I mean. In order for mmr to work they have to start everyone the same, and work themselves up. Thats pretty basic.
-
Tbh i dont take dbd seriously. So mmr doesnt bother me. Mmr is for the people who like to sweat and be the best. More power to them. Probably means less salt in my games, and more fun.
-
Im against fov slider. Not because i think its a bad idea. I think its needed. Im against it purely because my lack of confidence in some of the devs to implement this smoothly with no bugs, glitches, or hiccups. Fov slider? Now somehow the hill glitch is back.
-
Sometimes you hit.. and it does nothing and youre like. "Wut.."
-
Tbh. The holding shift w counter does frustrate me. Remember when they wanted to take away bloodlust. Could you imagine how much worse the map would be with out bloodlust?

Do you ever feel that your teammates, your friends, could have played better? Do you ever feel that you have to carry them? I've felt that way on many occasions and especially tonight. I realize it was a 3-genning Doctor, but he was rank 14 and left his 3-gen for way too long and still none of them got done. I felt that my teammates had thrown the match. How do you respond to situations like this?
How I responded to this was rather brash, turning off my PS4 and not saying a word to my friends. But after cooling off, I decided to apply the wise mentality of a sports player who I can't remember the name of. It was in response to an interviewer's venomous question, something along the lines of "Does your team perform better when he's on the bench or when he's off it?" In response the player pretty much said, "You're just trying to get a shocking statement out of me. We're a team. When we win we win, and when we lose we lose. Stop trying to pit us against each other." And that made me think also of "Your team is only as strong as its weakest member." Perhaps my anger was the shock-baiting interviewer. Perhaps I'm not blameless when my team fails. Maybe it was my responsibility to teach the less experienced how to play efficiently, and I failed them in that. So the next time you experience the anger and disappointment that I felt towards my friends, keep your spirits high, learn and improve, and hope to do better next time.
No. Because end of the day i enjoy the time with my friends. Escaping or dying doesnt matter to me

In DBD, the main killer skill isn't efficient looping (though that helps). Much like with survivor, those moment to moment loop decisions have a very low skill ceiling and don't actually provide that much longevity to the game.
The actual skill behind killer is time management, and applying pressure. Pretty much the entire killer meta is giving survivors something to think about other than committing to a gen. Likewise, on the survivor side loops are a bit more fun but ultimately good survivor play is forcing the killer to think about something other than tunneling a player down.
As such, if you actually, unironically complain about 'tunneling' your... kinda a bad player? At least, if you blame the killer for tunneling.
You notice this if you watch good players stream. When they get tunneled, they don't go 'dogshit killer tunneling me.' They get mad at their TEAMMATES because its not the killer's fault for playing well. It isn't the killer's job to mediate your experience. Because the entire skill aspect of DBD is meta strategy and trying to keep your opponent off balance, you can't demand the killer to it to themselves anymore than you can demand a tennis player not position to chase the ball for a return: It undermines the entire experience.
'Tunneling' generally occurs when the survivors are not correctly applying pressure or are being extremely sloppy with rescues. A good rule of thumb is you don't go for the rescue until you confirm the killer is not near the hook, and you ensure people are doing gens non-stop to ensure that even if the killer doubles back on rescue for an easy down they lose so much pressure they lose the entire game. If the killer spots you near the hook, don't sit there like an idiot.
And for the love of god don't loop the killer near the hook.
Will some killers still tunnel through this counterplay? Yeah. Will that not be a super fun game? Sure. But it isn't the game designer's goal to make sure nothing bad can ever happen ever. Killers who do this incorrectly should naturally derank and it shouldn't be a problem at any respectable rank. It is a really common issue in most games where if someone refuses to adapt to counterplay the game is boring for both sides. But those games don't burn down their entire design to avoid that, they just ensure they have good ranking systems so people refusing to do anything besides Photon Canon Rush every game will de-rank, rather than banning any highly counterable strategies that create boring 'cheesy' games because they tend to be important for other parts of the game. And Killers being able to tunnel is SO ABSURDLY IMPORTANT FOR DBD.
The killer legitimately does not have time to 12 hook the survivors never eliminating a player until everyone is on death hook. The MINIMUM time it takes to do that assuming the survivors just run straight forward is some odd 8 minutes, ignoring hook travel time (which is such a relevant mechanic its literally why slugging is considered the pressure play as opposed to hooking, slugging disables survivors longer than an unprotected hook and doesn't cost the KILLER time). 3 survivors (assuming the killer has 100% chase uptime) can do 5 gens in about 2 minutes, again assuming no gen travel distance. The time disparity here is... super obviously extreme, and it makes it extremely clear the killer is not intended to avoid taking advantage of bad survivor play.
Its... also a really obvious intentional game design feature that survivors who get caught are easier to get caught again? Injury noises are a thing. Blood trails are a thing. It wouldn't be hard for an unhook to result in an instant heal, or the survivor teleporting across the map. But they didn't do that because tunneling is intended behavior.
And this isn't just inference based on mechanics. In the beta dev diaries they literally talked about tunneling and the killer exploiting the psychology of altruism as one of their main strategies.
Of course, this is also more a problem with solo play, as there is no in game communication or way to share information or coordinate rescues (which involves, contrary to what a lot of terrible SWFs think, not charging at the hook with all 3 people, ezpz win, but timing it so you start popping gens really fast so the killer gets nervous and leaves), but, again, that isn't the killer's fault.
Part of how competitive games work (And while DBD isn't a 'competitive gaming' game, it is competitive) is that they default towards requiring optimal play. The killer does not really have the luxury to be 'nice' until they are willing so hard that its sorta mean to not just end the game. BOTH sides have to assume the other side is bringing their A-game, and while its valid to play more casually, you can't demand the other side does as well when you have no prior relationship and your in a prisoner's dilemma situation where the killer knows if they bring a goofy killer with a goofy strat and don't sweat at hooks they risk just losing the game in 4 minutes vs an uncoordinated but serious group of solos.
Essentially? Calling tunneling out as a survivor is an egocentric problem that pins the blame on what is happening to you on the one person who has no responsibilities towards your experience at all, and causes you to delude yourself into being a worse player because you imagine losing the killer or the killer not chasing you is something your entitled to. But that is a scrub mentality. Complaining about tunneling is like complaining about getting thrown in Street Fighter because you clearly can't throw tech or counter and are just turtling: it isn't on your opponent to ignore the fact there is a super obvious way to beat you just because you don't like that happening.
^ basically this.

I'm opening this topic to understand our friends who play the other role. So i am asking killer mains. But survivor mains also can answer. Different opinions will give us different perceptions. Next time i will open different topic for killers problem and i will ask survivors mains but today lets talk about tunnel and camp.
How are you feeling about tunnelling and camping when you play survivor? And when you get tunnel one after another. Do you feeling mad to that killers or just respecting him tactic and gameplay?
As someone who plays both sides. I dont mind it. Hell i understand it. Does it suck when it happens to me? Yea. But killers need to kill. And i feel like surv mains should get over themselves about it. Or get better at being chased.

...2 times in a single trial. 2 mother ######### times! Like get it once wasn't hard enogh!
This is one of those challenges that make you throw the game and farm it out. Friendly Bill helped me get it when I hooked survivors. He was probably doing 'unhook in terror radius' challenge.
Right? Idk what the devs where thinking. I actually want to see the devs get that one done.

I'm not going to name and shame. If you respond to this thread, please do not name and shame. While some specific Content Creators have been doing this a great deal lately, it has come up before and will no doubt again. Thus, this message is for all of you, not just the most recent offenders (and yes I'm using the word offend). But before I get into this unsolicited advice, I'm going to tell you a bit about myself and why I come to play Dead by Daylight, and/or watch your shows.
Video games, books, comics, and movies are my pressure valve, how I let off steam and escape the real world. There is far too much partisan bickering, tribal politics, and annoying hubris for my taste in the real world. Sometimes it gets so bad that I refuse to watch the news for a week or two, advise my friends that there are topics I'd rather we not discuss for a bit, and mostly just want to deal with my day to day life.
Dead by Daylight, for me at least, is a great game. It is pure. There are good guys and bad guys. There is a struggle. It isn't complex or annoying. We go in and we play. I don't care who you are in the real world. Here we are just Killers and Survivors. There is only the match at the moment. And when I enjoy a game like this I tend to study it, strive to improve, and this leads me to Content Creators. Many of you are very good at the game. Some of you are even funny outside the game. I watch/subscribe to your shows to learn more.
Now we get to the advice. I unsubscribed to several of you today. The reason is simple, you are no longer entertaining nor are you particularly educational. It is like watching the news with partisan politics intruding. There was no value in the discussion either, because it wasn't really about Dead by Daylight anymore, but rather ego. I don't go to your shows to watch you talk about someone else's shows or opinions. I'm there to get your take on the game. I don't need your help to make my mind up about other Content Creators; I will make my own informed opinions. Thus, when you start to sound like you are running against each other in an election, I am out.
My advice to any and all Content Creators is that if you do a "crossover" episode that it be done in a friendly, polite way. It should actually have some value to us even if you disagree about something. By in large, I think they should be avoided. The only "crossovers" I ever want to see are special events and largely ones that are funny, friendly, and self-deprecating. Such things will only improve the viewership of all involved. Mostly, since I come to watch you because of Dead by Daylight, I ultimately want your shows to REALLY be about Dead by Daylight. All of us can sense, on some level, when it is about something else.
Sounds like you should come watch me then. Too small of a channel to really be notice by big people. I dont care about their opinions. I just wanna play the game and have fun. Even if i lose. (Cause im still bad at the game) :^)
-
And as the survivors cried out "please stop camping" the killer whispered "no."

Well memes aside, this would be very overpowered. Even great skillchecks were nerfed from +2% progress to +1% progress a while ago. Giving 4% every skillcheck is full on overpowered.
well yes and no, because if you fail a skill check killer gets a notification. its high risk high reward.

Im not apart of the lgqt community. But i have mine equipped in support of my friends. Some survs are wholesome and point at it or flashlight it. Which i then let them reset or give one of them hatch. Then i get some asshats who just wanna be a dick and flame for having it.

My eyes are terrible. I have keratoconus in one eye and an astigmatism in the other. What that means is, for me, my depth perception is pretty much fubar, and looking at anything is like looking through a drop of water: Lots of light beams refracting from objects and obscuring my vision. I even have corrective glasses, but they do little against the light beams. When all of the colors are muted, dark, and washed out looking this makes it extremely difficult for me to discern what is an object in DbD vs what is a player. While players obviously move, a Still player is impossible for me to descern from the rest of the environment, making me feel like the T-Rex from Jurassic Park. Fortunately Nvidia Freestyle changed everything, and allows me to adjust the color intensity and saturation for more vivid coloring to give DbD a less washed out look. Just by pressing Alt+F3 and selecting the settings I needed made the game playable for me.
Without it I wouldn't be able to play killer at all since all a survivor would have to do is simply stop moving while against another object and I'd lose them. With Nvidia Freestyle however, survivor clothing and skin is much more easily discernible from the environment and overall looks prettier. While the bright maps like the new Coldwind Farms has issues with the settings I'm currently using, I can always turn it off at the press of a button. I suggest you take a look into it and give it a go to customize your overall DbD experience to what fits best for you. If its allowing me to play killer and at minimum, a decent one, then for the rest of you who have better eyesight, it should do wonders. I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks dude!

I was expecting this to be a post about how muted and washed out the colors and textures are and how that affects people, like myself, during gameplay, and was gonna suggest options to help you, but sadly it was just a ######### joke about how bright the new coldwind farm maps are...
Sigh... My advice/insight for people who actually have vision impediments, again like myself, is obviously wasted here.
I would take some advice. Maybe it will help me a bit

Two killers with the lowest skill ceiling in the game.
Twins- proxy camp, getting hits on victor really isnt a challenge unless on pallet gyms
Freddy (pre-nerf)- constant spamming of snares, slow down add ons, basically the easiest killer in the game unless against OoO
I got one question. When did the standard become: how much skill or difficult the killer takes?

For reference, I am in rank 5 and bounce between 6-4; You'd think teammates of that rank would dedicate to the final gen when they haven't been hooked or wouldn't fixated walk towards you. Or even, have the guts to not be scared of a camping huntress. Like, I feel like I'm playing with rank 21s sometimes. Does anyone wanna play with me? I don't have a mic but I have discord.
Ill play a few games with you. I hover around the same ranks as you, and im pretty laid back. Tho i dont take dbd seriously. Add Bullet#7120 on discord. When i get home tonight ill add and see whats what.

One of if not my favorite killer to face.
She actually requires a higher level of skill to play against than most killers. You have to actually understand what she's seeing and hearing and then manipulate that. You're playing proactive against her, not reactive. IE if you're looking for feedback from her you're already playing wrong.
It makes for a very unique chase compared to the rest of the roster.
I agree. I have fun going against her because its not "let me loop killer shack" its more "let me chain loops, and waste time as much as i can".
People forget its never a 1v1. Its a 4v1 always.
-
Tbh, the devs should disable this perk like they would disable maps. Js. No reason not to. Esp when its this gamebreaking.

what is spirit nerf a lot ? mind telling me ? since what i see is useless nerf and this is one of the untouched killer for long time
Addon nerfs. Collusin nerfs. Vaulting nerfs.
-
No. Its unfortunate that it happened to you. But, its a way for killers put pressure on survivors.
Time is against killers at all time. A game can be over in 5:30. But if a killer has one on the ground, chases another, and the one guy goes to pick up his teammate, thats only one survivor on gen instead of 2.
-
Exist.
Not follow the survivor rule book.
Jk
-
None. Survivors need to stop whining about this already safe game.
I know people gonna dislike this, but maybe idk not go to where you think spirit is if you believe she is phasing?
Maybe chain tiles instead of using the same thing constantly and complain about slowing down loops?
Maybe remember its 4v1 game. Doing gens beats all. For spirit she is 110. She cant be in 4 places at once. Sure she can phase fast. But thats it. She got nerfed a lot already. And its okay to have strong killers. Just like its okay for swf to exist.

Shockingly??
Object does counter some killers MASSIVELY
It helps in chases as you can tell teammates where the killer is during a chase
Killers have to go over to you to get you if they want you gone, especially out of there way if you are on the other side of the map
You give the survivors a headstart cos they can see your aura all the time and can see when you are coming over to them, hence the head start.
Wrong I may be, but shockingly so 😅
Yea but the major drawback is aura reading. Sure in the right hands the downsides to ooo doesnt outway the upsides. The perk im refrencing has no drawbacks from survivors.
-
Shockingly no.
-
I am the real most op perk in the game. (Imo) i counter some of the killer roster, and i can even help in chases. Killers have to go out there way to counter me, but i give survivors a headstart. What am i?

Whats more of a crazy concept is finding some people who enjoy the game to give feedback to maybe change my mind. Weird right?
-
It depends.
New nurse vs new spirit. New spirit wins.
500 hour nurse vs 500 spirit. Nurse starts taking the lead.
1k nurse vs 1k spirit? Nurse hands down.
Point is. Nurse has a higher skill cap. But is far more op/opressive.
