  • Add-ons make a killer more interesting.

    For example, Campbell's Last Breath.

  • No. I already know spawn locations. Lethal Pursuer is just another beginner perk.

Homestly, neither have I, but I myself was doing it a few days ago just to prove it was still possible. I really do think it's one of the few examples of something being so boring people actually stopped it.

    Probably.

I started to pick up killer mainly to do the tome challenges and to farm for BP when I'm done playing as survivor. But I have no idea how to let survivors know I wanna farm with them.

I know with ghostface to just teabag a lot and with hag & demo to use their traps/portals as a sign, but what for the other killers?

Any tips are welcome for this! And same goes for as survivor to let the killer know you wanna farm or befriend them.

Don't farm. It's boring to go against.

Because PH's mindless, cheap, easy playstyle still exists and is still very strong (only going for animation locked hits and otherwise faking your power and m1ing). Lots of PH players actually try and use skill in their trials because that gets boring very quickly, so it's very rare to encounter these days.

I think he's fine honestly. I haven't gone against this playstyle since they nerfed him.

  • Blight is the most fun killer here, and also the most powerful.

The same way Freddy and Spirit are, her effort isn't equal to her reward, except Nurse players are heaped with u fair and undue respect because most of them are just bullying bad players that can't do anything about it because there's always a weak link and then getting praise heaped on them.

Either the attitude towards Nurse has to change, or the attitude towards Deathslinger, Stridorless Spirit and Pyramid Head has to.

I respect Stridorless Spirit. Those are really fun games since I run IW, and it's an actual mindgame.

I hate Slinger, but I also don't think he takes no skill, I just think he's boring to go against.

Since when does anyone have an issue with PH?

    https://i.imgur.com/oxleGbV.png

This should just NOT be allowed. Actual convo with the first one, they think they were actually a good nurse player. Fun games btw /s (even though I actually escaped from the IF one)

Yeah that's really BS. Personally, I don't run slowdown besides Corrupt, which I think shouldn't be banned personally. Without it I will just not find anyone until three gens are done, and then I'll have to slug them all, and it's just not fun.

But other than Corrupt, every slowdown should be disabled on her, the way that the Moon Bouquets are disabled.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2248103#Comment_2248103

She changes the way you're used to playing, which is how every killer should work (in theory). They should all have different counters, to make the game significantly different if you're playing against different killers. In practice, nearly every killer can be countered by doing the same thing. The ones that aren't are complained about until they're nerfed into the ground, so that survivor gameplay remains unchanged.

Meanwhile, killer gameplay is boring as hell, because no matter which killer you choose (apart from the ones that survivors complain about), survivors are only ever going to do one thing, which counters you every single time.

Can you imagine if other games were like this? If, no matter which character you picked, no matter what their powers were, you'd be stuck doing the exact same thing if you were playing against/as any other character? Sounds boring.

This. Except for Spirit. You quite literally can't counterplay her.

  • @nursewannabe said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2248143#Comment_2248143

She should not be changed, she should be given huge perk limitations tho, in line with what i posted in that other thread

By perk limitations do you mean you can't run certain perks?

I'd be fine with that actually. Nurse shouldn't be able to run slowdown perks. Thats actually too much. So basically just disable all slowdown for her, right?

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2248147#Comment_2248147

No, actually, it's a lot more challenging than as Nurse. She's a killer that requires basic practice and then completely levels out for most opponent skill levels, then ramps back up for the best survivors.

Still though. How does that make her unbalanced? Are we just going to cater to bad survivors? If they have issues with heating Nurse then they need to get good.

  • @yeet said:

nurse is easily one of the most balanced killers in the game

    This too.

  • @Kirkylad said:

The same reason we excuse SWF.

Funny thing is if you talk about SWF you'll be met with the response of not everyone who plays SWF is that good so it's not fair to nerf them, however if you put that same argument saying not everyone who plays spirit or nurse is that good people don't seem to agree with that logic. Double standards are quite amusing sometimes.

    Exactly this.

When the only game mode aside from custom lobbies are ranked matches, balance matters.

This isn't a competitive game, so no it doesn't.

  • @MadLordJack said:

People excuse Nurse because they're arrogant and convinced she's harder than she really is. In reality, you don't need to be a god Nurse to steamroll nearly every team you go against, because on NA and EU servers most teams are shite even on peak hours and will be caught by basic knowledge of blinking and reasonable accuracy.

So what? You can win with any other killer easily against these teams as well.

  • @Shooby said:

A rock bottom skill floor with a near game-breaking skill ceiling is bad game balance and bad game design. That's really not debatable.

I understand that Nurse players have been honing in their craft for years and changing the way she plays would really screw Nurse mains over, but why is this allowed to go on when it's a seemingly glaring issue with balance?

As a Nurse main, she's fine. She has the highest skill cap in the game to the point that the only way a Nurse can win is if she outskills the team. It's not a Spirit situation.

It's not a "glaring issue with balance" at all. In fact, I'd argue that she's the most balanced killer in the game, as she's only as good as the person playing her.

I get that she isn't fun to go against for most, but she still has counters, so I don't see an issue.

Also, they won't change Nurse. They know there would be huge backlash from the community. Every Nurse main would likely quit or switch to survivor, adding to the queue times that are already far too long. Every influential content creator would be pissed too, which will REALLY hurt the game in the long run, as most people join because of content creators. Ayrun, Ussylis, Ardetha, Rayoxium, Umbra, etc., some of the most influential content creators, would be talking about it in their videos, and this might drive new players away. The latter three might quit. Well, probably not Umbra, but Ardetha and Rayoxium might.

Not to mention the fact that changing Nurse is just a massive ######### YOU to anyone who bothered learning her.

They literally can't change her without an extremely unfavorable outcome for them, so they won't change her. You might as well not even ask because they won't change her. BHVR might be stupid, but they're not THAT stupid.

    You have to be creative.

The killers you mentioned have ranged damage, they don't need to catch up with the survivor; they only need to get in range. Even with the survivor being 110% — staying out of line of sight is still difficult, especially if you're using mindgames to flush them out.

I'm not by any means pushing for a 10% movespeed Hope buff, just making the point that 110% killers can still catch survivors if it were to happen. If we were to buff Hope, I would just make the speed boost permanent.

You CAN mindgame, but a good survivor will infinite you if they don't fall for it.

    A warning would've been nice.

True. But they didn't know either 🤣

They only dropped it because everyone complained about the price the second the event started.

  • @Superyoshiegg said:

Meaning the two outfits I bought before the discount cost 43,200 shards (21,600 each) instead the 18,000 the next day (9,000 each). Calculate the difference, and I got yammed out of 25,200.

When designing any given killer in a game like DbD there's ought to be an element that allows survivors to counter (NOT completely negate) their strengths:

In some games it's talking quietly, in others it's not running, etc.

If you look at the DbD killer's powers on paper, these counters are there. The issue is that there are perks that completely negate the weakness, thus taking away the possible counter.

Spirit's on paper weakness is that she can't see survivors while phasing, only scratchmarks, moving grass etc. This makes the on paper counter to be quiet around her.

But Stridor negates this. (Also a lot of survivors simply refuse to change their loud, rushing playstyle, but that's a different topic)

Bubba is pretty loud and remotely clunky, which should give people the time to scatter and hide... Insidious takes this counter away.

Deathslinger and Myers are killers where you ought to break the LoS as soon as you hear their TR... hard to do when they're running M&A.

These are the four biggest examples.

Thus: Should killers be barred from using perks that completely negate their on-paper weakness?

No. You should be able to run what you want.

Especially since some of those perks are pretty much useless on other killers.

Everyone camps from time to time if the situation calls for it or forces it.

The situation will never call for it with Hag.

That's entirely fair. There's so many perks but so few slots. I'm running Technician now because it always summons a Meg to help me clear generators faster in the same way that Deliverance summons the killer. This game is cheeky like that.

OP you're opening exit gates properly btw. Without buff perks that's the only way to escape an end game collapse.

Lolol got me there. Wake up is a really good perk. Having a killer walking towards you menacingly when you're trying to unlock a door is the worst because there's never any good loops nearby. Bleh.

I mean, he could rev around pretty much any pallet and keep it at 95% forever untill the survivor made a mistake. Which was on most loops merely 5 seconds at best. Considering people dont have access to dead hard unless they were injured, there was nothing you could do.

Considering killer mains are always about "fairness in looping", there shouldnt ever be a position in a loop where you're essentially powerless against any killer. There should always be counterplay. It goes both ways.

I wanted Billy to have his infinite zoning removed, for the same reason I want Spirit to no longer have scratchmarks while she phases, the same reason I want Nurse to only have access to one blink(increased distance ofcourse), the same reason I want Deathslinger to have a slight cooldown AFTER aiming where he cant aim, same reason I want Old Freddy with some of the new mechanics back over current Freddy, same reason I want Bubba to have 1 stack less than he currently has(he can hit the same person twice in 2 stacks with ease, he can outrun Sprintburst in about 1.6 stacks and hit someone with BT in 1.8 stacks, plenty of room), same reason I want survivors to get a penalty on progression if they work on more than 2 gens at the same time, same reason I want there to be a lever in the game that works like the exit gate lever but instead turns an otherwise deadzone into a loopable region, which the killer can turn off in the same way he can open an exit gate and turn it back into a deadzone.

You dont want infinite zoning in a game that wants to let it's players loop.

Nurse only having one blink would kill her, regardless of distance.

I just cannot say its a good perk. Me and my mates take the mick out of it when we see it in the bloodweb lol.

I've ran it quite a few times and it really didn't have that much effect? In chase it did..well nothing. You're essentially going from 4.0 to 4.28, which seems good. But in gameplay it really is just not noticeable.

It is though. You can infinite killers that are 4.4, and you can run 4.6 killers for much longer than normal. If you're playing efficiently, you'll notice it.

I've been digging around the Wiki and I hope I've got the full list of currently exclusive pieces of content.

    (As of June 5th, 2021)

Halloween Events (All Hallows' Eve, The Hallowed Blight, The Withering Blight, The Eternal Blight):

Will O' Wisp [?], All Hallows' Eve Lunchbox [?]

I haven't been able to confirms items, add-ons & offerings yet. I'd love if somebody who has played for a long time would be able to confirm. Basically, these items, despite returning for subsequent Halloween events might be exclusive because they might show the Event Tag as 'All Hallow's Eve, The Hallowed Blight, The Withering Blight or The Eternal Blight'. While 99.9999999999% of people wouldn't care, or even notice, personally I do.

    Winter Solstice {2017, 2018)

    Winter Party Starter [?] {I was going to add the handful of Survivor Christmas sweaters, but it seems despite not being given away like most old "exclusive" items they were put in the In-game Store}

I haven't been able to confirms items, add-ons & offerings yet. I'd love if somebody who has played for a long time would be able to confirm. Basically, these items, despite returning for the subsequent Winter Solstice event might be exclusive because they might show the Event Tag as 'Winter Solstice 2017 or 2018'. While 99.9999999999% of people wouldn't care, or even notice, personally I do.

    Howling Grounds (2018)

Hound (Huntress), Untamed Donkey Jacket (David), Red Evelope (Offering)[?]

I haven't been able to confirms items, add-ons & offerings yet. I'd love if somebody who has played for a long time would be able to confirm. Basically, these items, despite returning for the subsequent Winter Solstice event might be exclusive because they might show the Event Tag as 'Chinese New Year, Howling Grounds, Moonrise, or Scarlet Swarm'. While 99.9999999999% of people wouldn't care, or even notice, personally I do. The two cosmetics definitely seem to be exclusive.

    Scorching Summer BBQ

BBQ Invitation, Pro-Pain Hammer (Hillbilly), Free Song Bird Slip Dress (Kate)

The BBQ Invitation has only shown up during this event, so I'd easily say it's exclusive. The two cosmetics also seem to be exclusive.

Fruitcake (Charm), CrowDwight (Charm), Twitch shirt, H20Delerious Mask, McQuaid, Diatech (Nea shirt), Fog Whisperer (Charm)

    Legacy

Hopefully I formatted this is an easy to read way and included accurate information. If not I'll edit it (assuming you can edit on these forums). Personally (and I know I'm in the majority) but I care moreso for the items, add-ons & offerings as I would hate if they would be tagged as a specific event rather than the encompassing Halloween, Lunar New Year, etc.

No to the howling grounds. We got those for free a while ago, even if we didn't play during that time.

"You need to know when to use it" Ah, just like DH. "and how to 99 it" ah yes, that 0.1 second difference of walking. It's not that much extra skill, honestly.

You use DH when you can't make a pallet drop or vault. No skill requirements at all.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2246634#Comment_2246634

Then how is sprintburst never complained about? Even though its almost as common as Dead Hard? It's also just the press of 1 button, it doesnt require skill other than timing, just like DH.

Sprint Burst requires far more skill. You need to know when to use it, and how to 99% it. With DH, you press a button for free distance.

SB isn't complained about because it's not as in your face as DH is.

  • @DwarvenTavern said:

The trend is just hate against the Deathslinger.

"He's miserable to play against, annoying, boring, etc."

I find it really enjoyable to go up against a Deathslinger and play as him.

But, the main thing is about going up against them, so I'm a rank 6 survivor at the moment, it's not red ranks, but I think that's still a decent level to talk about this killer with some experience. I can loop perfectly fine, I know the best routes to take, how to counter most killer's powers, all that good stuff. Plus, in addition. I am also a killer main that has pumped a lot of time into each killer so I also know how they feel and act.

But, on youtube, I just see so much hate against Deathslinger because he's "miserable" to play against. Which... is why? Because of how fast the projectile is? I suppose that's a fair reason, but he also fundamentally changes how survivors should run loops and the likes. I only find one other killer who can do that on a fundamental level such as him and that's Nurse. Excluding things that make a loop null, such as Trapper. Slow down killers could technically be on list as well, but it's a showdown while Deathslinger completely forces you to rethink loops.

Personally, I think the most boring and miserable killer to go up against is Spirit. She's obnoxious. I'm not turning this into a "I hate Spirit, so let's nerf her" post. I'm just said that Spirit feels much more boring to play as and go up against.

Especially with her just standing still at a loop and "mind game" a survivor to run away from a safe loop or run towards her or challenge it.

I dunno, personally that's just me, but I love going up against a good Deathslinger. What about you?

I hate Slinger. There is quite literally no counterplay.

And this is coming from someone who's favorite killer to go against is Nurse.

  • @RiskyKara said:

I tried to edit the OP to make it more easily readable. I took some liberties so it was paraphrased instead of a direct quote.

    • "Please fix Dead Hard and not Linger for 2 Months. Killer and Survivor nerfs need equality!

It's ridiculous to press Dead Hard when perfectly timed with the Killers attack and still end up on the ground while acquiring the 'Exhausted' Debuff. I feel like if you press that button whenever the Killer swings at you it should be a miss, simple as that. It absolutely needs to be fixed when a Killer swings through the Dead Hard and still manage to get hit during the animation, or even before the animation fully starts up. Once you end up dead on the ground you still get the exhausted debuff which shows somewhere the system registered it. This needs to be fixed.

I find the double standard crazy that when a Survivor gets a bug that works against them such as the vacuum pallets and unstunnable killers (Where it's basically coup de grace without equipping it) it didn't get fixed for weeks. However, if you let a survivor get a bug where they can't get hit during a vault animation the (Killer) tears that come from that will be fixed within a single day.

Please devs, I'm begging you make it fair and make it have sense.

Before you attack me Killer mains I want you to know I have exactly zero sympathy for you. I am a survivor main through and through and never touch killer unless there's a ritual yet I'm still a rank 2 killer somehow. I've never touched a killer's blood web nor leveled them and I can still destroy red ranks and SWF murder squads with one Tier 1 Perk and no addons no matter what killer ritual I end up with. Killer's get a power, 4 perks and add-ons to get a 4k if they understand the bare basics of how to play and a little bit of meta knowledge.

I can do all that with zero perks and my galaxy brain.

'But SuRvIVOrS are s0000 op" (Killers would argue) and (killers I think?) will shed tears whenever we (Killer mains? Not including the OP I think. They implied Killer mains but said we so I'm trying to parse that.) get nerfed or get bugs that cripple us for weeks on end. (I really couldn't figure out this sentence.)

Make the nerfs make sense, we need equality in urgency of patches and nerfs.

Shoutout to the community and killer mains I still have mad love for you ♥"

    ----

No bully intended, but I tried to make it more readable. I like to write a lot and I was in an editing mood.

You mean like how the breakdown bug lasted for weeks?

I'd be fine if DH could only dodge hits, and didn't give distance. DH for distance shouldn't be a thing.

  • @Predated said:

I mean, Billy was redesigned to fit the current meta better, the only issue Billy had, was infinite zoning without a downside(they still didnt address Deathslinger having that tho, so there's that).

But in terms of DH? Nah, not really an issue. The game has been balanced for years with Dead Hard in mind. Killer Lunges were increased because of Dead Hard, momentum was removed after using Dead Hard(so no dead harding into windows for a fast vault).

My biggest argument against DH haters is: Sprintburst is better in every possible way. The only thing Dead Hard can do better than Sprintburst, is avoiding damage mid-air. Anything else, Sprintburst can do better. More distance, more baited swings, longer chases, less pallets being dropped, the list goes on and on. You're mad at Dead Hard even though it's objectively worse than Sprintburst. Sprintburst doesnt leave you exhausted on the floor either.

Yes, Sprint Burst is better, but DH for distance is still OP.

  • They'd have to nerf everything.

Almost all killers, every exhaustion perk, every perk like PTS would be nerfed.

This would take YEARS, and it still would be awfully balanced. And queue times are already too long. You want to split them in two?

    This is a dumb idea.

And on a side note, this game isn't even CLOSE to a competitive game.
