Yup, an imaginary line near the second set of brick pillars. If you drop them off your shoulder on the other side of that imaginary line, it's a free escape. If you drop they right on it (hard to do), when they hit their feet, it's an instant trap pop. Survivor can't avoid it going off.
-
I remember a year or more ago, survivor lobbies on console took about 2-5 minutes. On PC it was under 30 seconds. Killer queue's on any platform was 5-15 minutes.
-
I tried for hours the first day with no luck. Played about 2 hours the next day before I got the first one and got the second one less than an hour later. Bringing a key just seemed to get me tunneled. I used Plunderer's to find a key. I typically found a key every 3-4 matches. I tried the Left Behind perk, but either I was always never the last alive, or the second guy would sandbag me on purpose. There were very few escapes that day. It was a rough day to be a solo queue survivor.
Second day was a bit better. I think one escape was after all gens were done and the second was a found hatch with Left Behind escape.
Either way, it was way more trouble than it was worth.I would have wasted two dozen keys had I brought them in every match trying to get this.
I am so glad it is done.

... This is literally the easiest challenge in the tome... It should just say "Abuse Free Win Mechanic Twice"... I got it done in 2 games. Do you really not know where the hatch spawns on most maps?
For you maybe. It certainly was not for me. I have a decent idea where hatches spawn, but there are lots of spawn locations. All the other survivor challenges in the Level 3 Tome combined probably took about the same amount of time for me to finish as that one 2 key hatch challenge.

The key is to use the small bump on the ramp. @CotJocky
I'll try and keep that in mind next killer match. ;-)

Also, to your "oh so witty" response. Lack of proof is not disproof. Its apparent you dont understand the scientific community or process at all.
You have no evidence to support your anecdotal theory, I did. You said "nuh uh", so I asked for your proof. To which you had none, except a snippy response.
So chew on these pics for a bit. They literally state what I did, and had a mod confirm a few posts later.
Heres the link, inb4: it didnt happen/ nice edit.

Nice try though hon, you really put forth the effort to do whatever you could to prove your argument yet do no work to ACTUALLY prove it.

I guess it was due to you quoting me from a different thread that it brought me here? Either way, now that Killer lobbies are so much faster (very fast after 4pm my time) I play killer more. Been working on finishing out some of the achievements. I can say that my dailies are still killer sided, but I do get more survivor dailies it seems. I've not paid attention enough to give an accurate ratio, but I can state that playing killer more has brought me more survivor dailies than I was getting in the past.
Maybe that can help the debate?
-
I'm familiar, but sometimes struggle to make it over. I guess I don't always do it right or just need more practice.
-
I would think the save would only deal with your progress. If you owned "hag" on Xbox and had her P3 with all perks, you would still have access to use that on whatever platform you own the DLC on, but still not have access to it on the platform where you don't own it. If you did buy it for the platform you don't own it on, then you would automatically have access to that P3 all perks progress you had on her.
That's how I would imagine it would work. This is cross progression saving, not buy DLC in one spot and use it everywhere progression.
I can explain it to you this way. I have my Xbox set as my home Xbox. My friend wanted to unlock BBQ, but not spend the $5 on Leatherface (he's super cheap). He was tired of waiting for it to show up in the Shrine. He logged in to his account on my Xbox which game him access to LF. He spent his BP on LF and unlocked BBQ. He went back to his console and even though he had no access to LF, BBQ was a teachable on his account and he was able to purchase it in the blood web of his other killers.
That tells me the progress can be tracked and still deny you access to DLC you have not purchased.
I honestly believe that is how it will work unless they become overly generous. Being some DLC is not original content, it would be expensive to not do it that way.

The DC penalties system has changed nothing. I played 4 game in a row and the first survivor that went down suicided on hook.
So what is changed? Nothing. Killer get less points. Survivors get a difficult game.
Pretty good job so far DEVS.
Anyone who has played this game for awhile knew this would change nothing. If people don't want to play the game, they are not going to. This isn't the dev's fault. The dev's didn't make people crybabies. Some people have agenda's and getting hooked first screws that agenda (Deliverance Achievement). Some people are deranking for quicker lobbies or to troll lesser players. Some people are just crybabies and felt it was their team mates fault they got caught or simply had that same killer 5 times in a row or that map 5 times in a row and don't want to be in that game. Regardless the reason, those people will find the quickest way out. The dev's can't control or punish that.
I definitely don't agree with a "forced struggle" unless it is to eliminate button mashing. I should still have the option to not struggle and die.
Not only that, I wish they would add to it! I wish there was a "bleed out" button. If I was left slugged or a sweaty killer was slugging for the 4K, I could just chose to "bleed out" and die. No waiting to bleed out. Laying on the ground in the game is super boring.
If you can't legitimately kill 4 people without having to use crap tactics, you need to up your game. I die all the time as a survivor. I don't get in a twist about it.
I will agree gen speed is super fast. But there is the unbalanced nature of SWF vs Solo and that can never be fixed unless they force lobbies into comms. Until that is done, the game can't be properly balanced. The efficiency of average experienced survivors is drastically different when they are on comms and not on comms. Only highly experienced survivors seem to have the ability to predict other survivors and almost seem like they are in comms when the really aren't. IF all 4 survivors are highly experienced. That's why you get that "they must be in a SWF" feeling, and in reality, only two were or none were. They were just that good. Zero weak link teams, especially on certain maps are almost impossible to win against.
TL;DR
@OP This was obvious. This is how it is, get over it. It can't be punished.
Forced struggle is a bad idea. You can't make people play that want to leave.
They should add a "bleed out" button so you don't have to stay slugged.
The game is unbalanced due to SWF vs Solo and the game can't be balanced until Solo is forced into comms (or at least the option to join them or mute them)
-
I play both sides.
I agree there is no rule book. You are 100% free to play this game as you like.
But there is fun and boring game play.
Tunneling/camping a survivor out of a game quickly so you can have 4-5 gens left with just 3 survivors left doesn't feel like much of a win to me. Camping and tunneling is boring for me. I personally don't give a crap about "winning".I don't need to "4K" to have fun any more than I have to "escape" to be happy playing survivor. I just need to have fun and earn BP. I attempt to allow other's to gain BP even if I dominate them. If I get shite on as a killer, I simply was the lesser player and I move on. Maybe it was the map, the SWF, or anything else you care to use to blame it one. Doesn't matter. I lost, let's move on to the next one.
My gripe is super sweaty "must win" killers that do crap tactics and disrespectful survivors who's obvious goal is to try and troll you. If you are good killer, kill them all. If you are a good survivor, do your gens and GTFO. Just don't be a douche when you dominate. And no salty comments unless they are deserved.
If I tunneled, or camped you, you are welcome to shite talk me. If I sandbagged a fellow survivor, you can shite talk me. If I was a disrespectful survivor, you can shite talk me. These people who dominate and then proceed with a tirade of what "trash" you were, those people need to learn some manners. Most likely in their real world life as well. A game is just that, a game. Games to me are for fun. Sour people and their abhorrent comments are what tilts me.
-
Only way I could imagine it could work is if you could tie all your accounts together and then BHVR refund you back in blood points. I have some of the same survivors and killers leveled up on multiple accounts. How would you combine a character that is P3 with all perks on 2, 3, 4, 5 different accounts? I imagined you'd feel robbed if you got no credit for that wouldn't you?
They'd definitely have to remove the BP cap. The amount of BP I'd be awarded back (and many others) would be astronomical.
I could 100% P3 all survivors and killers with all perks if I could combine all my accounts, and still have BP left over. I have thousands of hours in this game across 3 platforms and 5 accounts.
-
I've played this game on Xbox, PS4 and PC since late 2017. Long as you paid attention to the killer's ping in the lobby and didn't join a bad or bouncy ping game, everything was fine tuned well. Hits almost always felt right. You had the occasional ping spike, but it was not often. You sometimes got some lag switchers (very rare) or someone who's ping would go to crap after the game started, but it was by far the minority.
Due to milliseconds mattering, P2P will feel better than Dedicated Servers ever will. DS just allows them to punish DC's, possibly implement crossplay, get better data and probably other stuff I'm unaware of.
I feel the best days of hits feeling right are a thing of the past as long as we have dedicated servers. Hopefully I'm wrong.
-
You got dedicated. It's been happening since the introduction of the dedicated servers. It's improved "somewhat" over the course of 6 months. I don't expect it to get back to p2p standards anytime soon and most likely never. We wanted servers... Well, we got em'!
-
Open two hatches with a key. Took several hours to finally get it. Got none forever and then got both within an hour. I used Plunderer's and found a key that way. Bringing one in is marking yourself for death. Keys are the big "hate" of most killers right now. A lot of killers, if they see you with a key, they will tunnel you down or flat out Mori you. Bringing a key in DBD these days is a-kin to placing a flaming bag of dog shite on the killer's doorstep.
-
When Windows Store crossplay was introduced, we had the option to "opt out". I'm sure you will still have that option if crossplay happens.
I'm sorry to inform you, but there are as many potatoes playing on PC as there are on console. Are there some really good killers? Yes. I've faced some really good killers on console back when I use to play DBD on console. So unless you think you are "top dog" and worried about getting your ego bruised, it really won't be that big of a deal.
Only a small percentage of PC players are playing on really nice machines that do high FPS. On PC, unless you edit game files, 62FPS is the cap. Most people are still using 1080p monitors and sub 60FPS video cards. The competitive edge that PC can give is not owned by most players. And I'm sure of the people that own nice machines, I'm sure some are still potato as the majority of the player base.

Now that DC penalties have been implemented, people are just instanty killing themselves on the hook as a "legal" substitute for DCing.
If you aren't going to play the game, don't queue up.
I've said this since this non-sense idea was cooked up. DC punishments are pointless. People will just suicide on hook which will make a few seconds difference for survivors. It gives the killer the possibility to get all 4 BBQ stacks. That's all it will ever do.
Just think, we've lived through 6+ months of Dedicated Server Beta Hell, with still no end in site, just for this one single "feature".
There will always be people who are ready to move on to the next game before this one is done. They will do whatever they have to so they don't have to play the one they are in any longer. DC, Suicide, whatever. A large percentage of people only care about "their" fun and give no thought or care about the consequences it causes to others.
You will have better outcomes rewarding good behavior than punishing bad behavior. "Reward" people to be higher ranks.
-
It depends on how they would go about it. If it was just from the day it started and forward, I'd just keep playing on PC. I have my primary Steam account with 1.6K hours and a secondary with 1K hours. If they were to allow you to "cash in" the blood points you spent on other accounts and meld it into the account of your choice, I'd have enough points to have all my killers and survivors P3 with all perks. I have at least 3K hours of console (2 Xbox accounts and one PS4 account) I'd like to cash in and bank into my main Steam account. If not, there would be overlap. Example: The same character P3'd on multiple accounts and same characters with equal levels. Melding two mirrored accounts wouldn't do much for you. Imposing one of my Xbox accounts across all accounts would advance it the most on all platforms, but I'd be taking a step back too. I have a few characters that have all perks on both killer and survivor. My old Xbox account has P3 with some perks on most all survivors and killers, but I haven't played it since the Plague so no character from that point has had any points put in them.
This game is almost 4 years old. Many of us have played it on multiple platforms for many, many hours. For it to truly give you back all your time invested, they'd just have to do a rough math on how many blood points were put into those characters on that account and refund it to you in blood points so you didn't lose a lot of hard work.
-
If you played (as killer) like a douchebag and purposely tunneled, camped or made the game generally un-fun, no "ggs" will be said. Same goes if you were a flashlight clicking, annoying survivor or SWF. Wether I win or lose, if you played in a normal/non-douchebag way, I will give you a GG, GGS, GGWP or even other compliments about your game play. I'll call out a "good map pressure" or a "good jukes". I'm not afraid to compliment someone who has skill and out played me. Those that look to "bully" or just try and be a douchebag, I won't waste my breath and if you are annoying enough, you will get negative comments. Just my 2 cents.

I congratulated a friend today for getting the Rank 5 and Rank 1 killer achievement. She messaged me back and told me she was a Rank 9 killer and had no clue how she got it. Now we know! lol...
-
Queue times are probably just as bad on PC. Killer queues in the daytime are 2-5 minutes. Killer is usually instant after 4-5pm. Survivor queues both solo and SWF are 2-10 minutes at all times for me on PC (Southeaster USA).
-
This is the new norm.
As a low rank killer, you constantly go against green, purple and sometimes even 4 man red rank. I see red rank killers constantly going against mixed bag SWF's that "sometimes" have 1 red rank survivor in it. More times than not, they get a silver rank, a green rank and maybe two purple rank survivors.
So with new matchmaking, high rank killers got kind of a buff and low rank killers got a super serious nerf.
Seems like they are trying to make new killers want to be survivor mains?
As a survivor main you'll be less angry/frustrated and spend more money on cosmetics???
-
I never say "GG EZ". I usually say GG. If you played kind of douchy, I may just bounce with out saying anything. If you played like an #########, I'll call you out on it. You wanna say something smart, I'll come right back. But just saying GG EZ to anyone is not something I personally do.It just seems really rude.

As a survivor, I'm sick of seeing ruin most every game, and if there is no ruin and the killer is not really, really good or brand new, there is probably Devour Hope. I can suffer through ruin, but find most people won't and if I don't find the ruin, they might not and no gens will get done. Me being the only one pushing through it is of no benefit to me. Being a gen jockey and then dying because I was only the one doing generators does not make for a fun game or many points. I seach for the totem until it is found so that the game can resume and maybe I can earn some points.
I do play killer and ruin can be a great benefit or downed in 15 seconds. It's definitely "high risk, high reward".
Some of the achievements are going to be harder because of ruin changing. There is not real perk other than corrupt intervention to try and help the initial gameplay down and it is a poor substitute for ruin. I have not gotten "Evil Incarnate" yet and it will be much harder to stalk people to get to tier 3 before they can pop all 5 gens off. It and a few more achievements have just gotten drastically harder because it will be a gen free for all.
So yes, I'm glad ruin is gone, but ruin should not be a crutch that is needed. Ruin was a small secondary objective. The game needs a non perk or non add-on related secondary objective for the survivors other than doing gens. Nothing crazy. Maybe some "parts" stations like the Plague's water fountains. Survivors have to go to one of the "parts stations" and get some parts. You can get enough parts in one stop to do one gen. You have to visit another before you go to another gen. Something like that. Something that adds another objective, but isn't so annoying or luck based like Ruin. Add some kind of point incentive to it for survivors. I agree with a lot of survivor mains. They nerfed ruin without fixing the reason most all killers run ruin. Killer que's are horrible in the early day because you have more solo survivors playing and people are willing to take a chance on having a decent game as killer. Survivor que's are horrible after school lets out because everyone is home from work or school playing in a SWF. No one wants to play killer against that.
I mostly play survivor. Take that for what it's worth.
-
I agree that BHVR should implement mouse and keyboard support for console. I despise playing killer with a controller. I bought a XIM Apex just so I could use mouse and keyboard on console. Guess what, due to wonky mechanics (per XIM), they can't properly craft a file that would work for DBD. So I spent $100 for nothing. I just rarely play console anymore unless a friend requests to and if I do, it's SWF which is rare for me. I mostly play on PC now due to that lack of support on console.
BHVR.... Add mouse and keyboard support!!!

The high majority of the time, these people aren't "DC'ing" and causing this. Something happens with the game and it drops a player. I can't say why the game drops people which causes the game to result in a "match cancelled", but apparently Behaviour couldn't figure it out either or it was too complex to fix. If you were here in the old days, then you remember all the 2-3 man load outs. It almost always sucked when that happened, especially if you care about rank. If they killer didn't try to farm, you would all be dead soon. It was a total waste of the survivors time. Unless you cared about rank, all the survivors just DC'd from it because it was a lost cause unless the killer was super super terrible. Killer and survivors always ended up with depips for something that wasn't their fault.
Survivor queue's use to be 30 seconds or less for me so the "match cancelled" wasn't a big deal, but I still don't want to return to 2-3 man load outs!
-
The Queue's are horrible! I 100% agree. The rift/Tome is just more useless crap to grind for in a game that is already super grindy. What I feel we need is new modes! Something to break up the monotony. We have 74 perks for survivor and 67 (I think) for killer, yet we can still only use 4 of them at a time. I'm not really sure we need more perks, more survivors and more "unique" killers, more than we just need a different game type. It's been the same thing for 3.5 years. Personally, I'd love to see killer in 3rd person. Just about anything other than the same old, start 5 gens, open a door and leave.
-
As I've stated numerous times before, Red Ranks is a punishment, for both sides, not a reward. I've played this game for almost 2 years. I've been Rank 1 survivor and killer. As a "survivor main" that mostly plays solo, you are rewarded with horrible team mates. As a killer, you are rewarded with -5 minute games with a gen rushing SWF. Both result in low blood points and frustration. We need to be REWARDED to be in Red Ranks and it needs to be semi-difficult to get there and stay there. More blood points per match is one thing I can think of as a reward. Like 2x more blood points if you are Red Rank. Maybe 1.5x for Purple Rank. I'm sure they can come up with several things that could be done to reward those players. Until the day comes that the developers understand they need to REWARD people to get to and stay high rank, why would anyone that is not "competitive" want to stay there? Random SWF is usually not much better than solo queue. Dealing with ego's and time schedules is not something I want to have to deal with just to play a game. I'm going to do what I always have. You don't have to "DC" to derank. If it's play a few games, get to red ranks, get disgusted and play Civilization instead OR "play poorly" for several games so I can have fun for several games, that's what I'm going to do. I play this game for "fun", not to sweat my way to the top so I can be the champion of DBD eSports. I don't want to slug, proximity camp or run the most annoying slow down build as killer nor do I want to be the Decisive Strike running, flashlight clicking, gen rushing, bolt to the exit gates douchebag survivor. Getting a 4K or escaping does not = fun. Playing the game as it was initially intended to be played is what is fun to me. I want blood points and don't get caught up in "winning".
-
Well, there are regular dailies to "kill by your hand" AKA: Mori a survivor for 60K blood points. Mori's are not very common in your blood web, so if you burn one, you make sure you get the most of it. So if you are doing it specifically for the daily, you are probably gonna Mori the first one off the hook to make sure you get your daily done. It sucks for the survivor, but it also just makes common sense to do so. I've had several games where I've brought a Ebony Mori and only got to Mori one or two survivors. They DC, suicide on hook or are just a really strong SWF and I can't catch them all before the gens are done. When you burn a Ebony and you only get one, you feel kind of ripped off. The most logical way to get all 4 is to kill one early so that them finishing 3-5 gens is near impossible unless you are really bad as a killer (or out matched). Once the first one is killed quickly, you can take more time and make sure you hook the other 3 so you get a chance to try and Mori all 4 of them.
As someone who plays survivor a lot. Just try and rack up as many points as you can, take your Mori and move on to the next game. Unless you've got a lot of killers that hate you or you are a streamer, Mori's aren't played that often.
OhToFu is the only exception that comes to mind. He Mori's every Blendette he gets a chance to Mori, but most people don't have access to a stash of Mori's that big and have to be much more selective when burning them.

A game should not be balanced around the lowest skill, it should be balanced around the second highest tier of skill.
It's a 3 year old game. People get tired/bored and move on to other games. We need a continuous flow of newer people. If new "survivors" get face camped every game and just rot on the hook for 60 seconds and die, they won't continue to play the game and we won't have anyone to play the game with. Killer lobby queue's are already horribly long. You literally have to wait 10-25 minutes in the low ranks for a lobby as a killer. I wait 5-10 minutes for green and purple rank killer games. I don't want queue times to be even longer nor do I want every team I face to be a well skilled SWF.
I've tried to get several friends into this game. Most all want to play survivor in the beginning and every single one of them end up not wanting to play the game after about 100 hours of solo queue survivor game play. Most get very frustrated at getting face camped and/or tunneled. They all feel like they have zero chance to get away and keep dying over and over. They don't play long enough to understand anything other than the very basics and they are over it. After a short while, they just de-install and go back to a different game. The asymmetrical nature of the game makes it very hard for new solo queue survivors to not feel helpless.
The point being.... If the game is poorly balanced at the bottom, no new players will stick around long enough to become "second highest tier" and therefore you and I will have no one to play the game with but "the best of the best". I'm not that competitive and I don't want to get demolished over and over in what is a "casual" game. If we need anything, we need new "modes".Something to ease the pain for new people who need to learn (most people can't round up 4 more people to play KYF). Who wants to play what is an exact mirror of the regular mode, but with zero blood points or progress for your time spent playing it? New modes for experienced players to do something other than the exact same thing we've been doing for 3 years. At this point, any kind of new mode would be a good thing. Either that or DBD2 needs to be here in the very near future. Maybe a 5, 6, 8 or 10 perk mode. I'm not game maker, but I think something like that should be about as simple as it gets at adding a "new mode". Imagine all the wicked imbalance and possible things that could happen if all survivors and the killer could chose more than 4 perks.I'm sure there are much better ideas, but just about anything would be welcome this far in to the games life. New Killers and cosmetics are nice, but it isn't really adding that much to the game at this point IMO. The only things that I really notice over and over is who long lobby queues are and how bad latency is with these servers.

*On Topic Statement*
I play both sides. I think new BT is the least painful for killer because the killer at least has a chance at hook swapping, especially if he's running "Make Your Choice".
*Off Topic Statement*
@Vetrathene said:
Just keep BT as it is but make it work only once per game.
If that change you mentioned was made, BT would fall way down in the Meta. Face/proximity camping would become more viable than it already is if you are just looking to "4K" without worry of points or pip (especially for noob killers who typically camp anyway). That change would greatly lower BT's value. People would compensate a different way, but I think it would ultimately be bad for newer players. A.) Getting demolished every game doesn't promote most people to want to continue to play long enough to get better. It's typically much rougher to be a noob survivor than a noob killer (if matchmaking does its job, no smurfs in your lobby, etc). BT helps noob players to feel safer about going for hook saves. We all remember the low ranks and how other survivors would just leave you on the hook to die. As they figure out things such as the BT/WGLF combo, they get points greedy, and come get you off the hook if only for their own purpose. Being farmed is better than being left to die while they hide on the edge of the map and hope for hatch.
People get tunnel vision on specific perks and forget SWF is the strongest "perk" in the game. Over half of the player base play mainly in solo queue. The more and more you nerf perks/survivor, the less and less playing solo queue is viable. Killers despise SWF and by nerfing survivor more and more, you are pushing people to only want to play in a SWF. This will lead to a larger percentage of players only playing with select people making SWF teams stronger and stronger and therefore making killer less and less fun. Survivor has had a very large amount of nerfs since the launch of this game. I won't deny that killers get occasional nerfs, but the survivor nerfs are far more frequent and severe in comparison.
Don't screw yourself (as killer) by hoping for survivor nerfs to the point that everyone you face is a well trained 4 man SWF with flashlight skills, looping skills and can hit Ruin skill checks in their sleep.
As with anything in life, the harder you make things, the weak will fall away and the strong will persevere. I'm thankful for the games when I get obvious weak links with poor skills. I don't want to think about the day when I log on as killer and find every team to be precise, deliberate and well skilled. They will just lead you from pallet to pallet and in 5 minutes they will all teabag at the gate and leave with their 13K points. Personally, not my idea of fun.
-
The time before servers!
The time when lobbies (at least for survivor on PC) were usually under 30 seconds!
I miss when you either hit a killer with a pallet or a killer hit you before you threw it. Not both.
I don't want to go back to a time when it really sucked to be a killer, I just want to rewind to the point to where the hits felt fair and I could get into a game quickly.
Decent matchmaking would be nice too!
-
I loved being able to see the ranks and prestige levels. It gives you a "general" idea of what you can expect out of your team mates or to know if the wonderful matchmaking has yet again paired you up with some players numerous ranks below or above your own rank.
If there is one low rank person, I'm not gonna dodge, but if I'm rank 5 and I'm in a non-SWF lobby of rank 17-15, for my sanity and the sake of the killer, I'm dodging. The killer is not gonna have fun chasing me and I'm not going to be happy with my team mates who are new and clueless.
It allows me the ability to do the job that matchmaking obviously can't.
With current super slow lobby times, you get to the point you won't dodge just because you are super tired of waiting to get a game.

too often these days are the killers friendly . its not cool , its not funny , its bad and ruining the game, friendly killers should be banned permanently .
I think you're off your rocker. The game is full of super sweaty try hards (survivor and killer). Farm can be boring yes, do the gens, leave, and move on to the next game. You don't like the sweaty try hard, die on hook and move on to the next game. Let each and everyone find their on way to have fun. They paid their money. If you don't like it, rush it up and move along. God forbid some people play a game a way they find "fun". We all know this is the next eSports game with millions on the line. FFS.....

Exactly. Cross-play between Microsoft Store PC players vs Steam PC Players. No date announced on any other cross-play platforms.

Since dedicated servers anytime I down a survivor they teleport like 5 - 20 ft away in a random direction even through walls lol; so I have to hobble around for like just as much in seconds trying to find them to pick them up.
I thought they were crawling and they gave them a speed boost to crawl when being downed or something at first, until I saw them just phasing through to the other side of walls and such, usually near vault locations.
The reason being you are hitting and downing them at a completely different time sync than they are. On their screen they probably already vaulted and for you they never even started the animation for it.
That is like, some serious delay.
It's so annoying. Spending an extra 10 seconds sometimes just to find the survivor you just downed due to this.

I don’t see how that would cheapen the IP. Leatherface has worn makeup and dressed as a woman in multiple films.
Well, I can't be the judge of what the IP owner will or will not allow. And having a human skin mask that happens to be from a woman (and touching up the makeup horribly) and wearing full drag are two different things. But I'm sure if you own a IP that is supposed to be "horror", you don't want it looking "humorous". Some might not care if the money is right, but we've went this long without a deal, something is holding it up.
And I was somewhat wrong about Bill. I was shocked to know he is getting a Christmas sweater. It's not "knock your socks off" kind of excitement, but I will admit I am glad he is getting on and it is cool. And the sweater is fitting to what his character is so it makes sense. It's not a far stretch from how he is presented from how Valve portrays him. His typical Vietnam War look.

I do well enough that I can power through it most games even if I miss a few, but the majority of the time I find myself being the only one to bother. After several games of feeling like I'm the only one trying to do gens I just give up powering through Ruin. I find it much quicker if I just go look for Ruin because I can find it 95% of the time if it's not Springwood. It's like magic, as soon as I find Ruin, within 3 minutes at least 2-3 gens pop off where nothing happened for 2-3 minutes I was looking for Ruin.
I think a lot of survivors that discover there is Ruin, either go looking for the totem unsuccessfully or they just default into "farm" mode and say screw the gens!
Dead By Solo Queue is a better title.
They have balanced the game into a point that it is miserable to play Solo queue the majority of the time.

For what it's worth... I've got 3K+ hours in DBD and I play survivor 75% of the time.
The simple answer is most killers run BBQ for the points and would still run it even if it didn't show aura's. This game is super ######### grindy and killer is easier to play when you can throw on really good add-ons. I recently watched a streamer spend 1 million blood points and only get 2 of the particular ultra rare add-ons he was hoping to get. Then you can "hope" you can win a game with those add-ons and get 100K BP at best with a double blood point offering on top! Not exactly a bargain.
I'm sick of Ruin, you're sick of Ruin, anyone that has played this game 500+ hours is sick, sick, sick of Ruin. Trust me when I say, killers are sick of running Ruin. Killer would love to not tie up one of 4 perk slots with Ruin. They'd love to try out different perks in its place if gens didn't get done in 3-5 minutes without Ruin. Most every perk killers run have to do with slowing the game down. It's only the highly mobile killers that get to try out different builds and unfortunately, due to gen speed, those "different" builds end up being "slug builds" because they still have to slow the game down. The reality is that only the top 5% of players will just push through Ruin and not worry about finding the totem. Ruin is the only perk that adds a secondary objective to the game. Any survivor that is not following their own agenda (role playing as Scaredette, trying to do Tome challenges, Daily Rituals, following the killer around practicing flashlight saves, etc....) is going to get on a gen (if they are not a noob) and 3 gens will be popped by the time the first survivor is downed (if the person being chased is at best an average looper). If you can't snowball hooking survivors really quickly, then a SWF will destroy you in the beginning. That's when the tunneling, camping and slugging comes in and no one enjoys that crap. It pays out crap blood points when you play that way and everyone, even the killer wants to earn good blood points. Doing 1.5 gens, opening an exit gate and maybe rescuing 1 person off the hook is not a great blood point gain for a survivor. Hooking 2-3 survivors and losing a couple long chases due to trying to eliminate some pallets off the map in a less than 5 minute game is not a great blood point gain for the killer when in the end 3 or all 4 people run out the exit gate.
As people have been saying forever, the game needs a secondary objective to slow down the game. If survivors simply do the objective (do 5 gens, open a exit gate and leave), you safety pip at best and make around 9-14K blood points. It may be the core basics of the game, but it does you zero favors.
Ruin is a gamble. It's "high risk", "high reward", meaning it is placed in obvious spots and survivors are spawned right on top of it some of the time. Some games it will go down in 15 seconds. You gambled and lost as the killer. Some games it will last 1-3 minutes and only a handful of games it will last 75-100% of the game. If the group as a whole couldn't just push through the Ruin like it was nothing, then you were "highly rewarded" for your gamble.
I understand balancing this game off high rank SWF is not a good choice because it will destroy the low rank solo players, but unless you are a top tier killer, you will have a very hard time at higher rank against a decent SWF no matter what killer, perks or add-ons you use.
Gens use to take a longer amount of time to complete. If we don't want to go back to that, we need some kind of viable "secondary objective". Something that is required or at the very least, highly motivates them to complete the secondary objective to either speed up the game or rewards them with extra blood points. Survivors as a whole make pitiful blood points in comparison to the killer and I think most would risk the secondary objective if the payout was worth lowering their chance of survival/escaping.
Until games can be made longer in some meaningful way or unless it is nerfed, there is no viable replacement for Ruin and therefore it will stay meta. The need or greed for blood points will keep BBQ meta. It's really that simple. There are 63 killer perks in total. There are good reasons you see these perks over and over.

If I can finish a gen by myself and I've not heard the killer's heartbeat, seen anyone chased and no one has been hit, my next instinct is to find all the dull totems. The killer is AFK or planning some NOED end build shenanigans. That or it's a TumTums guarding his chest in the basement. It's some kind of meme.

That's the catch about surveys. The most recent PTB, they didn't lay out clear enough rules and the experiment was called off early due to no one completely understanding what to do which will give wildly varied results. That invalidates the information gathered and makes it useless information.
If the questions can be interpreted very differently, then the answers are not really valid in the end.
As the one taking the survey, answer the question the way you think that makes most sense because that's probably your best course of action.
Luckily, several of the questions had a "other" box and you could type a large amount of info into the box which in the end, will probably be more helpful if you can make a good point and stay on topic.

The same reason you got a hospital gown Myers and not a shirtless Myers is the same reason you won't see a "drag" Leatherface. The IP owners's will never allow it. It cheapens their IP. They are for making money, but not by detracting from what is supposed to be a "horror" figure. They want to promote their IP, not make it a laughingstock.
Bill would require a agreement with Valve. It took 2 years to get him on console. I can't imagine how long it will take to strike a cosmetic deal and how underwhelming the end result will be. Were the Myers/Laurie cosmetics really worth the wait or money? Don't expect anything that will "wow" you IF Bill ever gets one.
Behaviour can do whatever the hell they want with their IP. If they want to put the Clown in a elephant suit, they can do it! I can't wait for that one! :-)

We've nerfed the insta-blind bulbs because they weren't fair, we nerfed brand new part (multiple times) because it wasn't fair, we nerfed syringe and styptic because they weren't fair, the survivor blood web is already full of "ultra rare" items that you are sometimes forced to buy for 7K BP when in reality they aren't worth 3K BP. The only pink or purple items still remotely worth the BP they cost is the two keys. Instead of nerfing all these items, they should just flat out remove them. They are as useful as a green map or a green key; absolute garbage. I'd much rather see more flashlights, toolboxes and med kits in my blood web than this current expensive trash. At least those items do still serve a purpose and are useful.
If we are going to remove/nerf the last useful items in the survivor blood web, then I think it is time to remove all Mori's. They are "fun" for killers and they are OP. We just can't have that and it be balanced.
For people that have played this game for a good while, the syringe/styptic saves, the flashlight saves, the multiple survivor hatch escapes, (and killer bullying in general) these are the only entertainment that long time players can find in a game that has had one single solitary "mode" for 3.5 years. The only thing left now is being an annoying prick with a flashlight and trying to bully a killer. We are eventually going to nerf the game until it is vanilla on both sides. How long can you play a game where you start 5 gens, open an exit gate and walk out the door before it gets super boring. How many times can you slug and camp people to secure a 4K over and over until it just becomes super boring. This is what we are trying to boil the game down to. We are slowly sucking all fun out of this game.
I don't disagree this game is "survivor sided" when you are using a "perfect killer" vs a "perfect SWF". Some maps are more survivor sided than others, that's a fact, especially when it comes to killers that are less mobile. But in our quest for balance, the only thing we are doing is nerfing, and removing anything that was "fun".
Maybe the clear answer is that WE NEED DIFFERENT GAME MODES. We can have a more fair "competitive mode" for those that constantly complain about balance and not being able to 4K every game. And we can have other modes for people that don't want to take this game SO ######### SERIOUS, but also don't want to play KYF for zero blood points. I don't think nerfing the current BP payout in in a casual mode is going to fly. Instead, an increased BP payout for the competitive mode would be more viable.
This game will never find balance and the closer we try to get to it, the more boring this game gets. Adding more cosmetics and killer/survivor DLC's just doesn't add much "fun". The only "fun" I've seen added to this game from a DLC in a long time was the Head On perk from Jane. That resulted in lots of new killer bullying, double and triple stuns and in general forehead survivor plays that brought laughter into the game.
If you think back, when you first started playing games, your initial thought wasn't, I'm gonna start doing this so I can dominate other people or be a champion. You started playing games because you thought it would be "fun". Some of us never lost that mentality and just can't acquire the mindset that playing games is super serious competition and fun only comes from "winning".
Tl;dr: Things like trying to nerf/remove items from the game only makes it more and more boring to play, instead, we need separate modes for competition where the game can be balanced towards fairness and fun modes where fun items, add-ons and offerings can be left in place.

Killer queue's are about 5-15 minutes during the day from Rank 20 to around Rank 8 for me (east coast USA). Queue's get much shorter around 10pm EST for killer and seem to get longer for solo survivor. I typically try to play survivor during the day and killer at night even though that is not really convenient for me, but then again, waiting 15 minutes for a killer game isn't convenient either and I'm not a night owl.
As killer gets buffed more and more, people want to play killer more and more. When it's a 1 to 4 ratio, that causes serious wait times. Plus I heard the servers were partially to blame? I dunno, my experiences I'm speaking of are from PC perspective.
-
The player base on Windows DBD is going to be very small. No one likes long queue times. Allowing those players to play with Steam players will improve their experience. Without crossplay, that platform will probably die out. For the viability of the game to have anyone playing it and spending money, crossplay with Steam players is essential. My guess is that playing it through the game pass for free might be more likely to convince those Xbox players with a PC to buy DBD on Steam, but you never know.
And... It could possibly be the first crossplay test, but I doubt it. First real crossplay test will be PS4 with Xbox and then the much bigger challenge of pc with console. Nintendo Switch will be the most painful with it's underpowered hardware. Thank God they have no intention of throwing mobile in the mix!

They took away the ability to sabo the hooks in the Summer BBQ event. I thought it was an excellent idea and I play more survivor than killer. To go back to making them sabo-able was a bad idea IMO, but maybe it was related to the delay issues? Maybe that was something they didn't have time to worry about being the event almost missed the holiday it was intended for?
I hope the next event that has 'event hooks", they will once again make them un-sabo-able.
But I will also say that if only 1 offering is played, the game tends to spawn the event gens close together so a killer can protect them from being done if he wanted to be an ass, but now with this event, if 5 gens are completed, it counts that all event gens have been done even if those were note the ones touched so you still get your event gen points. In the past, that was not the case. In the past, a killer could deny you the event gens and screw you out of your points.
So they kind of buffed the survivors ability to get their event points, but regressed the killers ability to do so. I call foul. Keep the survivor buff for all 5 gens being completed, but reinstate the un-sabo-able hooks for killer. I think that is a pretty decent common ground so that everyone has a fair chance at getting their event points.

I think a lot of people miss the point of DC's and hook suicides. It's kind of like a little league baseball game. If the score is 20-0 in the third inning, are they going to play 6 more innings or just call the game and accept the loss? DC'ing or suiciding on hook is accepting the loss. Unfortunately there was no coach running the survivor team and the rest of the team was not part of that decision.
If you are playing a game and there are 0 gens done and there have been 5 hooks, it's highly unlikely 5 gens will be fired off. The game is a loss.
If you are only concerned with "winning" and your idea of "winning" is firing off 5 gens and escaping, then yes, to continue is a loss. For some, "winning" isn't escaping. For some, "winning" is getting max BP. Maybe in those circumstances getting a lot of BP is not going to happen, but some people want to make the best of a bad situation and get all the BP they can before they die. Especially if a BPS or good points offering was played. If it's a killer that DC's, it's really no harm, no foul because the survivor keeps their stuff and blood points. The killer is the only one that loses. If a killer DC's, just move on to the next game. But when a survivor DC's that is not part of a 4 man SWF, it really screws over his team and it caps the killer on his points.
If it's a Iri head huntress, prayer bead spirit, a "forever Freddy, etc... Some people want to make a statement that these game builds are not acceptable and punishment is to DC or suicide against these builds in protest. I get that, but unfortunately unless it is a 4 man SWF, you can't vote for the other players.
I would hate for the game to be limited to 4 man SWF game play, but that would be a good way to limit DC's and suicides because you have to be at least some what accountable in a SWF.
I think the real answer is just separate modes with real punishment. A casual mode where there are lax punishments for DC's and a competitive mode with stiff punishments. Hopefully crossplay will increase the player base enough that we can have separate modes and the more competitive people can have their games without dealing with DC's.
The game will never be truly balanced and the competitive people will accept that reality and just play it out whatever the outcome. The DC'rs can play in causal and when they feel it's a loss, they can DC, give them a 10 minute time out and everyone moves on with their "casual" game play.
-
I think the idea is backwards. Survivors don't make enough BP as is. I can make so much more playing killer in the same amount of time if it weren't for the dreadful queue times and the reason the killer queue times are dreadful is because people know this and are trying to play killer!
Not everyone plays in a SWF and almost every team/group has one or more "weak links" and therefore 1 or 2 of the survivors work harder than the other 1 or 2. Usually only 1 or 2 of the survivors can "loop" and they have to take the brunt of the killers attention or spend their time getting the ones that can't loop off the hook.
BBQ doesn't just stack points, it gives you information. WGLF only gives you stacks, stacks that are not always easy to obtain. I can agree that sometimes if you have a really stealthy survivor or a really good team, it can be hard to get all 4 stacks of BBQ, but that is not usually the case. As a survivor, unless you stalk the killer or get lucky, it can be very difficult to get all 4 stacks each game without unintentionally throwing the game by wasting time to get those stacks. The stacks happen naturally for the killer. People have to get hooked close to you or you have to abandon gen times to make sure you beat other survivors to the unhook. If the unhook is not safe, you get no stacks. Protections hits that are not under a hook are hard to get. Freddy and stealth killers make it hard to get BT to proc and will easily deny you the "safe unhook".
I personally don't see any need for nerf's to WGLF. If anything, it should do additional things like BBQ does. What that "thing" is, I don't know, but it should do a secondary action like BBQ.
And whether it is a popular opinion or not, I don't think their should be a "terror radius" requirement for BT. It think it should just proc regardless.
I agree the old BT was unfair towards killers when it protected both the unhooked and unhooker, but it also a one time use perk.
BT sucks for a killer at the end game when a person is unhooked near a exit gate, but NOED sucks for survivors. It's tit for tat. Each side has advantages and disadvantages. Killer is now more fair than it has ever been. Survivor has gotten many needed nerfs. I just think you are barking up the wrong tree about this one particular thing. Anything that reduces survivor points is a bad idea IMO.

DC's are a serious problem for sure. I wouldn't be griping about a depip though! LUL
