Anymore, none. Previously, probably Pop, sometimes Corrupt.
But, I play for shiggles anymore, keep it fun and light. At least for me.
I have been running Starstruck, MYC, Agitation and Dragon's Grip or Haunted Grounds. Just trying to have fun and scare the ######### out of survivors.
-
I think everyone knows at high MMR you will rarely win going for 12 hooks.
Even survivor mains understand this.
Question is how do we achieve a game balance where all of this isn't necessary.
And if we do, would killers still do it?
-
It's just not that big of a deal
-
That is some good news! Love me some Legion!
-
Red grade means ######### anyway. They just play a lot, doesn't mean they are good.
At least according to BE

This resonates with me because my partner and I are the same. We grab a few drinks, and think; "*let's have some fun this evening, why not try DBD?"*.
Naive, I know.
When my partner has tried it, and is being face-camped, he asks me how he's supposed to get away from the Killer *when the Killer is standing right there* and downs him immediately after unhook.
... well uh...magic.
We decided to try stealth. So one game he ends up as the last survivor, only to have the Killer slug him, carry him to the hatch, close it in his face, then proceeds to let him fully bleed out while he rings the bell (wraith).
Needless to say, I got a "*Why do you like this game? It's filled with little a*holes".
BECAUSE I HATE MYSELF OF COURSE.
I feel that.
Last time, she said [BAD WORD] it, I'm not playing anymore. Breaks my heart honestly

Well there is sadly absolutely no incentive to play like me for example. Going for 8 hooks, never the same survivor twice in a row and giving room for unhooks.
The game give none and even survivor don't show any apparition for it. Either there is nothing resembling positive feedback or the same negativity the here discussed playstyle provokes.
And it is absolutely rare for survivor to step from the gas when encountering my playstyle.
So both sides are guilty in this and we of the minority are the vict of the masses.
I totally agree!
-
First, these tactics are not toxic. Bad game design maybe.
But, yes I am tired of it. I respect everyone and their right to play how they want. But, I like to play with my lady when I am not in solo. And it has become impossible. She just gets tunneled out of every single game anymore. Even if we offer ourselves to the killer in an attempt to get them to leave her alone and just let her play.
So, yes I am tired of it. I know both sides have complaints, But we are not all god like survivors, some of us like to have a few drinks and play with our unskilled partners.
I know high MMR makes games just as tough for some killers. But, please, we are far from that death squad. ######### my lady plays hardly at all and my other buddy plays with only 1 finger on his right hand. No hyperbole, lost most of his hand in an explosion when he was young.
But sure, tunnel and camp us because someone, somewhere, has to play against some great survivors.

Wraith doesn't need anymore nerfs, still loopable while being competitive

Lol!

I just want an option to die on the ground. Last game I played, had a great game, got some good loops and saves, heals, gennys, I finish last genny and GF hits me, once all game, with NOED.
Then leaves me to bleed out on the ground, at least the other two survivors were able to get the doors open and leave in that time, So much fun.
-
Im a kindred, bond, windows, DS gamer, so you're welcome!

I feel you!
I think I may officially be taking a break. The game and forums have become a ######### show.
It's like people forget they versing/talking to actual human beings.
But I guess you gotta win that match or debate at all costs.
Scorched Earth policy is now the norm

Same here. Unfortunately I don't have 7 fingers on my left hand so I just plug my PS4 controller in now, it's a little annoying that the on screen buttons are all for Xbox though.
I get that, maybe I should try it, but I so badly want to learn the controls

Oh, people can play how they like. My stance is that if they play scummy, though, they have absolutely zero rights to complain when the other team (or same team) plays scummy back. If you facecamp don't complain when gens fly and 3 people tbag you at the gates. If you clicky clicky all game don't complain when you're facecamped- that sort of thing. If you bodyblock a survivor repeatedly then don't expect that survivor to save you, and a lot of killers will leave them alone to tunnel you because it's a dick move.
Play how you like, but if you're being a dickhead then don't complain if the other side are too.
This exactly!^^
-
Not close enough, lol.
Of course they are, but let's keep adding content instead of fixing this #########

Nothing in game is toxic to me unless it's cheating.
End game chat is about it for me.
-
As a Marine Vet, I'd like to know where you got this figure. .25 of a second to sight, and fire, while maintaining trigger control and sight picture and sight alignment dealing with adrenaline , while moving and shooting at a moving target.
I think you would miss more than you would hit, but I digress
-
I agree something is up. But my problem is I recently tried the game on steam. And I have about 0 experience gaming on a PC, besides a few games of Roblox I played with my students.
So, while I know the game, I have no idea how to use the controls. I now have 4 hours on PC and I am constantly getting killer with hundreds of hours.
I thought it would be a good time to learn, but it has been frustrating. It is a weird feeling to know the game and not the controls.
-
Yeah, I play mainly solo, so I run it every game. I just can't count on teammates making smart unhooks. And tunneling is becoming Meta as well, so best to be prepared.

Because chain hunt doesn't stop for them, and on top of chain hunt spawning chains, the box spawns additional chains. Basically a big part of pinhead is that during chain hunt his m2 is upgraded. Possessed chains always lands 3 chains, but during chain hunt it can be around 5 because the passive chains land much easier. It means looping a good pinhead (which is already very difficult) is even more difficult.
Makes sense, gotcha. So solve the damn box.
Another thing for those of us that put in work have to do in Selfish Q

Holding the box as a survivor is throwing the game for your team. It gives pinhead a lot of time to find and catch you, and it doesnt remove his m2 ability. Downing a box holder is extremely easy, and lets him start his snowball. Solve it the moment you pick it up.
Why is it easy to down the box holder? Because of oblivious?
-
@Gwinty said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2544203#Comment_2544203
No, actualy you solve the box instantly when he teleports and respawns somewhere else after 30 - 45 seconds. Only chains that where already spawning should still target you. Also of course he can still conjure his own chains to target you, the active part of his power. Maybe the Cenobite you faced used the add on "Impaling Wire" that spawns chains when you break chains on the enviroment?
I understand that you are not a fan of a passive ability. This is precisely why I hate Hex: Ruin. That thing can just chill under a stairchase in the saloon or behind a rockpile on Ormont and ruin the entire game just by existing. And Ruin on top of Cenobites ability is just trash.
However I like side objectives and Cenobite is finaly a Killer interducing a side objective that you actualy can not ignore. Because something like Freddys "Dream State" is just a bad joke.
Another thing I like about this power is that I can challenge the Cenobite for a chase by using the box or accept the challenge when a survivor takes the box to solve it. Far more fun than a clickering flashlight.
Thanks!
Guess I need to put more time playing him so I can understand his power better. What are your thoughts on holding the box as survivor?
-
@Gwinty said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2544102#Comment_2544102
Did you ever play against Pinhead?
When he teleports the box is solved and disappears. There is no "teleport to get you off the box". Also survivors can hold the box hostage or solve it on a favorable tile. If you know where Pinhead is you can pinpoint where he will spawn when you solve the box and you have no more problem.
I think he is fine. I play him quit often and both his actual power as well as his passive are good. His normal power has interesting counterplay and opens many opportunities for mindgames, his passive is a good slowdown. Finaly a Killer you can run without Ruin/Undying/Pop and where you can enjoy some other perks.
Sure he gets a bit painful when you stack Hex: Ruin on top of his power. But Hex: Ruin is a problem anyway so that should not count. Ruins needs a nerf not Cenobites passive.
Good killer in my opinion. I like playing as him, I like facing him. Good chase music, good theme.
However he lacks his voicelines.
I have, but when he teleports, you leave the box unsolved and it respawns somewhere else. Am I wrong here? Because, yesterday, I kept getting teleported to, then he would leave me and the chains would still be active.
I certainly agree, playing as him can be different. But, I am not a fan of the passive abilities for doing nothing
-
IDK why people do this. But it makes Selfish Q borderline impossible to play more than a few games.
I had a game where we finished two gens and guys DCs when he went down. Like, 1 hook for 2 gens is a pretty decent start.
Maybe they just expect to go to second stage on first hook anymore , so they just let go.

The passive chains only activate if all four survivors ignore the box for 90 seconds, which they can see the aura of at all times. Pinhead might have done nothing to trigger the Chain Hunt, but the survivors also did nothing. It's like saying that Pig's RBT's are BS because they can activate and potentially kill you without her doing anything.
I understand how it works. The pig has to catch you, down you, trap you and cannot teleport to the jigsaw box. Not the same thing.
Also, trying to do the box in solo q, when Pinhead just teleports to the box, not even to chase you, but to just get you off the box is BS.
-
His passive power is a bit BS to verse, I mean he gets slow down during chase for doing absolutely nothing.
Successfully Playing as him is strongly related to his passive working in your favor.
He is too RNG based and little skill for me.

"Few care". Incorrect.
Well, how many people play DBD?
I'd say it represents a "few" when viewing the population as a whole.
Or even gamers as a whole.
-
If you want to tunnel, tunnel.
Few care, and no one is going to be surprised.
Next game.
-
There is a VOD for that.
In all seriousness , I suggest Windows of Opportunity if you have it or can get it. And watch some Youtube videos. Then, don't play immersed, do gens, when the killer finds you, start the chase and work on getting better. Leave the genny earlier, if you are not a great looper, to give yourself some distance.
Looping takes time, and honestly, I am still only average and I have 4 years in game. So don't be too hard on yourself, remember, killers are good too and they work on ending chases quickly.
And, patience at corners as well. Good luck!
-
I imagine it's ego driven. Like I have to catch and kill you now, because you looped the ######### out of me.
Other than that, IDK, because at some point you're throwing 🤷 just to get 1k.
-
If their team let them go to second stage that is some selfish #########.
Since I am rarely near a hooked survivor, I wouldn't even notice until I saw it in the HUD.
But, I would continue to play normally, albeit trying to be a bit nicer to that survivor. I would at least let them get fully healed probably. But, if say they went back to a totem they may have saw in chase, and I find them, I'll probably just kill em.
-
To be fair, it's not like half the kilkers are going leave the hook anyway.
But, you're not wrong!
-
I have played since the Doctor's release and I am one of the last ones left still playing in my group.
I don't know if I will ever leave, but struggling through solo q has me thinking of finding some new Swfmates 🤔. And, honestly, idk if I want to actually do that again. I like the freedom of solo q as well killer.
I wouldn't say I am a on a break, but I am playing much less these last few weeks. Guess time will tell, but constantly sweating in a game is not what I want to do.

2.5 Seconds to Open Hatch with no Interrupt penalty is okay i guess, if it were me it would be atleast 4 seconds but never know in live games. I'm just glad this might help reduce the peeps that hide the entire match with keys a little bit, no more click and win
Remember when Mori's got nerfed into the floor and survivors said, "GIT GUD LOL"
Now that the shoe's on the other foot, it doesn't feel very good, does it?
You must have missed all the posts of killers crying about Boon Totems.
"Just do bones", right?
Talk about the shoe and the other foot.

Survivors setting up boons for the killer to snuff out and then get relit is only a time waster for the killer. A single survivors time is worth much less the killers time.
And if the Killer doesn't snuff out the boons then survivors just get to keep their insane buffs.
It's literally a lose-lose for the killer because nothing the killer does about boon totems works for them.
Well, tunneling and camping seems to work just fine, so now I guess killers will have even more incentive to tunnel.
And, perhaps in the highest ranks a single survivors time is worth less. But, in most solo q games I play, one ######### survivor wasting time will throw the whole match

U win in chasing and healing. Healing boons currently outscale sloppy butcher x5, not to mention basic hits. Mb u think u lost some seconds to rebless it, but u your team won in everything else.
And shadow walk totems now allows u all over hidden, so killer don't see your scratch marks, and unless he hear u it's a win win.
Well, previously, it was a Lose /Lose to do totems. So maybe they will find a balance. But, gens are stilled slowed if people are doing totems, regardless.

You are right about that, but at the same time, it gives them (at least in my opinion) an overpowered ability.
I honestly haven't seen a lot of the PTB, so I am unsure if they are OP or not. I will definitely watch a bit more before I decide.

U loose 16 sec to get benefit in chase and healing. How's that slowing down game? It's a win win situation.
Regardless of the benefits, killers have stated for years, "Just do bones". Survivors get a reason to do them, the slow down remains the same, especially if they continue to bless them throughout the game, and people are going to complain?
I don't get this. If survivors are on doing bones, repeatedly at that, the gens are going slower.
-
But don't they make survivors "just do bones" and slow the gen rush. Isn't that what killers have been asking for ?
-
Damn, that's a tough run there.
Maybe you can join the survivor ques, I could use more competent teammates in Selfish Q.
-
It's effective, that is why it is done.
It is also, often, rewarded by survivors not doing gennys.
One must remember, that others have the right to sweat just as hard for their win definitions as you do.
Is it fun for both sides? No. Should you care? That is very subjective.
Admittedly, I don't use these tactics, because I have played so long and don't need to worry about getting another 4k.
Have I used these tactics, hell yeah, I didn't get all those 4ks 12 hooking every game.
-
My guess, is the 99% meta. Why should I be punished because some fools decided to 99 the gates. Open the damn gates so I can run out.
-
Yeah, I don't even worry about it, if I see it , I'll cleanse it.
But, that's about it!
-
Not everyone wants to SWF.
Some of us prefer the freedom of solo as well the experience.
-
Kinda on the survivors to notice what he is doing here and react accordingly
-
So true Mr_K, nobody reads the patch notes.
You all know there is whole section on patch notes, right?
