  • That's why I don't like the legendary skins. They take away from possible future killers/survivors.

no actually, there are mindgames at low wall loops, and even if there wasnt, filler pallets exist so you dont have to run across the map to get to a tile.

for example, if im a survivor and i know the killer will lunge to try and hit me through the pallet, i will not drop the pallet and have them miss, however, if the killer is smart he might not respect knowing im a smart survivor and get a free hit, little things like that.

    What you're describing isn't a mind game, it's a guess.

  • @Hippie said:

Good Survivors can loop a low wall perfectly for ages, but bad Survivors can get caught with quick Killer movements at said loops. I think the key to catching good Survivors at low wall loops is to just hold W instead of trying to do quick moves or anything like that... then, after they drop the pallet, get them on the worse side of the loop and break it. It's worked for me against red rank Survivors (although rank =/= skill most of the time!).

I think low wall loops are just aesthetically pleasing for most maps, and you don't want to have high wall loops everywhere--it could be a nightmare due to all of the LOS blockers that would be present.

I'm not asking how you counter low wall loops. I'm asking why they exist functionally.

"I think low wall loops are just aesthetically pleasing for most maps, and you don't want to have high wall loops everywhere--it could be a nightmare due to all of the LOS blockers that would be present."

I actually don't think making them all higher would hurt any aesthetics and why exactly would that be a nightmare?

  • Never heard of it. Looks creepy though.

I wonder what's the fun on ending the game in 3 minutes...

Actually it gets worse. Replace Bond with Spine Chill for an extra 6% when he look towards y'all and extra great skill checks.

All it takes on an M1 killer to turn them mostly unloopable is enduring and bamboozle. I feel like if you are going into red rank matches with a a low mobility killer, so you have to commit to chases, you should be confident in your mindgames/anti-looping or be running some chase perks. It's entirely your own fault for running around with 3-4x slowdown perks and not enough chase power to actually get the downs to use them.

I think wraith is miles better than ghostface once you get into green add-ons and above. If you are considering the "best" ghostface build of just chewed pens, then you should be considering some of the best wraith add-ons as well. They both get a free hit at generators, and then are exactly the same chase-wise after that. But wraith can get great mobility, free sloppy butcher, aura reading, silent bell, etc; and has no cooldown on his power. He can bounce between survivors applying sloppy butcher much, much faster than ghostface.

PH, Plague, Doctor, and Bubba all have very strong chase potential to get their map pressure. It's up to the killer to be good enough with them to get downs fast enough to apply it.

Legion I will admit is just meh, unless you get a really good frenzy off at the start in which case he is OK.

No, Enduring and Bamboozle doesn't make you unloopable at all. As soon as they know you have Enduring they will drop pallets slightly early. You are greatly over valuing how good the games chase perks are.

I'm basing on no addons.Wraith doesn't get nearly as many free hits at generators as Ghostface does. You can't stack all those addons at once and you're mentioning an ultra rare..lol. Ghostface is also better in chase because of his size and crouching at loops.

"PH, Plague, Doctor, and Bubba all have very strong chase potential to get their map pressure. It's up to the killer to be good enough with them to get downs fast enough to apply it."

Their better chase isn't good enough to make up for their lack of map pressure. Your statement here summarizes into a "just pressure the gens". If you play killer at rank 1 regularly you would know how exaggerating you're being here. Against average survivors sure, but against good survivors it is not playing out that way.

Also, Plague does not have good chase even remotely. She is quite literally THE worst chase. Tallest and most loopable killer in the game.

??? Wraith gets windstorm from yellow and up. I get around 2-4 of them every bloodweb, as well as 1-2 black wards. That's plenty to run windstorm almost indefinitely if you are a regular BBQ user and put points into wraith.

Demo is practically M1 half the time since his shred can't be used on super tight loops.

If you are not stalking as ghostface, there is literally 0 reason to play him over wraith. Wraith does hit and run twice as good as ghostface when add-ons are involved (and they should be).

Myers is a snowball killer. He is weak at first, and then turns into one of the strongest killers in the game. If he had map pressure as well he would be overpowered (aka Oni).

I'm talking the better quality windstorm, the yellow isn't enough to make his map pressure where it needs to be.

Demo is not an M1 even remotely. Those tight loops are shreddable with enough practice. Shred will actually glide you along a wall if you aim it correctly and not collide.

I also did not say zero stalking. However, against good survivors you are getting very little stalks. Ghostface is definitely better than Wraith.

"Myers is a snowball killer. He is weak at first, and then turns into one of the strongest killers in the game."

Not even remotely. Myers is not that strong. You can have perma T3 Myers and you are still a loopable M1 killer. Groups that know how to loop will eat that alive.

You also didn't bring up all the other killers with no map pressure, IE PH, Plague, Bubba, Doctor, Legion etc

Game isn't quite ready for it. If a survivor gets hit and just holds w, you literally get into bloodlust before you catch up to them. Gens fly by too fast in the early game and a few maps are still terrible and large. Once those things are fixed, sure.

At the same time though, bloodlust represents the power of the killer, the killer will eventually get you, no matter what, it's just a matter of time. And if you get downed while the killer is in bloodlust 2-3, you won that chase, because the killer also just lost 3 gens while that happened.

^ This sums it up well.

Bloodlust does eventually need to go, but the maps aren't there yet.

  • It's pretty crazy how not only was it hard nerfed but by their notes it was supposed to be a buff. That feels quite out of touch with balancing if that seemed like a buff to someone.

  • My average killer games are 3k

My average survivor games are 3 escapes. Maybe slightly less as you get some potatoes here and there.

Balancing the game around pips would probably work better than kills even though they both have flaws.

A killer could just facecamp 1 guy from the start of the game while all gens are completed and then down 1 guy as the last gen is getting done and facecamp him as the others leave. That's a balanced 2k, 2 escape game right? Unfortunately that scenario happens a lot and shows absolutely nothing of balance.

  • If you're on Nurse, Spirit etc top tier killers, sure.

If you're talking about lower tier killers then I don't believe you.

I don't think trolling with a basement camp build is fun.

  • @NovaDuck said:

Eh, idk. I mean wraith has plenty of mobility with windstorm. Demo has his portals. Trapper just stays in one part of the map all game (or he should).

Ghostface should be getting instant downs for pressure and not played like wraith (which it looks like this guy is doing, with that build).

Pretty much the only M1 killers who struggle with map sizes would be pig, myers. Myers can wipe out 2-3 people in a single EW tier 3 though. Pig is just the worst killer so if you are going into red rank matches without corrupt on her that's kind of your own fault.

Counting very rare addons in my statement isn't quite accurate. You will not have that every game.

I also said M1 killers, Demo isn't an M1 killer.

Going for consistent insta downs as Ghostface will lose you game unless you are against potatoes.

Myers has no map pressure and a very weak early game. You described how he wins matches, but that isn't what I said. I said he has no map pressure, which is a true statement.

  • There's very little interaction and his skill ceiling is quite low imo. That makes him not very fun.

  • The vast majority of the games maps are simply too large for an M1 killer to properly apply as much pressure as he needs to against good survivors. Map size is quite an issue.

  • People are vastly over dramatic with the Billy nerfs. Yes, he was destroyed on the PTB, but that's not how he ended up being released.

The overheat mechanic is basically non existent now unless you are really messing up bad. The only thing really different is that he doesn't have a coupe broken addons now. Base kit Billy is still essentially all there.

  • I think they could do a lot more with bushes and tall grass than they currently are. I think they're under utilized. This is under the assumption they fix some of Claudettes camo though. Her mere existence limits future map design. I can get away with so much more on Claudette than I would ever get away with on any other survivor. She just needs a couple bright cosmetics or something onto her base.

  • I never use my mori's almost ever, so I've got stacks and stacks of them. The only time I throw them on are to counter keys, that's it basically.

  • Ruins not good enough to be a hex currently and Overcharge is just garbage unless you're playing at a low rank, it needs a rework.

Pop is actually a great. It's also an example of a well designed perk because it's only strong if you play well, but weak if you don't.

  • I really don't want it to be Candyman, but it seems pretty likely.

Still fun to watch, still learning from his games and his chat, up entertaining, I wish nothing but the best for him.

When you get right down to it his community isn’t that different from most streamers, they all see “their person,” doing no wrong

Same, he's a great guy. I enjoy his streams.

A lot of streamer communities can seem that way yeah.

  • @johnmwarner said:

I disagree about the SWF assumption he always makes, I mean lately I’ve watched games where he mentions the survivors are in the top 1% of the 1% and it’s clear to anyone who has more than 50 hours they aren’t.

Not in relation to SWF, but in relation to him talking about playing the 1%, I will agree he does exaggerate that a lot. Sometimes they have been, but many times they're just a really solid group, not 1% though.

Even so, those exaggerations seem pretty minor to me in the grand scheme of enjoying watching him. I still approach all his game balance analyzing from a neutral stand point and he is general on track.

I think it's pretty important to approach someones ideas without a preconceived notion depending on your opinion of the person. That's why I don't give too much weight to some of the exaggerations he does indeed make.

Most streamers play all survivor or like 90/10 survivor killer split and claim it’s because it’s “easier to interact playing survivor.” Well no #########, it’s the easier role.

Im amazed at how much Tofu and Otz can carry on conversation while playing killer... I would literally miss everything if I tried to read chat while chasing people.

Honestly one of the main reasons I don't stream much. Playing killer takes my full attention and I'd end up having zero communication and just letting people watch me essentially. Sounds boring.

Then I could stream when I play survivor, but I play survivor to chill out and relax from the killer games. If I'm talking to chat that isn't relaxing to me.

Yet he nevers sees solo survivor problems and tries to make the solo survivor role like if it doesn't have any problem.

And yes gen speed and some maps are OP asf, but he talks about survivors players like if they're the worst thing in this world and if he can't catch a survivor on a loop he's cheating and using stretch res.

If he doesn't get a 4k it is a SWF team.

Like my god, that guy is just so anooying and biased!!!

And yes he has a unfair preference towards killer, if he really plays both sides, why he nevers talk about survivor problems? Oh, cause he's biased!

I feel like he points out a lot of the survivor problems as well, there just simply aren't as many currently as on killer side, nor are they as extreme.

He mentions the toxicity on survivors since there is in general more toxicity on the survivor side. I also very rarely ever hear him say anything about survivors cheating. The only "cheating" per say he really talks about is SWF. Everyone has their own opinion on whether you think SWF is cheating, but I personally agree with the sentiment by the literal definition of cheating.

"If he doesn't get a 4k it is a SWF team."

And is he generally wrong about them being a SWF? I don't think so

"Like my god, that guy is just so anooying and biased!!!

And yes he has a unfair preference towards killer, if he really plays both sides, why he nevers talk about survivor problems? Oh, cause he's biased!"

As I said earlier, you're misusing the word bias. He isn't biased by definition.

Having a preference towards one side and being bias are two different things. One of the differences being whether the preference is fair or unfair, of which I think he has quite a few fair reasons as to why. If you disagree then tell me why, because I can list quite a lot of reasons as to why it is fair.

I already answered your question about him mentioning survivor problems above. He does mention them, there just aren't as many and they aren't as much of an issue with the games current balance.

  • @Kasmika said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1493495#Comment_1493495

    He's biased tho.

Umbra or otz are a better example.

He plays both sides yes, but that doesn't mean he's magically no biased, I know a lot of people that play both sides and are biased towards survivors or killer role.

As for OP: Yes, That's why I dont watch him, boring vids etc.. Otz, No0b3 and the JRM are way better and fun, otz is really unbiased and fun to watch and No0b3 and JRM are really funny to watch, im not gonna watch a guy complaining about gen speed and saying all the time "Swf bad, gen op survivor main haha!"

    Just no.

I don't think he's biased at all. Biased implies unfair preference towards killers. He has a preference towards killer problems because there are in fact much more killer problems. IE his preference on killer issues isn't "unfair" it's because of an analyzed imbalance in the game that he is wanting to have fixed.

So no, by definition that isn't what biased means. The vast majority of people misuse the term bias without understanding its actual meaning.

  • I assumed it was a bug and unintended. I'd like some confirmation on this from dev if we could.

  • A lot of people that play both sides and see where he's coming from with the games issues. He actually points out many problems.

A lot of other streamers like to sugar coat the games problems and not really bring them up.

His assessments seem generally pretty fair and analytical imo.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

She's really not viable in a more competitive setting against solid players. In a more casual game against less skilled survivors, yes, she's super threatening.

The issue is that there's little to no difference between being injured and healthy when the killer has absolutely no chase ability. Pallet count will always outpace generator times against an efficient team. What good players will do is deal with the infection for 2 or 3 gens and play super safe at loops, then cleanse at once to soft reset the game and slam the remaining gens. Corrupt Purge isn't a huge threat depending on the map and tile set due to the speed curve on wind up.

^ This sums it up pretty well.

  • Your best chance is picking your 3 gen from the start and near forgetting the rest the map. This lets you create a dead zone and forces them into it. The majority of maps are just too large and safe to be able to possibly pressure it well enough against good survivors unless you're on a few of the top tier killers with high mobility.

  • A separate ranked and casual mode is the best option I've seen.

We'd obviously need a better ranking system and rank rewards simultaneously. Also revert to the old rank reset system as the new one is just putting everyone at high ranks as it's near impossible to down rank anything substantial.

Anything in casual mode but limit up to 2 swf for ranked.

A changing blood point bonus for either format depending which one has longer queue's.

    ---------------------

Any of the changes you listed that nerfs or inhibits swf groups isn't gonna work as they don't want to punish players for playing with friends.

Also, no one cares about their addons or blood point incentives to face swf. They just want a fun match.

Well solo always had potatoes but honestly late 2018/early 2019 solo was fine for the most part. Really good players on either side.

Rank reset changes did a lot of the damage and a huge influx of new players over the past year too.

I’m hoping MMR fixes it but if not ranked/casual would be nice. Some players want to meme about, some want to go afk, I’d rather have them kicked out of the ranked setting so people like that want to play competitively can be put with like minded people without having to swf all the time which can be inconvenient getting people online at the same time to play a game.

My thoughts as well pretty much. I actually think the MMR system is gonna highlight the games balance issues even more as the bad ranking/rank reset system was pseudo covering up the issues.

Really hate we won't see each others MMR though. The system could literally be not even active and we wouldn't be the wiser.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1491060#Comment_1491060

And the catch 22 is that as solo gets worse, more players go swf.

I used to play solo a lot back in the day but now its only for achieve challenge grinding. Other than that I wouldnt touch it because its depressing putting in so much effort just to lose again and again and again.

Last night I ran a Pyramid Head for at least 5 minutes over the course of a few changes. I was chased so often and so much I didnt even get to work on the gens. What did the other survivors do? Gave him one of the best 3 gen setups I’ve ever seen. Then they’re all urban evading around afraid to touch the gens, not a single one had been worked on. So I had to be the one that did most of the work. That resulted in me dying as the last gen was done. Its frustrating always sweating so hard but never being able to escape. Meanwhile the ones that crawl around the edge of the map while others work on the last gen tend to be the ones that get away.

I wonder if this will ever get addressed. We've had the issue for years.

Almost all the solutions have pros and cons with none really being great. A ranked and unranked mode or built in voice coms has probably been the better solutions I've seen even though they do have their own issues.

Based on dev forum responses they don't seem to think it's much of an issue.

  • Maybe some very small changes, but this is honestly extremely close to my tier list for the most part. Much closer than most the other lists I see people post on here.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

Its not just you, its everyone.

I know people will say “well you’re the common denominator in these games” but no, I assume you’re like me and you always last longest in chase, always get the first gen done if you’re not being chased etc

Sometimes I play with a friend who is about as good as me. Us two always last the longest in chase. Always. Also if one of us is getting chased, you can bet the other will be the first to get a gen done. Often long before the other survivors. Which makes you wonder exactly what they have been doing..

Solo survivor has been heavily watered down so its not surprising. Also yeah swf voice comms advantage and all that. All the good players these days tend to play together so I guess that explains it.

"All the good players these days tend to play together so I guess that explains it."

I think this is a really good point.

It seems very rare to get good solo's as almost all the decent survivors tend to SWF to avoid the random potatoes. This leads to very polarizing games where it's either potatoes or an insane group all stacked. Night and day experiences in other words, rather than average games being a mix mesh of a couple good and a couple bad in each game.

  • I feel this every day. I play rank 1 on both sides, but when I play killer it's either death squads or insane solo's with an occasional potato here and there. (I will say much more potatoes when I play killer if it's off hour times, but prime time like 4-10 is tons of sweat)

Then I go on survivor and my team is like boosted rank 10's that have no idea what they're doing.

This would all make a lot more sense if the MMR was already active on PC because then we could surmize this meaning I'm a lot better at killer than survivor and the MMR difference is what's causing this. However, I'm pretty sure we've already had it confirmed multiple times that it isn't active.

This is one of the things that makes me think more of them are SWF as those aren't the types of players I'm getting randomly. Really wish we could at least see in post lobby. Even hide the survivors names in pre lobby so there'd be no reason to dodge names. Two changes that would make both sides happy.

  • Generally nothing.

Occasionally you get the group goofing around and it's fun, but the majority of the time it just means you'll be sweating from a little more to a lot more depending on the group.

  • Against average to bad players he's totally fine. Against actually good players no, he's quite bad.

  • I honestly never even thought about him as a potential killer but a sleep hollow chapter would be sick!

  • It's the only hex perk that's actually good enough to be a hex. It's high risk/high reward.

Almost all the other hex perks are high risk/low-average reward.

  • It's a toss up between Clown and Legion for me.

Clown has no map pressure and Legion is just a basic M1 killer with no lethality.

Either way they both get destroyed by decent teams and each of them needs significant buffs.

He literally got a 2k after playing like a buffoon on a map that heavily favoured this loadout. They would've gotten destroyed anywhere else where they can't bodyblock for the person using ftp.

It wasn't a heavily favored loadout and he wasn't playing like a buffoon even remotely. There are also a lot worse maps that he could've been placed on. He only got the 2k at the end because they greeded the door.

  • Those perks are fine in solo queue but this is a good example of how busted they become in a coordinated SWF group.

This is counter intuitive to their design philosophy. They said themselves that they don't want to make changes or release perks that buff SWF solely. Those 2 perks are de facto those types of perks.

The team wasn't unbeatable and the killer made a few small mistakes, but that is still insanely unfun to face and extremely unlikely you will win.

Would we call that a fair game? I wouldn't

  • I feel like Spirit already is their version of the grudge imo.

  • Interesting to see Hag in the least played spot so far, as I also think people generally hate playing against her as well.

  • Alien is still my dream chapter. I hear the license is hard to get though.

As far as non licensed I've been wanting a werewolf type killer (The Beast). They could put their own DBD spin on the classic with the alchemist being transformed after injecting himself with the serum seeing as we still never found out where that went. They already have the Demogorgan rig they could re use for his model.

  • The majority of his addons are also really bad. They all focus around portal effects when almost no one bothers removing portals anyway because they're not that good.

Improve the addons, improve the portals.

  • This poll seems pretty unanimous.

  • Where's the option to buff?

The Spirit situation is literally the only time Stridor is worth running and you want it nerfed because of that one scenario it is actually decent.

I honestly don't think the devs even play this game at this point. Nor do I think they test the changes themselves. The changes they make are not in line with someone who has the experience of playing this game. Their changes feel more like someone altering something based on spreadsheets and statistics, rather than getting a genuine feel for the game and the changes.

"Their changes feel more like someone altering something based on spreadsheets and statistics, rather than getting a genuine feel for the game and the changes."

This feels like one of the big points to me. Especially when there are many, many flaws in the statistics and data they've collected. I know they must be aware of that because of how they point out that the data shouldn't be taken at face value for balancing, but even though that is said, it feels like what they do.

Honestly the balance and the QA teams are the only areas where the game has been suffering for years imo. Generally speaking I think the other teams have been doing a pretty great job for the most part. I know people take a lot of issues with their monetization, but I actually think their price structures have been more than generous compared to most games.

Plus Medusa was actually a well known part of greek mythology it would make sense to include her into the game.

Also great idea if they were to do a skin for it when she teleports the snakes eyes along with hags should all turn white like shes turning you to stone :)

Sounds like a potential new legendary skin!
