As survivor, to either survive, or to die but if that helped my whole team escape.

  • I wish they dedicate more time and effort to bix bugs, rework maps and fix core issues, but that's just me.

I think breakable walls are just their fix for god loops like the one in ironworks of misery.

Well, then why don't they just fix the loops, like what they did to the cow tree loop, instead of doing this breakable walls thing. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I mean seriously? No terror radius and impossible to hide from. And a ridiculous distance of 32 meters.

Might as well just let him kill everyone on first hook as well, match is over before it started.

    1) It's an ultra rare.

    2) it only works in indoor maps, like Lery's, The Game or Hawkins.

    3) It's not that OP, I've escaped Lery's scratched mirror many times, and people have escaped my scratched mirror many times. Just gen rush and leave.

The PTB released like, days ago.

I remember when Ghostface and Demogorgan were considered low-tier killers.  Demo in particular didn't get much recognition until many months after his own PTB released.  Now people, at least from what I've seen, appreciate the Demogorgan more as a killer.

Ghostface was similar but I feel like he's gotten some good recognition too.  He was seen as terrible when he first released.

I personally feel like Deathslinger is going to take the similar route. Everyone is going to think he's a terrible killer until months after his PTB is done and over. He'll get some quiet changes, and is passed over until people realize he's more viable than people claimed to be.

I'm not going to claim he's the most viable. I don't think anyone claims that of Demogorgan either. But he won't get any proper appreciation until much later.

They got changes because of the feedback in these forums.

Why do you want to "chill" the feedback posts. Just let people speak.

By thinking creatively I'm talking more about making yourself less predictable than trying to predict the Spirit. The thing is "thinking creatively" for most players means slow vaulting the pallet back into her face which super predictable.

Like you don't have to predict "she will do exactly this so I will do this to counter" you have think "she can do this, that, or this other thing, so I could do this which counters all 3 safely, or maybe this which counters 2 and is more risky but then I gain more distance". As long as you make HER mess up she doesn't catch you, and it's very easy to mess up as Spirit. Come out of phase just 8m too far and that's another 15 seconds of chase before she can phase again.

And that's the problem, people try to beat EXACTLY what she is going to do instead of playing the odds in their favor and just do what they can to avoid the things she could POSSIBLY do. There is a massive difference between doing those 2 things. One you are putting all your eggs onto 31 black, the other you just bet red and have better odds but then a lower reward.

    So... guess.

  • Don't just read the title of the thread and type furiously and answer. This is not about nerfing billy. Do us all a favor and read the thread, or at least the first message. Thanks.

I've watched it. He is clearly in the category of "lacking creative thinking".

Just because you play the game a lot, just because you are good at the game, does NOT mean you are a good creative thinker. There are pro gamers that completely lack this skill, the reason they are pro's is because they play a lot and have a lot of experience and practice. But come at them with a new tactic or an off-meta character in a fighter and you will see them struggle.

It is an innate skill that you can do, or you can't. And it's not easy to learn. Impossible for some people honestly.

    Sorry, but BS.

Spirit is poorly designed, it doesn't matter how creative you are (or you think you are).

There's a concept in game design called "agency", which is granting the player the ability to make good and informed decisions.

Imagine playing Super Mario Bros... and one level is a straight line of tiles where, randomly, they might fall if you step on them and you die. No warning, all tiles look the same. You might think it's a matter of creativity, or that if you jump all the time until you reach the end is the best strategy since you reduce the probability of falling, but still it won't prevent you from stepping into the wrong tile and die. And it feels cheap, it doesn't feel like you did anything wrong to be punished that way, or, if you passed the level, It's thay you're smarter than everyone else and they're nubs, it's just bad level design. It's trial an error, guessing and some luck, all things you must avoid in game design.

That's what happens to spirit, you don't have visual or auditory clues of what she's doing, you have to guess based on how spirit play, how you'd play the loop, how you've seen other players play the loop, etc... but you might still guess wrong, no matter how creative or smart you are.

Now I know what you're thinking to yourself "you and oh tofu are just nubs, I'm so more creative and smarter than you guys, git gud" but you'll be wrong, and even if you are smarter than everyone else, it doesn't mean anything, Spirit will still be by textbook definition, a badly designed killer.

Title: "We should give Hillbilly 110% movement."

OP: "Why does everyone think I want to nerf Billy?"

I get your complaint, I've used clickbait titles here before (title: "SHUT UP ABOUT THE STATS" point: the stats aren't the ultimate authority on everything) but I think they just attract the wrong kind of attention. People who actually want a discussion will read threads about subjects they are interested in, making demands or proclaiming controversial opinions as facts will just attract people who want an excuse to be mad.

As it is, I did read your post and I agree, if Hillbilly is 115 then Deathslinger has no reason to be 110.

1.1k views. It was worth the clickbait, however I understand why only half of the people commenting were talking about Deathslinger's speed and the other half was like "waaaaat? you wanna nerf my billy boi??? how dare you you n00b rank20 survivor!!"

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1107292#Comment_1107292

Actually if you are guessing you are doing it wrong.

She has limited options. If you know how fast she actually is in phase, and how long she can phase, you can reliably predict what she is going to do and bait her into making the wrong move.

The only reason stuff like the stand still trick works is because people guess instead of looking at what is actually possible. When she does this trick, assume she is both standing there and phasing. Then you can consistently counter play her. I literally ran from a Spirit for 4 gens the other day because I understood that 1) she can't vault during phase, 2) she can't hear me (I had Iron Will), 3) she can't see where I am if I walk so long as I don't walk in the grass patches, 4) she can only come from this side or that side and will appear at X specific time after she starts phasing base on how fast I know her to be. What I would do would be to run in one direction, then walk back in the other direction or away from the loop entirely. I would make it appear as if I ran around the corner of the loop when in actuality I backtracked and then just straight up walked away from the loop. I would also drop pallets early knowing she would have to go around them AND knowing that when she did she wouldn't be able to continue chasing me with phase, so I knew I was safe to keep running for the next loop. Even if she predicted I would drop the pallet, she isn't fast enough to catch up going the long way around.

And I've been on the receiving end as well. I consider myself a strong Spirit player, but a few days ago I had a game on Ward with this Steve that was pretty much doing the same thing I would do, and he was INSANELY difficult to catch. I even had Stridor and he was able to run from me for 5 times longer than any other survivor in the trial. I've almost lost games as Spirit exclusively because of these types of players. They are rare, because majority of survivors just make really stupid decisions against the Spirit, but they exist. It's players like that which prove that Spirit, even good ones, can be outplayed consistently. Really the only reason I was able to catch the Steve was because he eventually ran to a jungle gym with no pallet and I was able to just brute force him down with phase.

People don't like her because outplaying her requires creativity which most people lack, or at least lack the desire to do. No other killer requires you to be creative with your movement and tactics. No other killer requires you to think on the fly and react to the player instead of just following basic patterns. Saying that losing to Spirit is not satisfying is just a cop-out honestly, because it's nothing to do with that at the end of the day. It's that she requires actual thought to outplay and no one wants to admit they don't think during a chase.

    No.

Yeah, well right now, Deathslinger is looking like a worse Huntress.

... Actually no, scratch that. He’s looking like a worse Demogorgon.

    Think about it. Shred:

    -Has a large, conal hitbox

-Can be used whenever the Demogorgon likes

-Guaranteed to deal one health state of damage on impact

-Can be used to circumnavigate basic attack rules (AKA Shred the obsession with Save the Best for Last to never lose stacks)

-Breaks pallets and walls on collision

-May or may not suffer a smaller movement speed penalty when channeling Shred, and has a brown addon that lets him move faster than a running Survivor while holding Shred

-Demogorgon can also place portals wherever he likes to teleport around the map

-Demogorgon is also a 115 Killer

    Meanwhile, Deathslinger’s harpoon:

    -Has a smaller, wonkier hitbox

-Has to reload after every single shot

-Even if you land the shot, you’ll still have to reel them in to hit them, else it was all for nothing

-Can’t pull Survivors back over pallets, making it effectively useless against said pallets

-Deathslinger is also a 110 Killer with no mobility

I’m not saying he’s a BAD Killer; I’m just saying, why would I ever play him over Huntress or Demogorgon right now?

"I’m not saying he’s a BAD Killer; I’m just saying, why would I ever play him over Huntress or Demogorgon right now?"

But he's got a new hat.

You can outplay a Spirit if you guess her movements right and that’s why players hate her. You are guessing where she is and trying to throw off her tracking. You don’t know her exact location in a chase like all other killers so when you go down it’s like “Darn, I guessed wrong. Guess I should play better”.

She’s a very unsatisfying killer to lose to. Not that she is OP or broken, just unsatisfying because you made the wrong guess.

Playing against Spirit is like flipping a coin.

Heads... ok, it seems I escaped, she´s still looping around that pallet, I'm gone.

Tails... oh... a hit... outplayed I guess...

  • If he's healthy, he'll get away anyway, unless you have NOED.

Convert the spear into an explosive bullet. Upon colliding with a survivor or obstacle, the bullet explodes in an 8 meter radius (ignoring walls and floors) and sends all survivors caught in the blast into the dying state.

Just play huntress with iridescent hatchets. It's not the same as what you're asking, but close enough.

he should have a 2 shot that he earns after the first, this second shot inflicts damage, people should choose to use it or use later or in another surv. would be 1000% better, he should earn this second shot after hitting a arpon.

OR maybe he should have a Double Harpoon weapon (maybe a rare addon?) The reload cooldown is too much, so it could be a reward not having the second cooldown.

  • @Accullla said:

Deathslinger can hit through windows too.

  • @Spooky13 said:

People are missing the point of the thread, well, partly at least I think. He's using Billy as an example as to why Deathslinger shouldn't be 110%. His power simply isn't strong enough to warrant it. Does this mean Billy should be 110%? Maybe, maybe not, that's mainly for the devs to decide. He isn't explicitly calling for Billy to be nerfed, but rather using Billy as an example as to why Deathslinger should be buffed, if I'm guessing correctly. I think the reason Deathslinger is 110% is because you can hit someone with the Redeemer, reel them and hit them, then reload and catch up to them pretty fast with 115%, shoot and down them again before they can run away fast enough.

    THANK YOU!!!!!

Was that so hard to understand?

Hag is insanely strong if played well. Luckily, you don't see many good hags. 3 gen hag is one of the easiest ways you can win in DBD in my opinion.

True. But still, 110% is too weak, 115% is too strong. I think they should do something like if there's a trap in, ley's say, 16 mt of her (like in that loop), she should move at 110% speed, or else she moves at 115%.

  • @Deadeye said:

@KornySon10 you don't need to pull someone off the balcony. Injured is injured. But instead of that, you can dodge the hit twice. Either by dodging the arrow or afterwards by breaking the chains.

@Coder 110%ms is ok if you have some map control tool, like teleporting with hag/nurse or the spirit phasing. Long range attacks are simply not good enough as you need LOS to make use of that :/

The only killer I'd say deserves 110% speed is Spirit and maybe huntress.

I don't think hag's or deathslinger's powers are that strong to justify 110%. Hillbilly's power is stronger than deathslinger and he's 115%.

  • Agree. His power is not THAT strong.

    Make hillbilly 110%.

Ghostface can't yeet people off of balconies and hills with a hook shot rifle. Sometimes things are more about fun than being min/max super viable SS+ killer gameplay.

Deathslinger can't grab people off gens even with monitor, or sneek up on them, mark them and insta-down them in 1 second. Each killer is strong in different situations. Also, the balcony argument is too situational, where you can sneek up on someone and instadown him with ghostface in most maps. You don't need a specific map and situation and a n00b survivor with no idea how to counter you (like... I dont know... go inside the house?) to make your killer work.

  • @Skelemania said:

Honestly, if they just change his walking speed, that alone would make him pretty good. Right now, he's so slow, he's pretty easy to loop. Like, he can't hookshot you through a rock. So you just run around a safe pallet all day & if he misses once, he then has to reload & it's a disaster.

I agree 100%. That's all he needs to be viable.

  • Guys, if you're going to play a stealth killer, just use ghostface. Don't give me the "16m TR" stealth argument, you can play hag, myers or any other killer if you want to play stealthy with monitor and abuse.

Also, forcing the use of one perk slot to make a killer viable is not a good design.

  • You're talking about too specific situations. In general gameplay, he has 1 "hatchet", you must hit or else you'll have a reload cooldown giving the survivor a chance to make distance, you must have no obstacles between them to make it count as a hit (except for windows) where with huntress it counts as a hit immediately.

Huntress has 5 hatchets, almost no cooldown if you miss, almost no cooldown if you hit... she's got a little more map pressure sniping people across the map... You might be better off playing huntress, I think she's better than him in 98% of the situations.

There’s a thread about NoED being fine and the amount of comments opposing NoED is ridiculous.

NoED activates after all generators are completed and can be countered by:

    • Cleansing Totems during Gameplay (5 total)
    • Cleansing the Hex Totem after generators are completed.
    • Run out of the Exit Gates before being Hit.

How exactly do you oppose a perk that is has a higher chance of being a wasted perk, especially at higher skilled gameplay?

It’s pretty much a wasted slot.

    Excuses:

    • It gives free kills
    • nobody wants to cleanse totems
    • it rewards failure

how does it give “free” kills?

whats so difficult about cleansing Totems? Oh, it extends your 5 minutes of gameplay and forces you to do something else.

    It rewards failure? Hmm? Doesn’t:

    • decisive strike? You got caught, caught again = failed
    • Adrenaline? you’re injured when gens are finished = failed but are rewarded a health slot
    • Unbreakable? You got downed, failed but here’s your pass to get up without help
    • Borrowed time? The killer spotted your teammate coming to rescue you, failed but here’s a free pass to get away
    • spine chill? oh, you don’t want to look at your surroundings, failed here’s a warning the killers otw
    • sprint burst? killers close, here’s Usain Bolts legs.
    • Dead hard? You’re injured, here’s a chance at lunging a football field forward to get you away.
    • Balanced Landing? Yeah, drop 30ft, no injury but a speed boost 😂
    • self-care? Teammates won’t heal you, here you can heal yourself with air!
    • Boil over? Yeah, you’re 1/4 the killers size but outmuscle them, sure.
    • Iron will? Hole through your chest, don’t worry you won’t make a sound.
    • Breakdown?
    • Deliverance?
    • Hope?
    • Inner strength?
    • Flip flop?

Literally of the 70+ survivor perks, the MAJORITY of them reward failure.

I'm not a survivor main to defend it, and sometimes as killer I hate Dead Hard and find it unfair, but if they remove Dead Hard, they have to remove Bloodlust. Bloodlust is a reward for not being able to catch the survivor. Look at this example, if I didn't have Dead Hard, she'd have catched me with Bloodlust 2. So Dead Hard is unfair, but bloodlust is too.

For a seconds she's like "Oh, cmon, that's unfair" but she didn't realize she was running at 5.0 m/s.

  • There are worst maps.

Ormond, the maps with strong windows (Ironworks, wretched shop, etc...). The Crottus Prenn Asylum main building is insanely strong if you know how to use it, I think they did a great job with the new maps (Lery's reworked, Hawkins, the badham rework, the layout of Yamaoka (except for the stupid plants and bamboo sticks).

Haddonfield is not that bad, except for certain killers, and it's strong for others (like trapper setting traps on the narrow corridors) and Oni (can't dodge him on corridors, you're dead man walking).

Of course, balanced+haddonfield is stupidly strong, that has to go somehow.

after the match they messaged "learn to play" because i killed myself on second hook. very cool we have these great teammates on solo q! :))

Dude, don't talk to me about solo q. I was just farmed in front of the killer by a claudette that then ragequitted, presumably because she thought it was the killer's fault for "camping" not for her not waiting 10 seconds for the killer to leave the hook.

Sometimes I scream out loud to my brain dead teammates, solo queue is frustrating.

The memento mori would be cool though.

  • All I have to say is that they've done a PRETTY GOOD JOB SO FAR. That fairly describes the state of the game, it has problems, but it's waaaay better than what it used to be.

As a software developer, I know that the user (in this case, the player) only focus on the bad things and take the good things for granted. So thanks for the state of the game now, but keep fixing, not only the bugs, but also balance issues and the 5-minutes-matches. Something has to be done ASAP please.

Let me start off with the fact that I am not a good killer. I suck at them but I like playing them. Recently, it seems I can only get Red Rank Survivors, most oftenly Rank 1 Survivors. I am Rank 10 as of right now, and I can barely play cause of this. I'm constantly getting rolled by whoever I play against no matter who I play as. I wish they'd fix this already, aren't survivors supposed to be at max 5 ranks above you? Is there any tips for how I should adapt to this?

Killer is fun, it's waaaay more fun than survivor. But it requires a lot more skill than playing survivor. It's true that if you're not really a good killer, you have to rely on NOED or something to have a little fun yourself, since gens go by insanely fast for a new killer.

He got 9k points in the whole match, he was doing terrible.

Not really, I mean, he was chasing people and he was bubba (very easy to loop), he just didn't seem like a baby killer. The problem is that the red ranks gen rushed him as hell, so if you last, let's say, a minute and a half on a chase, 2 gens go by. So, within the little time we gave him, we didn't notice if he was rank 5 or rank 13.

I've had the same matches against red rank killers, we gen rush, they do 3-5 hooks, a good survivor loops him enough and we all escape.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 11
