I have the same thoughts about it for the most part, although there are some very valid points out there. Namely:

    • It's way harder to deal with solo where you can't ask the other people how many totems they did.
    • The 'counter' to camping is to do gens and leave, but if you do that, you aren't cleansing totems and you risk a second person dying to NOED.

Granted neither of those are really unsolvable issues, the latter being fairly rare in my experience, but they are very fair points and I don't think they should be completely ignored just because you're alright with the way it works.

Would a totem counter not be a good thing to help fix this. It won't make any difference in a swf team since they already know how many totems are cleansed and their locations. It would help bridge the gap between solo and swf teams.

If killers want something as compensation couldn't we allow them to see all totem auras, with the hex totems being in white. This would give them massive information on where the last totems are for noed. If a survivor cleanses a totem it will tell the killer their location.

  • Mads Mikkelsen is a better Hannibal Lector than Anthony Hopkins. Also the tv series is 10x better than the movies.

Bubba was A tier (before the change).

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

Rey kissing Kylo Ren was a terrible ending to their story.

This is the most balanced Dead By Daylight has ever been.

Call Of Duty Black Ops 1 was the best Call of Duty game.

Think that's enough lol not sure how much will be considered controversial but I tried.

  • Not gonna lie I'm not immediately against this. Nice incentive to rush gens while the killer is tunneling or camping a survivor.

  • It depends. If he let's them live then you can. If he kills them both then he's just being extremely smart.

I'm assuming your friend was just hiding the whole time which is probably why he did it.

    Did he kill them both?

  • 👏👏👏

  • It would be broken, especially with how annoying it can be to reveal him sometimes. Sometimes you need to let him stalk you in order to reveal him so not knowing whether he got enough off you or not is a bit broken.

I think not knowing how much you've been stalked is already pretty good on him.

It honestly seems like he’s just tired of toxic swfs (which I can understand) but you don’t need a swf to deal with face camping/hard tunnelling killers. It mostly just requires brain cells and abandoning altruism. A survivor is on a hook for 2 minutes if the other 3 do gens that equals 3 whole gens (not counting the time the 1st survivor was in chase for).

So the killer could potentially be looking at 1/2 kills with no chase points and a garenteed depip at red ranks. Whilst the others teabag and flashlight click at the exit gate. I would assume they’d also depip at red ranks since they’d have not many points either and that would be an issue.

Ino how to counter it but the thing is in swf you can easily get everyone to escape.

Trading with the hooked survivor when they are about to die while the others rush gens. Unless they are an extremely good killer for camping you should be able to pull it off.

  • I'd say it's more cry baby biased tbh

  • Well everyone get yourself a 4 man swf squad now. Say where you play, leave your names and create your swf squads here. Best way to deal with campers and tunnellers.

  • I've been it too lol the survivor was complaining that I was guarding 3 gens. Funny part is that there was only 2 gens and they thought there was 3. If they walked to the other side of the map they would've found the other 2 gens.

  • I've pressed the delete button. Though with how buggy my button is I've probably deleted something else by mistake.

  • Well this is an easy one to answer:

    • Lobby times will increase
    • Hardly anyone will choose to face swf unless they are bringing a sweaty build
    • Babies swfs get punished since the killer will be more sweaty
    • You didn't specify if it's all swf teams. You need to confirm if you mean this.

There is a hundred and ten reasons why this is a bad idea.

  • @Heartbound said:

I think there's an unwritten law in this game that if you're one of the only people who bring a blood point offering the killer will always find and eliminate you first.

I've had this a lot lol always find that people who use map offerings live to the end

Go through the proper reporting channels and hopefully that player in particular won't be an issue anymore.

Still dumb how this issue still hasn't been resolved entirely, though. They did it for the basement stairs, I don't see why they can't do it in general.

I don't believe they'll do anything. The last time I reported someone I sent the youtube link and a ticket. Nearly a month ago and it still hasn't been viewed so I find it hard to believe they actually did anything.

I mean, thats what they said. Thats not what the picture shows, really.

The picture and original post also doesn't show or tell what led up to that point. We don't have a lot of information here.

The information is that they got stuck there because one went to cleanse a totem and the other went to give them an item.

They were stuck there for 10 mins as we tried to save them.

  • @SloppyKnockout said:

I mean, you can't really complain about it. She lets you guys out, one of you probably escapes. You guys basically handed her that victory. The end game was up so, it's not really taking hostage either, lol.

They were held there from 3 gens left lol

  • As I always say.. solo q forces people to play swf.

Never said that all SWF were god tier gamers

Never said that killer was unbalanced

SAID that rank does not equate to skill

Now why would I think this way

Because I think it would be a good addition for the killer to know they might have the off chance of facing a fabled 4 man sweat squad before the game starts so they could bring something better or dodge if they are a coward.

However this will BALANCE OUT THE BLATANTLY STRONG THING with a mediocre thing that will tell people prep better for the match or get out.

Even a crappy 4 man swf is more powerful then 4 solo survivors and is above the killer in terms of who has an advantage. which is why killers should be able to better prepare.

I never said they were god gamers either. Your trying to imply they are at a massive advantage, enough that the killer needs something to help them out. You literally said at the beginning "most 4 man swf groups bring map offerings" which isn't true.

Wow the all capital letter sentence came out. Seems like I struck a nerve.

Just think for a second about this. Imagine you played in a 4 man tomorrow. Each of you mentioned in your profile that your in a 4 man with the rest of the team. Your either getting dodged, broken add-ons or a mori. Your probably also going to be seeing the exact same killers every single game which will get boring. There is the exception where someone will feel confident in themselves and play the game normally but that won't happen often. This would still happen to a lesser extent if you said you were a 2/3 man swf.

Btw if the killer chooses to dodge that doesn't mean they are a coward.

It seems like no matter what I say or you say we're going to disagree. I'm leaving this here since we're both just talking to brick walls at this point.

  • Seems about fair

Rank isn't a good measure of skill and never was its more a measure of how much you play month to month.

That sounds like balance to me both sides being strong is better than everyone is weak or the group are weaker for playing in a party.

Killer just seeing if they are swf is way less busted then survivor seeing killer and killer not being able to switch, oh its a trapper red twine maps or rainbow maps with slippery meat terrace, most killers have so many simple counters that people having complete loadouts against them to ruin their day.

Literally listed good reasons you just don't like any of them because you don't care that the unbalanced thing is unbalanced and killers deciding to bring a green and yellow addon instead of two browns for a casual match is scary for you.

Ranks do mean nothing that's correct. I'm trying to say if you really believe killer is unbalanced then your incorrect. In those 9/10 games I mentioned you think they were all solo players? They weren't.

Against a really good swf then the game is unbalanced in the survivors favoured but that is extremely, extremely rare.

To me survivor seeing killer and killer seeing survivor are both busted. They both bring unfair advantages that I believe wouldn't work at the highest level.

I'm super scared lol oh no a spirit with green add-ons what am I going to do?! 😂

Here's my main point. 95% of swfs are bad. No matter what everyone tries to tell you this is a fact. So I don't think it's fair that your encouraging a killer to bring an ebony mori (which we all know they will) or busted add-ons like Iridescent Head. I also don't think it would be fun facing the exact same killers every single game because you need to "play sweaty killers to have any chance of winning". I also don't want killers blaming a lose on an "unbalanced" game when it could just be that they played really bad.

I remember telling a story of a 4 man swf I faced recently. I don't know how to link other discussions so here is screenshots of what I said. Most people would've brought a sweaty build or dodged but I was confident in my abilities and wasn't going to make any excuses.

The reason im applying it to killer seeing swf and not survivor knowing which killer is because

    1. killer is on average weaker or equal to a team of 2 man swf and knocked down 1-2 pegs for 3 man and 4 man respectivly
    2. This is a way to balance swf without giving them some sort of penalty or limiting them to how many people they have, how many times they can play together, nerfing gens speed or some other countermeasue.
    3. Survivor seeing killer is way more influential to the game then killer seeing swf. Knowing if its a slug heavy killer means everyone will have unbreakable, knowing its a chase heavy killer will ensure everyone has resilience or iron will, knowing its a stealth killer will have people running spine chill and other killer detection perks, killer seeing swf can just put on a stronger perk or two not a full loadout that would make the match 20x easier for the survivors
    4. killer perks matter more then individual survivor perks, a team of 4 man swf has 16 survivor perks at their disposal well a killer only has 4 having a dead perk as killer is much more influential to a match then 1 of a teams 16 perks not working.
    5. last minute switching would still throw off matches anyway on both sides now going from a wraith vs. 4 flashlights to a lightborn better killer in general.

You may say killer is weaker on average but statistically you are incorrect. I've played a lot of killer at red ranks and you generally get 3/4k in 9/10 games.

It also isn't a balance to swf. Your just encouraging the killer to being an ebony mori or broken add-ons.

I'd say killer seeing survivor and survivor seeing killer are both equally broken. Now that the new matchmaking system won't allow the killer to swap characters I'd say it is definitely more broken on the survivor side.

Sorry but their is no good reason to show whether your facing a swf or not. If you see after the game that it is a swf then that is better. If anything I actually think the survivors names should be hidden in the pregame lobby so the killer doesn't change his build based off someone he doesn't like.

  • MMR Pros:

    • Better teammates as survivor
    • Killers can't swap to someone else if they see a player or team they don't like
    • Better opportunities to learn new killers

    MMR Cons:

    • Going to be facing the same killers everygame I.e. Spirit and Nurse
    • A lot more sweaty games
    • Can't change killer because of items I.e change from hag when you see flashlights
    • Game has too many variables to track a players skill
    • Increased lobby dodging

May be missing a few but this is what I can think of right now.

  • I'll be whatever you want me to be 😂😂

Easiest solution is to just add voicechat to the game. But apparently because some people don't want voice chat and those people would also be unable to find a button to turn it off it's not going to be implemented.

It all depends on the person. I don't know whether I'd like it or not. If you have an option to turn it on or off then I think I wouldn't really care. They'd need to buff killers to balance it.

i played in group of 2 me and my other friend and he added some random to the chat who was waiting in lobby with us with party chat on the ps4 really easy add people last min.

just because never happen to you don't mean it don't happen.

It's easy to do but not common. It's easy for the killer to message people if they want to farm but don't do it.

If you weren't already in a group then it would've took longer. It also depended on their settings, if they wanted to join, if they were already in a group or if they had a mic.

If that's the logic behind balancing outperforming things in the game, then why did they nerf the nurse? The average player did horribly with her. Why balance around the skilled players (besides the obvious logic that the potential of something is exactly where you should balance) instead of average players?

I can understand that this particular suggestion isn't that great cause it hits solo players as well, but the idea that all swf groups aren't amazing so we shouldn't balance around what they're capable of at high skill is ridiculous.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1458989#Comment_1458989

With over 2000 posts, you've definitely seen viable swf balance suggestions. You've just chosen to ignore them or claim they're not viable

    • disabling certain perks for SWF groups (primarily Object of Obsession)
    • only allowing one of each item type per SWF group
    • limiting max rarity allowed for items and addons for an SWF group based on their size
    • adding extra objectives for SWF players while solo players can escape as normal

OMG your correct! I've ignored so many amazing posts that tell people how to balance swf teams because reasons?!?!

Let's take your suggestions one at a time.

    • Object should be changed or removed, not just banned in swf teams. No perks should be banned from swf teams.
    • The 4 flashlight teams are usually the easiest to beat. Extremely easy to bait. This is also the same for sabo squads.
    • Can't wait to tell the baby survivors that they can't use certain items because of being in a swf. If your mainly implying stuff like instaheals you can avoid them by playing smart.
    • Extra objective just for swf teams? Again your just punishing players for playing with their friends. How would you balance this around 2/3/4 man swfs? This suggestion isn't really anything since you haven't specified what it would be.

So far all I see is punishing baby swf teams while only creating minor inconveniences for good swf teams.

No I'm not sick of swf posts, I'm sick of failed "solution" attempts. Swf may need dealing with but no one has came up with a good solution to it.

This. It doesn't matter what kind of penalties come up with, if you really want to circumvent them you can just go solo, have everyone press the button at the same time and then keep dodging until everyone ends up in the same lobby.

Any nerf they try and do to swf will either by easily countered or harm solo players even more. That's why I'd rather buff solo q and killer at the same time. Try and bring everyone up to a similar level.

I agree, killers just use SWF as an excuse for losing. I know because I’ve done it before, I’ve seen streamers do it numerous times.

If anything I would say the majority of SWF I go agajnst are EASIER to go against than solo players. They tend to waste so much time hovering together to get flashlight saves or pallet saves, you can bait them for free hits over and over.

They also won’t leave even one person behind, often turning 1 kill games into 4 kill games

Exactly. Swf is literally the "I played bad but it's not my fault" excuse. Here's an example why I always say 4 man swfs aren't always good.

Nearly a month ago I faced a 4 man swf. All 4 players were called TheOld something. They were clearly a 4 man swf. Funny part is I saw one of them give Tru3talent £30 shortly after lol They had 4 Sprint Bursts, 1 Unbreakable, 3 Adrenalines, 1 Spine Chill, 1 DS and 2 Prove Thyself's. They even got Thompson House as their map. 3 red ranks and 1 purple rank. I was playing as Pyramid Head at P1 so I didn't have the best perks unlocked for him yet. Guess how the match went?

I absolutely destroyed them. They were quite possibly one of the worst 4 mans I ever faced. Many people would've dodged that lobby but I decided not to. I've faced every single toxic swf build you can face. All Flashlights? Beat. All Medkits? Beat. Sabo Squad? Beat. All Head-on? Beat. If your a good enough killer you shouldn't get destroyed by these teams. You very rarely get the full 4 man sweat squad people try and convince you is common.

This is why I always say that not every swf are good. Even if you lose to a sweat squad you can still find mistakes in your game where you should've done better.

Especially since 4 man swf is a minuscule percentage of all games. And even then the tryhard ones are less common.

But every game yeah totally 4 man swf every game.

Very few games are 4 man swfs, even less are good and even less are actually running sweaty perks.

Played one game today and got 4 people same language. 100% swf ratio today, plz nerf lol

    @CashelP14 isn’t wrong though.

Yes, I’ll agree that SWF presents high amounts of challenge sometimes, and it takes a killer quite a long time to adjust to the behaviour of highly coordinated expert survivors. Which explains why there are so many complaints about SWF: they’re difficult to deal with. But they CAN be dealt with.

It is possible to use their coordination against them because there is usually a list of guaranteed predictable behaviours these groups exhibit.

The only truly broken things in the hands of SWF are OoO and Head On, but even then all that needs to changed are the perks, not SWF itself.

(Oh and 1 player with a rainbow map, and another with a key. That’s a bit broken too)

Thank you. If I see a swf discussion where they actually suggest a good change then I'll happily agree. I won't agree though that every single sef solution suggestion until now has been terrible.

OoO needs to be changed 100%. Big maps like Ormond and Disturbed Ward need changed 100%. Keys and Moris both need changed 100%.

Oh, I'm sorry... You're sick of reading posts about SWF everyday? It goes to show how big a problem SWF is.

Every one of those posts has a killer sick of playing against SWF; and not every killer who is sick of it bothers to post.

No I'm not sick of swf posts, I'm sick of failed "solution" attempts. Swf may need dealing with but no one has came up with a good solution to it.

Also saying all these swf posts show just how big the problem is also isn't correct. When freddy was buffed wasn't their a load of posts asking for him to be nerfed? He wasn't considered a massive problem so he wasn't.

I've thought of running certain meme builds like basement hag, that actually sounds like a lot of fun. I will try out some of your combos.

Not basement hag.. that isn't a fun build. Anyone who says it is, is a liar lol

  • Run a meme build. I personally had fun running just Lightborn on Legion and I put it in the 3rd slot so it looked weird.

Other ideas include running Monstrous Shrine, Distressing, Territorial Imperative and Mind Breaker on Clown. The idea is to run the worst perks on the worst killer. Could also use Zenshi Tactics or Third Seal.

4.6m/s add-on Nurse with perks like Spirit Fury, Enduring, Haunted Grounds and BBQ.

  • I'd say:

    1. Play swf. Will help a lot with those problems.
    2. Swap to killer. It's a good change of pace.
    3. Run meme builds. This means if you die you shouldn't care.
    4. Play Dark Souls 3/Bloodborne. You'll then have something else to get stressed over.
    5. Watch youtube/twitch
    6. Watch other "content" then have a nap. Good hour nap should suffice.
  • No offense to you but your a prime example of how bad the ranking system is. At max you've been playing this game a month, yet your already rank 8. From the games pov your already near red ranks, after just 1 month.

You shouldn't be anywhere near rank 8. I don't mean that to be horrible but you haven't played enough to get properly good as killer. Your not equipped to deal with the challenges your rank gave you but the game doesn't care. It's want to show it's rewarding players even if it's too soon.

  • I think there are more campers and tunnellers at high ranks. The thing about low ranks is that they don't know how to camp or tunnel properly so you don't even need ds usually.

  • Not everyone plays swf. Don't believe what every killer main tells you lol

  • Problem is mate all the veteran players have seen the bad teammates they get at red ranks so they create a swf with other veteran players.

Matchmaking on both sides is causing your problem.

  • @Fiv55 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1458862#Comment_1458862

there is a tool on the darkside of the internet that checks the steam profiles + friendlist (if public) and tells the killer if they're an swf.

One of the many broken things that pc players can take advantage of.

  • So how about we apply your logic to survivor. Here are reasons why the survivors should know which killer they are facing.

    1. The ability to bring the correct item to match the killer your facing.
    2. The ability to not bring dead perks against certain killers.
    3. If I'm playing a survivor I'm not used to I can then be prepared. Being a taller character or harder to blend character will make it tough so I might want to change to my someone else.
    4. Lets me anticipate a map offering. Seeing a stealth killer might make me except a hawkins or a lerys offering.
    5. Let's me know if I should dodge a lobby. Maybe I don't want to face Spirit every single game so let's dodge!

You see how everything I said is basically the opposite to what you said? You see how your idea won't work. Let's actually add more.

    1. I know the killers name. This could be someone who will target me or is toxic so I can dodge or bring stronger items.
    2. Let's me know if the killer is good or not by checking their trophies. This means more sweat or dodge.

This is what will happen when a swf joins the lobby:

    • Killer swaps to someone stronger.
    • Survivors change perks and items to compensate.
    • Killer swaps to someone else.
    • Survivors change their perks and items to compensate.
    • This goes on till the killer last minute swaps or until someone dodges.

I'll say it again. 95% of swf teams are bad so your just punishing bad players who want to enjoy playing with their friends. When I play with my mates I don't want to face Spirits, with really good add-ons and an ebony mori every other game. This one change would drive a lot of people away from the game.

So I should just camp 3 gens since the beginning? gonna try it.

Can try slug but is almost a guaranteed derank.

Not exactly just camp 3 gens. Choose an area that has 3/4 gens in the middle and just control that area. Force survivors into this area to waste pallets but also make sure these gens don't get touched.

Slugging isn't going to be a depip unless you 1 hook everyone. It actually gets you a lot of brutality points because your hitting survivors multiple times. At worst you'll black pip but that means nothing when ranks means nothing.

Here's a video I did on 3 gen strats. This was when I was trying to show Bubba was an A tier killer so he's the only killer you'll see. You'll see how I create 3 gens and get pressure off guarding the area.

    https://youtu.be/esYG8oR3_M0

  • Slugging. If you down a survivor then see another you should try and down them. Slugging is extremely strong and with perks like infectious it's even better.

Guarding particular gens in one area makes your late game extremely strong. The 3 gen strats are excellent.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1457740#Comment_1457740

The reason why so many survivors are trash at red ranks is because this game holds their hands, they have no incentive to get better, they can be absolutely trash at this game and still rise to the highest ranks in the game. It's not that it takes skill, it's that it doesn't take skill to succeed as a survivor. You don't need to learn much as a survivor, most maps give survivors enough pallets that you can just run to each pallet, not loop it, drop it early, then move on to the next pallet and by the time you've thrown down all the pallets, all gens and the exit gates will be done.

The things the killer can do to counter survivors are against the survivor rulebook, like camping and tunneling.

Disagree massively mate. Here's the main reason why trash players make it to red ranks.

If I'm playing killer I want to get 12 hooks. If I'm facing a team of babies this is incredibly easy. The problem is if I do this then the survivors get a lot of points for saving, healing and gens. So even if I destroy them they probably will black pip, or pip. When I play survivor if I destroy a killer they depip since it probably means they only get a few hooks. Nothing to do with incentive. Getting to red ranks isn't difficult but being good enough to beat killers there is a different story.

Saying you don't need to learn as much as survivor is also a lie. Getting good with killer takes the same amount time as survivor. The game has multiple killers but when you know how to play killer in general, playing a new killer doesn't take as long to adjust to. I'm a rank 1 killer so when Pyramid Head came out it took me about 10 games to get pretty decent with him.

Also imagine trying to say that just running and dropping pallets is enough. That's why all these bully swf squads just run and drop pallets immediately. Since they are smart they know they don't need to loop so they just throw pallets immediately, save effort then escape.

  • I always have to say this but unfortunately when people try to think of "solutions" to swf they never get it right.

95% of swfs are bad. They are extremely easy to bait and beat. There is only a select few groups who are actually good.

Removing Pallets, decreasing number of perks, increasing gens, increasing repair times, tell killer they are facing a swf, 1 of each perk per person, separate ques and disabling huds all aren't solutions to fixing swf.

Sorry it seems like I'm being harsh but I'm just sick of seeing the exact same post every single day when no one has put forward a decent solution. The main problem your post is some maps has virtually no pallets. Somebody put up a post earlier today where a map only had 8 pallets, meaning a 4 man would only have 4.

You always have to guess , but if their are friends on steam, the odds that their are SWF are quite high but yeah that always a guess

Yea if they are then fair enough but I don't think you can check friend lists that quick before a game.
