    Too weak? Too strong? Perfect?

I personally think it’s a bit too weak since it doesn’t really stop the killer from just chasing you again. If we gave it the self preservation effect for 8 to 10 seconds I feel the perk would be perfect

I’d love to hear all your thoughts on the perk!

Not weak, but certainly not strong. They should make it so, the longer you get tunneled, the more uses you get, like a token system that charges while in chase. If the killer chases you forever, he will have to deal with your DS 5 times. Boom, tunneling is now gone forever. I guess they could also make it so the not yet obtained tokens decay after some time when not in chase (think of it as a Diversion completion. The longer you are chased, the more it becomes red. When fully red, you get a token. But if you aren't in a chase for some time, and the perk is red but not completed, the red part will start to decay).

From the devs' perspective, all these issues are tolerable and don't stop people from playing the game, since everyone who experiences them keeps playing the game.

You know what I did when I found the matchmaking an issue because I kept getting survivors who were much stronger than me? I stopped playing killer altogether (instead of playing occasionally). I didn't play killer, reach high ranks, complain about the matchmaker, and then continued playing, because that just means I don't really mind the problem.

There is a difference between acknowledging the problem and treating it as if it isn't. People playing doesn't mean they don't have issues that make the experience unbearable, in the slightest. It just means, in this case, that the devs had the brilliant idea of pushing something that shouldn't have been out with the current issues, in the form of an event (which is a copy and paste of last year's, anyway). And since event stuff can only be obtained during the event (more than anything else, increased BPs, since we haven't seen them for ages), people play. But the problems are there, and the threads describing them, too.

I am playing Siege right now. I have been paying since Mira was added.

I remember the Clash bit specifically. She was disabled MULTIPLE times. Nearly every time that exploit came up. My friends used to joke about maining her while she was disabled. That said, while it happened multiple times, it was still fixed. Ubi was also pretty open about fixing it. Mira had the same thing where she could hold up a mirror and a gun at the same time.

The difference here, however, isn't random bugs or exploits happening in DbD. It's the CORE GAMEPLAY LOOP. To compare to Siege, it would be like if that game allowed Defenders to run out during the drone phase and shoot the attacking operators. In fact, in its early days, I think that was ACTUALLY possible, so they made it so Attackers didn't physically spawn in until the drone phase was complete. It's also why every level was given multiple LoS blocks to the attacker spawns. Even minor updates see assets added to block run outs and spawn peaks at the start of a match on certain maps with notorious issues. Most recently was Chalet, and before that Border.

DbD does none of that. To make another point of this, Siege has roughly 200-250 devs working on it. DbD has 500-600. Siege radically altered the core gameplay to improve it when the launch was a mess, and pulled that game up from the ashes into a VERY good, albeit punishing, game. BHVR DID improve the game from its early versions, but many core gameplay issues remain despite how long they've been a problem. BHVR seems perfectly fine letting problematic core gameplay design issues just sit there, creating problems. In Siege, the devs understood that having problematic run outs and spawn peaks wasn't fair to the players, so they fixed it. They also understood that leaving those problems in the game would mean that players would use them. In DbD, we still have camping and tunneling, and they've scarcely been addressed. What's worse, when the devs come up with an idea on how to fix it, they make the fix an optional perk instead of a core gameplay adjustment. Imagine if, in Siege, to avoid a run-out or spawn peak that got you killed upon your character model being spawned in, you had to swap your rifle for a shield. Rather than fix the issue, they just gave you the OPTION to sacrifice your gameplay to avoid the issue. That's what DbD does. It's wrong.

I remember for sure that Clash was not disabled on the first occurances of the glitch. That said, BHVR is largely known for applying the so called band-aids, instead of true fixes. Hence why they didn't even stop for a moment to consider that having the event play out during the mess they made on frames and other things was going to be idiotic. Still, here we are. I am not entirely sure about Rainbow, anyway. It's enjoyable, most of the time, but many of the modifications they made were because they cater towards the "Pro" league. The recent Zofia withstand bs, for instance. And Ash still doesn't have a proper hitbox. But yeah, overall they manage things more aptly than what we have seen on this game, this far. Wonder if it is ever going to change.

Maybe because I don't play red ranks or maybe because I'm on console, I don't get very many 'bad behaving' survivors. I do get cranky with killers when I get killed off quickly but I can often see that it's my own fault...

I think NOT having the message window is helpful. People seem compelled to say something and maybe it's better not to have the option. The only real feedback I've gotten once on PC was someone saying like 'choke me daddy' stuff (surely as a joke?), after a match where I was playing Meyers.

There was a time when we would get messages through the playstation messaging system but that's very rare these days and it's usually just something funny rather than salt.

Maybe you all just need to play worse.

Keeping in mind that Red ranks are nothing more than playtime (you could get to red ranks and be unable to survive the first 30 seconds of the match, especially if you only got there because of SWF), you should try and keep yourself as far from those ranks as possible. When you get there, the game turns into a sweatfest, with killers and survivors who have DbD as the only important thing of their lives. Not an enjoayble experience, trust me. It turns from a game to a chore.

It's their job, and until they fix it, they need to be held accountable for it.

As for players, they operate within the allowed parameters of the game. If the game allows something you happen, you HAVE to assume people will do it. If you don't want them doing something, you have to remove it from the parameters of the game. You can't just make a game that is easily abused and expect people will not abuse it. That's just not how that works. In a perfect world, games could be filled with all kinds of exploits and never have an issue, but this is not a perfect world. Games need to be designed with strict rulesets that govern the gameplay in order to minimize problems. DbD is lacking in that kind of design, and whether or not the devs can do it, it's their job to fix it if they see it as a problem. Otherwise, they are essentially endorsing the bad gameplay.

Never said I don't share that vision, I just said that anyone exploiting that stuff is not skilled nor exempt from being at the core of the issue. But let me ask you something: have you ever played Rainbow Six Siege? If you did, according to when you did, you might know that Montagne, an operator with an extendable bulletproof shield, had game breaking glitches. Essentially, when the shield was extended, you could move, but not shoot, nor run or look above. People managed to find and exploit glitches that made it so he could have his shield extended AND shoot, meaning you didn't have escape from him, you could only try to find a way around him. And Ubisoft, the developers, DIDN'T disable him until they had an hotfix ready. They just kept him the way it was, ruining millions of ranked matches. Then something similar happened with another operator, Clash. Three times. Only on her THIRD time, they finally understood that she had to be disabled until the fix was implemented. How do you expect BHVR to do something like this, when even in a game based on RANKED matches, it didn't happen before a lot of time?

  • @StibbityStabbity said:

Guess it's finally time to just ban anyone that plays Killer. GG Survivors, you win.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNjWpZmxDgg

Or, you know, stop blaming players for problematic game design and start demanding the devs fix their core gameplay loop. Can't do that, though, it just wouldn't be the same.

Anyone abusing something easy and problematic is just as much of an issue as the issue itself, along with the developers. But how does one put trust into the fact that the devs will fix faulty mechanics, such as horrible pallets distribution on many maps, SWF, camping and tunneling, spammable powers, when we know for a fact that almost all of them DO NOT play the game they created, let alone at ranks where people actually know what they are doing?

  • I'm assuming it has to do with the fact that survivors get WAY less cakes than killers do.

I don't mind playing it every now and then but man it gets boring real quick having it this often

Don't know what's up with it. What I do know, however, is that I HATE that map with a passion, along with the two Yamaoka's maps.

I just gotta ask: if the game is unplayable on console, why do you keep trying to play it? I've had one game that didn't work on my PC, through no fault of my PC. I just uninstalled it and called it a day.

Because games are not distributed for free. Outriders sucked for most of its existance, and still does (though they seem to be working on it), but it still costed me 70 bucks. Advicing someone to simply "uninstall and call it a day" is just the stupidest thing you could have said, without strictly meaning it as an offense. You have paid for something that doens't work as it should, you're just gonna keep quiet about it? Would you just "call it a day" if you spent 1 million for a Lamborghini, only to have it perform worse than a scooter?

Don't worry, I ran into plenty of try hard survivors to make up for the both of us, unfortunately for me.

Had no doubt about that, I just haven't met any, yet.

  • I am seeing so many "brilliant" people unhook in the face of the killer, since the event started. Wish there was an option, as the hooked survivor, to kick those doing it and down them instantly. Those people don't deserve anything else. And, most of the time, these geniuses don't even have BT and just crouchwalk through the entire map, for the whole match. Bots would be better, even if they were to be AFK.

  • To me, camping is staying near the hooked guy, to ensure he dies. Or going back and forth to a hex totem that was found. And, in a certain way, also going back and forth in a 3 gen scenario, dropping chases, making the match last ages more than it should. Tunneling, instead, is either going after the freshly unhooked guy, to hook him again, or chasing the same guy, FOREVER, until you down him because of Bloodlust alone (or missing pallets). Pretty much, both of those things fall into a "playstyle" that even the deaf and blind grandmother of my grandmother would be able to use.

  • Killers are not here TO make sure you have fun. Grammar aside, that is pretty clear. This event managed to bring out the biggest trash that plays this game. The amount of tunneling and camping has increased abnormally since the start of the event, and it is a sweatfest. Feels like every single killer doesn't have anything going in his life other than feeling realised because he managed to win a game on DbD, which is probably true. Yet I still haven't seen a single key, not many flashlights, not many people teabagging or bringing abused cheap perks, on the survivor side. Killers? It's all tunnel, camp, NoeD, Spirit and sweat. This community is gross.

Your proposal would absolutely kill killers.

    • hook timer was tested before and abused by survivors
    • bloodlust is a bandaid to the difference in hitbox sizes. If killers could take a loop as close as survivors, then sure, take bloodlust away. But it has to stay until then. Or you will see even less hooks during a match.

Yeah, I keep hearing the same thing for hook timers, as an excuse to do nothing about it. There are workarounds for everything, you just need to be WILLING to go for them. Bloodlust was there to counter infinites, which are not really a thing anymore. Doesn't really make sense to still have it the way it is now.

  • @Tsulan said:

So right now, the forum threads about killers camping&tunneling during the event stack up. While at the same time, we also get threads about killers getting gen rushed.

Both problems are symptoms of the same problem: the current game speed. Killers camp&tunnel because they feel frustrated, since they often lose 2 or 3 gens in the first chase and survivors gen rush, because killers camp&tunnel.

We need a solution that goes for the root problem: survivors only having 1 real objective. Totems as a side objective are mostly ignored, unless they are lit. Then they work as a survivor magnet, that will come from the other end of the map to get rid of it.

My proposal would be that some gens require gasoline (including new item for the survivors: the gas can) while other gens require parts that can be found or brought in with toolboxes.

Now in regard of the camping: Since we already have skill checks for the second stage, i would love to see something similar for the first stage. Additionally to the attempt escape by pressing m1, survivors should also be able to start a increasingly difficult skill check by hitting space. If passed, the survivor gets rewarded with an increasing amount of bloodpoints for the survival category. (We all know how hard those are to get). On top of that, survivors get the option to prevent getting unhooked by holding E.

So you are proposing a change ONLY to gens, but not to camping and tunneling. Both sides are considered, but only one is offered something to eat. There will always be those who camp and tunnel, because they don't know how to play, otherwise. And there will always be those who farm you on hook, only care about gens and not teammates or anything else. Giving an OPTION doesn't fix it. You have to deter it. You have to make it so a survivor on hook doesn't lose progress if the killer is camping him. You have to make it so the killer can never get Bloodlust (or only tier 1 bloodlust), and lose it on a missed hit, not just on stuns and lost chases. That's how you solve the killer issue. And regarding survivors and gens, while I do think that stuff could be used and MAYBE work, you aren't the first to propose it. And if the devs ignored it ever since, I can't really see how they are going to do something about it right now.

  • I'd say that Freddy and Nurse would be my go to, for this reason. But I don't play Nurse at all, so... That said, I like Freddy's claws on the wall (and when he finds survivors in lockers), feels like he's toying with them.

  • @FattiePoobum said:

Doesn’t matter what offering you put up

you can’t polish a turd by using a bonus offering, it doesn’t work.

HA! Don't tell me that. I got hooked twice while I was afk just yesterday, to a match that shouldn't even have been a thing as I had hit UNREADY before moving to another room. Got back and I was on second hook, to a guy who then proceeded to tunnel me again. The average dips**ts of this game's community, what can you do about them?

Hmmm... Kinda baffled that this is what the surprise is all about. This event really is nothing new than just recylced assets from last year, is it? Not that any event had ever been anything special, but still... At least there was something different during Summer BBQ, for instance. Or Hallowed Blight, for that matter.

Decided to wait out the queue times on Xbox which weren’t as long as I was expecting. Thought I’d have a slightly better experience against people in the same boat as me lag wise.

Boy was I wrong. Back to back rank 1 try hard killers when all the survivors are green or purple. It was also somehow a more laggy experience…

Turning off crossplay might be better for killer, but as a survivor I’ve had an absolute nightmare (and there wasn’t even a Freddy in sight).

I now give up with the event from the survivor side, it’s not worth the torture for a console player & I’m going back on crossplay.

Honestly, I've done that a long time ago. Surprisingly, with the advent of crossplay, disabling it resulted in faster queue times than before crossplay was a thing. Sure, enabling it should be bound to make them even faster. But I'd rather be matched against people who suffer my same inconsistencies and issues than against someone with better performances. And finding matches as killer, on PS4, is pretty fast even without crossplay. As a survivor, it takes somewhat longer, but is still bearable.

  • Hmmm... Does that work for all survivors, independently of who brought the anniversary cake offering? Because, I can't remember for sure, but I am quite certain that happened even when I put an escape cake offering, because I didn't have any anniversary ones.

  • Spirit is there because, sadly, every game will (at some point) incorporate an easy pick. And that is exactly what the Spirit is, an easy, effortless pick that all those who want an easy game will go for. Her only "counterplay" is walking, right, or backtracking onto your own scratchmarks, but those are things that will only ever work if you are not injured OR if you have Iron Will and the Spirit doesn't have Stridor, which is a chance so abysmally small that it isn't even worth mentioning. Be warned, you will find people defending her and going for the typical catchphrase "sure, why would survivors use a meta perk as Iron Will". Or they will tell you that she isn't easy, because they are trying to convince themselves of it more than what they want to convice you... She's such a stupid killer

It was something like 4 or 5 times in a row, to have some stability and back to 4 or 5 drops again. Unbearable. PS4 Slim.

  • What about Elise, though? I mean, I don't see ANY champion from LoL ever making his way towards DbD (and even if they did, they would have to do it with lots of stuttering, as per the current frame drops), but we actually miss a shapeshifting killer.

Nemesis is a bad killer, if you think otherwise you are a main survivor and / or you haven't played with Nemesis.

He needs buffs, and fixing a bug that is going to cause him to have fewer chances to hit survivors, they are nerfing him.

He is nowhere near being bad. Hitboxes make it so he gets hits he should miss and miss hits he should get, but other than that, he can wreck. Given how many stupid survivors there are, who use the vaccine on their first tentacle hit, most of the time without even getting injured, he can just hit you when you are stuck in vault or pallet drop. Huntress can do it from farther away, sure, but you don't compare one killer to another to state how good he is. And honestly, every single killer in the game can be good, it just depends on whether you face a sweaty no life SWF death squad or not. I mean, I got a 4k the other day, with Clown (who doesn't have a power, atm, since his slowing bottles do not slow). With the current amount of tunneling, which is at an all time high, you're hardly escaping a Nemesis chase.

She isn't as easy on console as she is on PC. Let me elaborate this further: better performance and hotkeys make it so you can instantly teleport to one of her traps AND hit, on PC. On console, you can't do that, and you are lucky if you manage to get a hit by a teleport. Plus, the awful frame drops that we have now make playing the game, on whichever role, a very unenjoyable experience.

Why are you guys so toxic? Stop this teebag and leave the gate if you leave no one behind. Its just annoying to play against toxic survivors in every game.

I get that often, when I play killer (if they manage to escape, which only happens when they are a full SWF sweat squad). And I do that myself, IF the killer tunneled/camped. Or if it was a Spirit. As others have already said, both sides are toxic, EQUALLY. In a 1v1 interaction, both the killer and the survivor can be extremely toxic people that should not be allowed access to the internet, it doesn't make survivors more toxic just because you see more than 1 teabag you at the exit gate.

  • @Official_hilbert said:

So these last few months of playing I’ve noticed that pressuring generators has become less and less of a viable option in public matches. It seems as though survivors have a lot of tools and perks at their disposal to get generators done quickly while killers are left with very little.

My points I’ll bring up are that survivors not only have toolboxes with varying add ins to boost gen speed, but also have perks such as prove thyself, resilience, and spine chill to name a few that help in completing gens quickly.

This poses a lot of issues For killers that aren’t generally good at map traversal, and perks only help for a short duration. Ruin only lasts as long as the hex is active and most of the time they get cleansed rather quickly gaining no traction. Corrupt also only lasts two minutes which can help but can also prove ineffective against high rank survivors. Other options killers have are pop and eruption but it seems as though survivors get new perks to counter this such as repressed alliance and now blast mine.

My main argument I’m trying to say is that the current meta is gens popping incredibly quickly and a lot killers not having a lot to counter this. Killers like trickster, trapper and Myers suffer in this regard since they are just unable to pressure effectively with their abilities.

I want to know what people think and hear some counter arguments to my discussion.

Yes and no. Gen rushing is only actually a thing when you are facing a 3-4 men swf. Anything lower than that, it's just a normal match.

Its actually kind of embarrassing. It feels like the game is held together by ducktape, and its getting worse and worse with each update.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2306351#Comment_2306351

Well yeah. When you make a post full of generalizations like claiming killers run only meta perks and survivors don't, you can't exactly expect to get an intelligent conversation started.

What was your post about if it wasn't wanting killers to take it easy on you? You decide a playstyle is "cheap" and expect players to stop doing something that's effective because it will benefit you. It's the same as a killer saying survivors shouldn't bodyblock or use Dead Hard or whatever perk is popular at the time. Players use the tools available to them. If you have a problem with those tools, don't blame the players that use them, blame BHVR for leaving those tools in. You can't expect your opponent to change their behavior to suit your needs and you'll find it very hard to have an intelligent conversation as long as you maintain this sense of entitlement you have.

I never said survivors don't, I said that not ALL survivors run only meta perks. Like me, for instance. But I can understand that only highliting the parts that would suit your "point" is a "strategy", when you have nothing relevant to add. Not to mention that Dead Hard works one time and 99 not, but hey, let's just talk for the sake of it. We're done here.

  • @BuddhaBing said:

Are you joking? Basically every survivor DOES run the same perks. That's to be expected. Meta is meta for a reason.

You seem to have a pretty crippling victim complex. Can you explain to me why the killer is responsible for your points? Should they add a charm into the game that you can wear to let the killer know to go easy on you?

Had to be expected, after all you can almost never have an intelligent conversation in this community, especially with killer mains.

  • @BuddhaBing said:

The killer's objective is to kill the survivors. Tunneling tends to be an effective way to do it.

When you're playing survivor, do you walk around the map tapping each generator one by one until they're all finished? What handicaps are you intentionally giving yourself to make things easier on the killer?

Aside from not having every survivor use the same perks every single game, like most killers do with Ruin? Well, not much. But killers tend to forget one tiny, little detail, when they use this as an excuse: even if you get "gen rushed", you're still able to score points in every single category. As a survivor, you can just run. And get points for just the chase category. That's it. All you get to do is run and hope you can waste enough of the killer's time, knowing that even the worst killer in the world will eventually catch you, not because of any skill, but because of spammable powers and Bloodlust. Same goes for camping. When I play survivor, I don't expect to survive each and every single game, as opposed to killers who exact 4 kills for every match they play. But, you know, I'd like to also be able to score points and not have my rank being affected by rng (which usually means that you get camped and tunneled if you are the first to be found). This is a general point, it doesn't mean that I can't. It just means that you can have your whole match ruined by someone who resorts to cheap "playstyles", but that can't happen as a killer. Unless you have no clue about what you are doing, that is.

Yeah, I could see Mia in here. And I'd like to have her. I'd also like Ethan, of course, as RE8 was a fcking amazing game, but Capcom seems to be fixated on not showing his face (even though there are models to show it, on the net).

    Honest opinion

Not exactly. First and foremost, a strategy is something that requires thinking, planning. And there is not much to think about when all you do is "Me see survivor, me tunnel him". As much as almost the same can be said about working on gens, you do at least have to be aware of when to go looking for Ruin (because it's always there), and mosti importantly careful about not 3-genning yourself, because you can bet all of your belongings that if you go into a 3 gen situation, the killer is going to go back and forth until you turn 100 years old, twice.

Moreover, as was mentioned many times (but killers seem to willingfully forget that aspect), the so called gen rush doesn't prevent the killer from doing anything. You can find survivors, hit them, hook them, damage gens and break pallets. Which means that you are still getting points for all 4 of the categories. As a survivor, you run and drop pallets, hoping to waste as much time as possible, because the game is made it so killers will catch you, sooner or later. If youa re much better than the killer, it doesn't matter, because he can abuse Bloodlust and spam his power. So nah, not the same thing. Unless you consider a pizza and a cake to be the same, too.

I don't have a recent memory of a killer doing that and winning hard tbh. If you hit BL2 in all chases gens are gonna go flying.

To an extent. Guess that depends on who you find. Survivors I find on PS4 seem not to be able to do anything right.

Because I've seen so many content creators promoting DC'ing against killers like Spirit & Twins, I'm open to have my mind changed.

Convince me in the least "Killer/Survivor Players are Dumb" way possible plz

I for one believe one person should not have the right to ruin 4 other peoples enjoyment of the game.

You should tell that to the killers who chase you forever and until you go down because of Bloodlust, not skill.

  • Spirit. Easiest killer in the game.

Hope not, they already made it much easier. If they make it any easier they might as well give give the cosmetics each day you log in. I want cosmetics to feel something special. We already get an amazing deal as long as you play and the rift Is now so easy to compete compared to before

I never said to make it EASIER, I said they should at least be extending the duration. Two totally unrelated things.

They gave us 300k bloodpoints when the new map got disabled and they're giving us a lot of shards when the anniversary event starts so I'm doubting we'll get anymore compensation although I would love it if they did. 300k is nothing to me with how bad the grind is in this game. As for the rift being extended, they risk people getting bored if they extend it. The grind was significantly lowered so I got to tier 70 after I finished level 2 of the tome I think. Should they extend it? Probably, because the bugs are pretty bad on console right now. But people also want more to do so it's difficult to please everyone I guess.

A new Twins skins has already been leaked. It should be coming somewhere around July.

  • You think it will take them THAT long to fix the frame drops? I hope not...

He's weak, but nowhere near the worst killer. That still goes to clown and legion. I've played him a lot since his release and think he could use some buffs but I'm not sure what they'd be besides letting you hold Main event and be able to stop throwing blades in main event. But even then he needs more. But he can still down even the most experienced survivors on any loop, it's just going to take you ages

I don't really see how someone can consider Clown as being weak, or even weaker than Trickster. Weaker than the no skill requirement Spirit? Totally. But when you have the ability to spam (and no killer should ever be able to spam) bottles that slow down movement and impair the vision... Well, that isn't weak. If you are out in the open, he will catch you. If you pre-drop pallets, you'll run out fast.

    You right, fixed it thanks.

Well, I hope they extend it for you and everyone else. If not at least you saved some money rather than use it on a faulty product.

Yeah, trust me dude, I sadly know about wasting money on a faulty product. Sadly, I bought Outriders 😅

By old gen, what do you mean? I’m on console right now and had no problems reaching tier 70. No, I don’t expect everyone to be as far along as I am (literally reached 70 yesterday), but there is still more than a month left for the rift. Sorry that Im not feeling the sympathy, but unplayable is a huge exaggeration.

"Over a month", when the rift page literally says 21 days. Which is less than a month. Old gen means PS4 and XOne. It IS unplayable. You miss so much stuff because of the frame drops, and Dead Hard works even less than before. Which was already baffling.

I don’t see why they need to. I already reached tier 70 and the last part doesn’t drop until tomorrow, mainly because they dropped each rift fragment from 800xp to 500xp. It’s so easy to complete it now all you need to do is play. How much help do you really need?

Guess you haven't tried playing on console, especially old gen ones, have you? If you didn't, I reckon your (I hope) unaware reply has some sense. If you did, though, that's just nonsense. As @Ruma said, just because you reached it, it doesn't mean that everyone else did, especially with how barely playable the game is right now. Plus, not everyone has the time to be playing DbD all day long, or videogames in general.
