  • Haha..you guys are awesome! Many funny answers here.

From what I have seen today it looks like a Mori Christmas!

  • It sux to bring ruin in low ranks. But it is the only way to practice it is to play it.

You will get better just keep pushing through it.

It really hurts the killer more at those ranks in the long run. Because they learn to play with ruin and when they rank up and play survivors that will just hit greats then they get destroyed and cry about gen speeds.

  • I don't use moris anymore. I did when I first started killing but not any more since I can usually hold my own in games and find them too powerful. Also people just play super sweaty when you play one.

I would never bring in a key to escape, but I find one in a chest you can bet I will be dropping out that hatch.

If three people got through the hatch, well that means they did at least four genny's so I wouldn't say it would be undeserved.

I started playing without Ruin for the first time this weekend. Overall its been a rough go but you are right about the 'clock in your head' adjusting. It takes time but I think I am seeing some improvement ^^

Right on, great job. I learned in red ranks it is going get cleansed in seconds or they will just hit those greats.

I actually played my first game where I was survivor and escaped with ruin still up. I had never got through 5 gens before with ruin and I was a rando. So that was fun, but Pig never kicked a genny either so got lucky there.

  • I bought the oni because I own all the killers. I like to play around with new killers and gives my ego the feeling I can be less sweaty because "I'm learning "

  • Self care is a wasted perk slot.

If your new I get it..and the reason I main claudette. Because when I started survivor I needed it to not be a burden to my teammates.

I stick with her because I'm loyal.

So many better perks out there.

  • I hate farming. If I'm feeling nice I will 2 hook and go afk so they can finish gens.

Farming to me is just boring. As a survivor I'm trying to get good so killer farming is a waste of my time. I just pound gens and get out. Practice those greats.

  • Spirit and freddy..although I rarely play them now that I'm trying survivor.

Now I tend to do dailies and play less sweaty.

But it is fun to break out the spirit time to time and unleash the fury.

  • Gotta disagree. Play some games without it and the clock in your head will adjust. Gotta break chases sooner sometimes.

Split pressure as much as you can and you can still do fine.

  • Looping still is the weakest part of my game, but thanks to so many tunnelers I am quickly getting better.

I wish we could all play less sweaty, but I understand both sides won't until they know the other side is during a game. Unfortunately it takes too long to identify if one side is being less sweaty so both sides tend to start the game that way and it continues throughout the match.

I play much less sweaty as a killer now that I play survivor, and when I demonstrate I will not tunnel early in the match the game does get less sweaty. But if it takes a while for the opportunity to show the survivors I will not be camping and tunneling, well then it is a sweat match.

  • Camping is a no skill tactic. Maybe it is a strategy, but it will not allow for you to get better as a killer.

  • Aren't they more of a drain on their team by being left a slug? If teammates keep reviving them and you keep knocking them down, they would be better off if you just hooked them and let them die.

  • I do now, specially since I am in no rush to rank up anymore. If I am obviously better than the competition I may allow two to go. If it is a sweaty match with great survivors it depends on how I feel the game went.

  • What happen in this game, were you AFK?

  • we all know no one wants to sit on gennys any longer. It is the objective to get a win, and pressure the killer. It's the killer's job to stop the genny progress and pressure survivors.

  • And tome challenge to heal your self twice with self care

  • @ABannedCat said:

Just the other day, I was playing Ghostface, and over the course of the match, I got hit by all 4 Decisive Strikes. 3 of those were me pulling injured suvivors off generators. I am sorry survivors, but if me stopping you from doing your objective is tunnelling, well then, I am a filthy tunneller.

Tunneling to me is chasing me right off the hook. If you grabbed em off gens that's not tunneling to me. They went back to objectives and you found them.

I have plenty of games where killer stops mid chase after I'm I'm unhooked and just starts chasing me again.

But I guess eventually it will make me a better looper.

  • @Xerge said:

Even survivors seem to be frustrated by ds, without being aware of it.

I mean, I've had a few complaints about slugging the last survivor after downing the survivor who did the unhook. Do survivors seriously expect me to pick them up after they just got unhooked? They might have a ds for all I know.

Also, I've had complaints of camping the hook after I hooked a survivor very close to an exit gate that is opened in which I can see the other two remaining survivors standing there trying to get my attention and bait me. Sorry, but I can't take the bait and let you unhook your friend, because he will most likely have ds for all I know. I could chase you and hook you, but then that survivor might unhook you ds me and then you will ds me for all I know.

I don't understand why survivor mains seem to expect the killer to be a mindless chaser with no strategy. It's almost as if they forget that there is a real human being controlling the killer.

    No..just go after the unhooker.

  • Most of friends I've actually met playing killer. I play fair and compliment good game play and end up making survivor friends.

Unfortunately their ranks are much higher than my survivor rank and the killers see I'm the weakest looper and tunnel me.

  • It is a strategy...just very unfun to play against.

Unfortunately so often camping gets rewarded with shti saves.

Tunneling the farmed survivor is worse to me..at least let me play a little. Which is another reason for the looping meta. Can't complain about looping if you're a tunneling killer.

Plus you will never get better at killer if these are your go to strategies.

  • How did freddy lose counter to BT. If your asleep BT doesn't work still, correct?

Also sounds are broken again, you cannot hear Iron WIll Survivors with Stridor, you cannot hear them at all - no grunts, no foot steps.

Oh good to know, I was wondering. I just tried Stridor for the first time and I was like this perks sucks. Thanks

  • Yes, it is bugged for spirit on PS4 as well.

  • Also the bug currently removing her post phase lunge speed. I didn't see anyone complaining about her speed add-ons. Collision seemed to be biggest complaint, but at least she wasn't nursed.

  • I hate it too, but I understand why it is done. If you are really concerned with pips and rank then people do it to swing the match in their favor as quickly as they can.

Or if you are new, you do it because you are insecure if you can get a kill or catch a survivor again.

I do not do this as killer anymore, I have been enjoying attempting to "git gud" as survivor and know how frustrating this can be. I have more relaxed games as killer and survivors seem to play less sweaty when they see I am not tunneling.

I don't mean downing them and chasing the unhooker, I mean ignoring them and chasing the unhooker.

Full BBQ stacks and 2ks and maybe 10 hooks is great game for me now!

  • Well sometimes my lady plays on my account while we take turns. And she should probably be a rank 13 or so. Perhaps this is the case .

I often wonder what people think when they see my rank after a game with her at the controls

  • Yeah cant make gen times any longer because it is boring as is.

  • It's the objective. When I play solo I'm a gen jockey to help the team escape. Killer doesn't get me off gens then I'm going keep doing em.

  • They can all be legitimate tactics albeit not fun for the other side.

I have found that once survivors realize your not tunneling or camping they tend to play less sweaty. Start checking chest, doing totems and such.

  • Why dc at all?

That was me until I realized that with Spirit, I rarely even get to the endgame because everyone’s already dead or at least 3 are, and one is going for hatch. I also didn’t like the fact that survivors can do bones and get rid of ruin and noed on me. So now I use Pop to slow things down and play around with obsession perks because that’s more fun for everyone.

Yes I get it at beginning of killer. I used to tunnel hard. But then I learned to play better and I agree it is rare for them to complete 5 gennys. If I lose 1, its was usually to the hatch.

Now I play killer much less sweaty.

  • Why would you not. It is only way to put pressure on the killer and perhaps force them into mistakes.

It is the way to power the gates and escape. It has already be stated by many on these forums too much altruism will get the whole team killed

  • @DBDfan12 said:

im so tired of the term gen rushing. its so dumb, thats what youre suppose to be doing. the role of survor is to fix gens. no you didn't gen rush if you finished them quickly. the killers job is to stop you . there is NO SUCH THING AS GEN RUSHING

You aren't accounting anything but 2 or 3. You have 0, 1, and 4 kill games as well happening in that total 100 all equaling to averaging 2 kills per game. And like I said, HOW/WHEN/WHERE you get those Killers is what matters. Not the kills themselves.

For all we know Survivors are doing what they tend to do in high ranks. Play like they don't give a damn and get themselves killed more often than they should. They already earned high rank and likely got their pip plus BP, why bother escaping over having some risky fun? Some high rank Survivors I know stop caring about if they live or not and will 100% sacrifice themselves in order to do gimmicks or goof off.

In the raw kill data it just reads that they died. Nothing more, nothing less. But in truth if you don't know how, when, and where they died you wont know jack about balancing the game. Being killed by the Killer using his power means more than by a M1. Getting killed with 5 gens to go means more than death in the EGC. Running to to tiles with pallets/loops means more than getting downed in the middle of nothing.

Pull your head out of the kill average's backside and look at the big picture. The reason most game devs don't bother giving players stats is that they very few understand anything about them and just jump on a single detail out of thousands.

Dude your being rude there. I know this, this is what I have been saying for a day now. That is how averages work. it could be 50 4ks and 48 1ks and 2 0k games. Or any permutation that results in the average of 2.92 kills per game. That is all I said. I don't see why the big deal in admitting this.

Sure we have no knowledge of how these kills came to be or how they correlate to game play. Just that raw data number indicating kill rate.

    That's all I have said.

  • @Chewy102 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/905184#Comment_905184

No, the simple math is that 2 = 2. The .92 means nothing as you can't kill .92 of a person making it 2 kills average per game till you break into it being a full 3. If you are charged $3 for something at a store, you aren't going to get away with paying only $2.92. 2.92 is close to 3, but it isn't 3. "Close enough" doesn't belong in math at all be it simple or not as math is math.

This goes far beyond the kill counts in any case. Raw kill counts only show the bulk averages. Often enough snowballing goes one way or the other in DbD. If the Killer snowballs, it is very much going to be a 3-4 kill game based on the hatch. If Survivors snowball, then it is likely a 0-1 kill game. All of those 0 kill, 1 kill, 2 kill, 3 kill, and 4 kill games make up the raw averages and Id like to see their % numbers instead of just the average. It tells a much clearer story in my opinion as a Killer can have a higher kill average, but is extremely bipolar in having nothing but 0 kill and 4 kill games with nothing in between thanks to how DbD snowballing works.

Id also like to know average game length. Average chase length. Average gen time/s for each of the 5 gens of a game. % of skill checks of failed/good/great. How often does using a Killer power end with ending a chase. The survival/kill rates per map and/or for each Killer. And oh so much more.

Taking about raw kill averages is like arguing over kill/death ratios on COD. Pointless without the details of how you got those kills in the first place.

2.92 means in 100 games 92 are 3ks and 8 are 2ks. That is simple math. not 2=2. If you are talking wholes then yes it would average two and 92/100 which is indeed 2 wholes. But that .92 can not be just forgotten. It is still 3ks 92/100 games.

Now we have no idea how it correlates to strategy, hook ratios, moris or any other thing because we don't have the data on that.

But we do know that on average in 100 games, Freddy at red ranks is getting 3ks 92 times.

  • Yeah silly to be so toxic. And 2 got out. It says more about their character.

I understand playing with your friends to have FUN, mess around with the killer etc. But where is the fun when every one of you is running the strongest perks in the game and you're trying to escape as fast as possible?

Escape is the fun part for me. I don't bm but I like to escape or at least help my teammates escape.

  • I watched my oldest daughter play for some time and just got interested. I tried to survive with her at first but just kept getting wrecked. Tried killer and eventually got good and hit rank 1.

Now I am having fun swfing with my daughter and some friends. And getting better.

    That's what I want..to be a great survivor.

It is a big deal though as a "close enough" mentality leads to massive flaws. Those details add up over time and you are only looking at the raw kill numbers while ignoring hook counts, gen progress, game length, and more.

That 2.92 equals to roughly 8 hooks out of 12 total. Landing 8 hooks in a game is asking a lot in higher ranks as that can be up to 8 full length chases in matches that can end in as little as 5-6 minutes. And if you happen to spread those hooks too much? You're boned and can have 0-1 kills while still having those 8 hooks out of 12.

Details add up. "Close enough" doesn't work and is called half assed for a reason of it not being worth #########.

We have no idea how many hook actions it took to reach that average. It could be 3 with noed ate egc... but it is still 3ks 92/100 games

yeah i also run that and corrupt intervention as dont have ruin but it still doesnt solve the issue as even with discordance all that it does is tell me if two people are at gens and i could be at the other end of the farm for example. i think the two issues is the gen times are fast and sizes of the map hence why i suggested to increase the gen times on big/medium maps but on small maps keep them the same

I see what your saying. Gen speed in relation to map size. Interesting idea.

  • @GeordieKiller said:

I have to agree the gen speeds are so fast as 3 survivors on one gen which is what normally happens in games takes 33 seconds! which is extremely diffcult to deal with on medium and big maps. but was thinking why not increase gen repair times on those medium to big maps instead of a general increase on repairing gens, as if we did it to the small maps then those games will always be a killer win games(which sounds to heaven for me lol). But i can't see why its unfair to increase the times on the gens in medium and big maps was thinking for three people doing one gen in a big map should take 50 to 60 seconds and that just a survivor doing it with no perks or toolboxes.

Discordance is good for this. It helps me control start of game.

You don't really round since 2.92 is still not a 3k if your actually looking at it in terms of kills btw 0-24 =0k 25-49=1k 50-74=2k 75-99=3k 100%=4k

You don't need too but mathematically it's closer to 3. No big deal...just math teacher in me. See it how you want. Out of 100 games..92 will be 3ks.

  • I know its 2.92 /4. Which is 2 and 92 out of 100 3ks. 8 out of 100 games prevents a 3 k average.

    1 survivor is 25%. 3 is 75%. 2 is 50. Until it reaches 75 you're averaging out to 2 survivors per game.

2.92 my friend...see it how you like...but it is 2.92

When I run into the same survivor somehow after they were unhooked I normally down them and leave them there. Some called me a toxic slugger for it...I mean.. I didnt want to kill them right away because I felt bad...but guess I'm the bad guy no matter what

I get that theory. I would rather you hook me and let me play another game. Being slugged sux. Or pick me up and take chance I may actually hit my ds which I just started running because I cant loop yet.

Nope with those stats no killer had gotten 75+ Freddy is at 73% but it's still in the 2k range all killers are in the 2k range btw

C'mon this is silly...it equates to 2.92 kills a game. If something cost $2.92 you rounding that to 2$ or 3.

That's not how averages work. 3K don't happen on average until it reaches 75%

I know that friend...but you would round it to 75...not 50

1 … 76 77 78 79 80
