The satisfaction of downing 2 survivors behind a wall or landing a hit after a vault makes him one of my favorite killers. Never mind the utility of the cage and execution mechanics. The only thing holding me from playing him more in the past was his weak synergy with old BBQ.
I also find survivors are very horny for him and will often sacrifice themselves in ecstasy.
-
I used to buy many games and would not play them for long. I think Skyrim and Fallout were my big ones with hundreds of hours.
Then DBD was released and 2555 hours later saved me money at the price of my sanity.
-
Unrenlenting on Dredge was a favorite of mine during the last days of old dead hard. It comes in clutch sometimes and can bait early unhooks for grabs.
-
Update: It is working for me now and progressing as expected. Not sure what was going on but maybe the restart did it.

Same issue, I had made it to 70 seconds and now it's stuck and won't update for me - not even 1 or 2 seconds of coop
Good to know I am not alone. Hopefully, that means it is on their radar.

don't start me on Twins, i tried for hours, nearly FLAWLESS game, but the last survivor managed to escape and i didn't get the adept.
Plague went easy for me, but it's because people play like headless chickens vs her, but god, Twins are a curse, Pig is something i won't even attempt, completely useless perks
I still have PTSD from Twins adept lol
-
I run support perks to improve the chances for the whole team to escape. The longer they survive the better all our chances.
Botany and Leader are the core of my builds with Detective's Hunch, Prove Thyself, or Kindred. I cannot count the number of times being able to heal against Sloppy or supporting others with Leader at the gate, near Hex totems, or unhooks has saved the day.
-
I remember getting jump scared once by a bubba just standing in the middle of the house on Ormond. It was fun and unexpected. Trying out some insidious around generators can be fun but you have to be ok with gens being completed in some other part of the map while you set your traps. It has to be gameplay based around role-playing rather than blood points or victory.

Was that your first ever achievement?
This one's mine.

I spent most of my time in Survivor (still do, really), so I didn't get The Grand Sacrifice till three weeks later.

In a public match, escape through the hatch.

A valid consideration but if that was the case i could still run to the killer, im talking about when the game is just lost or has swinged badly in favor of killer beyond redemption
I have escaped many matches that were "lost". If you give up you will never know what it feels like to beat the odds.
Many people will do it on the first hook because they don't like the map or killer.
-
You don't want to DC so you want another way to 100% get out of a game at will.
-
Hexy is obsessed with "winning" no matter what. To him, it is logical to play as nasty as you can to get the 4k as he has no empathy. He is a very good killer but mostly plays Wraith over and over and hook trades or 3 gens are his preferred strats. If you have someone with thousands and thousands of hours play the most simple killer in the nastiest way possible he will be "overpowered" in most matches.
-
It lends a sense of tension once you have accumulated enough void energy to deposit. Reminds me of Escape from Tarkov or The Cycle: Frontier.
-
I enjoy Empathy, Leader, Botany Knowledge, and Kindred. Heal others faster, get healed faster, help others get unhooked faster, and help open gates faster besides all the info Kindred provides. I swap out Empathy for Prove Thyself or Bond sometimes.
-
I am on break #4 since 2016. It is normal and healthy.
There are some games where the combination of factors like map version, the perks and add-ons you chose, the ones the survivors chose, and the decisions everyone makes during the match make it impossible for you to win. That is OK.
Just do your best and live with the result or love yourself and play something you enjoy for a while.
-
I just checked and all my killers are prestige 8 now. I had all perks all killers *without prestige before the change. My Dwight had all perks and he is prestige 9 now. ( I have not played very much since the prestige changes so this is close to what it should have been for someone in my situation )
-
I use blindness add-ons and perks to counter windows of opportunity. It makes it harder for them to chain things and avoid dead zones.
-
I feel like a predator when I play Dredge. Inhuman and formless death. Best M1 in the game.
-
Farm matches and insults galore would be the majority of the interactions.
-
I would love them to be useful again. Give us offerings to change the battle space.
Day, night, and everything in between. Rain offerings come to mind...

We had to avenge those two poor fellas somehow.
Perks matter for this achievement and you can get this done if you are patient enough to carry them far from the lockers.
-
Just read the addons for your killer and focus on blindness effects.
-
2017 Iri with Infantry belt was much worse
-
It was a message for all players and the stats reflected that.
-
It is part of playing the role. The killer's burden of being the one against the group. Think of them as NPCs and try to have fun. Win or lose who cares it is DBD. Just put on a good show. End game chat has not served any purpose for me since 2017.

Killers rely on slowdown and aura perks and they still exists even stronger than before. Why are survivors expected to always adapt and do without yet killers still get anything and everything? If I am playing survivor I don't get faster for playing poorly.
You completely ignore the years of survivors running wild and the killer role being one that was avoided by most players.
Now see how they flock to the role and learn how it feels to kill. This was intended. It emboldened the ones who were afraid.
You know the balance will shift again. Let them taste the blood and hear the screams for just a little while longer.....
-
"Of course it sometimes, albeit rarely in specific scenarios extended the chase under very specific circumstances but shouldn't that what a perk does? Help you survive?"
@Sluzzy Dead Hard for distance happened way more often than you are implying here and saved many survivors from death. The argument can be made that some survivors relied a bit too much on this "skillful play" and are having to adapt which takes time.
Same thing happened when balanced landing was changed to make it less strong.
Players are already adapting and escaping more. Just not as much as before.
-
Have more faith and let the dice roll Solo queue style. Trying out new characters keeps the game fresh and should not be punished.
Don't judge a player by their prestige because even experienced players have bad games or can play selfishly.
-
Players who did not have all perks unlocked got a nice boost and can try a wider array of gameplay styles. I am equally dividing up points and keeping all the characters I play stocked with items and offerings until the next DLC. I don't understand the race to prestige 100.
-
Any game I spent money on and did not play many hours was a waste of money. I bought all the DLC as they came out and a few outfits but it cannot be more than $300. Currently, the game has cost me about 12 cents per hour.
-
Paying attention to pips or "losses" is not good for mental health. Go with the flow. What will be will be.
-
If you recognize the danger you can play the foil and disrupt her web. It works best if you have a flashlight so I would prioritize opening chests if you do not.
Of course, if she has Franklins then you will have to play the game of setting the traps off right at the edge of their radius and running away.
Disrupting her web is your only chance if she is competent.
-
I have avoided the worst of it by spending what I earn immediately. This breaks up the long spending sessions.
-
We just run it for the points :)

Unloseable games have way more to do with bad matchmaking than with which character/build you bring in.
I've died to every killer and escaped against every killer.
I've 4k'd as every killer and 0k'd as every killer.
I really wish we had deep stats on all our characters' deeds throughout the years. How many Dwights have I killed? I will never know.
DBD is what you make of it. I prioritize actions that earn me points and just go with the flow of the match trying to have fun.

So I have way too much time in this game. Like....waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time in this game. Like....waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay...
(I have 107 days, 11 hours, and 7 minutes according to my Xbox right this second)
My highest prestiged character is level 9 with the rest of them falling between 3 and 6 for the most part
I just never really bother to prestige but I'd like to think that I'm a pretty dang good survivor at this point...
Correct. I also never prestiged in 6 years. I am a threat if underestimated based on prestige.
I am spreading the blood points to all the characters I play and have no desire to rush to 100 on anyone.

Discordance doesn't help when it fires on a gen on the other side of the map. Most maps can take literally 30+ seconds to walk over there. The problem is that only a handful of killers can actually do something about it in that situation.
That can happen but that is part of the gamble. I see medium-distance procs far more often than far unreachable ones.
As the match progresses and the gen pool gets smaller it will be even more useful assuming they have not figured out you have the perk yet. Many will keep doing it because of blood point greed even if they know you have Discordance.
-
This is why I always say this game has no win conditions.
I like the fact that if I clearly outclass the opposing team I can choose to be less efficient so they can recover.
This results in more blood points for all.
I get into it and roleplay the killer. For example, as Mike, I will just stand on a hill looking menacing before slicing em up again
-
I see survivors adapting since the patch and escaping when they play as a team. Kindred in solo really makes it tolerable for me at least.
BHR will eventually tip the scales again. Killers endured first down DS, new DS at the gate, and Dead Hard for YEARS so how about some patience or just take a break? DBD breaks are healthy.
BHR is going to base its decisions on balance based on the stats. Now that people are playing somewhat normally stats should tell the tale.
-
Plan your builds based on what you want to counter. If this perk annoys you then you should equip Discordance.
I equip anti-healing builds when I want to interrupt healing as a strategy. I equip chasing builds when I feel like dominating chases. Others equip 4 anti gen perks to ensure they have plenty of time to catch survivors.
The game gives you tools but they will not be useful in every situation. It is a gamble.
-
OP is a Prove Thyself enjoyer
-
The zombies defending key gens is annoying especially if the Nemi has all gen regression going.

For sure being on comms helps survivors, although I’m a little confused on what that has to do with not catching them at loops? Aside from occasional bodyblocks being in a swf won’t help you much midchase, it more helps the survivors who aren’t in chase know where the chase is happening so they can do gens or know where to go for a rescue.
As far as beating survivors in loops, one of my own weaknesses is still not knowing for sure the best routes on certain tiles (e.g. do I want to run the loop clockwise or counterclockwise?) There are some guides to looping on Youtube which are ok but every tile is a bit different so really it’s just a matter of playing a ton and thinking about what went wrong. But in general the goal in a loop is to do it so that the survivor can’t automatically get a fast vault on each pass, so you want to have them approaching the vault from either a short side or a shallow angle. Either that or, like in the killer shack, you want to be able to possibly mindgame them by moonwalking just before the vault so they vault right back into you.
Mostly though I think just as important as doing well in a given chase is knowing when to switch targets and go after someone else. Getting the intuition of when to start a chase or break off a chase is huge because if you chase one survivor too long it leaves up to three survivors free to do the gens. If a survivor is clearly running into a remote area with a strong tile and no gens in that area for instance consider chasing someone else since that one clearly isn’t working on anything at the moment anyway and you can deliver a lot more immediate pressure on the group as a whole by taking a couple extra seconds to go after an alternate player who is on a generator and maybe in a weaker area where pallets are already broken, etc. Learning to say “Nah, I’ll go after somebody else” can really help you keep the survivors off the gens more often and give you more opportunities to find survivors who are easier hits and downs.
Also one last thing is don’t be afraid to slug for pressure. If you literally hook immediately after every single down you’re probably giving up too much time carrying the survivors over and over without actually getting the three hooks in a row on any one of them. It’s perfectly fine to hook one or two survivors and slug the others so that you can focus more of your time on chasing and downing the ones who are closer to elimination. Basically you trade a hook state you don’t need immediately for 10 extra seconds or so to get into a brand new chase on a more valuable target. So while you don’t want to overdo slugging either, since losing too many hooks to revivals is also bad, slugging when you’ve downed someone who hasn’t been hooked yet and there’s another good target to go after is something to keep in mind.
Counterclockwise seems to be the trick in most situations.

But it's not fun......... far from it, And when game after game is frustrating then that's not fun.
If 2 or more survivors are working together the killer is outmatched........
Seems to me that any game that has a high bar requiring a lot of experience and time invested to get anywhere is going to have a hard time attracting new players, from what other people have said in here, it's only going to get worse with the next character update........
Some games are impossible to win in the traditional sense if you consider that 3 or a 4k. That can be frustrating. I focus on earning bp and that is always my goal. I also like giving most survivors a chance at a fun match if I am dominating them. It means more bp.
The killer role is easier than it has ever been so as you improve or change your tactics, controls, perks, add-ons, and which killer you are using, chances are you are going to do very well in most of your matches. "The ones that got away" stick in our minds though.

And there's the problem, with it being so frustrating I'm not going to get too 700hrs in the vain hope of standing a chance....... and I suspect neither will other players.........
The game is designed to frustrate. It is a mind game. You have to go into matches without any expectation of victory.
Just go with the flow and earn blood points to get the perks you want. Losing means nothing in this game. Just have fun.
-
It takes about 700 hours to start to be able to understand their tactics and have a chance at countering them. You can also watch instructional videos on youtube but probably not for this new version of DBD.
Just do your best and try to learn from your mistakes. Hide your red light. Break pallets to save yourself wasting time trying to mind game. Carefully pick perks that will enhance how you want to play. * Read survivor perk descriptions.
Lean into either gen slowdown, end game perks, anti healing, or chase focused. Multiple perks of the same type will enhance your chances.
-
I would love it if you could switch to Charlotte and Victor automatically started dragging the downed survivor towards her.
Survivors could kick him while he was doing it to stop the dragging.

My brother in Christ I have everything unlocked.
I would still have goals related to gathering addons and items on characters that are low in inventory.
-
My mom used to tell me to focus on my next step instead of the entire journey when I would complain about walking a long distance. It applies to DBD quite nicely.
Focus on the unlocks in front of you and then worry about the next unlock. Plan it out like a grand strategy game.
-
In this game of silent interactions with other players, it can be difficult to ascertain motive.
You can feel something is toxic but maybe the player is just doing a challenge or daily that requires them to do that thing.
The game designers are the ones who allow these interactions that they must know are unpleasant. If the game allows you to do it, do it.
If it feels good do it. We play these games to feel good and escape. Do things we cannot normally do.
