Use basic comprehension and see that it has nothing to do with the character, there would be zero issue with it happening in a movie. Players are choosing this option intentionally

    good point.

It'd be different if there was a face for everyone and different faces were used roughly equally, but blackface, even in a game about murder, isn't cool.

Truth? If something better came along, I'd jump.

If DBD didn't have it's licensed horror characters, I would of dumped this years ago.

something tells me you liked the Halloween chapter...

Why won't the devs just let the Hatch be randomly spawned at the start of the trial, and the Hatch only opens when 1 survivor is left? This way, you are rewarded for patrolling more of the map to accidentally find it, for both Killer or Survivors.

Right now, the only way I can find that Hatch is if I use Bill's perk.

I recommend experience. after a point, you kind of just get a feeling where the hatch is going to spawn on different maps.

    Otz will help as well.

First, before anyone hits me with " so it's ok because you can avoid it?" no. Being called slurs, or being told to off yourself, or whatever else is not ok.

However, you have an answer to it.

Simple af. Turn off your game chat if you can't handle mean words from a stranger on the internet. It's real easy and only takes a few clicks.

If you don't want to turn your chat off, then you have no right to complain about it. You've got an easy fix to the issue, so by not taking that fix you are allowing the issue to exist.

Im not saying it's ok that people are toxic. It's not ok. Not in any sense. But if you can't handle it without breaking out in tears and coming to cry on the forums, just turn your chat off and don't ever worry about it again.

fair. although it would be nice if everyone was civil. pipe dream, I guess.

I watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, (1974) and bought Bubba afterward because that movie is a gem of old horror. also because I'd get BBQ&C, one of the best killer perks out there.

I notice he shines when protecting hooks, especially when paired with Insidious. That aside, any tips for how to play Bubba?

pressuring with the saw outside of loops will get you lots of chainsaw hits. (I know this as a survivor, not as Bubba)

I don't really know about the entity's realm but i see this realm as life after death, the life beyond.

In real life i believe in life after death and also believe that in that place there is really no time. anything can happen forever there.

If the entity is a parallel universe similar to this, and the survivors are there for "years", died countless times and saw terrifying killers and suffered any kind of pain,

How is it possible that they are not scared of the killers or death anymore?

Eventually we stop being afraid of something we were very afraid of, it could even be fear of a kitchen knife.

I imagine the characters like Laurie Kate, Cheryl face their enemy boldly while not feeling scared to see them anymore.

Do you have an explanation for this or another thought on the subject?

the entity wipes their memories when they die.

  • @FearlessHunter said:

Not saying I would want this to be a thing but with how many people say gens get done too fast I wonder if a secondary objective wouldn't be too bad to implement.

My idea would be that survivors need to find fuel before they can work on a gen, there are 10 fuel canisters around the map to prevent killers camping the last one or survivors holding one hostage. Once they put the fuel in the gen it can be worked on for the rest of the match. Only 1 fuel canister is required per gen.

Again I don't think it's really needed but with how many people are saying games go by too quickly I wonder if it may be an idea worth considering. :)

it may be cool if each killer had a shrine or something based around them hidden in the basement. maybe each one would have unique factors relating to the killer's power?

eg, a death trap room for pig, a room filled with cages for PH, a room filled with chains for ceno, etc. messing up the shrine, solving the shrine, or the like could grant big bloodpoints in the boldness category. if the shrine's still intact at the end, the killer gets more bp.

    thoughts?

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/291086/if-survivors-had-to-have-a-mandatory-secondary-objective-what-would-you-like-it-to-to-be

It would take significant work, but I'd like a secondary objective themed around each map.

Gas on Autohaven, floodlights on Ormond, punching yourself repeatedly in the groin on RPD etc.

    lol.

    that's actually a great idea.

punching yourself may be a bit easy though, how about a machine to do it for you?

  • @Frontdoor6 said:

Sorry guys, but i need to get this out

Last night, i had a few killer matches where survivors were just complete jerks. They go out of there way to pester the killer as much as they can and mock the killer afterwards for not doing a good enough job.

I messaged one of the survivors, not angry, just to say my part of it. We ended the conversation calmly, but apparently they told one of their friends about it and that guys friend, who wasn't even IN THE MATCH, felt the sudden need to message me out of no-where and trash talk me for a performance they didn't even see!

He went on to say things such as 'You're A**' and 'its not my fault you're A**'. Then worst of all, he went on to say inappropriate things about my mother!

I mean, what forced a guy to go out of his way just to message someone to bring them down, even when they're WEREN'T there?! What is it about playing Survivors that bring out to worst in people?

And why do Survivors think playing a certain character makes them pros? "Oh look at me, i'm Nea with pink hair and neon clothing. I'm practically untouchable and the match will be a definite win!". The character you play as doesn't change your chances of winning or losing, the perks you use do, but the character doesn't.

The lack of disrespect brings me down some times, Survivors get massive egos and gloat harshly when the killer fails. Survivors mains need to stop and think of this the next time why want to bully killers. "Would i like it if they did that to me when i'm killer?".

I'm sorry guys, i've just been keeping this in for a while and i needed to get it out. I don't mean to sound mean or harsh, but last nights message attack left me bothered. Again, sorry to all of you, and have a good day

    sorry that happened.

I've gotten lots of really nasty comments too.

I recommend just reporting the person (if the comments are reportable and not just complaining) and moving on.

I hope people are better to you, and everyone else in future.

I do think part of it, especially when playing as killer is the fact that your in-game persona is barely/rarely human. it's still important that people remember the killer is still a person playing a game we all care about.

  • I recommend playing some survivor games and choosing whoever scares you the most.

or twins, since you've probably not had many games against them.

  • Also, should distortion block killer instinct as well?

  • @Aurelle said:

Distortion tokens can get eaten up pretty fast (especially if the killer has BBQ or Aura reading addons), so a way to regain tokens would be nice.

    agreed.

I didn't mention this in my OP...but the entire Add-On system is a turn off to me. I avoid it altogether because I hate it.

I hate the fact that I need to grind to purchase 1 time consumable crap to play my character better. It reminds me of Contracts in NBA 2k or Madden, total turn-off.

I felt the same way at first.

I reccommend getting them (since you'll probably have to) and then staying with yellow addons.

keep in mind a good game, bloodpoint wise, will more than recoup the addon costs.

Thank you for the advice. I will not give up on Michael Myers, unless Jason Vorhees comes to DBD.

I have a question about The Hatch. Does the Hatch spawn in the beginning, so can the Killer find the locked Hatch during the trial, so I know where it is for the end game?

I wouldn't hold your breath on Jason, since he's in a big legal kerfuffle right now.

Would trapper be sufficient for now?

  • @SilentShepherd said:

First off, I bought DBD and have only played Michael Myers exclusively, so I don't have perks from other killers. I use No One Escapes Death. But after games, survivors always say "noed myers" or something like that. I don't get it, is Noed bad or good? I suspect they are saying I had a good perk on. Honestly, I don't feel like it's that good. I consistently feel underpowered throughout the match. Especially when I see killers like The Doctor....

Next, I think Michael Myers sucks. And this is sad for me, because Michael Myers is the ONLY reason I bought DBD and his Halloween DLC. My only hope is that Jason Vorhees comes to DBD, so I can switch to Jason main. I understand "The Evil Within" perk wants to re-create the spooky jump scares when Michael is staring at someone.. and I'd say that's cool. But I am completely reliant on EW.... to be honest... because the rest of his perk kit sucks, and he has no abilities.

For example, this "Obsession" perk stuff is bad. One of Myers' unique perks, is you get 1 coin for chasing and letting your obsession get away, but then immediately lose the coin if you swing a basic attack?!? Like what. None of the obsession perks are worth using in my opinion. What a trash perk system for Myers. I understand they are trying to fit the Halloween Lore into his kit, but his kit suffers due to it. The Evil Within is good though. Rank 1 EW makes me so stealthy, I can literally walk up to a survivor doing a generator and grab them. Sometimes I intentionally don't get out of EW1 until I grab someone and hook them to begin the chaos, then I start going to EW2. So, basically, from Myer's core kit, I rely entirely on Evil Within. Because Obsession sucks.

Last thing. Flashlights. I have played a couple of games where survivors just chain stunned me with the flashlights, preventing me from hooking anyone. You can look down or away if you want, but as soon as you do the animation to pick up a downed player, you get stunned. It sucked. Flashlights OP in the right survivor group.

Welcome to the fog. other people are already giving great advice, so I won't dilute the pool.

The problem is that when you turn it off, it gives people the power to troll/grief their time on demand, or to just DC the second the game it's going there way.

If anything, it should be stronger.

I guess, but maybe an exception for those with bad internet? There are ways to tell how a player's ping is doing in game already.

  • @kingbojenbo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2602156#Comment_2602156

You would think that would be the thought process but no. Creating a mode like this should be obvious.

It's like the DC penalty due to spotty internet. There's literally an indicator in game showing if your internet is weak, I mean, if someone's in the middle of playing the game (moving, doing an action, etc), the indicator comes on, and then their internet cuts out, why the heck would you give them a ban? (yes, I'm a little salty)

  • @Junylar said:

But still leave these bs hits through windows and pallets untouched. Like yeah, survivors totally have no legit reason to DC, not even after getting hit from 7 meters away after a window vault.

I wish the penalty had stayed off.

That, or that it was 5 minutes max.

I have slightly spotty internet, but I still want to be able to play.

It'd also be nice to have some basic anticheat in the game, like monitoring speed, airtime, etc.

Hey guys. I just started playing dbd again and as always lots of things have changed (perks, addons, etc) I stopped playing around pinhead's release and I recently came back and completed the new tutorials which in my opinion are pretty decent. I was wondering though if the devs would be able to add some sort of sandbox mode where people could try playing with certain perks or practice with certain killers and killer add-ons instead of diving straight into a match. Devs/Community do you think is would be a beneficial change?

yes.I man, they have AI and a mode where you can set variables, why not just put them together?

  • @dallasmedicbag said:

The nerf was fine and she deserved every bit of it, so I would say that she's not as cheap to use as before. However, her addons pretty much negate the nerf anyway. Directional audio doesn't do anything if she can just catch up to you in just a few seconds. An addon combo I commonly encounter from Spirit players are dried cherry blossoms - which gives killer's instinct within 4m of a survivor, and mother daughter ring, with 40% speed increase in phasing. That's nearly as fast as hillbilly/blight.

Another addon combo is the aforementioned ring and purple amulet which makes phasing longer with 15% reduced movement speed - but still extremely fast with the total of 25% speed increase.

The worst part about this addon combo is that in a chase, spirit can just phase for 1 or 2 seconds and they'll be able to get very close to the survivor (4 meters is a pretty big deal) and instantly trigger killer's instinct. It would be stupid for the survivor to walk, crouch, or even retrace their steps to mindgame scratchmarks (scratch marks are not visible with ring but survivors obviously dont know the addons ran) - basically the phasing power will always be ready after you hit the survivor, essentially ending the chase in less than 15 seconds.

What do you think? Here's a video to show you what I mean.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwETFQiAeHw

I've found her normal speed sluggish since the update. anyone else?

maybe while playing Legion, the first 3 survivors hooked are given a status effect that causes them to respawn as a legion member when killed. (with something to counter the merciless tunnelling that would ensue)

I understand why people come to this opinion but I don't understand why people push it on others and make fun of or attack the other side.

I already could only run the same 4 perks in the same 2 killers because if i did not this damn game was not enjoyable at all, now that they added even more ways to screw over totems after literally getting a brand new perk only for that. Which screws over half of the perks on that damn build. And on top of that, i cant even play the killers i want with a EVEN WITH a meta build because the devs thought it was a good idea to NERF LOW TIER KILLERS on top of adding 2 new bullshit time wasters. All of this on top of literally removing EVERY GLIMPSE OF A CASUAL MODE IN THIS GAME. I seriously cant anymore, im done.

see ya. I hope you find a game you like more!

why not make this a poll?

also, yeah, I'm fine with it.

  • I'm fine with it overall. at this point, I do kinda wish that if they get hit during it they'd go down, since I've had a ton of times where I hit a survivor, they scream, use dead hard, and then zoom into the horizon. The zooming part's fine, though, honestly.

  • I meant to try to get past the slog of Noed-huntresses with winter-eyes. after that level of play, those playstyles really seemed to drop off for me.

  • @Fuzzels said:

I'm not attacking anyone that wants to be high mmr. I'm just genuinely asking why it matters to you.

There's no reward. No incentive. No bonus. No leaderboard recognition. Nothing.

So why does it matter to you?

If your answer is strictly that you enjoy knowing you're a "high skill high mmr player" then alright, that's fair. But if you are stressing to reach that point, is it actually fun? Do you honestly enjoy being stressed? Are you enjoying yourself? Is the game still a game at that point, or has it become a job?

Again, it's totally ok if you want to be a high mmr player. There's nothing wrong with that and I don't meant any aggression or negativity about it, I'm just curious because it seems like the majority of people who want it, also hate playing at it.

As a fellow killer main who admittedly also stresses about winning and wants to stay at higher skill levels, I don't understand. I am asking you, just as much as I'm asking myself.

I personally can’t handle it and hate it. I don’t even touch scary movies, I’d rather watch something more funny and entertaining than just forcing myself to be nervous and tense for 2 hours. It’s not for me.

I'm a fan of horror, but not gore.

I really appreciate that DBD toes the line between macabre and gore.

I think DBD is a scary experience but not a game. it praises horror as a game, but it stops being scary as soon as the killer starts camping.

Twins is the worst killer in the game by far. Promotes an awful boring playstyle, you can't use perks half the game, victor is like huntress hatchet hitboxes on steroids, they feel very awful and sluggish to play as and against and I can keep going honestly. Most poorly designed killer in the game in my opinion. No wonder almost everyone hates them.

not any twins mains. some bad twins players, but no good twins players.

  • @jamally093 said:

So haven't faced twins in a while and first match against them ends up slugging constantly so people probably just play twins because they can down and move on with Victor and decide let's slug basically giving them a free win.

they just have a bad reputation. If people say "twins all slug" new twins players will slug for the 4k. I've never met a Twins main who intentionally camps or slugs more than any other killer main.

also, good twins players don't slug any more than absolutely necessary, and play the two like a tag team.

This is my first time posting on here, so forgive me if this has been addressed/answered somewhere before. And maybe there's something I'm missing here.

But this patch gave us boon totems (3, I think), which are now a pretty massive change/addition to the gameplay. And this wildly new change to the matches is only accessible if you buy the new character? So you've introduced a fairly major element to the game that you gotta buy. Idk maybe I'm just being overdramatic but is anyone else put off by this? Seems.. idk, pretty scummy and a very obvious attempt at getting people to buy a new survivor just for her perks which are gonna change the way matches are played from here on out. And one of the perks isn't even available right now lol

Maybe I wouldn't be as upset by this if they had put one or two of the perks also on the shrine to purchase with bloodpoints. But that seems way too rational and generous for this company, I guess.

they'll probably be in the shrine in a few weeks.

otherwise, she is available through iri shards, which you can get by just playing.
