It's definitely a bug. You should report it in the dedicated section.
Although, before everybody gets up in arms, it's not gamebreaking. Very situational and worse than running stronger combos.
-
The advice is usually the same. Play enough solo survivors at red ranks and you'll soon enough find new enthusiasm to play killer again.
I play killer to smack some survivors not to break pallets, jump over windows, and do circles around some shack until I get dizzy.
Well, this is the game we got. What do you even expect them to do? To just stand still so they're less inconvenient for you to clobber them?
Idk, maybe the game is fine the way it is and the devs can`t really do anything to change it. I believe the game was supposed to be a horror game but it`s not.
What it was supposed to be is a moot point. The game is successful because it's the way it is.
-
This would actually be a killer nerf and this forum would riot within two days if this change went through.
The hatch spawning early allows the killer to find it before killing the next-to-last survivor.
The issues you're complaining about are caused by keys predominantly, rather than by the hatch itself to any degree.
-
Body is 1 character too short.
-
A lot of r/whoosh itt.
-
It's still too weak. It needs a solid number buff.
-
There was another thread where many reported the challenge not being credited via unhooks.
I had the same issue. I finally got it in a trial where I finished two gens and got two unhooks. So, unfortunately I can't tell if I got it because of the gens, or because of the combo with a rescue, or even because I did all four..
Hope this helps, even if it's not much.
-
BT is meant to give the rescued one extra life to survive the immediacy of the unhook.
Nothing stops tunneling. It can only be delayed.
-
As killer, I dodge lobbies only if I'm doing some specific mission.
As solo, I dodge whenever I see some matchmaking ######### ery. Such as teammates with below 100h. Yes, that happened a lot lately.
-
In the lobby specifically? Only inappropriate names. And they have to be something heinous.

I wasn't playing yet when Doc had these two modes, what were they that made his camping so strong?
If you stayed in treatment mode and constantly tapped m2 against the back of a rescuer, you could instantly interrupt and grab an unhook attempt, even if they canceled immediately.
-
I don't wish more stealth on either role.
-
Small Game for solo.
Detective's for swf.
Counterforce for Thrill of the Hunt.
-
The status effect is to remove red stain and TR. Then a name is attached to that.
You're reasoning could just as easily be reversed to argue that the name should change.
You can call it sneaky status effect, if that feels a better name for something that procs perks.

To avoid hostage situations.

the routine for the killer client activating the hit should NOT be there anymore to begin with. The effects should be activated be the hit validation saying there was a hit.
How?
Yeah, but bhvr is not the quickest at fixes and updates.
However, due to the inavoidable nature of latency, some undesirable effects will still remain. For example, if the client waited for the hit to be validated, like survivors' already do, then the killer might see some hits being credited with noticeable delay.
But, I guess, nothing is perfect in this world.
-
Can you name any game that penalizes players for playing with their friends?
Honest question. I don't know of any, but if there were examples maybe we could learn a lesson or two from their successes. Or failures.
-
The killer's client plays out the on-hit VFXs and SFXs before waiting for the hit validation. Probably a relic of the old p2p days and early dedicated servers when the killer was the authority over hits.
However, now the server is the sole authority to determine if the hit actually landed or not. E.g. before or after stuns. If the hit is denied, the health state is not taken away (or it may actually be refunded on the killer's screen. I've never paid attention to the hud. But again, it's merely visuals).
It's notable with this whole system old and new, that the survivor never was the authority over hits or even stuns. So, they see either one only after it's been validated. This leads (led) to those scenarios, for example, where the survivor saw the pallet fully down, the killer swung afterward, then the hit registered and then a very delayed stun played out.
Now, both sides share the same burden. Whoever tells to the server the performed action first takes priority. Even though, the visuals of the interaction could be misleading.
-
It's the ever-present perk of he-who-shall-not-be-named.
It's not going to be changed.

How about playing killer, hitting a survivor, hearing him scream, seeing the hit visually, and then seeing that the game decided it wasn't? Where is the killer's fault here? How can I even plan the moment of the impact if the game can cancel it at any moment so that the survivor does not get upset? I play both sides, what is happening now is not normal.
How about playing survivor, you pull down the pallet, you see the pallet down, you see the stun score event, you see the killer swing after the pallet is fully down and you get hit from the other side? How's that the survivor's fault, even if that has happened for years?
The new system.simply makes it the same for both sides. The player who completes the action first and communicates it to the server first takes priority. Contrary to what happened before where lagging killers could get ridiculous hits.
The visual feedback of the interaction needs to be improved, I agree. But from a gameplay standpoint, there's no preferential treatment for either side.

Legion for beginners?
I thought lehion is on of the harder killers, why would you recommend Legion?
If you mean harder as in not the strongest, that's true.
That's not my point, though. A beginner needs to play something that forces them into learning how to run tiles correctly and to take optimal decisions at a macro level. Legion's power allows that to happen while still offering some benefits.
Other killers possess powers that are disruptive to that learning process because they are game altering. If one was to play them optimally, they would not be exposed to the fundamentals of gameplay very often, or at least not as often as with Legion.
It is my personal opinion, though.

When I clearly get the hit with better ping it's not fair. The person with the best connection should be right no matter the side whether that's survivor or killer, I'm use to people with bad connection but it doesnt revert a whole health state, eat a stun, give them a burst in speed all while you had the better ping. In other games theres a slight delay in bullets, which you fire multiple of so it's not comparable in reality
They don't get a post-hit speed burst if the hit is not validated.
The hit never happens on the survivor' screen until the server communicates it.

Corrupt, bbq, forced penance and a wild card. For me, it's iron maiden for the lols. If you were to be more serious, you could use pop.
-
Count your blessings.
-
Neither. You shouldn't play dbd for a few days and then come back fresh and less frustrated.

*People ask for it to be balanced on both sides* "wow what double standards" you act like killers didn't know it was a problem before and said that it needed fixing, why do you think this "fix" is so frustrating they didn't fix the problem at all just kicked it further down the road
I don't know what you're on about, because in the very post of mine you quoted I stated that the new system treats both sides equally.
And no, the overwhelming majority of times when people complained about the old system, they were talked down and told to aDaPT and don't greed pallets because it was lAtEnCy, all online games worked like that and it looked fInE on the killers screen.
As stated, the same justifications apply here. So, lose the double standard.
For once bhvr made a balanced feature. Period. Laggers won't be carried anymore by stupid hits when the pallets down. Good riddance. Welcome to how we good ping killers have been playing the game for years.

At low loops: just crouch and he can't do anything. At open spaces: just press ADADADAD and he can't land a single hit with his knives.
Can't tell if you're trolling.
-
Aside from not bm'ing and not being immersed there's not much else they can do. The game is asymmetrical. Survivors don't have the power to remove a player from gameplay.

I still cannot believe anyone thinks this is in ANYWAY a good system or that the devs should be excused for it.
That includes you. No one should be punished for what felt like a clean shot. Like this one from @Ruma
This is just absolutely ridiculous. Are you seriously expecting the Killer to time travel into the future to know when to actually use their power or attacks so it looks "right" on the Survivor screen?
"It looked fine on the killer's screen" has literally been the justification for bs hits parroted on this forum for years.
Now, because good ping survivors have one fewer instance of unfair hits, that justification is not valid for them? Double standard off the charts, if you ask me.
If both players have the same ping, whoever registers the action first wins. If either one lags, they get penalized, instead of profiting from it.
-
It didn't work for unhooks for me. I was injured and had iron will. The rescues were also safe 100% (I had time to fully heal them under hook).
It might work for gens, maybe.
-
The problem is not shifted to either side. Previously, latency on killer's side was an advantage at pallets. Now it isn't anymore.
You're not being punished for playing killer. You simply stopped being rewarded for lagging.
-
A pallet stun should already guarantee enough distance barring Enduring.
Any other situation when that doesn't happen, it means the area is a deadzone, or the killer has mobility and can ignore distancing mechanics, which include exhaustion even when stacked on top of the stun.
The issue remains that having to use a resource in such a way that by itself would already guarantee distance only to stack a perk effect on it is highly inefficient.
Not to mention there are many killer powers that require pre-dropping.

I explicitly mentioned in the post that our idea of "fun" holds equal weight but go off
And you also contradicted yourself when you said that someone else's fun doesn't warrant balance changes. Basically your fun overrides others'. Which implies it holds more weight in your eyes.
But I can see from your attitude that you're not interested in having an honest debate. You do you.

40ms or less usually, by the way most survivors I go against are around 80-100 especially consoles they're usually(not always) around 120
I have the same connection or a hair better. I haven't experienced a single instance of a hit getting invalidated.
I get simply stunned, or the hit lands as well. But I never see the blood splatter and hear the scream without taking a health state.
Check if your connection fluctuates. I use netlimiter for this.

If both players have a good connection I shouldn't see the hit go through on my end but it still happens sometimes.
Define 'good' connection, please.

True but I'm just saying, if Survivors have a perk that procs on hooks that works on cages, PH would need one as well. Even if that perk is not exclusive to hooks.
I don't see how one would imply the other, especially in something as innocuous gameplay-wise as additional bp.
PH already has his advantages when using cages.

I read it and if it worked as intended I shouldn't get hit with this since I have good connection to their servers, I dont play unless I do, but I still get robbed of hits so obviously it's not always working as intended
Do you realize that you're not the only one in the pallet interaction, right? If the survivor has as good connection as you or better and IF they stun you before you hit them, then the hit isn't validated. Vice versa applies too. If you hit them first, you will get credited.
There are no sides. First come, first served.

No hook perks work in a cage. This is why it teleports to a random part of the map. Not even Killer hook perks work on the cage.
And if you were going to let any Survivor hook perks work, you'd have to let some Killer hook perks work, too, since it's a Killer power. Imagine PH caging someone & getting BBQ...
WGLF stacks already aren't tied to unhooks exclusively. Cage rescues would just be another activation conditions among many others. This wouldn't introduce any inconsistency with other perks that work on hooks exclusively.

Well, he's also a psychopath and a serial killer. I guess I can come to terms if he's not exactly a role model about inclusivity and diversity.
-
Without add-ons, Blight is better than Nurse. Against competent survivors, that is.
-
There's nothing nonsensical. It's simply an opinion, just like yours or mine.
And opinions are allowed to be expressed and heard.
Here's mine. Fun of everyone in the trial is important, within reasonable limits.
It's cool you're having fun. Your fun is not the end-all and be-all. Hunters were having fun too in Deathgarden. Past tense only. And that because Scavengers' opinions were being ignored. I guess fun was good till it lasted.
Try to be a little bit more open-minded and less partisan. Not everything has to boil down to us-vs-them.
-
No difference on my perspective when playing killer.
You got carried by your McWifi until the change.
Time to adapt.
-
Is the question about fun or 'goodness'?
Fun is subjective. I play him from time to time because I enjoy doing big arc throws over los blockers and hearing the scream of the intoxicated survivor that I wouldn't even see. Others might find him fun for other reasons, while someone might find him not fun at all.
As for viability, he's a 1v1 killer with no mobility.
-
It's normal. You do what players do in any other games. Watch tutorials, ask questions, review your gameplay. The lot.
Take trials as a learning experience, or you'll never improve.

i regularly like playing Clown/Bubba/Trapper, but since I've heard a lot about Spirit I am currently giving her a shot (after the post) maybe it is the killer, plus I think a lot of survivors will not like to hear that but since you learn anti-looping by getting looped I am thinking about doing matches only to train that, I will get called the tunneler from hell, but who cares
mostly I don't commit to looping and head to another survivor, maybe that's one of the reasons I get so easily looped, I mean how I am supposed to learn it if I don't train it ;) (I really don't care about deranking hehe)
I would discourage you to start learning the game on Spirit. Her power is too peculiar and it will not teach you the fundamentals.
I'm of the advice that Legion is the best killer for beginners. They have a little bit of built-in slowdown and, even if they get a free first hit, they still have to commit to m1 chases.
-
"Hey guys here's a way to get around the new thing that was just put in place to give yourself an advantage."
Sincerily,
Every Blight main in existence
-
Not true at all. If you drop too late the hit will register. The stun definitely happens midway down. I've been hit on 30 ping.
-
Go on Hawkings.
-
Pre-dropping is still correct against zoning killers, slowdown killers, Doc, etc.
The issue lays in the nature of the powers. And there are several like that.
-
Cheers💗
-
They should leave. But if you go afk, you already forfeited any claim you can have on the trial. The players who stayed in it are free to do as they see fit, as long as they don't take the game hostage.
