I sometimes cry at night when I remember some of us will never experience the level of love and devotion Old Freddy and GeneralV have.
-
At some point you have to realize you're being baited, or that you're simply arguing with someone that lacks the capacity or will to comprehend a very simple concept.
I'd say you guys have reached that point about three pages ago.

The only hot take is that this isn't a hot take at all.

I've not met more entitled Survivors on Pinhead than any other Killer, no.

It's been a long time (I don't think I've seen the second movie since its original release), but I remember Kit Harington not being very good, either. Besides GoT, I think my favorite performance of his was 7 Days in Hell. A dumb movie, but funny. He's not necessarily the most ranged actor. He usually looks lost and confused, but it works in GoT for Jon Snow. lol
Unfortunately, in Silent Hill: Revelation, you end up with a character like Harington's (Vincent) for a few reasons. For one, they need someone to deliver exposition. (I think he was also the one who sets her on her path, right? It's a standard quest story trope to have a character who points the way for the hero.) For another, there are going to be scenes where it helps to have another character for the main character to talk to and play off of. The audience doesn't know Heather, so Vincent getting to know Heather is a way for the audience to get to know Heather as well. (It's an easy, lazy way to do that.) The writing for that movie was absolute crap, and they did a terrible job with pretty much everything, including (especially?) Vincent.
Edit: Sorry if that was a redundant question. I'm a recluse who enjoys reading and likes understanding how story-telling/narrative works. I can't help but take advantage of an opportunity to rip a bad story apart.
I've actually recently watched both of the movies, because I forgot just how awful the second one was. And yeah, you're right. He's that one student at her school that actually talks to her, pretends to be another outsider, then suddenly unloads on her that it was his task to bring her back, but now he feels bad about it so they do a redemption arc to ensure the audience remains emotionally invested.
Also I have to mention that Pyramid Head fight scene, it's genuinely the worst thing I've ever seen in any horror movie.

Valtiel is an angel of the silent hill god it just watch her becuz she have the soul of the god.
Yes, but I didn't feel like it was necessary to go through several paragraphs of lore, hence why I called it a great simplification.
-
His gimmicks were stealth and quickscoping. I understand why the ADS nerf was needed, but with a 32 meter terror radius and nothing of value given back to him in return, I just don't see the reason to play him over a Huntress.
-
MMR makes no sense in a game where Perks/Killer Tiers/SWFs/Fat medkits and toolboxes have THIS much of an impact. That's like reaching Big Gamer rank in some shooter game, but one team would randomly spawn with pistols.

Will say though, crazy just how much lore there is in Silent Hill. Such good games.

From Silent Hill 3...this looks like Pyramid head to me.
The monster that stalks her during Silent Hill 3 is Valtiel. Similar, but not the same. If I simplify things greatly, he is to Heather what Pyramid Head is to James.
-
@JexxTron said:
I think Maria is the ghost of James wife.
A ghost perhaps, but more importantly, spoiler alert, she is a manifestation of Silent Hill, she is the beautiful lie that James needs to refuse in order for him to accept what he has done. Naturally, there's many theories as to what she actually is, but they all toy with the fact that she is some sort of temptation or a physical manifestation of one's wish to avoid repercussions, while Pyramid Head is the inevitable punishment.
-
Wouldn't actually playing the games make you expect that interaction less, since Pyramid Head's main purpose is to ensure James accepts the painful truth behind his Wife's death, while ensuring Maria doesn't succeed?

Not a PVP related issue. No one gets nervous playing Fortnite even though it's PVP as well yet I've seen many people say they can't play killer in DBD as it makes them feel anxious and stressed.
It's probably the assymetrical 4v1 aspect of the game which makes the killer player sort of stand in a spotlight like you're running a show making you feel like you have to perform well otherwise you'll look like you're on stage after losing your trousers.
That's why you gotta enter the stage fully naked every single time.
-
The Devs find two escapes a desirable outcome.
MMR enforces a desirable outcome defined by the Devs.
If you consider two Kills a defeat, you'll lose more games the more balanced DBD becomes.
Throw in the ever growing gap between SoloQ and SWF and nobody's having a good time.
-
Personally, I find it hilarious that Devs advertised the Boon totems as this strategic decision Survivors will need to make in order to make them work, meanwhile they're a huge AoE effect that's always good, can always be used again after being cleansed and worse than that, all of this is even stronger for SWF, so SoloQ suffers again.
Also, the last thing Killers need is yet another objective to worry about.

I don't know what you are talking about. Because in case someone DC's or suicides, I give survivors a break and let them do gens while occasionally chasing for BPs for both sides. It's a huge pain when you have to deal with disconnects, as well as a waste of time, so I get warm words from survivors in the end char who were not only able to get points, but also escape.
That's good to hear, though there's a lot of Survivors that'll be genuinely upset you didn't play normally, which is something that's actually reportable. On the other hand, pretending everything's "normal" and maybe letting them finish the last gen and get out if things get that far is more likely to please everyone.
-
You'll be told that you're the worst human being on the planet regardless. From my experience, being on both ends of this, the best solution is to play normally, but ensure you two hook everyone before you start going for the kills, unless both you and the Survivors display a strong desire to be friendly and everyone's okay with it.
-
I'll save everyone some time.
"But why do Killers run the same exact builds? Did you ask yourself that?"
"Because otherwise gens fly in 3 minutes and it isn't fun."
"Well, the reason Survivors run the same builds, is because Killers can camp them otherwise."
"Hey guys, stop arguing, people are allowed to play with what they want."
"Hey guys, I've not touched this game for 10 years, but let me give you my opinion on the current meta, which actually hasn't changed."
There, I think that's most of it.
-

So if I'm climbing MMR, how do I get games like the one in my post where everyone was dead at 5 gens? Why am I getting teammates running meme builds against killers with the strongest possible thing they can run?
Because they've done a pretty good job so far.

Right, and every survivor game I play it's the same 5 killer perks over and over again as well. I don't see your point to be honest.
The point is that complaining about perks ruining your experience is close to pointless, given the fact that you are going to see them, them being meta perks that carry players, no matter what side you're on once you start climbing MMR. Everyone's experience is made worse by that fact. DBD is just not a competitive game.
-
I'll agree that SoloQ is suffering, but MMR has a lot to do with it also it seems. For example, I don't consider myself an amazing Survivor and on top of that I rarely run meta perks. Which means most of the Survivors in my Survivor games look like this:
(Yes I was doing a sabo Archive)
On the other hand, I can't queue up as a Killer without seeing something like this:
Every single game, no matter what Killer I play, it's three of those four perks on every single Survivor, with that one exception here and there.
-
On top of that, it would eliminate the assumption that every lobby with decent Survivors in it is a SWF. A lot of Killers seem to think that the only time they have a bad time, it's due to SWF and a lot of Survivors argue that not all groups of friends actively tryhard, just like that we could solve the issue.

Yeah, this game's community is pretty notoriously toxic, which makes it a bit hard to recommend to others.
To be fair though, I see way more BM from survivors than killers, both in game and post game. If you don't want me to tunnel you down, don't click me or teabag me - because if you want my attention, I'll give it to you.
That said, yeah, this game is in serious need of a jerk purge.

GGEZ or some variant is one of the most poisonous things you can say after a game. A bad loser is understandable. A bad winner is just a colossal bag of butts.
I don't know man, I can't go three games as a Killer without someone wishing cancer on my family or absolutely losing their ######### because I didn't run to the opposite side of the map after every hook, so I really ain't so sure if "GGEZ" is worthy of a thread, given the fact this forum would end up being nothing but Killer mains posting screenshots of every other lobby.
Again, I'm not saying that Survivors can't experience toxicity, or that "GGEZ" isn't lame, but this game has a far bigger issue when it comes to post game bullying.
-
That's it? That's all?
-
As far as I'm concerned, when it comes to the pure definition of it, the Survivors still had the ability to repair all generators and leave, meaning you weren't holding the game hostage. If you were to block all four of them then yeah, I can see how that would be bannable. I'm really interested to see what Mods have to say.
-
Sadly, he's one of the Killers that were made fun to play against, but not to play as. And yes, you can still make some insane plays, but they mostly rely on Survivors being ignorant/cocky/not expecting them, at least from a personal experience.
-
This bump is an act of public service, given how much effort has been put into this post.
... Or maybe I came back here to look at cute animals. We'll never know.

No it doesn’t and it’s ridiculous to even imply that. The action of t-bagging is a derogatory action, and everyone knows what it means. It’s an insult, through and through and by the very nature of insults, it is toxic.
It would still be toxic irregardless of how the killer responds to it. You can claim whatever you want, we all know why it is done, and it isn’t to make the killer feel good. It’s to be toxic and either aggravate the killer or to laugh at the killer from the safety of the exit gates.
Crazy that this still needs to be explained. Just because something doesn't annoy you or hurt your feelings, doesn't mean that the action isn't meant to be foul to begin with, it just means you've adjusted to it. I really wonder if people who peddle that opinion are genuinely incapable of comprehending such a simple concept, or if they're just trying to cope.
-
The game and thus the MMR are balanced around two Kills, you're meant to lose. Your experience sucks and it must've been incredibly frustrating, but you can't take it personally.
-
I don't know what Survivors you're playing against, but I have more issues with NOT hitting the unhooked Survivor, because they genuinely think I am incapable of counting to 12. And I'm not even joking.
-
My only issue is that we're reaching a strange balancing point, where Killers need to put in the time, practise their powers, while Survivors get all their solutions and counterplay served on a silver platter. And this is largely due to the fact Survivors can really only vault, run and drop pallets, so I suppose it's a design issue, but an issue regardless.
And yes, Spirit needed the nerf, but I'm not sure if this is it. Take Deathslinger who was nerfed mainly due to being "unfun to verse", without being given anything in return to ensure he's actually fun to play to begin with. While acceptable this time, the direction of these two nerfs concerns me.
-
Because DBD attracts people who couldn't make it in an actual competitive game, so they have to resort to this in order to ensure they get that real gamer feel.
-

It gives me all the emotional strength I need.

I don't think you're disrespecting my opinion but I'm curious about why you think that :)
Because not only is it statistically unlikely, but it is also the oldest cope in the book. Anytime Survivors display any level of game sense, Killers seem to assume they're facing one of these SWF DEATH SQUADS.
I think it'd be great if we could see who's in party with who, not only would that allow Killers to prepare, yes for some that would mean lobby dodge, but it will also dispel this myth of all good solo players being in a squad at all times.
-
Sorry for "not respecting your opinion", but you're not playing against "sweaty SWF squads" only every single game.

Not to mention than if a surv is good on chase and killer is aware of that, he probably won't even try a chase and wait for him to be on a deadzone or a vulnerable situation.
Game don't encourage sweat and good chases. Camp tunnel is much more rewarding.
That's another thing, skill isn't truly rewarded. I've often seen, what clearly was, the best player in the team die, just because the team screwed them over, be it by unhooking them in the Killer's face without BT, or by wasting all the pallets. But at the same time, the skill of a Survivor can never TRULY matter, because they ought to be doomed to go down as @NekoTorvic pointed out. Uncapping BPs for chases, while giving extra points for being camped is a band-aid solution I've seen suggested many times, yet that doesn't truly deal with the greater issue - The frustration that both parties are going to experience one way or another.
-
Tired of losing?
Just lose on purpose instead.
