  • People kill themself on hook because moral is low. If some is doing it to deliberately inflate kill rates they are so much in the minority that it doesnt matter. Its still inflated af though.

  • Can you activate SB as an oh ######### button or in the middle of a chase? Well yes but you have to inconvenience yourself, set it up before hand and basically be useless to your team while its set up. Also if i blink right on top of you or take a nice shot with Gunslinger or Huntress, SBing for distance wont help you much, or at all.

Also wow it didnt take much for people to cry about SB, survivors were right about that lol

First, I love how you put this, I will not deny DH is in fact a problem for sure, but I am very happy to understand that you know where I'm coming from here. Cuz DH definitely needed a nerf, my friend and I personally hated it and I don't even play killer as often as him.

I also agree with the amount of complaints after the patch first released, I think this was mainly because console players didn't have the chance to experience the PTB like PC players did and this was their first taste of the changes. But I do also agree how a few complaints I have seen were justified which was the increase in camping and tunneling I've noticed and others have as well, and how the Survivor meta has been changed, but the Killer meta roughly stayed the same with just stacking slow down perks but now it's become stronger.

I made a post actually addressing Solo-queue and despite no mention of DH it did come into the conversation due to one of the people who need to keep saying like a drone that it was nerfed.

Both sides have their issues, DH which was definitely one, and it was nerfed it's just when certain people need to say it every other comment/post talking about the update is what irks me.

I'm gonna be the ######### that brings it up even when its not mentioned but DH was so prelevant and so powerful that even if nobody in game had it (which was basically never mind you) the killer still had to respect it at least 4 times in chase. This slowed games down considerably. It is unironically liberating not having to worry about DH and a good reason why survivors are going down way faster is because killers dont give a ######### about DH now.

So yeah, even you who never used DH was kinda carried by DH.

I was being devils advocate a little bit but i unironically think this is one of the secret ingredients in that meal, a lil piece of that puzzle, a lil something something ☀(▀U ▀-͠)

I mean, it's getting two additional survivors off gens, isn't that what the killer wants when they camp? They've then got at least two injured survivors, and are forced to chase one of them, ending the camping.

When killers camp they want kills : P

Getting survivors off gens is nice, survivors being 100% able to rescue some one off the hook without even a hook trade is a little bit too strong. Granted it would fix camping for most killers that are not bubba, huntress, maybe trickster, billy, micky and i think thats all of the killers that would still be able to somehow camp. It would unironically kill camping for the rest of the killers. And hey, which might be fine. Camping is still a crutch.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3090329#Comment_3090329

I don't feel like I see this happening all that much, and when it does, it's only ever against hard campers. (again, disable it at end game if it's too strong, so it's not affecting 'valid' camping)

I mean it doesnt happen much atm because this strategy doesnt exist atm. If you come with 2 people, killer can hook grab 2 people. If we were to do this change, this would become meta since you know it would be Most Effective Tactic Available.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3090313#Comment_3090313

Then go the DS/OtR route. No hook grabs before the exits are powered.

And 2 survivors only secure the unhook if the killer is flustered and hits the wrong survivor. If you're standing right behind the survivor you still get to hit them twice, even if a third survivor gets the unhook, you still get a down and a fresh hook out of it.

If you come with 2 survivors there are no wrong survivors. You wait around the hook till the killer hits one, that person immediately starts running while the other unhooks while killer recovers. Its not a mindgame, its a 100% guarantee.

For the while i would just not hit them till they commit argument, then the survivors would just start the unhooking and force you to hit them.

So realistically vs survivors with a modicum of skill, you are not going to be hook trading.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3090308#Comment_3090308

With the reduced attack cooddown, you can easily swing twice during an unhook attempt.

Dunno, would be cool to see though

Edit: Would be a basically guaranteed rescue when 2 survivors attempt it though, and it would seriously limit killers options during EGC. On further thought, its worse than nuclear for sure mate.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3090280#Comment_3090280

Then we just swing back to survivors having it easy and the cycle repeats...

Although one 'hard nerf' I would be in favour of is removing grabs on unhook attempts. these grabs only result in 'stand offs' at the hook where neither survivor nor killer wants to act first. This would prevent campers scoring two hooks from one, forcing them to swing and only get a hook trade. That benefits survivors because it resets the hook timer, but it doesn't majorly punish killers for camping all that much, so would it be an effective means of 'removing that crutch'? It would certainly make it more bearable for survivors.

Edit: I think that would be too much but would like to see how that would affect the meta in the PTB. It would at least add skill to camping lol

  • @tamsmi said:

do yall ever think that if a brand new killer is getting 4k's on survivors that have upwards of 1k, 2k and 3k hours they might be buffed a little too much? maybe the answer isnt that the 3k hour player doesnt know how to play? like come on. be serious

I have unironically seen a 7.5k hours player that sucked. I think this obsession over how many hours people have is kinda useless. For one reason or another, some people just dont dont improve after a certain skill level, or even get worse with time.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3090256#Comment_3090256

For sure there will always be killers who just want to camp and tunnel no matter what.

But there are also killers who only camp and tunnel because it's the best option, or because they feel the alternative is inefficient.

Make the alternative efficient, and those killers will be able to stop camping and tunneling.

Lots of killers just choose the meta perks and put up with them. Like how killers would run Ruin Undying, but still camp abd not pressure gens, while complaining that Ruin doesn't work.

That's an example of punshing camping that actually works. They may never realise their fault, but if they do, they'll stop camping.

If the meta perks cannot be utilised to their fullest when camping, that's a nerf to camping.

''But there are also killers who only camp and tunnel because it's the best option, or because they feel the alternative is inefficient.'' Also because its extremely easy and requires no skill. This is very, very unlikely to ever change no matter how much you buff other perks. You can make BBQ aura reveal 10 seconds and it would mean nothing to some one who is bad at chases and already has a person on hook with an almost guarantee that more survivors are coming to their location.

Again, tunneling and camping is already not necessary at all but its rampant. This is, as far as my memory serves, the easiest killer has ever been. But people are still tunneling and camping because its a crutch. You cannot not make it into a crutch by buffing other perks. Gotta go nuclear and make it so if the killer is within 24 metres of the hook for 20+ seconds the hook timer gets +30 seconds or something like that. Dunno what could be done about tunneling, probably literally just revert DS.

I understand your good intentions but i honestly just think a good portion of killer base are just bad at the game and need their crutches taken away like we had with survivors.

  • A strong item, prove thyself and off the record. They can do w/e for the rest of the perks.

Agreed we need to throw some bone to solo survivors so people whine less. Unironically

  • Those dont prevent camping, they gently suggest not to camp. But a killer that wants to camp will still just bring 4 auto slowdown perks and camp. Cant stop it.

I used to think like you, i said people were tunneling and camping because of the meta. Then we got a huge killer buff and lo and behold, people are still camping.

Now im convinced that most killers got used to camp and tunnel and used it as a crutch but now that we dont actually have to do it, they cant just stop because they no longer know how to play without it. Same deal with survivors that relied on DH and were impressively boosted after the patch. I legit encountered 7.5k hour player that managed to go down in less than 10 seconds each chase after the patch. Relying on a crutch = boosted, same for killers same for survivors.

  • The longest 4 man escape streak was 500+ and it only ended because the group got bored.

Please .... just leave pros with insane skills out of the discussion about meta. 99.9999999999% of players are and will never be that level of skill. DBD isnt balanced from top down.

And if we were to balance the game from top down survivors would have to be nerfed so hard it would kill the game in a single day.

Also congrats SupaAlf for the amazing, impressive, thick, girthy and long win streak

Or kick gens with reducing 2.5% while having overcharge and eruption. Once he cleared a lot of pallets (which he has plenty of times before gens pop) he can just down any injured survivor in that area and KABOOOM, progress lost on all kicked gens and survivors incapicated for 25 seconds.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3087751#Comment_3087751

ye its only that simple as a survivor. As Killer na na, prepare for an essay why old DS and DH were absolutly gamebreaking OP and like cheating while current Killer slowdown meta is "just ignore it bro"

Legion when every one is injured is a basic attack killer.

doesnt matter when with maxed thana they can double the games overall length does it? :)

Hardly fun but hardly the worst thing to face. Thana is strong on legion for sure, no doubt. But at the end of the day its still legion. On other killers (except plague) thana is pretty meh because nobody is going to just stay injured.

Thana is overhyped. Legion is meh and i imagine less and less people will be using him after the initial wave after the patch.

  • legion when every one is injured comes pretty damn close, do they not : )

  • Does 2 minute gens matter when you are up agains a basic m1 killler with no power?

  • It means if the killer wants to take out 1 guy out of the game by any means necesarry, they should be able to. Otherwise what chance would they have against 4. Though its a bit off tangent because you are saying its a d!ck move and they are saying if a single survivor is able to survive vs a similarly skilled killer when the killer is trying their best to sacrifice that single survivor whole match, the game would be broken. And both of those things can be true at the same time.

  • Congrats on the career. Dh is gone and so is survivor morale. Give it a few days and theyll probably improvise, adapt, overcome. Which should be 3 seperate perks that goes well together btw.

Why would you go off of a graph instead of hoping in the game and testing it yourself? These minor changes don't do anything for killer. The only thing that mattered in this patch was borrowed time as a base kit which is fine but when you have the base kit+the perk, the game is nuts. It'll only be a matter of time before the good survivors know how to abuse it.

Cause i am not going to get a timer and check it? It feels plenty strong on gunslinger.

  • Was going off of a graph i saw a day or 2 back, sorry if its wrong.

I condone this post, like it or not these changes have been incredibly huge, specially favoring killers, and altho I personally think thana isn't even that good now and is just a case of mass hysteria, killer perks have to be watched closely to avoid the killer meta becoming way too annoying or just play unfair to soloq, in fact I fully believe sbfl on demo or other killers that can save stacks is way more powerful than thana on plague/legion, and my leagues more powerful.

Oh yeah, stbfl is nuts on some killers now. Survivors get 1.1 second of distance at 8 stacks. Thats ... impressive : D

Red ranks though are worse now unfortunately though. Every win feels like its done on the skin on your teeth as killer.

The prove thyselfs are out of control, with survivors just pre-dropping every good pallet, and pumping out 3 gens in 2-3 mins. SWF in high ranks is worse than ever since the ruin + undying + tinkerer combo is obliterated.

So start running something like discordance, eruption. Discordance should be particularly good in that meta.

I have been seeing 1-2 prove thyselves per game but thought nothing of it because despite using 0 slowdown im doing fine. Granted im playing nurse and its probably worse for m1 killers.

  • @The_BiggCheeze said:

    I just don't see it.

I've played 3 games of Legion with Thana, Oppression, Gift of Pain, Overcharge, No Sleep Pills and that add on that speeds legion up by .3% after each frenzy hit in Midwich, Pretty much everything was in my favor. Even with all that and all 4 of them injured they were still pumping out gens, even popping some right as I'm getting to them. It legit felt the same as it did before the patch.

To be fair the game doesn't feel much different overall. Survivors can still hold W to a close loop (Which there can be a lot of), Survivors can still heal in an empty corner with a boon, they can still get a pallet drop with dh.

The only difference I've seen is that all the people who RELIED on dh absolutely suck without it and the people who didn't rely on it feel the exact same to play against.

So I'll restate the title but word it a little differently...

    I don't get the hype.

Thats not all that happened. We break pallets faster now, we actually do some damage with kicks, we lose less distance after a hit, we barely lose no distance with 8 stacks of stbfl, we dont have to deal with dh (holy ######### thank valve), we dont have to deal with literally 0 sound when some one is injured (holy ######### thank valve) and we dont really have to deal with ds either. Its a vastly different game.

  • @MikeyBoi said:

I mean is there really any good survivor perks now?

Yes there are. There arent any busted survivor perks now though.

  • Iron will, like DH was pretty damn busted beyond belief. The cap at noise reduction is pretty good. They didnt need to basically make it an exhaustion perk though, that was a bit too much.

He does not care whatsoever about surviving or dying. Idk about you but most people want to win while having fun or at least not getting steam rolled. I can have fun while memeing but my MMR will drop so much that I’m gonna be smurfing. That’s what your missing.

Why do killers complain when they only get 1K if they can meme around and have fun? Plenty of killers farm or just meme around with the survivors. Am I missing something?

Ah i see what you mean, thanks.

I love Scott but he mostly runs meme builds and trolls lol. He also has not been experiencing the huge increase in tunneling and camping which, while it does not make his opinion invalid, he also can’t experience being tunneled and camped at 5 gens for no reason almost every match.

And the only reason he doesn’t play killer is because of the queue times.

Dudes just playing solo survivor like every one else. If he can run meme builds and have fun, so can you. What exactly am i missing?

  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3085815#Comment_3085815

Scott is mostly a killer main. Saying survivors simply need to adapt is making light of the issue that survivors have been nerfed 6 years non-stop and might be tired of adapting. Killers were massively buffed so they don't have to adapt.

Survivors got nothing to replace their meta perks, while killers simply got more or even stronger slow gen perks with STBFL as base-kit and slower gens on top of more slow down regression perks. Scott didn't talk about that.

Scotts not a killer main, he is some one that went through the usual process of being a killer main, burning out on the game, trying other games and then coming back to be basically play 90% survivor.

  • Cant say for others but when i run into a lobby with higher than normal prestige levels, the normal for me being around 10-12 atm, i perk up in my seat a little bit and try to bring my A game to the game right from the start. Those matches are usually pretty fun.

Dont really care either way if its just 1 guy

  • Really? You give up a perk slot for a mechanic that can be avoided 9 times out of 10? Ok

  • @Seraphor said:

There's no such thing as an anti-tunnel perk for survivors. That's the falacy both players and BHVR need to get over.

A killer who gets hit with DS isn't suddenly going to stop tunneling. Due to the sunk cost falacy they now have to catch that survivor.

Actual anti-tunnel perks are Killer perks, like Devour Hope, Make Your Choice and BBQ when it made you hook unique survivors.

Thats just positive incentive vs negative incentive. And what you fail to consider is killers are free to just stack 4 slowdown perks and camp/tunnel which in most cases is far more effective than what they would have gotten from perks like devour and bbq meanwhile if survivors have strong anti tunnel perks like 5 second stuns, killers usually play around them.

Since the patch i never once considered whether or not a survivor had ds, when before i might have left them on the ground to possibly be picked up. Not even tunneling btw, sometimes you just come across the same survivor.

  • @Murgleïs said:

You know it’s already broken and banned in comp right ?

Banned in comp doesnt mean much for casual play. Forced penance is S tier in comp, how many killers have you seen use it?

  • I didnt say generator that has multiple people. I said a couple generator thats being worked on. Though now that i think about it, people would just let go right before a hook. So something like you see the aura of the furthest generator with x amount of progress would be alright without being too strong imo. Or maybe you see the aura of the furthest survivor for 2 second or something. Something not as good as a perk but still a good incentive.

If you personally play like this that's okay. But you need to understand it need to be some reward for not tunneling and camping because as it is right now there is zero reason not to do it. 15% regression, haste, bbq base kit, whatever it is there need to be some incentive.

Yea yea i agree with you 100% mate. Its just that 15% regression is way too strong. I am just saying that i would much rather appreciate some aura reading or just to see a couple of generators thats being worked on highlighted which would point me in the right direction.

Thats a different topic altogether. Lets take the baby steps first where you accept to yourself that playing with friends in this game is inherently different from playing with friends in other games and comes with great benefits and then we can discuss whether or not playing with friends is healthy for the game. Which i agree that it is.

I’ve been playing since fall of 2019 but I don’t know what that has to do with anything.

It has to do with your inability to grasp the basics of basics. Its expected from a beginner, some one a bit more experienced has to delude themselves to not understand the basics.

  • @kaskader said:

    Tunneling and camping:

Increase the base kit BT and haste duration to 12 seconds.

Add a base kit kindred to allow solo queue survivors better coordination in unhooking situations.

Fulfill the promise about HUD indicator of what each survivor is doing at the moment.

killer now gets an 15% automatic regression on the next kicked generator while at least 24 meters from the hook, this change would reward and motivate the killer to leave the hook and giving him a way to pressure the survivors without needing tunneling and camping strategy.

    Perks:

    Thana:

Lower the penalty to 2,5% (10% total) for each survivor and make it apply also for healing.

    DS:

Bring back the 5 seconds stun and lower ds active time to 45 seconds however while ds is active you now gain a 5% haste.

Mate i agree with most of your points but as some one who doesnt run a single slowdown perk, doesnt tunnel or camp and still wins more often than not, i have to disagree with the free 15% regression. Would unironically be too strong. I would quite happily take some free info though

  • Did you guys try stacking OTR and DS if tunneling is that much of a problem? Feels like it should work quite nicely together

And dont you try to think why they dc? Perhaps because UFC’s someone is down at the start you have 0-% chances of win? And with win I don’t say 4e, only 1e

.... What? If some one goes down at the start you just lose?

No? Thats not how this works unless you make it into a self fullfilling prophecy by dcing when you go down. I had multiple games where i hooked 7-8 survivors before the first gen popped and then struggled to close out the game because survivors got it together and made a come back. Its not over till survivors start actively throwing.
