When you see some of the threads here its easy to get the impression its less about balance and more like modern perverted politics. Its not about objectively best solutions and mostly dumbass activism on both sides blindly trying to one up on each others. Even the all popular no true scotsman fallacy gets thrown around like mad as soon as you disagree with anyone with mostly similar opinions.mercilessone said:

This is even more true when it comes to balance, just DC and Reviewbomb until a mid-tier Killer gets beaten up with the Nerfhammer like Freddy. -

Actually I've been fairly tame for awhile now compared to some of my more acerbic and highly sarcastic commentary from earlier in my tenure here. But I guess when you get older you have to start acting somewhat respectably.

As a survivor you really can't do much to prevent it. Yes it kinda does, doesn't mean its unbalanced. Consider the fact that its the only crutch in the game that can be deactivated before it has any chance to take effect, especially against a competent team where you need a 4th functional perk more than ever.
If DS was a token system that required multiple successful escapes or unhooks then it'd be balanced too, however that wouldn't change the fact that this still is bad game design and ultimately unhealthy for the game. -
NOED is balanced but i still think its questionable and should probably be removed or changed (along with survivor crutches). It hurts your performance by lacking a perk till the endgame on the bet that survivors are stupid enough to leave dull totems around.Tsulan said:

Gen-Tapping is a legit tactic IF you have no skill and are shameless. Its slower than learning great skillchecks and shows an unwillingness to improve.
Just let gentappers be gentappers, and don't bother saving their asses cause chances are high they are the least valuable teammate and don't want to learn anyway. -

The mechanic wasn't intended to let survivors get away with any consistancy. It only exists for the reason to make sure the Killer can't carry you to the basement all the time, hold the game hostage, chase survivors while carrying you and give sabo a purpose.
Its more of a failsafe than anything. -
