useful if needing an extra second or 2 to find cover. Also, if you time it right when she's charging, shining a light at her can result in her being stunned, like Wraith. Apparently, you don't need to aim for the face neither.
Obviously, this is a small bit to countering her out of all the debating, but thought I'd add this in case people weren't aware. By the way, this is not a post saying she should or shouldn't be changed - her add-ons could do with a once-over - but for now it may help.
Yeah she suffers from it but its not instantaneous and pretty hard to pull off. Specially because there is a good chance she can turn around and blink to you instead

My Survivor build also contains 2 second chance Perks, tho mine are way, way less meta.
Flip-Flop and Tenacity work pretty well together, but they still kinda suck
You run Power struggle?
-
That sounds like a pretty great build. More people should run OTR and DS together imo. Yeah it can be 2 useless perks if killer doesnt tunnel but if they do, it would be devastating.
And new DH is pretty awesome. It takes precision and timing now but no other perk lets you get out of a really sticky situation at the press of a button.
Overall, pretty neat build, i dont see an issue with it as a killer main. Specially now that they are more in line with other perks. Well expect DS, that probably needs a bump up to 4 seconds of stun.

The Problem whit Nurse that makes her so strong sie is the only Killer that didnt Care about the awful Map Design
She doesnt care if the Map is to big she doesnt care if die Map is full of paletts or Save loops, she doesnt care if the Main Building is busted becasue of the many windows that makes her so strong
The only Thing i Really would nerf about Nurse is that 1 shot perks like hounted grounddoesnt activated when she hit some1 after the Blink her blink should count as a Special Attack
I mean i am kinda average at nurse and to me at least closed maps like the treatment theatre is extremely hard.
Maybe its a skill issue but if we are talking maps, closed maps with a ton of clutters that make blinking really hard or eat up blinks altogether and a ton of line of sight breakers is kinda hard.

I doubt they'd completely rework her to the point she is like a normal killer, so here's my suggestions.
Make it 1 blink by default, and 2 addons that add blink charges. If people want safety blinks that would prevent them from stacking range/recharge addons. Nurse having 2 blinks has always felt to me like it would be an addon you'd take as a safety, or extra strength.
Also make her blink attacks count like Blight's charging attacks. A secondary attack that's not gonna proc noed/starstruck. At least the blinks past the first one.
Nurse with 1 blink would be C- tier. Thats not a nerf.

Nurse is what an interesting killer should be. Has some skill ceiling, is fun to play and changes the game mechanics in a fun and unique way.
The only other killer thats on her level in terms of being interesting to play and changing the rules of the game is the Twins.
Less basic M1 killers, more of those please and ty.

It thematically makes sense. A person jumping in front of the masked psycho thats been targeting the same vulnerable person since the start of the movie. By jumping in front of the psycho they are probably going to get hurt, but it will give valuable time for the other person to escape.

When survivors are properly matched, matches are pretty fair.
It's when the MMR craps out it becomes an issue.
I've noticed more groups (not specifically SWFs) who were able to do very good anti-Nurse jukes. Maybe if there are more Nurses at the moment, they got some experience and are becoming better at versing her.
Yeah less and less people just hold W in a straight line and expect it to work. Its nice.
