  • I don't have video proof, but it happened to me a few days ago playing clown. Exact same spot, same stair set.

I don't think survivor get strong perks because they have to be balance around the idea of 4 people using it. As you mention they don't want to deal with another MOM situation or DS

I get that, but from a sales standpoint.... If you are a "survivor main" that has no intention of playing killer, the survivor perks are the main reason you buy new DLC. Unless you really like the new characters looks or sounds, they play no different than the other two dozen characters you already own. I think people forget there have been some decent perks come out lately. Soul Guard (Cheryl), For The People (Zarina), Head On (Jane), Inner Strength (Nancy). Being the survivor player base is 4/5 of the player base, the survivor perks can't keep being trash or you will stifle your sales and the want for veteran players to keep playing. There is balance to every aspect of keeping a "old" game relevant.

  • It's really simple. Survivors that are decent at the game do the objective which is to do gens and escape. Without map pressure, the gens get repaired really fast. Slugging is a common killer tactic to slow down the game. Tunneling 1 survivor out of the game really quickly to get down to a 3 man team is a common tactic. DS and Unbreakable are to fight against those tactics.

To me personally, I find slugging boring AF. No one wants to lay on the ground half the game. It's sweaty and it's stressful. I play games for fun and "winning" isn't my be all end all goal. If I wanted to be MLG, I'd go play that type game. This game isn't and will never be that type of game no matter how many people try to stroke their ego that it is. Hate to break it to you, RNG has a lot to do with your "winning" and no amount of "getting gud" will change that.

  • How about being respectful to all players unless they are disrespectful to you? I think that's a good rule to live by against all skill levels.

Unless they obviously played like an ass or said nasty things to me, I'm gonna give a positive comment, a simple gg or say nothing at all.

If they obviously played like a douchebag or said nasty things to you without provocation, all bets are off. Say whatever you like keeping in mind you can be reported for what you said. I have no problem telling someone to go F themselves. If you aren't an "adult", you shouldn't legally be playing this mature rated game.

I'm definitely not for being rude to new players. But I think we need to not be rude to any of the players unless it was well earned. It's unfortunate that we have those people in the community, but it is what it is.

  • Trash team mates, hello Entity, hello next game. If I'm being camped and my team is actively on gens, I'll tap it out for their benefit. If they are all just standing there waiting for an opportunity to hook save with me being 100% camped, I'm not gonna wear out my spacebar for that.

  • Eliminate tunneling, slugging and proximity camping and you can do whatever you want to D Strike.

People run these perks because sweaty killers slug, proximity camp and tunnel to slow the gen progress down. Players run D Strike, unbreakable and soul guard to counter this very, very common killer play style. The game is about time management. These are the things that best suit each side to gain the upper hand on time. If the survivors get 3 gens done before the first hook, unless they screw up, they will highly likely all escape (excellent killer vs 4 excellent survivors). If a killer can get 2-3 hooks in before a generator gets done (early find, early down and hook), unless the killer screws up, he will most likely get 3-4 kills. No perks will change those two scenarios drastically the majority of the time if everyone plays well.

What changes this game more than anything is RNG and the mistakes made in part due to that RNG. That and no communication solo queue vs comms 4 man SWF. Survivor sided maps, very generous crate/pallet spawns vs killer sided maps with a ton of 4 walls, large rocks and dead zones with minimal pallets.

How much does D Strike matter on Ormond or Blood Lodge with a low mobility killer? You are likely to lose those games anyway. Azarov's Resting Place with poor pallet/tile spawns and playing a mobile killer (Freddy, Demo, Billy, etc...) unless you screw up, RNG just handed you the game.

This game is way to situational to focus on one thing. Pop goes the weasel is very hardcore with the right killer in the right situation to the point a lot of people feel it needs a limit. It is absolutely devastating in certain situations and highly OP. I see tons of people that run D Strike, use it and then still get downed 15 seconds later almost neutralizing any real effect it had on the game.

I've played a lot of times from early in the morning to past midnight, my killer ques are at most 2 minutes while my survivor ques are minimum 10 at a good time. As far as I know most people deal with much longer survivor ques. Some areas/times have it flipped but I believe its mostly longer survivor ques the community is dealing with as I've seen much more complaints about survivor ques than the odd killer que complaint here and there. There's not enough people playing killer, especially at higher ranks, and for a lot of people that's because they don't want to play the more stressful/frustrating and weaker side.

All I can say is I'm southeast USA. About 1K miles from the Virginia server that I imagine I am connecting to. I typically see 40-50ms ping to the server. I have been seeing some 2-5 minute killer waits the last couple days, but it is still in-between near 10 minute waits for killer. I rarely wait more than 60 seconds for a survivor lobby; Solo, 2 man, 3 man or full SWF. I do notice I typically get lobbies quicker as Solo or full 4 man. Seems to take a few seconds more as 2 or 3 man for whatever reason. I don't stay up past midnight much so I can't say what it's like from 12am to 7am.

Today, we have enabled the first phase of our new Matchmaking System for all regions on Xbox One. Read on for more info on our next steps for rolling out the new system!

We have been running smaller tests of the system on select Xbox One regions for the past few weeks, and the results have been encouraging. The rollout on all Xbox One regions is the next step in testing the system on a wider audience. If all goes well, we are planning on rolling out this feature for all platforms in a couple of weeks.

The next phase that you will notice goes live with the upcoming mid-chapter update: We are no longer allowing Killers to switch their character while searching for a match, or once in a lobby (excluding Custom Matches). This will allow the new Matchmaking System to track player skill with each killer individually and match them against more appropriately skilled opponents based on their killer selection.

To put it simply: If you are great with The Oni but you struggle with The Nurse, you will now be playing against stronger survivors when you play The Oni than you do with The Nurse.

    What does this mean?

The most obvious thing you will see when the new system is active is that there will be a greater variation of Ranks in a single match. Rank 1s playing Rank 20s? It’s possible, don’t panic when you see this, as Ranks are not a true indicator of a player’s skill and are no longer used for matchmaking.

Additionally, this system comes with a revamped algorithm for matchmaking as a whole. This should improve wait times for finding matches, and we will continue to tweak this part of the system to improve them further over the coming months.

    Why replace Ranks?

Ranks are not a great way of figuring out how good a player is at the game, because it primarily focuses on "How often you play" and not on "How skilled you are when you play". Based on our matchmaking studies, there are a great deal of “low” ranked players (15-20) who can easily play just as well as “high” ranked players (1-5), but they simply don’t play enough games in a month to increase their rank before they reset on the 13th. And as an inverse, there are Rank 1 -5 players who perform at levels more typical of lower ranks but they play so many games that their rank is higher than expected. This results in unpredictable games: All five players may have the exact same rank but wildly different skill levels in practice, making matches unbalanced.

    How are Ratings better?

The new Rating system is focused on measuring a player’s skill and predicting how they will perform against a given opponent. This way we can build matches that are more objectively fair for everyone in the game. We have analyzed over 3 million games (at last count) during our tests, and the matchmaking system is proving to be extremely accurate at predicting the outcomes of matches.

By using this new system, we will be able to place players into more balanced matches more often. When a match is unbalanced, the system will know exactly how unbalanced it is and adjust the player Ratings accordingly.

    Why are there still Ranks?

Matchmaking has been and continues to be one of the hottest topics we hear about, and we have been listening! To get this implemented as quickly as possible, we have decided to roll it out independent of a rework of the Rank system. That doesn’t mean we don’t have plans for Ranks, however! We are exploring different ideas like turning them into a monthly activity tracker and reward system, when we are ready, we'll communicate more about that

    I still have questions!

That’s great! We are planning on doing more posts explaining the system in detail, as well as Q&As with the developers who have been working on it. Keep your eyes on the forums and official Dead by Daylight social media channels to learn more.

That news makes me almost want to play on Xbox! lol... It says hopefully 2 weeks for everyone else. I'm really hoping to see faster queue times and better matched opponents. Not super easy, not being bullied, just actually somewhat equally matched people battling it out. It would be a welcome change! Have to see what the reality of the outcome is though. Gonna keep my hopes low. I've learned not to get my hopes up with this game! lol...

  • Could be a good counter to being camped and your "savior" is near by for the unhook. Deliverance is a very limited perk with a one time use. This sounds like it could be made in a similar way. Nice idea.

  • Solo queue use to not be too bad about 2 years ago. Survivor was fairly OP and lots of good players still actively played a lot. Seems most of the good players moved on to other games or only play in a full SWF so you never see them. I rarely get poorly matched as a red rank survivor. I occasionally get a mixed bag of colors, but typically get all red or maybe a purple or two. Killers, I get all colors. The quality of the average solo queue survivor, regardless of rank is so sad it just makes for un-fun games. After thousands of hours of playtime, I have limited patience for solo queue survivor anymore. If I can't play in a SWF (even if the players suck), I usually try to play Killer. I'm not a great killer, but at least getting stomped as a killer yields more BP than getting stomped as a survivor with Pepega team mates.

  • @Ghoste said:

I loved old Ruin because it made skill checks actually take skill. Doings gens is so ridiculously mundane, and as a long time player, I wish there were more opportunities for skill expression as Survivor.

I fully understand why Ruin needed to be changed. Ultimately it was a good decision for the sake of balance. But nowadays I find myself missing that tiny red skill check when I'm casually popping gens with my mouse in one hand and my phone in the other.

Please devs, break up the monotony of skill checks. Add new mechanics so veteran players like myself have a way to actually express our earned skill, because any monkey can do gens as well as me despite me having thousands of hours logged. Or at the very least, buff Killer perks that affect skill checks so that they are more appealing and get used more than 1% of the time.

If you are bored, go run the killer and leave the gens to the noobs. Gens are mundane and that is true. Adding false difficulty to an already mundane task just makes me want to completely avoid the objective and spend my time memeing and sandbagging team mates. Be careful what you wish for!

  • @MrPenguin said:

Balance and bug fixing needs to be better. If killer was not as bad as it is (baring a few outliers like Spirit and Freddy) we'd have more people playing them and the survivor ques would get faster as a result.

You've got it backwards, killer queue's are 4-5 times longer than survivor queues. Buffing killer more isn't going to do anything but make that worse. I do agree things can always be tweaked for better balance. Lord knows the servers still have a long way to go. I hate bugs as much as the next guy, but I don't know of any that are currently positively game breaking. Playing lobby simulator for 10 minutes to get matched against seal team six is the biggest bummer for me. If it was instant, at least I could quickly move on to the next game.

  • Once upon a time, it actually took effort to become red rank. I won't say it was super hard, but it wasn't as easy as it is now.

Two years ago, you got matched with the appropriate "rank". Yes, people de-ranked intentionally and unintentionally by taking breaks from the game. Yes, low ranked players had to play people who were not truly "low rank" on occasion, but matchmaking would rarely just blatantly stick you with people that were way more skilled (per rank) than you.Yes, you would get SWF that was a mixed bag of ranks, but matchmaking would try to split the difference and pick a killer rank accordingly due to that average. A MMR (if done correctly; which I will believe it when I see it) would resolve this issue if the player base is big enough to allow people to be matched correctly, in a timely manner and with decent ping. But there is no reason why after years of the matchmaking working as most people imagined it should work, would all of a sudden go to crap once the dedicated servers were released. Why would the algorithm for matchmaking be any different because of dedicated servers? Why has it been almost a year and they still can't fix that? Why were matches quick 2 years ago, but now have super long queue's when it once wasn't like that?

I see "balance" mentioned a lot. The game is currently more balanced than it has ever been, especially for killer. Personally, I think lots of the "clutch" plays are what made the game fun and appealing. Removing all the fun stuff for balances' sake just makes the game more and more boring. The game still only has one mode after 4 years. I'm not about making it more repetitive and dull than it already is. Gens go super fast if you can't exert pressure and some killers are able to exert so much pressure that it is just a slaughter and that in of itself is zero fun to me as a survivor. Even when I suffer the horrible queue's and play killer and get a potato team I can dominate, that is super boring to me as well. Getting dominated by the flashlight squad over and over again is zero fun either and that is where MMR comes into play. Games are most fun when both sides are evenly matched so that it can be challenging. I personally don't think the game will ever be truly balanced, but changes to stop abuse of different things are good. Trying to shore up some of the "infinite loops" were and still are needed. A major roadblock to "balancing" the game is that some killers are highly mobile and some are not. Some are able to exert map pressure easier than others. Unless we are going to give all non-mobile killers Freddy teleport powers, no balancing is going to make all killers equal. I've seen numerous really, really good killers that could dominate the high majority of their opponents using any killer. Most of them play in way to what most people would find "un-fun" because they proximity camp and slug to get it done in certain cases. DBD was never meant to be and will never be MLG gaming. Wanting it to be CSGO kind of balance is never going to happen. Tons of things about the game depends on RNG and you can never really be "balanced" due to that fact alone. RNG is going to favor one side per match and no amount of "balance" or "getting gud" will overcome that. People are going to have to pull back on their ego's a bit and accept those facts about this game.

From the killers, first it was the hatch stand off, now most killers are pissed that hatch even exists. Healing speed got nerfed, then it was toolboxes, that got nerfed for a hook sabo meta that next to nobody does unless it's for meme's. Now the complaint is Keys, remove keys. It's gotten to the point that flashlights and med kits are the only thing in the blood web worth having. If keys get removed or nerfed, I'm sure flashlights or med kits will be the next complaint. People want to blame "one thing" and cause a big uproar about it until it finally gets "resolved" and then it's on to the next "one thing". There is not end to this mentality because it is ill conceived and will never bring about the resolution these people are looking for. The fact is the game is random and has to be because it is asymmetrical. Personally, I'm tired of spending tons of BP I had to grind out to be forced to spend 75% of it on near worthless crap I don't want so I can get all 80 perks when only about 20 are worth having! If they are going to nerf these items into oblivion, just flat out remove them like they did the moon bouguet's.

Personally, I don't see "balance" as a major issue because I remember what it used to be like. The game is actually decently balanced these days IMO.

If you really want "balance", the closest balance you are ever going to get in this game is by matchmaking being balanced with a MMR. If you can't 'get gud", you won't be matched with those that can. Now the game is magically balanced due to your skill or lack there of. Not the MLG ego stroke most are looking for, but that is reality.

  • @hahadrillgobrrr said:

Server side hit validation is top priority imo. Yes new and working matchmaking with low queue times would be awesome but that won't help much when you are against people with close to 200ms ping.

Thank you for your input. As stated, I'm honestly curious to see if I'm in the minority or majority with my gripe.

  • Super sweaty Rank 1 killers with a crap attitude. I just want to have fun and not feel like I'm a tee ball player going against MLG players. A MMR that actually worked, if it didn't extend already long wait times would be awesome. With how things have gone over the last 2 years, I have zero faith that will ever function better than the current system. Two years later, we have better killer balance, more cosmetics, maps, and characters than ever before, And it's all put into a game that is perpetually broken and puts babies to slaughter after waiting 10+ minutes for that experience.

  • Something simple... How about a mode with more than 4 perks? 5, 6, 8, 10, whatever. I'm curious how interesting and full sweaty a game could be if the survivors and killer could have more than 4 perks. Might not play out well in real life, but I'm curious none the less.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

Thats not contradicting, thats reasoning. For event items you didnt have to do as much in comparison to Legacy. Thats a undeniable fact, and thats reason enough to not hand out Legacy to players that never went through this hell of grinding. If youre that fixated on showing off some cosmetics, you may have some serious issue with being too much addicted to cosmetics than it would be healthy.

I could give two f's about the cosmetics. I have the howling grounds and summer bbq cosmetics. I never wear them.I rarely play the characters associated with them. But the devs are basically saying "we're doing what's right for the people that still didn't get their cosmetics returned to them for those events and therefore we are giving them to everyone for free", but then defending not returning Legacy to people that lost theirs due to the devs crap system. Most of those people lost their legacy due to no fault of their own other than not having the forethought of backing up their game save file. What the devs are saying is contradictory and malarkey. What's good for one is good for the other.

If you can show you purchased the game the day before legacy ended, give those people all legacy cosmetics, end of story (I would not fall into this category and would not receive any legacy cosmetics; so this isn't about me). This would be the simplest solution. Anyone that ever lost their legacy would get it back. You wouldn't have to decide who's lying and who's not. Is that a perfect and fair system, no. Would a few people that didn't deserve it get Legacies they didn't earn, yes. This game is 4 years old. The people that bought this game before that date that still play it has to be a small amount of the player base. Hell, if it would cause people to come back and play, that would be a good thing for us all and make for quicker lobbies!.

We really need to help these people down from the "grind" cross they place themselves on. You had to grind some big bloodwebs with a small bloodpoint payout per game. You'll live if 1K more people pop up in a lobby and have a legacy skin too.

  • @PodgeNotRodge said:

Bad enough the offerings dont even work xD but I've had two games of two different killers farming for a minute. Get you on last hook then when all 4 are injured, start drowning and hooking everyone. Even after texting to farm 😕 like I understand farming is often frowned upon but are people REALLY sad and desperate to say "Hey, let's farm" then just f#ck everyone over.

This is why many survivors refuse to farm. Their has to be trust with the killer and many killers have burned that bridge. Unfortunately, the world is full of less than honorable people. As far as frowned upon, you can't force anyone to farm. If they don't want to farm, let them do gens and leave. It's really that simple. Someone farming is the same as getting a lousy killer. Your points will be low, you do the objective and move on to the next game. Same as when you get decimated, move on to the next game.

  • They typically turn up the spawn rate for the offerings in bloodwebs and convert all yellow flashlights and brown medkits (web and chests) into the special event versions. If this is not the case, I'd hope this is a bug that will be fixed soon. Like all their events, this one has bugs/issues too.

Survivors: Gen rushing doesn't exist. IT'S THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO!

BHVR: Here is something else to do.

Survivors: NOBODY IS DOING GENS WAHHHHH

Well, they can run around looking for them the whole game. If they don't go gens and escape, it means nothing. No gens, no win (unless you are a filthy hatch camper).

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

Ha. Go look at adept acheivements for both sides and come talk to me about fair 😂

I've easily earned all killer adepts (other than nurse; because I won't spend the time to learn how to play her) and I play survivor 75% of the time. Adepts on both sides are super easy at lower ranks. Doing adepts on either side is difficult at high ranks. It's really all about the survivors or the killers skill level. Perks don't mean much at lower ranks against below average players. That sums up this entire game.

  • Legacy wasn't that big of a deal and should be earn-able for new players or simply given to everyone for free.

Decisive Strike is not OP. I never run it because I almost never get to use it. The majority of killers don't slug. The super sweaty killers always assume you have DS, slug you off hook and try to wound or down other survivors while you are recovering. Those type of killers have an internal timer and remember how long it takes you to recover down to the second. They are always back to pick you up just before you can get your unbreakable completed or just after DS runs out therefore making it useless.

  • @EnviouSLAY said:

the event items you barely had to clock anytime playing in to get; legacy took time just sitting there going through the BS that was the bloodweb system when the game first came out. No, Legacy should not be given out to everyone. If you weren't around for the start of dbd to really go through the struggles you don't deserve it. The only people who deserve Legacy right now are the ones who lost it because of the faulty game save mechanics that reset so many players accounts. So many people have proof that they were around and had x y z pieces of legacy and BHVR won't do anything about it. It is possible to restore the cosmetics as we have seem several people banned for "hacking" it back. But I digress, a cosmetic is a cosmetic, most of the event cosmetics were just recolors at the end of the day. It isn't that deep.

Either you have forgotten or you didn't play the first lunar event. You had to play offerings to get the points you needed to claim the event cosmetic. The event was bugged. 8 out of 10 times you played a offering, the game would crash and you lost your offering. This was before offerings were returned when a match was cancelled. I spent an insane amount of hours playing this game and spending blood points for offerings that were pissed to the wind because like all their events, it was bugged. Was it Legacy blood web amount of grindy, if you are talking about earning one level of Legacy to earning one lunar event cosmetic, yes, they were comparable due to the game crashing and wasting your offerings. Saying you "barely had to clock anytime playing" is bull.

You had to play both killer and survivor. You couldn't earn the cosmetics just playing one side. Event hooks were sabo-able and killers would specifically 3-4 gen strat the event gens to be a douche as they almost always spawned clustered together. Those events were toxic AF! Don't try and tell me the cosmetics were basically given to me.

Their are several hardcore DBD players that P3'd nearly all their original survivors and killers and got legacy on most all of them. They had triple blood point events during this time period. How super difficult it was is drastically exaggerated. New players starting out now trying to P3 nearly 30 characters is the epitome of "grindy".

  • @SpyMature said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1376523#Comment_1376523

Why are you giving away only the event cosmetics? If you say that you do this because you cant restore some players progress and give them the cosmetic that they didnt get even though they earned it, this should also apply to Legacy cosmetics. Some players got their legacy, but it was taken away from them, and you couldnt restore access for them.

If you truly don't want to "alienate" the community, you will either give away BOTH Event AND Legacy cosmetics for the same reason you're giving away Event cosmetics, or give away NONE.

    100% this. Couldn't agree more.

  • Playing on 1440p here. Game is unplayable. Gonna have to fix for 1440p ASAP or revert the change. Definitely more people playing on PC in 1440p than 4K. Add actual resolutions to your ######### game!

  • I've done this on several maps. Rocks, two story buildings, Haddonfield, Thompson House, off of the big rocks. Chased by the killer, with the chase music playing, drop from a "great height" multiple times in one game and this challenge just absolutely refuses to pop. I've gotten to the point I'm tired of trying.

Is this bugged for anyone else?

  • In upper ranks, tunneling and camping only usually happen if the killer is really bad, you really pissed them off or all the gens are done. I see slugging as more meta than camping and tunneling. Although I don't like to be slugged or to slug, if done right, it is definitely the best way to slow down the game and can turn around a gen rush losing game to you decimating. Although it is un-fun, slugging is the best way to "pressure" the survivors and bring gens to a crawl or stopped.

  • This is a poor example, but Marth's was a good one so to those of us that watched the "DePip Squad", we already knew that the game is survivor sided. If the survivor team is top notch and all 4 are in comms, unless they screw up, the killer is screwed. Bad team mates and solo queue "give" killers wins. This is why killers get kills. You can't eliminate SWF, you can't eliminate solo queue. The only real option is to put comms in the game. Just as with any game, you should be able to mute your team mates. You choose whether to use it or not, but it should be in the game to even the playing field between SWF and solo queue.

This is the main reason the game can never be balanced.

  • The times the toolboxes "seem" to come in clutch are rare. They last such a short period of time, to use them just feels disappointing. I still wish they had adjusted gen speed and left tool boxes alone. When you spend thousands upon thousands of hard earned blood points on items, they shouldn't feel like they give you a 1% advantage. I hate flashlight saves as a Killer and I don't run them as a survivor. For me, that only leaves keys and med kits as something that is worth having. I'm sure keys will get nerfed somehow in the future because that is the main Killer gripe now.

The developers have done everything in the world to make the game less Killer sided EXCEPT what actually needs to be done. Fix maps and extend gen speeds is what should have been done long ago. Keep the ruin change because it is annoying and revert all the item changes. Bring back BNP, old toolboxes and insta heals!

Once I P3 a survivor and get all perks, I don't waste another BP on them. I play Killer maybe 20% of the time and I'd rather dump BP in a Killer I don't play than to dump 1 extra one into a P3 all perk survivor. It feels like throwing money out the window.

  • But this "scissor" noise in the menu has gotten old very fast!!!

  • Can be a pain yes, but not as painful as some of the achievements. Evil Incarnate, Skilled Huntress are both not fun, quick or easy.

    in Adepts Comment by CotJocky
  • I hate that map as killer or survivor. It is my least favorite map. Too dark and great for Blendettes who crawl around all game when I play killer. Wide open with mostly unsafe loops that are sometimes very spread apart when I play survivor. Just way too open in the middle. If I could avoid only one map, that would be it for me.

  • @Zaitsev said:

Either derank or run a slug build to have fun.

Rank 16 Killers get Red Rank SWF's. I don't think deranking will help. lol...

  • Matchmaking is still screwed up and survivor lobbies are still painfully long. No changes here. Occasionally get a survivor lobby under 2 minutes, but not often.

  • I enjoyed the events, but... Except for one event, "Event Hooks" could be Sabo'd, which is dumb and killers would try to defend the "special gens" so as to deny survivors their extra points. The event was nice, but the community would always go full try hard or just be down right toxic. Pretty much how most every double blood point event goes.

This game is far from perfect, but the events being disappointing or less than fun was fully the communities fault.

My guess is it is at least partly our fault that they no longer do them.

    I miss 2017-2018.

  • I've seen a couple bot killers in the last year or so, but they are indeed rare. People report them and the account gets banned. Defeats the purpose of having a bot. All the BP you farmed is no good on a banned account.

  • Any good killer, because being decimated just isn't fun. If it's a potato team and its just unhook after unhook, I'm not going to waste my time. Let me die and move on to the next game.

    Killer characters:

Freddy is just annoying. Partly due to the dark "sleep state". I hate playing against Legion and the Plague and clown for the very same reason. The screen border from the Plague, the dark screen from being "frenzied" and the blur of the clown gas. This all gives me a headache. I just want to not deal with that crap.

  • The game has been unbalanced since day one. I accepted that long ago and appreciate the times the balance is shifted in a good direction. If I lose due to my lack of skill or just being outplayed by better gamers, I'm ok with that as long as they aren't rude. I despise losing a chase, hit, advantage, a game due to bugs or poor game mechanics.

Getting dedicated as survivor or killer. Ghost saws with Billy (server issue), Myers not stalking when I'm staring directly at a survivor (server issue). Half grab animations that don't result in a grab or a hit when it 100% should have been a grab. Pretty much everything about these servers in general. If they bring us crossplay and the queue's can speed up exponentially, at least that could be some kind of consolation. As it stands, you can keep your DC penalties and give me back my P2P!

Dog shite team mates in general. I'm not "good", but a large percentage of the player base (at all ranks) are down right horrible. Hopefully MMR will keep the potatoes together, but my hopes of something that positive happening are very, very low.

You guys really don’t get it do you lmao I’m being honest here not trolling. It’s got nothing to do with being new or veteran player. I speak on behalf of point distribution and melee range of killers. I don’t think those things are fair. Don’t put vaults in the game if they don’t work properly. If I took the time to go through a vault why am I getting slammed into the ground when the killer is back behind me on the other side of the vault? It’s just rough.

No one thinks you are trolling. Everyone thinks you are a new player and clueless. You obviously don't have enough experience to truly know what you are talking about. We all though "killers were so op!" when we were new. Play a thousand hours; half of that as killer. You will change your mind.

Killers are intentionally allowed to hit you through a window. It's been that way since day one. 3 feet from a window, you are gonna get hit. If you are 6 feet from a window, it's latency. The hits are "generous" at times due to the servers that were implemented 6+ months ago. Hits on P2P were better, but there were still ping spikes and killers "could" (It didn't happen much to me) implement a lag switch to get unfair hits. Severs stopped lag switching, but implemented a lot more "latency" than was in normal good ping P2P games. It was a trade off. A bad trade off many would say. If it brings us crossplay, and god help us, better lobby times, I will live with it. The only thing worse than bad hits is playing lobby simulator.

  • It's the little pr*cks with no manners that tilt me. I can except the key, I don't like it, but I can except it. Then to call some names after escaping, they need to grow up. What they really need is for their mommy to lite their rear ends up because they are probably 11 years old.

  • Not to sound like a d*ck, but if you "slug for the 4K", you need to "git gud" or be happy with a 3K. It's not the end of the world. I promise.

How is it killers can go in with little to no perks and slay people like that in a game that’s so perk dependent 😂 telling me killers don’t need a nerf on their melee range or speed or something? They dont even need perks 😂 solo survivor makes me sad man this ######### sucks. Killers just swiftly get their 4Ks so I don’t wanna hear about gen speeds

That's low ranks. That's a completely different ballgame. Noob killers vs noob survivors, it seems easy being a killer (especially from the survivor's point of view). Once the survivors become "average" and the killer "average", especially if the survivors are in comms, the killer will get a 1-2K per match or a no K. 4K's are not the norm. Once the killer and survivors become "good", dependent upon map and the killer played, if a Killer can average a 2K, they are doing well. 4K's are a minority unless the team/survivors are potato. Two weak players can drag two good ones down.

I've played 1,765 on my main PC account. 976 on my secondary PC account. 1K on PS4, 1K on my secondary Xbox account and 1.5K on my primary Xbox account. 80ish% has been played as survivor. 95% of survivor play has been in solo queue, not SWF.

I make it to Red Ranks every reset without trying to be there or being "good".

This game was super survivor sided in 2016 and has been getting less and less survivor sided for almost 4 years. And it is still survivor sided. There are a few hand fulls of really good killers that can decimate and they don't decimate every game. The majority are average and the rest are sub average to pitiful. Everyone gets bad team mates. Everyone has a bad game. Even bad killers get lucky and have good games. But this game is 100% survivor sided. Only the inexperienced, or those that never play killer can't see that.

After thousands of hours, I'm still only consider myself a "above average" survivor. I wouldn't classify myself as "good". But I've played enough to know what is fact. The fact is if the survivors do the objective which is to get 5 gens done as quick as possible and leave, there is almost nothing you can do to stop that. You have to get 2-4 hooks in before 1 or 2 gens are done and keep the pressure on or you will not get a 4K.

In most mid to high rank games, if everyone is on a gen and doesn't goof off, search chests, sabo hooks, etc... One guy gets chased for 60 seconds and goes down. By the time the killer gets the survivor to the hook, 3 gens pop. The game is already lost.

If you play long enough, you will realize this.

  • I solo queue 95% of the time. I will agree, if the game had built in comms, then they could balance towards a SWF. That would eliminate the trying to straddle the fence with the balancing between SWF and Solo Queue Survivors. Might be able to balance the game a bit more for killers.

I'm sure many don't want to be forced on comms. They would just mute it. But that would be the excuse to give the killer more advantages.

Killer is a lot easier at red ranks where ruin was used most due to rank dilution in survivors. If ruin was still in the game BHVR's income would reach an all time low. Thanks for being selfish I guess, anything you want me to speculate on?

Just facts... True Red Rank Survivors. Once that had good skill and experience. Ruin meant nothing. If it was down, great. If not, they would plow through it like it wasn't there. Ruin did nothing to slow down truly good survivors. Ruin slowed down the Potatoes so you could catch them while they looked for Ruin. The game is so unbalanced that against a really good Rank 1 SWF, you had no hopes of a 2K, much less a 4K. IF they just wanted to plow through gens and leave. Most want to goof off, moonwalk and troll. That's the only reason any of them every died.

  • I feel you. I don't play on console anymore, but people will message you with nasty stuff even when it was not your fault. I've been there.

I know it sucks to have to do it and it stops you from possibly making new friends that could be worth knowing, but if the hate is too much, before you fire up the game, set it up so you don't receive messages from non-friends.

That's the advantage of Steam. If they are not a friend, they can't send you a message. All they can do is send you a friend request. You can accept, deny or just leave it hanging. There is end game chat, but if you don't like it, you can close it and you never have to see or hear from anyone. Just play the game and move on to the next one.

Sucks it has to be that way, but it is what it is.

  • The game is in a better state for Killers than it has ever been. Only those that played in the old days really know how survivor sided this game was. And I mostly play survivor. True infinites, vacuum pallets. exhaustion recovered while running, no window entity block, 4 second heals, insta-blind flashlights, instant gen repairs with BNP, and the list goes on.

I do agree that gen speed is too fast, especially on larger maps and with less mobile killers, but I do believe that killer is in its best state ever.

I also don't agree with giving survivors too many more advantages. I don't have a problem with shaking up meta just to keep it fresh since it seems we will never get different game modes, but giving survivor more advantages won't improve the game. Lobby queue's are horrible. We need to get more people to play killer. Making killer harder won't accomplish that. I'm willing to do some sort of trade to make killer better/easier if it will make lobbies quick again. And not pit low rank killers against mid to high rank survivors. That's not fair at all!

  • I've definitely played more survivor than killer. I don't agree that you should be able to open a exit gate slugged. But I do agree being slugged is boring. So boring that just as I have a choice to die on hook, I should have a choice to "bleed out" if I want. I shouldn't be forced to lie on the ground for several minutes. I hate those killers that continue to re-slug you over and over and/or those that slug the next to last guy sweating for the 4K. It's boring. It's a waste of my time. I don't mind "losing". I do mind wasting 5 minutes doing nothing.

Sorry, I should have clarified. 2 games in 1 1/2 hours is in a 2 man SWF game so I guess the wait times are expected to be longer.

I get what you are saying and I have considered going to play another game. I guess I just don’t want to give up on dbd yet. If I have people to talk to or things to do in between then it’s not so bad.

I applaud your patience. I couldn't do it, at least not on any kind of regular basis. Luckily, 5 minutes is the long side for me he majority of the time. 2-5 minutes average. I almost always play Solo. I guess I need to fire up the consoles and see if it's way worse there or if it's just a regional thing that you are experiencing. I'm by no means super close to the server. I think the one on the east cost is approximately 600 miles from me.

  • BK is great all the time, but only a 1/3rd as fast as We'll Make It once activated. When playing with noob friends, We'll Make It is a wonderful perk. It can be very clutch. Especially when you get 2-3 heals per activation. If you can't get the unhook, it's worthless. Like all perks, there are games where one can be way more beneficial than the other. If you are running a medkit, then I'd definitely go with BK.

Those are pretty good times. On PS4, as survivor, sometimes I only get 2 games in 1 1/2 hours. The long wait times occur more so than not especially at night time.

Not to be a d*ck, but if I was getting 2 games in 1.5 hours, I'd be playing a different game. If lobby queue's are more than 5-10 minutes, I would not play that game. Not just this game, any game. That's way too much time to ask. I think 30 seconds to 2 minutes is a reasonable amount to wait, more than that you are trying your customer's patience. After 5 minutes on a regular basis, I'm thinking somethings wrong or the game is dead. 5-10 minutes, you better be fixing something quick or I'm gonna shelve your game if this is the norm. Just my feelings about it.

I enjoy this game, but I won't except a lobby simulator from any game.

If a significant amount of people are waiting this long, they have worse problems than I realized.

  • Ultimately, it's a gift, not something that is necessarily earned. The Killer "allowed" you to live. If he didn't, he was not obligated to let you live. It's really that simple.
