Thats not the point. The point is how easy it is for 3 gens to pop in the first <90seconds of the game, and the perk breaking up that burst efficiency.

Yep, on some of the larger maps I've had three gens pop before I can even find the first survivor.

  • @Veinslay said:

Yeah I agree op. People complain about killers being brainless or not taking skill or whatever but it isn't even hard to win as survivor. Just hard split and stay on gens, hold w and predrop. Ez game

There is a definite difference between proxy camping and patrolling as well. Sorry, about to get anecdotal:

I was in the EGC as Trickster and I managed to finally hook a David who had been annoying me all game for the second time, he played well ngl, he traded blows and pallet/hook saved his teammates etc. Anyway, I stepped away from the hook and went to smash a pallet at the other side of the room where he had tried to loop me and out the corner of my eye I saw Mikaela go for the hook save, I managed to chase her away. But I knew she was still in the area so I stood on the opposite side of the room facing the spot where she was crouched, eventually forcing her to leave due to David dying on hook and the ECG timer restarting. In the end game chat, she and David were brutal to me. Saying I was a bad player, missed most of my knives and face-camped him etc. (The other two teammates, a Nea (dead) and a Feng (escaped while Mikaela tried to make the save)

Like, I was on the opposite side of the room and I was throwing my knives in Mikeala's direction, to remind her that I knew she was there and she was just better off leaving. From what I can tell is more like proxy camping or patrolling rather than actually standing in front of the hook. In hindsight, I probably should have made an attempt to down and hook her, but I didn't want to risk her getting a last-minute hook save.

  • My gosh, here I thought the text filter in the sims was bad. But no, this is the worst I've seen in a long time.

They are entity biased, not survivor or killer.

The changes usually misses point or horribly balanced.

At least that's consistent. The entity also enjoys seeing its killers suffer almost as much as it does seeing survivors suffer. Especially if you're new to the game.

  • Just more proof that the devs are survivor biased and that they don't even play their own game. If in the off chance they do, which I hightly doubt, they either don't play at high MMR or don't play killer at all.

  • Given how broken Unbreakable is when paired with other meta perks, I'd say the freak out is kind of warranted. Even more so with the fact that they're removing the ability to green or ebony mori survivors.

To me, these changes just prove that the devs don't play their game and if they do it's certainly NOT at high MMR or as killer.

  • I've gone up against:

    1) Wesker, since he's a new killer it's understandable that he's everywhere.

    2) Doctor, always on his map, the last few I've been against didn't do anything until the gens were complete and then just went ham with his "shock" power.

    3) Deathslinger, is pretty easy to deal with IMHO, but the few good Slingers are a pita.

    4) Seen a few Huntresses, though the ones I've been against seem to be very new and can't land her hatches very well.

    5) Legion, just on random maps.

    6) Spirit, again on random maps.

  • Thanks! I'll work on presteging Billy, I've also been told his other perks are pretty useful as well.

It really is, BBQ is also a good perk.

and Bubba is a good killer.

I've heard good things about BBQ as well, hell I may as well just buy all the DLC at this point. When it's on sale ofc, as the last time I ended up buying the All-Kill, Ghost Face and Silent Hill and all up it only ended up costing the same amount as a new chapter. Has to be some of the cheapest DLC I've ever come across ngl.

I love doing this when they bring 4 flashlights, franklins is really high value. They will often die to get their spicy flashlight back 😎

I'm going to have to get Bubba on the next sale, that perk sounds amazing!

Do I constantly have to turn it on every time I go into a match?

You can set it to auto record the moment you boot up the game or you can make it so you manually start/stop the recording at the start of the match by having it on a hotkey, like say CTRL+F4 or something. If you're technologically inept like me, it can be tricky to get to behave, but once you figure it out it works fine.

Well unfortunately I never record my gameplay because... well idk how.

If you download OverWolf, you can get the add-on called Outplayed. You can customise it to record your sessions in the settings and the like.

I guess this is just a different perspective but I don't really consider lack of communication from survivors to be a feature in the game. So I generally just assume if one survivor saw me that all of them know where I am. If I'm playing a killer where that really matters, like Trapper, I'll sometimes check by doing something like placing a really obvious trap and see if the rescuer either falls in it or disarms it. If the one who was unhooked disarms it, I generally don't think they're communicating with each other because if I were in an SWF I'd have my buddy disarm it rather than me who was just unhooked. It's also a bit of a test for Kindred sometimes.

I just generally don't get why in a team game, the side that's the 1 in 4v1 thinks the 4 shouldn't be able to communicate with each other. I enjoy voice comms not being in the game itself though as I don't particularly want to talk to people I don't know or feel pressured to talk to people I don't know when playing by myself.

I also know that if I'm playing survivor in solo queue and I hear Trickster's lullaby that I'm getting off of the generator to figure out where it's coming from rather than be caught in a dead zone. Especially if we've got 3 people all grouped up on a single generator at the beginning of the game.

Like I said, it could have been a coincidence, but it was just too sus for my liking.

During that match I had Bitter Murmurs equipped and everytime a gen popped, it would always be three people on the gen. While the Mikalea was always sort of off to the side, with a good sight line on possible angles of approach for the killer while also keeping the gen in view as well.

She was also the one who would try to body block the hook when I'd manage to down someone, she was also the one who went for the unhook the most as well.

As for why I'm against VC in a game like DbD, it just gives the survivors an unfair advantage over the killer. In that they'll always know where the killer is in position to gens, so they can plan which gens to do in advance etc. It's very unfair, heck I'd even go as far as to call it a varient of subtle cheating.

If your in a VC to just talk or meme with friends, then that's fine. But using it to pass information that the killer just doesn't have, it's just too unbalanced.

  • @Rudjohns said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3198701#Comment_3198701

Well, the actual effect is just cutting the charges in half (100% more depletion rate) so survivors shouldn't use items inside the terror radius in the first place

Oooh, I get you! :O very good idea.

  • @Rudjohns said:

    Eeer...no

But I would not mind the "Overwhelming Presence" buff idea that I presented

When an item is used inside the terror radius, it automatically loses 10% of its charges

So it means if a survivor clicks a flashlight, it loses 10% for every click

I do like that idea, but what about killers who have a large radius?

Where you playing Trickster? You hear his "lullaby" before you are even in his TR.

Hih, no idea why it didnt quote text the person I was replying too just now. Anyway, yeah I was playing Trickster. And I knownabout his huge radious, but the thing is I wasn't even near the wall or at least close enough to tell which direction I was comming from even if they did hear me.

Idk, I just found it suspicious that I saw Mikalea crouch into a position that had a good line of sight on not just me, but also the LT wall blind gen. Could just be a coincidence, but idk, just super suspicious. 🤔

  • @Underdawg said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3198514#Comment_3198514

Everything dugman said is great. I'll just add that after you've been blinded the first time, you're not stunned in the sense that you can aim your camera to look down (some people prefer to look up). This will prevent you from getting blinded several times in a row.

Sounds like you had a rough go. We've all been there. Sending positive vibes your way.

Thanks for the vibes! I'm fairly certain I was being blinded fron angles that aren't supposed to be possible. Such as diagonally and behind, it's happened twice before and it's really annoying. From what I can tell it seems to be a bug or an exploit, where if you're being blinded from the front and another surv uses the flashlight from behind or slightly off to the side and if youre standing completely skill it still counts as a seperate stun for some reason.

Still, makes me wish that chain stunning wasn't a thing. Like maybe it needs to go on cool down before it can be activated again? Idk. Just an idea.

  • Yep, I literally watched this happen over the weekend. I had just spawned into a map, think it was the Mac Millen estate and I was starting my sweep of the outer gens to just figure out where everyone was, I saw a Mikalea out the corner of my eye. I see her crouch and watch me, next thing I know I see the other three survivors scatter from a nearby gen behind an LT wall. Now the way I was approaching this gen, there was no way in hell the three survivors working on it would have seen me comming (hearing the terror radius is a different issue) so how did they know that I was there, if they weren't in a swf in Discord together? Because Mikalea didn't have a flashlight to warn them. 🤔

Same here. Let's have some fun, try a new killer or a funny build.

    =

No-interaction Commando Elite death squad who have Windows of Opportunity as a fifth perk.

Yeah, and it's becoming super obvious who's in a swf too. Even if they're not good, because of how coordinated they are and how they always seem to be around eachother to rescue etc.

Nothing against ppl who play in swfs, because that's how I started playing DbD. But can you at least have the decency not to be on Discord?

  • @Akumakaji said:

Nah mate, thats beta low-MMR pleb talk. No hating, though, to each their own.

But my survivors are most often tight-knit, well communicating and perfectly coordinated death squads that totally wreck my face. I can sometimes get one or even two, but its no fun. After losing a couple of games things relax a bit and I can actually enjoy the games against a coupld of normal (for me) good survivors, ending most trials with 1-3k, with the occasional 0 or 4k. But should I get a win streak and get like three or four 4ks in a row, the sweat death squads are back.

Also, even in the manageable matches, a lot of them are running DH, and they are using it to great effect. DH, btw, seems to be the best indicator if you are in the higher-ish MMR regions. Last season I smurfed my account for the first time in order to break through the Iri 2 and Iri 1 wall, and once I had lost a couple of games, suddenly the survivors were noticable less skilled and DH disappeared completely. Like, it vanished. Good survivors love the new DH, as it is really strong if used well, but everything below "good" won't touch it, because "its now garbage, nerfed into oblivion".

Had this happen to me today, played some even games in the morning. Took a break for about two hours, came back and suddenly it was like baby hour. I was matched with the same baby Meg for three games and absolutely stomped the rest of the team, could have gotten a very easy 4K but was nice and gave the last survivor hatch each time. Took a fifteen minute break while ai dealt with some irl issues, then I enter into a lobby with a bully squad. They were defeneitly a swf and just ran circles around me, swarming gens, swarming hooks, pallets, body blocking etc. At some point they had me stunlocked for a whole minute with just constant flashlight saves. Wanted to become a killer irl, I was that frustrated. XP

  • It certainly feels like people are trying way to hard sometimes, like trying to be overly competitive in a game that doesn't really support such behaviour. If that makes sense.

Like, when I just want to chill I get paired with sweats. When I'm actually trying, I get paired against baby survs or killers who don't know the map very well. 🤔

Just some quick tips if you’re a new killer having trouble with flashlights and flashbangs

    • If you can always look at a wall or obstacle when picking someone up to make it harder for a flashlight user to get a line of sight on you.
    • If no obstacle is nearby, keep a close ear and eye out if you think you maybe were followed by a flashlight player. You can sometimes hear them running around if you pay attention during the chase. Also if you take a split second to quickly scan the area before you pick someone up, or take a second to break a pallet or kick a nearby gen, you might spot another survivor skulking around for a save as well.
    • If you do pick a survivor up in the open, try and do an unexpected 180 so a potential flashlight player might be behind you instead of in front of you. That way the only way they can get the blind is by running all the way up to be in front of you and the timing is a lot harder to hit.
    • Lastly if you get blinded at a pallet, don’t worry about it, just listen for the footsteps or breathing of the survivor while you’re blinded and you can roughly chase them hopefully. In fact them blinding you means they potentially didn’t get as much distance as they could have had they simply run away so they may even have hurt themselves a bit by doing the blind (although they do get a nice bloodpoint bonus for it so they probably are happy with that. 🤷‍♂️)

The whole BP boost thing is probabbly why they kept constantly flashlight blinding and saves, along with the added bonus of just being unbearable to a new killer... 😑 😒 🙄

Your mmr should be different for each of your killers, and it doesn't reset with rank reset (ranks no longer affect mmr), so feel free to try out any killer at any time !

Trickster's voice actor did a DbD stream last month, he hadn't really played the game before, but I'm not sure if he'll keep streaming or not. (Of course, I wouldn't understand anything, but his voice is nice!)

And yeah, people have been giving up a lot lately. It's just even more frequent on most disliked killers like Nurse, Blight and Legion haha.

Anyway. Best of luck in your next trials, I'll see you in the fog !

Oooh, I did not know that. Thanks! MMR really confuses me istg.

I hope I don't get too many people DC-ing and that I get the chance to play Legion.

Thanks for all the tips and advice. Good luck with your trials and I hope to see you in the fog!

can't take anyone who says they hate flashlights seriously because medkits are soooooo much worse

I hate both. Medkids are so irritating as well.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I know the feeling. When I was new I dreaded flashlights. Billy has always been my main and at the beginning I used Lightborn a lot. You will learn not to be so bothered by them. Now I never use Lightborn.

If you’re chasing someone with a flashie and they drop a pallet ignore it unless you really need to break it. I always chainsaw it because I find survivors usually aren’t as game to try for a blind if I do that. I know that’s not an option though if your playing Trickster. If you can’t face a wall when picking up, patrol the area a bit to make sure no one is waiting for the flashlight save. If someone is trying for the blind I’ll look down and continue to walk to them. Usually they’ll try again and you can get a hit in. Don’t fall for locker grabs if you know you have a team good with them and working together. I’d say avoid lockers as they are probably using Head On too.

If you start using Lighborn pretend you do have it by looking away this makes them think you don’t have it and you usually get a hit in.

Sometimes you’ll just get a team that all have one, are good with them and very annoying but I find they are not in the majority.

I have figured out a few things just by playing, like always pausing for a few seconds near a pallet in case they drop it. Though sometimes there's a weird hitbox or lag issue where I'm nowhere near the pallet when it is dropped and I still get stunned, sometimes the map is so dark I don't even see the pallet until it's dropped like the Silent Hill map or RPD.

I've noticed that if I chase a loop with one of my knives drawn, the survivor tends to hesitate before dropping a pallet because they know I can get them on the other side of the drop, even more so if the loop has short walls. So I guess if I can play around that, I'd have better luck before outright breaking the pallet.

The situation that I was in for and that became the inspiration for this thread: is the downed survivor was near the window of shack, while the rest of their team was on all sides of me. One in front of me on the opposite side of the window, one to the left and the last to the right. I couldn't turn my back to the window because then I wouldn't be able to pick up the surv, and the moment I even tried to slug the rest of the team, the one guy with the medkit would heal up the slug while I was just stunned by a different flashlight. One guy kept jumping in and out of lockers, so I suspect they had Head On, to stun me while coming out of lockers. Their either sucked at the timing or just relied on Flashlight saves, but he was annoying af, even though I'd constantly be grabbing him.

Screw tough skin ! You're allowed to feel hurt when people are being ######## to you. It's natural. You're not any less valid as a player, whatever other people on this forum or elsewhere might say. Games are supposed to be fun.

I wasn't sure about your pfp haha !

You should absolutely try out Legion ! I've been maining them for a few months now, and they're a joy to play. Their add-ons are very varied and lead to different styles of gameplay. My favorites are the Pills and Sketch Mural, that makes your frenzy last very long and make you go faster every time you hit someone. On smaller maps like Dead Dawg saloon, it's really fun to play ! :D

But you also have a lot of status effects you can apply, and changing your chase music with tapes is really fun as well.

(People don't tend to like Legion a lot though, so fair warning : you'll probably have people DCing or giving up on hook sometimes)

Thank you, it's hard to remember that I'm allowed to be angry even at a video game. You'd think I'd be used to it, especially coming from League of Legends. But no, any game with a hint of competitiveness is enough to bring out the trollish and at worst, toxic behaviours in people.

Like I said, I'm just a sucker for the Crazy Artist trope. Not to mention the voice work on Ji-Woon is top-notch, like most killers vocal effects, especially laughs I find grating, Clowns especially (sorry Clown mains but the "laugh cough laugh" is really irritating xO). But I Ji-Woon's voice lines and laughs are pretty entertaining, even infectious at times.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to try Legion when I get the chance. He looks so fun and the ability to vaulyt pallets too is pretty useful. Might wait until my rank resets, before trying him out but will see. Since my MMR seems to be in a really weird spot, in where in one match I'll be against a team of baby survivors and I feel like I'm bullying, the next they'll be competent and have reasonable outplay and no side is stronger than the other. Then I'll have games like the one that prompted me to start this thread, in which I'll be abused for no reason other than "flashlight go buuuuuurrrrrrrrr". Or I can loop you like no tomorrow, while my friends who are in discord do gens, because they know exactly what you're doing Mr Killer-man (or woman if you're playing a female killer lol).

I'm not worried about people DC-ing, I've had people outright suicide on some maps. Like I was on the Doctors Map last week with a three-man SWF. The SWF went out of their way to find me or at least waited for me by a gen, pointed at me then the hooks. So I obliged and hooked them and they suicided immediately. Like I don't know what was going on with them, maybe they hated the map, maybe they hated Trickster or maybe they had some urgent situation IRL to deal with. But I and the final player were just scratching our heads in the endgame lobby, we were all so confused I've also had people DC on death hook too. Which is kind of funny, because they're just that salty about dying.

  • @HugTheHag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3198227#Comment_3198227

I understand, believe me. The first time I went against such a group, I actually went to face a corner of the map and got myself a coffee, because I was so frustrated (and a little hurt, not gonna lie) not to be able to hook anyone. When I came back, apparently two of them had died to EGC, by remorse of because they were tea bagging at the gate, I don't know.

I don't know which killer you play or own, but if you want to get prepared to face such squads in the future, you can think to get Legion with shards. For once, Discordance lets you see which gens are being plowed by several survivors. It's a very good perk in this meta.

But mostly, Mad Grit. If you feel like the lobby is a swf, they're generally very altruistic and will try to swarm hooks, but Mad Grit makes it so that you don't have a cool down on your missed attacks when you carry someone, and any time you hit someone while carrying a survivor, the carried survivor can't wiggle for 4 seconds. Survivors tend to not know this perk and you wouldn't believe how many downs I've gotten because they're like "surely one more hit and they'll wiggle out".

NGL, I was pretty much on the verge of tears during the match, I was just that frustrated. I know, I know tough skin and all that, but being autistic makes dealing with slight annoyances ten times more difficult than it needs to be sometimes. But yeah, getting up and walking away was probably the best thing to do at the time for both of us. Unfortunately, I was unlucky in the EGC, because all of them had the "escaped" icon next to them. It's a shame they didn't try to come and find me to t-bag my face and screw themselves over, but oh well. Adapt and move on I suppose.

I'm a budding Trickster main, in case my pfp didn't give it away XD, I can't help it, I'm a sucker for the insane artist trope. Ahem, anyway, I'm also stockpiling points into Legion atm, because I was watching Otz play him (them?) a few nights ago and Legion seemed like a pretty fun killer to play. And it just seems like a good strategy to have some points dumped into another killer, in case you want to try someone different. Also just having teachable on hand just seems like a good strategy even if they're just low tiers. Looks like I'll keep adding points into Legion, I'm really close to prestiging Trickster to get his tier one perks for my other killers. So that'll be fun, then I'll start dumping perks into Billy and maybe Bubba when the DLC goes on sale again.

Flashlights can be a massive pain in the behind if the person who has it knows more about using it than you do about dodging it. The occasions where several survs have flashlights and trail to get every possible angle for a flashlight save are rare and will more often than not cost them the game - since they don't do gens, as you correctly observed. As for any other flashlight save: you will eventually learn how to dodge the vast majority, even out in the open. Pallet and vault blinds are usually more trouble than worth as well and learning to play by ear to a certain extent helps immensly with not losing much time.

As for macro clicking: yes, that should not be a thing. There should be a limit to how many clicks there can be per second (I think three would be fine; if you use a flashy for communication you usually click at a thing or in a direction three times - and if you need to re-aim you end up clicking once or twice).

Chain blinds: does anyone actually do this to lose the killer / gain distance? --- That could be done away with as well.

In the meantime: Lightborn is one option but personally I prefer Franklin's when I see a four man flashy (/sabo) squad.

That is my main issue with flashlights and just how spammable they are, it's just annoying and it really shouldn't be a thing without consequences. Want to be a dick and click your flashlight rapidly several times in succession, welp enjoy it breaking or being on cooldown for 60 seconds or something.

Not sure how they'd counter chain-stuns, other than giving the killer like 1 or 2 seconds of immunity for the next stun, so you don't get out of one stun to only walk into a second one while trying to avoid the first. This could also work after the pick-up animation has finished playing too, to counteract being pre-stunned.

idk, just trying to think of ways to balance flashlight usage rather than outright nerf it.

I think I'll just dump all my extra BP into Billy and level him up so I can get his teachables.

Annyway, I will say I am getting better, but idk being bullied doesn't feel good. I was so fed up with their bullshit, I went and opened the gate for them and just went to the other side of the map while EGC was active. None of them left until the final few seconds, which tells me their either wanted me to chase them out so they could get more flashlight stuns, chase points or to T-Bag me.

I know this, because I went to get a glass of water to help clam myself down and they were still there when I got back. lol.

  • @HugTheHag said:

Most players don't know how to use flashlights well (I suck at saves, for example).

I get that they can be used to be an annoying little cockroach to the killer, but I wouldn't put a cooldown for the activation. Clicking is also a form of communication among survivors, just like spam crouching, and we already don't have many of those.

I personally prestiged Hillbilly very early when I started playing a couple of months ago, to get Lightborn, since I had bad experiences with flashlights. I suggest you might do the same ?

But it's very rare to find survivors that are so well-coordinated and determined to bully. In fact, most swfs you will encounter will be average at best, not much better than their solo counterparts.

I must have just been really unlucky to encounter this group because they were just being pains in the asses the entire game. A three-man at the very least. Because they all had flashlights, they all swarmed me while I was trying to hook. Like maybe they also got lucky to encounter a newly minted IV Bronze killer, aka me. But man I have never been so frustrated as I was in that match, normally I can let flashlight saves go, but idk, it was just not fun no matter how hard I tried to face a wall or look at the ground they always somehow managed to stun me before the animation was finished or body-block the hook.

As I said, I don't hate flashlights as much as I seem to because I understand why they're there. And as survivor I don't fun them because I suck at doing saves.

I think I'll follow your and others' advice, and just prestige Billy and get his perks, can't say no to more gen slowdown perks.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

You are new killer and you are asking nerf for something instead of trying get good?

Just use Lightborn and try to adept. After a while, you will not need Lightborn. Flashlights are fair.

Not asking for a nerf, just some balancing. Because I'm not the only one who's complained about flashlights. Idk, just not being pre-stunned before the animation even finishes.

Light born though, is that a Billy perk? Do I need to play him to unlock the perk or just prestige him?

I was accused of Camping when a survivor kept running me around a hooked Survivor in the middle of a annoying jungle gym. The hooked survivor died on hook from 1st hook. Then the survivor that ran me accused me of camping the hook and when I said but your the one who ran me around the poor guy they said "Well you should of let me unhook them"

Yikes, if that was the case they should have gone for the save even if you were there, because they're immune during unhooking. Just all of my whats.

I have been accused of camping as Spirit before.....It was on Temple of Purgation and I had a slow start with bad chases and no downs, but I started to hity stride and got 1 Survivor sacrificed. I hooked a annoying David for the first time, I was running BBQ so I was looking around for the other survivors as I was hooking however the last Gen popped and thought I would get 2K and would be happy with that but saw with BBQ both girls were by one of the exit gates and were heading my way. So I went and cut them off and one girl ran through the Temple as I hit her to rush for the rescue, so I took the outside path of the temple. The hooked survivor was on a hill hook and the girl ran to the left so I phased and ran to the right and smacked her just before she could unhook.

The last Survivor was hanging by the exit gate and when I got there we both nodded to each other and she leaves her purple Medkit behind. In the end game chat the girl who left said sorry she could get to him and the David said It's ok she was camping anyway.

I never onced camped that match.

It's just funny how they get so salty when you foil their attempts at a save, they'll accuse you of camping or tunnelling. Especially when they're the ones who have been running you in circles all game because as killer you get screwed over a little. Either by the Boon: Discord or because they got to send you to a really annoying map, like RPD, Auto Wreckers or MPP (my personal hate maps).

  • @VikingDragonXii said:

Here's the thing, the Devs themselves said Camping and Tunneling are valid strats when used in the right setting and they don't want to punish the players who use them correctly when they deal with the toxic Tunnelers and Face Campers.

I have used Camping at End Game and sadly pulled off a 4K because the Survivors pre opened the gate and for some reason didn't bum rush the hook but instead each came in one at a time and I was able to grab them and drop them before the next one showed up.

I also used Tunneling not at 5 or 4 gens but at 3 when I found the Survivor that was using CoH around the map and I wanted to take that off the table asap so I didn't have to deal with that all game.

I have also been victim to Camping and Tunneling.....mind you some of those times I did deserve it and don't blame the Killer for doing it lol.

Yep, did something similar tonight. Finally managed to down and hook someone who had been giving me the shits the entire game, just constantly save camping while the other two ran around and did gens. Like he was doing a good job and I'm not going to fault him for playing the game well, because he did. Anyway, I knew he was in a three-man swf at the very least because he'd always be around a Mikaela just as I was in a chase with her, saving her ass when I'd hook her and the like.

So end game comes, this guy is on the hook and I just know that Mikaela and the other teammate would be around (either a Nea or Meg) and I had no choice but to camp the hook. Like I wasn't that far away, but I was close enough that I could down the unhooking survivor because they were already injured from a chase earlier.

And in the end chat they had the gall to call me a bad killer because I "face camped". Like bro, your teammates were also trying to camp the save. I don't see how the Survivor version of camping is alright, then turn around and say it's bad when a killer just wants to get 2k after having three gens pop with no hooks after getting a lucky down.

What about 4 man or 3 man swf who does not sweat. I mean when I play swf my success is is not really better than in solo as my friends are not that good. My solo mates on the other hand are sometimes insane and loop killer 5 gens and do gens quickly.

I'm not even against SWFs in general, if I didn't play with friends I would never have gotten into DbD in the first place. I mean, if you're not sweating, try-harding or bullying the killer then there's no problem. I've had some super chill matches as killer with SWFs who are just there to meme and have a good time. I played Ring around the Rosy with a four-man swf last night at Dead Dawg Saloon it was hilarious and fun, I got some hits in, they did gens and I opened the gate for them and let them leave.

Those are the kind of SWFs who are fun, not taking the game super seriously and playing like there's a $5000 prize to finish a match as fast as possible while annoying the killer.

What irritates me are the SWFs that abuse coms to "counter" the killer's gen pressure or stop them from hooking. I seriously don't mind not getting kills, but what does annoy me is being denied hooks so I can at least get some BP. And then to cap it off they'll wait at the exit gate, t-bag and use their flashlights to basically "brag" that they did great and I couldn't do anything. It's the poor sportsmanship that really gets me, and I know that you can't do anything about that in an online game, but still it is annoying as heck.

  • Hmm, maybe a fear of dolls or mannequins? Could be an interesting concept for a killer that was a seamstress or a toymaker, who went crazy after a mind-breaking event or they were just always a little twisted.

My sister was scared of people in costumes as a kid, so maybe a killer who wears a mascot costume? Kind of like William Afton from FNaF, where they committed murders while wearing said costume.

I also know people who are scared of birds, but the fear of dogs seems to be more common. So maybe a werewolf/wolf-man inspired killer? Or maybe even a Windigo?

Personally, I'm scared of blood, so a blood-themed killer like a vampire could be fun.

I do believe that SWF is a tool to break the game, simply because gen speeds and body blocks are too much for the killer to handle constantly. The best thing I would do to SWF to make it fair is give them an action speed debuff. At the very least, we could try making gens 5% slower for them, which could be offset simply by running Deja Vu. I know it sucks for people who are "just playing with friends", but if that's their mentality rather than straight-up trying to win, then they shouldn't be worried about it. You playing with friends at no cost should not lead to killers, who know what they're doing, play efficiently, and make few to no mistakes, lose guaranteed to survivors whose goal is to win. If we were to do anything else, like adding another generator to be done, or buffing the killer somehow, it might be too much. So that's the idea I'm gonna stick with for now.

Oh, it completely breaks the game, especially a four-man SWF. It just gives them an advantage that the killer just doesn't have. Which is knowledge of the killer's whereabouts and which gens to go to and when. Two-man SWFs can be dealt with, but any number higher than that, nah forget it. Just better off AFK-ing and giving them the free game that they clearly want.

Like just now, I had two very obvious SWFs back to back. Two Flashlights, two medkits, literally chasing me, clicky-clicking and swarming/camping gens when I'd chase one of them away just to circle back and finish the gen (funny how survivors complain about killers try-harding and camping, but when they do the same for gens and unhooks, it's suddenly amazing gameplay and "stratz" lol). They'd also t-bag me as they looped too. I don't think I even saw the other two survivors until they waited at the exit gate and started to t-bag me. I do love how they felt entitled or skilled for the win because they had information and an advantage that I just didn't have and couldn't compete against.

Again, nothing against normal non-tryhard SWFs, but the people who need to wipe the sweat off their keyboards at the end of the game, really need to go outside and touch grass.

I digress and I agree, there needs to be a system in place that checks for people who are queued together that triggers a flag, in that in a queue of more than two you get less BP for queueing together, even less for chasing the killer and staying too close to gens if the killer is present. Also that the game should in general just go slower for them, deciding to sweat as a four-man SWF then the gens regress faster or they get repaired slower or they need to repair more gens before the exit gate is unlocked or there is only one exit gate and it takes longer to open. Just something to balance it more. Idk, spitballing ideas, but they might be too "broken." :-/

I wouldn't see that as a problem. It takes too long for a new release killer to be built up to fun state, wether perk side or add-on side. Even you got all the other killers at P1, you still need to spend lots of time and BP to make your build viable, lv.1 or 2 perks are just useless in most of the time. If most of the player don't even upgrade certain perks, it 's a sign that they're just too weak or boring, and that provide balance information for the dev.

That is true, I guess I was just thinking in terms of new survivors just being OP too soon. But I guess they'd be in the same boat as me in just trying to figure out what perk and add-on does what and which ones would work for the playstyle they want. And even then, having a three-tier perk or add-on doesn't mean they'll be able to use it correctly.

And the message remains consistent. Your teammates, not because they're out of SWF but because they make bad plays in general, are what causes everyone to lose. This wouldn't happen if we had a better matchmaking system. Kills and escapes are too simple to determine where someone should be placed. It literally works best on fringe scenarios. I happened to kill a survivor who almost always escapes, I get higher MMR. I escape a killer who usually kills everyone, I get higher MMR. Those are scenarios of pure luck, not skill, and are being used for matchmaking purposes. It has absolutely nothing to do with skill, and although many have tried, it doesn't "prove" that one side is more powerful than the other or anything like that at all.

I agree, like I don't really have anything against SWFs, because that's how I got into the game. But if you're going to stick to your other teammates like glue and not do gens and cause your entire team to loose, then don't be surprised when people complain about it.

But I agree, just because you as killer or survivor get lucky and down or escape from a good player, doesn't mean you have any set level of skill. You just got lucky, I know I certainly have in the past, being paired as a new player with randoms who are actually good at the game or getting a down on cocky survivor at the exit gate because they're too busy t-bagging you.

So yeah, they really need to design a better MMR system. There are plenty of online MMOs or CO-OPs that they could take inspiration from. :-/

I mean some habits dead hard. BBQ is my crutch but it is a mid perk at best. The reason for it's high usage is killer's have always used it and therefore continue to use it. They could be using meta perks instead.

Just comes down to preference in the end really or which perks you have available.

I get thats very stressful. First time faced a sweaty tbag swf, I stopped playing for a week. I still get those kind of survivors sometimes, just leave a gg and move on.

But I learned that dont take it personal, some people plays the game only to be toxic and ruin other's experience. They only want to see your rage, dont let them success.

I do try to move on, just hard when it happens three games in a row. I mean, I come from League of Legends, so I'm pretty used to people being twats for the sake of being twats. But still, kinda demoralising.

Does BHVR even ban for auto Dead Hard cheats? Seems like something they would just be like "well they COULD have done that legitimately. I'll allow that"

From what I've seen in streams, I think the Auto DH cheat/script is pretty difficult to legitimately call out. Unless it's blatantly done multiple times in a row and caught with screen capture/record. Otherwise, it just looks like a very good or lucky DH activation.

  • I've been having a similar issue as well, I play on PC and I can't use the KB&M controls due to an ongoing issue with my wrist. After playing with a controller I noticed that there have been some really weird input delays going on, as it takes longer than needed to pick up a survivor, prepare/swap weapons, damage/repair gens, hook/unhook etc. Skill checks are surprisingly ok though.

They dont know who they're going against, the same reason that I use meme build as survivor only to vs 4 slowdown Nurse.

I get that I do, but I just can't help but feel it's a little bit sweaty. Could just be inexperience talking or maybe I'm just sick of being chased by survivors during the match all the while they're bagging me or when they all T-Bag me at the exit gate. 😶

number #1 or #2 most used survivor perks according to some stats

at least one or two dead hards in every lobby same with a lot of streamer lobbies.

this perk is slowly becoming as frustrating to deal with as old dh, and getting robbed out of hits when using powers that don't allow you to wait it out like wesker's bound , trickster's knives or when survivors force a lunge by going to a pallet feels awful.

if we want to improve the killer experience second chance perks and items/addons should not exist outside of dealing with camping/tunneling.

if dead hard is back to being a very popular perk it should be further nerfed imo it's not as bad as its pre nerf version but it isn't exactly balanced.

I'm pretty new to playing killer, little yellow baby budding Trickster main. And I was in a lobby yesterday, where all of the survivors not only took the same character with the same outfit, which made tracking them very hard but they all had rank three dead hard. I was so annoyed like I don't have issues with SWFs, it's how I got into the game. But do you really need to sweat that much against someone who is very obviously new?

What i'm asking is to not get paired with beginners who installed the game yesterday. I have 1000 hours and getting paired with a person who got 15 hours seems a bit rediculous.

As a new killer, I would like to be paired with people who are at my skill level instead of SWF sweats who are running maxed our perks and addons. I don't want to stomp baby survivors, far from it, I just want a fun, balanced game where no one is trying too hard to win as we can just all vibe on the map.

the blood web should really be totally reworked into something like a store or shop. there are simply one or two add-on that I want to use, but there's a chance I can't get it usually enough to keep using it, and that is really annoying, not to mention the offerings.

Just let us buy the add-on or offering as our wishes, if you worry about some really strong add-on being abused , just limit the max number you can get in a fix period, like three or five per day.

Grinding is not fun in the state of the game, even you reduced the BP cost , raise the BP cap and change how perstige and the teachable perks work, I want to spent more time in the trials, not clicking the node and watch the entity eat the perks or add-ons I like and see them never apear again.

I can see this being the best option, but it would have to completely depend on the killer level so you don't just have access to the best perks if you just happen to have enough BP saved up.

Yes!! Someone suggested this and it would be so much better. Going through several bloodwebs is boring.

It would also be good in case you see two perks you want on the very outside of the web, but will only be able to get one before the entity eats the other.

  • A "buy-all" option would be great.
