If I am clearly destroying a baby killer, I'm not going to keep piling on with flashlight saves. You let him get the hook, then save. Too many people play this game to crush the spirit of their opponent.

I didn't see he was a rank 13 until the end screen. Also he got a few hooks, he didn't seem to be THAT bad, is not that he didn't hook anyone and I was just an douchebag that deprived him from some hook points and us from some hook save points. Also my teammates could say "hey, why do you bring a flashlight if you're not gonna use it??". My mission is to escape and help my team escape, not to help a leatherface hook someone to be camped when the doors are opened.

Honestly, if you're wrecking someone that hard, I don't see the point of adding insult to injury. Last time I played bubba, I was being gen rushed on badham and a guy was being a toxic tool, flashlight clicking, teabagging, and running to the god loop every time I looked at him.

I got a down and the same tool managed to get a flashlight save. I calmly chased the one he saved back down and proceeded to face camp with the saw. Of course someone tried to save and got killed too.

They tried to get salty, but I told them to blame their toxic teammate, because I was playing fair up to that point. Of course flashlights aren't toxic because they're in the game, but face camping is toxic, even though it's in the game too.

I didn't insult him, the killer insulted me because of a flashlight save, and I wasn't being toxic or anything, he just got really mad because of that and I can understand him, I shouldn't have been matched against him in the first place.

The difference is one is pretending that most DCs are not simply because a match isn't going someones way. No way that someone has to ######### at the same time they get downed for a 3rd time. I'm not buying it. But if you gotta go, you gotta go. If you DC it's 5 minutes. Enjoy your poopy time and when you get back your ban is over. Bottom line is the DCs were rampant and were not because of potty emergencies and I think we all know that.

I got a bad stomach, what can I say...

  • ALSO.jpg

Also, when i was ranking up... the killer started to insult me because I flashlight saved the last guy :-(

If you're bugged, just DC and suffer with the penalty. Some things can't be avoided - just submit a ticket and the devs will do something.

If the killer is bugged... just escape?

If someone is hacking, record the evidence and submit a ticket. You can spend your time doing that instead of leaving and letting it happen. They WILL get banned if you report it.

If the killer wants to farm, just go AFK and get some chores done until the game ends. There's life outside the game, right?

In other words.. DCing is not the only solution and the penalties are a good thing.

That, on wonderland, would work. But I have reported hackers, exploiters, etc... and I still see them in the game. But thanks for your reply, I agree on some things, not so much on others, if I want to play is because I don't want to do chores. Also, people can report you for going AFK so I don't understand half of the excuses, but again I don't totally agree but thanks.

Then go AFK and just die. Nobody is asking you to ######### your pants.

    @Ghoste @goat10em

What's the difference? to make the killer waste a few seconds, hit me twice, pick me up and put me on a hook? Also, that was an example, maybe I have to leave and turn off my PC or something. You know there's life outside this video game, right? The problem is when you're an ######### that DCs because you missed your DS or because the killer downed you first, that's the problem, when you DC because something happened INGAME.

What if I'm bugged and I can't move and I hold the game hostage because the killer can't even hit me?

What if the killer is bugged and can't move? Should I wait 15 minutes until he finally decides to DC?

What if a survivor or the killer is hacking or taking the game hostage somehow? Dedicated servers have NOT enterely remove hackers.

What if the killer wants to farm? I HATE FARMING, I DC immediately when the killer starts hitting a gen, I don't need BPs, I play this game to have fun and farming is boring, I'm not wasting 10 minutes of my life farming.

As you can see, there are a lot of good excuses to DC and going AFK is not always the solution. And even so, going AFK doesn not solve anything either.

I feel that Survivor is pretty dull nowadays, mostly because skill checks have no challenge anymore. I actually like playing against Doctor because he has some interaction with skill checks. I mean skill checks are a huge portion of the game on Survivor side, so Hex skill checks being gone has removed both challenge and skill expression.

I have to disagree. Skillchecks are boring. I wish the objectives themselves were not as boring as holding M1 for 1:20 minutes and occasionally pressing the spacebar.

Maybe if you have to solve minigames (like connecting some electric circuits or something) it will be fun to do gens.

That's my whole point, playing survivor is easy due to matchmaking/lack of red rank killers.

I hope that was an attempt at a joke because who would brag about being a red rank survivor and stomping a green rank killer.

No, no. I'm not joking and I'm not bragging either, I'm describing what's happening. If I get matched with decent red rank survivors (émphasis on "decent" since nowadays there are a lot of garbage survivors at red ranks that shouldn't be there) against a green rank killer, we destroy him, he can't loop, he barely mindgames and he does like 3-5 hooks and we all escape. I'm describing the state of the game now, I don't feel proud or anything but that's the truth.

But also, against red rank killers, if my team is decent (not even god tier survivors) the game goes by fast and we all escape without even sweating. I'm pretty sure the escape rate has gone waaaaaay up since ruin has been reworked.

  • @CornMoss said:

At the beginning of the game the killer will have their hex perks inactive until the killer looks at one of their totems from a 20m distance, this will set fire to the candles below activating that hex perk so the killer can decide where it goes and when they need it in the game. You can set keys to specific perk slots so you can choose which hex you want activated. This let's killers have their hex totems to be more interactive and have it not be destroyed by the survivors immediately, also some new strategy with perks like hex the third seal where you want to get some quick hooks in at the beginning of the game, after 3 gens go by you can activate the totem and start slugging. This also let's survivors have more of an objective because they could go around and watch the killer to see where he or she looks and go to those areas, as well as they have more incentive to cleanse totems so the killer cannot get it so there is some counter play to it. Killers can see totems auras within a 20m range and NOED can only be placed when all gens are done

    MORE WORK FOR THE KILLER????

    Thumb down.

  • @kcwolf1975 said:

Try playing as a rank 10 killer. You are usually matched up against all red ranks, many of them swf. Then it's a real challenge.

I don't want to brag, but I'm red rank survivor and I get matched against green ranks killers half of the time.

We DESTROY them... and I play with red ranks randoms, we're not even swf. So imagine what a SWF would do against green ranks.

Been playing a lot more Wraith recently. He's very underrated and quite powerful when used well.

All Seeying lery's or hawkins is a powerful and fun build.

  • I mained a lot throughout the years.

First Wraith. Then Hillbilly. Then Hag. Then Doctor. Then Pig. Now back to Wraith. I like the fact that he's so basic yet so fun to catch survivors off guard, or bodyblock them against a generator, looking at them and moving the camera left to right like saying "Nope, you're not going anywhere".

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

I jumped on one of @Peanits streams recently. To be honest I was hoping I might catch some insider information when his guard was down. (I didn't). Peanits played really well, he is a knowledgable and entertaining rank 1 killer who understands how to pressure gens and when to drop chases. He is very comfortable beating red rank survivors.

    However,

The survivors he faced were nowhere near the level of coordination, effectiveness and toxicity of the rank 1 survivors I face and hear others complain about. They were nothing like the survivors I see TrueTalent, Otz or HybridPanda (when he streamed) played either.

Are Canadian survivors the reason why BHVR thinks gen times are fine?

I have seen streams of people who everyone says "he's a pig main, he's a wraith main, he's a xxx main" and most of the time they face potatoes, and if not, they get destroyed (unless hillbilly or nurses main). If they face a good SWF they rarely have a chance. Of course it will happen from time to time, like Otz sometimes really sweats against SWF teams and wins, but he also loses other matches.

If all the community knows this game is broken, one stream of someone who plays this game for a living won't prove them wrong.

  • Good for you mate. Insidious Leatherface basement camper is fun as hell. Unless you play against a SWF team on Discord, they'll tell each other and you'll kill only one.

  • Hag, Oni, Ghostface, Demigorgon in that order.

    Completely disagree.

The devs aren't total idiots (I think?), they know the game is in a dire state right now, and that they need to fix things urgently. Don't expect Killers to eat dog ######### for months and have a horrible game experience just to prove with stats that the game is lopsided and broken right now. There is a reason that it takes 1 hour to get a match as a red rank survivor, and then only to get matched with someone 2-3 skill tiers below you. It doesn't need much explaining: the balance is completely busted.

No. The devs are not idiots. They know EXACTLY how broken the game is, but they want it that way so survivors have an easy and fun time and keep recommending the game to their friends. They only care about making killer "barely playable" and that's it, git gud.

  • @Mrjuice said:

Mori :requires hooking the survivor 2 times.

Keys:cannot be used until all 5 gens are done.

It's that easy. Why can't the devs do this?

They don't do it because it doesn't make sense.

If you can only mori on the last hook, you might as well hook the guy, since the animation takes roughly the same time as picking him up and carry him to a hook. It would render the moris completely useless.

The killer can do something about it if survivors crouch in front of them

not if they are at the exit gates. The only reason to do it is to annoy the killer and he can do nothing about it.

  • @Mandy said:

@Coder Mori Spam falls under griefing and is bannable under those circumstances if it continues for a prolonged time, because there's nothing a survivor can do to prevent that griefing and there's no other reason for the killer to do it, other than annoy the survivor.

Thanks for your reply Mandy, but as I stated before, if that "griefing" overlaps with the the bleed out timer, I don't see the issue, since it's the same as killing all survivors and slugging the last one to death. There's nothing he can do if you follow him and close the hatch and he doesn't have or has used his unbreakable. And even if he uses it, I down him again. And I don't have any reason to do that other than annoying him. Slugging to death should be bannable too.

Keep in mind I understand it's toxic, however there are so many toxic behaviours in this game, so many things had been said to me at the end chat, racist, sexists, insults of all kind, most of them reported and I still see these survivors ingame and it's really surprising that the only toxic behaviour to be banned is this one, the only mechanic the killer has to BM, when survivors have even more. For instance repeatedly crouching 4 times per second in front of the killer. Unless it's a huntress and you're dodging hatchets, there is no other reason to do it other than to annoy the killer.

I edited my post while you were typing. :) It's been changed from the old behavior, so you can't keep them there indefinitely anymore.

Ok great. Thanks for clarifying that.

So, to close this issue, it should not be bannable anymore, right?

  • @ClickyClicky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1079196#Comment_1079196

Why are you trying to defend it and justify it? Either way it’s toxic.

Nobody ever said tbagging was good anyway before you throw that back at me.

Well, banning mori-spam and not banning tbag seems bias. You either ban both or don't ban either. I'm not defending anything, just trying to be fair for both sides, since both are toxic behaviour that I wish the game didn't have.

  • @Almo said:

The bleed-out timer pauses during the mori trigger, meaning it can last a long, long time. Far longer than 4 minutes.

Well, that "should" be easy to fix, right? Just don't pause it and don't let the killer be able to cancel it if the survivors is 10 seconds away from bleeding out (edge case).

Also, you can make the killer finish the progress bar before the animation starts. That way it won't be BM. You could even make the survivor move freely, and when the killer confirms the mori, take him back to the original position and start the animation.

Just brainstorming here, but the problem seems to be technical and you should be able to fix it, banning people should not really be the solution.

  • @Almo said:

It is possible to mori-spam and lock a Survivor in place indefinitely. That is what's bannable.

You think people mori-spam for that reason? People mostly mori-spam to BM. If you want to lock a survivor in place with a mori, people will do gens. If he's the last survivor, he'll bleed out eventually, so letting the last survivor bleed out, mori or not, should be bannable then. If he's waiting for the DS, he might just mori him and that's it.

Can you think a real and practical reason why mori-spamming could give the killer any advantage? Because it doesn't make sense to me.

Of course, if it's just BM, then you should also ban tbagging and "clicky clicky".

  • @Kaelum said:

While Scott Jund's idea has merits, it is fundamentally BROKEN!

Why is it broken? Because the chase mechanic is 100% unreliable. Why do you think Mend no longer uses it. Instead, change the mechanic to Pause when a player is downed. When any downed player gets up, the mechanic Resumes in full effect. The only way to permanently End the effect, is to hook a survivor. Once the first survivor is hooked, and the Pause/End phase-out is over, the game plays as it currently does.

Pause/End should linearly phase-out the mechanic over 15 seconds, while Resume should phase-in the mechanic within 1 second. That is how you balance the mechanic, and there would not be any possible way to abuse it.

    https://youtu.be/LVnWIe-5Lcs

I don't like the idea, since the problem with early game is not finding the first survivor. It's true it might help Trappers or hags, but it will do nothing for the rest of the killers. The problem is that there is 0 map pressure at the begining of the match. This could be fixed by making the survivor go fetch something (for instance a highlighted toolkit, like freddy's clocks) before sitting on a gen. It will also help the killer find someone, since everyone will be traversing the map to get the toolkit.

  • @Dustin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1079146#Comment_1079146

It's dumb but I legit recall seeing a mod saying it was bannable on these forums before a thread got deleted. As I said above stupid rule and if it's such a scary thing to require a ban the rule should be removed and mori's should have a cooldown so no one has to worry about it.

It should be easy to fix too. Just have the killer complete the progress bar BEFORE starting the animation.

  • It's not. If BM with a mori was bannable, Tbagging and "clicky clicky" should also be bannable.

  • The problem is not really the gen speed. There are a lot of issues.

    1) Killers are so unbalanced between themselves, that 5 gens is enough for a hillbilly, but not really for a bubba, a wraith or a clown. All killers should (like pig) have a built-in slow down mechanic. Even if it's small, like applying mangled for every bubba's chainsaw, or a built-in Blind Warrior effect, or mangled if the clown hits you with the bottle and then hits you. ALL BUILT-IN, without the need to use an addon spot.

    2) Map design is bad with old maps. It's crazy that I have to follow a guy jumping the same window 3 times (wretched shop, ironworks, coal tower...) or drop the chase and find someone else, both really detrimental to me and 0 risk for survivors. They shouldn't have safe areas. You should be able to mindgame a survivor everywhere, those time wasters are just bad design. Though Devs are learning from their mistakes. New maps, like Lery's, yamaoka and Hawkins are balanced maps, since they have no infinite windows and jungle gyms are more unsafe than mcmillan, Crotus Prenn or autohaven.

    3) An early game mechanic (like go find a highlighted toolkit at the other side of the map, like Freddy's Clocks) would help the killer find people faster and would prevent survivors to sit on a gen the first 3 seconds of the game.

    4) SWF. Coordination gives too much of an advantage in this game. You can't ban SWF, since that was what made this game popular, but there has to be some penalty to gen speed for SWF.

    My 2 cents.

  • It depends.

If he got gen rushed, I'd say something along the lines of "gg man, this game is broken, it's survivor-sided, the devs are survivor-sided, this map is survivor-sided, the devs don't fix the infinite windows, the map design is garbage, there was nothing you could do in that match".

If he doesn't camp in the entire match and he camps the last hook, I'd probably be on his side saying to my teammates who are probably complaining "shut up, you have to camp the last hook, stop crying like baby survivors"

If he plays like camping, I'll probably move on. But those are rare cases, on our region, all the campers are well known, and you change nothing by insulting them, they'll just keep camping because they want the salt at the end of the game. They're the equivalent to toxic survivors who say "ez" every game.

  • There is a problem with gen speed. It's fine for hillbilly, nurse and spirit, even maybe Oni. But for other killers like clown, wraith, etc... it's not fine. At red ranks, if people are doing objectives, even if you're a good wraith, you have no control over it in maps like autohaven or mcmillan.

  • I wonder why the Devs added it in the first place, there must be a reason. Maybe so hillbilly doesn't abuse it, like going from side to side sniping people and automatically "kicking" gens.

It would make a strong killer even stronger.

  • @TheSpartan said:

Camping is a valid strategy. It's frown upong by survivors, but who cares what they think. Your objective is to kill.

Of course it you play the whole match camping is a little boring, but if the doors are opened, the last hook must be camped to try to secure the kill. What else would you do? go to the corner of the map to smell some flowers?

idk man, knowing how to not tunnel someone that has DS when there's a clear other free down is not something you can only realize in hindsight. its a pretty glaring simple mistake. I'm pretty sure he admitted to the mistake regardless.

Well, everybody makes mistakes, I'm sure you do too and I'm sure your viewers point them out too. However, that's the problem with this game, survivors have so many chances to f*ck up and still come back from it (Dead Hard, adrenaline, DS, BL, BT..., the old instaheals and even the new instaheals) but if the killer makes ONE mistake, he loses the game. That's crazy if you ask me.

  • @ScottJund said:

A lot of people still really don't get how snowbally this game is. A single different decision earlier in the game could have stopped two generators from being completed as fast as they were. At like 1:57 he tunnels the Yui instead of going for the rescuer. This alone cost him two gens. If he didn't tunnel the Yui, he would have downed the rescuer (who had no pallet since it was just broken), saved that generator, patrolled to the other generator that got completed, and would have gotten people off of that generator as well. The simple act of downing the rescuer instead of tunneling the Yui would have 100% saved those two gens for a far longer time, while also having people hooked against Hillbilly in a zone without pallets now, spelling certain death later as people rescued.

The entire game is a butterfly effect. Games where you make one mistake can create the illusion of genrushing because everything snowballs so fast from one mistake.

This video was not a good example IMO. Also, after nearly 10 minutes, they didn't even do all the generators with two very good toolboxes and Prove Thyself. That being said, I'm not saying there isn't an issue. Clown on this map in this situation would have been a way better example of being nearly helpless. Really any killer without map control would have been a better example.

    This wasn't one.

You shouldn't be obligated to snowball in order to win. Otz knows how to snowball (he plays trapper, which is mainly the only way to 4k with him) Also, in game you take rushed decisions because you're there, of course if you analize them afterwards you'll see them clear as day.

The best example of how broken the game is sometimes, is this one, basically the same scenario but with a low mobility killer without instadowns:

  • Deerstalker does not promote slugging, Knock Out does.

I used to run Deerstalker when I was a n00b, it was really helpful if another survivor was around to hit him, and then come back to pick up the survivor. Also, slugging has its risks, they can pick up the survivor and you lost the progress on your chase.

Don't forget the four windows and two pallets on grim pantry, yikes. If you know how to run it you can infinite the killer and let's hope the killer has enough sense to just walk away.

Yes, there are a lot of examples of strong windoes that should be removed, since some killers (like pig, wraith or LF) have no other option but to vault it 3 times, wasting an insane amount of time or leave and waste time looking for another survivor who might ALSO go to that window. That's just stupid.

  • @ZoneDymo said:

I know, who cares about points? but honestly I feel a killer should not get rewarded for tunneling, if you hook the same survivor 3 times in a row, that should heavily cost you bp and your emblem for that category imo

You, like many others, have failed to address the actual problem being discussed in this thread. This isn’t a problem that survivors should adjust to, rather it’s an inconsistent feature of the game’s perk system. No survivors shouldn’t have to bring an item for totems, and no they shouldn’t be put into a position where they have to expect a particular perk to be used by a killer. Case dismissed.

Wrong. The killer is not shown that the survivor has Dead Hard, or Balanced Landing, or DS (except for the obsession, but anyone can have it) or even if he's chasing the Adrenaline guy on the last generator. That's how all the perks work, they show up when they start acting, like thanatophobia or sloppy butcher, or Devour Hope. Devour Hope is not shown until the survivor is hit (not when the 3rd unhook happens). And NOED works the same way.

So, there is no inconsistency and there is no "Case". But if there was a "Case", sorry buddy, you lost.

  • @GurkLion said:

But at least give survivors a notification for when they have the debuff, especially if it’s the exposed status effect.

Part of what makes NOED NOED is its element of surprise. Bring a map, do totems and stop complaining.

  • JUST THIS NIGHT.

    1) A guy threw every pallet and did the "slap" movement (pressed 2). I had to camp him to death. Lost the match, but it was worth it.

    2) Another match, I played fair, I 2-hooked everyone, killed one guy, 3 escaped, all on death hook.

    -ez

    -ez

I was like "#########??? I could have destroyed you both so easily, you didn't even looped properly and you abused both Crotus Prenn windows, everyone was dead on hook, i didn't tunnel or camp, and you still say "ez"???? #########???"

On the other hand, McMillan and Autohaven have really formulated tiles. You just have to memorize how to loop them and that's it, you're a god-tier survivor. Also, ironworks of misery window and wretched shop are just ridiculous.

I get jump scared by unseen survivors hitting me with pallets or Head-On'ing me way, way more than I ever get spooked as a survivor.

Yep, me too, sometimes i don't expect it and the pallet gives me the jump scare.

Not head on really, I'm like... "well, sh*tty trol perk".

The difference is that the pallet has a strong wood sound that head on doesn't, you just get stunned.

NOED- It's such a cheap, crutch perk. Yeah you can cleanse totems and not worry about it but it just takes time away from doing things I'd rather be doing. And I hate dying to a killer who wouldn't have been able to without it.

HeadOn-Just an obnoxious, troll perk. 90% of the times I've been stunned by it were for no reason other than to troll. Didn't even know anyone was there then BAM.

I agree, Head on is not a defensive perk, most of the time they're just trolling you for the laughs.

It's insane that the killer has to fear everything on the map, gens, pallets, strong windows, and even lockers. I think this is a horror game, for survivors.
