  • Unstoppable force(various unique licenses) vs immovable object(BHVR game balance team)

  • No it won't, bye bye 👋

  • i didnt watch terrifier movies because HONESTLY i dislike slashers, i think those movies are pointless+boring.

But i am much bigger fan of survival horror, thats why my favourite licenses are RE and SH. And i feel like Art is just Springtrap but for slashers, people don't want to accept it because its too recent, but truth is Terrifier is a modern icon of slasher movies, young generation will talk about him in 10-15 years like people talk about freddy, jason, myers right now. Same for springtrap, FNAF is modern survival horror icon, even if some deny it.

  • yes lets introduce global system that will make already weak m1 roster even worse, to deal with 2 op killers in the roster because they are unfun to face against for survivors

    yeah probably.

Can you lighten it up and show me those whiny posts in this thread you were referring to?

Bro's fulfilling his daily internet debate quota 😂

but its not really mature to respond like this either…

what this has to do with my comment lol, whiny=immature?

  • Omg most whiny commjnity ever, waaah my Dwight has different grunts how now I am going to play 😂

  • When survivor just shift+w whole chase, bonus points if they use sprint+vigil. It isnt even strong since after a while you adapt that surv use all their might and power to turn around and run to the opposing direction second they think you lost sight of them, and you just end up m1ing them in open field, but cmon dont you want to loop

  • Reality: Resident Evil chapter 3, Silent Hill chapter 2, Bendy and the ink machine CHAPTER

  • huh where are you taking this info from? No one said(yet) they are going to recast anyone. All OG voices belong to BHVR and their workers. Grunts are staying the same. They will just add dialogues.

And from personal perspective, i do not understand people who disappointed in that, isn't that boring to play same thing for years? Don't you want to see some new tweaks to your character-new cosmetics, voice, model change?

This is just your ego talking. I play killer more than survivor and I never slug for a 4k unless the survs were just being toxic. It wastes everybody's time. You won the game with a 3k. Who gives a ######### if one survivor gets to escape through the hatch? I get out through the hatch in the majority of my games. You know why? Because my teammates are trash and I can actually loop the killer so they leave me after I've wasted like 1-2 minutes of their time. Needing to get a 4k because you feel it's owed to you is just ego and baby mentality. Wah wah I need my 4k Mr. Entity I did so good I deserve it. Just end the game bro. It's not that deep. If you count 1 surv out as a loss than you're the issue, not the hatch. You're the one having unfun games. You are the problem. And from one killer main to another, stop it. You make us all look bad.

    >Needing to get a 4k because you feel it's owed to you is just ego and baby mentality. Wah wah I need my 4k Mr. Entity I did so good I deserve it

Except Vecna doesn't put you to sleep, his projectile and teleport function are entirely different from Freddy, and the clock interactables weren't even apart of Old Freddy's kit that we currently are talking about.

If needing to hit someone with your power and then finding an interactable makes you literally Freddy, Nemesis and Krasue are both literally Freddy too.

"Invisibility was pointless" and "m1 is boring" are not reasons Vecna is literally Freddy, they're reasons you don't like old Freddy. People liked that old Freddy was incorporeal in the real world and wanted the devs to try making it work. Vecna's "invisibility mode" as you put it, functions literally nothing like Old Freddy, unless ig Wraith is also literally Old Freddy.

    >Vecna doesn't put you to sleep

he literally does, thats what his ability is doing

    >his projectile and teleport function entirely different from Freddy

yes, old freddy literally didn't have anything. It would be difficult to make a ability that functions like nothingness.

    >
clock interectables weren't even apart of old Freddy's kit

Yeah i kinda forgot about it, guess he would be way to weak if survivors could wake up with clocks. ST Vecna actually has an ability unlike old Freddy so to balance it a bit they added clocks from reworked freddy kit.

    >"Invisibility was pointless" and "m1 is boring" are not reasons Vecna is
literally Freddy, they're reasons you don't like old Freddy.

Are you going to seriously, like SERIOUSLY, suggest, that just m1, JUST M1, is a lot of fun and interesting concept? If you are, sure, who i am to argue with you, but that would be a take of all time.

i will ignore your "comparisons" because you can say this about most killers, devs are constantly recycle things, yes. Yet in complexity, ST Vecna functions insanely similarily, both thematically and power design wise, and i am 99% sure if they were to make Freddy today, we would just get ST Vecna.

  • @ArkInk said:

If by that you mean both abilities give the game a filter, sure? Literally nothing in common between them aside from that.

Filter? You can use reshade or Nvidia for filters, I am not talking about that. Person was specifically talking about old freddy ability and not just filters like op

Ability design is obviously inspired by old freddy. ST Vecna needs to put survivors to "sleep" before being able to injure them. Survivors can use special interaction items to get out of "sleep". Difference being Freddy's was individual for every survivor, ST Vecna's is universal.

Also instead of being insanely boring m1 without any abilities he has strong m2, only killer ability in the same you can spam making unique gameplay.

"Invisibility" was pointless, yeah it was funny sight to see survivor Freddy is holding flying in the sky, but thats it. Also ST Vecna also has invisibility mode which is his ctrl.

Old Freddy was literally invisible before he lulled you to sleep. Vecna tinting the screen red is really not comparable.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4087067#Comment_4087067

I don't think the incapacitated status effect even existed at the time, shame since it would've plugged one of Freddy's biggest pain points. If he had a secondary ability of some sort (perhaps even his current version of blood snare and teleporting), he'd have had much more bite as a killer and might've avoided getting like 4 major power reworks.

Its literally old Freddy ability if it wasn't ass

  • lmao
just make game play for yourself at this point

  • Deliverance straights up punishes killer for not tunneling so yeah they need to rework it.

    I miss old Freddy.

  • Doesn't hasbro own dnd? I think its very much possible but obviously only cosmetics-profile stuff, charms, some inspired outfits.

  • i think bhvr just gave up on doing interesting killer powers, no one plays killers like singularity so onward every killer will be dash slop with mobility.

Perks, i think, are fine, we get new interesting and powerful perks, although for some reason survivors get much more powerful perks than killer…(turn on the clock is cool tho, thank for giving 1 good perk in 3 years!)

  • Personally I dislike facing spirit because of how she is animated, you cant immediately see if she started moving or changed direction which makes playing her even as m1 killer much easier.

Also her m2 is pretty much just 50/50, although its much better than it used to be.

Krasue no idea for some reason no one plays her

But how do those prejudices form? For example, why do characters like Portia or Felix have no famed stereotype attached to them?

probably some youtuber or twitch star said it

  • People have some prejudice toward the character, if they encounter someone who follows it, they remember them, if they do not, they forget him(not even intentionally). That's it.

God who cares about character ages. Just raise it 18 with the same appearance, its not like people look completely different at 15 and 18.

Take a look at your personal stats. Do you see "wins" anywhere on the survivor tab? No, you see a personal escape rate. The game doesn't require survivors to be team-minded, and they aren't rewarded in anyway for doing so. Until there's more basekit assistance and more full-game changes to help soloqers be a team, they usually aren't.

Thinking killers should be able to guarantee an end game kill even if they were terrible all match is the most entitled idea I've ever seen. If you're entitled to a 4k every match you win, then aren't survivors entitled to a 4 out every match they get the gens done and the gates open?

Lol I do play killer. I know it's hard to believe, but we don't all want things to be free and easy. Some of us want to earn what we get.

    Called a hypocrisy.

You know what's hypocrisy? Thinking you should always get a 4k when you're winning, even going so far as to supress intended mechanics, and then also thinking you deserve a free end game kill when you're losing.

Take a look at your personal stats. Do you see "wins" anywhere on the killer tab? No, you see a personal kill rate. The game require you to play for 4k. Not "3k is a win anyway going for 4k is an ego". But it only works one-way right? 🤣

I personally dont think killer should guarantee 1k at endgame, but i dont think hatch should exist either. Why do survs get free win buttons and killer can't get a thing that doesn't even give them a win, not even a draw, just a kill. "I am poor solo q so skilled my teammates suck i deserve i win". Once again play killer or some game where individual skill matters more. You dont come to team game and complain about your random teammates otherwise(its not like you cant get friends to play with yourself) you are just an idiot honestly who hates himself.

Yes its hard to believe you play a killer if you think any killer gets things free and easy. Thats just average opinion of bad surv who gets stomped in 15s chase by skull merchant and complains about killers being too OP.

Also slugging at 2 survs is intended, at the very least at this point it is, it was like that for years and bhvr did not address it in any way, either bhvr dont care and dont fix obvious problem for years or you just make up things in your head. Choose your poison.

The hatch is an intended mechanic certain players have decided to supress. Endurance is an intended mechanic that's hard to suppress, so I guess just delete it? You are the one caught up on the idea of deserved things. You think you deserve a 4k even if everyone gives up. So do you also think you deserve a free kill when you play like garbage and get two hooks all match?

These too things aren't remotely equivalent. A survivor can play perfectly but have bad teammates that cost them the match. Hence, the hatch exists. And it's not a guarantee even if it's allowed to spawn. But killers are one person, and if you did bad, it's solely on you. Killer should be the role of individual skill expression and personal responsibility yet so many are always asking for more free stuff.

And surv side is a side of team skill expression. God why you so stubborn about getting a win in a game your team lost, it would be absurd in any other team-based pvp, if your team loses you also lose no matter how godly player you are, thats like common sense, not difficult concept to grasp, but i guess dbd players are built different. Why cant you play killer or just a game where only individual skill expression matters if losing because of bad teammates is so frustrating for you.

I guess i can slightly understand that a little more now, but generally whats wrong with a survivor getting hatch? As killer youve won, and played well. should that not be enough?

Whats wrong with killer guaranteeing a kill in an endgame?

  • @TropesDaMan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4085786#Comment_4085786

I generally think Cog was saying that you have to work hard and play well for a Endgame kill, its not free. i have no idea where Hatch came into play here

Because you dont have to play well for the hatch, but somehow surv getting it is deserved, while getting a single kill in an endgame which is a lose anyway for a killer is not deserved. Called a hypocrisy.

  • @cogsturning said:

Part of endgame as killer is thinking about the best way to do things. If the person has no hook states than hooking is often not the best idea. If the basement is nearby, you have a better chance of defending the hook. As it is, some killers are very difficult to rescue against, and if survivors aren't coordianted they can blow it and flip a win into a loss. Killers already get no anti-camp, and most useful survivor perks are disabled in endgame.

End game kills aren't supposed to be free. If you have 2 or 3 people left to perform the rescue, you probably don't deserve it.

"Don't deserve it" well bro what about hatch, does surv deserve it in a lost game? 🤣

  • PH worked like that pretty much since their first PTB, its intended. Yeah some maps like RPD suck for PH because of that but he's by far not the most map depending killer.

  • Good change because people were doing whatever challenges they had instead of playing game, I remember when there was some crazy challenge for totems like 15 or 20 and first few days whenever I went solo q surv we had at least 1 person who was just running around and cleansing totems. Also they were kinda paywalled since for some challenges you need certain characters/perks. Sometimes said characters were licensed.

  • Revert PH ability speed from 4.2 to 4.4 thats all he needs to be low A at the very least, i am sure BHVR dont buff PH because he is the most tunneling killer and people will complain even more if he becomes popular. Also let him vanish into some silent hill dimension where he is fast or teleport idk thats basekit for all new killers

  • @cogsturning said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4085358#Comment_4085358

Tell me why a killer deserves to kill a survivor who's stuck in a match where all their teammates DCed or AFked under hook at match start? Contrary to popular belief, survivors are all individual people, not a hive mind split into four, and they often get handed bad situations by teammates that completely remove their agency and ability to win. Maybe you play survivor to just have fun little chases until you inevitably die because the killer surely deserves all their 4ks but I do not.

If you genuinely believe a killer is entitled to a 4k when someone had zero chance to win I actually don't know what to say. I personally prefer to get my kills through actually playing, and if people don't want to play, I'll remove them and give someone who got handed a raw deal hatch. Because it isn't their fault. I want the hatch there just as much as survivor as I do killer because it allows me to let someone go in an unfair match.

If you want to let last survivor go you'll find your way, hatch isnt needed for that. Calling wanting a 4k "ego issue" is hilarious, thats literally killer's ultimate goal. Playing for a win? Oops bro you have ego issues. I want deserved 4k, thats it, I dont care If I stomped solo q with 2 Sable who disconnect after first down or fought tooth and nail against 4k hours SWF, I deserve this win regardless. If you want to win as surv then find SWF team for yourself and play with them, going solo q you basically agree to have zero control of who your teammates are and what will they do.

My personal experience is that while playinf solo q I still escape through gates good amount of games and solid teammates aren't that rare, if you have disconnects every game thats probably low mmr lobbies, you'll get better teammates more you play. And I have no issues dying/being tunneled by good killer, they just do what they need to win, its actually good practice play against someone actually good. It was frustrating back when we had challenges that required escape but thankfully they got rid of those.

It's very much ego, as you said. God forbid you don't destroy everyone in this game of limited communication that doesn't teach proper teamwork. Not to mention the amount of matches where people throw or DC immediately and the 4k is very much not deserved, but was handed over by other teammates. If there was no out in matches like that and you had no hope 1 minute in, I don't know why anyone would play this role. Not soloq, anyway.

Is hatch only reason you play survivors? Really? Also isnt that also just an ego that you want to escape in a lost game? Its absolutely not killer's fault survivors DC

You're way overthinking something that doesn't even count as a "win" for survivor. Hatch debates are pointless when the devs don't consider it any more significant than a means of ending the game

    Per a dev:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LRQBGHWJLXAS/1000014118.jpg

I am not overthinking it, it just takes deserved 4k away, if it doesn't count as win for survs then why killer doesn't get merciless, its required for iridiscent emblem, adepts and multiple challenges? Way too many things rely on you getting 4k, if you want some "objective" reason why hatch is unfair. But once again, losing deserved 4k just feels bad for me thats why i want hatch removed. I absolutely never slug last survivor if i am not going to adept because thats waste of time but that doesn't mean i am okay with what happens.

Also dev absolutely ignores both killer and survivor side of the problem focusing it on "its mean to finish a game". I am sure they can come up with other mean to finish game if they want, more interactive one, that's absolutely non-issue.

  • My takes:

    1. There is no such thing as "genrush" or "tunneling", its just players doing their objective in the game in most efficient way possible, and you shouldn't ever blame players for it.
    2. There is so many means against "tunneling" in this game(including perk that literally takes hook phase away from tunneled person) that survs complaining about it are just low skilled(meaning blaming it for their loses, not just being annoyed by it, which is fair)
    3. "anti" systems are unhealthy and just toxic, if you want players to stop commiting to certain playstyles you should make others more viable and efficient. BHVR sometimes take steps in right direction(PTB tunneling reduction changes around a year ago, if it was just elusive for unhooked survivor+buffs for killer doing unique hook it would be nice changes, but of course they had to add "anti" system that just removes ability to kick gens for killer if they tunnel. That's unhealthy and its absolutely right changes didn't make it to live)
    4. Hatch is extremely toxic mechanic for both sides, for killer it takes deserved 4k away and for survivors it makes last 2 survivors just stealth hoping another one will be caught earlier so they get a chance for hatch. Needs to be reworked.
    5. Oni is absolutely strongest killers in this game should be, survs have clear and fair counterplay(delaying first hit as much as possible) but killer itself is capable of winning even against really strong players. Everyone who is stronger like ghoul or nurse are just unhealthy for the game that make general game balance adjustments much harder and create unfair perk nerfs situation like ultimate weapon when good perks becomes garbage just because its op for nurse.
    6. Killer power and difficulty should not have any correlation, its should be entirely up to player what kind of killer they want to play as, something more complex like singularity or blight, or simple like ghoul or legion. "Being hard to play" doesn't justify OP killers at all.

  • BP were inflated cause of that bonus and bhvr hated it for some reason(idk why its not like amount of free BP affects their earnings, maybe less people started to come back to the game during 2x bp events)

Most of us play both roles, and are able to see the problems clearly

Because all takes are biased toward survivors when game balance is already wildly surv sided? People just use this thread to "i want bhvr to make unbalanced changes toward my side because I am bad at this game but still feel bad when I lose"

  • @Your_Dad_Playing_DbD said:

I’m fine with Dead Hard (press E to outplay) as long as NOED (free kills for playing poorly) exists. I think both are bad for the game and either need to be reworked or eliminated.

NOED? Almost no one runs it nowadays and literally no survs care about cleansing totems to prevent it. NOED was literally desperate measure of m1 killers since there was no so many strong slowdown perks(almost none in fact) and they physically couldn't prevent 5 gens even if they won every chase in 30 seconds. Its no comparison to dead hard.

Dead hard is fine honestly, its always frustrating to hit into it, but 80% of survs fail it, its always hilarious to see 3 dead hards in aftergame stats which you didnt even notice

  • I dont think ttv are any different from normal players. But I consider it really toxic when they dont save their streams and playback function is turned off! What? How does any of what I said show that hatch is an issue? The problem isn't wanting the 4k, its intentionally creating a bad game experience when you don't have to and have already won. Its the definition of entitlement. We see killers all the time say that survivors shouldn't care about winning or they should consider winning something other than escaping. Yet when it comes to themselves they must win at any cost and it must be a 4k? Its hypocrisy. Devs can't fix something the playerbase won't let them fix and its not like we haven't tried, its been considered a problem for years.

Hatch is what forces slugging, hatch is a problem, what else did you mean? Do killers slug because they are evil and want all survivors to feel bad and suffer and they just toxic people who should be banned from this game?

Also i still FAIL to see how wanting 4k is an entitlement. Its what games wants from you. Its a win. Would you agree with a mechanic that auto sacrifices last survivor? No? Not giving killer even 1 kill when you already won? Surely you are entitled person.

  • @hermitkermit said:

I’m not opposed to replacing hatch with some other endgame objective if the goal is to eliminate hatch standoffs but I disagree with the idea that hatch is “giving a survivor a win with 0% effort.”

If a survivor reaches the point where hatch is an option, they’ve already made it to the end of the match. In the overwhelming majority of those cases that only happens because they contributed enough throughout the game to still be alive whether it’s from gen progress or doing well in chase.

If anything, hatch is just the survivor equivalent of things like anti-camp and certain  survivor perks being deactivated in end game for the killer sake, giving them a better chance at securing a kill.

You can argue that hatch should work differently, (and I agree!) but I don’t think it’s fair to single it out as some uniquely undeserved mechanic when DBD already has similar things to give both roles another chance to get at least one win.

Sigh, honestly i am already kind of bored of arguing, you guys have those weird assumptions that makes me feel like either you just want to feel better about yourself or straight do not play a game. Simple experiment. For 20 games, at the beginning of the match hide in the locker/ctrl in the bushes until first chase. Rest of the game play normally. Then do this again but play whole game normally sitting on a gen at the beginning. Then compare how much times you was the last one standing. Get back to the thread with the stats if you want to continue that "last standing is the skilled one!" argument.

Hatch isn't survivor equivalent of endgame because killer still has to put effort in the endgame, in fact its your normal dbd gameloop with a chase and hook. Also you have a choice whether to camp last hook or try to get more kills. And even if you just camp, unless you play bubba, survivors still have solid chance of unhooking safely. Its much more interactive that just win button hatch is. Maybe if killer could find an orbital laser that auto aims at one random survivor and obliterates them that would be fair equivalent.

Because it is bad for the game, I have friends that quit after one too many times being slugged for the 4 (or they only play killer now). I am a survivor main turned killer main in large part because of slugging for the 4k. You already have a complete win with a 3k, more is just ego stroking.

I would be ok with it being implemented, ideally only once we get down to the 2v1 but the level of vitriol we would see from a large segment of killer mains if the game ever implemented a way to kill the killer would be astounding.

Yeah, thats why hatch is an issue. Honestly what kind of logic is that, killer wanting 4k is bad for the game? Why 4k is still in the game then? Devs are the ones who should fix it, not the players.

And of course i am talking about 2v1 scenario, letting survivors to defeat killer at 4v1 is batshit insane

1 2 3 4 … 6
