Youd be surprised how fast survivor salt grows on you. Embrace Nurse. Start having fun again.

Heh, I think I'll start preparing a salt bucket. Thanks :D

  • Ok, then I suppose that means that DbD needs better controller support to make their game less clunky for the console/switch or for those PC players who use a controller because they don't like the KB&M controls. :-/

I wonder if slightly making the spread and or the thing where ur blades get less accurate after a few throws less on console would help

He already had recoil that causes him to become less acurite, it's a constant struggle to stop the camera from shooting upwards.

  • Personally, I'm glad it's gone. The sound of the clicky-click always triggered my tinnitus and caused a lot of pain to me, so the fact they've removed the micro-clicking is a godsend.

  • I do love how this thread has devolved into a debate about if DbD is considered a party game or not. :-/ Can we please get back to the thread topic?

No you see if you play on PC and practice he can get some insane downs. He's way harder to play on console.

Try playing on PC with a controller, you will know true mastery of Trickster.

very clear who's played as trickster..

he's not my least favorite, but not favorite either. he's a solid middleground. i think alot of his hate is unfounded tbh... in the 10 or so trickster matches i've faced i dont remember a single one camping or tunneling, i could be just lucky though..

least favorite are those that are generally boring, or have kits that promote really boring playstyles; Twins. Twins, are literally 2x M1 killers who's kit makes it stronger to slug, tunnel and camp.... i dont see how this is even a debate

Same! The games I've played against Trickster, none of them have camped or what would be considered face camping. Ive seen patrolling, but nothing more than that.

And when I play Trickster I actively avoid tunneling and camping, as much as it can be helped.

I think you got the wrong tone from my post. Idc if a trickster players camps or tunnels, really it's just the smart gameplay because that's without a doubt his strongest aspect. There's nothing toxic about it, it's a gameplay strat. Yes he can injure extremely fast in some situations like deadzones or unsafe loops but in common tiles and strutctures, he's not much different than other killers with mediocre chase powers. In fact I'd argue he's actually worse than the other ranged killers because he takes so many knives.

Most of the time survivors simply run away before actually being in danger and you generally can't snipe them like deathslinger or huntress can, which is devastating because he's 110%. Furthermore if you get maps with too many god loops or obstacles you have lost the coinflip and most likely the game. That's why i think he's relatively garbage, although he is still not the absolute worst.

Ooooh my bad! Sorry about that, I got a little too defensive. But yeah I agree. Trickster is strong in that he can counter/punish EGC greedy saves, in that he can stop survivors going in for a save. Ive been in that position a few times and have always been "roasted" in the post game for stopping a save camp, like I know you're hiding behind that loop Nea, I'm not going to chase you so Leon can save Dwight. 😉

I'm not the biggest fan of how map dependant Trickster is, because I love playing him. His play style is extremely fun to me, in the way how an SMG is fun in shooters. I think Trickster needs a bit of a buff just so he can be more relevant and have pressure on larger maps, but I feel the same way for all low mobility killers.

As much as I am enjoying bathing in the tears of flashlight macro and rapid clicky enjoyers, the extra battery usage is pretty lame.

Same! I'm enjoying all the extra salt for my fries, but the extended battery is very annoying.

  • I agree with a lot of these comments, it also doesn't help that any game that has even the faintest whiff of competitive play it'll attract people who like to find the quickest way to "win".

  • @duygu said:

Horrible killer that is only good at camping and deadzone gameplay. He is also probably the best at tunneling right off hook because you injure the rescuer and still have more than enough knives to melt through endurance and then the second health state before they get to safety (most of the time and assuming you're already on the scene when the rescue happened)

Lmao and a camping Huntress, Legion, Bubba, Doctor, Nurse or Blight doesn't do the same?

Wake up, all killers have the potential to be toxic campers or tunnelers off hook. It's up to the individual player to decide if that's what they want to do.

  • Uh-oh, someone got destroyed by a good Trickster.

Honestly, you're complaining about one of the more balanced killers in DbD. He has the same weaknesses as Huntress, and like her is very map dependant.

Trickster is a low mobility killer and struggles with gen pressure on large maps, even more so with indoor maps or maps that have high walls.

Trickster's knives aren't unlimited, in total he can carry 44, 48 Max with add-ons. His movement speed also plummets when throwing his knives, again without add-ons. During "Main Event" Trickster drops to his slowest movement speed, even with add-ons to make up for the loss of speed, he gains accuracy. To counter this, just break his line of sight. The "ricochet" you're talking about is a purple add-on called "trick knives", as you noticed, they bounce, hence why theyre called "trick knives". 😉

Honestly all your complaints are just "he's a faster version of Huntress!" Which is the point, Trickster is DbD's version of an SMG, while Huntress is a Sniper

Now for some tips on how to best Trickster: Tricksters lullaby is one of the easiest to hear comming, next to Huntress so if you're having trouble hearing him, use headphones/headset, perks that show the killers aura. If youre still having trouble, you might need to get your hearing checked irl. I had to do that recently, there's no shame in it.

Tricksters knives are very easy to dodge, main event even more so. Always try to loop him around tall structures or lead him into buildings where it's easy to beak line of sight, once out of sight and if you're lacerated try to hide don't just hold W and hope for the best, because the laceration meter won't decay until you stop moving.

Again, Trickster is very map dependant. Take advantage of your surroundings.

    Edit:

Honestly, all the people complaining that he's "unhealthy" for the game and complaining about how spamable his power is, have never held or thrown throwing knives irl. They are much lighter than hatches.

And let's face it, if Huntress had less of a wind-up to her throws. People would be complaining about her power too. But because there's the wind-up she's somehow "less" of an issue. SMH.

    Edit 2:

After reading many of the comments here, it's becoming very clear who has and has not played Trickster.

This post made me so sad. That is top notch toxicity. It’s zero fun and it’s unnecessary. But I think you nailed it…a lot of survivors do treat killers with no regard that they’re actual humans.

The BMing is so disgusting. For me, I can take a loss…but I don’t want to be tbagged and clicked at over and over and over w it. I rarely take mercy on survivors anymore, because why…so even when I’ve let them go, they can tbag at the gate?

It was pretty bad, like I just dont see the point in playing the way they did and then how they gloated about it in the post game as if they had some amazing clutch victory against a high MMR player. With the added cherry of telling me to uninstall, that I was bad at Trickster (who I was playing), missing 80% of my knives etc was pretty goddamn ######### disgusting. Like no wonder DbD is slowly dying, because people like them make playing killer or survivor into almost physical and psychological torture.

Like you, I can take a loss or a match where I get 0-1k. My average when I get put into a match of my own MMR is 2-3K, I'm average at best given that I'm still new to the game. But like many, I just can't stand the BMing in this game. Why should I go to the exit gate to watch a 4-man swf tbag, nod and clicky-click me just because they ran me in circles the entire game and I know they want my attention because they start to rapidly vault windows and drop pallets near the exit gate that's open, heck sometimes they'll even go and open the other gate just to try and spite me more.

Like, I play League of Legends on the regular, so you'd think I've seen all that internet toxicity has to offer. But clearly, I have not, I haven't even scratched the surface.

Well unfortunately swfs communicate on comms, so they already flaunt an unfair advantage that the devs can't prevent.

Now, what I think would be a reasonable option for both swfs and solo queues would be if the devs added proximity chat. That actually makes sense for the game. Survivors can communicate, but only if they're actually near one another. They wouldn't be able to communicate across the map and give real time intel on the killer's position, chests, totems, etc. I would have no issue with that.

I don't think that would even help, because a swf would just switch back to Discord/comms once they're outside of the proxy-chat range. It'd be a leg up to solo for sure and maybe even killer if they could hear but not interact with the survivors, but the swf would still have the advantage.

It also wouldn't stop the potential for toxicity, like being salty and bad-mouthing/abusing misplays or builds, being sexist/ist/phobic knobs to other players.

Like I can see the potential, but it'd be hard to get it to work.

Knock on wood and hope that Behavior doesn't get any bright ideas about adding such a feature. 😬

I'm pretty sure, (read: hoping) they won't because it goes against the original idea behind DbD, in that the survivors aren't meant to be able to communicate but figure out how to survive on their own.

Like something needs to be done to help soloQ, like better matchmaking or something, but VC certainly isn't the answer.

  • It varies for player MMR/SBMM, killer and map.

Personally I'd say it's very survivor sided, what with Bill's perks being made into basekit for survivors, while they don't make any killer perks basekit.

But then you have killers that just wreck no matter what MMR they're played at like Blight or Nurse.

  • NGL, I hate RPD. But only because I get terribly turned around and lost while on that map as both Killer and Survivor.

In my opinion, the experience a player should get out of DbD should be on par with going to a really good haunted house during Halloween, or watching a really good horror movie. I really feel this is the spirit in which the game was conceived; the thrill of survival horror and slasher films. It's been taken over by the COD and Apex and Overwatch crowd, who seem intent in turning DbD into an e-sport. It's incredibly frustrating.

With the added toxicity of player entitlement experienced in League of Legends on top. XO This is the reason why I'm glad the game doesn't have an inbuilt VC or chat function in-game because people would just be so disgusting to solos coupled with the usual CoD toxicity and sexism and all that loveliness.

  • My first experience with a bully squad is what prompted me to write my own thread/discussion about the issue (here is you want to read it https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/347588/i-hate-flashlights/p1)

But to save you the click, I was pretty much bullied by a swf with flashlights. Chain blinded to oblivion, told to uninstall and that I was "bad' in the post-game. Bodyblocked and denied pickups/hooks. At one point I was in a standoff at shack, I had downed a survivor as they attempted to vault through the window. As I climbed through to pick them up, the other three members of their team surrounded me. One was behind me at the window, one was in front and the other was to my left. I literally could not go for pick up because if I did, I'd just get blinded, if I tried to leave the downed survivor slugged to chase, one of the survs on "stand-by" would just run in with their medkit and heal the slug. if I tried to vault back behind me I'd just get blinded. I just didn't know what to do, I was so flustered and annoyed. They couldn't have been more obvious that they were on Discord or some other voice chat app, their movements were just too coordinated.

Anyway, until that point, I had dealt with cocky survivors but I've always managed and had been able to let it go and move on to the next game. But something about the way they played just broke me a little, like they were playing as if they didn't want to play the game, but torment me, the killer instead. Like I was just some silly AI Bot to abuse, there for their own amusement and nothing else. I know that a more skilled player would have been able to deal with them, but I'm still a baby/new killer and don't have much experience with those kinds of players.

My best advice and I know it's not overly helpful until the actual culture around DbD changes and people remember that they are indeed versing people and not inhuman AI. Is to just step away, make yourself a coffee or a cup of tea and take deep breaths. Let them make fools of themselves and let them think that they're "l33t" because they can play a video game.

To be fair, it didn't have any implication it was eugenic kind of purification.

If anything, everything implied Nurse was inspired by real nurses who killed their patients to put them out of their misery. Pulling off backwards retcon and making her into eugenics insane fanatic is one of the worst possible decisions made.

They could have made a different character with a eugenics "fanaticism" instead of retroactively retconning Nurse's backstory. Like they have Doctor and Blight who are/were doctors, so why not a "professor" type killer who was pro-eugenics?

  • @Laluzi said:

The lore in this game is so incredibly inconsistent. It started with the Archives. Susie's one of the best examples, because she's simultaneously the reluctant shy girl who got peer pressured into joining a murder and also the Legion's biggest psycho who was stabbing shopkeepers and her fellow cheerleaders and making midnight art with the blood. But the Nurse is also both an angel of mercy who wanted to end the endless suffering she saw and a eugenicist who loathed her patients and wanted to cleanse the impure, and the Hag seems to simultaneously have lived in pre-1900s backwoods country and post-1950s modern suburbia? The Blight showed remorse for his actions in his initial lore and his atrocities were framed as something he'd just turned a blind eye to and never really knew the depths of, but the archives painted him as being extremely amoral and willing to commit murder out of pure convenience well before his life turnaround or his descent into madness in the Realm. And the Plague was beloved by her people for her tireless efforts to save them in her lore blurb, but her cosmetics talk about her being hella merciless and brutal.

It's so dissonant. Who are these characters supposed to be? Whatever we want them to be?

And Yun-Jin's lore didn't outright change as much as some of these guys, but her framing went from understandable denial to 'she totally knew about Ji-Woon and didn't want to ruin her image.'

They like to handwave this off as alternate universes, but I really hate that excuse because it turns anything they tell us about the killers into meaningless words.

I really liked the implication of Yun-Jin knowing or at least having a suspicion of what Ji-Woon was doing, but didn't really care as long as he was making her money. Because it kind of fits with the cold business-like world of the idol/K-Pop industry, as long as the idol is producing a good following with "good" products then who cares what they (the idol) do in their free time?

Making it more of a cat-and-mouse type of game between the two was fine I suppose, but it kind of makes Yun-Jin more sympathetic when really she's not really supposed to be.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/349652/newsflash-killer-makes-team-of-3-eat-poop-after-immediate-dc

I remember one game against a Freddy not even 10 seconds into game all 3 of my teammates dced so obviously a SWF and I was just going to let the killer kill me since I couldn't solo 5 gens. Instead he had me do 2 gens 3 cleansing totems and I let him kill me.

I had something similar, but I was playing killer.

I was playing Trickster and got sent into the Disturbed Ward map, not one of my best maps, but I do alright with it. I started looking for survivors, and before I knew it I found two by a gen, so I started throwing knives they look at me and started "pointing and me" wanting me to follow them, so I do. They start pointing at the hooks nearby, I was pretty confused but obliged the hooks. Once they were hooked they immediately suicided and then one of the others DC'd. The last survivor must have been directly near where the hatch spawned so they jumped through it before I could even register what the hell had even happened.

Ultimately, in hindsight, I figure that it must have been a 3-man SWF, because the final survivor and I were just super confused in the post-game chat. :-/

I’m learning nurse right now. Amazing how many survivors just rage quit when you hit them once. . .

I’m not that good at nurse. Like a decent survivor and map could loop me for 6 minutes. Even 3 v 1, they have a decent chance at surviving.

This is what makes me hesitant to pick up Nurse, even for a match or two just to see how she plays. I don't want to have people DC just because I'm playing Nurse, but then I also don't want people to yell at me for being "bad" at Nurse. Like when people yelled at me for being bad at Trickster and Meg when I first started plying DbD. It really is loose/loose, in some cases.

  • I always say "GGs <3" regardless if I win or not, it's just good manners.

  • @WorthlessBeing said:

Sometimes I tunnel when I'm clearly losing and I really want to kill one. Happens. I try to limit it tho.

But most of the time tunneling is because I always end up finding the same survivor or running into them. I mean, I'm not trying to, but what am I supposed to do? Let them go? No.

At best, if it's been too soon since last hook I'll down them and leave them bleeding while checking for other people.

There's also a lot of survivors that want to play hero with the extended basekit BT, protecting the unhooker, and, sure, I get it. But if you want to take their hit, I'll make sure to give you the full run.

Exactly, it's not really tunnelling if you keep running into the same survivor over and over again. It's just bad luck by that point, it's a part of the game. It's unfortunate, and many killers do try to avoid it, but sadly tunnelling just happens.

  • @Hannacia said:

VC is a big nope for me. I would keep it off anyways since i dont need to hear someone eating their mic and yelling slurs and insults at me and everyone else. Also kindred is way too powerful perk to become basekit for survivors. No aura reading perks should ever be basekit.

Same, VC with one or two friends, the sure. But with total strangers who act like if I don't get to them immediately after they're hooked or don't have a certain perk or add-on equipped is the biggest sin in the world, then no thanks. I don't need to hear them tilt their ass off at me or other survivors because they ######### up or think the only way to play is their way.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3219552#Comment_3219552

    Shrug.

I joined when this game was extremely survivor sided.

Now the game is fairly balanced (killer versus SWF) or a bit killer sided (killer versus solo) depending on how survivors approach things.

I think, between the time I started playing (early 2020) to now, I've had a total of 2 survivors give me a kill on a blowout game.

I started learning survivor last year. I'd say I've seen maybe 500, likely more killers in that time give someone hatch or a gate.

    What I'm saying is:

    • 'Killers' aren't a monolith. There are some mean ones and some nice ones. Ditto survivors.
    • By the numbers (and I'm sure anyone who plays both roles will back me up on this), you are more likely to be shown mercy by a killer than a survivor, even though there will be 4 survivors to every killer.
    • Many survivors expect to be let go if they're the last survivor - again, I'm sure any killer player will confirm how often we get BM in postgame if we don't give hatch. However, on games where all survivors escape, there isn't even a consideration of giving them a charity kill.

It seems that there's a double standard here, where killers are expected to abide by unwritten rules of sportsmanship that survivors aren't. Why?

I've noticed this too, especially after playing killer more as of late.

As killer, I'm expected to play by all these rules. Not to tunnel, don't camp, don't proxy camp/patrol, don't take XYZ killer to XYZ map, don't be toxic etc.

Yet, survivors are seemingly allowed to rush gens, t-bag during a chase and in the exit gate, be entitled to hatch/win, be allowed to flashlight save and chain blind a killer, bad mouth the killer or other survivors in post chat for being "new" or "bad" etc.

It's very much a "rules for thee but not for me," kinda deal. Not to say that this is all killer's or survivors mind, because, as you said, there are some players who do give charity kills or escapes. But the toxic ones always seem to overshadow the good ones.

  • @TatsuiChiyo said:

BHVR certainly consider it a problem, quitter penalty was implemented a while back. But what do you want the Killer to do? Go easy, farm? Why should the Killer now waste their time and not just move the game to a quicker end so they can ho to the next one.

Blame your terrible teammate who quit immediately, not the Killer.

The only time I have ever given a free game to survivors was when there were two AKF survivors in a match (I suspect they were a duo who didn't like the map so just went AFK to avoid having to play it), I hooked both of the afk's, let the remaining ones unhook for points, and then hooked them again so I could get sacrifice points. Then let the survivors do the gens, at some point the Jake and I were playing ring-around-the-rosy around a tree for chase points. Was a very chill match.

I would like slobby for sure as basekit and maybe toned down corrupted. Like the first 30 seconds or so 3 gens are corrupted.

I can certainly see a toned-down version of Corrupted being a good edition for killer basekit, especially on some of the larger maps where the gens have a more spread and it would give some pressure to killers with low mobility or gen pressure. Would certainly stop 3 gens popping in 90 seconds, therefore forcing survs to look for non-corrupted gens.

  • @Hannacia said:

I'm not sure why behaviour should make the game easier for new and low skilled players. They need to put more gametime in and learn the game instead of getting help from basekit perks and whatever else.

Give too much to the survivors this game becomes unbearable to killers. Its not that easy for killers when survivors know more than selfcaring in the corner.

Besides i personally think its time to give killers a basekit perk at this point. Survivors are going to be running with 6 perks soon ( 2 being basekits)

SoloQ issue isnt perks or killers or maps or whatever else, its the survivors themselfs. If you have 1-2 survivors that are hiding and not helping out the team, sure you will lose and you will lose hard. Self care is almost in every match, Its a killer perk..stop using it.

Just curious, which perks would you personally make basekit for killer? Personally, I'd made Sloppy Butcher and NOED basekit for all killers or maybe Spies from the Shadows, since they're free perks.

I mean ive had bad match days as well but never have i died 15 times in a row..so im calling poop on that :)

Again i dont believe buffing low skilled and low hour players will make this game any better. If anything it will make it worse since the high skilled and swf players will get the buffs as well. Best thing those survivors can do for themselfs is to learn the game. Watch youtube videos..watch streamers, dont rely on getting basekit perks and buffs all the time.

Good survivors will still escape just fine and you are not supposed to win every game

This is why I've been in favour of a proper bots mode since I started playing this game. As a brand-new player, it hasn't been fun trying to learn the game on the fly, especially with such a flawed MMR system. I have been put into matches where I clearly don't belong, be it killer or survivor.

Like if there was just a proper mode to practise killer or survivor while getting used to the very basic mechanics without the threat of better players breathing down your neck, I feel the transition into playing against or with real people would go a little smoother at least in terms of the basic gameplay loop, everything else would just come naturally as you get better and better at the game.

    It's a perfectly valid take.

I don't necessarily agree, but expecting other people to feel obligated to participate in something that they just don't want to, specially in a game, which it's purpose is to be enjoyed, is downright aberrant.

Leaving a room hardly harms anyone anyway, so no reason to be judgmental, unlike giving up on hook or DCing, which I do find reprehensible.

Honestly, I think it's perfectly fine to dodge before the game even starts. Like it just saves everyone the trouble of waiting out a bad game or the survivors suiciding on the first hook or DC-ing.

Everytime i get garden of pain as a killer i just want to afk in a corner. That map to me personally is the worst. Too many safe pallets and that main house..not even going to talk about it.

I want them to redo the swamp maps but how they have been making maps i'm not sure i trust their ability to make them balanced. They would probably be full of god loops and steel bushes afterwards.

Personally, I think the two Backwater Swamp maps are the most balanced for both Survivor and Killer as I've got a 50/50 win-loos rate to it than every other map I've played on. So yeah, I'd rather them not touch those maps. Actually, I want them to not touch ANY of the maps until they have a designated map team who actually care about balance and not just handing out wins.

GoJ, RPD, Mackmillian and Midwitch are maps I personally can't stand due to either how big they are, how dark or how confusing they are. I spent an embarrassingly long time trying to get to a generator on the second floor of Midwitch because I couldn't tell which wall it was behind...I also get hopelessly lost and turned around on RPD...

Sensitive? You "do" know what were talking about right? No were not talking about two Davids or four Davids or etc we are talking about with 4 Davids with the exact same cosmetics (twins). Why don't people pay attention to what's being said in threads!?......

    Anyway...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3218836#Comment_3218836

Afraid? Lol this has nothing to do with being "afraid" Its smart and sensible to leave a room with identical survivors!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3218879#Comment_3218879

This makes absolutely no sense and has no relevance to what this thread is about.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3218887#Comment_3218887

You and the person who up voted you and other like you lack comprehension ability it seems because what you said has nothing to do with what this thread is about.

I "said" when "dopplegangers" ie survivors with the same character "and" the exact same cosmetics (outfits) are in a room i leave it. Its in plain language! You people are quick to shoot others down for what they do without "comprehending" or "understanding" what is being said!

For the tenth time i don't care if there are four of the same survivors i don't mind that even when i have obsession perks bc i'll just remember what the obsession has on what i "do" have a problem with is two, three or four of the "exact same" outfits being used and rightfully so!

Sorry, I dont know how to reply to individual comments on mobile. Anyway, I can deal with going against a set of twins or quads now. In retrospect, I guess I'm just more amused at their reaction to the accidental tunnelling, like I get that they were probably trying to meme or were trying to confuse me with strats. Which makes me scratch my head at the level of salt in the post game lobby, like your plan/meme backfired, that's not my fault. 🤔

  • I hate being in a lobby with more skilled players than me, be it as killer or survivor. I just can't help but wonder how the eff I got put here. Like wasn't anyone else playing at that moment or was I just unlucky?

  • The first time I came across this, I didn't have the foresight enough to dodge and I really should have dodged.

I had three Cheryls and an Ada, the Cheryls all took the same base cosmetic and had the same medkit add-on. Anyway, at some point during the game I had all three of the Cheryls injured and one of them had just been unhooked. In a bout of what I supposed was meant to be planned confusion, they all darted off in the same direction. I managed to down one of them and only once I realised I had gotten the person I was carrying on the hook they died to the entity, they then DC'd.

Anyway, fast-forward to the end game lobby and the two remaining Cheryls abused me to hell and back, calling me a camper, a tunneler and just overall told me I was a bad killer. All I could do was just point out to them that if their intent was to confuse me then they did a good job, because I was confused and because by accident I went after the person they just unhooked they shouldn't be upset that their plan came back and bit them in the ass.

that's why I always loved Trickster more than huntress. feels like a machine gun, and much more fun to me

Exactly, he's just really fun to play. I've always preferred "faster" gameplay loops, in comparison to "slower" loops. Yet, I love stealth games. But yeah, in FPS games SMGs, FA Pistols and ARs are my favourite weapons to use. They're just more fun to me, so killers like Trickster and Legion are extremely fun for me to play, because they match my preferred gameplay style.

So just massive Trickster nerfs. Also "closer than 5 meters away" so punishing trickster for accurate hits?

I love how people say that Trickster is a more boring or annoying version of Huntress. Like that's the point of his kit? Trickster is more like an SMG whereas Huntress is a sniper. You don't see people wanting the removal of SMGs in an FPS, so why should Trickster be nerfed because he plays like one? Not to mention, in a touch of realism, knives are a hell of a lot lighter than hatchets which makes them easier to throw in rapid succession.

Also IIRC, Trickster originally had to land eight knives to get a down, where six was the old "injured" status. So yeah, reducing the number of blades he can carry (which is forty-four without add-ons) would just nerf him and as you said, punish players for missing knives because of various reasons on both killer and survivor side of the gameplay loop.

All of that sounds super awesome and it makes me sad we probably won't get any of it.

Yeah, it's pretty depressing that he won't get a rework. I mean. He's the face of the franchise. So he should be relevant to the game as a whole, not just the "meta". Buy alas, I don't see him getting a rework anytime soon, same with Blight and Nurse.

I saw a great idea in a forum post which suggested that the trapper can use an ability that lets him put away his weapon to go faster. The idea of this was to allow him to quickly rush to a survivor who stepped in a trap before they could escape. I however think this idea could actually work for all low mobility killers where they put away their weapon to get a move speed boost. It should have a coming out cooldown so it cant be used in loops at all, but it would really help low tier killers especially with getting between gens or on bigger maps.

This is a really good idea, but then ofc it'd have to be balanced around the killer being able to pull out their weapon for an M1 or the use of their power in the case of someone like Trickster or Huntress. Unless they can like "bodyslam" into the survivor to knock them into an "injured" state or something? could be hilarious.

  • ISTG the chat filter for DbD is worse than The Sims and Roblox combined. :-/

Lightweight trap: Trapper can now throw his traps up to 24 meters, it instantly sets when landing and any survivor caught between in and where it would land is trapped as if they stepped on it. Escaping the trap requires only one attempt, but it takes 10 seconds to escape, and leaves the survivor hindered for 5 seconds (you would be able to see an aura of where the trap would 'set' on landing, making it easier to cut off escape)

Seriously, Trapper needs a rework or at least be allowed to use different types of traps. Like trip/barb wire traps, oil slicks that can slow survivors, and flashbangs that temp blind/alert Trapper to a survivor's location or reveal their aura for a few seconds. Just something that makes the name Trapper have meaning again and so he can compete with the new meta perks.

100% agree with this as well. Why does mother's dwelling have to be so big it takes the typical killer 30-40 seconds to go from one side to the other?

It would certainly help with killers who have low gen pressure and would stop three gens popping in less than ninety seconds. :-/

  • Sakado is pretty much useless without spamming condemned, she is the weakest killer on the roster. Nerfing her power would maker her a non-exsistant killer. Poor girl is in desperate need of a rework.

  • For Trickster, he has an add-on that buffs his movement speed while throwing knives so he doesn't slow down as much. But I do agree that his base movement speed needs to be buffed, not by much but just enough that he has a little more gen pressure. Especially on the larger maps, where he has the least amount of gen pressure due to how far spread everything is.

I also think his power "Main Event" needs a bit of a rework as it is pretty underwhelming, though effective when used correctly.

Just FYI, I love Trickster. He's really fun to play, but his weaknesses can be a little annoying.

  • I've seen people on Reddit and steam complaining about this. Have you made a post in the bug forum?

Both sides have the tools to make the game as unfun as possible for the other side unfortunately. Both gen rushing and facecamping are flaws with the game that need to be addressed for the sake of the game's health. Personally I can't think of any solution to balance it for both sides without reworking the entire game flow.

Oh same, I realise as both survivor and killer. The fact there is just so much potential for abuse on both sides is astounding, like I get it. Any game that has even the smallest *hint* of competitiveness/competitive play and you have the sweats out in droves trying to find the fastest way to finish and win games, be it perks, map layouts, discord coms, certain killers/survivors etc.

I too often wonder how I would improve/balance the game for both sides and find myself in the same position as you, in that I can't think of many things that could improve the game without favouring one side over the other.

Like maybe at the start of the game, on the larger maps, like Macmillian the survivor's auras are revealed for a few seconds or highlight the general area where survivors spawn just so the killer isn't spending 90 seconds checking every gen furthest from the 1-3 that are being worked on.

Maybe for survivors and to stop face camping, hook/entity progress is completely halted while the killer is within a certain radius, without completely negating the strategy of patrolling near hooked survivors.

But yeah, I agree, they'd have to completely rework the gameplay loop just to balance it all out and make it fair. Especially the map layouts and the RNG of pallets, jungle gyms, windows, vaults etc.

Bro the collision is also pretty scummy, there are way to many connected loops, and the gen spread is bad too. Remove some palettes, tremendously nerf the main build, and then... It maybe a good map for sure.

First time I played on GoJ, four of the gens spawned inside the house. Guess which gens the survivors did first...
