For me, since I suck at playing a killer, sometimes be difficult to even hit the survivor when theyre circling around in maps like coldwind farm. But ususally killers are toxic tbh and salty , im sorry
Just remember toxicity is on the individual not the particular side they play.

I find it difficult to play as a killer so I dont really bother but sometimes I just cant get it why dudes be camping and tunneling around one survivor :/
Most of the time it's cause they lack confidence to win chases and hook survivors.
But with good loopers and constant gen work tunneling will actually lose them the game.
Some do it for the salt.

Survivors have been begging (Especially baby ones) for a Ruin nerf since it came out. They finally got it. Now they can reap what they sow.
Do you brother, but no one expected this nerf. Sounds fun just standing in the corner. Enjoy your 15000 pts.

I am just gonna insidious bubba in protest. Been saving up fast saw add-ons.
Insidious, whispers, NOED, and BBQ. You took my ruin, I take your fun.
Survivors didn't take your ruin dude. Devs made the changes. Most high ranks didn't even ask for it.
Throw a tantrum if you want but don't hide behind the fallacy of " oh they did this to mean. I will now do this to them."
-
Yeah fungoose is the best in my opinion. Check him out. He is a killer main but does play a lot of survivor as well. Plays a mean demo
-
Yeah I still believe they are going for a 1k average. Survivors tend to bring more friends to the game as they can SWF.
Killers probably don't entice as many friends to join the game because killer is solo. As such they will cater to survivors in hopes that more escape and less ruin will grow the base.
But changing gen times is silly. No one wants to sit on gennys any longer. And ruin already increased gen times and they got rid of that.
As more killers learn to accept and are conditioned that 1 to 2 ks a game is alright the 4k = a win meta mentality will fade away. And I believe the game will evolve to killer kicks gennys, hooks some survivors and chases and then most get out and killer can pip.

That happened a couple of times when I was playing with my friend. It was annoying bc the killer didn't really care about others until the one dude he was chasing is dead so he can move on to the next one. I personally dont like it bc it does ruin the fun sometimes when you get killed literally in the first 5 minutes of the game.
Yeah I can't stand tunneling and camping killers. They always go for the weakest link, like they're already trying to learn the game and your just going tunnel them out of the game in 5 minutes because you can't catch anyone else.
And I have been a killer for seven devotions on PS4 so I understand the challenge. Killer is extremely difficult, especially at high ranks. But playing as fair as possible has yielded most of my survivor friends from mutual respect on post game chats.
-
Face camping can't be punished anymore than it already is. It requires no skill and you will only be punishing yourself in the long run because you won't get any better as a killer without challenging yourself.
However it is not breaking the rules of the game. But it is ego driven or done for salt. If you need to resort to this tactic you are probably struggling to find and catch survivors. And perhaps can't accept defeat. But you will only pip so much with this style of play and will never be an optimal killer.
-
We can call it a "legitimate strategy " but is so unfun for all involved. If your losing that badly as a killer keep trying to catch them and apply pressure so you at least get better.
Face camping because your losing is just to feed your ego. Keep trying and you will get better. Relying on face camping may get you a couple of kills but your own skills won't improve.
-
GF and the chainsaw brothers. For some reason the 1 hit downs always get me. And that Damn GF always gets close before I get into chase.
-
######### is that. Now that is unfair bs. That needs fixing because fun does go both ways, and I can't imagine that was fun.
-
Getting a vote up on the Forums!!
-
I rather see toolboxes just go. I don't think anyone wants to sit on the gennys any longer than necessary. It is perhaps the most boring part of the game. Increasing gen times makes no sense if you chose to Nerf ruin. Ruin already did that. If your going to increase gen times newer survivors are just going to get caught and have no fun anyway.

Spirit original body. School girl head. New serum/blight sword.
Feng prestige 1 shirt and yellow and black shorts.
Bill new sweater.
Claudette double prestige outfit.
Meg original outfit.
Clown new blight outfit.
-
Remember it still goes both ways. I was a killer main for the longest time and have recently switched to survivor. I wish both sides would play the other side for awhile and then we may be able to have games that are more "fun".
Both sides can be toxic or use unfun tactics. I never tbag the killer because I have been on the other side of it for so long. But I now I don't tunnel, have never camped and try to be fair because I can see how unfun those tactics are since playing survivor.
But I still feel killers have been conditioned by the language and pipping conditions to expect at least 3ks to feel like a win. As a survivor escaping feels like a win. However I can die knowing that I pipped and helped my team escape and feel like I won.
-
You do you brother, but I myself don't use ruin. I win plenty as a killer without it and I still see it as a crutch perk. If I get my butt kicked I'll just open the exit gates and let them out.
-
I think the biggest advantage of old ruin was it prevented stacking on gennys. It was better to solo gennys with ruin because 2 people missing greats caused a greater regression.
-
I have to agree that as killers we are conditioned very early on that 2ks is not a win. And like mouse0270 stated killers should not depip because there was no chance for more hook actions if people killed themselves on first hook.
-
@Cetren said:
I can be happy with a 2k if it was a fun game for both sides. Unfortunately, that needs to involve a lot of chases, less loops, and more time to actually play and enjoy the game, which just doesn't happen with how the game is set up right now.
I can agree with this. I am hopeful the ruin nerf is the first step towards figuring a way to balance gen speeds with game length. Because I think it is the internal clock in our heads that may force some "unfun" tactics as we know gens are being worked on every second we are in chase, or hooking someone, or being stunned etc..
-
I think this will be the first step In figuring out gen speeds as well toolboxes. We just need to have a baseline without ruin at all ranks. Than changes can be made to figure out how to balance around that.
-
Pop, thrilling tremors, discordance, and sloppy on spirit , dont care about addons. Maybe the slippers to be faster but doesn't matter.
Discordance, pop , thrilling and nurse's on freddy.
My survivor build, iron will, bt, windows of opportunity, cause I suck at looping, and sprint burst, kindred, or empathy. And ofcourse my lucky medkit .

Lmao I see your indirect attack at me.
i didn’t camp and it’s not problem if I come back to the hook that a survivor is removed from only for the healthy survivor to SB away. Why waste my time on them? I go for the closest. Not my problem.
Gold and Iridescent Chaser emblems aren’t awarded if you camp. Tunneling is part of the game.
I apologize if it came out as if I was attacking you. Not my intention.
And as I stated before, I understand why people tunnel, it is effective. However it completely sucks for said survivor being tunneled.
I have been a very ruthless killer in the past. Just now that I play survivor I try to be more understanding of the survivor's experience. It helps that I no longer care about rank as a killer. When pipping is fixed for killers we may see people more willing to embrace "funner" tactics.
-
Yeah there's toxicity on both sides. It's from the individual not the side they chose to play.
I always send gg to the killer after a game as survivor. Maybe because I played killer so long and can sympathize with the struggle.
Unless ofcourse their tunneling noobs than no gg for you.
As a killer I don't tunnel, nor camp so I don't get nasty messages

That is true. The ranking system needs a rework so deranked SWF aren't bullying the poor new players.
Or deranked killers bullying new survivors. It goes both ways. I've seen rank 19 killers with tier 3 ruin and bbq and pop.

I had the opposite reaction I went from a solo survivor to a killer and I don't really feel bad for them since bad teammates is the biggest problem and you can't really change it not to mention the tons of safety nets they have
I can understand that. If I was survivor first than killer I could see taking on that mindset and fully embracing killer. I have in the past.
I went from killer to survivor so I have so much to learn from that side. As well I have played killer enough to appreciate the skill of the top survivors. I want to be that good and have a team that good.
But I can understand being a brutal killer. Just please have mercy on us weak loopers.

In my opinion this is probably one of the most broken aspects of the game, I was I believe rank 5 or so when I stopped playing in either September or October for a break
I'm now rank 17, and being matched up against completely new players. This is a massive problem for me. If I play to win I am going to absolutely ruin their experience and time, but if I don't play to win I'll be stuck in the grey ranks for bloody ever!
So I have to choose between slow progression or rapid progression so more new players don't have to get pit against someone with more experience then them
The best I can do is just play silly joke builds while playing to win to try make things easier for them
It sux and I seem to run into these folks all the time.
My advice as a killer that has also deranked due to not playing. Play perkless or with just 1 perk. That's what I do. No addons because you know you have more experience.
Can't tell you how many killers I run into that have tier 3 ruin and bbq, pop, overcharge and say " just haven't played in awhile.
Then dont bring your OP stuff. Mellow and learn to play your killer with nothing.
-
I always use it. If I play swf and make a mistake I dont want my teammates to pay for it.
Also to the camper at end game this perk is op!
-
Spirit and Freddy,
Although recently I have been playing Clown and LF for the fun of trying newer killers and not sweating so hard.
Also I love legion, regardless of being weak or not, I enjoy playing them.
-
Yes, i love pop. It has been my go to gen slow down perk for a while.
-
No, I would probably miss the skill check. Although did use it a few times when leveling up Bill and had no perks. It saved me at end game when I was tunneled off the hook, forgot I had it , heard the skill check some how picked up my controller in time and hit it. Then I had hope and ran across the map and out the door.
That was a cool moment, put still I don't use it if I have all my perks on a character.

Yes, and this egocentric mindset is the problem, but at least you are being honest, kudos for that.
The problem with the emblem system that some people mention here is real and DEVs must rework it for killers, so they are better rewarded even if they didn't 3k-4k. But the problem with low survival rate is just as bad for survivors and must be addressed too. 30%-35% escape rate on average is just not acceptable.
I agree totally with this. Survival rate is way to low. I know we don't know how those kill rates are achieved, but it doesn't really matter to the survivor. If i didn't get out it doesn't feel as good as when I do.
I think your right with the emblem system as well. It promotes the view of 4king for the killer as a win condition. Hopefully we can find a middle ground and rework this emblem system so it won't feel like a loss if 2 people get out on average.
-
It is hard not go for 4ks when you are a killer. It takes a lot to switch your mindset away from seeing less than 3ks as a win. Even if you hooked everyone twice. And for the longest time even 3ks felt like a loss to me, I wanted that 4k.
But if the emblem system was changed to award killers for other actions then it may be easier but I doubt it. Killers want those kills.
Only reason I was able to switch my mindset was because I have been focusing on survivor and can sympathize with them more now.
But I still have to fight my ego when I play killer to not go all tryhard and kill them. But if I feel the survivors are trying to bully me and being cocky in their actions. I will go all out for the 4ks.
-
As a killer if i have completely stomped my opponents I will just go AFK and let last two finish gennys than I will open the exit doors and go in a corner. This happens more now that I don't play killer often anymore and have lost rank with last few resets so I am often better than survivors.
If they are smurfs tho, I will destroy them.
As survivor I just open exit gates and get out. If there is a chest nearby I may search it but other than that I am out.

Tbh I noticed the exact opposite.
If I play fair they abuse your "kindness". When survs see you dont tunnel and leave the hook they start unhooking right in your back, heal under the hook and get back to the gens. I dont even know how you can play a killer fair and less sweaty :D
I dont see a problem with tunneling. But I can understand the frustration. I usually play solo or 2 man squad at R1. And if you get good mates everyone works together to keep the others alive. I almost enjoy tunneling and camping because its more challenging to overcome this as a team. If I get camped or tunneled right out of the game and I depip, I just do a second game and pip because its fking easy :D
That is awesome for you. I am new to survivor but I got 7 devotions as a killer main. I am the weak link when it comes to looping so I guess that is why is is so frustrating to me.
A killer can only play less sweaty if you stop caring about rank, which I did when I switched to survivor. Or stop seeing only 4k as a win. Which I admit is hard to do when you have been killer for so long.
I just noticed I got to the point where anything less than 4k I considered a loss. Then I wanted to get as good as those red rank survivors I was facing every game. I learned that playing with friends was less stressful and more fun. But most of my friends I play with I made playing killer. We respected each other's skill and friendships were formed.
It is a tough game to balance when the objectives for each side are so opposed.
-
It's unfun but that is on the survivors. They should have split up and found a different genny. They got greedy and that gave you the power to make a decision on how the game was going to end.
-
I love the Clown, but he will have it tough against high ranked survivors. He is pretty fun to play if your not too concerned about ranking up.

Survivors are going to loop killers regardless of how the killer plays. Downing a survivor right off the hook is not tunneling and is an extremely effect strategy. Even if you choose to ignore a recently unhooked survivor in favor of "fairness" there is no way that survivor is going to reward you by taking a break from gens on putting their toolbox down lol. Just like gen-rushing isn't real because it's the survivor's only objective, tunneling isn't real because killing is the killers only objective.
I didn't say it wasn't a strategy nor did I say it wasn't effective. I just stated that you can't complain about looping being a tunneling killer as one leads to the other. Sure survivors will loop you but I have noticed games get less sweaty when they see that you will go out of your way to play "fair".
You didn't anwser have you played much survivor? Because while getting tunneled off the hook after getting farmed by a teammate may indeed be effective for the killer. But as a survivor it seems unfun and unfair. It is not my fault my potato teammate unhooked my right in front of you without BT. Now I depip and get no points and spend my time learning how to loop better so I don't get caught next time.
-
I won't anymore since I have been playing survivor. I get it as a killer the quicker its 3v1 the better.
But have you played much survivors? Have you been tunneled out of the game ,straight off the hook. It sux.
You can't complain about looping if you're a tunneling killer. What choice do they have but to loop you if you are going tunnel them out of the game. Kinda chicken and the egg there.
-
@Huff said:
Not saying that there's no gen speed problems at all, but...
If you used ruin every game you probably aren't amazing lets be honest.
This exactly. I am curious how many people are going settle a few ranks below their current rank now that ruin won't be doing half the work for em.
-
I have no problem with ruin in red/purple ranks. But those killers that are running a full tier 3 ruin, bbq, pop, overcharge build at rank 16 c'mon man!
Then ask them why they smurfing and they like ohhh I haven't played in 4 months. Okay ...sure.
I don't play my killer much anymore as I have been trying survivor out recently. However when I do play and I'm like a rank 12 now since I haven't played, I play with no perks or maybe 1 or 2 and definitely no ruin.
So I would like to see how many people can sustain their current rank without ruin and how many may find they were a bit boosted and fall back to a rank they can apply pressure and pip at.
Also this will let Devs know what needs to be implemented to help balance game as far as gen speeds and toolboxes.
-
Noed and blood warden will indeed increase. I think a lot of killers will be playing end game builds.
Others will adapt and play top tier killers.
I think they will rework pipping for killers so that we can still pip with like 1 kill and multiple hook actions.. They want us hooking and chasing survivors. Maybe get the weakest link or two and the others get out. Just hard to switch to that mentality as a killer after all this time.
-
Yes but can we remove them when you have all the killers. I try to avoid them but sometimes they make me buy a stupid splinter that I don't need.
Although it can be funny to play Freddy and use the Freddy splinter, just so end game survivors are like ######### dude?
-
@underlord99 said:
Are you going to do anything to help new killer players???
Yeah remove ranking so they won't see how unfair their match truly was!
-
I have already been on a little break from killer. Been trying my hand at survivor. But when I do play killer, doing dailies or getting some bloodpoints, I can only play like 3 games in a row. After that I get burnt and go back to survivor. I am less skilled there but seems less stressful to me.
-
I haven't seen the rank removal post. Am I missing it?
-
@BigTimeGamer said:
Killer gameplay will change
Now they will camp, tunnel and run NOED even more instead
I think you're right here. Many killers will just change that ruin perk slot for noed. Which in turn will work as a secondary objective as totems will become a priority as Noed will be the new 80% perk.
-
Just doing gens won't get you a pip. You need safe hook rescues and heals as well a good chase with the killer.
-
Yeah I play both sides as well, although I was a long time killer main. Ruin never lasted anyway so I think we will adjust. Or survivors would just hit greats anyway.
We may see a big increase in the top tier killers as it will be hard to experiment with less viable ones. I agree with gen rush builds. Maybe a SB and NC to slow down healing and find survivors. If they don't heal it will be easier to get em down as they will be injured all game.
Than Thrilling and Pop. Lock down the genny's and kick em as needed. I am curious to see if it becomes easier to rank as a killer but harder to get the 4ks?
-
I can see that happening now. Rush to get a guy out asap to give you a shot at keeping survivors off gennys.
